Is it sad that I'm more excited about the bloodweb ? (yet still counting the hours : 6h now btw !)
-
I don't think that would be good for the overall balance of the game, especially on lower/mid mmr. You seem very optimistic of casual SWFs' chances against most killers. Unless in high skill matches and if all the team is highly experienced, most SWFs are not really that good. (I'm saying this playing regularly in a 3-person SWF on comms, and playing against some as killer on low to mid mmr)
That being said, we could imagine a second ranked game mode specifically for competitive-leaning players where killers could be granted ultimates if they work towards it, the same way Devour Hope is earned with stacks. (Only in this instance it couldn't be deactivated by breaking a totem, of course, but maybe slowed by a second survivor objective)
That would make killer mains who enjoy the competitive aspect but also like underrated/obscure killers to play as their favourite in serious games, without making the game broken in other mmrs. Giving an achievable ultimate to killers only in this game mode would motivate experienced/tryhard killers to play in this mode and not with casual players, unless they're feeling casual themselves.
We could imagine another benefit given to survivors in this mode (maybe add another stake to the trial to make the gameplay more interesting without making it easier), to make sweaty high skill SWFs more up to the challenge rather than settling on stomping casual killers because they're bored of pressing m1.
I don't know what could be the ultimates because my brain is wired to think of Devour Hope and I can't imagine another bonus, but having a killer-specific bonus regarding their power could be cool.

Red Forest ! Plenty of space for omnivorous rabbits, and plenty of rabbits for carnivorous Huntress.
-
This is the first time I'm hearing of Coup de Grace saving the day, and I'm loving it.
-
Based purely on lore and not at all on ingame synergy, Deathslinger and Hillbilly. They're both tinkerers of some kind after all !
-
I don't think this is bannable, but not doing gens at all is definitely a way to upset your teammates (solo q or otherwise).
Your mmr drops according to if you die or if you escape, and not according to your score or what you do all game.
You can drop your mmr by dying purposefully at the end of the match and still be useful to your team throughout the game, if that is your objective.
-
Survivor : We'll Make It, Dance With Me, probably others that I haven't used in a while
Killer : Spies From The Shadows, Mad Grit, Hex : Devour Hope, Hex : Third Seal
-
Excited for the bloodwebs more than anything else haha.
-
Yeah, survivor is kinda boring in and of itself. That's why I have been channeling all my bloodpoints into killers, they at least get more interesting with diverse builds. Survivors are all reskins of each other.
-
I do agree that I'm always a bit more anxious before playing killer than survivor, even though I do better as killer than as survivor (and, dare I say, often have more fun as well).
It's normal, you'll be alone versus 4 people who have the potential of being toxic, or so out of your league they make you feel lesser.
For me this anxiousness is nearly always unfounded, as I very rarely face toxic survivors, sabo SWFs and the like. And when I do face survivors who are much better than me, with matured strats and perfect coordination, they're often just that : better. Not toxic or cocky or mean. Just playing the game at a higher level, which I don't take personally.
For me, survivor is less anxiety-inducing to get into because I only ever play with friends, so even if the game will go badly, we can always joke around on comms and make our own fun. Survivor also has downtimes, just sitting on gens and chilling, whereas killer is constant chasing, or worrying about not being chasing. It doesn't have chill time, which is why is can make you on edge more easily.
So all in all, it's not uncommon to be anxious before playing killer.
-
I like this map in both roles !
As killer, I feel like for once, totem spots on these maps are not half-bad !
As survivor, I like that I can be sneaky on these maps.
And generally, I LOVE the variations in elevations, it's such a cool map in this sense. It feels less artificial than other maps.
-
Could it be this kind of posts that lead to Hooked On You's development...?
..
I'm in, that was hilarious.

All I see is some family bonding around a campfire.

