To be honest, I have no idea which economic strategy is the best. I also lack data and numbers on which characters are the most popular and whose cosmetics are the best-sellers.
So while from a firm's point of view, constantly adding more outfits for popular characters and ignoring the unpopular ones makes perfect sense for maximising short-run supernormal profits, in the long-run it may harm their business further as people will be far less willing to demand cosmetics for other characters knowing they will simply be ignored in future, harming revenue and thus profits. In order to be able to judge that and to be able to assess the long-term consequences, I would have to have studied economics. From my amateur perspective, it makes sense to prioritize the most popular characters to maximize profits.
Nevertheless, I would also be happy about cosmetics from other characters like Jeff or Adam for example. As long as they look good, I don't really care about the character.
"In order to be able to judge that and to be able to assess the long-term consequences, I would have to have studied economics. From my amateur perspective, it makes sense to prioritize the most popular characters to maximize profits"
I've literally just done my microeconomics final (markets and business behaviour) which is a third of the full qualification, so I assume this constitutes as me having studied economics.
In the short term, assuming rational consumer behaviour, yes. For the long run this strategy could lead to fewer cosmetic purchases overall, however, as a large portion of the market are excluded, and irrational consumer behaviour happens basically constantly.
As BHVR currently hold monopoly power within the market (and, though I can only assume this, probably are a monopoly) then they can afford to do this currently because there are no viable alternatives and the market is incredibly far from being competitive. Though, for the long term goals (which I assume they're playing for by the Anniversary stream) appealing to every consumer is ideal to ensure maximal utility

Never understood the hate feng gets, because exactly!! Other characters still have more than her and she's always complained about the most out of all of them, also it isn't her fault she's been getting a lot of cosmetics recently, complain to bhvr 😭
Now what exactly do you think we're doing by complaining on a public forum that BHVR reads and uses for feedback, suddenly trying to appeal to Activision???

There's such a thing as oversaturating the marketNot in terms of Feng Min cosmetics. It's all about supply and demand. As long as people buy these cosmetics, there is no oversaturation.
You're putting words into my mouthI didn't put any words in your mouth. Just wanted to remember that she doesn't have the most cosmetics. I've only noticed that more people get upset about new Feng skins than, for example, about Meg or Nea. I don't just mean that in relation to this discussion here.
Not in terms of Feng Min cosmetics. It's all about supply and demand. As long as people buy these cosmetics, there is no oversaturation.
Actually no, there is. Because consumers have different demands, if your product isn't incredibly niche you should attempt to target towards all of them. Rational consumer behaviour dictates that they will demand what they are willing to and able to consume, however consumers do not act rationally, and when they are ignored in favour of others they will begin to feel annoyed as their demands are not being met in favour of others.
The joys of irrational consumer behaviour.

Really? I remember them all being atleast 28 with frank and Julie being older then the other two but I could be wrong
For legal reasons, every character is over the age of 21.
However, let's be real, certain characters aren't coded like this, Susie being one such character. Her cosmetics always reference being a sophomore- which is like Year 11 in the UK, so 16 at max; she's very often given the 'uwu smol girl' cosmetics, and just overall it doesn't seem like she was created with being a fully grown adult woman in mind. Which just makes everything feel... weird.
At least with other characters, while you know them to be young, it's not explicitly mentioned they're still in high school in basically every cosmetic piece, which really seems to want to hammer home that message.

Btw Dweet, Meg, Claudy, Nea have even more cosmetics than Feng Min...
Feng Min has been getting a lot of outfits recently. There's such a thing as oversaturating the market.
Also notice how I never talked about Claudette, Meg, Nea, Dwight, etc. because I know they also have too many... You're putting words into my mouth that were never there to begin with babes, the topic here is Feng Min <3

I think Feng is cute and fabulous. This cosmetic might be my new go to on her!
She might be but she can be cute and fabulous without getting a cosmetic every other week. I'm so sick of seeing Felix and Feng getting new updates over and over

simple and effective= BHVR loves their survivor and can't afford to make them unhappy
and well ofc they won't be able to make money
but hey good news= This game's dying slowly
better news= Ash vs Evil dead is coming meaning you don't need to play this anymore
The games been dying since it first released you need a better argument.
Also Evil Dead has already dropped... and dropped it's playerbase too 🕳️👩🏻🦯

