you do realize that if you buff killers to compensate then you're not compensating for anything, right?
solo queue needs straight buffs with no repercussions, period
What
We buff killers to compensate for the fact that survivors are now all on the same level, which according to the most recent update, is upwards of 15% more likely to escape. We don't buff them to compensate for exclusive solo buffs but to help balance the game in general.

I’m wondering what specific buffs killers are going to get if solo queue is buffed. There are probably over 1,000 forum posts giving detailed information on how to bridge the gap between solo queue and SWF, but I honestly can’t remember ever seeing any forum posts where someone made a serious attempt to give detailed information for how killers would be buffed so they can handle this.
i remember making a list a while back, off the top of my head the things id change after ensuring solos + swf are as close as possible would be:
- blindness overhaul
- totem spawn improvement
- longer to cleanse totems
- more objectives outside of gens (ie. things to do before starting/after finishing gens to power the gates)
- killers all given some form of map traversal
- kicking a gen regresses 5% by default; PGTW changed to add another 20% onto the first kick after hooking a survivor for 45 seconds
- base gen regression increased to 0.5c/s over 0.25c/s; hex:ruin changed to 50%/75%/100% regression speed
- survivor spawn point improvements

I'm more excited for the toggle interactions; I miss the days that you could hit esc while working a gen and let go of M1. It's coming back in a better way.
I play solo queue most of the time and I personally am happy how it is so I guess more free info will make it even nicer. I hope that it will help with the balancing issues; I really want better balanced killer matches so if this works I'm happy.
the toggle interactions will be so uselful, help save my mouse and my wrists. overall this first part is just wonderful and i hope it keeps up for the second part

But the whole sentence makes more sense in regard of the first freddy nerf. O_o
From Nova himself, he did not mean that first nerf. He meant the one where snare count was reduced, add-ons were neutered, slowdown upon placing a snare was introduced, etc. The first Freddy nerf has nothing to do with this discussion, and if he wasn't going through something major right now I'd ask him to be here and clarify it himself.

I dont tunnel & DS punishes me more than tunneler.
Tunneler: just tunnel off hook. If has DS; eat it and continue to tunnel, because they no more have DS. If no DS; go back to hook.
Me: play it fair, and they still have DS. Then in EGC I eat multiple DS, its a guarantee escape.
I rarely make it to end game (because mmr doesn't work) and even then I try and go for the unhooker through planning hooks accordingly and using killers I know I can get swift downs with, sometimes from a distance. If there's one gen left I'm not hooking someone near a door no matter what.
-
Definitely not impossible, but very reliant on your positioning when you get seen. If you're in a dead zone then no, you're dead on sight. If you're near several tiles you can easily chain together, or somewhere you can break LOS, or somewhere with lots of sharp corners forcing him to not Demon Dash your way, then he definitely can be played around.
It's a matter of where you are when you're seen, which can be alleviated by good game sense letting you know when you're most likely to get chased and moving into place accordingly.
Of course, vs an Oni in his power, the best thing you can do is not be found at all.

personally i love how he called me and my friends a toxic 4man sniping swf with awful stretched res and filters... 3man, not toxic, didnt snipe (only reason he said that is because i called him a groomer in endgame chat + asked about the status of his wr, complete random chance), native res, and only filter i have is colourblind + brightness to compensate for a broken monitor.
he was going on about this for upwards of thirty minutes.

As a Freddy main, he really needed his slowdown addons nerfed. Survivors complained about forever Freddy, because he could stack slow down addons + slowdown perks.
Instead of just nerfing the slowdown addons, they nerfed his power in general, which nobody really had an issue with.

I agree with your statements completely but I'm a bit confused. My apologies if I misremembered but weren't you defending tbagging and BMing in game before? I completely agree that people are affected by things differently, everyone is shaped by their past experiences and it's the fault of the toxic person, not the other party, so, if I'm not confusing your remarks with someone else, I hope you also see why I would find these statements to be contradictory with defending tbagging and BMing.
What I have said before, previously, is that if you are being that aggrevated by BM through in-game actions (clicking, tbagging, kebabing, nodding, etc) that you suffer physical pain and break things then you most likely have an underlying issue that you should at least consider looking into. I speak from personal experience there- getting annoyed enough at a video game to break keyboards and punch holes through a wall eventually allowed me to contact my local GP and got referred to a councilling service for anger management, and they recommended therapy to help work through the underlying issues.
There's a stark difference, imho, between BM through in-game actions and actual, genuine toxicity through words. I do not BM, I hate it, I would never do it without serious provocation first, and I'd like that made clear. However, I also accept that you can never remove it from online games, and so in circumstances like that it's best to try and seek help for yourself, either through taking breaks from the game, or seeing a medical professional.
In circumstances like this, however, where people are going through previous names just to harass your appearance, or mocking the fact that your significant other died of cancer, or telling you to (in less polite words) commit scooter ankle, or any other form of harassment like that, it should never be allowed. In both scenarios, the blame is placed on the perpetrator of the actions, and in both scenarios they are dicks for doing so. However, in one, they should be punished, and in the other, it cannot be realistically removed or punished without affecting normal gameplay so looking for alternative methods for coping with what you feel is the best case scenario.
I hope that makes sense? Small amounts of BM are unavoidable and if it's causing major distress there's probably another unaddressed issue there you should look into for your general wellbeing (I know my knuckles appreciate it much more when I don't use them to break the wall, and having healthier ways of coping has helped me outside of DBD too). Large amounts of genuine hatred and other such harassment should never be tolerated, and the perpretrators should be punished. It's not the fault of the person being harassed in either case.