Each killer has its own mmr, no? I am not sure
Each killer has their own mmr, but it is somewhat balanced by your mmr on other killers. If you're a god on Nurse for example, if you start out a new killer you'll have a low-ish mmr but they won't put you in front of people who just installed the game because the game knows you have some experience as killer
In my case, I was brand new on Wraith, so I should not have been put in front of that Jake (let alone a team of survivors like him), but since I have some experience on other killers, I should not have had beginners like Meg and Claudette either.
At least I think it works that way !
-
Hasn't happened to me all the time thankfully, but same kind of endgame screenshot :
4rth game as Wraith ever (usually play Legion but I'm trying to learn him), I get in the same lobby :
- 1 guy that switches to purple flashlight last second, with Haddonfield offering and Head On build, who knows all the house loops perfectly and does smart FOV techs
- 1 medium player
- 2 beginners who don't even have level 2 perks...
With my overall experience as killer (which means not that much), I should have had 4 medium players, not one god and two newbies.
-
I can't tell you. I've played Devour on Hag recently and I couldn't mori after the perk was destroyed. It seems to be very specific, but I don't know which logic the bug follows.
Thankfully, though I have seen some Devour Hope killers recently, I never (to my knowledge) got the bug.

I'm gonna stop you right there. There is no 1 strategy in the history of this game that has ever come close to killers having a 100% chance to 4k. If you're gonna fool anybody trying to argue that, it certainly isn't going to be me. You don't JUST get a 3v1.
You like to give hatch? Good for you. Maybe if it ever goes away, you can just let 1 survivor escape for free, even if they still have 4 gens still to do, because you're a nice killer. But I'm not a nice killer, because I want to win, and there's nothing wrong with that, hence why it's not against the rules and the devs haven't put a statement out about it.
Survivors' feelings are taken very seriously in this game. You can't show gameplay of tunneling or camping, even if it was necessary to win the game, to an audience of more than like 5 without someone saying, "Wow, trash killer" or "that's messed up." And that mentality is shown in the game balance. Specifically the wording of the Reassurance nerf, not the nerf itself, is a prime example. "It prevented survivors from being sacrificed against their will." It's survivor-centric thinking, especially when it's talking about a survivor's right, I guess we could call it, to unalive themselves on hook, which 90% of the time ruins the game for their teammates. But the 1 survivor was able to give up on a match that they didn't like, so that's all fine and dandy.
"I'm gonna stop you right there. There is no 1 strategy in the history of this game that has ever come close to killers having a 100% chance to 4k. If you're gonna fool anybody trying to argue that, it certainly isn't going to be me. You don't JUST get a 3v1."
-
Do you mean opening windows to vault through or transforming the window into a door ?
(It would be very slasher-esque to have a strong killer destroy their way through a window, but I don't know how it would work with balance haha)
-
I can see how it's can be unfun to go against, but doing chains is extremely fun when you play as them.
I personally don't mind going against them, I'd take a hit and run rather than a, let's call it very focused killer any day.
Bonus point if they're messing with mixtapes !
-
Hatch is a good mechanic. Sometimes it's the only possible escape. If a killer forces a 3v1 from the start, the game will most likely end with hatch. Without it, this strategy would be 100% of the time rewarded with 4Ks instead of sometimes with an escape.
Plus some of us killers like to give hatch.
And I don't think the survivors' feelings are the only ones taken into consideration by the devs.
-
Thankfully it doesn't happen in all my games, but the other day in one single game I had : first survivor unalived themselves on first hook, second survivor DCs because she was teabagging and clicking all over the place and I didn't want to indulge her need for attention, third survivor DCs when downed because there are still 4 gens to do and it's hopeless....
Which left the last survivor and I in an awkward "So... what do we do now?" situation. All of that in 3 minutes.

My favourite thing is how in German ever killer is "Der/Die/Das [Name]" based on of the name is masc/fem/neut, except for Nemesis. Nemesis is literally just "Nemesis". Not even Demogorgon gets that treatment- it's "Der Demogorgon"- but Nemesis is literally just Nemesis. And nobody I've spoken to knows why.
Same energy haha
-
I've seen fan content play around with role switches between survivors and killers, and it's really cool to imagine what powers would survivors have if they were a killer, or how killers would adapt if they had been survivors.
I'd love to see Survivor!Wraith as well !

I'm afraid to ask now...

