For survivor, I play Meg all the time. She’s awesome and deserves the amount of mains she has.
For killer, Spirit is my most played and the one I mostly enjoy. I love her lore, aesthetics and pretty much everything about her. I really wish she was more fair because I’m just super passionate for her.

I find Meg pretty boring also her model needs update same with Jake his model looks so bad
I think Meg is awesome looking and her lore is so splendid.

Put Meg in S tier and it’s good

Well considering pop has already gotten nerfed before, why does it need another one?

Yeah I feel you there. Scott Jund just proposed this idea to buff solo queue and it’s very good. Entity knows we need it because of how painful solo queue is.

I do enjoy both sides. I like killer slightly more tho.

Idk how anyone can not say Spirit. What she did to those three guys in her lore cutscene should be enough to make a decision.

Cause his quite extreme camp potential is often put to use, at least according to what i read from others' experiences.
That is true. I think other than that, having to always be worried about him stealthing feels fun and rewarding. He may not be the best killer but I certainly love his gameplay.

Whenever I play against her, it seems like she always get ridiculous hits with her hatchets. I'll run behind a wall & before I know it, I somehow have a hatchet in my back.
Because of this, I find Deathslinger a lot more bearable than her.
I honestly can’t blame you there. Once they fix that and Iri Head, maybe add some buffs to compensate, she’d be perfect imo.
Don’t hate Spirit 😢

Try playing solo queue. I wouldn’t say it’s super difficult but it’s incredibly frustrating. Survivor most certainly has a skill cap and it’s ridiculous if anyone thinks otherwise.

Every killer has a learning curve(bar Freddy) but spirits is the lowest as the only skill you have to learn is tracking. Other killers like blight billy huntress all require more mechanical skill along with strategic skill.
Imo her skill ceiling is the second lowest and there is too much reward for that low ceiling
There is also husk positioning, sharp reactions, and managing power gauge. It’s certainly not the hardest in the world but I disagree with the fact that tracking is the only thing Spirits can learn.
To be fair though, I will say that she is a top tier killer and should be harder but the Freddy-Spirit ratio of how much skill they require is the same as the Spirit-Nurse ratio imo, if that makes sense.
-
I’d kill both
-
She really isn’t easy if you’re playing against good survivors. It’s easy to catch predictable survivors the beeline holding W but people that try to be unpredictable and don’t DC/suicide the moment they see it’s Spirit are what really separates mediocre Spirits and great Spirits.
Survivors will get angry at me for saying this, but her skill ceiling is significantly underrated. Nurse definitely makes Spirit look easy but people need to quit acting like Spirit doesn’t have a learning curve.

I mean, you pretty much just broke it all down there. He’s not very fun to play as well to me. I hope his upcoming rework makes him more skill based without gutting him. I haven’t played DBD long enough to know how it feels to play as and against old Freddy, but he seemed pretty interesting. Maybe bring that back while giving some tweaks to keep him a fairly strong killer.

