I might actually be able to see these.....except on Ormand (or whatever that map is)....gens could be neon yellow and I'd still get lost on THAT map.
-
I have no problem with in game chat. Is it part of the original concept? No. Is it realistic? Again, no. Has the game changed since it's inception? Yes.
ONE stipulation....it's a "broadcast" com. The killer hears coms inside the terror radius.

@MegsAreEvil a guy is literally going to DC because he can't stand being slugged for four minutes(btw the bleed out timer is four minutes).
Well now...that's the rub isn't it? 4 minutes is the MAX amount of time. So if we are being realistic...the slug time is usually even less than 4 minutes. Call is 2 minutes (right down the middle at half) and it's 120 seconds.....can't be bothered to wait 120 seconds?
What's the rush....gotta get into the lobbies faster and wait another 10 minutes? Oh wait, that's just killers....survivor lobbies insta fill....BUT still. 4 minutes maxed, 2 minutes typically....oh the humanity!
-
I've said it time and time again.
Create a damn "casual" lobby that puts anyone of any rank together. The server simply grabs the players with the best connection and puts them together. Throw the rank system out the window...because it's not used for matchmaking (or simply hide it for all I care). Let the try hards, who care about rank, play the DC game.
Don't get me wrong, lately I've been listening to people and asking why they DC. Some people tell me it's simply because they don't want o go against Killer X, or they lost 4 or 5 in a row...they keep getting found and tunneled inside of a minute after the game starts. Turns out, there is no single reason for DCs....some people (and yes I've been told this), just love the fact that they are pissing people off (even if they aren't, they believe they are, and that's enough to motivate them to continue doing it).
Rank is NOT the only reason people DC, I get that, but by giving the people who will NOT DC a choice to play with other people who will not DC, the game, at least, has a chance to flourish with casuals who care not about ranks, killers, or games lost. As a survivor, rank up enough, and the variety of killers you go against gets smaller and smaller.
DC enough times in a specific time frame from the "casual lobbies" and lose the option to join the "casual lobby". You STILL get to play the game, but only in hard mode from now on. Shouldn't be that hard to create a new lobby type, basically copy and paste right? I mean, we already have a 2 grouping lobbies (SWF and KWF), just remove the matchmaking aspect.

The amount of people defending Killers doing this is sad to see. Two wrongs don’t make it right.
Doesn't matter which side you’re playing, don’t be an #########.
I'm not sure anyone is advocating being an #########.
I believe what people are saying is that being slugged for 4 minutes is bearable and not game breaking.
As a killer...this whole argument smacks of fake outrage.
-
Insidious makes you go invisible.
*Damn, someone beat me to it.
-
Too difficult would be if the killer opened a gate, it automatically closed the hatch. So it could be worse.
-
I have 3 children...this isn't high school math. It's elementary math.
Look, I like you @Orion I understand or agree with a lot of your comments. I'm not arguing with you, even if you think I am, or if your think I'm an idiot. It's about as important to me as it takes me to type this lat statement. (90 WPM).
Base speed for EGC is 2 minutes. Do we agree we have BOTH seen the Devs confirm this? If the survivors are not injured or hooked, once the EGC starts, it's 2 minutes maximum? Is this correct? Has anyone tested the base speed of EGC?
IF base is 2 minutes.....let's get to your 4 minutes.
2 * 100% = 2
2 (base) + 2 (slowed percent of 100) = 4
Which the EGC is currently 4 minutes in game, as per your testing. According to the Devs, this is NOT working as intended.
So when we say things like, "It takes twice as long"....well the twice means "doubling"...that's not correct. Twice as long means you use 100%. IF that's what's currently happening in game, I'm not disputing that.
Then people say it will take "half" as long...in that case they are subtracting the time.
This EGC is HALF as fast while a survivor is injured or hooked.
You get 3 minutes every time. If it's seconds or charges.
I work for my State Department of Transportation. This is comp time, exact same thing. We deal with it all the time. If I work 8 hours of overtime, I can convert it to comp time and take 12 hours of time off paid at base pay. Overtime, as we all know, is time and a half. My base pay PLUS half my base pay. If I worked 2 hours of overtime, I can comp it for 3 hours of time off at base pay.
I'm not saying anything about how it's currently working....I'm talking about how it SHOULD be working.
IF the base EGC timer is 2 minutes, and IF time is slowed by 50% when a survivor is injured or hooked, then the maximum amount of time the EGC SHOULD last is 3 minutes.
And that's all I have to say about that.

