  • I play everyday, I really enjoy this game. Although, I'm more excited for the upcoming content & changes

  • If I may offer my opinion..

I remember in Multiple Streams that one of the devs goals is to encourage more interaction between both roles (Killers and Survivors).

I think with the newer killers, they're applying that philosophy.

I recall in the Devs' Anniversary stream they mentioned in working to improve the Emblem system, there's going to be a mechanic that rewards chaotic matches. Meaning, the more that is going on, the more chaos there is, the killer will be rewarded.

Back to the subject of this philosophy being applied to the killer. I feel this is a step in the right direction, as the killers should be strong. But also, to be stronger involves some involvement from the other role. It also adds some tension as maybe your decisions as a Survivor will either help or weaken the killer.

I can see they value interaction between both roles, rather than a straight face roll. Because it's truly a multiplayer experience.

@Peanits is this something you think about when designing a killer?

Wraiths is legitimately creepy. Definitely one of the scariest skins I've seen in DbD.

Yes it really is, like idk what that is covering his face but it's creepy. Imagine him appearing with that skin behind you lol

  • Tbh, I really like Adams "Disparate Arts" Cosmetics, I feel he needs more cool looking cosmetics as this recent one was a step in the right direction

  • Boil Over, I think it's because I so badly want it to make a difference. It does of only 1 second if they bump into something

  • You all have valid points

  • Or at the very least limit the number of people in swf to 2 Survivors and then you could survive in pairs while in the match with another swf pair of Survivors.

  • @PinkEricka said:

This was already discussed upon forum members and a dev itself. No one would want to play with/against SWF and it would make the queue times longer.

I heard in the anniversary stream they would implement an in game friend system and party requeue, is this to make it so solos won't play solo anymore and always have someone to play with, just because solo play at high ranks is getting harder to manage?

As far as seen on leaks, just three extra cosmetic customizations, no bonuses and yes, they come in the 3.0.0 with ghostface (14th) and for the 18th there is guaranteed a charm for both roles (a birthday cake)

    Ohh I can't wait :)

  • Also, will they release with GhostFace?

  • @Angelicus23 said:

You can equip three charms. For survivors they appear on the pants and for killers on the hooks

Are the purely cosmetic? Or do they provide small bonuses?

  • I love The Game. That map is a masterpiece and masterclass to me of having stealthy spot and healthy distribution of pallets. Also, I love indoor maps, I wish we had more of them.

  • As Legion Down 4 Survivors with feral frenzy in a span of 60 seconds from each other.

    :)

  • Maybe the Entity favored you this time instead of the killer and the doves grant healing... Lol

  • Take off the 1 second delay after unhooking yourself from Deliverance. Currently once you unhook yourself it stops you for one second just to tell you that you're broken.

  • @se05239 said:

In order to rank up, you need to do a lot of stuff.

Stealth is not worthwhile anymore, you need chases.. so why even bother hiding? Run, get found, get chased, escape. That's what nets you emblems.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying hide all game, but bumrushing the hook as soon as the person is hooked? Failing at baiting the killer and ending up being downed.... DC'ing.... People not doing gens and running around like headless chickens unknowingly letting the killer snowball from the down, hook, and save cycle?.....

    C'mon...

  • Also, I love the physics on certain outfits

  • Get off the forums then....

  • It would cause unnecessary controversy and make the devs shut the game down. No thanks.

  • @Peanits said:

Not quite sure what you mean by questionnaire. The only thing even close to that would be the Q&A question thread, but we took a bunch of those questions and answered them in the livestream yesterday. Beyond that, any actual surveys are handled by a separate team.

The answers to some of those questions are here, though: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/67124/

So where can we go to ask questions and when do you post the thread?

  • I get what you're saying. But as you said, you've distanced yourself and are just coming back.

So for the past 3 years BHVR has made increasingly frustrating, Questionable, and concerning decisions both balance wise and from a game design standpoint. This will be yet another Killer who out of a whopping 15-16 killer that is not able to keep up with high skilled play in top ranks. Their map design terrible which spawned looping, then on top of that any glaring issues they try to play them off as features. Or ignore them, or even make unnecessary changes. How is it some of the bugs from launch are still present in this game when it's been 3 years?

