Not trying to derail but I do enjoy debating so I'ma reply anyways
Mori cancelling had been in the game for years but wasn't really that popular hence why I said it was nerfed within months because once people caught on it was quickly axed
Snowmen being trash vs two killers didn't excuse it breaking two other killers power completely that's trash
I never said that survivors don't have to deal with hackers I'm just stating from my experience killer streamers run into more hackers then survivor hackers now whether that's actually the truth or not idk I'm just stating what I've seen
And yea the nurse bugs are frustrating at times
Please don't take this post as me being mad you, you make great informative posts I just enjoy debating
Oh I wasn't taking it as you being mad dw, I love a good debate just half of these forums resort to name calling before even trying to argue which is where the sarcasm comes into play lol

they once actually did reduce her hitboxes to make them more realist to the actual hatchet, people complained like crazy saying it was impossible to hit hatchets anymore, and I experienced it, legit the hatchet would hit the survivor on the hand or else and it wouldn't hit at all, if it wasn't ON them it wouldn't it or most of the time it wouldn't, they reverted them
The thing that happened there was they went from a sphere to a hyper-realistic one without ever considering the concept of a cylinder.

This has nothing to do with Huntress, it's a latency issue.
It definitely is to do with huntress considering her hitboxes are literal beachballs. On P2P it was less noticeable but her hitboxes are still an issue.

I disagree, old undying was completely busted, especially on high mobility killers from the aura reading and definitely needed a change. Also - a 5-totem ruin/undying wasn't as rare as people make it out to be.

I find people who complain about the devs working slow have never been a developer before and have no idea what it is like to work at a bigger company as one.
Why do you think I said "when the problem is simple enough".
I know what work is like at BHVR and it's genuinely one of the best Studios out there for employees. You get benefits, high wages than is standard in the industry, and there isn't any crunch there that I know of- any that does happen isn't severe. Comparing the speed of changes to the rest of the industry, where work conditions are substantially worse, it checks out.
BHVR as a company are true saints among game studios. Unfortunately their final product suffers due to x-inefficiency when compared to other businesses in the industry which remove this x-inefficiency through worse business practices.

Then go to the other side, if it was a one way path that the killer could body block then it would've been fixed already
It's RPD and I think they mean that one of the exit gates spawns with 2 ways to get to it- out through the bottom door or through the balcony where the helicopter has crashed (same place you could glitch to get out the map- you know where I'm on about??). There isn't enough time to make it all the way around up and out again in the scenario OP describes.
It's just another reason to hate RPD for being terribly designed.

Yea but it seems like they only ever work quickly when it's a survivor issue
Not trying to turn this into a us vs them argument I'm just stating what I've seen from my experience
Keys stayed in the game a year after Mori's where nerfed and got a announcement unlike Mori's
Mori cancelling was quickly nerfed
Nurse remains full of bugs 5 years after the games release
It took them 5 years to change a number on trapper from 1 to 2
Killer streamers face frequent hackers 5 years after the games release
Snowman cancelled twins and ghost faces power
I agree you responded accurately and portrayed the situation correctly I wasn't trying to argue with you
I just was just trying to explain to the guy I wouldn't count on it being fixed soon not trying to argue I'm sure you have your own opinions
Again not trying to argue and derail the thread but some of these I don't think are that fair- mori cancelling was on the game for a solid 2/3 years, for example, before it was removed. Snowmen vs Bubba or Trickster was a death sentence + hackers are also an issue for other survivors (ie they don't really want to be in a hacked lobby and try to give killers kills only to be insta healed and insta wiggled by said hacked).
Can't really defend Nurse bugs tho š

I feel like after a boon totem has been snuffed there should be a 60 second cooldown on any boons being relit, which refreshes when another boon is snuffed.
And then we continue to nerf Circle of Healing over and over again into obscurity because that perk deserves nothing but the worst.

Oh that's great
Oh wait a minute I just remembered these are the same guys that took 2 years to come up with kills and escapes based matchmaking
Yikes
Also the same guys that took about a month to fix Blight's Lagflick
They can actually do things pretty quickly when they want to (and the problem is simple enough)
Also, my point was that they had in fact given a response, which is what the comment I was replying to was on about. Not how long it would take to fix it, but if they even knew about it.