See my comment I linked you to above and see this video, empirically proving it lasts 4 minutes and not a second longer:
I have no doubt it's not working as intended in the game.
I have no doubt that the devs have stated time and time again the EGC is supposed to last a maximum of 3 minutes.
I have no doubt that the math I provided is not mine, it's simply what happens when you enter data into a calculator.
50% longer than 2 minutes is 1 minute. Adding the base with the extra time is 3 minutes.
I'll check out your info, but it's difficult to believe this is complex.

That's if you are using nothing but a timer. DbD uses a charge/ticket count system for progress and times things based off of how fast those charges are used, not basic timers. The 50% reduced progress of EGC when hooked/downed effects the rate it loses charges, in effect doubling the total amount of time it takes to drain.
120 charges - 1 per second = 120 seconds or 2 minutes.
120 charges - .5 per second = 240 seconds or 4 minutes.
I don't know anything about these charges...but:
120 * .5 = 60
120 + 60 = 180 (3 minutes)

That's if you increase the time the EGC lasts by 50%, which is not the same as slowing the EGC gauge by 50%.
Not sure that's accurate. If I was increasing by 50%, the new number would be subtracted, not added. Also, the new number would be LESS than the base 2 minutes. In my math, I'm adding the extra time, in this case 50% more.
2 * .5 = 1
2 - 1 = 1 THIS is less time, meaning it's a faster timer.
I'll stand by my math on this one. I haven't timed the in games results. So I can't say it's working as intended. Faster you subtract, slower you add.
-
But IF the base is 2 minutes....
I just used a calculator:
2 * .5 = 1
1 + 2 = 3
-
Typical DBD game...3 survivor DCs on loading.

I think it's a good way to give it a little bit pressure on the gameplay.. but if you are the last survivor it's impossible to open of the gates without being seen by the killer. Played several times as last surv. and never could escpe, cause the gates are so near and the killer comes with NOED and finishes me. Maybe it would be helpful by taking the gates farther away of each other, taking another function to NOED (it doesn't activates by closing the hatch) or open the gates a little bit faster.
How is your experience with it?
I got out after EGC last night. Being a killer main (Billy), I knew I just had to wait until the killer (Bunny Mom) came to check my side. The gates were completely across the map...so I knew NOT to touch it until she checked it. When she saw no progress, she did, just what I would do...go check the other one. She didn't have enough time to make it back once out of heartbeat range. She got about 20m away when the gates opened, threw a hatchet and missed.
*edit I thoroughly admit that if it were a Billy or Nurse killer...I'd be dead. In a perfect world, the devs would implement a speed boost to the gate ONLY WHEN in the killers terror radius.
-
I completely understand tunneling can be annoying. I've experienced back to back to back to back games where the killer will find me in less than 2 minutes....and no matter how many other survivors are around, it's me they follow. No flashlight, no teabagging....for no reason, I can tell, I'm downed, hooked, farmed, hooked again. All within 5 minutes max. No gens, no totems, no saves...like I just load into the game to get downed, hooked and killed.
But...I just load into the next game.

"Anit-tunneling"? Tunneling is an acceptable aspect of the game.

Who did it better?

What are you even babbling about? I'm talking about specifically in the EGC when the killer is slugging you just to get the animation. You should be able to bleed out faster.
Pay attention before you try making smart comebacks.
No problem that I can see....get the Devs to agree to awarding any remaining possible BPs, and yeah, suicide away during EGC.

