Just had a match with a rank 4 killer playing pig. I was able to loop her well and she had given up on the chase multiple times and decided to just tunnel two of my other teammates. ( the minute one was taken off hook she would go straight for the injured one) I had only been hit once, never hooked. I managed to do all but one gen when the time came and I was the last one alive. She immediately closed hatch and found me and one hit down me with NOED. Honestly I’m not the best player but even I knew she wasn’t that great, at least with Pig. It sucks that I did pretty amazing that match and got screwed over by a perk a lot of people use to get a free kill. It feels like my efforts were undetermined very cheaply by this perk. I’m not saying get rid of NOED but perhaps if there’s only one other survivor left then NOED shouldn’t activate. Like to me NOED is used as a last ditch effort when all the survivors are still alive endgame and the killer hasn’t gotten anyone.

"the minute one was taken off hook she would go straight for the injured one"

Why do people complain about this like it isn't the super obvious and intelligent thing to do in that situation?

  • I love Otz because he is the Lawful Good player that we should aspire to be.

He avoids camping and tunneling, he does not teabag, he doesn't act like a jerk.

I watched ONE video of Monto and my words to describe his personality would be censored on this forum.

I'll stick to Otz, because yes, I read the FAQ.

With my luck not really, I've been playing against hold W gamers no loop.

But yeah that is all a survivor needs to do.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2011528#Comment_2011528

Do you have fun just holding W? And have you seen the rise of slingers, ph, demos, and blights? That is because holding W is just all a survivor needs to do.

But if this is all we killers get then the game turns into the most boring game ever.

Yup. I do have fun playing that way. I'm not one of those people that runs in circles until you get hit in the head with a pallet followed by a teabag.

    Early drop and run, baby.

  • What do you want me to do? Stand there and die?

If I know I'm not a loop master why would I screw around when I get considerable distance with a hard W and a few windows?

While we're nerfing 'over reliance' on perks, let's also nerf all the gen slowing perks. Those darn killers use them too much. Such crutches.

Can we stop being absurd now?

Absurd is the silly comparison to maybe 10% of a total perk pool, and one of the primary game functions of being Killer.

    Absurd, indeed.

  • The people acting like this would be OP just prove how overly reliant Survivors are on Exhaustion Perks.

I played so well that game and got done so many objectives but still get punished with a depip because the killer decided he wanted to face camp me. That is not okay and needs to be addressed.

    Are you in Red Ranks?

  • This thread is a month old, but...

NO. Absolutely not. The Huntress and Demo have tells because their abilities cause instant loss of Health state without even triggering their M1 cooldown.

Deathslinger is balanced because his shot does not cause a wound state in itself. And even if he does drag you close enough to take that health state he has to M1 and go into the cooldown animation.

Deathslinger is fine, and your example does not work.

  • Don't leave the match, then.

    BOOM! Fixed.

    Entitled killer main here.

If you can't win without tunneling/camping, you will never improve, I've been playing this game for far too long to not give a crap about how many kills I get.

If we go for your terms, survivors gen rushing and using really strong perks and items to allow them to do the same is fair.

If you want a depip squad that knows how to play you shouldn't complain when you lose to them.

Im talking about the current patch, not if we add the 20 minutes idea (Hell, why tf do you assume like if it's already in the game) and if you have eyes you can see that I said several times im fine with the current 3 gen strat.

Learn 2 read, and learn how to look for survivors, not everything should be handed to you on a silver platter.

There is nothing silver platter about a game that has been drawn out over 20 minutes.

Not my problem, the idea is there. If you can't look for survivors then it is your problem.

If he's looking for survivors then he's not tightly patrolling that three gen, now is he?

"Every word of this is 100% fact. Particularly the part about how it is Survivors that cause the terrible 3 gen scenario, not Killers. All you have to do is leave one generator way out in the corner alone and you are golden"

If you actually read what I said, you would know im not talking about the typical 3 gen, Im talking ABOUT a early 3 gen where the killer at the start of the game goes to the closest 3 gen and wouldn't move from them. This is counterable, but if we add the ######### guy with a blight pfp idea then that killer would just stay there for 20 minutes ignoring survivors or anything that happens to the game.

Pressing W and going for Gen A to gen B (basically a loop that the killer will repeat for 17-15 minutes?)

What's the counter there? Should we reward the killer with kills for doing nothing? Use your brain a little bit, and think about all the horrible situations that could happen if we add this.

If anything just add a button in the basement, if survivor dont repair gens for 5 minutes, the killer can press it and activate the EGC, that's way BETTER. At that point you just want the game to end, dont you?