Nah, i played him heaps when he came out and a bit after the nerf here and there. I play without sound because i would rather vibe to music and relax so the "sound bug" was never noticed by me anyway. I swear the travel time of the attack is slower and the pause before i can shoot is longer. Although as op said, sometimes it is faster for no reason.
I might just not notice a difference because I haven't actually stopped playing him and it's been a gradual shift then idk, personally I don't feel a difference so idk

I mean why does it even matter? Like how much do you really need to communicate in end game chat? I'm on console but couldn't you just leave a message on a user's steam profile if you really felt you needed to talk to them without censorship?
Idk maybe I would think differently if I was on PC but I think I would say "gg" or nothing at all in 95% of end game chats.
when people have the power to say things and not risk losing their entire account (and if they do, they can get the game + all DLCs again for free through family sharing) like they do on console they're a lot bolder.

And now it's very common for a killer's power to be "eaten" entirely due to Dead Hard - and we have heard nothing from the devs as to whether they ever intend to fix it. Nemesis' pallet issues being the most consistent/outstanding one that I've seen.
Actually, we do have a response, thanks to forums user @Raccoon

It seems like this is a known issue. We are aware of this and we are currently working on fixing this as soon as possible, however, we are not able to give you an exact timeline on when this will be fixed.

On a quick note, what's your opinion about Plague, Oni, Twins and Pinhead?
Plague:
When I play against her "properly" (ie. do not cleanse ever) she's incredibly boring and is just an M1 killer when people are forever injured. She's not as boring as other killers, because I can play against her at tiles instead of resorting to the W key of pain strategy, giving her chances to outplay me and me chances to outplay her. But, she also comes with the option of cleansing, which then adds in a whole new layer of strategy (cleanse now to force her corrupt at an inopportune time + where to cleanse to make sure she has to go out of her way to get her power, giving her the chance to then balance the risk/reward of getting her power then or maybe waiting). Plus dodging Corrupt, while it may seem unfair at times, is a hell of a lot more engaging than the W key so it's absolutely worth it- plus it then creates the mindgame of trying to force a stun at a pallet, does she respect + get the down or does she risk it thinking I'll greed the loop, etc. It creates interaction and mindgames and it gives me ways to feel like I could've lasted longer if I'd done X, or feel good because I predicted she'd do Y.
Basically, cleansing makes her stronger, but also makes her a lot more fun.
Oni:
With the exception of the 5 gen solo stomping Oni players that exist just to make solo an even worse experience, I love them. His power is possibly the scariest in the game to face when you're being chased with, while still actually feeling fair and, like Billy, you have to also put in effort to get to a stage where you can use it at loops. I like the whole risk/reward of do you use all your resources early to help keep momentum for your side as much as possible by denying his power, or do you save them for later when you'll need them to avoid his ability. I like the strategy around that, I like the chases, and I like the killer. Honestly, the last fun to face killer they added imho (and I say this with the opinion that Blight is very fun when they're not using Alch Ring, RuinUndyingTinkerer, and exploiting the game but since I've met about 3 Blight players that don't do those things he's being shoved into the corner).
Twins:
A mistake. I despise this killer vehemontly. Solo stomper, terrible design, kit massively encourages slugging everyone to death but you can't buff the kit to encourage other playstyles without also buffing their ability to slug. Do not enjoy, and a lot of the time facing a Twins is my reason to stop playing Survivor for the evening.
Pinhead:
I don't hate him as much as Twins, especially now his BoxBuild:tm: and Engineer's Fang have both been nerfed into the ground, but still a solo stomper and I still don't like that aspect of his kit. I appreciate how the anti-loop isn't just "haha i zone now i win the chase" and you need to put in effort, and I really enjoy the secondary objective- if solo had ways to communicate I would honestly love to face him. Plus, the box music is so nice to listen to and before the strat of kidnapping the box was even discovered I was doing it just to keep hearing the track.
If only he wasn't connected to NFTs.
(This wasn't a quick note but in my defence you did ask)

@Zozzy said:
Since you were a pp head main. Did you feel like they changed the speed of his attack? I came back to him after ages and it feels so slow.
not the OP but honestly i don't feel much different- since they fixed that one sound bug he's felt very nice to play imo. it probably feels slow because you're used to, like, every other attack in the game having a much quicker travel time.

