Damn it man! All I wanted to do was explain how we as individuals do not truly despise any particular piece of software but rather the persons that use that software not out of genuine interest in the good as a whole but instead as a pathetic attempt to gain some popularity and approval of others so that when time finally runs out and death approaches they can feel that they accomplished something in their sad existence as a mortal creature that will inevitably die as all things will.
@Peasant knowing you I just KNEW you'd reply with a seven mile long, needlessly complicated and fancy sentence which no one can makes sense of :P
Just stick to things you're good at. I hear you're good with kids.

@Hoodedfengm1n Ah, but I wasn't actually serious about killing them. Did everyone seriously think I was, serious?
@Peasant yes. You're an inspiration to all of us. In fact, I've already told the officer I did it because of you.
Oh and back to topic. Kill: CS:GO.
Keep alive, well, the best game of all times. Sacrifice!

All I need with Clown is to be able to tickle hooked survivors until they expire.
-
Mind if I just flag you for spam instead? No? Thanks.

@Hexyl a LOT in this game is purely luck dependent. Survivor/killer spawn locations, totem spawn locations, pallet and window spawns, whether you're facing perks perfect or completely useless against the killer or perks you use, items found in chests... and kobe.
One thing you need to understand about online multiplayer games: luck HAS TO BE a factor. So even if you're amazingly skilled, you'll occasionally lose, and if you're the most potato player ever, the Entity will still cut you some slack every once in a while. If it was purely skill based, and everything would be predictable, it would lose the "gamble" factor. And most importantly, less skilled, casual players would lose 100% of the time, so they'd just stop playing. That would be bad: we need the potatoes too.
If we want a completely skill based, RNG-free game, there are a few. Chess is one of them.
-
Not even funny.
-
I find it hilarious :D
I don't see much chance of this being picked up by the devs, but so cute and bizarre the same time. I guess the game moved from horror genre to horror comedy though (Ash... meh), so hey? We may just get a puppy for a killer someday ;)
-
We're Gonna Live Forever. I still got four characters I want to P3 and get all perks for.
-
@hikarateboy just why? About 1% of killers camp anyway (no, me going back to the hook to see if there's someone around is not camping). Understand: trying to limit players in their most basic action (moving) would kill the game. Doing only SAFE rescues is on you, when playing survivor. You simply can't tell other players how to play, and sure as hell can't force killers to give you a free chance to unhook.
Just as importantly: please, please do a damn search before you start a new thread about something that has literally been discussed a thousand times. If you want to add something to the camping topic, just find one of those threads and post there. This forum is choke full of camping, NOED, and "toxicity" threads. So unnecessary... all of these are non-problems.
-
Doctor is my big new favourite. Always thought he sucks, and he does to some extent, but I love how you can use your TR to screw with survivors, I love how stealth is not an option against him. BP wise he's also a very good one, a little hard to max out Sacrifice score but all the rest comes easy.
-
The proposal is very reasonable. No one should be coming off a hook fully healed and with a huge speedboost. So counterintuitive, and imbalanced. When you're off the hook, you SHOULD be vulnerable. I understand it's necessary to keep the survivor side easier, but it would be enough to either leave the speed boost only, or the healing effect only, after a rescue.
To be honest, I wouldn't mind if the perk would not work at all if you're hooked when the last gen pops, but I guess that would make too many survivors unhappy, and BHVR cannot risk that. But at least partially wasted? Why not? Think about Deliverance: a perk that comes with a risk of being completely wasted if hooked first, AND even if it's working, it comes with a downside. That's balanced. Current Adrenaline is not.
-
Most of you seem to forget: stress is fun. No stress is just... meh. Boring. Make me want to smash my keyboard to pieces, that's how I feel alive!
-
Yes. You either have to use faster reload addons, or aim carefully and make those bottles count.
One thing I often do to go around it is this: I try hitting survivors with my cocktails to slow them down and get a hit. Then, they often run to a safe "run around that pallet for half an hour" place. There, while we're dancing around the pallet + long loop object, I can easily reload. If they break the dance, I cancel reloading and (hopefully) hit them. If they stick to it, I finish reloading and that helps me cutting that loop.
It's hard to do around high walls or anything you can't see through, but on a lot of maps, especially Autohaven maps, most pallet loops are around low objects.
-
I had some great laughs yesterday with a newly added friend. Playing SWF, no comms, got massacred every game, still made no big deal out of it. These are the people I like playing with: no crying about "crutch perks", "toxicity", "CAMPER F*GG*T NOOB TUNNELER" and so on... Just having fun and taking a loss without going ape every time.
