Survivor- Kindred
Killer- Corrupt
I can't seem to let them go... With Kindred I can see if the killer (Or see my teammates go for the save or stay on their gen) is staying put (Or see Hag put traps down) or moving... Without Corrupt the first two-three gens get done before I see the first survivor
As a solo Kindred was one of my main perks for awhile. It is very handy and team friendly. Its the only survivor perk that I think should be base kit (if they dropped the killer aura reading). I eventually dropped it for Bond tho. I will still slap Kindred on during rank reset but once I am back to purple/red ranks I go back to Bond ^^
Corrupt is pretty much a must have on a lot of killers to be fair. Trapper is on of my fav and I feel so much pressure if I don't have that perk :<
Corrupt is another perk that is debatable to have as base kit, but I can see how it would be a little OP on certain killers (especially now that Lethal Pursuer is in the game).

I had (and still have) a very hard time ever playing without Lithe, I just love the perk and how it can be used to get out of bad situations via Pallet Tech
Lithe is my fav exhaustion perk (besides Head On). That perk has saved my sorry bum many times ^^

For me it was letting go of old ruin. It was better at actually slowing down the progress of gens before it's rework. Fortunately pgtw and corrupt intervention were there to fill the void.
While were talking about Whispers I can't let that perk go but I don't consider it to be unfair or crutch. It's not aura reading like many other tracking perks. Come to think of it I don't think I've seen a "Whispers is OP" thread and survivors complain about almost everything. The thing I value about it most is it tells me if an area is clear. So I know not to waste my time searching it.
Oh man... I miss old Ruin (both as a survivor and killer). For killers it REALLY helped in those first few minutes of the game and gave you the edge. As a survivor it made you feel like such a badass working through Ruin and hitting those great checks. I really really miss it.
Corrupt helps but all survivors do is hide. Yes its smart but with Ruin they would all be scrambling to find it which helped get the game going.
I haven't run Whispers in awhile but you are right that it saves a ton of time! Especially when there are just survivors left ^^

Whispers.
It proved to me why I never used those kinds of "never have them off" info perks like spine chill-- I don't wanna become reliant on 'em, I want to naturally develop those skills.
Yah that is a good one for when you are starting out as killer!
Once I had most maps and tiles memorized I felt more confident and dropped that one no problem. I kind of found the whisper noises distracting anyways ^^"
I think my hard go let go of perk for killer now is BBQ.

@DrJohn said:
What kind of offensive question is this?!? Do you seriously not think about the feelings of others before you type?!?
Wah? ;_;
-
Honestly if you are going for a slug build that is a staple. Its quite easy to lose track of a survivor when you are busy chasing down the last survivor to down.

Self-Care.
This perk was meta back when I first started playing DBD, and I only managed to drop it a very long time after its fall from grace.
That was my first perk I though I could never play without. Then my swf group at the time convinced me I could do better. Thank god they did ^^" Nothing drives me more batty then when you unhook someone and they run and use self care in the corner.
I think its a good perk but I find a lot of players waste too much time hiding and healing when I could have just speedy healed them with Autodidact or We'll Make It.
-
@Neamy said:
Was definitely self mend, now it would be spine chill
Yaaaa Spine Chill is pretty much always a must have for me too, but to defend it that perk is A+ and helps in a ton of situations ^^
Also every time I take it off I get a stealth killer. I am cursed ;_;
-
Maybe a L for you but I make plenty of escapes against him, and I'm solo.
If you aren't having fun with survivor switch sides, or don't play and take a break.
-
Like for real life scary?
I think Michael, Freddy, or PH.
For in game... Hag. She is the only one that surprised me and makes me scream.
-
It is a very cool map! It is one of the best looking ones so far. The details are extraordinary.
It seems to be a consensus in the community that outdoor maps are prefered. Indoor maps are muddled and either strongly favor a killer or shut them down.
I do appreciate the map but so far playing it has been rough.
-
I prefer Bond but Empathy is good for healing builds or doing challenges.
-
I want to see a sci killer or more beast type killers!
I always though a fun chapter would be a supernatural one were we get the Winchesters and a typical werewolf.
The werewolf can start as mostly humanoid and tier up (i like killer that start weak but get stronger as the match goes on). At tier 3 its a full big scary werewolf. Its power would be a long howl that that makes survivors oblivious for x amount of time. As it tiers up the range of the howl gets bigger.
Once you have hit oblvious survivors enough his special power activates. The howl then puts the werewolf in a rampage mode for 60 sec where it can severely damage generators, has a mini speed boost, and his attacks have less of a cool down (kind of like a built in STBL).

