Counterpoint: during peak hours the MMR system doesn't have to stretch the boundaries as wide, indicating it should be more accurate due to more players and less strictness.
I actually did briefly mention that in the OP. Stated that theres a bigger pool and youd be matched better.
I'm not saying peak time will always be easier, I'm saying it will better averaged instead of an extreme case.
So if people feel they're being miss matched etc. Due to backfill the peak time would help.
But also because of backfill you will likely get a range of skilled players not all mega strong or mega weak.
-
@ScottJund said:
This is a theoretical possibility to explain such variance in skill but I think its really just Occam's Razor in the sense its as simple as "The system is just bad."
I also like how people are both saying earlier is easier and harder in the same thread. Its more proof this is just pure anecdote and no one really knows at all.
Alot of things can factor how a match will go, you can have the same map, killer & survivors, same perks etc. But the rng be completely different.
Since there are so many variables you obviously cant be certain. And I think the reason for the good/bad games at any time is quite simply due to good players dont only play at x time.
But like most experiments a small sample size can often be classed as void/anomalies. But in a bigger pool you will have a wider range of players in there so those "extra hard" games may not appear as often. Doesnt mean you cant have the hardest game of your life at peak hours.
-
@Aurelle said:
I mean, yeah. During the day I get average/great players and during the night either get really good players or people who play like they are new to the game.
I usually play this game around 2-3 AM, so you can probably guess what type of players I get matched with.
Cant say I play at that time since mmr was introduced maybe back when the game was new many years ago lol.
I fear for your lobby times, mine take ages
-
If you dont know the grade and mmr separate you arent high mmr.
But dont worry you will climb higher and enjoy the game less lol

I'm working usually super early in the morning to have my afternoon free. 2 PM-9 PM CET is the time I play. I didn't notice anything special about the players I'm matched with/against...
You're already playing peak time then, this does not mean you wont have hard or easy games as either time. It simply means your games would be more average due to mass amount of players
Edit: just saying more casuals, from kids to hard workers would be on then. It's never gonna be night and day but for me it certainly is better, even if it's just by a small margin. And faster lobbies are always nice anyway

What's peak time for EU? I mean, if you're from EU.
Depends how strict you wish to be.
2-9pm is a good start or if you wish to be more strict go 4pm onwards, this time is when most schools would be finished and some players return from work.
Should be the same for any region as I dont believe any region has more night shift workers.
Do note these suggestions are week days mon-Friday:)

This user doesn't seem to want anything for the survivor side of the game, period, based on their posts I've seen throughout the forum.
That said, I appreciate your logical, unbiased approach to countering them. Very good opinions to read in a thread, honestly.
Who me? Because I want alot for the survivors side I just keep my post to 1 subject

Sadly some people will never do gens, they still get rewarded thanks to this SBMM.
Iv versed the same killer twice but with 2 different solo Q teams. 1 game he destroyed us (10hooks 4k) I was the only one doing gens and the next time the killer got 3 hooks in total and 1 at 3gens left, 1 at 1 gen left, then he got 1 more in EGC but we all escaped after.
People always forget how fast gens can actually go until they end up on a team that does them.

I dont mind him either, but there are a lot of people who seem to dislike him. The point is that things shouldnt be removed, just reworked.
From my experience as playing him and versing him with other players people tend to hate him due to his insta downs and punishing nature due to miss plays.
If you farm a hook, or run into the open he will punish you for it. Basically it's why hes called a noob stomper.
I did say in the OP the change aspect as well as in other comments how I just want the distance gone and that's the issue.

Nah just the ######### that a large number of people on one side or the other ######### despise like I'd be fine with the removal or complete reworking of NOED too, if it's not fun to go against why is it in the game
People dont see it that way, people assume because you're one sided off one comment.
I personally want to discourage camping and tunneling alot, sadly till the games balance is a bit better it's on the back burner atm. I dont blame killers doing when I know they BS they have to deal with
-
@CashelP14 said:
I personally believe once Dead Hard is nerfed the killers will start to give hate to Sprint Burst and Overcome.
I would like dead hard to give "permanent exhaustion" after it's used. Make it a 1 time use per game. I just don't think you can nerf the perk in any other way without completely killing it.
Just the distance, you can still use the immunity to avoid ranged attacks so huntress, DeathS, Pyramid, Pinhead, trickster, artist. And then you can use it on trapper traps, blights if done towards them and even nurse as she will enter fatigue after you dodge the swing.
But let's say it kills DH (which it wont) you said 2 perks would replace it, that's already than 1 perk better than all.
Overcome requires you to be healthy, meaning if they want use from it they have to heal (waste some time)
SB, you can bait it out and doesnt help at loops. You can 99 sure but you cant do gens while 99 so efficiency isnt as good.
Other perks have requirements or drawbacks, DH doesnt really have that. Removing distance would make it more situational and in line with others imo
-
"It's just so the game looks better"
"Its not for the obvious advantages that break mindgames and gameplay"
-
@YukiShiori21 said:
DH provides distance and invinsible and mistake correction, and that's a huge problem on the risk/ reward aspect. No other exsaution perks can do this much. SB and Lithe can mostly provides distance, but DH is way too powerful to do more. The most efficent way to use this is hold it after a few loop and rotate, use it right before being close to another pallet and activate it to avoid damage and get some distance and drop the pallet and maybe stun the killer. One perk can do these much is defintely broken. And all the above already happened before the validation, so the problems go big.
My suggestion: get rid of either the invinciblity or the distance. Remove the perk seems a little aggressive, but some tunes are really needed.
Distance, that's what makes it so strong. I think timing to avoid a hit is fine even if it's a ranged hit. But pressing a button when outplayed to correct it doesnt seem fair and is a huge issue imo.
DH distance is often extending most chases, even if we say only 50% are done right that's still 6 DH minimum that worked (1 DH per hook state, 3x4=12, 12÷2=6) 6 extended chases where it would of been a down, hell you can say only 25% work that's still 3 times you have outplayed someone and had your down taken away due to press X button. Extended chases can easily range from 15seconds+
I know iv used DH and lasted an insane amount of extra time due to the distance it gave me, some have lead into 60+seconds chases