"Oh but survivors are getting reward for playing stealthy and doing nothing"

You're not forced to press that button, you can still look for them.

Still not buying it. Survivors get out of the 3 gen scenario all the time. If in this example you give a Killer is really not doing chases, then the Survivors can literally take turns surrounding the 3 gens and doing 5-10 second gen tapping before vanishing back into the bushes. Killer loses in this scenario.

"If it worked that easily, people would just do it now with NO time limit." People already do this! as for you saying that forever doc being "False", the only difference would be it being called FOREVER. Doc. He'd still be impossible to beat. THIS IS WOULD MAKE IT A LOT WORSE WITH A TIME LIMIT. I'm starting to believe you're either trolling or are so too blind to realize just how broken this would be!

One more time, hopefully you get it this time:

Forever Doc with 20 minute time limit = bad

Forever Doc with INFINITE TIME = horrible.

I don't know how much more I can break this down for you.

  • @LazyPayday said:

To all you ghost face mains, you may have realized how they changed the daily, so that you no longer need to down a survivor you marked while leaning from a corner, and instead either just mark them, or mark them and down them. This made it a lot easier to get the daily done and made it more feel like you're playing the killer because of the daily, and not playing around the daily (if that makes sense).

Pyramid Head has the same problem, except worse. I don't own some killers so I don't know if there are any other bad dailies (I'm not counting Nurse's or Trapper's where it's a lack of skill with the killer that makes it hard) but this is the only one I know of at the moment. Pyramid Head has to send survivors to Cages of Atonement for his daily, which doesn't sound bad in theory, until you realize how situational they are. They are incredibly situational and are only really meant to counter hook perks or quickly move on to another survivor. So you have to throw the game in order to complete this daily in one match.

My proposal is either include final judgement as well as cages of atonement, or switch it so that it requires punishment of the damned instead.

    Honestly, this is fair.

Getting the punishment of the damned off on four successful hits in my opinion is harder than nailing four hatchets, and that is literally the Huntress daily.

Meg definitely would be the protagonist of one of the more modern deconstructive horror films. Stuff like "Your Next." In an Ensemble cast with more than one surviving lady she also will have a good chance. Otherwise probably not unless they play up the fact she is kinda a tomboyish everygirl that is still feminine.

Claudette has the most final girl energy in my opinion for a classic horror movie scenario. She is smart, kinda nerdy, kinda has a girl next door vibe, and is established to be empathetic. Its hard to imagine a movie that outright kills Claudette off that lets ANYONE live.

Feng has a bit too much cockiness for her to be a classic final girl and isn't really able to pull a Ripley, but in a story where multiple characters survive she could totally make it. She also is kinda a tongue in cheek joke character. Might make it in a more self aware B-movie plot, which is kinda what she is trying to evoke.

Yui either dies early or lives. No inbetween. She is the most likely to pull a Ripley and end up going on to make a franchise of it as well. Nea has a similar energy but could make it to the middle and then biff it depending on how they frame her past. As someone else said if the story focuses on her history she has really good protagonist energy.

Kate depends heavily on context. She is, however, peak not final girl energy along with Feng in my opinion, unless the story was like... about specifically her and her fame and the killer was some crazed fan or something. That said that is only in the context of the ENTIRE CAST. If you pair it down or imagine her among a 'generic' horror cast she is really heavily a final girl. Its just in the context of DBD's cast she is the obvious kill no matter what.

Elodie probably isn't the final girl because she is in a more ensemble based movie but she DEFINITELY makes it, especially because she is established to be really clever and tricky.

Yun-Jin depends on the 'morality' the movie is trying to espouse. If the movie is trying to say the world is tough she definitely lives after indirectly causing someone else to die because she wants to live more. If its a more classic slasher flick she gets someone killed then dies herself. If its somewhere in the middle it can go either way. Characters like Yun are actually some of the least predictable because there is a tension between "she is clever and thus earns life" and "She is ruthless and thus earns death." She might, for example, not be the final girl but instead be the one who gets out of the situation entirely midway through but in a way that abandons the other, but ensures help will come.

"Its hard to imagine a movie that outright kills Claudette off that lets ANYONE live."

It's called A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.

Claudette is basically Sheila, and Alice survives the movie alongside Dan.

Because half of it was not worth replying to and the other half I already replied to in the form of other posters that posted before you.

