Yeah, 10% regression and giving away your location to a killer, who can teleport to any incomplete gen almost all the time, isn’t the greatest idea. As you said, it made sense against OG Freddy, but not very much against current one. You also didn’t mention that falling asleep is now always passively happening, so it’s only a matter of time before you’re right back in the dream world.
I despise current Freddy so much.

Turned it off, no mention of uninstall.. so see you tomorrow?

As serious as the problem is, I can’t help but laugh.

Unfun, unbalanced, and, somehow, still unchanged.

Nah, whenever i see pc players i know the match is gonna be miserable with them hiding in a corner, or tryharding so much i can smell the sweat
Guess we should both be turning it off then! 🤷🏼♂️

Agree with some of the others, a 5/10/15% wiggle speed increase at most. And yeah, block hook auras up to at least 20m.
-
I gotta turn cross play off or something. Had this immersed console Zarina today running Wake Up, Left Behind, Spine Chill, and Distortion. Immersing all game, escaped with a lower score than me at my expense. So I lose MMR and she rises?
And her case is not unique, almost always console survivors that play like this. Just want the bad console killers but only PC teammates. Hard pressed.

@MandyTalk, might wanna clean up this thread.

It's either the 2nd or 3rd largest map and actually spreads out weaker loops around the map. So yes it's far more balanced than other huge maps like Mother's Dwelling that is not only big, but has a ton of safe loops around map.
Mother’s Dwelling is imbalanced, yes. They need to get on with reworking Red Forest already. But Shelter Woods is imbalanced the other way. No elevated places to use Balanced Landing, excluding shack staircase (the only such map with this problem), a ton of area with absolutely nothing - especially the middle of the map. Almost every pallet loop outside of structures is unsafe, and almost all the gens are near shack - which is always basement. Oh, and gens are almost never concealed by structures on this map.
No, this map is nowhere near balanced.

Shelter Woods is one of the better maps for killer, because it's one of the more balanced maps. That said, I would like to see Shelter Woods be less rng reliant. Outside of shack, there's 0 window spawns that will spawn on that map since it's possible to get no jungle gyms with windows.
“Balanced” - LOOOOOL. Don’t make me spit out my Mountain Dew!

DCs make up like half of the funniest moments in this game though. And as others have said, you can’t force a player to stay in a game they don’t want to. Not without them throwing or AFKing anyways.

If this is where DbD is headed, it is for sure dying. I never want to play with bots on either side, unless it is by my choice offline and all the others are bots.

Bubba, Hag, Plague, Legion, Doctor, Freddy, and Spirit always. Occasionally, stealth killers.
You list
3/4 chase killers (4 if you think spirit is a chase killer)
1 mobility killer (Im counting spirit)
1 trap killer
2 killers that are meant for 4v1s
and ocasionally stealth killers?
Do you just like ranged killers is that it because I really cant think of a category other than ranged killers that you havent listed at least 1 killer from.
Bubba, Hag: camping potential primarily, but other things as well. Won’t get into them unless you want me to.
Legion, Plague, Doctor: free detection as part of their power. Freddy in conjunction with BBQ, Discordance, Surveillance, and/or Tinkerer using his power for a free teleport to a gen needing pressure. Awful options for waking up as he passively puts you to sleep (which this version of Freddy already does a good job of… putting gamers to sleep). Plague negating dozens of survivor perks and items just by existing (anything to do with healing). Spirit is just Spirit, enough said. Poor man’s Nurse.
I can put up with stealth killers, just aren’t my favorite. The ones I vehemently oppose are those above.

If you haven't read it, whey even post? Also my point from each post has been, Behaviour has attempted to address camping, tunnelling, abusing mechanics multiple times and either the killer worked around it or survivors have worked around it or abused it.
I did read it... that's the first thing I said, that I needed time to read it before responding.
I just don't recall any of these alleged attempts you say BHVR has made. The last real change was increasing each hook state timer to 60 seconds from 45 seconds. That was patch 1.5.3 per the wiki. We're now in 5.3.2. Sickening.

