  • Killer size is a horrible disadvantage for M1 killers. @Poweas : I love you and all, but you've lost your marbles :) You'd take away one counter against basement Borrowed Time saves, while you'd keep the advantage of survivors when it comes to those silly Tom & Jerry loops.

Only through my cold, dead body.

Btw, as far as I know, devs don't have an issue with either of these two problems. So it very well could be one of those "issues" that the community desperately argues about, while BHVR is not even considering any change ti them. Like NOED.

  • Nurse is fine as she is. I used to be strongly on the "nerf Nurse" opinion, but lately I've been trying to play her... man, the frustration is almost intolerable. Kudos to anyone who can master her. They definitely deserve their 4K-s.

  • @T0xicTyler yeah, a lot of players would definitely do that. There isn't really a better solution than temporary bans, increasing each time they DC.

  • Do totems.

Seriously though: play killer, you'll see some of them get genrushed incredibly easily no matter what. NOED is not "rewarding bad killer gameplay" (god, such a cringy cheap rhetoric). It punishes survivors for, yeah, you guessed right, not cleansing.

How you all cry about one relatively weak perk, which by the way has a very effective counter (Small Game) is beyond me. I guess complaining and trying to put pressure on devs to appease you is easier than adapting.

  • Not a big deal. Divorce, give up university, quit your job. Don't go out shopping just order pizza. You'll have plenty of time to get them bloodpoints. Time management is the key to success.

  • Killers too: I want Tombstone Piece on Nurse.

  • "overwhelming advantage"... I'm laughing here hysterically...

Play the game more. You'll see.

  • There is counterplay though, and not hard: only work on a generator when someone else is grabbed/injured/chased/carried etc. Also, be aware of when she just used her phase walk so you'll know you can be safe for a while.

  • I am a rank 1 survivor but never play killer because I have terrible internet.

I've been struggling hard to play without Ruin succesfully (death to the meta!), but there are not many alternatives. The most frustrating thing about it is RNG: if it spawns in a lucky spot, I can have a very successful game, even against decent survivors (no one can ALWAYS hit greats), whereas if it spawns someplace bad, I get genrushed no matter what.

Unfortunately, there are hardly any perks to effectively replace it with. Thana nerf is heartbreaking, Huntress' is a joke, PGTW only helps the high mobility killers (yes, the ones with the least need for slowing down gen progress anyway). Overcharge can be decent on Doctor, but even on him it's limited, and completely useless on any other killer. Corrupt Intervention may work on some killers, it's helpful if you can hook someone early, but frankly, the correct counterplay to it is easy: play immersed for that 120 seconds, or look for totems, chests, etc. Not a sufficient substitute for Ruin either.

And that's about it. The only thing that has a remote chance to replace it is Dying Light + a Mori. But even though tunneling is nice, it often doesn't work out.

So... yeah, this game badly needs some other, creative way of slowing down gen progress.

@George_Soros If I have 2 hooked one down and I see the last person I'll just ignore them and let them save. I hate a game ending with less than 25k points.

Although I slightly disagree with the 3 hooks score for 1 hook thing. It would encourage more people to face camp and I hate that mentality.

1 hooking can be annoying because of people killing themselves but I'd rather that than reward face campers.

@CashelP14 well, about the facecamp part: yes, understandably the devs don't want to encourage camping. But that also leads to a problem: camping only works against potato/rescuehappy survivors, any survivor with decent skills will know what to do in this case. So if you actually manage to facecamp and capitalize on the overaltruism of survivors, you should still rank up, so you finally get to a point where you have to realize facecamping is not working. It simply shouldn't be the purpose of the ranking system to prevent facecamping. This is something that must be done through gameplay mechanics. I'd be completely down for making hook states longer, so even the most devoted facecampers give up eventually.

Well, some of them will never give up, but they're already a minority.

It's fun, i just hope they implement a Minimum Distance Between Gates so they arent on the same wall in very close proximity to each other

@Mat_Sella what I badly need is a MAXIMUM distance between gates. With gates powered on horrbile maps like Léry's or Azarov's, it's a nightmare with my favourite killers like Clown or Doctor :(

I really don't understand: how am I supposed to properly kill those evil survivors in this situation?