But since you want a direct response, here you go:

The "Just patrol 3 gens and autowin" mechanic is disingenuous. If it worked that easily, people would just do it now with NO time limit. There is this repeat argument in this thread from multiple people that bad behaviors that are already being done with NO time limit (Forever Doc), would somehow be worse WITH a time limit. This is obviously false, because at the very least it takes the "Forever" out of the "Forever" build. Every other point brought up is pure conjecture.

  • @Sluzzy said:

Then face-campers and tunnelers should also be banned. Being stealthy is part of the game you know. There is so few pallets now that if they are new they better be hiding.

Face-camping and tunneling advance the game objective and bring the match to a close.

Being stealthy does not. The two are not comparable.

Also, anyone that says "there is so few pallets now" clearly has never been hit by 19 pallets in one match on The Game.

  • @fr0sty1223 said:

I have played 8 games today and 6 of them had a killer that face camps or had tunnels 1 player the whole game. Its even more frustrating when you get done 3 gens and save your allies twice but still depip because the killer downs you and face camps you. The devs need to do something to discourage this kind of play style because it is extremely toxic and completely unfun to play against. I also know killers are gonna argue that it’s fair they get to use these toxic strategies since survivors can use swf but the devs could also just give killers a bonus for playing against a swf. Something needs to be done about these toxic strategies

Well, they try to make perks like BBQ & Chili but then Survivors call for that sort of thing to get nerfed, too. So I don't know what Survivors want at this point.

It is my understanding if you stand at the base of the hatch, right where the little line is, you can bodyblock the hatch as a killer.

    alright. time for biography.

the endgame collapse happens after an exit gate is opened which means they have a chance to leave. if they don't leave before that timer goes off then that's their fault. if there was an overall timer then endgame collapse, and the panic created by it, happens 24/7. what if the killer is running spies, whispers, ruin, and some other tracking perk or gen regression perk while playing as Doctor or something? all they would have to do is patrol 2 or 3 gens and then they'd get an automatic 4k from you're idea of a timer. Endgame collapse is fair different because they failed to walk the 2 seconds it takes to leave through the gate. an overall timer wouldn't be fair because of other tasks like totems/hex totems, healing, GETTING CHASED/LOOPING THE KILLER.

I really don't understand in the slightest how you think a timer would help this game. low ranked players/new players need to learn how to play, not feel rushed to do a single task. I understand if you're just mad about immersed players but if you can't find a single immersed player then that's your own fault.

"Feel rushed to do a single task"

20 minutes is not rushed. At all.

Someone's salty. I'm not complaining about a 3 gen. If you get yourself caught in that situation then a time limit would not be very suitable at giving everyone a fair chance to win. The survivors in that situation basically dug their own graves, so give em a chance? Mostly happens when you play solo. Not everybody has a 4 man stacked SWF to play with.

Give'em a chance? What? What? What am I even hearing? Are you suggesting the Killer should just LET THEM take the last generator?

In what universe is this level of kindness EVER bestowed up a Killer player? In what universe does a group of Survivor players go "You know what, guys? We've looped this Killer for like 7 minutes and we are down to our last gen. Let's just let him kill us all, just to make it fair?"

  • @Katee_Main said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2004661#Comment_2004661

The problem with that is a gen lock. To where the roles are reversed and the killer then holds the game hostage. It's already hard enough to beat a gen lock because you played yourself into being gen locked. Might as well DC if you're gen locked with a time limit.

Then don't be stupid and gen lock yourself. This is a Survivor created problem.

    @AsherFrost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2006211#Comment_2006211

    What's a gen lock? That's a term I have not seen before.

It's when the Survivors are not paying attention and just do any old gens they see, and the next thing they know the last three generators are so close together that it becomes easy for the Killer to lock them down in a very tight patrol, making it extremely hard to get the final generator done.

Survivor Mains LOVE to whiny about the dreaded "3 gen scenario", despite the fact it is 100% in their control and it is something they do to themselves. It's ultra easy to avoid. Pick one generator out in the boondocks of the map. Now... DON'T DO IT.

    "Only camping the gens"

First off, you can't camp 3 gens. Camping implies sitting still, watching 3 gens involves patrolling from one to the other. I know you want to use "camping" for the negative connotations it has on this forum, but the word just doesn't apply.

Secondly you keep acting like keeping up enough pressure to keep survivors off the gens for 20 minutes is an easy task that requires no effort. Fact is if the killer is good enough to keep 4 people away from 3 gens all by himself, you aren't winning that game regardless. Best you can hope for is a hatch escape for 1, why drag it out?