Sorry if i wasnt clear, i dont mean swapping to third person. I mean the camera unlocking so you can freely look around while working the gen. It would also allow you to face the direction you want to run in when you release the gen, hypothetically.
Ah but you see that isn't immersive enough because in real like while buried neck-deep into a generator you couldn't then look behind yourself /s

might as well let survivors instant escape and teabag killers because who cares about immersion, it’s all about how to get survivors to consume more product lol. No wonder the only popular people playing this game are paid by the devs lol.
Consumer utility means every consumer, not four consumers. Maximising overall utility involves an opportunity cost of some people for the greater utility of them all.
This discussion was around first person survivor. Hence I talked about survivors, as it is all that is relevant. You're bringing in a topic that has no importance to the conversation at hand and trying to use it as a 'gotcha' moment when nothing I said directly supports or goes against it since it isn't relevant.
You're really not good at this, are you? You're trying so so hard and it just isn't working.

noo you can’t add immersive gameplay to a horror game, I want to look at my 40 of $30 feng cosmetics every game
It is very rarely a good principle of game design to sacrifice utility for immersion and maximising consumer utility is the best way to ensure they remain repeat customers which, for a firm in a position of monopoly power, is exactly what you want to happen but go off.
Let's bore the survivor playerbase into quitting because of gen times where you can stare at the same 3 pixels constantly and do nothing else!
Your name applies here- try harder with your posts.
(also try harder with knowing who you're replying to- I don't play Feng)

This illustrates it pretty well. Is this new, though? I dont feel like it was this easy before, wheras while carrying a survivor I could easily just look down at the ground if a survivor tried to blind me, and it wouldn't work. Now it seems if they just point the flashlight at my feet I'll go blind
it's been this way for a while tbf. Survivor client sided blinds really don't help, either.
-
The best way I can really explain it is like this:
Imagine the FOV of the killer to be a cone in front of them.
If a survivor shines a flashlight into this cone, the killer is blinded. But it doesn't have to be exactly head-on, it can be anywhere within the cone, like this:
But this can also lead to some very... odd angles. So long as the flashlight goes into the FOV.
This also explains why sometimes you're blinded while looking at walls.
If you're very slightly slanted, it's possible to get very very odd angles indeed.
Moreover, I'm almost 99% sure that it calculates the blind angle based off of if the killer is using Shadowborn even if they aren't.
Combine that with survivor-client-sided blinds and they can be very wacky items indeed.

sounds like skill issue to me... As it is right now survivor is boring af when you can see your back when fixing a generator. Like, where's the part where survivors struggle?
Ah yeah can't wait for the fun engaging gameplay of staring at a low resolution generator model for 80 seconds.

They said on strean SC is top5. Along with BT, DH, DS and Iron Will. Sounds pretty "often".
They said Self-Care was one of the perks used frequently, not one of the top 5 perks used.
Please, I watched that stream and read those articles several times.
Edit: looking at the data they provided however, yes self care is in the top 5. Though, it is still used in less than 25% of loadouts, so less than once a match. Compare this to other perks, with Dead Hard coming in at just under 75% at the highest level.
So yes, it is within the top 5. However, in a set of numbers 10, 9, 8, 8, 3, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, then 3 is also within the top 5 largest numbers, despite the fact that there is a 5 number difference between the 4th option, 8.
My point? Just because it's the top 5 doesn't mean much, when it's so much lower than the rest of the top 5.

Noted for the future, thank you
-
But being serious for a moment here
Self-care is just under 25% at high-MMR, and peaks at around 28% at low-to-mid-MMR. Circle Of Healing has it's own line that reaches about 16/17% at the highest point. It's definitely not what I'd call "so often" tbh.