Your 1k in BP is not worth 4 minutes of my time. Simple solution would be to award the BP if the survivor bleeds out on purpose.
WOAH.
You say that as if you have the power to make it happen....which it won't. Offering a killer the same amount of BPs as 3 hooks and a sacrifice from a survivor controlled "suicide bleed out" and it's gonna be a slugfest. There will be no need to hook. No more flashlights, no more body blocking...your "WOAH" solution, just removed the hook mechanics, entirely. Deerstalker combined with Nurses Calling would be the new meta.
I thought of that inside 2 minutes....imagine what THIS community would do with it in 2 days.
-
@brokedownpalace said:
The EGC is an improvement but Idk why survivors can't now just press a button to bleed out faster, especially since killers can close the hatch.
Because allowing survivors to suicide on hook is bad enough. If you allow survivors to suicide on the ground when there is a killer actively looking for them to hook....this is just another mechanic to rob the killer of potential BPs.
-
Sounds like slugging is griefing.

Dame man calm down its honestly not going to affect your game enless you constantly rely on getting kills from that horrible tactic and EGC does not change the fact that you could block multiple people before the EGC starts. If that's all you do than I'm pretty happy that a toxic killer like you can't make us look bad anymore.
As for the body blockers that works as intended we even have perks to deal with that. If a survivor wants to try and I mean try because its pretty rare that it works enless you suck, to block a hook so their friend can escape let them. They're just wasting their own time and at least in my cases they get downed nearly right after doing it.
People just don't get it...I don't block stairs, I never have. I don't want to block the stairs. I don't rely on blocking the stairs.
It's the hypocrisy. Killers used to be able to block, just as survivors can still block. Killers used to hold the game hostage....big time "no no". With the EGC technically, 50% of the time, a killer blocking is not holding the game hostage. The Devs lowered the standard to "griefing".
If you want to understand what I'm pissed about, you have got to stop looking at the mechanics and look at the policy. It's okay for these people to do X, but it's not okay for these people to do X.
What perk does a survivor have to take to "slip" by the killer? "None" is the correct answer.
What perk does a killer have to take to, not even prevent, just lessen, the extent to which survivors can body block? Mad Grit. That's correct, for this extremely situational, and completely unpredictable event of having 2 or 3 survivors running at you...it cost a perk slot, when the truth is, Mad Grit should have been a killer default mechanic to begin with.
I thank you for your response, but this is obviously a case of people being willfully ignorant. As such, I'm done with this topic and I'm just going to play the game. people can continue to dance around everything I'm saying and not address what I'm actually saying all they want...it matter not to me anymore.