There are ways to tell, but it's still an educated guess at best. No real way to confirm. Generally, however, you can tell by how they time unhooks compared to what you are doing, how well the team as a whole moves around and against you, etc. Are you against a mess or a swarm? These are all hints, of course, not tell-tale signs.
If it is 4 solos I figure that out pretty quickly and can adjust my play style. Other then that when I play killer I feel like I have to prepare for the worst and put my try hard hat on constantly. It is very difficult to tell who solos are once there is a stack of swf :<
I wish we could see what we were up against... and I wish we could swap killers in lobby. If I knew I was up against 2 solos and a 2 man swf I could play killers I need to practice on. On the other hand if I see I am against a 4 stack swf then I can play my best killer and give them a worthy match. Right now its a gamble.
I know information can be abused but at this point would it really change anything?
As for OP's main post, it takes both sides to have a fun fair match. I play both killer and survivor (and I am solo). I see plenty of survivors making matches unbearable for killers as well.
I am sure there are some things the devs could do to help with toxic game play, but until then we all just need to try and be a bit nicer even when others are not being nice to us. Blaming one side is not helpful and further puts fuel on a massive fire.
-
60 sec would be fantastic! I have been playing with this perk and its just so meh compared to other gen regression perks. Changing it to 60 sec would be great.
-
Felix or Jeff- they seem nice and down to earth.
There are a few killers I would choose but for today I will pick Trapper.
For those of you not picking a killer to date... cowards!

I think they're referring to the doubt meme:
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/opbs2yrb-II/hqdefault.jpg
As for the topic that's another reason not to play solo. Killers enjoy treating solos like trash despite the fact most solos are giving them easy games that even a 5 year old could win.
How do killers know someone is solo?

Yes love the escape pod thing , Ive always wanted more than gates, like a fisherman and raising an anchor for boats stuff like that
Yah! There are so many cool escape things they can do!!!
Giant abandoned cargo ship and they need to escape on lifeboats.
Broken down space station using escape pods.
Underground mining place and they escape powering the elevators.
It would be nice if they spiced it up a bit ^^
-
Xenomorph, The Thing, or Necromorph. All of those would be amazing IPs to add.
I would also be down for original content that is a space station and hideous alien. Instead of powering exit gates the survivors power escape pods!
-
Bait for days.
But... the game tilts towards one side or the other depending on your level and if you are solo or swf.
So sometimes survivor sided, sometimes killer.
-
I like the idea of Corrupt as base kit for killers and Kindred base kit for survivors (if they took away the killer aura reading).
It would give killers a bit of time at the start of the game which is needed. As for survivors it would really help with solo-q and also making Blinding perks and add ons more viable ^^ Just my hot hot take!

Because you leaving is just as toxic and ruins the game for 4 other people.
When you play a multiplayer online game, you're making a kind of social contract to not bail on the match until it's over. Kind of like how, if you play a boardgame night with friend, you're agreeing to not flip the table if you lose. It's implied that you will play the game through in both cases.
The difference being: if you habitually ruin games with your friends; they will stop playing with you. And if you ragequit online games; you get banned.
I really don't get why it's apparently impossible for some people to understand that the world is not all about them. Instead it's 'I DC because all I care about is me and my fun! No one else matters!'
But they are also the first to scream if someone ELSE pulls the same thing & ruins the game for THEM by DCing.
Well said.
Its about sportsmanship. Unfortunately not a lot of people who play this game know what that is :<
I look forward to the return of the DC penalty.
-
They should make it something like:
"Earn 10 gold emblems during the event on a character to unlock the crown cosmetic for them".
Makes people play matches decently but doesn't paint a glowing target on their back.

