  • Annnnd it looks like I'll be playing on the PTB on the 25th.

For now, we will have centers located in the following areas:

    • US East (Ohio)

    HELLS YES!

  • I don't play on PTB. I don't like the way the game handles the full uninstall full PTB install switch.

So no, honestly, it's just going to make finding games that much more difficult until it hits live.

  • @Vlieger said:

Yeah it's not uncommon for someone to ragequit by using the "leave game" button. This only returns them to the lobby where they can choose to spectate or stick around till the game is over and join in the chat if they want.

Thank you...I've never DCed, I had no idea that was even an option.

Leave game, main menu and a "spectate" option appears? This is why I asked here...my initial thought was obviously way off. Thank you for the heads up.

  • @TheRoyalOwl said:

Probably not as why would you DC just to spectate to the end of the match. Quite pointless.

But how is this even possible is the question.

To me, this raises the question of IF survivors are actually DCing...I mean, yes, many are, but doesn't this mean it's possible that the problem is from the game side, not always the players.

Dude acting like he didn't even know he DCed.

  • Not a big fan of "culture Killers" tbh. I'm not huge into lore, but I do appreciate that aspect of a Killer. Licensed Killers are too pigeon holed, no cosmetics, no imagination.

It's Ghost Face....guess what...it's Meyers with a new skin (pretty sure a big knife was the weapon of choice; Buck 120).

I like legends, I like creativity...I mean, if your going to do a licensed Killer, why not Hellraiser (Pinhead)?

My favorite Killer is Huntress...I mained Billy until she came along. I really enjoyed Billy, but as one of the original 3 wise men, it was an obvious nod to Leatherface.

  • Currently, hatches opened with a key close themselves.

  • Players learned how to control Billys sprint...that should be penalized? As if plyaers who are good at Nurse should be penalized? Can't agree with you here. Billy is powerful, but not as easy as you claim.

  • There is no better gen jockey than the Dr.

I stopped playing him as main because the games went on for 20 to 30 minutes. By the end of the match, survivors either DC or come to me to be hooked (which I usually just slugged).

The secret to Doc is in the madness. It's more powerful than most killer realize.

  • I'll do my best to answer this question:

    No.

This issue has been around since about 6 months after the game was released. It's a collision problem in game. It's been suggested to give the Killer "more mass"...slower walking with a survivors in their path, but no longer so weak that the killer cannot move forward. That got tossed to the side I believe.

The other suggestion was to reset the "wiggle" progress bar for successful killer M1 attacks. You can imagine how well that went.

Another suggestion was an "exposed" effect for survivors while the killer is carrying another survivor. Survivors should be fearful, at least I always though.

It's just part of the game. It's considered a legitimate strategy option for survivors.

Does it break immersion to have 1,2, or 3 survivors running around evil incarnate hell bent on killing everyone...well yeah. So what if survivors are crouched under the hook and blocking a killer from 6 inches of forward progress.

Bottom line, like I said, this is nothing new, and if something were to be done, it would have by now.

Try playing Civ V for a bit...

  • Until I see a Dev response that they have worked with EAC about exclusionary files...I won't risk it. That's just me though.

Although not "looked for" by EAC for close to 2 years now, one stealth update and 3 months later you're hit with a retro....it happens.

Not really, no. The games listed in OP are the exception, not the norm. There are still games being released with crossplay that exclude PS4, and devs are still saying that Sony is not being open to it.

IF PS4 wants to "opt out", although not ideal, simply crossing with Microsoft would be a better start than nothing at all. May even apply a bit of pressure to join.

I just feel like there isn't much preventing this, but I am coming from a place of ignorance.

  • @SlothGirly said:

@FSB75 You forgot warthunder in that list.

My apologies, thank you for the additional info. Seems Warthunder is the ultimate in cross platform.

PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, Linux, macOS, Nvidia Shield

Clown is actually really bad in my opinion. Most pallets are still safe even if the survivor runs through the gas unless you have certain add ons, and good survivors just drop pallets early against him. He has zero map pressure, no game slowing ability, doesn't snowball well, and you'll have to reload frequently, which negates most upside he has in a chase. Maybe it's just me, but I find him mostly useless beyond rank 10. Freddy's game stalling gets me more than Clown's time saved in chases.