I've played a couple of games tonight with her, and some survivors just give up or kill themselves on the hook if they see me as the Artist.
I get it, she's incredibly anti-fun.. but I love playing as her, so I feel guilty playing her.. ;_;
if thats how you have fun, go for it. she's no more boring to me than pinhead/slinger/trickster/nemesis/etc. only one of the anti-loop no mobility squad i like facing is pyramid head but that's because i've put so much time into him that the interaction is back and i can return to actually running tiles. if they dont use their power creatively, they dont down me, and that forces both of us to actually react to each other and play in a more interactive way.
im sure its something similar with artist, and the other anti-loop killers, but holding w works better even against pyramid and im not putting in over 1k hours across 2 years into each of them just to be able to stand a chance at looping. w key is boring but it works so ill take the boredom.
dont feel guilty about playing what you find fun. unless it's, like, 2x range ruin/pain resonance/undying/tinkerer nurse with a midwich offering against solos, then feel free to feel remourse.
-
It has the censor system in place to stop the worst of the forms of harassment, ie. pretty horrible slurs used to target specific minority groups, particularly streamers.
Rather unfortunately, though, it is very draconian and the things it actually does censor don't seem to have any offence meaning behind them, while you can still call someone a "nazi scumbag" for being German. On that note, actually- you can't say German in German (Deutsch)- the filter blocks it.
Good in theory, and helpful to filter out really terrible things that get said because people are so much bolder under the guise of anonymity, and saying the wrong thing to someone after a bad day can have even worse consequences. Games are meant to be fun after all. The excecution is just... patchy.

Boring as ####. Hold forward, look behind to make sure you don't get bird sniped, pre-drop a few pallets and that's about all you do against her. If you loop you're dead so it's all you can do, takes away a lot of the interaction and just puts me to sleep :/
Really don't enjoy facing her, didn't like playing her either. Haven't even got the DLC because everything is just so boring and the same as what we've got before. If I wanna play Artist then I might as well just play any of the other 115 anti-loop killers.
Not OP. Just dull.

Ultra. Yeah. But still, is it normal for monitors to go black? As I'm moving around my screen changes from bright to literally off almost on those maps.
On Ultra on some of these maps? Honestly wouldn't surprise me. I've got my settings customised to suit my eyes perfectly because omg are the base ones lacking in so many ways. Even on High it's about as dark as the subtext of Narnia then you go to Medium and suddenly there's no shadows at all.

Pc. I mean If nobody is having this issue I wonder if it's my monitor then.
What graphics settings are you on? Shadows are turned up to 11 on Ultra (not literally, I think the value they use is 3) but if you play on Low/Medium you should see a noticeable improvement?
Programs like ReShade or Nvidia Filters can also help raise the brightness if needed.
Alternatively it's possible to edit the engine config files themsleves to keep high graphics but lower shadows (also there is possible to uncap FPS).
-
Are you playing on console or PC?
-
Except the orange bubbles I guess?
But no, I disagree, all three of those maps are dogwater horseshit and along with Swamp I advocate for all of their removal from the game

Basic attacks. Similar to Surge (Jolt, ew) or Sloppy Butcher, it only applies to basic M1 hits.
Demo's Shred is not a basic M1 hit, while Slinger's is. His power involves getting them close, not the actual hitting- if you were to break the chain, then stacks would not be changed.

Holy crap! That sounds AWFUL! I hope these things are incredibly rare!
I also got some comments lately that I'm literally afraid to say to quote here. It's insane how malevolent people can get over a game.
Honestly those were some of the tamer ones. Once I had someone go through my steam profile to my Twitch just to insult my looks (if I were to use his exact words I believe it was a "Fat stupid noncey cuntbag" so, lovely fella. Facecamped me on hook and then got really angry that my friend dared use BT).
It was really hurtful at the time, actually, but looking back at least I can laugh through it.
But yeah, if I held onto every grudge I'd ever had from this game I wouldn't be able to function. I'll be minorly peeved at a game for about 3 minutes and move on, it's just what's best for me (and something I've only been able to do recently).
Remember, when you're playing a video game, you are your own priority. No matter what happens, your own health is the most important at any given moment, mental or otherwise. And if you feel the need to shut off endgame chat, then absolutely feel free to do so, nobody can blame you.

