Honestly this was my biggest issue. The sheer amount of survivor matches I have to do to full complete tome 2 has me in the red ranks while killer I only have 2 master challenges left and I'm still barely in the purple ranks...And I still need to do: 5 more generators, 15 safe unhooks, 2 botany medkit heals in a match, 2 blinds in one match

Tome II was very survivor sided, who knows, Tome III might be the inverse.

A counter is an active counter, what you’re talking about is a passive counter. Having remember me/devour doesn’t make ds weaker, it becomes stronger thanks to ds (it’s slightly different).

moris are a ds counter, but they’re not infinite, so not reliable.

It’s like saying: washing your teeth prevents from dental decay (active counter). Not having teeth also prevents from dental decay (passive counter).

So it's a counter! Together we can understand things in life!

With respect that sounds very much like a best case scenario. Your totem doesn't get cleansed and you get the final 2 tokens without hitting anyone?

Sure lovely when it happens but how often is that?

It's been happening just about every game where I get a Mori or two off as needed. Yes, being able to Mori before they even know I have Devour is a best case scenario, but not one needed for a Devour to be effective. Just like with Ruin, if I can trap it, I can protect it so it doesn't go down(it's best to hide Devour, ofc) . And just like with Ruin, if the spawns are garbage and break, Devour CAN be in LoS of them spawning.

  • @YaiPa said:

No. The only real perk that could counter ds was enduring. It’s like saying that remember me counters ds, it’s a wrong concept.

How is using a Mori with Devour so they can't DS not countering it? Either way, I avoid it. Remember me makes 3 survivors open gates slower. Who's really missing the concept?

  • @Helevetin_nopee said:

Sort of off topic but anyone knows when the next tome will appear?

Don't take it for fact but I'ma guess either the 1st or 13th

  • Well, this comes with an issue of an increase of queue times. Also, if your rank 9 then you should be almost ready to face red rank players anyway. If I'm not mistaken, the max differentiation there should be is 6 ranks higher or lower than your own. If there is more, then it is because swf groups matchmake based on the highest (lowest number) rank.

  • It is rather unlikely a Michael will get to T3 before many gens see done unless a survivor or two gives him free max stalk.

  • Oof imagine not being a Trapper main.

  • @Peanits said:

It's possible, but we tend to rework or update existing perks that need it before adding new perks on top of the ones that are already there. More perks means more bloodwebs and a lower chance of finding the ones you actually want. No One Left Behind is a very recent example of that. Rather than piling on a bunch of new perks, why not make one that's not being used a little better?

Thanks Dad, good to have you around.

  • @Venom368 said:

I can see this becoming an issue that people complain about. It gives the killer the ability to walk to a generator that was just completed 5 seconds ago and be like, "Oh that's Blendette's and Dwight's charms on the generator, so I know there is at least 2 people right here hiding. And Blendy is dead on her next hook so I'm going to stay here until I find her. That also means the person who just got the unhook across the map must be the Nea."

It seems like it would be one of those things that devs add to the game to be fun/cute, that players eventually figure out how to abuse to gain a competitive advantage

    @Deadeye said:

@Venom368 Well, in first line, the completed gen gives you the information that someone is around. Depending on the time you needed to get there. And if it influences your choice in knowing who you can tunnel down, I'm not sure if you would say "It's just the Nea on this gen, didn't hook her once. Can't tunnel her, so just leave her" or what? Or "It's the dwight and Claud, I can tunnel Claud. Found Dwight, damn, go on searching"

I mean, if you hook someone with BBQ, you can see by the shape of the auras who is who. That gives you a bit more information than who completed the gen several seconds ago. Sure, it is some kind of information, but your example really doesn't convince me. And I can't find any other 'abuse' at the moment.

    @NeonSystem said:

Absolutely love the idea, but it might just mess over the survivors who are strictly going for gens. I know that gets into genrushing, but why not have all the survivors' charms (or the first charm they have equipped) hung on the generator poles when 1 is complete, regardless of who did it.

This could easily become a non-issue if a random charm is selected for the gen/charms aren't on survivors asses anymore.

yeah i was just thinking with bop coming out with its new "buff" it may be good for killers like michael or legion.