There testers and Q&A team isn't that good either.

They have messed up ALOT, and Unfortunately it takes people to act like this for them to actually make significant changes. Someone in another thread recently said this company has grown complacent with this game and now only seeks to do either the bare minimum or they're not prioritizing things right. And that is a direct result of not having competition.

Not to digress, but recall when F13 first released and was breaking some records in the short time for 2017, DBD was creating better quality content and even decided to release on a 3 month schedule.

They stepped it up because they realized at the moment, their consumer audience had another option.

Now that no competition is here, they've grown a bit too lazy in there releases and in the quality of their content.

So while yes, some of the post are uncalled for. Alot of this they have brought on themselves from being tone-deaf to the needs and wants of their consumer base.

"A merchant in Baghdad sends his servant to the marketplace for provisions. Soon afterwards, the servant comes home white and trembling and tells him that in the marketplace, he was jostled by a woman, whom he recognized as Death, who made a threatening gesture. Borrowing the merchant’s horse, he flees at great speed to Samarra, a distance of about 75 miles (125 km), where he believes Death will not find him. The merchant then goes to the marketplace and finds Death, and asks why she made the threatening gesture to his servant. She replies, “That was not a threatening gesture, it was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Baghdad, for I have an appointment with him tonight in Samarra.” ~ Appointment in sammara

    Wow very cool yet eerie

  • Because her stance fits it, she could have a clock swinging in her hand instead of her incense burner and one of her outfits is already a hood essentially, covering most of her body.

I wouldn't like this on legion or GhostFace...

  • Of course not, I would probably die of electrocution from trying to fix the generators first

  • How is it the first day of the ptb and they leave this huge bug in the build.... it's not good first impressions

  • Why should people rely on a killer to teach the basics instead of a whole tutorial that is in the menu. I believe that's an excuse to keep killers weak. "Stepping Stones" shouldn't be a thing in the first place in this game. You should like to play how you want with who you want and still reach rank 1. However, the amount of skill required on probably differs, but it should be doable with ANY killer not just a select few.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/66676/remove-the-offering-screen

    The offering screen is fine.

They just need to make it so that if someone DCs in the offering screen, they lose 3 pips and any addons + the offering they use, as well as cancelling the match for everyone else.

Dont punish everyone because a few people are dicks.

Sadly I don't think this will work because rank is so messed up it will just be a faster way to derank deliberately.

  • Same, I'm trying to play the damn ptb and it's already a long wait and then these things happen. They need to remove the offering screen altogether in general...

  • I like how he plays, he does fit my playstyle however tweaks need to be made for stalking. I can see this person being one of my mains.

  • Tbh ghost is fun however it's difficult to get survivors

Just wait until you can't even do it in the live build June 18th.

Everyone is rushing to play ghost since he's the only new piece of content and its breaking everything.

If this is what we're getting with not even a map or new survivor, this is disappointing...

  • Everyone, whether you like or dislike Death Garden the most important thing is that we now have another solid Asymmetrical Game we can play. We now have options :)

I've said long ago intentional de-ranking is bad for the game. It is the functional equivalent of SMURFING and everybody hates smurfing, and knows that it is bad for any multiplayer ranked game.

Survivors will not benefit from de-ranking because as Gardenia said you will be paired with potato survivors, and you need teammates in this game, period.

Killers can really benefit from de-ranking, because you only need to rely on yourself, so you can have a field day killing teams with potato survivors in them. But if you are a killer who de-ranks to smurf you are the scum of the earth and you should be ashamed of yourself. You are worse trash than the "SWF bullies" you complain about at high ranks.

Couldn't have said it better myself

    @Aceonfire said:

    The problem is very simple.

over half the people between rank 10 and rank 20, are better than half the people between rank 10 and 1.

There are 4 basic s types that play this game.