@StarLost said:

I hope so.
I had a nasty TTV group about a month back that basically took the game hostage, and in postgame they informed me that their goal was to force killers to DC, or to AFK so they could report them.
I'd have to dig it up, but I remember a Reddit thread a good while back with a screencap of someone (a GM? A dev? I forget) responding to a user inquiry about survivors playing hide and seek not being against the rules, but AFKing these games out being bannable.
Survivors refusing to do gens and only stealthing for a prolonged period of time is classed as a hostage situation, as confined by BHVR employees. Just an FYI on that situation.
Also, going AFK to a bannable level needs a lot of repeated reports within quick succession. If you go AFK because you need to take your cat out or collect a pizza it is in no way bannable.
-
@StarLost said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2722012#Comment_2722012
Then you get mass reported for non participation and risk a ban.
Without video evidence and reports over a long period of time you won't be banned. Going AFK once in a while isn't bannable. It's only when it's severe and repeated a lot that it becomes an offence.
-
I'm nice to them.
My goal when I play is to give everyone a good experience, sometimes even at the cost of my own. I like aiming for 12 hook games and tunneling/camping to secure kills is just boring.
So, if people are toxic to me, I may give back the usual passive aggressive sarcastic remarks I'm famous for on these forums, but I aim to just be more inquisitive than anything and overall just say "ggs" and move on.
Obviously if they're going all the way (ie. this one Felix calling my bf Nazi scum because he's German, or this Huntress who didn't like me and so screamed at the top of her lungs "SUICIDE NOW") then I'll give it back, but overall I just aim to be nice and move on.
If I cared about what everyone thought of me in this game, my mental health would be as bad as it was 3 years ago. I play this game to have fun, and being nice is my way to have fun. If anyone has a problem with how I play, they can ######### right off.

Software issue. I know I avoid it by capping myself to 60fps, helps my monitor too so I don't need to overclock it, and if it gets too jerky I restart (but thankfully that doesn't happen much).
Happens on other platforms too; I think Stadia is the only one immune due to streaming it (maybe GeForce Now??).
-
That we know of, no. No "rumours" from the communication web, either.
-
That's great but I don't have Artist and really don't want to buy her
-
Not saying that's what happened, but yes that's possible. Most hacks display boxes that track location to bypass limitations of aura reading.

Memory leak. Only real fix is to quit and reload the game every 5 or so games, or lock yourself to 60.

It went from being passive from random skillchekcks
to being passive from doing your job as you normally would do it
They removed the random aspect of it, which imho made the perk feel a lot more consistent.

Fact: It still gives passive value and still takes no actual input from the killer. You have to keep them off gens in general
Fact: It's still oppressive
Fact: They started off by saying that it's used in 80% of games and that new players find it hard to play against.
They do not care about veteran players, they do not care if what they did was correct.
But it isn't based solely off of random chance (skill checks), the killer must put in effort to get value (chase survivors from gens), and has a more equal effect on both types of players.

Grocery cart theorem, right?
Correct, I absolutely could have said nothing at all and been just as helpful except- wait, no, no that wouldn't happen because I actually had a point hidden beneath the sarcasm.
The EGC exists as a way to force the game to come to a close, preventing hostage situations under forms of normal gameplay (ie. without hackers involved). It doesn't exist to favour killers or survivors, it simply exists to make sure the game ends. 99'ing exit gates allows for survivors to play around it while being smart, and there is some risk to it as well. Removing this ability shifts the favour of the EGC towards killers and further neuters solo survivors, which is not what we want to happen.

Oh I wouldn't doubt that. That's mostly the only thing I die of if I'm first in chase- dead zones. But it's not common I'm caught off by them that would justify the need for the perk. And really, if bad teammates are in my lobby, it's not going to be WoO that saves the day. It's usually a fast death. :D
well, you do you- i know i'll end up going back to my regular build after this experiement but it's definitely a lot better than just "new player perk". knowing about a deadzone allows you to pre-plan your different routes, and routing is a skill many have long since forgotten in liu of "haha w key go brr"

The number of times I make a fast vault then disappear from the current title, look back and see Killer still mind game himself far behind is fun.
I have, but I prefer other perks honestly. Seeing the killer mindgame themselves is great, but I prefer the satisfaction of pulling off the mindgame myself into the reward of escaping the tile to chain more together. Stealth and I don't go hand in hand- when I'm being chased I much prefer to keep that chase.