I find Clown to be add on dependent. I don't play him much, but like Huntress, he has a ranged "hinder" ability that can really do help close the gap and do some serious damage quickly.

  • Looks like I'm going to main Leatherface....

  • Is it reproducible?

    What are the steps?

    What are the conditions?

  • Exposed and chainsaws should be a "fast mori" in my opinion.

Unpopular opinion I'm well aware...just seems like a waste of an ability.

  • I'll perform a tally this evening and start a new main based on the community's opinion...looks like I'm gonna get to know Leatherface very well.

Basically, I'm simply taking the first killer name mentioned.

I will be using the killer perks and addons, as such "no blink nurse" isn't counted as a real vote.

  • LOL

DBD mixing Zombie Jesus, brightly colored eggs, and bloody hooks!

What could go wrong? Truth be told though, events take a bit longer to coordinate than time left to make it relevant.

Best to ask about a "Summer Event"...but we all know their time is better spent....ehh, nothing wrong with promoting. I agree.

  • Programming doesn't work faster just because you want it to or point a gun at someone's head.

    Never seen Swordfish...

  • @ModsElegiggle said:

Speaking from the red ranks, I can tell you with CERTAIN it's more about which killer and which add ons/perks they decide to use. Huntress with 1 shot ? DC, games over. Nurse with extra blinks, sweaty slugging, ebony mori killers? DC. Red ranks for solo survivors is an absolute joke, good luck getting 1 out of 5 games with a full lobby by the end. It's also infested with sweaty legion/nurse mains, nobody wants to play out a 30 minute slug fest with legion with ruin/sloppy combo and just playing defensively not even going for hooks. It's NOT FUN.

    Oh, oh, oh...me, me, me

I want to quote your very first post! Welcome to the darkest depths of DBD, the forums!!!

    Legitimate question:

Why do you believe killers, in red ranks, employee these types of tactics?

  • So it's possible to gain 28 tokens?

1 totem required for the perks to even be active, and 27 hits on survivors?

Does the dull totem become active once the gates are powered?

  • 3 - Leatherface

    1 - Meyers

    1 - Freddy

  • So basically it's a last, one time chance, for a killer to insta down a survivor?

The movement buff is a nice compromise, but the potential to down all 4 survivors, should they decide to get close enough, for a one chance hit or miss, isn't much of a compromise.

I have 10 tokens (or is 5 the maximum?) when the gates are powered: 2 totems left, and I hit survivors 8 times.

    With 2 totems left and 10 tokens I, as the killer, have 4% increased movement speed. All survivors have the exposed status. I swing at a survivor;

I hit, the survivor goes down and I lose 5 of my 10 tokens?

I miss, the survivor escapes and I lose 5 tokens?

With 5 tokens left, do I maintain my speed boost? Do the survivors still have the exposed status?

    With 5 remaining tokens, I swing at a survivor again;

I hit, the survivor goes down, I lose my remaining 5 tokens, I lost my speed bonus, remaining survivors lose the exposed status.

I miss, the survivor escapes, I lose my remaining 5 tokens, I lose my speed bonus, and the remaining survivors lost the exposed status.

What about incremental token status...like having 13 tokens. As a killer do I get 3 swings, hit or miss, for the exposed status for the remaining 3 tokens with a reduced speed bonus?

    Need more information.

@Kaelum Marth is getting pretty bad at DbD. He was great once but went downhill after the anniversary tournament.

Due to long breaks and health issues.

Same with Tyde he cut his hours by a ton too focusing on achievement hunting other games and isn't as good anymore.

Zubat and Scott are the greats atm.

Tldr: Mid 2018 Marth was an incredible Nurse.

I want you to know I'm laughing as I type this....I mean that...literally chuckling now.

WHAT KILLER IN GAME CAN I PLAY THAT PEOPLE CONSIDER TO BE A TRASH CHARACTER TO PLAY!!!!!!

    2 - Leatherface

    1 - Meyers

    1 - Freddy

  • @xxshinobazuxx

Smurfing is when a gamer plays on a false tag. GUID was put in place to prevent this. Smurfing is cheating, not de-ranking.

  • @HavelmomDaS1

Doc is my main...he is NOT weak by any means.