    1. Experienced players who season after season reach the purple and red ranks at relatively the same time and stay there for the remainder of the season. (providing the occasional drunken night of fun and little memory of how you are in the green ranks again) These players have a firm knowledge of the game +serious play time and a small percentage of this group are the elite. i.e excellent loopers, understand how to counter most perks on both killer and survivor side etc.)
    2. Novice players who, mostly through play time, reach the upper green ranks 10/11) and stay there for nearly the entire season. They may reach purple near the end. They are either bad but play ALOT or decent but don't put the time in to grind up in the ranks
    3. Experienced players who do not want the challenge/salt/drama/tryhardiness of facing other experienced players at lower ranks, and stay in the 10+ ranks on purpose. For a survivor capable of reaching red ranks, playing at these ranks is just simply more fun in A LOT of ways to them. They win more. They have more freedom to play in a style that makes the game more fun. They can troll novice players with much less risk of fail etc. Key thing though is queues are just not an issue for many though I'm sure.
    4. Novice players who literally just installed the game a few days ago and have close to single digit's of hours in it. New players will reach rank 15 and be absolutely lacking in any real knowledge of the game's mechanics.

Games that make up group 1 and 2 are likely going to be normal games. Typically, all players probably have a decent score regardless of the outcome.

Now, combine any of the other groups and look what happens:

Group 2 and 3 = possible de-pipping match for group 3 and then group 2 gets the shaft on unhooks, heals etc etc. Group 3 is a swf, 3 man, and the other guy is from group 2. Good SWF? Probably gonna farm the Novice and likely will have 0 consideration for him regarding his lack of experience. = ######### time for the group 2 guy.

Honestly I was gonna list other examples for the other groups, but if you've kept reading this far, then I'm sure you can come up with all the big problems that would happen when the other group combos play together.

Throw the current ranking system out.

Rank based on the stats of the player like good games do. Add a new database server or 10, make sure you set them up proper so you don't make the game even slower than it was/is (not sure I stopped player months ago). If a survivor has 500 escapes under their belt, probably don't put them in a match with a surivor who has 5. and so on and so....

Agreed, this rank system has to go, thanks for breaking it all down

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I dunno how I feel about this. It's so easy to rank up. Most of my games as a survivor I die or barely do anything and I still pip or at least safety pip.

I don't think I'm a good player. I get wrecked in red ranks easily, yet still end up back in there consistently despite 80% of the games I play I end up dying.

Which is another reason this rank system needs to be abolished

  • @thrawn3054 said:

Maybe implement a cut off every 5 levels. You only go back further during rank reset if you at one of those 5 level intervals.

    That's a great idea

    @BACKSTABBER said:

end of seasons derank is a dirty practice to keep you grinding to reach again a higher rank instead of quitting the game

intentional derank is a dirty practice we are forced since the matchmaking systems take a century to start a match at higher ranks

    amen

    Frankly they're both not wanted

  • @thrawn3054 said:

Are you meaning intentionally deranking or during rank reset?

Both, because both options pair inexperienced with MLG pros. I understand reset affects everyone, but it still does nothing because you can get rank 15's or 16's as a Rank 12 in your match. They need to get it together, it's a souring bitter taste in my mouth for this game.

  • @Someissues said:

being high on rank serves nothing, u get no rewards, u get literally nothing!!!!

and u get punished with high queue times, i derank myself back to 15 all the time

i will be willing to stay on high rank when devs introduce Ranking rewards

even mobile DBD identity v had ranking rewards since day 1... and u can change chase music etc... too

It's a big shame, they need to do something about all this. About the causes of Deranking, I can think of a million things they could do so why can't a whole team of people who've worked on this for 3 years? It's absurd.

There's no incentive, no recognition. This games ranking system is so backwards they need something better. Why not give recognition for the top percentage of the playerbase that achieves rank 1 in the main menu? Why not offer small cosmetics(cause you release them so frequently now, they may as well do some once a month)

Reset needs to change, rank system needs to change. They need to stop trying to make everyone "feel" like a winner by giving consolation points and double down on these issues.

  • Seriously, I'm not understanding why people aren't commenting on this. It's an issue that needs to be addressed

  • I was just speaking on this issue, they need to throw away this darn rank system and come up with something better. Not a rework, a whole new system. Too many times I get paired with people who don't know what they're doing and I have to suffer for it, especially during rank reset or people just Deranking.