Third, appropriately enough, the three gen situation is largely survivor caused. Survivors choose which gens to focus on repairing, and if they choose wrong, they'll put themselves in a bad position near the end. So the survivor got themselves into a mess they can't fix, and now want to drag out the game forever because they know how unlikely a win is, why should that be rewarded?

Every word of this is 100% fact. Particularly the part about how it is Survivors that cause the terrible 3 gen scenario, not Killers. All you have to do is leave one generator way out in the corner alone and you are golden.

I play slow and use hide tactics. I can still SOLO five generators in a whopping 20 minutes. 20 minutes is extremely generous. If they are not done in that time the Survivors are intentionally avoiding objectives.

    @Bond4ever said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2005240#Comment_2005240

You're basically camping gens cause you're not doing anything else than just going from gen to gen and ignoring every survivor to the point you'll make them quit.

This already happens with doctor but it isn't that common, now imagine this change on a high mobility killer....

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/GTTF3HIMKN1J/image.png

And you dont have to "keep pressure" a toxic doctor 3 gen strat build will just ignore EVERY SURVIVOR and just press w and go from gen to gen, basically like a non stop loop, and if a survivor doesn't get off the gen he will just grab him and drop him.

If a killer wants to be toxic he doesn't care if he has to do that for 30 minutes, he just want to make the survivor suffer that's all.

NOW making this work as every killer would be game breaking and would just make every survivor leave (yeah not every killer will play like this, but im sure if the game isn't going as the killer wants it to be, he will ofc do this strat)

Fact is if the killer is good enough to keep 4 people away from 3 gens all by himself, you aren't winning that game regardless. Best you can hope for is a hatch escape for 1, why drag it out?

You dont have to be good when gens are close enough all you have to is press W and go from gen to gen and ignore anything that happens.

There isn't a "fact" and you're not winning the game isn't a argument, so we should end the game once the doors are open cause the killer isn't getting a 4k at that point? Is that fair to you?

Third, appropriately enough, the three gen situation is largely survivor caused. Survivors choose which gens to focus on repairing, and if they choose wrong, they'll put themselves in a bad position near the end. So the survivor got themselves into a mess they can't fix, and now want to drag out the game forever because they know how unlikely a win is, why should that be rewarded?

Most of the time yes, but we're talking about what most killer would do:

    1. Everyone loads in the game
    2. The killer would go directly to camp 3 gens and he wouldn't move from that zone
    3. The killer waits for 4 gens to get done
    4. Now the killer will just press W and ignore anything that happens in the game, he will keep doing this
    5. NOW if we add OP's idea to the game the killer in this situation would just win for not doing anything.

Do you even see how BAD this situation would be for the game, or you're just trolling?

The faulty premise with that wall of text is it somehow implies that a Forever Doctor Troll Build is somehow worse at 20 minutes than it is at 45+.

I did not see one argument to support why letting him go on longer is a better idea.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2004895#Comment_2004895

Egc there's no reason they can't leave, other than blood warden. The other is at least partially outside of their control. The killer didn't actually kill them, so they don't deserve the kill.

I see no difference between patrolling three gens and patrolling two gates.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2004850#Comment_2004850

Because if the end game collapse has started and the survivors fail to make it out they earned their death. A timer would award a killer a 4k if they can just stall long enough. 3 gen impossible skill checks doc would be basically an automatic 4k.

    I'm not seeing the difference.

Both are examples of Survivors failing to reach a timer.

playing against immersed survivors isn't fun but there isn't a simple fix.

I would argue my fix was very simple.

  • For a second I thought this was a troll post, but it dovetails into another issue.

It's not the immersion part, it's the borderline holding the game hostage part.

Jason has most of the same abilities as the killers we already have. At this point, the killers we are getting are just stand-ins for Jason.

Teleportation is held by many killers.

Jason can phase just like Spirit.

Jason can throw hatchets and daggers just like Huntress and Trickster.

He also has teleportation which other people have mentioned.

He can also appear out of nowhere. Wait, that's the same as teleportation, but that's mentioned multiple times by me and others.

He could easily do something with the lake and its mist as well.

Also, walking through walls and pallets without Brutal Strength, nor is it even Spirit Fury, since no it would be pretty much instant, not requiring a stun or kick animation.

Name me ONE movie where Jason can teleport or phase.

  • I think Devour Hope encourages Killers to not camp hooks and gets rewarded for it with Exposed and Moris. That's a fair trade to me.

You just said Jason has no supernatural abilities, yet he has been shown to have several, either being directly shown, like in all the games and some comics, or being suspected in the films.