    So far I have:

    1 - Meyers

    1 - Freddy

  • @Kaelum said:

    The good:

With the exception of console, she is probably the best killer.

    The bad:

BHVR has already stated that she will be getting a hefty nerf, if she even keeps her blink at all, when she comes up for rework. She is low on the rework list though.

TBH though, the best killer is the one that you do best with, and the same goes for the worst. Some killers are easier to master than others, but only you can make that call. You might really want to know which killer is the strongest, and which is the weakest, which is a little different, and still comes down to the player.

I play on PS4, and the killer I main is Hag. She just comes natural to me, and I do extremely well with her. It helps that I also play survivor and know exactly what to expect. BTW, it is also possible to do best with a killer that you don’t actually care about. Marth is an incredible Nurse, but she is far from his favorite.

    Enjoy the game...

While I appreciate your taking the time to respond, I'm not sure you understood my question:

I want a challenge. I want the weakest/worst killer in players opinions so I can start a new main. I want to experience (test) the worst of the worst, the most frustrating, the most annoying killer to PLAY!

  • @xxshinobazuxx

In what way is it competitive?

I don't remember anyone downplaying H1Z1 or PUBGs as being "casual". H1Z1 is the "inventor" of the Battle Royal format enjoyed by PUBGs and Fortnite today.

DBD is casual, and not because I, or anyone else, wants it to be....no more than it's "competitive" just because you, or anyone else wants it to be. That logic works both ways.

It's casual because o the issues that high rank players face (another discussion).

By your own admission, in DBD high rank players DC to lower rank....name ONE competitive game in which gamers intentionally lower rank.

Name one, and I'll concede that DBD is competitive.

  • I like the "flagging" system someone else brought up. (sorry for no credit)

Group DC players together. I'm not alone, I've never DCed, group me with other players who have never, or rarely, had a DC recorded.

Gotta let them know though. Get a bunch of DC players together all the time and they are going to think the problem got even worse...LOL.

Games would constantly be starting up 2 vs 1....people laving on first down. I'd actually like to watch that.

I haven't seen much DCing (PC), but by the way some people talk, players DC 12 times a day. That should be hard to track and group.

  • Pro-tip - Adjusting the video speed to "x2" will (obviously) cut the video in half.

    D/Cing: I still don't see it as a problem

Does rank matter? No...it really doesn't. DBD is NOT a competitive game!! DBD is a casual game. More than that, DBD doesn't even pretend to be a competitive game...no matter how much many people might wish it as such.

You are good in DBD. Good for you....you are good in a casual game. Did you enjoy the game, or do you enjoy the idea (delusion) that you are a good competitive gamer?

So if DBD isn't competitive, why have rank? Good question Timmy!

DBD has ranks to help control the game experience. Different player are better than others, so a type of segregation is needed to match players with equal experience. THIS is the most common misconception about DBD. The words "experience" and "skill" are used interchangeably, and this causes many problems.

IF DBD had "hidden" the ranking system from players, it would be just as effective as a segregation tool, BUT the developers would have lost out on the re-playability motivator. It gives players something to play towards. Rank gives players a more long term goal to reach for, as opposed to just surviving or killing per match. The unintended consequence of this design is that players lost sight of the damn game by attaching some pseudo sense of self worth to the system.

Gamers who have been a part of competitive gaming would have a hard time listening to a DBD player "brag" about their level of toxicity or rank and keep a straight face.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't an elitist issue. Many DBD players have made huge monetary gains based on DBD play. There is enough room in the gaming community for the validity in casual gaming....but stay in your lane.

Own it, embrace it...rank means nothing!!!

How can rank mean anything in DBD when many top ranked players do what they can to escape the issues that face top ranks? Currently in DBD rank 1 - 8 means headaches (listed elsewhere)...but yeah, it's competitive?

So if ranks mean nothing, and players have attached an inflated sense of over achievement to it, it cannot be responsible for DCs.

    YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!

DCs are caused by 2 things:

    1. Ease of access
    2. Snowflakes

I don't even know how to DC...like can you just hit the menu and leave? If so...there you go. Pull the plug, Alt-F4, or just use the menu....BAM, out of game.

As for the reason people DC....they are whinging little bitches. There, I said it....someone had to. The penalty for DCing is not greater than the reward....simple as that.