Except there are many killers that can deal with these things without robbing survivors of their agency. Pyramid head. Blight. Clown. Freddy. Deathslinger. New Bubba. Even Twins via Victor. And of course, Nurse. All have tells, and yet these killers can easily hold the power role in chases, some more than others. They also have tells and counters. Many of these killers can obliterate the average DBD group in public matches when used by someone with decent game sense.
There is no genuine counter to Spirit during these stand still mindgames, which are the main issue people have. Whereas other killers with strong anti-loop have tells, she does not. May as well just stand still and let her down you at that point.
I think OP is quite reasonable with what they say about Spirit and how some people are ridiculous in the outcry for a hard nerf. You, on the other hand, are unreasonable. There's always one like you to make these threads come off way worse than they are.
"How about, for ONCE, you survivors have to deal with the short end of the stick and get into the position of the person reacting rather than the one dictating the chase?"
Ah there it is. Not only is this polarizing with the 'you survivors' when you clearly have no idea where I stand in terms of my favoured form of gameplay, but you make it a us vs them thing, despite the fact that many killer mains find Spirit to be a shitshow. Big examples being ZubatLEL and ScottJund. That's not to say their word is gospel, but high experience killer players say these things for a reason.
The fact that you think you consistently have the short stick in chases with killers outside of Spirit (and I guess Nurse and Freddy) says more about your ineptitude in the killer role. I and many others can 4k consistently in red ranks with killers like Demogorgon that don't even have efficient anti-loop. Am I just God tier? Or are you just exaggerating and making playing killer sound like a tragic case of inevitable victimhood? The only thing that screws killers are maps and map RNG, which also applies to survivors mind you (I'd say killers have a harder time OVERALL, but it's still a general problem).
She has no counter in loops with the specific mindgame people find super irritating. That's why people want at least a small tell like EVERY OTHER STRONG KILLER HAS IN THEIR ARSENAL.
Enjoy your circlejerk with other like-minded people that see survivors as mindless drones that only want to pallet loop all day.
Spirit doesn't need to be gutted. Her power needs some tweaks. Her addons need revisions. I hate facing her, but she's not BROKEN.
Pretty much this. As much as I love Spirit, she really needs tweaks to be more fair to go against. My fun is just as important as the fun of survivors (the ones that aren’t toxic). The breathing bug along with a few minor buffs would be good. Honestly if it did knock Spirit down to B tier, as long as I can still do well with her and she’s still fun to play, I would be completely fine with it if it means the survivors will have a fun and interactive battle as well.
I understand you trying to put people in their place, but no matter how hard you or I try to have a reasonable debate with them, they’ll still try to let their ego get in the way of what is actually logical. No need to waste your time with them tbh. As I said in the post, there are Spirit players that are toxic and entitled and want everything to go their way. It’s kind of a shame because it really ruins the reputation of my killer.
Also yeah, her add ons are busted and need nerfs, like the MDR.
-
I play Spirit a lot but never use Father’s Glasses so I had no idea it was bugged.
-
I have to agree. Clown is very underrated because of his ability to anti-loop. The faster reload speed definitely helped his case even more.
-
@hooey said:
IMO she's pretty unfun to play against even though I know spirit mains love to play her. I don't think you could fix the unfun part of her without a complete rework of her power, but that doesn't mean you can't change some of her abilities. I would love to see many of her add-ons nerfed. Specifically the duration ones and maybe the speed ones. The duration ones give her an EXTREMELY long power along with a super-fast recharge (which is a bug). The speed addons aren't as much of a problem, but the green one is a little ridiculous when paired with a duration addon. Also, the mother-daughter ring+yakuyoke needs to be nerfed hard just like the iridescent head needs to be nerfed. One last thing I would like to see changed is to give survivors an actual indication of when she's using her power. I think we all agree that the standstill mind game is the stupidest thing ever.
Yeah some of her add ons are so dumb. Ring+Amulet is broken. I think Amulet is fine by itself, I just think the Ring needs the nerf.
Stand still “mind game” is the only thing I don’t have fun with her. If they weakened that, it wouldn’t affect me that much.

I do understand your concern but I wouldn’t worry. The only killer who got an unnecessary nerf is probably billy so I don’t believe the same would happen to spirit.
I don’t want spirit gutted either I jus want a fun killer to fight against. I’ll never sigh when I figure out I’m fighting a billy oni blight doctor trapper or Myers because all of them are really fun to fight against.
I understand your attachment to spirit I feel the same about clown if they removed him I would be heartbroken too but you have to understand that spirit needs to be changed in order for it to be fair for both sides
But even if spirit got gutted if you still enjoyed her there shouldn’t be a problem should there?
I have been saying Spirit does need a change. I do feel like she’s getting touched some time this year. Hopefully she does and the devs can actually be competent for once.
If she got knocked down to B tier, she’ll still be my killer. Whether or not a killer is strong isn’t what concerns me. What I don’t want to happen is for her to feel awful to play. I still want to do well with her. I’m asking for buffs to compensate not to keep her S tier, but to keep her as the same killer I laid my eyes on the first time I played her. It’s hard to explain but I’ll just sum it up by saying as long as she’s still fun to play and I can still do well with her, I’ll be fine with it. Just please don’t gut her devs.