  • @tt_ivi_99 "Im rank 1 because I play with survivors before killing them,"

Yeah, that's why ranking system is faulty. You actually have to let them unhook, prolong the game (without letting them fix gens too fast). Basically, you get to high ranks by playing the way devs want you to, not for actually playing well. My survivors often wonder why I let them unhook, then immediately down and hook them again. You gotta cheese the system if you want a decent amount of BP and emblem scores. Quite stupid to be honest: if you can massacre the whole bunch of them fast, you should be getting MORE pips, not less than if you fool around (or are fooled around).

Survivor emblem scores are quite faulty too: they don't count for a LOT of actions that help your team: dull totem cleansing, taking a hit to protect someone, trap rescues, and, though I hate saying it, you should also be rewarded for not simply doing gens, but doing them FAST, kinda like reversing killers' Gatekeeper score. And as many pointed out, sometimes a survivor gets chased for five gens, yet no pip. This particular problem could be fixed by removing the Emblem score cap for categories.

And then, it would also be necessary to give Emblem rewards for the remaining survivors for early DC-s (and BBQ stacks to killer).

I personally don't farm as a killer as I find it boring too, but there were people who did farm as killer during events, but it's like they all vanished.

@Nutty_Professor yup, not so many people are out there to farm. The ones I mentioned were the exceptions. Which is great, even though it occasionally means a humiliating 4E and a wasted BPS/Pudding, but that's part of the deal.

  • Lately, Doctor, with 7000 acre TR. I love those screams :)

  • Heh. It's not like you're not blamed, insulted, called "sweaty", "tunneler", "tryhard" and a lot more for playing the best you can even after a 1V4 game.

Ignore them man, just ignore them, and continue with the killing.

  • Quite a few survivors DC-d when they realized I'm not going to farm. Silly kids. Even I DC-d once when at start all four spammed noise notifications, then started sticking to me, signaling they want to farm.

Blood Hunt or not, farming is horribly boring. I wish everyone just tried to play normally, even during double BP event. Farming matches can take much longer than normal games. I get the same, possibly more BP/minute if I just play normally, while, if farming it's just a tedious chore of hooking, instant rescue, offer myself for pallet stuns... it's just meh.

  • @Frozenscum I played a lot of Freddy and I dare say I'm decent with him, but I never played like that, especially with Overcharge. Rather just take anti loop perks and down them, get rid of as many pallets early game as possible. Quite interesting. Maybe I'll try it.

    /OFF I guess

  • Cracked me up when Peanits posted this extra "stat".

But really, who the heck goes to opera? I remember going to opera once: fell asleep after five minutes, then the applause woke me up at the end. I love classical music. But opera singing... no thank you.

  • @Frozenscum I prefer 32000 BP and 4K in every game :)

But you haven't really answered to what I mostly want to emphasize: Freddy games tend to be very long, so BP/minute rate is actually lower than with most everyone else, maybe except Piggy and Plague who have been dealt a really bad hand BP-wise.

  • @CashelP14 yup it's one of the funny/annoying effect of the current pipping system: If my last two survivors still have two hooks in them, I always try to slug both, hook one, keep dropping the other next to the hooked one, let them rescue, down again, hook the other, repeat... more points for all of us.

Frankly, onehooking someone (last survivor, by facecamping, or simply because no one is rescuing) should give you the same amount of BP and Emblem score as hooking three times.

  • Unless killer is doing it for more than 1-2 minutes, it's okay. It's funny.

  • Legion (I assume you mean farming without consenting survivors). Doctor is pretty good too.

@Frozenscum and @Zarathos : Freddy looks good at first glance, but he's actually not a good BP farmer. Yeah you can shore up around 30 000 BP a single game, but that game takes twice as long as with any other killer. I rather play two games for 20-25000BP each instead of a long ass game for 30.