This is not to say you shouldn't do your hardest to win. You should, game's not fun otherwise. But after the game, take a deep [GOOD_WORD] breath, before you'd start spewing bile. Learn to appreciate memes too and give some love to that Leatherface jealously guarding you throughout a whole game. Especially as survivor: yeah, you'll get killed every once in a while. I keep telling you, that's what survivors are for.
-
Heh, good point. One killer can hit survivors easily but can't down them, the other could theoretically instadown them, but has difficulties catching them.
*sigh*
A killer's life ain't easy!
-
Jack-In-The-Box :D A scary puppet pops out of the chest. Item or no item, but it gives a nasty sound and notifies the killer.
-
I'll still miss Hatch grabs. Some of the funniest moments of the game.
But maybe I'm just a weirdo. I kinda miss juggling the Obsession too.
-
@LastShoe thank. I may give it a try.
Death to the meta!
-
Absolutely :)
But I'd be quite satisfied if, as Plunderer's gives a very good chance of finding rarer items (including those goddamn keys), Scratched Coin and Cut Coin, in addition to their current effect would also reduce the chance of getting an item of high rarity.
-
Dumbest perk ever, and it so very conveniently came out after DS was changed.
Never facecamped in my 2700 hours, but as soon as I experienced firsthand how MoM works, I started to do it to any survivor who I suspect is running it.
-
Other than his power, Doctor is a very weak, easily loopable M1 killer. (No, the ability of his shock therepy to disable vaults and pallet drops only helps against inexperienced survivors.) He NEEDS the passive Madness increase, and yes, the screaming too: your most important edge, as Doctor is that you can find your patients easily.
-
I usually don't risk not healing against her: too worried about the addon that makes your aura visible to her every time you puke. Which is all the time.
-
I just started using it and was amazed by how useful it is. But I have the feeling 45 meters would make the perk worse, not better: with 45 meters it would go off even when the killer is not heading towards you, chasing someone else, etc. It would just prevent you from working on generators. Take it with a grain of salt: as I said, I'm still experimenting with it, but that's how I feel about it. Though the cooldown period seems a little too long for me too.
@PeepingPeacock : I'm curious, why would you say Spine Chill is better? Sure there's no cooldown, but how does it help against a stealthy killer to know they're looking your way if you have no idea from which direction? You may just run right into them. Never used it myself, so I could be wrong.
-
A millennia old truth is, people don't refrain from doing wrong things because they know it's wrong, but because they worry about punishment. Lacking it, they do whatever they want. Punishment works. There are a lot of good natured people around here saying "gameplay should be more rewarding", "not DC-ing should give you certain benefits", but it's just not true. A lot of people couldn't care less about any BP reward, cosmetic or Iridescent reward, or a badge. They just don't care if they screw up a game of four other people, and they feel they can do it with impunity. Sadly, they're right at the moment.
We can go on about the technical difficulties of telling an intentional DC from a crash, bug, etc, but... 90% of the time it's obvious. Every second game these days I got someone disconnecting right after being downed, or heck, even just hit. What are the chances... Devs don't need to decide for every DC whether it's because of technical reasons or not, what they need to do in my opinion is to put simple algorithms in place, where, if you disconnect right after being downed, hit, picked up, you'll get a warning, then maybe an hour ban after the second time, and so on.
With all that said, I understand there's still a problem with bugs that make you quit: crashing, being stuck and having no other option than leave the game, and so on. I'm guessing the most important reason devs don't address the current DC epidemic is that as long as DC related bugs are not fixed, they hesitate to go hardcore on ragequitters. Plus, some of these unintentional DC-s are beyond their power, like Steam sometimes randomly going offline.
I wish they'd be at least more open about their policies: they say if they told players the exact DC ratio for bans, people would abuse it. But there wouldn't be much to abuse if you only had a few chances before you get a temporary ban.
-
I see nothing wrong with Kate there. Often when there are only two left, it makes no sense to save the other, better just bide your time and get the Hatch. Sure, it's more rewarding to do bold saves, but sometimes it's just not the smart thing to do.
It always makes me smirk when someone talks about a survivor "deserving" an escape or not. Morality is not really a factor in this game I think.
In fact, I've been thinking of a meme build lately: using the new Left Behind, hiding away whole game, letting teammates busy themselves doing gens until they all die, and only THEN finishing gens and taking a gate instead of the Hatch. Just for the fun of it.