Along as the fatigue was like 2 seconds those sound great to me👍 She would be a solid A tier killer I’d say
Look at the chase based killers for a second
Nurse: fatigue and cooldown
Billy: overheat and cooldown on missed chainsaw
huntress: reload and cooldown on hatchet throws
slinger: Cooldown and reload
oni: has to charge power and hefty cooldown for missed swing
And then there’s spirit with no kind of fatigue on a missed phase and a non existent cooldown so long as you use her power in short bursts like you should. I hope that clears it up a bit
I mean I guess that’s fair, but a fatigue is such a big change that you’d need to give her buffs to compensate. The difference between Spirit and those other killers is that they can actually see where the survivors are. Spirit can’t. Yes she can hear their grunts of pain (only when injured) but what if they have Iron Will? Catching survivors with Iron Will unless they’re the most predictable thing ever would be impossible to catch if they can hear Spirit and if she has a fatigue. You might say to just equip Stridor but just like how it isn’t fair for a survivor to equip a specific perk to counter a 1 out of 22 killer isn’t fair, it’s also not fair for a killer to equip a perk just to counter a survivor perk that the survivors might not even have. Iron Will is going to need a rework to compensate Spirit having a fatigue and directional breathing noises. Also Spirit will probably need to have her post-phase lunge buffed a little.
Please understand that this isn’t me trying to argue that Spirit is a fair and balanced killer. This is me feeling concerned for her because I really want her to be balanced, but I also don’t want her gutted. I do feel like she is going to be touched some time this year and I’m just worried the devs are going to do something to Spirit that makes her disorienting to play and no longer fun. Let’s be honest, the devs have gotten that reputation from this last update. I really really love Spirit, she’s not only my favorite DBD character but is probably my favorite character in any game. If she got gutted to the point where she isn’t fun to play anymore, I would honestly be heartbroken and I really don’t want to main another killer.

What change could cripple spirit in her current form? I honestly can’t think of one. Like nurse got a cooldown but is still top tier. We have to keep in mind spirit has already been nerfed and she went from S tier to S tier
She won’t get crippled but I hope she gets balanced
Like I said in the post that someone proposed that breathing bug along with fatigue coming out of phase. Those two are pretty big changes that could make her disorienting to play along with possibly being a B or C tier killer that is just as hard as Nurse.

Oh yeah I see where you're coming from too. I would also be fine with her just giving more feedback to survivors in the chase in exchange for other buffs so she's more counterable and fun to play against without making her any weaker. That'd still be a clear step forward.
At least you understand. Thanks man.

You said she needs a compensation buff for a nerf which for a killer of her power is totally unnecessary. She simple needs to be toned down as she is too strong and that’s all I wanted for her.
Just because she’s top tier doesn’t mean she’ll be able to stand any nerfs. One careless change could cripple her power.

survivors want to control the chase plain and simple. They want Spirit to be a party clown like all the other m1 killers, basically a looney toons cartoon where the big dumb killer chases after you and you just slam pallet after pallet on his head and sprint away tbagging. They like the feeling of knowing as long as they're on the other side of the loop you can't hit them and you need them to make a mistake before you're allowed a hit. Even then they have DH for a third chance lol
Yep exactly. The killer needs to have control of the chase. Not saying survivors should feel helpless but they shouldn’t be able to fight back for so long.

