  • I though you were supposed to walk up to them and press CTRL three times. If they nod, they want to farm, right?
  • Ruin doesn't really do anything on red ranks. They hit all the Great skill checks, or they know where all the totem spawns are, or they have two people gen tapping, or they just spawn right on top of it at the beginning of the match anyway. I see tons of streamers talking about how Ruin is needed in every build, then they get into a match and Ruin is cleansed in 30 seconds. Or, the same streamer plays a survivor game and solo finishes a Ruin gen 1:31 seconds into the video (I'm looking at you, Tru3...)

Sloppy Butcher is my go-to for slowing down healing on several killers now, though Coulrophobia is better on those with a larger TR. I still can't get behind SpaceCoconut's Hag Coulro build though. It just doesn't work for me like it does for him.

You really do have to play around with different builds to find the one that works best for you. I have a few that I like on Hag, though M&A & Sloppy are almost always included. Really though, it's less about the build and more about the pressure. As long as you can keep them moving and reacting to you instead of you reacting to them, you can win.

If someone starts going through a set piece on the map and you don't have it trapped, trap it instead of chasing them. If people start setting those traps off, injure them. Having four people injured is almost as good as having one person hooked, and if they're all using SC with Sloppy you're looking at 30 seconds of trap-setting or hunting time.

    Some things that may help...

Trap Attrition: Make sure you're resetting traps that have been used. One good idea is to put down a trap before you pick someone up off the ground. After all, at least one survivor thought that was a good place to run to.

Bodyblocking: If there are other survivors around, hit them (or at least chase them away) before you pick up the downed person. If you think they'll prevent you from reaching a hook, it's better to just leave the person slugged and go after the bodyblockers. Even better if all three are hanging around your slug, just keep hitting them. After all, they're not doing gens.

Fake Pickups: If you know there are people around your slug but you can't find them, fake a trap while standing on your slug. Just tap M2 and release, and you'll often find a flashlight pointed at you or a bodyblocker taking position when you stand up.

Pallet Traps: Master the pallet trap. One of the most satisfying things you can do as a Hag is watch someone vault a pallet and then jump right back into your arms when they set off the trap on the other side... especially if you get that sweet "grab them by the throat" animation.

She's not really fair tho. If you at least give a chance to counter her she'll be more fair for survivors. But it wont happen.

You counter her by being sneaky, by breaking line of sight during a chase, by moving in an unpredictable fashion, and by using the stun after a blink to hide.

Parts of the guide are outdated now but there are some really interesting sections too.

    Thanks

If you look at his more recent videos, there's a small update for the recent changes. He also has trapping guides for most maps.
  • Ya I thought about that and it is a good idea to hide but there were two of us and we didn't have any communication so I didn't know which door the other remaining person was going to so I kind of got screwed. lol. Basically it seems like your only option is to remain unseen which in fairness I was unseen for most of the game but she guessed which door I was at so it ended in disaster. What really ticked me off though more than the mori was the fact that I did over 3 gens by myself. That should never happen. lol.

I know how you feel. Sometimes you get those games where you've done 2 full gens by yourself while everyone else has been hooked at least once, then you get in a chase that lasts 3 minutes and no gens pop.

Very funny but I'm serious. It's a free kill that no one deserves.

    Sorry, I couldn't resist.

On a more serious note, it CAN be countered. The killer doesn't get aura reading, they only get a static alert. They don't know which of those alerts is the obsession. You KNOW they have Rancor, because you see their aura after every gen completion.

Once you know they have Rancor, just move to a different spot and hide when the last gen is completed. While you are down to 1 gen left, try to stay as far away from the killer as you can. If you want to be extra careful, either wait for someone else to open the gate or make sure the killer is in a chase before you try to open it. Once the gate is open, leave immediately. After finding out they have Rancor, you have 4 gens worth of progress to plan your hiding spots and escape route.
  • High risk, high reward.

Makes me not want to use decisive strike simply to avoid it.

  • A survivor cannot spectate the killer, but they can spectate other survivors regardless of whether they were SWF.

Use the fact that Rancor tells you exactly where the Killer is.
Don't stick around when the gates are open.

    EZ

Edit: Also Sole Survivor does literally nothing since Rancor isn't aura reading.

I get rancor a lot and I don't run any obsession perks as survivor. It also favors me over the others with DS or whatsoever.

I usually just sneak as much as I can and stay out of the killers terror radius or try my best to pay attention to their location.

... I thought a survivor with an obsession perk will always get picked over someone who doesn’t have one? That’s what it used to be at least

Apparently not always. A obsession perk only increases the chance to be the obsession, but it is not a definitive.

Huh. Must increase it by a ton then. I know if a survivor has an obsession perk but killer doesn’t it’s girenteed. So it must be the killer perk that throws it off. Kinda dumb, given rancor is good for countering DS.

