Clairvoyance and Sprint Burst are actually much better for this and you can still run better perk choices in the last two slots. Maybe Iron Will and or DS.
The problem with all of it though is Hatch is considered a Draw in terms of MMR. The best way to 'farm' MMR gain on both sides is uh:
Survivor: play in a coordinated SWF with strong perk and add-on loadouts /everyone gen rush and get out asap
Killer: play very well with a slowdown build and proxy camp for hook states/guaranteeing deaths on hook and use the best add-ons possible. OR face camp with a late game NOED build which can very well net 2+ kills and almost always get you MMR and ruin multiple people's game experiences which apparently this game is all about on both sides.
that was a joke the "build" i made ;)

Just FYI, getting hatch does not count as a "win" and won't increase your MMR.

- I think the idea of having MMR in the game is fine. The implementation on the killer end is ok. The survivor end needs a bit more nuance in my opinion. I'm not convinced there's a strong correlation between individual skill and escape rates when matchmaking is inconsistent in terms of MMR level between teammates. It doesn't matter if a 3000 hr survivor can run a killer until the end of time if their teammates have 200 hrs and completely throw the game by going down instantly. They'll get 4k'd through no fault of the 3000 hr player. It doesn't matter how well the best players on the team play if it's putting bad survivors with good survivors+an average killer. The bad survivors will get the team 4k'd more often than not.
- I'd enjoy it more if it worked all the time. It was genuinely great the first month or so after it launched on both sides. I was escaping most of my games, getting teammates I knew from the comp scene, and it felt like I was being matched correctly. Then they changed something and now SBMM basically turns itself off at peak hours and makes solo queue unplayable if you're actually good and try to play optimally. Crossplay off PC is a little better, but every other game is a hacking Spirit pre-swinging out of phase on healthy survivors with MDR/Amulet. The vast majority of my survivor games with crossplay on involve a completely average killer, one decent teammate, and two godawful teammates with 1/10th of my playtime who proceed to throw the game. Never once during these games have I thought "Wow, sure am glad I'm not still waiting in queue for the correct teammates!"
Yea 1 bad teammate can throw the whole match and thats enough to make you lose MMR and the match. Thats what i dont get with the system if you loop 5 minutes and no teammates did gens and you die 5 minutes in chase should be considered as pretty skilled in my opinion. But since your teammates thought it was interesting to watch you loop the whole match you get nothing for it.
i liked the +8 -8 system more (ranked 4 can play with 1 - 12 etc.) i mean sure its still a pretty big gap but i had more consitent games with that system than with MMR. But ofc as you said there are some games where its pretty even the skill between the survivors and the killer its a tough match for both
The sad part is that they refuse to improve the MMR. Its not about escaping thats what i dont get they keep it way to simple... If i loop 5 gens gets noed and face camped at the end and my teammates did the gens, im the actual skilled one... I think the should almost forget about kills and escapes and focus more on hooks, chase time, gen time etc.
"The vast majority of my survivor games with crossplay on involve a completely average killer, one decent teammate, and two godawful teammates with 1/10th of my playtime who proceed to throw the game. Never once during these games have I thought"
Yea would rather have longer queues and fun games that are balanced than a fast game with basically the 3 first survivors they could find and a killer.
-
noed but none are strong not even noed... noed is just boring it lets you get 1 or 2 downs for free and there isnt really much you can do since it often takes a min to find the totem

it isnt really fun to play killer no... when you do play a fun build you get trash talked and hated on... the devs doestn really care that much about us killers either, if the killer count is dropping maybe they should do something because how fun will it be to play as survivor when queue times get to 50 minutes and there are 80k survivors but only 200 killers?
And the title is to clickbait a little too while still "fitting" the posts content

There are two ways to play Killer....
There is Play to have fun, where you okay to just have fun and be silly. Unfortunately you probably won't win many games this way but it's the most relaxing experience as Killer.
Then there's Play to Win which isn't fun and a total stressful sweatfest that makes people not want to play Killer.
ooh i play bubba face camp too when im really bored those are also 4k most of the time... well somehow and yes i do partially agree but its also fun to win :)
and the problem is when i do play fun builds and get like 1 - 2 kills the survivors just say "EZ NOOB UNINSTALL TRASH LLLLLL"
and stuff like that so i dont find it fun to get trash talked at the end with 1000000000000 flashlight clicks & tbags +toxic endgame chats which doesnt really bother me besides it being pretty sad to see how mean people really are :/
i mean how can they even think im playing serious when i play deathslinger insidious, bloodwarden, noed, and agitation or other fun builds like rancor and nemesis(the perk)...

