I would love to return to Patch 2.0.0 which was the Clown's release.
The long anticipated Kate Denson arrived, along with a killer that people thought the developers would never add and a bunch of cosmetics that were hot.
Not to mention the Patch which removed the pallet vacuum! Now that is a fine choice :)

I'm sorry but I don't understand. Wasn't old Freddy almost unanimously regarded as being very weak? Otz seemed to see potential in him at the time but then again, the Devs could literally release a generic killer dude with a super weak power, and Otz would still find a way to somehow make an interesting build.
Most people who claimed Freddy was the worst killer did not understand him at all. He wasn't the best, of course, and was in need of a few buffs and QoL improvements (never a full rework tho)
However, that does not mean he was the worst. If you knew how to play him properly you could make gens take forever. He was unique, and required an unique playstyle.

Not really, not now that Wraith's really awesome.
Wraith main, right? Well, I can understand that. My decision goes beyond my main, but if we still had Old Freddy I would likely reconsider.

I’ve only been around since mid 2020 but I’m assuming it’s because the way pfps looked on the forums were changed at some point but they had to actually change who was on their pfp to get the new look. I’ve seen a couple with the old pfps as well and assume it’s because they haven’t changed their pfp since it the look got changed.

I've noticed this too, and it has always thrown me off.
If you go to your profile and squint a little, you can actually see that there's a bigger and barely-visible square surrounding your profile picture. My guess is that when the forums were first created (May of 2018), that was the standard size for every picture, but then it was later shrunk.
But I didn't join the forums until right before 2020 hit, so all I can do is guess.
Oh, I see. I guess that explains it, but it is sad to think that they are exlcusive to 2018 members, because I didn't join until 2019, and those profile pictures look GOOD.
Anyway, thanks for the help :)

if i could return to any point in time in terms of dbd's history, i think i'd honestly go back to plague's release- demise of the faithful.
it came with a good killer, good killer perks, my favourite survivor perk in the game, and made ds the weakest it's ever been (including current ds). the game wasn't that buggy, midwich didn't exist, and we also didn't have ghostface.
a close- and i mean very close second is patch 2.2.1. it was before spirit and legion, we didnt have to worry about yamaoka estate, the game just felt nice to play. and no spirit.
Oh, you are right, my friend, Plague's release was also a good time to play DBD. Perhaps I would've chosen this one, but my nolstagia for the Winter Solstice is way too strong.

-
I don't think so.
Freddy's Dream Pallets are one of the two interesting things about his current power, but making them base kit would do nothing. It wouldn't fix any of his problems, and honestly it would make him a little bit annoying to go against (not to me, of course, but to other players out there).
But then again, pretty much nothing can fix his current power. The devs need to acknowledge that they have screwed up his rework and revert it. This is the right thing to do.

Ok, I accept defeat. I was not expecting that, at all!

I agree with you on this! I love the Silent Hill map because of the startling noises, the body falling out of the locker, etc! I wish they'd do more atmospheric things like that even if they are campy and cheesy! I'd also love for the fog to return to the game. Having full map visibility takes away from some of the spookiness of having a Michael staring at you from the distance or a Ghostface creeping up on you. Stalker Killers seem a little disadvantaged without the fog which is a shame!
By the Entity, that is exactly why Midwich is my favourite map! It just feels creepy, it feels right.
And yes, the Fog must return, we should embrace spookiness again.

I guess I'm lucky I main Blight then.
Though I guess this experience proves that even playing him on Lery's isn't enough to earn sympathy from some survivors.
I guess nothing is. The Nea who I've mentioned died because of her own mistakes, and she was still angry at me.
But I suppose they are just internet bullies, nothing more.

Considering what Spirit mains have to endure, I would say we are quite lucky.

It truly is hard to understand people sometimes. But then again, a salty Nea once told me that I should burn alive because I main Freddy, and after reading that post-game insults hardly surprise me anymore.

Same, even though it didn't particularly make the game any scarier, it still had a much better feel when everything was a lot darker instead of the bright sunny maps we have now lol.
Indeed! I still don't understand why they decided to create a sunny map for a horror game. It is beyond me.

I do actually miss 2016/2017 DBD maps. Back when they used to be darker in tone and the mist was more prevalent. The mist regents hardly ever show up in my matches and for the maps that are dark like McMillan and Autohaven, it's not the same kind of darkness from a few years ago. It's kind of hard to explain lol.
@Kirkylad said:

Yeah I agree that the maps did have a darker and creepier feel back then.
Nailed it! That is what made the game creepy, but now it is basically gone. It is probably the first topic on my extremely long list of reasons why I absolutely despise the Realm Beyond.
Wish we could have those maps back, somehow.