Look - Im in solo q and I'm still not good.
I need my crutch because because in solo q you will be hooked once because ur team ain't ever unhooking you.
I play solo Q too, and sure some games you get put with people you think are brand new with no idea but I get alot of games where the killer barely gets any hooks.
Press X button to correct a mistake or being outplayed ain't much fun or fair, imagine if you outplay a killer and he can press X button for a free down... same thing just different sides
@Gwinty said:
Well yes, however please also talk about the next step: Encouraging survivors to loop Killers in a different way and not just hold shift+w to escape them. DH is an issue a crutch but you know which flaw it covers and as such you need to think one step ahead when demanding a removal: You need to think about how to remove the core issue here.
SB takes more to setup though, the basically cant 99 it and do gens. They also run the risk of trying to run as far as possible to waste time but end up in a dead zone.
99 SB takes more skill, co-ordination and just wastes their time to get it setup unlike DH. If 99 SB was so good and easy youd see that, but I can assure you while there will be a few that can do it well most matches it won't be 4 players and not everyone will be able to do it so easily especially efficiently
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
DH does require you to be in the proper position to use it.
Why would you ever use it in the middle of nothing or against a wall?
I get you don't like the perk, but you are incorrect with that portion.
Actually I said DH requires no setup and can be used at any loop. You cant use any exhaustion except SB in the open. The issue is they can use it at any loop to correct a miss play, and they use it for the distance never to dodge.
@BrokenSouI said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/302734/removing-dh-would-actually-improve-the-game
I hate dead hard as much as anyone. I don't agree with removing it however. What they need to do is fix maps so they're not heavily favored towards the survivor side. Ask yourself this. Would dead hard for distance be a problem if it was to a window/pallet that wasn't super strong ? Not really. Would dead harding a mistake after falling for a mind game be a problem if maps werent super strong ? Not really
Well they would never remove a perk like I said and it's the actual distance thing that's the unfair and unfun part.
It seems kinda stupid to me that if a killer mindgames and outplays the survivor they can just press a button to make it to X pallet. Its basically 0 counter and we nerf killers so survivors have gameplay. Imagine out playing a killer and they press a button for a free down, youd be outraged.
While some loops are stupid (god pallets) some are fine and just need a small adjustment, for example changing every jungle gym to the size of the one on goddeon would be a great improvement

@Entity_Lich94 said:
Normally I don't agree with someone saying for a perk to be removed. But in this case for dead hard, I would be more than happy if they got rid of this horrible thing. It's feels more broken than old DS with hit validation adding to its frustration
I just want the distance removed tbh. I dont care if they time a DH to dodge a ranged attack but it shouldn't be used on every loop to correct a mistake or when I outplay you to just counter it by a perk.
-
Yeah I stopped playing for a month, came back and within 5 games 2 hackers and I haven't played in another 20odd days.
Kinda stupid tbh. I use to play this game daily since its release and ever since crossplay and mmr iv been playing less and less.
-
There is a hack.
But you can also react to lunges.
If it's a base swing with no lunge the killer usually walks up behind waits 2 seconds then swings.
So cheats, reaction and likely guesses are all factors. I just hate how it's used for distance and I see it 3+times a match

No.
People can just remember who's dead on hook or what hook states they are at. And if someone wants to tunnel and camp they will, and in the current state that playstyle is more beneficial even if the less fun.
All hiding the numbers does is split the difference between killers and survivors more.
Instead of survivors having to remember to play better/smarter they gave them a visual clue. Prime example of holding the survivors hands when it wasnt needed, this just helps people be more lazy for one side while forgetting the other.
-
Wait the killers can still move and run perks?
Do you know how annoying it is to verse a killer using perks especially perks like corrupt which stops us working on 4 separate gens at game start
-
Dont bother? Hes pretty garbage for how had he is to master, even if you manage to hit every chain you often wont get a hit, clown is easier and gets the same effect.
However if you wish to play him getting chain hunt to start is important! It's so very hard to keep it active now due to nerfs but hoarder and Franklin's is good mixed with the meta nerfed solve box addons.
-
Removing DH would improve the game balance wise and make it more fun and interesting in most games.