Literally experiencing the same thing and on the verge of tears as I write this. Went to go check what time specifically the contest closed to be met with the same screen.
Have been drawing nonstop around work to create a skin concept for my baby Tricky and created an entire backstory and description for the outfit along with a new song of his that he would wear the outfit during the song performance.
I know it's just a fun contest, and it's probably not worth the tears — but I was really excited to share it and possibly get it in the game. Art is my dream career so this felt like such a great opportunity to get it out there. To have my art put in a game? One of my favorites at that? That would be the dream.
I'm staring at the nearly done reference sheet wondering what I should do now.
I'm really hoping it can be extended or something.
If it's any consolation, if you don't win this you absolutely still have the talent to have a career in art- I've seen your posts in off topic and they look so cool !!

UPDATE: Thanks guys for replying, but don't waste your time. It was just an idea that I wanted to share with you, but you took it too seriously and started telling why no, instead of how yes. Anyway, it will never happen. BHVR could not implement even simpler things or took them forever. I mean I am not blaming them, business is business. They can justify spending time only on things which bring money to the table, i.e. chapters, cosmetics, or fixing game breaking bugs. Of course declining player counts can also motivate them, and probably that's why we saw all those promises during the anniversary stream.
So you went to a public forum and expected an echo chamber of yes's instead of people giving their genuine idea on your idea..? Or did I read that entire thing wrong?

On keyboard
to describe it precisely, when someone has boil over, its harder to move and you can bump into things, thats alright
The thing im talking about is that when you pick them up, you can BARELY move forwards and you just left-right uncontrollably, you can just move like 2-3 meters in a direction before they wiggle out
Here is a video of cmwinter from 1 year ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUIA0XbjcgU&t=50s
I was asking because it's notoriously difficult on controller with Boil Over.

in the last update they fixed an issue that would boot you onto second stage if you attempted to escape and succeeded, but this pushed you over into the second stage, effectively making you dead on hook. in doing so, they broke the game visually so that people who are actually on second stage appear to visually have only been hooked once.

No, this is not a latency issue, because it happens 100% of times
No this absolutely is latency because to the killer you have not yet fallen and so they can hit you, whilst to the survivor you're already halfway down to the ground

When you are falling from a high and 1 sec after the killer hit you as if you’re not at the ground
Ah, so general latency issues.
They tried fixing it before with hit validation but outside of dead hard and pallets it does nothing to helping fix incredibly laggy hits, so I doubt we'll get much progress

Pretty sure it's been a mechanic since his launch I didn't buy the game 6 years ago
It wasn't since launch I don't think, it was added after a lot of people realised (early on) that you could bodyblock people in places including basement and stalk them until t3.
Or if it was since launch then whoever I watched 5 years ago to get that information was wrong.
-
Just a slight correction, it's actually not the #1 used survivor perk. That would go to Dead Hard.
Iron Will never actually peaks above 25% usage, and drops off the higher MMR you're playing at. Not that that second part means much since MMR is intrinsically flawed but I digress; it's nowhere near the most used survivor perk.

The closest, most recent gameplay I can get for you right now is this video
https://youtu.be/QX5j1JaM56wI'd definitely say I'm good at him but I also don't play dbd to win dbd so I sit there and try funny things that'll throw the game. Can try and get some try hard gameplay for you later if you want but no promises because I have my first final in... Tomorrow.
(oh and yes I do stream ttv/Karu_TC but again I can and will throw the game at all times instantly for a slightly chuckle so if you expect anything where I try and win you're mistaken, it's gameplay of me trying something stupid and being sad when the thing that had a 99% chance of failing fails)

The game has been dying since June 16th when it first released.
It was dead on arrival. It wouldn't make the first year anniversary. 2nd year would kill it. 3rd year wasn't enough. 4th year was mediocre, the game is going. 5th year was garbage and a snoozefest and the game is gonna die.
And now 6th year. The game is gonna drop dead any second now, I can just feel it.

Disclaimer, you must be in a SWF with multiple people using these perks all together.
Corrective Action + Stake Out + Prove Thyself.
Stake Out makes every good skill check a great skill check.
Corrective Action makes missed skill checks a good skill check, which in theory then allows Stake Out to upgrade it to a great.
The great will also recharge your own Corrective Action which you can use on your friend.
You may now proceed to completely AFK any and all generators.