Some do, for sure, but I'm agreeing with your point that her strength isn't the biggest issue.
With that said, I do think she could stand a nerf strictly because she's a top tier killer. In an ideal world, Behaviour would continue to nerf killers that are abnormally strong and buff killers that are abnormally weak until they're all closer to mid tier. Then they can buff or nerf the killer side as a whole based on current performance. Game balance is much easier to achieve when the gap between the strongest and weakest killers is at its smallest, so until that gap shrinks quite a lot I'd support balance changes aimed at closing that gap.
It's a very similar argument to why I feel Behavior needs to buff solo queue. Much like the gap in strength between the strongest and weakest killers, the information gap between SWF and solo makes it tricky to balance the game. SWF is going nowhere, nor should it if we care about the game's success, and penalizing even the most casual players for playing with their friends is a non-starter. So, that leaves us with giving more information to solo queue to reduce the information gap with SWF. That's why I really like the hook state counter on the new HUD; solos can't just ask their buddy if they're on death hook and it's pretty tricky as a solo player to keep track of hook states for all teammates. The new HUD therefore helps solos out a lot without giving much of a boost to SWF. Those sorts of changes are ones I hope we see more of going forward. I'm thinking about things like a totem counter on the HUD, more perk buff and debuff icons on the HUD (e.g. a Deliverance buff icon for all survivors if they have a teammate on the hook with Deliverance active), more buffs to information perks and/or nerfs to non-information perks, more in-game gestures beyond just beckon and point to facilitate communication, etc.
I mean I guess that’s fair. I’m just saying that giving Spirit a nerf isn’t exactly easy because if BHVR isn’t careful about it (which we all know their reputation for messing thing up at this point) then it could hurt Spirit’s power. I don’t want that because I love her to death.
Also yeah I agree solo queue definitely needs buffs. I play solo queue normally and that experience can be rough.

@Phasmamain said:
i’m a bit late to this and have already made my opinion clear but I will say it again.
Spirit is simply not healthy for the game in her current state. As @grunt7554 has said she has no feedback on whether she is using her power or not. This is a huge problem as all of the other 21 killers give feedback.
“But her shards glow” It is true on her default skin but if they are running the Greek or schoolgirl set good luck knowing.
Your only way to know if she’s phasing is spine chill or her footsteps which are very difficult to hear and barely help you when she’s moving 170ish % speed.
So knowing all this what is the counter to her? I’m still trying to find ways to counter a decent spirit but there really isn’t any.
@TheGannMan i know you love spirit and that’s fine but don’t try to defend a very unfun frankly broken killer
All this without mentioning stridor either but I have a whole thread about that
Since when am I trying to “defend” her? You’re not reading my post clear enough because I did say she needs a balance change because I’m not like the majority of the Spirit main community that doesn’t have empathy for the survivor side.
-

They want a minimum of counterplay in the chase instead of basically having to guess at best. That is not too much to ask for. As with Deathslinger, her strength isn't really the issue, although unlike him she is strong enough to stand a nerf. The real issue is the lack of feedback she gives to survivors.
Hillbilly is also far from dead and buried - no need to be dramatic. He's still comfortably above average and his base kit is very similar to what it was before. Overheating is usually only a concern if you're running engravings.
A lot of survivors admit that they want Spirit nerfed to the ground. That’s what we’re trying to say. I’m fine with her giving counterplay but why does she need major nerfs?
-
Just got back online after waking up two hours ago and got like 42 notifications for this post. I don’t feel like replying to everyone because it will take way too long. It amazes me how stubborn and selfish people can get. I’m even over here agreeing that she needs a balance change. I’m all for survivors having just as much fun as I do. If the devs can give her a change that makes her fair and fun to go against without killing her and keeping her just as fun as she is now, then I would love that.
To the people that say Spirit shouldn’t get any buffs to compensate: you are basically admitting what I said. You don’t care about the killer side and only care about the fun of the survivor side. Some even admitted that Spirit should be nerfed to the ground because she’s “unfair.” Again, I agree but how about we fix her without killing her. That’s not fair for me or any other Spirit player that isn’t toxic and just want to have fun.
Stop acting like just bringing back the breathing bug is gonna be enough to fix Spirit without gutting her. Survivors were even saying during that time period that running the Spirit around was easy. There needs to be buffs to balance it out, like faster movement speed or longer post-phase lunge. This is exactly what I mean about if you don’t play Spirit just don’t try to come up with ideas. Play her for yourself to get a better understanding of what would be best for her. Stop acting like she has no downsides whatsoever.
I’ve come to realization that maybe y’all don’t deserve a Spirit balance change. If y’all are really this selfish to think Spirit should get nerfed to the ground with nothing in return then Spirit should honestly stay the way she is. I’m tired of getting attacked for playing my favorite character in the game. I’ve been begging for a Spirit balance change for a long time now but all I need to do is play Spirit to get attacked.