Morning and afternoon it takes me 30 seconds to find a survivor match. Evening, maybe 1-2 minutes. Late night? Usually about 5 minutes or more so I only play 1 or 2 matches at that time, if at all
hhm how long does it take to find a game as killer?
when i play a killer match is 20 sec and a survivor match is around 1 - 5 minutes (5 minutes is rare but so is 20seconds)

@Tiufal said:
It could be fixed when people understand that playing killer isnt as complicated as people like you make it look like. to be hoonest killer is much more relaxing as casual player than playing as not-4man-swf. those who always talk about how miserable their matches are, are truly not the average of this game. most players i know that play killer at a casual level have no issues with the power balance. sometimes you get players that are better, most of the time theyre just average. and the average in this game is quite bad if you ask me. i am much better at survivor but due to MMR i landed in low-mmr hell. downward spiral due to 90% bad players as mates. no way to get better mmr without sweating my ass of for a whole season i guess. but that skill level is what you get as killer too. most players are just not good.
as killer i still have a decent mmr as trapper main and the survs i get are more competent than my own mates, but i still have an average around 2-3kills. and i dont play sweaty, in case i play overly fair. and this works. its really rare to get teams that are far better than me, and then i dont even cry about matchmaking like most people here on the forums, but instead i try to learn from my mistakes. and i am not entitled to win. neither as killer nor as survivor. thats all it needs to play killer casualy and have a good time.
1st. 2 - 3 kills i would say 90% of my games are 4kills easily i dont really think killer is that bad but then im playing 4000 dpi blight with a 1 meter long mouse pad... what im saying is some killers are just horrible to play i mean i love clown but when i play him i need to SWEAT and i really mean sweat to get something out of him his power is pretty weak and thats just how it is. As a survivor if you just run the killer for 30 sec thats 30 * 8 which is 240 seconds and a gen is 80
so theoretically you could do 3 gens within the first 90 100 seconds. and keep in mind that the killer has to hook and find survivors (yes survivors have to find gens too) but you only need to run the killer for 30 seconds 40 seconds as a survivor and you have done a fairly decent job... thats plenty of time
2nd. as a killer on the other hand one mistake can cost you the match (sure it can happen on survivor as well) i mean lets say you miss one swing and well now he got to the jungle gym can loop you 3 times and drop the pallet then go to the next gen... if you mess up as a survivor the worst thing that can happen is that you go down and you still have a few lives left.
conclusion...
I think its easier to perform well as a survivor than as a killer(THIS IS MY OPINION!!!!), 2nd I dont really think the main reason killer is boring to play for some people are survivors, i think its the amount of bullshit they have to take like half the killers being unplayable and just not fun to play the other half of the killers are really weak and hard to get anything out of their power :)

The "fix" would be horrible horrible nerfs to survivors, can you take it?
I'm pretty sure SoloQ players will literally die by it.
yes, and thats something survivors cant handle they will complain until it gets fixed... Survivors are treated as gold while us killers are just simple rocks. they dont care how we feel or if the game is horrible to play as a killer but when survivors start struggling and doesnt feel fun to play they do something about it... Yes i play soloQ and while soloQ is usually pretty horrible that problem isnt with the game its simply the survivor that isnt the brightest player...