  • Yeah Adept Plague was a real pain for me as well. Adept achievements should be awarded for 4K, not Merciless, especially considering how the requirements now scale depending on rank.

[Edit:] btw, Adept Plague achievement stands at a solid 0,1% on Steam, meaning 1 out of a thousand players have it. Even that nightmarish Evil Incarnate is 1,1%.

  • No, it's just the killer equivalent of exit gate teabagging. Kind of an ######### thing to do.

  • @fluffybunny you say "If people are feeding you kills and running into you so that you get an easy down, you didn't do anything to show you deserve the pip."

That's a wrong concept. Ranking up is not a reward. It's a tool to group players with others on their skill level. If you get a fast 4K it shouldn't matter it's because of survivors being potatoes, you still should rank up, so next time you'll have more of a chance to be matched against better survivors.

  • I'm with @Delfador there: if there were plenty of cakes and/or BPS, I may farm with them. But it's horribly boring, and there are sooooo many DC-s lately that I'd have to spend most of my playtime "being nice". I have the utmost respect for survivors who just signal me to hook them fast and let them move on to the next game without DC-ing. That's what I do as survivor too.

Farming is the most cringy aspect of the game. Whenever I play survivor, there's nothing else that annoys me more: being facecamped or tunneled, getting destroyed by purple and pink addons, getting moried... bring it on, don't care, even if it's during Bloodhunt. But farming is a waste of time.

It's difficult though, I never know which of my survivor is new, I prefer going more easy on those. However, if you got 1000< hours, you really shouldn't be surprised if you get killed by the killer, DC or not.

  • @thrawn3054 it's really about the amount of time one has played. Somewhere over 1-2000 hours, many become more interested in ######### around than actual play. I still laugh my ass off every time when someone drops a pallet in front of another who is chased by the killer, even when I'm on the receiving end.

I recently had one such game as killer and it illuminated the big problem with it too: sometimes there are 1-2-3 players who just want to do the meme stuff, while the other(s) want to play normally. That's bad. I guess for real meme games, like dancing around a generator, sandbag competition or pebble volley, you better get an SWF team of four, otherwise you may ######### up someone's fun.

  • "Season pass" pretty much sounds like some EA style bs. If you wanna throw money at BHVR, keep buying cosmetics, there is a lot out there. If you prefer to pay only for actual content, buy chapters. BHVR, if you guys want more income, just raise the prices for new chapters. I sure wouldn't pay for some vague "voucher" or "coupon" or "pass".

  • @PhantomMask20763 I don't know what you're talking about. He looks pretty normal to me. I mean, he looks pretty much like most anyone in my family, and there's nothing wrong with us.

  • Mori is a fine idea, but I got a better one: play killer, don't use any addon or offering. If you see any Cake or BPS... TASK MANAGER, CLOSE APPLICATION.

    :)

Just kidding. Don't be an #########.

  • @SunderMun said:

lmao all the trolls with no life genuinely getting salty that I recognise a foresight and I'm asking why. K.

@SunderMun "troll with no life" that's definitely me. But it's kind of silly to react to good news (with some hickups, granted) as if it was a move from the devs that's either has a devious hidden agenda ("deprive the players of their BPS-s and Puddings *evil maniacal laughter* "), or a sign of complete imcompetence. Sounds a little paranoid, or at least, grumpy.

It's a happy event. Can you manage to just simply enjoy it?

  • I think @Supernaut has a point: a Pudding, for example, gives you a bonus 100% of whatever BP you scored in total in a game. Meaning, you get the same bonus when using it any other time than a double BP event.

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

And of course, whatever the math, it's still a heartwarming feeling to get 200 000 BP fo a single match, which is possible if most players throw in a BPS.

  • Geez people, we've been waiting for double BP event for a long time now. Now that it's coming, you can still find something to complain about?

  • @fluffybunny I'm not really "suggesting" such a concept: I realize most players would not like it, there's no way it's going to happen, and I'm fine with it. Just saying I'd like it better that way. Personally, most of the time I don't mind being brutally murdered if I had done well in a game as survivor.