When you get past 100 hours you realise this isn't a horror game. Survivors are going to do things like bodyblock because it helps the team and it's a smart way to play, we can't expect them to play like rank 20 bots forever.
You are right on this one, my friend, but the creepy ambience we used to have certainly helped, even for those way past 100 hours.

Yeah, I automatically translate "always" etc to mean the more down-to-earth versions of whatever the sentence is, like, "most of the time". I assumed that most people also automatically translate it, but that's not the case.
However, the translated versions are also untrue, in regards to the topic in this thread...
And - everything else aside - if you're even getting tunneled/camped as often as you say... maybe get better at the game???
Survivor gameplay has been SO EMPOWERED over the years, they're basically Kryptonians standing out in the open, fists on their hips and chests expanded proudly, just WAITING for the Killer to dare challenge them to a chase. They got 100 pallets, 200 windows, and 300 flashlights all primed & ready. 400 stun & escape perks, by the way. The Survivors are MORE POWERFUL than the Killer these days.
... And so, they've totally forgotten how to even play stealthily. Which used to be this game's roots...
"they're basically Kryptonians standing out in the open, fists on their hips and chests expanded proudly, just WAITING for the Killer to dare challenge them to a chase"
This is actually terrifying.

It sounds interesting, but the developers will not give Freddy a full review after the nerf they gave him, I find it quite balanced and being in tier B seems fair for both sides.
Yeah, I know. But I just refuse to give up. I refuse to lose hope.
Anyway, I am glad to see that you've found it interesting :) I really tried my best to come up with a perfect Freddy.
Thank you for the feedback!

The devs don't seem to be very keen to revert any changes that required more than a few work hours to implement.
And even then, one thing I can tell you for sure. They will never implement in this current era a killer with 40% slowdown basekit. Especially, because the dream transition would be unavoidable due to incapacitated. And even without that, self-care is not meta anymore, which back in the days was a counter to Freddy. Stacking slowdown perks, on the other hand, is very much meta. And that would spell disaster if this reversal proposal went through.
"The devs don't seem to be very keen to revert any changes that required more than a few work hours to implement."
I would laugh if it wasn't true... However, this isn't enough for me to give up. I will never lose hope. I can't lose hope.
As for the rest, 40% slowdown is 10% less than what he used to have and can be completely denied by a simple wake up action. The Dream Transition was always unavoidable unless you got a lucky skill-check, and the Incapacitated would be there to prevent you from finishing a gen or an unhook right in front of Freddy, which was stupid to begin with.
As for Self-Care, I never intended it to work with this change. Healing skill-checks wouldn't wake you up, because that was extremely unbalanced. But no one uses Self-Care anymore, so I guess it doesn't even matter.
Last but not least, slowdown perks. They are somewhat of a necessity, but it is not guaranteed that the Freddy player will be running them, and even if he is, they have their counters: Thanatophobia can be removed, Ruin can be removed, Pop is not always active and the list goes on.
I think this change would be a win for Old Freddy players and survivors who find current Freddy boring.
By the way, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it.

I currently have Meg maxed out on P3 with every perk in the game. Still working Yui towards that as she’s also P3 but still got a bit to get her maxed.

But Claudette is the only queen in my opinion... or was, as the upcoming model change is not something that I am looking forward to.

I like bringing the ear, then setting eight or nine traps in a tiny area like shack or in a straight line through a long, narrow corridor.
Call it psychological warfare.
I see. It is a strategy after all, just an annoying one.
Please don't hunt me with that... -

I find new Freddy 100x better than the old one, 7 seconds mean free escape for survivors 90% of the time, just for them to awake on one skill check..he was like m1 killer that needed 7s to hit, he got wallhacks on distance, yeah, but that aint gonna help if loopers are good, he was and will always be the worst killer in the game, i get it, nostalgic and stuff, maybe even a survivor main, dunno, but dont say you are his main and everyone wants him back, cuz you know he was worst, bad designed killer, u mention something about patienc yet with those 7s you got all the time in the world lol..new Freddy is blessing for him, its fun for me and i love it, ty
7 seconds of Dream Transition was not the problem. The problem was that the survivor could do anything during those 7 seconds, when it should have been restricted to a actions, such as dropping pallets or vaulting windows (both of which you could play around with mindgames or old Pill Bottle, by the way).
Besides, survivors missing skill checks all the time was a good thing to you, hence why Overcharge was god-tier on him. Yes, Self-Care mid-chase was problematic and it needed to be addressed, but thats about it.
Look, if you find New Freddy fun that is okay. More power to you, I guess. I am just sharing my opinion here, the opinion of someone who lost his favourite killer.

Yay. What a... Great sendoff.
Well, Mother's Dwelling hasn't changed much, if I am not mistaken. But we all know it will, eventually, which is disheartening.
I am not ready for that...