@JimbusCrimbus said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/310410/queue-times-fix-when
When they start making killer fun to play.
Killer right now is straight up unrewarding. There's only so many times someone can put up with outplaying a survivor just so they can bail themselves out, for free, with a perk. All that as killers watch survivors complain about things like Pain Resonance/Dead Man's Switch saying they should get nerfed (and likely will, because killer things are nerfed in RAPID succession compared to busted survivor things), despite it having the fairly steep earning requirement of actually having to be competent at getting downs to get any value.
Killer is unrewarding, and killers are treated as second class. Survivors bust out the old quadruple condom build full of second chances so they don't bust too soon, and it's all good because "they're just trying to survive", but if a killer brings a loadout of gen delay, they're trash talked, told they're trash, and told to off themselves.
When that ######### stops, you'll have tolerable queue times.
i agree 101% the fun killers are as i said unplayable we don't get anything new or exiting weak killers remain weak and unplayable...
What you said is perfect us killers are treated as a 2nd class almost like we doesn't matter, survivors complain about a perk and it gets reworked or fixed quickly killers who complain about the nurse blink bunk etc. took them YEARS to fix that. Both sides say that haddonfield is a fairly unbalanced map meh they dont care... When the game (gideon meat plant) was killer sided it got reworked

100÷5=20 then multiply that number with 4 because you need 4 survivors to even play so it is 80% which means that it is pretty ######### balanced.
but thats the problem if killers are leaving there will be way to many survivors if survivors leave i mean sure queues will be longer but the game wont die out...
lets say the player pool is 1000
so 200 killers
800 survivors now if
80 survivors left it wouldnt matter
if 80 killers left well... thats almost half of them
So you basically proved my point :P

@Icaurs said:
the game is dying: Yes and no. DBD constantly has periods of large amount of new players, where a fraction continue playing until the numbers decline until the next DLC. This is not the first time DBD has had as massive player drop, there just has not been anything interesting added to DBD in a while, the last one being nemesis. When the next killer/survivor comes out expect wait times to decrease.
The survivor queues are getting longer and longer: Objectively wrong it depends on the time of day, your region. Under certain situations killer wait times can be far longer then survivors. It also depends on your MMR. High MMR for both sides results in longer wait times.
so im pretty damn sure that a majority of the people who leave are killers. Wrong most players remaining as SWF, mainly because SWF is the only way to play DBD. Solo survivor is a far worse experience then killer.
i mean sure my games are almost always 4k but thats when i tryhard blight or play like nurse spirit. This is the problem, you acknowledge the power imbalance that killers have, yet most killers object to nurse/ spirit being nerfed despite the fact they are very broken. The problem is not any specific side, rather that players are bringing in killer addons/ perks ect and survivors are bringing their perks and items that are simply to strong, too often. killers are equally the cause of DBD's decline as survivors.
The fun killers are the ones getting nerfed while they are already pretty weak. Not true most nerfs are made to killer addons (pig) however the few that have been nerfed were because most killers should be getting 2 kills again, which actually is happening regularly.
The dead hard hit validation is horrible and the hitboxes are all over the place. This is a real issue both sides suffer from and while DH currently looks awful and needs to be fixed, it is working as intended so I think they have bigger issues.
The map RNGs can be the difference between a win and a loss i mean 3 jungle gyms in a row how are ou even suppose to play against that?... I agree a lot of maps should have at least a set amount, unfortunately when they did do this, killers complained because smaller maps resulted in more pallets, not less. In fact the majority of map changes were introduced due to killers complaining and they have not stopped since 2016.
killers and survivors complain about haddonfield well maybe rework that map? Should have been reworked a long time ago.
I think the game is focusing more on the survivors than killers. 100% wrong, almost all reworks have been killer sided regarding maps, how many maps have added extra loops?
maybe try buffing the weak killers and make killer fun again. All this results in are killers are overkitted (not overpowered). Their basekit does simply too much with little to no input, boosting low skilled players through the ranks until they reach high MMR where none of it even matters because the objective of survivors is simply too short for a killer who players the game normally, but honestly too long if a killer chooses to camp.
devs said 80% of the player base is survivors... i wonder why .-.
the thing about the loss in players.. yes content plays a part, but the veteran players that are leaving / taking a break is doing it because the game is not balanced nor good (with good i mean its full of bugs and annoying stuff like that) i've had the game since 2017 and the few times i've taken a break its because of the tremendous amount of bugs its the bugs that simply makes the game unplayable AND lets not forget the toxic community.. when you play nurse and win you get "bruh boring tryhard" when you play like clown and twins with some fun perks and get 1 kill you get "AHAHAHAHAH NOOB UNINSTALL THE GAME EZZZZZZZ" "lol ur so bad" "ez" the same when some killers get 4k and you do like troll stuff they say ######### like "uninstall ez" its both sides and its annoying as hell.
The thing about haddonfield as you said i mean one side is always gonna complain about something. But when both sides says its unfair well... maybe they should take a look at it:)
we also have the MMR its just a complete mess it doesnt work for any side or anyone... some games are against people who cant loop an dsome are against like JRM with flashligths and bnp