True! I'm not sure if I'd ever find a use for it. The bloodlust speed is all I think is helpful for me considering I just hide my red stain before turning a corner etc. But, between the two, Beat Of Prey if you had to choose. Iron Grasp already is available and is a slightly weaker version of Agitation.

  • I only buy top tier perks or perks on licensed DLC killers from the shrine.

But, agitation is nice to have. You can get anyone anywhere, it feels like.

Majority of your posts so far have just been you crying about survivors opinions ngl..

Well about the slugging... people have better things to do than just crawl and look at their screen for 4 minutes while you are probably proxy camping the slug on top of that so they won't get away. I usually just hook the third survivor and don't care if they find the hatch before me. The only times i slug at the end is if the remaining survivor was toxic af or if the hatch has already spawned, i might look for it. But i'm not gonna tryhard and waste mine and everyone else's time for "muh 4k".

You don't have to care about ranking up, but a lot of people do. That's the only reason why it's done. If you have Unbreakable, then you are in luck, if you don't then you can still get crawl for hatch, hide for a teammate go rescue or recover. If the killer is camping, that only gives the other survivor a chance to get gens done and escape.

Saying OP is crying is just silly ngl, shows your immature ngl.

  • Test server doesn't have matchmaking that cares about ranks, may have something to do with it.

  • I've been hearing he's OP lol

Feel like it's gonna be the same case as hillbilly where people stop complaining when they learn how to play againt it

  • I was at 23 a week ago and fell off a bit lol

As long as you can get the challanges done, it is going to be easy pz for you if you play most days

  • @caz_ said:

with the upcomming patch/update they will now destroy one more perk = Balance landing.

a perk what wasnt OP at all, the only reason would be the haddonsfile map where you can abuse the infintes.

so because some swf groups bullied some killer with picking a offering and running to this house all the time they decided to destroy BL?

so the devs pretty much punish me and other solos because of these swf groups? tbh what is the point of playing solo anymore if all useful perks get nerfed all the time?

why would i make my life harder with these randoms who DC, cant do gens or loop? every killer main was complaining about how strong swf is, but it really seems like the devs want solos to force finding a group a play with them. instead of reworking the map you just destroy this perk i dont get it.

i suppose now after 2 years of playing i need to find a swf group to play with, to have fun in this game?

Belive me if the devs keep nerfing useful survivor perks every single solo player like me will find a swf group to have fun.

it seems like SWF is the only thing the devs will never touch/nerf or do anything about it, so thats my safezone now right?

im so dissapointed devs really, you do one good thing and then it follows with 3 bad things. Thanks devs!

I'm sorry the only way you know how to play was using a perk than can be very abusive?

  • Most the speed bumps are meh besides number 2 imo, but I like the additional objectives of having something like finding a single gen part when there are plenty. If it makes the game more interesting for survivors, I don't think it'd arouse riot mobs. Especially with top tier killers getting nerfs like they have been.

go watch any big killer content creator. they do just fine. most of the complainers are awful at the game

Most big killer content creators are at low ranks, do scummy tactics blatantly, or are just great at killer (Monto vs Otzdarva) Not to mention they aren't going to upload their terrible games. They won't post a bunch of boring loser games.

Playing killer (when the survivors are somewhat skilled+) is hard. You have to play optimally nearly the entire game while half the survivors time is spent getting on gens and not missing skill checks. Survivors take turns doing the hard part and killers simply can't. And if one survivor is good enough at looping time is wasted and the games over before it started.

I main Trapper and the vast majority of trials I take in 2 generator slow/regression perks cause I can never have enough time. The whole '5 gens can get done in 3 minutes' thing is exaggerated. That won't happen if your trying... But that doesn't negate my point at all. Realistically if you make a mistake as killer it could cost you a generator, which could cost another, which could cost the game. If you don't keep significant pressure up the game is over before it has even started.

All this being said is assuming your aren't at low ranks or playing blatantly scummy (which can still turn out with a terrible loss).

Lol you were the guy telling people to stop complaining right?

Anyway, the forums are for sharing ideas. This is what OPs doing.

  • I'm new. Someone please help my head hurts for not understanding these things. Explain.