Games not going your way? Can't be bothered to wait 2 minutes for a hook death? I'm out!

Got the wrong Killer? I'm out!

Someone else DCed, now it's 5 gens for 3 survivors. I'm out!

DCing makes other players mad. I'm out!

No reason needed...just to do it. I mean, maybe...just maybe if people played this game in he context by which it's suppose to be played we wouldn't have these problems. It's a bad match...just take it for what it is and in 3 minutes you can start over.

Hook or escape...see it to completion.

  • I'm too lazy to Google© for myself (and I like the free bump)....what gaming platform doesn't have DBD yet (PLEASE do NOT count "mobile" as a damn platform).

  • As a Killer main, learning Nurse, that video was AWESOME!!!!

Look....if I can't apply enough pressure to prevent this type of game play, survivors deserve the win!!

One of the worst things about survivors is the assumption they make, that what they are doing, is "triggering" the killer.

The WORST thing survivors do is find delight in the false assumption that what they are doing is "triggering" the killer.

I can say with all honesty, if that would have happened to me, that would have been hilarious!

  • @NoShinyPony said:

@FSB75 Think of other video games. Or even sports. There couldn't be any professional leagues if games were balanced for casual players.

Also think of this: The longer somebody plays a game, the better they get, of course. So with more and more people getting better at the game, more and more people will have unbalanced matches.

Imagine the big e-sports title were balanced for new players. That can't work.

    Just to be clear:

You believe DBD is a "competitive" game?

  • @NoShinyPony

"Any game needs to be balanced for its top players, so that applies to DbD as well."

    Simply, no.

The game is balanced for the majority of players, and the majority of players are not "top players".

While it's understood that higher rank players have a different (perhaps negative) experience than mid-rank players, it should not be the priority to build a game around the few. Would it be ideal? Absolutely and ambitious.

  • Okay....last question (critical thinking):

Did HE just say he was banned or has this been documented by either the developers or YT?

Seems like a lot of information comes from "someone who was there", and then you find that person and they heard it from someone who was there.

It's not that hard to create a new account, generate publicity by saying you were banned on the old account.

Well, that's as far as my curiosity will allow me to go. Seems to me like he's played a lot of people. I mean, even IF the developers did ban him, it's not like they would go public about it. So, that's the end of that.

I need 10 min, because my english is not rly good.

I agree with you a little bit.

I win and lose and the games are good for both sides.

But if I play vs tryhard survivors with pig, then im f***ked.

"The killer has less influence on the outcome than the mistakes of the survivors."

    This sentence is true.

But I dont like this sentence.

The devs did a good job, if the lock 2 years back.

I HATE pig! Still the only Killer than makes me scream like a child with the jump scare.

I agree, the game has progressed well over the years. Perhaps newer players are unaware of this perspective because of the time they join the game.

The Impact it has Depends on who it is and when they DC, but generally it ruins the trial for the remaining people.

If a Survivor goes down in the first minute of a match and gets salty and DCs then they end up screwing over the rest of the team and make it a 3v1 with 5 generators. If a Killer DCs it's over for everybody and a big waste of time.

When you have these kinds of games back to back because of how often DCs occur whether intentional or not It kills your will to play, at least for me.

There are people in this world that take PokemonGo seriously. I do not play PokemonGo. I do not share their enthusiasm.

I believe too many, not the majority, players take DBD too seriously. As I said earlier...the game allows for lag switching...and some serious players will take advantage of this. The game allows for DCing, and some players will take advantage of this.

I do neither, and in 6 minutes I get another try. I just keep swimming.

  • @Bongbingbing

What's the big deal about players who DC? I promise, I'm not being willfully ignorant or obtuse. I just don't understand what impact a bunch of crybaby snowflakes have on the game when they DC.

    Of what consequence is it?

  • @ShyN3ko said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/412654#Comment_412654

Ok let me describe it differently.

You play Trapper only and you got high skill with him.

You can still lose to survivors who have less skill than you.

Because Trapper has a skill limit.

Survivors dont have a skill limit.

It was once best described that this game, while playing as killer, depended on the survivors to make mistakes for killer success. In short, the killer has less influence on the outcome than the mistakes of the survivors.

Where I differ is that I don't see that as a flaw.