You asked how you made it so that the games didn't take forever. If the survivors won't give up the game, that is the only way to do it.
It might seem a bit unfair since they put themselves in a stupid position but if they can't even attempt to do the gens because you're just camping their objective, they're just going to hide. (Or in my case when I'm a survivor, I'll keep trying to get you to chase me and hope my team actually does something because I'm not going to hide for 40 minutes; I'll let you kill me before I do that because I'd rather go to a new game than sit there and twiddle my thumbs for 40 damn minutes...).
guess i'll just have to be the bigger man and accept the risk im taking then :) just seems unfortunate to risk an almost guaranteed win but hey i dont wanna play 40 50 min matches so :P
it was rottenfields to so it was pretty hard to even find a survivor thats also another reason why i didnt really run crossmap and look for survivors
-
@Hex_Llama said:
When you have a three-gen like that, one side basically has to be willing to lose, or else you're all stuck there forever. Either they have to let themselves get hooked or you have to let them do the gens.
No one wants to have to choose between losing or staying in a stalemate forever -- it's a really un-fun scenario in the game.
yea i do fully understand that but its such a boring way to play when i play survivor and i get 3 genned i always attempt to get the gens done anyways :)
-
@tippy2k2 said:
To be kind of blunt, you have to actually chase survivors
I get you have a good defense setup but if you're just going to hug all three generators the entire time and make no move to actually leave them, there's not a whole lot the three survivors can do. I've had games like that as a survivor where the killer flat out REFUSED to leave the area at all, only venturing out far enough to try to swing at the survivor before retreating right back into their zone.
I wasn't a SWF but we ended up literally just having two people go in on two different gens while one person setup a damn nursing station (Thanks CoH! :D). Killer would hit one of us and we'd run back to our nursing station to be healed and just very very very very very very very very very very slowly chipping away at the gens until the killer was forced to actually try to chase someone as it was just a battle of attrition at that point.
i mean i got 1 dead and 2 were on death hook besides the obsession which would make me lose ALL STACKS since stbfl was tier 1... and why would i chase away from my 3 when i dont need to... i mean i did chase a steve and feng but its not like im gonna start looping killer shack crossmap i took the easy downs... and went back to my 3 gen
and as i said if i would have played a stronger killer like nurse which im also better at i would take the chase because then i know that im gonna be able to shut it down fast... and as i said a 3 gen is THEIR FAULT im not gonna play nice and let one of the biggest mistakes you can do slip xd... but i do get what you mean no i didnt camp the gens but i was only chasing if i could get a quick down without looping jungle gyms T and Ls etc.

It should be one or another, I guess DH for distance would be fine if it didn't also give the i-frames. Complaining about DH for distance would be the same as complaining about SB, BL or lithe.
i think dead harding for distance is completely fine thats what the perk should be used for to reach that pallet you wouldnt reach or to reach the window, not to tank a hit AND reach your place. And my problem with hit validation is that you get a cooldown so its even more distance.
-
@GannTM said:
That doesn’t fix Dead Harding for distance which is the main complaint of the perk.
i dont have any problem with dead harding for distance its when it consumes a hit and puts you on the cooldown thats my problem... i feel like dead harding for distance to reach that last window is the real reason for the perk, not to tank a hit for free