    I'm fairly certain that's a bug.

Not really. Otherwise the perk description of survivor perks would actively mention that you are the obsession for sure. It only increases to be the obsession. If the killer has a obsession perk, a survivor with no obsession perks has the possibility to be the obsession.

That's why it says it increases the chance to be the killer's obsession, but it's not guaranteed. The word Increases is the main factor. It is not a 100% chance if other survivors have a obsession perk or if the killer is running one.

My understanding is that if one or more Survivors have Obsession perks, then they and only they will be the Obsession, no matter what perks the Killer has. We should ask the devs about this.

This is the sentence of every survivor perks: "Increases your chance to be the Killer's Obsession."

It says specifically increases and the way it's worded is very clear. It does not say you are for sure the obsession. So if the killer has a obsession perk and the rng decides to not pick the survivor with a obsession perk, it might take someone with no obsession perk.

Calm Spirit also doesn't say birds will fly away if you step on them (although it's obvious, IMO). Perks don't always reflect the full nature of a mechanic. IIRC, the devs intended for it to work in the way I mentioned.

I can try asking, but I remember they mentioned it was not a 100% chance if the killer has a obsession perk and it happened before 2.0. to me and friends already. Also to NQ on live stream, where she was DL even tho other survivors had DS.

It's happened to me too. I've been the DL even though someone else had DS and i had no obsession perks. As a guess, I'd say killer obsession perks increase the chance to be the obsession for each survivor.

It might even be as simple as drawing a name out of a hat. If the killer has an obsession perk and no survivor has one, everyone gets one ticket in the hat. Each obsession perk adds one more ticket with your name on it, so if you're trying for Adept Laurie you have four tickets while everyone else only has one.

I bet the only reason were even noticing it more now is we can see who the obsession is. Before, we just assumed when DL popped up that the obsession was the one who died.

I think that mod was talking about making the BP bonus from both perks innate.
  • My rules fluctuate depending on my mood.

If I'm in a good mood, I usually go after the unhooker, try not to tunnel, sometimes give the hatch.

If I'm in a bad mood, my only rule is don't camp unless they REALLY deserve it.

Another pro-tip: if the hatch is open, stand still in a random location with clear line of sight of your surroundings. The Survivor will think you're at the hatch and come to you (if they don't know where the hatch really is).

I've done this. It worked beautifully.
It tends to work really well if you stand on one of those hills the trapdoor could spawn on. Makes you nice and visible.

Rancor doesnt give killers aura reading.

So its like a missed skillcheck?

Yes. It's just like a loud noise alert. If you know the killer has Rancor, you need to move when a gen is done. The killer can't see which direction you go after the alert pops up.

They had to do it that way because an aura would be countered by The Spirit's own power.

I won't argue with that. I just think they need a buff to BASE BP, not WGLF.
  • Theres not really a clear answer to that. It's better now that you can trap mid-chase, but still annoying. You can either go for them and try to mindgame-trap loops as they're running, or you can ignore them and let them waste their flashlight on loop traps instead of hook traps.

I usually ignore them. Eventually they'll step too close to a trap while trying to flashlight it, giving me a free hit. Faking trap placement can make them waste their flashlight faster or or catch them in a second-guess game (did he fake it or place it?). Usually what happens is I'll down someone else, fake a pickup by faking a trap, then smack them when they move in for a flashlight save.

No, they're playing their normal killers and spending all their BP to unlock The Spirit's perks.

Hence way survivor BP profit being too low is a problem, that several people here are denying

It's been that way since before WGLF and BBQ though. Killers have always gotten more points on average than survivors.

Your complaint that WGLF is too hard to get tokens on is just silly, though. All you have to do is interfere in a chase, take a hit, then run away and heal. Or just run BT and divebomb every hook. Unhook once and take a hit for the person you unhooked, that's half your tokens right there.

  • I like running Knock Out and slugging to keep momentum. I don't camp the slugs though, as that negates the momentum. Generally, I only slug if there is someone else to chase, or I down the slug off in a corner where he'll be harder to find.

Slugging until everyone bleeds out is just boring to me. I have had all four slugged at once, but I immediately start hooking them. The only time someone bleeds out on the ground is if I can't find them or they found a corner where i cant get them to a hook.
  • I dislike most of the large open maps on both killer and survivor. Rotten Fields, Sheltered Woods, and Mother's Dwelling in particular.

I actually like The Game and both swamp maps on either role. Plenty of places to play hide and seek.

I have a love/hate relationship with Haddonfield, though one simple fix would get rid of the hate part. I just wish they'd put more breaks in the hedges and fences. Too many times I get locked into a path by those hedges. I turn a corner expecting a break, and find that the fence runs the whole length of the house.
  • Now that I've heard the new sounds, I guess they're ok. They do sound more like Evil Dead than a ghostly spirit though.