It's a joke lad. I just noted that it had gone from 18% or so up to 20%, surpassing the other exhaustion perks and made this shitpost as a response. We'll see how the usage evolves over time. I don't mind DH being the most used exhaustion perk, it's not unfair anymore. It can still be unfun to against sometimes, but as long as there's more variety than before in survivor builds, I'm okay with that.
Thank you for confirmation ! ^^'
For what it's worth, I see a lot of new survivors trying it out and some of them do really well with it. It's nice that even though a lot of users have a hard time letting go of old DH, a good fraction of beginners are taking it in stride very well.
-
I have trouble discerning irony when in written form, so someone please confirm it is just some jovial trolling and people are not seriously asking for more DH nerf.
-
Why are you so far away though
-
Only being able to use it once per hook instance means that you will have to leave your task, run through the map, take the risk of being hit near the hook, run back to where you were, only to stop the timer for 30 seconds. Doing it means you're not on a gen and you will likely lose more time than you gain.
If the rest of your team is not running it, it can't counter facecamping anymore.
The solution would have been either to make it so that the hooked person can reject the reassurance, and with the 40s cooldown, or to make it once per hook state with a longer duration like 60 seconds.
-
My build for a quick bp grind is Legion with Pills + Mural add-ons to get more points the more I chain hits in Frenzy, make sure to two-hook everyone, and if I'm feeling nasty put in a Dead Dawg offering (small map = long chains)
I don't grind as survivor, it's much less efficient in my opinion.
-
Yeah, I reported the same issue last week. Apparently it's been there for a few weeks now !

French is my second language so I'm probably just missing some sort of idiom here, but what is the relevance of "Dur à Cuire" in relation to Dead Hard?
The only translation I can think of for that is difficult/hard to cook.
Hahaha it does literally mean "hard to cook", but as a description of a person it really means "Tough". xD
(Though it does make it funnier when facing a Leatherface with Chili !)
-
I don't know about pay to win, but definitely pay to have bandaid fix to a problem that should be adressed through basekit.
-
Noo don't delete Swamp !
It's the only map that I can think of with actual ground variation besides a hill here or there. It feels to me like the most realistic map, instead of a flat ground with some structures on it, and I love that about it.
I'd actually really like if next new realms had this kind of level variation. Garden of Joy has one sunken zone, but nowhere near as much variety as Swamp.
-
What they said : It's lore-accurate. Guy's supposed to be hobbling. It's already a wonder he's faster than survivors !
-
I generally do, unless the killer was playing so dirty that I don't want to waste time watching the rest of the players get slaughtered.
If my friend is out of the game, it also depends on whether he wants to stay and watch or if we queue up again.
-
My survivor build is not particularly efficient but I get some nice plays with it sometimes :
We'll Make It, Windows of Opportunity, Lithe, Dance With me
Killer build :
Discordance, Jolt, Sloppy Butcher, Spies from the Shadows
Not very fancy, but it works !

To be surprised, Garden of joy doesnt have grass, at least its dark enough to hide traps in the corner or something.
Midwich, Racoon, Eyrie, Garden have no grass. Im afraid they dont not add grass in maps anymore
Yeah, but a map doesn't have to have grass to have good trap placements.
Midwich is very dark and convoluted, same for some parts of RPD, which gives traps the potential of closing off whole parts of the map (especially if you're playing with bloody coil). Same with maps that have a lot of windows or small rooms like Lery.
That being said, I'd be all for an adaptation of the traps to the esthetics of the map to help blend in better.
-
Damn, that sucks.
I've never had the displeasure of being "ez"d as a killer yet, or having such expressive teammates, thank god.
I had a killer game earlier where all survivors escaped, but they were genuinely nice in postgame. I must be in the good timeline !

Yeah there is a lot of variation of course, sometimes I stomp as well. It very often feels like the first chase and its length determines the course of the whole match. I have no idea about my MMR but on many killers I play the survivors seem very objective-focused and many are good loopers.
I mean, if a lot of the survivors you see seem quite good at the game, then it's a good sign as to how good you are becoming yourself ! :)
-
@Bardon said:
Best suggestion I've heard is update the addon that makes his traps darker to make the traps blend into whatever colour they're on. Imagine choosing dark traps and getting the Aerie?
Yes. Literally every time I get Eyrie (as killer or survivor) I think back on that video of a Trapper lining up 10 traps and walking through all of them himself, because what else do you want him to do on that map ?? xD
-
I do not have the same experience, but that's maybe because the survivors I'm facing are not that good yet. Similarly, when I play as survivor we scarcely ever get to 5 gens done, so it might be a phenomenon more specific to your mmr bracket / hours of the day you play / region.