Counterforce + Small Game has been doing well for me thus far.
Me too!
Counterforce + Detectives Hunch has been amazing and I have had zero issues with Hexes when I run those.
Some people don't like changing their build... and they don't like doing bones. Survivors want to get their objective done as fast as possible... yet they get all frazzled when the killer does the same thing ;_;
-
Its one of my all time favs!
My issue as a solo tho is people insist to run to a corner to heal... very annoying.
If you are unhooked and killer isn't around just stand still and let me heal you dammit.

I haven't faced a spirit in a long time.
Isn't their an audio cue when she is phase walking? That whoosh sound?

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2328816#Comment_2328816
hoping for a killer to make a mistake is far from good game design
Hoping for a killer to make a mistake is bad survivor game play. Has nothing to do with design.
Bad game design would be having survivors play the same way, every time, and not have to worry about the killers power. That is why we have so many different killers.
-
Unless Bhvr does an overhaul of the game there is no way to stop people from abusing camping/ tunneling. There are mean people who take these to the extreme but there are also killers that use it in a optimal way. For instance, you hook someone during end game. Are you gonna tell me the killers best interest is to walk away from the hook? No.
Your source sounds fishy. Bhvr would never punish a killer for camping. If killers were to be punished for camping and tunneling DBD would be dead in a week.
No one likes it. It sucks. But until Bhvr creates a way to take the hooked person away from the killer there is nothing that can be done. (I really think they should look at PH cage mechanic and see if hooks can become something like that).

Yes. I play all killers but Pig is my favorite and the most fun to me. I have played all 3 of these characters extensively and she is more fun then ONI or Nemesis (IMO). With practice you can be great with anyone so the strength of the killer should not matter in deciding. Nemesis has Lethal pursuer and Eruption they are good but PIG has MYC/Surveillance and both are great perks. I have won countless trial with surveillance.
Surveillance is easily one of my top 5 perks ^^
-
@glitchboi said:
Surprised more people aren't saying Oni. He's a blast to play.
Nemesis is also really fun IMO.
As a former Pig main she's kinda boring tbh, ambush is only good in a few loops and her RBTs are her only redeeming quality. She's in desperate need of buffs and add-on reworks.
I'd go for Oni if you want plenty of fun, Nemesis if you want fun and perks, and Pig if you want a basic killer with decent perks.
Pig is on my wishlist for killer reworks ^^ Her and Hag.
I still love her but you are right she needs those buffs.
I still find her fun to play regardless. I have a soft spot for her.
-
PIG!
She is great fun!!! Watch for survivors trying to boop the snoot. That is the big reason I play her ^^

No but you could also be wasting your time as you never know if Victor is there or not, and you also need to remember that as soon as you get a loud sound notification they'll probably swap over to Victor immediately anyways and either latch onto the unhooker or down the hooked
Thats the point of killer powers tho. Knowing what you are facing and adjusting your strategy to counter them. Its as much as a 'waste of time' as it is doing totems to prevent Noed that may or may not be there.
Survivors zoom around and rush plays all the time, and when they are hit with the consequences its the killer's fault.
Crouch, find victor, crush, unhook, and go.
OR run and unhook, hope Victor misses the pounce, then crush.

In my time playing Twins I’ve noticed a lot of people complaining about Victor being able to camp a hook while Charlotte applies pressure. Since Charlotte can see Survivors near Victor, he’ll always detect you going in for a hook save and pounce on you. Well, as a professional gamer, I’m here to divulge a secret trick to countering Victor camping. A lot of people don’t know it yet because it’s a super complex tech, but I’m here to show you a step-by-step guide into countering it.
Ready? Here it is.
Step 1: Crouch.
And that’s it! You’ve mastered the tech! By crouching, you render Victor unable to reveal you to Charlotte, meaning the Twins player has no idea you’re there! This gives you the opportunity to sneak up to the little gremlin and punt him in his stupid face! Congratulations, your neural pathways finally fired off enough for you to remember that the crouch button exists for sneaking and not just butt-dancing after getting hit through the god pallet that you wasted!
Thanks for tuning in to ManWithALemon’s weekly series Twins Techniques, and remember: Seriously it’s so ######### easy to shut down a camping Victor how have you people not realized this Killer has been out for SIX MONTHS-
I play a lot of twins, but rarely against them I had no idea of this!
Thank you for your PSA ♡
I really wish more people played them.
-
@Steel_Eyed said:
This is disingenuous. Many players don’t know Victor is camping until they enter his lullaby range, at which point the killer switches and hits the incoming survivor.
When you play against a killer you need to apply counters regardless if you if know a trap is there or not, this includes victor.
Saying you have to know a trap is there to apply a counter... well that doesn't make sense. Op gave good advise and its not disingenuous. If you play against the twins approach the hooks crouched and then crush Vic.