No... my point was that both sides abused mechanics. Current BT is great, 12 seconds of invincibility is pretty good, I actually thought BT worked by the distance of the killer, so guarantee activation is fantastic. I really dislike current DS, I actually made a comment a while ago about why it needs a buff, however if you don't think doing the objective right in front of the killer, knowing you were untouchable was abusive I don't know what to say to you.
Also your bit about the need to run half your build to counter camping, that's the same for both sides. If 4 survivors simply choose to do the gens in 4 minutes, killers have dedicate their entire build to stop it. I have never and will never support camping, tunnelling, or slugging, however I recognise that at times these things are unavoidable. Unless you are ok with deliberately throwing the game.
Also brief mention, I'm assuming you are a new player, joined in the last 2-3 years. Originally survivors and killers ranked up by points, not emblems. The best way to rank up as survivor was through escaping the best way as killer was through killing. This resulted in survivors gen rushing to ensure their escape, and killers face camping as it was the optimal way to rank up. Behaviour implemented the emblem system to encourage players to do othering things in the match, so you needed to do the objective, get saves, chases ect, and the same for killer. What survivors started to do was prolong the match after they reached a point when they felt secure to get as many points as possible. Because gens use to always go in about 4 minutes, and there use to be way more loops, pallets, for survivors, they could continue the match for another 3-5 minutes simply taunting until they felt like they had enough and thus would easily escape through the exit gate. Which created a need for the end game collapse, to force survivors out of the gate. So yes, survivors are just as toxic and abusive as killers.
I needed to take time to read your comment in full. No, I am not a new player (been playing since 2016), and yes I understand that both sides can be toxic. I'm not here to really discuss points and emblems, but the main topic: facecamping.

It was a joke with a heavy dose of hyperbole, but not that far from the truth either. I just today had a game where I 4K'ed a group on Badham as Nurse and somehow got accused of camping when all four survivors would not stop hook rushing or lurking near the hook, which I knew they were doing because I run Nurse's calling and Spies from the Shadows on my Nurse at all times. They raged and called me all sorts of nasty things for 'camping' when I knew where all four of them were and knew they weren't doing gens. And that isn't an uncommon occurrence; Survivors just hate to lose, period.
This has zero to do with the thread, or any of my comments.

They probably want you to only play perkless, trapless trapper who never presses M1 or hooks anyone and leads the Survivors to all the gens while letting them drop pallets and click their flashlights.
Nice ASSumption! But not true.

It would barely change anything to 'er, other than the fact that you have to be in view to be blinked at. F tier would be a gross exageration as she can still bypass all the things that B-C-D-F tier killers cannot.
Do you not realize why Torn Bookmark was such a trash ultra rare add-on that it had to be buffed to what it is now? Having LoS as Nurse is not always an option.

Only killer that can ruin your day with camping is bubba, otherwise just do gens and try 1 for 1 before reaching second stage etc.
Camping is not really an issue imo. So far I have played only against few killers that actually camped from 5 gens, but even most of them were just going full meme and never leaving basement etc.
That is patently false. Any killer can effectively camp given the right perks, add-ons, hook location, and/or other factors. Other examples just based on killer powers: Hag, Billy, Pyramid Head, Deathslinger, Huntress, and Trickster. And soon to be our new hit-from-anywhere-on-the-map killer.

Bubba - The Campable

To be fair, it is an insanely generous scoring event. But why remove it? The survivor is doing something helpful to the themselves and the team.
I feel it should technically be under the altruism category (at least when it’s a dull totem), since it is benefitting the entire team. Or perhaps even a combination of boldness, altruism, and survival points really.

Didn't they nerf Boon Totems to no longer stack?
One Totem can be Booned by 1 player and if a new Totem is booned the old one snuffs out. And if the person that Boons a totem gets hooked or killed the Boon is snuffed out also.
And I noticed this, Survivors in Solo Que are purposefully destroying totems just so it can't be Booned.
So I dropped a few pallets nearby and missed skillchecks on gens.
You know, just to help out the Killer find us more easily.
I'm in no way a filthy survivor main who wants the game to be in Survivors favor, but no matter which side it is. If you go out of your way to ruin the game for others and spite because you want to be some wannabe Batman vigilante.
Then you better hope you know how to loop a Killer with 0 pallets left in the map.
As far as I understand it, the stacking refers to totems in overlapping range of one another. Which is definitely possible on some maps. Multiple totems can still be blessed at once, right?
-
@Bran said:
why do you want to destroy your teammates perk that benefits everyone?
sure you might want to use your clairvoyance or inner healing, but those totems you do cleanse aren't already effected via boons.
Rift challenges, Counterforce, maybe I really need to heal but it’s not CoH, etc.

This would cause a problem for colorblind people. I do gens as last survivor get me that BP because I normally don't find that hatch before they do anyway they guard the doors, I finish the gen and teabag as the objective was done.
I just found out for the first time only very recently that completing a generator as the last survivor before EGC has a special scoring event. Was a super neat find!
-
Heck no. Just bring back OG Freddy with a few tweaks. If not, at least give him usable and good add-ons.
-
I mean, it’s a really complex thing they’ve done. Because there is still incentive to cleanse totems. I was shocked when I found out boon totems were associated with dull and hex totems. I thought they would be their own entity (pun not intended). I don’t think the mechanic was fully thought through.