But Blight is considered S tier. He should be stronger.

devs want 50% so actually being s tier should guarantee slightly above not 90% minimum

While OP didn't make this clear, people with hearing impairments (either partially deaf, so have to play using mono-directional audio instead of the usual directional audio, or fully deaf), photosensitive epilepsy (doctor/flashlights), motion sickness (a locked FOV and tying increased FOV to a perk or stretched resolution) or wrist issues (wiggling, holding an interaction button for long periods of time) aren't well catered to. There's definitely more I'm forgetting.
And while I assume that the devs are working to fix this (ie. colourblind settings, struggle changes, potential wiggle changes, Almo asking people to clip flashlight spammers on his stream so he can send over the team), there's still more that could be done (like DBD Mobile has the heartbeat show up physically, and this could easily be a toggleable option in-game).
-
Yes
But the last petition made by a big streamer was on console optimisation and uh...
-
Any killer with fast movement where they travel via running makes me feel incredibly motion sick- Oni, Blight, Billy. Spirit is fine because it isn't that fast, and her hands being mostly steady help keep it at bay. Legion doesn't move very fast and his FOV increase to match. Nurse took me 3 months of playing with shadowborn just to desensitise myself to it, and then even more when I took it off.
I don't want to put 6 months of effort into learning a new killer just to be able to play them without throwing up, let alone then having to learn how to play them. That's why I don't play him.

Spirit doesnt really has mobility unless you count in mother dauther ring which is a ultra rare addon. Dont know what you mean with deathslinger? Yes his changes where awfull, its still a argument to showcase that we never have seen changes to compensate for a low mobile killer. Even if those mentioned Killers arent well designed (its just a subjective opinion what you are stating here) fact is all these Killers never got any mobility changes so I do believe these are examples of how "good" my change is.
It's an example of how your change is something BHVR would see as good, not what the community would see as good. When you can easily compare a change to something which the majority of the community go "lol that was trash why did they do that", it's probably not a good change in the eyes of said community.
-
I'd disagree. Her 1v4 is barely even there and the majority of her power exists in the 1v1. Her biggest counter is stealth. If you're found by her, chances are you're essentially dead to a good artist. She places a crow at a loop and you either stay (get hit) or leave (she catches up because 115 killer, and you get hit). It makes for an uninteractive chase on one side, which leads to stealth plays, which leads to an uninteractive game on both sides, and unlike old Slinger (where stealth was also his biggest counter), who could get around this by using M&A and having a naturally quiet terror radius, Artist doesn't have this liberty so survivors will know she's coming and will hide.
If you want an example of the best designed killer, to date, at base kit, then look no further than Blight. Some add-ons (ie. 2 add-ons) are too strong, but the rest are fair. His base kit is fair. Exploits break him, as expected since they're exploits. He has solid 1v1 and 1v4 but doesn't feel oppressive in any of them (whereas Artist feels very oppressive in the 1v1 and her 1v4 feels like Legion's strength- non-existant).
Blight is better designed than Artist ever will be, imho.

thats what happened on any other Killer. Any Killer who got changes never got any compensation in terms of mobility. See Wraith, Doctor, Trickster, Nemesis and also on the nerfs, all the nerfed Killers never got any compensation for mobility like Spirit or Deathslinger.
1) Wraith has mobility.
2) Spirit has mobility.
3) People say that Slinger's nerfs were awful. Not a good example to show how your change is good.
4) People say that Doctor (less so), Trickster, and Nemesis (along with most other anti-loop no mobility killers) aren't well designed, at all. Not good examples to show your changeis good.
-
So we take an anti-loop no mobility killer and instead of buffing the No mobility we further buff the anti-loop? Okay
-
If they didn't return it to people who legitimately lost it and had proof of doing so in order to ensure the promised exclusivity, they won't bring it back for a seasonal event. Maybe legacy for characters Laurie Strode and onwards, but not the OG 9 characters.

No, it doesn't. Both sides have issues with balance and enjoyment which both need to be recognised. Absolutely nothing has to be made us vs them, it's the most counterproductive way of thinking. Get it out of your brain that the other side is out to literally murder you and everyone you hold dear and stop making everything a battle between you and them.