"The only ones that I kinda understand where you're coming from is Nurse and Legion"
Sad Legion main noises

Some responses:

That's kind of my point. At 30 hours I realize I'm incredibly new. It's a strange game design that makes one side really easy and the other incredibly hard for new players (especially when we're defining new in the hundreds of hours).
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3151132#Comment_3151132
This goes to my first anticipated response. Is the game meant to be balanced against playing 4 SWF with 1000s of hours of experience each? Yeah, I should, hopefully, get wrecked; it would be crazy if I wasn't. But if the game is being balanced for killers against experienced teams working together as the default its a massive problem for everyone else not in that category.
-Jay K asked about maps
--Yeah, some maps were definitely easier than others. Not knowing maps, the ones that were in buildings with stories seemed particularly hard as a killer running around trying to find the stairs. However, I didn't use any offerings to try and influence the maps and took the ones that were given to me.
-Starlost talks about it potentially not being genuine:
I don't know what to tell you. I'm not some twitch streamer who records them, I'm just a guy who plays video games and likes hard data. However, your other comments (and others in the thread) basically agree with the assertions I'm making, the beginning of the game is incredibly easy for killers and a slaughter for survivors. Then you go to the response of 'but just wait until you hit a good SWF team'. If that is the presumption of the game that solo Q is a losing effort meant for masochists, sure, I can live with that, but let's be upfront about what we mean when we're talking about balance.
Let's be real
When you talked about running around to find the stairs, you were thinking of Midwich, weren't you ? :'D
Because if so, same ! My first game ever as killer was on Midwich, I'd been there maybe 2 times as survivor before, and after all of the upstairs gens were completed without me finding the stairs a survivor had to come down and show me the way with emotes because he noticed I was lost...
-
I've seen a lot of Devour, Undying and Blood Favor lately, but these last two were in the shrine recently so I'm not surprised to see people trying them out.

That might be it then !

My notifications (the ones that pop up, not the bell ones) are in german for some reason, but at least I have them again !

Yeah, that's pretty much the DbD "first 500 hours" experience. I've got nearly 200 hours into the game now, and same results : mostly 3Ks and 4Ks playing killer, mostly deaths as survivor.
-
God forbid people play killer to have fun and not necessarily to 4K...

The Reassurance nerf is one that they themselves asked for. "But then I can't unalive myself on hook!" Maybe you shouldn't be doing that then? And Better Than New being yet another gen speed perk for survivors, just for getting healed? Nuh-uh. It's better off being the new Leader that they made it into.
I really like how you make assumptions about my arguments on Reassurance and my will to end games early. I'm sure this quality of yours is greatly appreciated by many and grants you a lot of love.
As for the "they themselves asked for it", most survivors asked for a way for the hooked person to reject the reassurance should the game turn into a hostage situation where the teammate is indefinitely hooked. So that, you know, the anti camping perk works against camping killers without having to have a whole team of people using it.
As for Better Than New, yeah, I wouldn't be against another gen repair speed perk. Out of 9 games played yesterdays, the survivors saw the gates being powered (not opened) twice, whether that was because of killer scummy plays being rewarded by the game or because of matchmaking doing an oopsie and putting much more experienced killers in front of us so that they don't have to wait in queue (nevermind our own entertainment or chances of escaping).

I had a Legion that hit me with frenzy and just followed me in a circle hopping over a pallet (ran in circle to hop over so not getting in eachothers way). When frenzy ran out they downed and hooked me. They played normal rest of match hooking me again and killing my teammates but they ended up letting me live. It was fun just running in a circle. 😂
Yeah I love these kind of games, that's stupid but it's fun !
I also really love Legion's music, so one time after a series of really bad games I was a bit cheered up by hearing a nice mixtaped chase music, but I didn't have the energy to really engage in chase, so I just stood up from my gen and headbanged whenever the Julie was coming, she was a bit confused but happy to see one person like Legion. For the rest of the game she would come to chain Frenzy but leave me on my gens. A kinship was made xD