In all my days of playing Dead by Daylight, I'm proud to say I have never messaged another player anything toxic or antagonizing despite how tilted I was playing Killer or Survivor. I get titled a lot with how some people play this game, but lately I find myself being okay with a Killer tunneling me. Mostly it's because of how bad the state of playing Killer is right now. Overall, I've come to the conclusion that regardless of the current state of Killers, it is their job to kill you in any way whether it be a boring, unfair, or "distasteful" strategy. Yes, it sucks to be tunneled out of the game, but you'll have plenty of more games to look forward to.
So, the question is posed. Do you still find yourself getting mad that you get tunneled? Be honest. I look forward to intriguing discussions ^-^
Edit: Typo.
yes and no... When i get farmed and then tunneled i get pretty pissed off mainly at my teammates but i do understand why someone would want to tunnel... But when they run cross map just searching for you and tunneling like that ignoring people not even hitting people body blocking i find it pretty boring, but never really mad unless they talk ######### at the end

MMR is so backwards. Do gens, cleanse totems, run the killer around, make saves, then die on your first hook because your teammates are chickens and won't save you. Or they just tank the match early by sandbagging and suiciding. So, what happens? Your MMR goes down and you get put with worse teammates who are even more likely to get you killed. That makes perfect sense.
Who cares about the killer's MMR? It's stupid teammates who are the lethal ones.
true i mean sometimes i go against good killers with good teammates and we still win easily sometimes i go against so bad killers thats its a joke they get like 2 lucky downs and my teammates doesnt know what to do at all, like instead of resetting and going for the unhooks one guy runs for the unhook injured without borrowed time and farms or either goes down themselves

that would also work, I wouldnt insta dead hard though cuz I personaly expect that, everyone does that so after the first hit I just wait you then you wasted your dead hard xD
Also keep in mind that all this is absolutely wasted if you do it right when the hook is next to the picked up surivvors cuz he will still be able to hook, you need to do this move when the hook is rather far away so the wiggle bar is arleady half way through kinda.
u sabo the hook and insta dead hard so they wont down u know u telling me people just take a hit and dead hard?
i have sabod like 500 hooks... i know how to do it but that it seemed so weird that time and since its only happened once before i'm not sure what it is because if you take a hit they still gotthe cooldown so they cant hook so it must have been positioning then

It could be a variety of things:
- You didn't position yourself correctly.
- They hit you.
- Latency.
Honestly, blocking hooks is something that's rarely worth it. I'm always ready for it and unless it's a map with really crappy hook spawns like Pantry, Badham or RPD all you are doing is giving me a free health state.
might be position but i mean i have 1.3k hours so i would know if they hit me :D it was just that it looked scuffed and he had a ######### ping

the hitbox to block the hook is very thin now compared to back then. You have to stand perfectly at their position where the Killer has to stay to hook, if you are like 1 foot next to it then well rip.

If we hear a mumbling that we wont understand whats the point of that? Confirm they are SWF?
The solution is put comms for everyone and treat all players as comms team.
you can hear the sound if they talk then. directional mumbling sound so you cant hear the tactics but you can hear that they are talking just thought it would balance out it a little if they would add voice chat ingame but im 99.9999999% sure we wont get that for a long time
dont u think that is a reasonable balance for it if you talk the killer can hear you but not WHAT you are saying. now ther will always be people in discord ofc nothing you can do about that...

The solution is as easy as adding comms to everyone and buff killers according
So hard to make that seems.
make the killer being able to hear the comms but instead of hearing what we actually say they add some mumbling instead