I do my best to spread the love. With the event going on, I want to do that doubly so in order to let people get as many points as possible without just throwing the game. That said, it always seems like I accidentally off someone well before the rest because I can't remember how many times I've hooked them. Would be nice to just look and go "Oh hey, this guy I just downed is on second hook already. I'll leave him as slowdown while I find someone else to hook."
Every time I see your name I giggle. Thank you for that Stibbity ♡
and yes. I want the hook counter for the same reason. When I am killer I just want everyone to have a good time... but I am dumb and if there are two Megs I forget which one was hooked when and someone bites the dust too soon.
Tunnlers will tunnel regardless. A hook counter won't change that. It will help the rest of us know whats up tho ;3;
-
The issue with survivor bloodwebs is they have a chance to spawn event medkits, flashlights, and cakes. Whereas killers just get cakes.
I really wish they would make it so survivors got at least 5 event item spawn per web or make it required that two of the spawns are always cakes.
-
No you cannot report that unless the killer and survivor are working together.
A killer being sweaty trying to get 4k is not against rules, just annoying as heck.
-
Here is what I like out of an event:
- Event currency that is earned by playing matches. Easy peezy.
- New cosmetics that can be purchased with that event's currency. I think they did that with the Lunar events???
- Make the survivors Event Medkits and Flashlights something you buy with the event currency instead of in the bloodweb. Save bloodweb for cakes only.
- LOTS of cakes or just make the event have a bloodhunt.
- Update gens and hooks to match event theme (they do a good job at this already). They can take it one step further and pick a couple maps to dec out. Not every map needs to be done but maybe each year a map gets a special event design.
- Make crowns a purchase with the event currency! I get why its a escape condition to obtain but it also paints a target on people's backs. If people have to play the match well to earn a decent amount of event currency that should help with DC or suicide on hook.
- Love what they are doing with the Shrine. Keep that up ^^
- Also love the daily log in rewards. That is awesome!
- Contests! I know there is a cosmetic/charm/art/cosplay contest every year but it would be nice to see more of these, even in a mini form. Its just fun allowing the community to compete and show off their skills. Maybe the winners win a ton of that event's currency and some shards! Can never go wrong with community engagement.
Oh and I think the Devs should pick the top three cosmetics/charms or anything that will be in the game and then the community votes from there what they want :)
-
It is because of the devs the game is where its at. The good and the bad (but a lot more good). If bhvr wasn't handling DBD anymore it wouldn't be DBD.
I don't know their internal workings but maybe if the growth was unexpected they are looking to hire more people onto the team?
Bhvr has done an amazing job growing its game, collecting licenses, and creating original characters. I would hate to see what would happen of some soulless company took it... loot boxes, shrine gone, out of control balance changes. Talk about a nightmare!
-
Yes please!
Not sure how much work that would take.
Well they are at it I would love accessories to be optional or a separate section for outfits. I love Kate's summer outfit but I don't like those pink glasses. It would be nice to be able to toggle them off.
-
If survivors wanna farm I will happily do so! Lets get dem BP!
-
@Daddy_Doctor said:
I hate farming with a passion, another thing that infuriates me is when a killer knows you are doing gens and not joining in with the farm but yet allow you to get ratted out by teammates to get farmed off hook. So to OP if you don’t want that 1 survivor to be left then leave them be to get out rather than forcing them to play how you want.
I wasn't forcing anyone to farm. Like I said I am just playing to hook, not sacrifice. Those 3 survivors unhooked him the first time and they continued to do gens, heal, etc. I didn't expect the other 3 to leave him hanging on 2nd hook :<
I will take your suggestion tho so that never happens again. If the majority wanna farm and one is just play normal I will ignore them.