I hate rage quitting but i understand them and those who do not are delusional. you think is great to play 10 game in a row being Tunneled/camped/moried. then saying GG to killers when you've played 1min never seen a community being so anti-pathic as DbD.
We all want to have fun when we all know that there is only one side that get the fun. players rage quit for a reason and devs denies them so we get what we get.
@xllxENIGMAxllx sorry, but if you're tunneled throughout TEN games, it's your fault. If after the first few you don't learn to start a match more immersed, then it's just about you being unwilling to adjust. There are countless ways to prevent being tunneled. I know saying "don't get caught" is a bit cynical, but you can start off stealthy, and start doing gens only when you have some idea where the killer is.
Simply put, not matter how much you're "not having fun", it does not entitle you to ruin the fun of four other people.
-
Well, sure, but why do you share it with the rest of us?
-
@sleephartha Just no. Aside from glitches, there isn't a lot of valid reasons to DC. I'm so tired of people trying to find excuses for disconnecting. It's always about making some excuse up, instead of admitting they just can't take the stress of losing.

When you are in chase with legion (he is litteraly 6 meters behind you) and the timer of deep wound still going because he is looking the ground and when you drop the pallet he wait with his back to you for the end of timer... Just no. I will DC again and again. I dont feel bad for those players and their Chili stacks.
Georges_soros your avatar is a good picture of you.. You are a f clown.
@Tylerz while I don't approve of DC-ing, in this case, I understand why people keep saying moonwalking or otherwise exploiting the flaws of the chase algorithm is a ######### tactic and borderline cheating. It's a hard thing too: I assume it's next to impossible to find a perfect definition for the conditions for chase starting/ending... can't really blame the devs for failing at that. Strictly speaking, when I spot a survivor miles away and go after him, especially if he notices me as well, should be considered a chase, but it doesn't count like that. Reversely, sometimes the games thinks I'm IN a chase when I can't even see that damn Claudette. Happens a lot in corn and on Yamaoka: chase music starts, I get the "Survivor Found" event, but I can't see them bloody bastards :P
The only way to deal with it would be if people actually had some spine and did not intentionally cut chase while staying hot on the trail of the deepwounded survivor. I do that when playing Legion, and some others do too, but then again, there are people who couldn't care less about fair play.
As fo you, @The_Crusader : there's little other choice than playing stealthy if you want to go to high ranks from low ranks as survivor. Don't be the first one hooked, don't risk too much for saves and so on. It's actually one of the most interesting aspect of the game: as survivor, you can be successful by playing very selfish, and by playing very altruistic too. Once you hit the high ranks, you'll have less to worry about potato mates... although it happens on every rank, so there's no sure way to avoid it other than SWF.