IF survivors perform with minimal flaws, why shouldn't they win? You are operating under the impression that flawless survivors have less of a chance based on the killer used. I believe that's an oversimplification of the average game. Does/can it happen? Absolutely, I concede to you that it does...BUT, does it happen enough that the game should be considered unbalanced? I say, "No". It does exist, to what extent?

I'm saying that the majority of people who play, the overall, median experience is positive, and warrants little change.

Thank you for providing different examples of a different perspective. I understand your perspective and simply disagree. Again, the existence of "ideal conditions" that may exist are not hyperbole, they are just not the norm either.

  • @GraviteaUK Thanks for the run down.

Seems like a domino effect. I couldn't care less about the exploiting...if it's in the game and isn't working as intended, that's on the game developers. The harassment...I'm 40+ so I still fail to see "online" harassment as a "thing".

The outright hacking though, if substantiated...yes, ban his ass. There was a lot of that going on in the early days of the game (for it's first year).

  • @ShyN3ko said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/412570#Comment_412570

100% is the same like high skill.

The game is balanced, but not for every killer,

if the survivors have high skill.

It's like the classic saying, "Equal opportunity does not guarantee equal results".

Here's my personal example...I don't play hag, but I had a daily ritual come up, so I ran Hag without any perks or add ons...I destroyed the survivors. Now, following this logic, which was it:

I'm just a God with Hag

    The players were horrible

    A combination of both

Hag is a strong killer that anyone can play

Stronger survivors would have been more challenging

Balanced is that I "won" as Hag decisively against that group, while the next round might only produce 1, 2, or 0 kills.

I personally believe the "balance" from this game comes from the infinite possibilities humans bring to the game. The abilities of both killer and survivors are basically set in stone. The potential of both killer and survivor are brought to the table by the players controlling them.

This MIGHT be a stretch...but think of something like drag racing. You can control the car. It can be the fastest out there. Best technology, best parts, finely tuned..no way any driver should lose. BUT, you put me in that thing, and I'm horrible off the tree, and I lose...was it the car, or was it the driver? As the driver, I'm the variable, I'm the cause of errors...or at least in this analogy, I'm the human element.

  • @PolarBear said:

    Simply ban evading. Nothing more.

Okay, so before it gets locked...I'm completely serious, I'm completely ignorant and curious.

Ban evasion...got it, but what was the original ban for? I've seen a few of his videos, and saw nothing that would warrant a ban. He's very good at evading killers, and no more annoying that the next player.

I couldn't be more serious, I have no dog in this fight. But if he was harrassing viewers on YT, why would that get him banned from this game. He obviously still has his YT channel, so YT much not have thought it was that serious.

Is there a video I could watch, while I eat my soup, that accurately describes what happened? No idea why, but yeah, kind of strange I'm this curious.

  • Why was this guy banned, other than his fake accent?

  • @ShyN3ko said:

Killer with 100% skill vs Survivors with 100% skill

Survivors will win every game without a single death,

If the killer player dont play Nurse,Billy or Spirit.

I find your use of absolutes misleading. The conditions by which you measure "balanced" are restrictive to the point of inconsequential.

  • @Yamaoka said:

It's 3 days before rank reset and you're still yellow/green ranks which means you don't play enough to be able to judge the overall state of the game. Not hating just stating.

It's the law of averages though. Like a bell curve, most players sit within ranks 13 - 8. So while there may be specific issues that address higher ranks (5 - 1), the overall game experience is doing quite well.

  • Dark times you say?

No...Jun. 2016...those were Dark Times for killers. The map was full of infinite loops for window juking survivors.

I don't see how the game could be reduced back to those levels.

  • I almost forgot....the biggest mistake I made in this game ever:

I didn't prestige Billy (two possible times) because I thought the reward, the (Legacy) fire shirt and pants, were dumb. And this was back when window juking was a REAL thing.

I remember thinking, "Why in the HELL would I want to stand out like a lighthouse? I'm a killer, I'm suppose to be sneaky, not broadcast where I am clear across the map".

  • Thanks for the responses.

I can see how a killer can set up a gen jockey and prevent the survivor from being able to fix that last gen. Thought they were going ot add a "panic speed boost" to gen repair though.

Ehh, it was a nice idea.

    Thanks again.