    Please :c

  • Why not the skill check gets progressively harder as the timer runs down (?)

I'm not talking about a complete even transition over time, but, let's say, the last 15 seconds for example.

  • All these people saying play how you want to play. Facecamping bubba's will agree with you, however. You *can* play how you want to play...

Sure, as long as it's for the team! Look. Everything you do as survivor effects other survivors. As much as some people hate to realize it for some reason, you all are effectively on the same team. No one can win a 1v1 against a killer. They need you to keep the killer busy or be doing an objective. Wasting pallets makes keeping the killer busy harder for other players. Just take a moment to think of your skill level, if it's early game and your being chased at the shack and you cannot use the building anywhere near it's full potential, take what you can from the window and find other loops to use the killers time on.

That the way I see it.

  • Break line of sight as soon as you can while staring at him if your having trouble getting him out of stalk, literally all you can do if he finds you and is staring at your ass. Just something you get better at.

And as a note, if you think Ghost Face has a good amount of stalk on you, know that he'll avoid hitting you until he can return to night shroud and get it full (getting hit resets it).

  • +1 Honestly yeah, regardless about how you feel about the cosmetics becoming free, if the reasons they're doing it for are true they should also deactivate the codes. Or at least tell us why they are not going to.

There are so few Killer challenges this time and they're mostly Master Challenges which is fine as they reward more but there are only 5 Killer challenges, hooray for playing Survivor and WHY does the Killer node END with a SURVIVOR CHALLENGE?!

I know the Challenges are meant to get progressively harder down the line but some of these are designed to be done through dozens of games or play like ######### to get them done. Use 6 Med-Kits, well if you play Quentin you can start with a Med-Kit and then find a Med-Kit but then you rob everyone of Altrusim points and maybe you'll die before you can use the 2nd one.

I am not excited for Grabbing 1 Survivor off a Gen, Grabs have been so bad because of the servers that I lose chases because it denied me the grab and they got away; I don't trust that I can get the grab even if I play Ghostface. That's another thing too, ''Grabbing'' can only be done by Licensed stealth Killers and all of those are paid DLC, that challenge requires you to spend money to complete, unless you're a damn GOD with Tinkerer or have a Coxbombed Clapper on Wraith.

Am I the only one seeing killers be nice asf(lip) so someone give them a grab? I've already had a few and it's kinda sad how far people gotta go lol.

But, if you play enough, you'll end up in a game where you have the last survivor in endgame collapse from closing the hatch. Just don't give them a chance to do the door until it's at the point of do-or-die...no at the point of do-or-get-stabbed-by-a-#########-floor tentacle-spider-arm-thing and pull them off. Just kinda follow them around and stare at them for a bit. They'll know they're screwed at that point. You'll get an easy grab.

For real? I really don't care. You should do the same. It's not healthy when you think that you are special just because you have something that not everyone else has. The worst part is that we're talking about video games.

    Boomer spotted?

  • Finally something helpful on the forums, phew.

  • It's important for the devs to listen to feedback. They are doing the right things, but just a lot of the time not in quite the right way. They could be more subtle in nerfs that happen, but this spirit thing really is just giving survivors more of a chance in situations they have no control of. Most of all: prayer beads. Those were very mean. Now they'll be a tool to mess with survivors rather than get free hits or grabs.

Spirit was over preforming. If you disagree, then you disagree with the devs idea of the level killers should be preforming at, which should be the topic of discussion.

  • @Squoose I'm sympathetic to people who had the exclusives previously. It's honestly irrelevant how they got it (ex: if money was paid), however. These people did something that others did not for their code, in other words they earned it. I did not nor did the majority of people. Saying they had the satisfaction of having it while others did not is very weak reasoning. They should get something for compensation. I do get why having something others don't feels nice. I went for P3 Trapper(bad descision I don't regret) before putting BPs in almost anything else. It's nice, I earned that. Not too many have. I like to show it. Going to an event, traveling, or even buying the exclusives is still earning it.

I do like that they are lessening exclusives. Those are dumb. But, compensation should be paid.

  • Hol up pal. This entire forrum flows with negativity! I'm just trying to enjoy it... Maybe that is a little Scrooge, huh?