The speed is a bit too fast in my opinion but they shouldn't decrease it. They should just increase the time it takes to repair gens again, at least until there are more objectives that need to be completed for the survivors to be able to escape.

    Why "again"?
    Gens became faster over time.
Skillchecks became easier, toolboxes got buffed…

Generator repair times have already been increased once before. I think they only took 50 or 60 seconds for one survivor at first. Not sure about the numbers tho, but they upped the time to 80 seconds which is not enough right now. It was good at the time but it's time for another ''nerf'' I guess.

I highly doubt that they ever increased the gen time by 20-30 seconds.

No no, they actually did. I, of course, don't know the exact patch when they did it, but they did. I've been playing since beta and noticed a large difference when also playing survivor. However as you said, toolboxes and other stuff outbalanced that ''nerf'' and it got overshadowed basically.

Sorry to be a disbeliever, but without the patch notes I won't buy that.
Not by 20-30 seconds. That would be way to much. They would have got their office burned down by survivor player armed with torches and pitchforks for a 30 seconds gen time increase.

No they wouldn't. I think it was around the Michael Myers Halloween patch. They probably didn't moan about it since that was the time they got DS and they had to moan about the machine gun build. Not sure if u know what build that was, but it basically stacked Save the Best for Last and Unrelenting (since both perks used to reduce successful and missed attack cooldowns) making the cooldown so fast that counting to 1 was a good cooldown assumption.

I am basically playing since that said Halloween DLC.
Still, I do not believe they ever increased gen time by 20+ seconds.
Prove me wrong if you can. ;)

    Not 20 seconds, but...

    https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Patch_Notes_1.5.0
  • Here are my thoughts on what Diversion should be...

45-second cooldown. No tokens, no requirement to be in the killer's TR, just a 45-second cooldown. You start the match with the perk on cooldown.

    No changes to range

Using the ability creates a loud noise notification at a random location within a 0/5/10 meter radius of the range. If an interactive object (pallet, window, hook, gen, other player) is present in that radius, the notification will be centered on that object (randomly chosen if more than 1 object).

Tier 1 of the perk just puts the notification 10 meters away, same as it is now. Higher tiers of the perk search in a short range for an object to attach the alert.

As it stands right now, the perk just makes a noise that could well be in the middle of nothing. With the upgrade, you could hide while intentionally putting an alert on a nearby window vault

  • There's literally no reason to run this perk over WMI for team healing. Or BotanyK for a flat permanent increase.

Botany is a speed increase, Autodidact adds instant progress. They're two different things. Botany makes healing others about 2.4 seconds faster. Autodidact could possibly complete a heal in about 3-4 seconds. It doesn't rely on you needing to be the one to unhook like WMI.

I'm not sure if Autodidact is worth it yet, but each perk has its pros and cons. Of the three Botany is definitely the weakest and Autodidact is the most situational.

I just healed someone and got 4 skill checks in that one heal.
Well put. I think with the proposed increase to healing times and the recent increase in killers using heal slowdown builds, Autodidact will have a place.

If they double healing times (just a random number, I don't know what they're actually planning), Sloppy Butcher would make healing someone else take around 30 seconds. Botany would knock off 6 seconds or so, but Autodidact could finish off 15 seconds worth of healing in a single skillcheck.

I don't care for Deliverance, mostly because I want the items I bring in to be of worth. If I am caught and hooked first, it becomes a wasted perk slot. Honestly, this perk is a bit over-hyped. I honestly doubt it will become an effective meta. If all 4 people use Deliverance, it is guaranteed that at least one person cannot use it. If anything, Deliverance might actually encourage camping.

Realistically speaking, it would guarantee that at least two people can't use Deliverance.
    But I digress.

    Well technically...

S1 gets hooked, S2 unhooks. S2 gets hooked, Deliverance unhooks, S1 gets hooked the second time, S3 unhooks. S3 gets hooked, Deliverance. S2 gets hooked the second time, S4 unhooks. S4 gets hooked, Deliverance.

So that's one way to get 3 Deliverance uses in a game. Add in 4x DS, 4x DH, and 4x Adrenaline for maximum trolling. I could see that being a very frustrating match for the killer, though I imagine after the second Deliverance the killer would likely camp the first hook stage on the last one.

Granted, that would require a very coordinated SWF and a bit of luck.

Edit to clarify: I don't think it will become meta, but I do think troll groups will use it.
  • I also agree. They give all of these notification icons even when most of the perks can be noticed in-game anyway. I mean, Ruin has a red skillcheck FFS, do we really need a hex notification on top of that?

The Devour Hope notification is particularly annoying to me. You get a single one-shot down, and every survivor gets a notification to go into ninja mode until they find the totem. They get that notification even if the survivor you hit was already injured. At least make them pay attention to their teammates' status.
  • I got Adept Nightmare a couple of days ago... The first person DC'ed as soon as I put him to sleep, the second suicided on the hook, and the fourth sprinted to the hook right in front of me.