And yeah, you're right about "horror" factor wearing off very quickly. But sometimes it comes back with a new chapter or paragraph, when it's well done. For me, Ash and the whole Evil Dead franchise is just meh.

I just realized, I'm going off topic with this too much. To the OP: I'm not so sure. Most people, even the loudest proponents of one side or another would get bored in no time if one side was actually, truly OP. 90% of them (ok, us) are just venting frustration when screaming for nerfs and buffs. The game is in quite a good state balance wise, the only real problem is the addon system.

  • Why do they ask me about how often do I go see a ballet though? :)

  • I've been playing Doc a lot lately, and for a famously weak killer, it's amazing how this build is so effective:

    Distressing

    Brutal Strength

    Ruin

    BBQ (only for BP)

Jigsaw Piece offering, and two purple addons, one that increases you TR in Treatment mode, and the other that increases static field effectiveness by 25%.

Of course, you can't use a map offering every game. But you asked for an OP build. This one gifted me with countless disconnects, especially when Ruin is in a good spot (second floor). Ruin or BBQ can be replaced with Overcharge as well, works fine once they're in Madness 2.

@George_Soros Except we're not, because 00:00 UTC on 02/05/2019 was roughly 10 hours ago. Midnight is the start of the day; not the end.

yeah that got me confused too.

    Eh, Canadians.

  • Oh lol, I just found the countdown timer for this.

I don't know which is funnier: that we are so hungry for BP, or that we're such simpletons that calculating event start in our own time zone proves too much for us, even though we're given all the numbers we need.

@onark no don't do that, some replies are a bit too bitter, but make a quick search and you'll literally find dozens of discussions with exactly the same suggestion. Can't blame people to give somewhat rude answers when it's fair to think that you did not bother to look around before posting something posted countless times before. No biggy, but the forum can easiyl get clogged up by repeated topics simply because people want their voice heard more than listen to others.

While I agree...it goes vice versa. Killers don’t work hard to find their add-ons. Say that to my 30 ultra-rare Father’s Glasses and 27 Wakizashi Sayas with Spirit.

@MegMain98 quite right, but I didn't say we do (although there's the small notion that a lot of killers MUST use decent addons every game to have a chance, while survivors can be perfectly fine without any items). I'm currently running low on Smelly Inner Soles... does someone have a spare?

  • Just like others said: we use it for that exact purpose, to destroy your item.

You say "I worked hard to find that item". Nah. You just clicked on a Bloodweb node. That's not hard work :)

  • The whole point of Michael's perks to give you incentive for different playstyles: spread the love and avoid the Obsession, or the opposite: tunnel the living crap out from him/her to gain an advantage. I personally love Dying Light, precisely because it encourages the kind of ruthless playstyle which makes this game so much fun. Tunneling can be quite effective in general, but if you succeed in it and you have Dying Light too, it's a blessing.

  • It's more like, we have different definitions of "balanced", and then the devs seem to have their own way of looking at it too. The way I see it, both killers and survivors should have about the same chances to get a decent amount of BP and pips. But 50% as a desired escape ratio is crazy. Escape should be a very rare event, I'd say about 10%.

I understand this game is moving away from horror genre towards the "horror comedy" genre (Evil Dead... ugh), but I think it's a wrong direction.

  • He's not evil, just helplessly romantic.

  • The whole problem would go away if, on top of the upvote and the downvote button, we'd get a "Hate" button. It'd be so much more clear when someone just disagrees with you, and when someone actually hates your guts.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

@LCGaster - Good spot! Are you as outraged as I am? I'm ######### outraged by it lol

@JawsIsTheNextKiller I wish. Didn't even notice. I'll just blame my phone.

  • Yes. Even if new killer is underwhelming, with weak perks, not great design, etc... unless it's complete garbage, I kinda want to support the creators. There's a lot of work done and is being done to improve the game, and I sure as hell am not going to buy pointless stuff (cosmetics). I'm willing to pay for real content though. Hell, if there was a modest price for patches with bug fixes, I'd pay for that too. Would make more sense than getting some silly virtual outfit for a virtual character in a virtual universe.