Yay! I'm happy that they decided to look into it and fix it. Much appreciation devs! <3
Not really a fan of new Legion so far though. The fast and furious game play seems gone. Maybe I need to get use to the new him, but I felt like a powerless Killer after the first hits. I'd rather go Trapper or Wraith for the M1 with a twist.
@FSB75 - One difference is as Killer, I can smack and damage players trying to block me. I can force them to move or down them. The other side of it literally has no solution if the Killer decides to idle it. Survivors can't body block a Killer for 20 minutes in contrast.
Body block for 20 minutes? No my friend, survivors only need body block for a few seconds to change the course of the game.
But, you and many like you are missing the point. Forget the stairs, I don't care about the stairs....most killer don't care about the stairs....it's the CONCEPT. For 3 years now it's been a balance...survivors can body block the killer because killers can body block the stairs. It was a consequence of collision in game. It was working as intended. You with me? Since day 1.
Then comes EGC, further reducing the specific instances where blocking the stairs would be taking the game hostage. Meaning, the EGC served as an impartial fix. Now to be holding the game hostage, as a killer, you would need to be blocking all remaining survivors in the basement prior to the EDC. The number of times that happens, I imagine, is very very low.
So, right before this stairs change, and I can't be bothered to look for it...the idea of survivors getting blocked in the basement while the EGC ticks away was justified...or at least acknowledged by the Devs. Something like, "Yeah, ######### happens". Things were still balanced...collision effected survivors in a negative way (they would die to EGC was blocked in the basement), as well a the killer in a negative way (inability to perform a hook, without the loss of a perk slot).
Again, it was still balanced. As a survivor, if you don't want to risk getting blocked ont he stairs for EGC, don't go int he basement. As a killer, if you don't want to have your hooks prevented by collision, take the perk (Mad Grit, I think).
Then, for no discernible reason at all, the Devs make the collision "fix" for the stairs...acknowledging the fact that it is NOT holding the game hostage...but now it's considering griefing. They changed the standard of measure to justify a ONE sided fix.
Body blocking by killers is griefing. Body blocking by survivors is working as intended. And to me, it's complete snowflake bullshit. The amount of saves from the basement is going to double, I guarantee it. It was a pinch point...it was dangerous. See, blocking the stairs wasn't always just about standing there for 20 minutes. It was about "using the space" to handle what's going on in the basement. I'm talking about things that happen within 20 seconds, 15 seconds, 10 seconds that can impact the game in very real way.
None of this matters...the change was made, and there would be a revolt to revert it now. It just amazes me that such a big change was made, and policy reversed, on a whim. Literally, on Mon. it's "it's not holding the game hostage", to Wed., "Well it is griefing so we changed it".

You do realize you're facing a rank 17 killer, right? Basically a newbie. A tiny bit of gaming experience and you'd escape 10 out of 10 times against a new killer.
It was never my intention to "brag", I don't care about the results, the killer, or even other survivors. I wanted to know if other players were doing the NPAOs.
-
Alright folks...sounds good I suppose...I was just hoping it was a new trend.
I mean, if you can't go below rank 15 anymore, there's no telling how long they have been stuck there. Hell, could be lvl 50 at rank 15.
At any rate, try it sometime, it's fun actually.
-
I said it before, I'll say it again...body blocking for both survivors and killer has been in the game since day 1. Only NOW, 3 years later is it deemed a big enough problem to solve for ONE side...survivors.
Solve it for both.
Solve it for none.
I can deal with either. I'm pretty sure I'm over it now, as an issue, but to think this type of one sided "fix" doesn't speak volumes is just obtuse.
-
I thought of that, but rank 15 and 1 perk slot....seems like rank 15 would equal lvl 20....no?
-
To rob the killer of potential BPs and rank.
It's a -1 pip if the killer hooks and sacrifices all players with one hook each. Sacrificed all 4 players....not one DC, not enough "action" to grant a 0 pip.
-
I would support a perma ban for anyone caught harassing this man.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, many people take this game way too seriously....as though it's attached to their self esteem or something. If you're Steam, Xbox, or PS account can be linked in ANY way to a harassing tweet, including, but not limited ot re-tweeting, gone.

EGC and the basement staircase are two different probably, not a solution to the staircase problem. They added EGC and as a chain reaction, NEEDED to make this adjustment so that players trapped in the basement would automatically die from a killer standing on a staircase doing nothing
BEFORE EGC a killer blocking the stairs was without a doubt holding the game hostage.
AFTER EGC a killer blocking the stairs allows for other survivors to complete the gens, power the gates, and end the game.
To be crystal clear here...if for some strange reason, only 2 survivors remain, and both are in the basement without the gates opened to trigger the EGC, then yes...that is still holding the game hostage. HOWEVER, that "problem" has existed as long as body blocking...so when the devs finally decide to fix collision, they do it on a one sided basis. THAT is what is infuriating.
It proves that blocking the stairs is (by their own words) griefing even when the situation is simply waiting for the EGC. Well what EDITED (rhymes with ducking) standard are we using here...body blocking is fine to prevent a killer from hooking, but not when waiting for the EGC?
If this change isn't a text book example of bias*...show me a better example.
You're a survivor...you went in the basement KNOWING you might get trapped....oh wait, the Devs got your back...fear not the basement my sweet young child, tis only a scratch you risk now.
Oh, your a killer dodging flashlights, pallets in your path, AND survivors....sucks to be you. Can't help you.