Actually, survivors hearing the breathing sounds wouldn't be too bad. Spirit would then have counterplay, yet still be a good killer.
Yes I do want the survivors to hear where Spirit is it’s just the fatigue coming out of phase was a stupid idea.
@danielmaster87 said:
Spirit is the epitome of a balanced killer, just like Hillbilly was before his nerf. While she is in the top 2 killers (Nurse and Spirit), she's not better than Nurse.
And let me put it this way for the Nurse vs Spirit argument:
Nurse is better than Spirit assuming that a competent Nurse player has her. Her simple yet insanely strong ability to teleport, even through walls, makes her the best killer in the game. It's just that she's so hard to learn. That's why people say "I beat Nurse all the time!" Yeah, baby Nurses and intermediate Nurses, not veteran/PC Nurses otherwise you'd complain about her all the time. Spin and double back all you want, because a good Nurse doesn't care about any of that and will hit you anyway.
Spirit has a more complex power but it is mostly about moving fast and hearing where survivors are. If they have Iron Will, you're screwed. If they know how to play around with the sounds, you're screwed. She's not as skilless and uncounterable as people make her sound. The standing still mindgame needs to be fixed, because it is actually no-skill just like the old window vault faking.
So Nurse is the stronger killer, but Spirit is more accessible aka easier to pick up. A good Spirit player is better than a bad Nurse, but a good Nurse is better than any Spirit player.
But bottom line: Spirit is one of those few killers that actually has control in the chase, which survivors don't like. Nurse has control as well, but Spirit can somewhat be looped whereas Nurse cannot be looped at all. Spirit is balanced.
Spirit is definitely more skillful than people claim. Standing still getting free hits obviously is brain dead, but everything else about Spirit does have a learning curve. I would have to disagree about Spirit being balanced. I think if she gave survivors a vague tell on what she’s doing then she’ll be balanced.

We need like killers like Nurse and Spirit. Killers need to be able to have control of the chase. Survivors are already in control against 90% of the killer roster which isn't fair because it's a 4v1.

I think you misunderstand the sentiment. Spirit's current position is what's being called for having a nerf, not for Spirit in general being weaker with whatever change.
People are tired of Spirit because she has no counterplay. You cannot counter what you can't see. She knows where you are in phase and is the only killer who can hit you while invisible, and you don't know where she is whatsoever. Any sort of "counterplay" on the survivor's end is a result of luck and guesswork. The one survivor perk, Iron Will, that can mitigate her power is negated by Stridor.
With Nurse, both sides have to guess in many cases. Nurse does not have an ability to know relatively precisely where survivors are when LOS is broken, and even though she is ridiculously strong in the right hands, there is still a balance in terms of counterplay on both sides in that regard when a survivor breaks LOS.
You can't do anything against spirit, and that's Spirit's main strength as of now: that she has no counterplay in chase. Survivors can't do anything. On top of that, to be successful with her does not require a lot of effort either. At least for me when I first tried Spirit in red ranks, and I am awful with her but still got 4ks the majority of my matches with her. People also do not like Deathslinger for similar reasons.
You clearly didn’t read my post. I said that I agree Spirit needs to have some sort of indication on what she’s doing. I just hate it when people ask for her to get nerfed to the ground not acknowledging there’s another side.
@RaSavage42 said:
I think the only thing I'd change on her is the Breathing bug... But make an addon the Prayer Beads effect be that you can't hear her while she's phasing.... IDK if that would enough though
Yea survivors want to be able to know everything the killer does or doesn't do... just look at the perks that show killer's aura
They also want the killers to be predictable Spirit isn't so...
Also I noticed that the really Entitled Survivors want all killers to be like Legion or Pig (cause no one complains about those two... unless you play those two or go against one that "breaks the rules")
Stridor was used cause of all the audio bugs the game has. Now it's complained about cause "WAAAA Killer heard me when I was crouching next to them and I died"
Also I noticed how some survivor players act like it's COD and need their Escapes/ Death ratio to be as high as it can go... to prove their "good at the game"
Prayer Beads would honestly need a ground up rework imo if that bug was brought back in.