Honestly man I'm disgusted, and absolutely sick and tired of swf. It's been a massive issue for years, and on here and reddit killers complain in massive quantities, as a matter of fact it's the biggest issue most killers have.
I hop on wanting to have a good time in the morning before I start my day. Just wanna play a few matches and grind some bloodpoints to lvl up my killers. I need alot of perks for them bc I just switched to PC.
I play legion, and immediately I get paired with a an swf group where all 4 of them are running BT, DH, DSTRIKE, and some form of speed perk, ontop of 3 of them running purple flashlights with insta blind add-ons and one had the healing boon.
All match, they clicked at me, teabagged every chance they got, grouped up on gens while I was chasing someone else. Abused deadhard to make it to windows and pallets for free when they should have been downed, then had the audacity to teabag and taunt after the free escape like the did something great. Abused borrowed time by standing still teabaghing knowing he was invincible and then I hit him, and the free speed rush got him to a pallet where he teabagged some more.
I got three hooks. Then they decided to take the end game hostage and all three clicked and tried to blind me until I forced them out the gate. The last one just used deadhard to the exit gate for a free escape. Weeeee... so hard. Playing survivor is a joke. The devs hold their hands man. Then they act cocky like they are actually playing well or like pros. Dude, you ALL have second chance perks. You all are coordinating. Lmao.
This is constantly happening. I can't play the game and just enjoy myself. It's nothing but bully fests. Match after match after match.
I have a match like this, and I already just wanna quit. It's awful. Why won't the devs address how strong this is? It's a joke. You can feel how disadvantaged you are going against this. 16 perks and add-ons and coordinating!? Seriously?
It would be different if this was a rare encounter but I'm legit finding myself doing these kind of matches almost every other match I play. It's constant.
Teams need caps! Or killers need boosts against teams! Period! Killers don't play this game just be jesters for bully teams that wanna be A-holes. We want to enjoy ourselves too, and if we can't.
We just leave! Then your ttv squads can just stream lobbies all day for their followers Instead.
Their behavior is appalling. I've never in my life played a game this toxic. I assumed the MMR would help but I haven't seen any difference really.
The first time I play a killer the first match is fine, then immediately I'm playing against nothing but squads. Swf is getting worse and more common these days.
hahahahahh trolling? so im not allowed to play with friends u do realise that when i soloQ my teammates doesnt do a single gen... some games i can do a 4 min loop without a single gen being done... its a joke

I think MMR should utilize looping and chase times as the biggest factor. Anyone can sit there and do gens.
what i mean is one guy loops how can i do 4 gens then? what are the other 2 doing?????? if i dont get the chance to loop the killer doesnt loop me there is no reason for me to loop him unless people are on 2nd hook

Last night MMR seemed to just be entirely busted. Had multiple games where 2-3 of the 5 players in the game were experienced with hundreds of hours, but without fail there was always at least 1 or 2 that were literally brand new. Like, no perks, no idea how the game worked, less than 5 hours in DBD new. And that happened like 5 or 6 games in a row.
yea idk if it is because its late and there isnt so many players playing but some games i get teammates with 70 hours that ar better than players with 1k.
when i play killer i can be matched up against 1k hour survivors (im little above average on killer) and i can clap them while some survivors got 200 hours and can loop me much longer

I do get a few of these matches - 1-2 excellent survivors way better than me and 2-3 potatoes without even a full line of perks.
It's probably people waiting in queues for ages and the system instead trying to futz together an 'average' team MMR close to mine.
That said, I had a genuinely heartwarming game where a clearly very experienced Nancy was using gestures to lead a trio of obvious newbies around.
I ended up giving 3 of them the gates on 2 hooks a piece.
yea sometimes i play against killer with 3 level 1 perks or kilers with only one perk while the survivors are running 4 tier 3s sometimes its reverse. one thign with giving hatch sometimes when i carry a game lets say its me and one survivor left i had this yesterday aswell i was on a gen the last guy was waiting and hiding so the hag would find me and kill me so he could look for the hatch instead of working on a gen... its so annoying when the killer gives those players the hatch at the end.
some games that looks very promising for us survivors can be thrown out the window by one mistake a survivor does like UNHOOKING INFRONT OF A HOOK CAMPER WITHOUT BT!!!!!!!!!!!... i dont get it it's not that hard to sit on a gen while someone is being hook camped i mean you should be able to do almost 4 and a half gen while ur friend is being camped

What would that do?
for us that do 4 gens a match AND LOOP...

I think the problem is the SBMM awards too many points for the escape on survivor side. So yeah, potatoes can escape b/c of hatch or just dumb luck after hiding all game and then they move up and screw the better players out of a what should be a good team. On the other side, if i'm on a solo Q team of crap players and die to a good killer, well it becomes a spiral.
And additionally the SBMM seems to match based on average scores sometimes. So you'll get one or two top players with 2-3 potatoes. And it's worse than the previous system b/c it is basically escape based match making not skill based.
yea i mean some games i can do 4 gens and die and then the dude who was hiding the whole match escapes... still ends up getting more blood points etc. than me