Well seeing how I'm now just Silver 2 as a killer, you can imagine I don't have much experience as a killer. I have like 25 matches with Huntress and ~10 with Doctor.
Pre-dropping might not promote much interaction but at least it buys the survivor time that can be quantifiable if loops were cut way shorter, currently some loops are so stupid that I literally looped a Ghostface around the shack for 3 minutes. Do you think that was fun for the Ghostface? Sure was fun for me as a survivor watching him struggle knowing my team is doing 3 gens in that time, but I doubt he liked it. Another game something similar happened with a Spirit, gen in shack, I was doing it, she came after me, my team were doing 3 other gens, I looped her around the shack for a bit, then 3 gens were done within 5 seconds of each other and then she just disconnected, do you think she had fun?
Yes I'm aware Doctor can anti-loop, that's how I'm catching people making mistakes while I patrol the 3 gens and commit for a few seconds when I see someone.
The 4 man squad? They all come to rescue that one guy after I patrol gens, it's pretty obvious when they're about it, so I static blast after they do that + I have spies from the shadows so it's very easy to find the unhooked person and hook them back again as I always try to bring them to a hook with no nearby loops. Then 2nd time I try to hook them they all come body blocking, flashlighting, toolboxing the hooks and don't do gens. I don't ALWAYS get the tunnel, so now I'm stuck vs 4 people on 3 close gens, it's very annoying but because of Oppression + Overcharge it's not that hard to not let them do the last gen by ignoring chases and just running around, giving them madness 3 to force them to waste time to snap out while I kick gens.
Shack is absolutely counterable by M1 killers or anti-loop killers alike, and the fact you could loop people there for so long shows their inexperience and they didn't even attempt a mindgame.
And if you're facing a 4man squad, all 3 of them will not appear at the hook. Ever. One will go for an unhook and one will take a chase while one remains on gens. If all of them appear around the hook then you're far more likely to face solos than the stacked out DeathSquad™.
Furthermore, Overcharge vs good survivors will work a grand total of about 5 times. One for each of them and then one where they miss it through a quick check and madness. There's a reason it's never used when facing very good Squads, and it's because (no offence) the perk is dogshit.
-
Think back to when Torn Bookmark did what it did, and then think back to people using both of her iri add-ons. That's what your experience would be like.
-
You're playing Doctor, a killer who's primary power is anti-loop. If you cannot deal with loops- and since you've only been playing with the free weekend, forgive me for believe you inexperienced in the grand scheme of things- then you need to improve.
You suggested survivors instead pre-drop pallets, rather than loop. If only you knew how strong pre-dropping truly was. It's the best survivor strategy currently in the game, and makes games even more dull because there's absolutely zero interaction on all sides. Out of the three main ways a survivor can, you know, survive- those being looping, stealthing, or pre-drop W-key-ing- looping is by far the most interactive and offers the most chances for you to one-up the other side.
If you're facing decked out 4man squads but they cannot complete 5 gens in the time it takes to tunnel one survivor, you're not facing the decked out 4man squads that people actually fear. In the time it takes for you to down one person with a non-mobility killer will be the time 4 gens have popped and the remaining three are across different sides of the map.
What I do concede from your post, even if you've said it indirectly, is the matchmaking is terrible and the new player experience is dogshit.
-
So long as we fix the grind first because I am absolutely ######### not resetting all of the characters I've already got to P3 50 all perks just to do that insane grind all over again.

what the #########, hahahaha
It's when all the school children are asleep so suddenly you get people who are either semi competent or who aren't at all taking the game seriously, or who are just really terrible. It makes for a much more entertaining experience to watch two equally terrible players run a tile while you stand watching in the background than it does to get facecamped at 5 gens by a Pig w/ 4x slowdown, map offering, and busted add-ons who's name I shall not mention but anyone in EU should know who I mean.

'Offense is only ever taken, never given'
This is such an ignorant comment.
I'm pretty sure it's not MY fault I turned suicidal after 6 years of being verbally abused by the person who wanted to help me sort my life, then got it in his head I was faking my autism, and told me I was a liar and a leech and should kill myself, because I was stealing form his social security retirement, on a daily basis.
But your viewpoint says that yes; it's my fault I let him affect my mental state.
Offense can be given. If I got offended the day someone screamed I should 'go back to Ireland' (I'm of Scottish descent, but was born in the US); it's 100% the racists fault for screaming it. Not mine for being offended.
Your view, that comment, absolves the toxic person, the racist, and the sexist, of their actions and words by blaming their target for reacting to those words.
I'm sorry, but after the hell I've been through, to see someone so much as HINT that it's my fault I have PTSD over 6 years of hell, is disgusting to the extreme.
How ignorant.
We may disagree on game balance quite heavily but yes, this. This absolutely 100% all the way.

Offense is only ever taken, never given. Sure I blame the toxic degenerate, but man, people are messed up and you can condition yourself to ignore their nonsense. It is genuinely possible and I highly recommend that approach. Why waste your time being offended by it, seriously, why? There is no compelling reason to take offense to their insults.
Because some people are affected by things differently than you are. Everyone is shaped through their past experiences.
It's entirely the fault of the toxic ######### that can't handle losing a video game and resort to dropping slurs. It's not the fault of the person being called a slur who doesn't want to be called a ######### slur.