Ok first one to mind was the rework BT, killers would use the undetectable status to bypass it and still camp, so they had to change it so that it has a set radius.
Second was the reworked Decisive strike. Survivors abused the perk doing gens instantly after being unhooked because they knew the killer could not touch them.
If you want examples of direct in game mechanics, behaviour have openly come out in support of camping an tunnelling, so they never had much of reason to nerf it, the example I gave was back when behaviour prioritized "Fun" over balance.
Your first mention proves my point exactly. It was killers being able to bypass BT, one of the few anti-tunnel (not anti-camping) perks survivors have. And they still can, just by waiting out 12 or more seconds. It wasn’t changed to a radius activation range, but always triggering upon any unhook. The original BT was anti-camp and anti-tunnel, since it protected both the unhooker and the unhooked. But only worked once per match based on being in terror radius, which was very problematic for several reasons.
Old DS wasn’t abusable to me, as killers had the choice to slug a recently unhooked survivor. And either way you look at it, it still isn’t very anti-tunnel at all, so needs some better features and conditions if it’s going to remain a one-time use perk.
@Sakurra said:
Run BT and kindred. If it's a bubba, just do gensrush. Don't even think to save. If it's not, then go for save with bt.
Ah yes, let me dedicate half my build every dang trial in case the killer decides to camp. And even with BT, the best outcome may be a hook trade; at worst, we both end up hooked or downed. And if it’s me being camped, hang there for 850 BP while my teammates get to earn minimal points and get out themselves. Real good advice, much thanks!
-
@Icaurs said:
So behaviour actually did something similar to what you proposed back in 2016 I think, this was back before the swivel hook and killers would block the unhook interaction. Survivors started looping the killer near the hooked survivors, essentially abusing the mechanic. Most ideas regarding tunnelling and camping have been tested at one point or another and either the killers or survivors abuse it.
Give me one historical example of anti-camping/tunneling mechanics being tested, besides this test you mention in 2016.

Victor, as everyone wants to remind us all of, is not a killer, he's a power.
Your point being? Just because Victor can’t do everything a basic killer can, doesn’t mean he can’t do his own special stuff. He’s not carrying survivors to hooks, but he’s injuring and downing them, searching lockers, and more. So why can’t he be buffed to help out with totems?
-
@araniella said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/294570/hex-totems-suggested-changes
Or yall can just find the boon totem since it makes a loud noise and deal with something mildly fair for once. Killers are given so many advantages and are given so much power to completely counter survivors that if we have to look around for the totem and wait all that time to bless it on top of that, you can spend some time looking for it and destroying it since you can literally hear it from a mile away.
Why are you replying to a thread you obviously didn’t read?
-
I’m on board!
I just imagine Victor trying to snuff a totem, and getting crushed in the process. 😂
-
I could get behind option 2 and a variation of option 3. I would just make it so the hexes aren’t applied to totems until their effect first takes place. In the case of Devour, that’d be two tokens.
-
Are the skill checks getting harder only within the trial, permanently over time, or what? And how many before they start getting harder? Because if the former, newer players will still suffer; and if the latter, at what point does the difficulty cap? Regular skill checks aren’t meant to be obnoxiously difficult, or else killer perks related to skill checks would be worthless. It’s just meant to keep you from dozing off while repairing.
I personally don’t want a difficult skill check every dang time. The yellow glyph challenges are more annoying than fun to me, despite what I’ve seen others say about it on the forums. The great skill check reward is pretty negligible now too, in terms of progress and risk.
I wouldn’t mind skill checks being added to all other survivor interactions too, for more points. Cleansing/blessing, opening gates, even chests etc.
Totally agreed on phantom skill checks. It happens too often to seem to be coincidental anymore.
-
@ukenicky said:
Undying, Retribution and Haunted Grounds are really good together for punishing survivors who insist on cleansing/blessing.
Running a Hex heavy build might not sound attractive to killers but it's the best option you've got right now. You can see your own lit Hex totems at the start of the match so you'll know where they are should they be cleansed/blessed over. Additionally, it takes considerably longer to bless a hex totem which means more time wasted on the survivors end.
Exposed from Haunted Grounds and aura reveal from Retribution will let you get an easy down and bypass CoH as well as things like Dead Hard and start snowballing pressure.
If you're not going to do a hex heavy build I highly recommend Bloodhound to help with tracking people through Shadow Step and catching people trying to heal themselves since Nurse's Calling won't help but nobody believes me on the Bloodhound thing.
Great post, but most experienced killers won’t need Bloodhound to track or see blood. The rest of your comment is good advice though!

The same can be said about a lot of killer perks. But it doesn’t work that way does it?
It only fits the narrative when it’s in your favour.
”just do bones lol, it’s a one time hex.”
”just snuff boons.”
inb4 boons can be relight endless times, killers have to waste time!!
So do the survivors that have to spend time booning and rebooning.
Hex perks also have a much bigger impact on the game.
Don’t forget the things killers can do without perks too! Camping, slugging, tunneling. Yet survivors have to “waste” a perk slot in the off chance any or all of these happen to them.