I don't really feel that I deserved that achievement, but oh well.

  • I don't really understand this recent "blame the tutorial" trend. A tutorial should just give you the basics and let you figure out the rest on your own. That's what this tutorial does.

As for blaming the tutorial for "Balance Complaints", the tutorial was added to the game in May of this year. Before that, there was no tutorial at all. I'm fairly certain we had balance complaints prior to May 2018.

Tens of thousands of players learned every aspect of this game without a tutorial. Read the descriptions of the perks, items, and add-ons. It's all there.

Yeah, that Google search would probably put you on a list...

The answer is yes, you do need to clean it. However, as long as you're not butchering to FDA standards a quick rev would get most of the gunk out (if a bit messily). And let's face it... If you're butchering with a chainsaw, the FDA is probably not a concern.
  • Facecamping doesn't exist anymore, the killer can't block the unhook prompt. By the devs' own words, camping is a valid strategy. It can be a stupid strategy, but it's dev approved. They're not going to stun a killer for doing something they themselves do.

Don't get caught. If you do get caught and camped, stay on the hook the full 2 minutes. Make him waste two minutes while your team does gens. If your teammate is being camped, DO GENS. If a killer camps for 2 minutes, at LEAST 3 gens should be done during that time.

Punishing the killer for camping is ENTIRELY in the survivor's hands. When camping killers start getting a guaranteed max of 1 kill and a depip, camping will mostly die off. As it stands right now, a camping killer can be fed four kills by survivors who hover around the hook not doing gens for 2 minutes.

Increase your chance to jump off the hook if the killer is right there? Good strategy... for getting re-hooked immediately.
  • Camping totems? Seriously? That's almost as silly as complaining about a killer camping gens.
  • Its decent if the survivors have Dead Hard, Lithe, or Balanced Landing.
This. It can also counter those who use the exhaustion meter to activate their sprint burst mid-chase.

Hag is pretty versatile, and a lot of perks/builds are excellent on her - no need to run Ruin / NOED at all! In fact, the most effective builds are not especially the ones expected. Even Agitation is extremely powerful on her.

After the update, I will run M&A / Knock Out / Hex: Haunted Ground / Hex: Devour Hope ; I don't think that's your casual rank 1 Hag build ^^

M&A is the corner stone on any hag build due to her tr. Devour hope is surprisingly common. Knock out is not very effective around  swf groups. Espicially hag of all killers needs ruin. Your trap setting means your map pressure early on is non-existent as your laying traps. Typically devour hope may get smashed while running ruin but its a risk you have to take as games wil end extremly fast without it.

Remember these meta builds exist for a reason. Which is because survivours at the top will rarely ever experiment outside of an exhaustion perk, self care,  iron will/urban evasion and ds. Keep a running tally of what survivours are running if you don't believe me.

Hag is a strong killer with a good variety of add ons that for a long time were unuseable due to massive downsides. Freddy for example should never use class photo as dream transition is increased. That along with other addons like red paint brush shich lowers your ms which again is to much of a downside to work effectively.

The point im making is fin builds are not always available to every killer because usually the addons downside is too huge to be played in upper ranks. Which is a shame as i wouldnt mind seeing a few judith tombstone myers considering how dramtically it changes the game.
First, Soren is one of the better Hag players out there. Check out his YouTube channel, he knows what he's doing.

For the most part, the current Hag metas from the Discord do not include Ruin. IMO, Sloppy Butcher is a better slowdown perk than Ruin.

I constantly see killer streamers say "Oh, you have to have Ruin in every build" and then complain when Ruin gets cleansed in 30 seconds. It the perk is gone in 30 seconds, it didn't help you. Also, I constantly see survivor streamers reading chat and hitting Ruin skill checks with barely a glance at the game.

Nowadays slaughterhouses typically use a non-penetrative captive bolt pistol, but in the past a hammer to the head was used.

No power Myers is strong though, in a way :)

This, as well as trying perkless killers.

Also try meme builds. Say a Myers scratched mirror game where you try to only get generator grabs, or an insidious Doctor where you try to sneak up on survivors and pretend to be an illusion. Maybe a Freddy who tries to make survivors hide from the lullaby but never uses his power, or maybe he brings them into the dream world and then hides from them.

There are plenty of ways to screw with survivors while still getting a depip.

Aha, can you please elaborate how a cosmetics stop being added prevents the game from dieing? Enlight me please

Cosmetic shop = money for studio
Money for studio = pay devs to update game
Update game = players spend more money
Players spend more = money for studio
Money for studio = pay devs to update game
    Etc, etc, etc

Basic economics. The Game will continue as long as it generates profits for the studio, and the studio will continue to update the game as long as they see those profits coming in.