  • @will_i_am_14_85 said:

But what if, during perhaps some kind of event or double BP event that there are a lot of farming games, or games where one side is letting the other people do the event objective, this would artificially boost there rank past what they should be at.

I remember during the hallowed blight event my killer rank shot up to the purple ranks when I had no business being out of the green ranks.

Rank system and MM needs a rework yes, but I don't think potentially punishing someone who is boosted is the way to go about it.

I'm sorry I'm not trying to hear it, if you got up the ranks that way so be it. But it's not punishing anyone it's making that people have a firm grasp of how to play and if you made it that far up you'll learn soon enough. This is a big issue. The issue if reset and being put with people less experienced is a big deal and to constantly lose cause of it due to the reset is an even bigger one because you can go all the way back to 15. You should not be able to derank past rank 10 if you make it past that.

  • @xllxENIGMAxllx said:

The current pip system for killers require you to play with survivors while keeping pressure (gatekeeper and chaser mostly) while not allowing survivors to heal.

I agree, I've noticed that as well

  • @Dreamnomad said:

I pretty much hate the ranking system in this game. I thought the victory cube system was perfect for killers. 2 kills or proportionate number of hooks equal to 2 kills was a black pip. Anything worse than that lost a pip. 2 kills plus 1 hook was a pip. 4 kills was 2 pips. Pipping was based off of what a killer should be doing. Killing.

The current system is just crazy. The number of times that I've got 3 kills (and hooked the 4th at least once) without pipping is mind blowing. I don't know what more the game wants from me honestly. Even 4 kills doesn't guarantee a pip. I have a completely dominate performance and don't pip... Seriously, just bring back the victory cube.

I understand where you're coming from, but we have to adapt now. It's no longer just about kills but now it's about your performance overall involving all factor of the match, i.e. Gens, hooks, heals, sacrifices, beginning and ending a chase.

I'm not saying that this system is superior to any other, but I'm saying we have to try to adapt to still rank up.

  • @Chewy102 said:

Being a launch player and a stubborn jackass, Im still in the mindset that higher blood points should reflect doing well and thus be rewarded in rank.

Before the emblem system it felt horrible to earn over 20K BP as Killer and get a black pip. 20k was once 2 pip worthy and to only get a black pip felt like a gut shot. In the emblem system though, it just got so much worse. 25K BP games end in a black pip. Iv had up to 27K black pip games multiple times! That's a freaking kick in the nuts.

To work your ass off to earn BP by hunting people, landing hit after hit, downing/hooking them, making proper use of your power all throughout, and doing it ALL within only a few minutes before the game ends is a crap load of effort. Getting told "meh, you did average" with a black pip, or worse losing with even getting a depip at times, kills any motivations I had to play the game.

Today I had plenty of time to play DbD. Just ended up sitting here listening to Pandora instead before going to work.

I'm from launch as well. One thing that has helped me rank up consistently is looking at the requirements for each emblem. Gatekeeper involves guarding gens and regressing them for at least the first 9 mins of the match.

Malicious, requires hits, hooking, and preventing them from healing. If Survivors heal it is a small percentage penalty to your emblem.

I've learned all of this from reading the info after my matches. Although, I know for some killers it isn't fair because you could win and actually not "win".

  • Underated: Plague, she's so versatile and I love it. She has the makings to be one of the best killers in this game. However, right now there are a few minor setbacks which prevent her from reaching her full potential.

Overated: Legion. I used to main him myself. But now it's seems hes what everyone is talking about. Idk, I kinda got pushed away from him.

  • Plague is my favorite Killer. I love playing as her.

  • I used to be a legion main, I am no longer. He feels really sluggish, the fluidity in his vaults and the like are gone. That was his biggest appeal to me, the speed mainly and how visceral it was to chase after a survivor. Now...I'm just not satisfied with him, I've moved on.

  • If maps get reworked then hopefully they're doing something about loops

1 … 11 12 13 14 15 … 17