@TheLegendDyl4n1 that's why a 3 or 4K should always be a +1 or +2 pip. Someone who plays like you should rank up. More experienced players can 1/ counter basement camping better, 2/ are not supposed to be as salty and butthurt as newbies (actually, that's not the case, but if they can't handle this after 1-2K hours, it's on them).
I don't mind basement camping Insidious Leatherfaces. You people are an integral part of DBD culture. It always makes me laugh, and I'm always hoping my aimless little fellow survivors are foolish enough to try and save me, and they all join me down there :)
It only sucks when I'm using a Cake or BPS, but... life is hard.
Btw @Condorloco_26 , you said it very well.
-
@twistedmonkey yeah. Exactly.
I'd just add two more notes here: one, the devs' preferred playstyle is already greatly rewarded by BP. No way you can get a lot of BP, if you quickly kill everyone.
And, related to that, lately whenever I'm out to get as much BP as I can, and I've already dealt with two survivors, but the rest still have some hooks in them, I just pick up and drop the last one in front of the hooked third one, let them save, go after the savior, then let the other save... all the way until the 4K. Ridiculous, but by doing this, you're better off both BP-wise and pipwise. They usually cooperate too, especially if they have WGLF.
It's just... this shouldn't even be a thing. How silly is that you're rewarded MORE if you actually let survivors save each other, and punished if you don't?

Took a while to get the required muscles strong enough to make things move without pumping them full of blood.
@PiiFree very impressive. You're a proper role model for youngsters!
On the other hand though, on behalf of the whole community, please, please do tell us: are you circumsized?

@Kurisataru I agree the usefulness of it is very questionable, to put it mildly. But I like funny perks. I used to dislike trolling, but lately I find it more and more fun. There was this time when we already opened exit gates agasint that poor Bubba, I was the last one, and I just had to do the lockerjumping thing in the shack, near exit, so when he finally made it there I could give him a final stun and get out. He was cool about after game, fortunately. I think after 1-2000 hours most of us prefers funny stuff as opposed to try our hardest every match.
-
I got a better one: genrush.
Sounds weird, I know. But if none of you have been hooked more than once the whole game, you'll have enough time to find and cleanse that little totem while your mate is hangin'. It's actually a more effective way than a Map, Detective's Hunch, or Small Game.
I still prefer Small Game, simply because of the satisfaction I get from cleansing all dulls and look at killer's loadout in the end, when he's packing NOED. But genrush as I described is more efficient.
-
I really want to invite @poopman to this conversation :D
-
Yea I often got this message too, and what's worse, 70% of the time my lobby gets filled up with people from the other side of the planet, with pings 3-4-500. And often, when I finally get 4 people with decent pings, they turn out to be rank 20-14 in the end. Makes me feel bad, although I'm guessing survivors too have a hard time ranking up these days.

Does this include all the killer whiners crying for survivor and map nerfs all the time?
@darktrix pretty much. I've always been one of the few killers who did not think DS was such a big deal - Enduring countered it quite effectively. Similarly, I just can't wrap my head around how many killer mains whine about teabagging, flashlight spamming ,TotH spamming and so on. After game trash talk too. If you lose, just take the trash talk like a man. You earned it. Answer is: don't lose. Coming here and ######### about how underpowered you feel is pathetic. Killer role is made more difficult for a reason: most people are pussies and don't like challenge. Therefore, the role that requires a higher number of players MUST be made easier, otherwise there would be too many killers and not enough survivors. You should take this into account when playing Killer: it's not meant to be easy, nor should it be.
But yeah, I know, some killers struggle with this concept and just want dev Dad and dev Mom change their diapers so they don't have to do it themselves. Pathetic. Fun to watch though...
-
@PiiFree hey, I'm great at that!
-
It's great for memes. You know that place with five or six lockers on the new map? I wanna play SWF, with Head On on and everybody, plus Vigil. All of goes into lockers there and wait for crows, then stun the killer again and again and again. I wonder if we can pull it off long enough for the first of us to recover from Exhaustion (I think Vigil does not stack, sadly... does it?)
-
To my surprise, I stay at R1. Probably because I play Legion often: he's a fun killer, and one of the best for BP hunting. New ranking system rewards his playstyle too, while it punishes Billy, Leatherface, Michael, and it also punishes skilled Nurses.
Not sure about survivors though. When I play survivor, I almost never pip, but it may be me: I'm not that great. At any rate, it's weird to see two silvers, one gold, one iridescent... and a black pip.
-
I'm just using my real name, why?