Also, you defended Trapper when he has no supernatural abilities. Come to think of it, most of the killers in the game don't have powers. Only 5 do. Those being Nurse, Hag, Doctor, Freddy, and Spirit. Other killers have otherworldly powers-like Hillbilly-, or they rely on a supernatural object like Wraith. That or they have no power like Trapper or Slinger.

You have yet to name a single "power" from the films he has that would translate into this game that isn't covered already by a perk such as Brutal Strength. Brutal Strength, incidentally, being a Trapper perk.

You say it because you have no idea how it could work, just like people who think that Alien does not fit, Candyman neither, Chucky less and in the end it ends up coming to light as a playable character.

You can MAKE anything work. They could code it so every time Jason lands an M1 party streamers shoot out of his ears.

Doesn't mean he should, or that it makes any sense.

If you are trying to cite Mortal Kombat, you are already scraping the barrel.

This community is constantly: “nerf survivor perks, survivors are op, survivors shouldn’t be able to do swf because it’s toxic” but every time nerfing anything about a killer is brought up it’s instantly shot down. Killers should never be nerfed and should be allowed to use whatever toxic strategies they want to while survivors should be nerfed to the point where it’s not fun to play as survivor anymore. I play both killer and survivor a lot and I can tell you that killer is extremely powerful right now and survivors are not as op as everyone thinks. Not to mention the hitboxes are still atrocious. We need to stop playing favorites and actually balance both sides instead of going nuclear on one side and leaving the other mostly untouched

"Balancing both sides" is an erroneous term. For there to be an imbalance, it means one side is over the other. It is not possible to be imbalanced on both sides.

It isn't bias to notice which side has more things going against it than the other. I play more Survivor than Killer and the problems with Killer are WHY I don't play Killer very much.

Pretty much every slasher has the ability of regeneration. Jason however, is one of two that can come back to life after dying (the other being Freddy). Also, considering how slow Jason moves-pretty much power walking-there is no feasible way for him to around at such a rate that he does.

That's why I mentioned pulling ideas in a previous comment. Jason is, imo, the only slasher we have that could be considered an unstoppable killing machine, so he has to reflect that if he ever gets a spot in the game. Since he shrugs off anything other than being blown up, plowing through wooden pallets shouldn't be much of an issue.

Regeneration is a pointless power in a game where the worst Survivors can do to a Killer is a flashlight blind or a pallet stun.

Jason is the original big guy with a cooler mask and machete that can do what Spirit, Freddy, Trapper, Huntress, and Trickster can do, but better. He also has built-in Spirit Fury. Now, of course, having it all would be OP, but being able to teleport in front of survivors during a chase using the mist would be good. And so it isn't countered like Nurse, you would see Jason following you until he has successfully teleported. He would also have his Rage ability, but in DBD, he would ignore all pallet stuns, could walk directly through breakable walls, and would give survivors no sprint burst upon a successful attack. Yes, it can work with STBFL.

Jason has no supernatural powers whatsoever outside of his physical prowess. He has never teleported in any movie. This sounds like some weird attempt to jank in his video game mechanics into Dead By Daylight.

Just had a match with an swf team that seemingly didn’t have much interest in escape, they just wanted to continually stun me with Head On by leading me on chases that would go past lockers their friends were hiding in. If I was a sweaty killer I would have been annoyed but I actually found it kind of hilarious! They weren’t trying to escape but funny enough I wasn’t trying to win either, I just set out to shock as many times as I could to earn the shocking treatment trophy. Ultimately I wound up getting a 3 K and pipping which I didn’t want and it took way to long to end the game. First time I’ve run into a group like this though.

It's entirely possible they were doing the Archive Challenge.

It's a heavily unbalanced perk. You can recover at any time so it's like an infinite Unbreakable at the cost of being injured all game. But don't worry, with Self Care you can heal yourself! If you choose to stay injured all game you are 50% quieter. It's Unbreakable and Iron Will in one perk. Most OP perk in the game.

You can't heal yourself. No Mither leaves you permanently Broken.

What is up with this tonight? So many killers are going out of there way tonight to tunnel and nod when they catch you. Repeatedly smacking you on hook while nodding yes rubbing in your face. to add insult to injury running your mouth in post game asking "y u mad" Like damn what is up tonight? bad previous matches so you feel the need to make the next group of people feel like crap cuz of it or what? And people say only survivors are toxic...

It's the back side of the cycle. Most Killers reached that point after being bullied themselves.