That is not the case. The basement still only has one entrance and one exit. If the killer knows you're in there, it's pretty much a guaranteed hit. Making saves in the basement is still a very risky thing to do. The only thing that has changed is your ability to block the stairs and grief.
This is steer feces!!!
No really, it is. Now it's greifing? It used to be holding the game hostage. Blocking the stairs for the last 3 years wasn't a priority!!! And that was before EGC! Killer used to hold survivors in there in a very real way for a very long time ACTUALLY taking the game hostage forcing a disconnect!!!! And NOW!!?? You solved that problem with EGC...but nooooooo, that wasn't good enough...after you solve the hostage problem, now survivors can just slip right past the killer.
You know, honestly, I can deal with the body blockers, I can deal with the flashlights, I can deal with looping and tea bagging....what I can't stomach is how you guys decide to fix a problem, then fix a problem that doesn't exist because you already fixed the problem!
So...NOW that you've proven collision is whatever you make it...how about dem body blockers? Still working as intended? Devs always thought survivors would just waltz right up to a killer and prevent them from making a hook? That about sum it up? Doesn't kill your immersion? Tea bagging survivors with flashlight running TOWARDS the killer....yeah.
You fixed the "problem" for one side and not the other. THAT'S my real problem.
-
I just got out of a match that had a DC and I lost a BBQ token.
Survivor had the flashlight, I saw it in lobby, used Lightborn. As I go to pick up another survivor, he tries the old blind the killer trick. Didn't work, obviously. I hook the survivor I had, he goes still, I know what's coming.....rev the Billy saw, get him down...BAM, DC, survivor on hook, DC.
It's no secret that the survivors run the shapw in terms of ranks and BPs awarded.
If it were me, I'd go BACK to the drawing board and start every killer in every match at 100% possible BPs awarded. Remove all the bonus BPs attached to perks and by the actions of the survivors...they "chip away" at the killers possible BPs.
Survivors finish a gen...-500
Survivors stun the killer -1000
Survivors heal to full -800
You could make arguments about the effects of some actions....like losing the killer takes away BPs form the killer, but that would just promote more tunneling. Which I'm fine with, but the survivors might not be.
The basis for the idea though is sound....survivors take away from the killers BPs pool by their actions as opposed to BEING the BPs pool.
-
And in other news..... the sky is, infact, falling.

Third, of all the titles given in the list, yours (game designer) was most interesting. I could wki it, or fake that I know what's it's all about like everyone else. Wow....tried to do the "Ace gate open" daily, and got hit with it...talk about coincidence. Hopefully everyone else got to play. Seeing it from both ends in the same day confirms for me that it's NOT me. But man...I've lost like x16 blood points. 8 BPSs or Puddings ON TOP of the x2!

Fix your matchmaking, I am a rank 8 and I keep entering rank 14, 16, and even 18 lobbies
As a killer, I'd LOVE to see some survivors below my rank. I only get them when it's SWFs.
I wait 10 minutes to get lobbies like this:
*EDIT for clarity....this was a total farm match. But the idea if the other 2 had not DCed before the start...yeah, pretty typical, then I get my ass handed to me.
-
So would you consider my bar to have "some progress", or is that considered no progress? I ask only because I get just that little bit at the start, and then nothing. I'm just trying to isolate if this is something on my end that I can or cannot control.
-
Is anyone willing to provide a list of links for Dev streamers? I'm VERY interested in watching these.

On PC...noticing the same issues. Increased Killer wait times, and during x2BPs no less. I thought it was rank related (currently rank 12, so it's not like it's a crazy rank).
In the last 3 days, at rank 13, 12, and 11...average wait time is 8 minutes. Don't know if these observation are linked, but yes, I am experiencing this as well.