  • I made this so I guess I get to play too, right?

Hate it when I get DC penalties when steam goes down...like twice a week sometime..

But the devs said the average player should be able to complete it. They said that playing one hour per day would be enough to complete the Rift. This isn't something the players came along and claimed should be the case, it's what the devs claimed to be aiming for.

So it's the fact that the devs said it, and the information they gave is wrong. The math says it'll take more than twice as long to complete. Instead of 70 hours in 70 days, it's more like 175 hours in 70 days.

    Sorry...quoted the wrong person.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The problem I have with the pass is a few reasons:

    1. Auric cells are a trap to entice you to do the pass, with the promise you can get the next pass for free, but it's not designed to be completed because of this. I would rather Auric cells be omitted from the pass, making the pass achievable for everyone and possibly make the free track look at least somewhat more appealing than a pimple. They are literally only in there as filler and to inflate the grind whilst being bait. This is very manipulative, and not consumer friendly at all.
    2. It's not as consumer friendly as you think. Think logically for a minute: If the Rift was actually designed to be completed by the average user as they had claimed (which we know the math doesn't add up), then why is there a purchasable "time saver" that people can buy to skip all of the grind? This goes against everything they said. If it's as easy as they had claimed to complete, why does the time saver exist?
    3. This is more my opinion than anything else, but I find charms to be annoying cosmetics. Having a bunch of objects hanging everywhere ruins the game's atmosphere to me. Besides that, most of the reason charms even have any value to them is because they are exclusive. Anything can be ugly in a game, but you slap exclusive on it with a time limit before you can never get it again and it immediately makes it more valuable because it's 'rare'. It's a cheap tactic to me. This was after their promises that they'd not release exclusives anymore, by the way.
    4. It takes way too long to journey through the rift without buying the time saver. It takes me over 6 hours a day to gain 1 tier. That's ludicrous. Even if I were to do all of the challenges, mindful of the fact we also had an 11 days headstart on this rift, I'd still need to be playing 3+ hours a day to break even. God forbid I miss a single day or three, which is a very real possibility considering the rift will go through until Christmas.
    5. They bold-faced lied to us regarding the rift, about it being consumer friendly, when it's clearly designed not to be at all, as well as the outrageous lie about the amount of time required, which anybody who sat down for 5 minutes to work out the math could have figured out was wrong. Either they were intentionally lying to us to try and sell the rift, or it was a woeful miscalculation -- either one doesn't bode well for them as it was 'false advertising' for the Rift either way.
    6. DBD is not a free to play game. It's already expensive enough as it is. This quadruple dipping is ridiculous in a game you already need to buy to pay.

The inclusion of the Rift as well as the reasons I stated above means I am not opening my wallet to BHVR until they prove to me they can be trust worthy again. I do not trust them after the obvious lies about the rift and the manipulation tactics going on.

I will not buy the rift, because I do not support manipulative schemes nor do I support lying about something to make it sound better and less manipulative than it actually is while trying to claim "we did this for you!" Absolutely shameful.

    Just a few questions:

Where is info on the time savers..? I looked for a few minutes, but couldn't find anything.

    @Zensunim said:

The math says that with 100% completion of all archive challenges, it will still take 8 games to complete EVERY DAY (for the bonus XP). Depending on your queue times, that can be upwards to 2-3 hours a day every day. Average players don't got time for that. I don't know what's an "average player" to a DBD dev though.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/100386/did-the-math-on-the-rift

Is the ~175 hours the time it takes to complete the rift with or without doing challenges? Because if it's without accounting for that I'm afraid the time taken is going to be much lower. I have the feeling people are throwing that around and not thinking about it. I'm at tier 24 and I have put nowhere near the ~62.5 hours I'd be at.

  • @Witas said:

The problem with the rift is the enormous amount of time to required finish it, the system itself is fine other than that (obviously as fine as having a paid battle pass in a paid game with paid dlc and paid cosmetics is, which is not fine, duh.)

Personally, I don't believe that the average person is supposed to complete it. I'm at tier 23(or so?) and play the game a lot... obviously. It's something to reward players who've earned it, not something everyone should get for being around at the right time. That's at least what I think of it. Yes it's a ######### grind tho...