@VoodooTheKiller said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/384923#Comment_384923
Good example. Given this, I'd say they should add a timer towards the point system for killers getting kills in the start of the match, at least to bump them up just a little bit towards pip gain. So, it'd be like how survivors get more points for gens the longer the game lasts. Balance. You should make a thread on that towards the developers.
@VoodooTheKiller a timer: yeah, maybe. To be honest, I'm much more leaning towards the most simple solution, not adding more and more conditions, caveats, restricitions and so on. 4K meaning +2 pips and 0K meaning -2 pips would be exactly that. And the real benefit to it is that the most competitive killers would get to high ranks, and would play against the most competitive survivors, while the more casual killers/survivors would stay at middle or low ranks, and so for the most part, everyone would play against their equals, roughly speaking (provided that Survivor ranking system is also accurate, but I don't want to get into this since this thread is not about that).
-
Legion is a fun killer. Either survivors just DC, which always makes me giggle with joy, or they actually know how to counter it, which leads to intense chases. Yes, some of you sad creatures keep saying there isn't a counter to Legion. Objectively speaking, this is bullcrap. Not having scratch marks is HUGE. Here's a tip: you have to start looping around windows/pallets in a location that's either a jungle gym or some other location that has walls you can't see through. Pallet Country in the middle on Gas Heaven for example, is not good at all. If you're hit the second time, (or just the first time, but he abandons you to chase someone else), lose LOS as while he's still in stun, and try to take a route he'd expect the least. Mend and spread. If someone is hit and you hear the TR, don't wait or hide, just run. Try to figure out early whether he's trying to tunnel, or he's more like the "hit 'em all" kind of Legion (this is more likely if he uses Thanathophobia), and adjust your tactics accordingly.
I' not even saying it's easy, you actually must have a quick mind. But that's why it's fun.
People who say there's no counter to Legion are just unwilling to do anything else than running in circles around a pallet loop. Of course you losers go down :) And instead of learning new tactics, you find it more proper to come here and scream like kids. Very impressive :)
-
You just need a bit of practice with those throws. Sure, Clown is not the strongest out there, but you can still mess them up once you get the hang of it. Unfortunately, you must have decent addons every time, otherwise Clown is indeed very weak. But some browns and yellows should do the trick.
-
@VoodooTheKiller I understand your aversion towards camping, but you misunderstand the concept about rank. It's not a "reward". Ranking system should do one thing only: mark how effective and successful a player is, so the best ones can be put together in matches. The best games are always between players of similar skill, otherwise someone just gets destroyed, while the other has a game too easy.
That's why killer ranking should not be based on anything else than kills. The "intense gameplay" you're asking for is fine, but it's not going to happen if rank fails to show the actual effectiveness of a killer.
I give you an example: say, there's a Billy main, very experienced and effective. In any game where he happens to oneshot everyone, and he does it so fast that everyone is onehooked, this system will punish him for it. The only way he can rank up in this case, if he cheeses the system and lets survivors unhook in front of him, purposefully does chases without catching someone, etc.
The biggest problem is, that this way he will stay at low ranks, and so he will keep facing less skilled survivors, which leads to more quick and easy games just like I described.
Sorry, but if you 4K, this means you did better than if you had a game with lots of intense chases, rescues, but ending with only a 2-3K. Doesn't matter if you 4K via heavy camping or on the contrary, by being great in chases. Again, rank should not be a "reward".
-
It's for bragging. Totally worth it.