It's okay, I know I play at high mmr and if you're unsure you may not be as high therefore the perk may be more impactful to the people you verse. If more perks could at least be to that level the game would be better imo. Do like some of your other changes though, dont think they're enough to make me play killer more though sadly

Tinkerer is so broken on Nurse, Blight, Freddy and other mobility killers. This perk need to touch. I disagree with you, friend.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2709495#Comment_2709495
Bloodwarden is dead perk because of 99% meta. This perk will counter this strategy. Survivors can open gates early for counter BW. For make it fair, BW can make EGC 60 seconds longer. So EGC time will not change but killer will buy 60 seconds more.
NOED is one of the unfair perks (I am talking for killer perks, survivors also have some unhealthy perks) and NOED need some changes. Why this change will not be good? And how you would change it?
Coup de Grâce is good idea but 5 tokens are nothing. I just wanted make this perk more valuable. Numbers can change but i would make this perk like STBFL.
Not really, you can see them coming and when you know they have it the perk is no longer a surprise.
Also requires ruin to be good, I guess we're at different levels of mmr hence the different opinion. I dont even see it much anymore except on blight with ruin and undying which was my last game and he didnt get a kill.
I do want loads of perks buffed to change the meta, but nerfing okay or good perks isnt the way
-
Tinkerer dont need a nerf.
A killer cant stop every gen so if you work on separate gens it dont matter, it also requires ruin to even be a good perk to even begin with. Tinkerer on it's own isnt strong and shouldn't be nerfed.
Other than that I'm happy with any buffs nowadays
-
I stopped playing when they put the pinhead and deathslinger nerfs through.
The games rough as it is but the fact the devs are determined to ruin every killer for newer players just put me off interest wise.
Only load the forums up one a week to see if they have made any fair changes

NOED, INSIDIOUS, Third seal.

DH, UB, COH

Nah, i would prefer her to be a killer that puts pressure thanks to more map presence (teleporting) rather then fast chases.
We have killers that chase well. We don't need anymore in that slot. That other playstyles aren't as effective really isn't that important.
Not every killer can be top tier. And a fun but low tier killer can still be liked by all.
Every killer should be viable. Freddy can teleport and hes very weak, yet another killer I haven't seen in a month + tbh dont think iv seen a freddy since mmr was introduced. He just cant compete. I'll say it again unless maps and loops are changed killers that are basic M1 will always struggle

@danielmaster87 said:
I've been on the Corrupt/Deadlock "milk bottle" I guess you could say for too long. Because what happens when I don't have those perks? The gens fly. Survivors spawn on gens, they do them, and by that time I've got 1 down max. So I'm basically starting the game at 2 gens. "But don't nerf gen speed! Survivors can't handle that! This is definitely a real statement!" Try playing above ash grade. You'll see what I mean with the gen speed.
At this point, survivors don't even need meta perks. They could bring 1 or 2, the essentials like BT. But against 80% of killers, it's easy as pie from start to finish. They aren't at threat of dying in the slightest, save for them screwing up or going against very specific killers. If they can't loop the killer for more than 20 seconds, that's fine. The gens will get done as soon as the game begins anyway, so they can afford to get downed like there's no tomorrow. 80 seconds: That's all it takes to get 2-3 gens done.
And Corrupt wasn't even enough slowdown, I kid you not. Killers are still humoring gen defence as a viable strategy against top level, but it just doesn't mean anything. You use hexes, they go down. You use Scourge hooks, you waste time walking to specific ones. You use Pop or Surge, your regression is undone in literally 10 seconds. So we started using Deadlock, because it's like Corrupt but for midgame. Now No Way Out is popular to run alongside them, because with that perk we actually get rewarded for hooking everyone, and the game isn't instantly decided once all the gens are done.
There's zero point in defending gens or trying to end chases quickly, because the gens fly no matter what. All there is is what I've just described: gen delay. Not regression, not "defence". Delay. It's the only viable strategy for killers, and when it's gone we're gone.
Corrupt will always be needed. But a better default regression and default regression on kick would go a long way to balance

So you'd rather have a strong boring and unoriginal killer than a weaker killer with an original fun power? Legit curious
Fun means I have gameplay, being a basic attack killer at my games isnt fun because most loops dont have gameplay. Sure if I versed bad or casuals it could be fun but I dont so no I cannot have fun with a bad killer. I just get taunted and BM because they have safe pallets and loops while I have 0 gameplay or choice.
@Marigoria said:

Revealing Ghostface half of the time doesn't work.
It doesn't have to be a m1 killer to be anti loop. Billy isn't a m1 killer and isn't anti loop per example.
Billy isnt good though, once again not a killer you can really use at a high level where people do gens, you spend so long getting the perfect curve you have wasted alot of time. All of this is due to bad loop design, but I assume we're at different levels of play because you dont see nurse as anti loop and think billy is a good example which btw I haven't seen a billy in months.
Like i said in the OP, if the maps and tiles was made more fair (isnt that hard) alot of killers would be more fun. I massively enjoyed all killers before mmr, now not so much when we balance for a lower level of 2man escape. I cant even play how I wish and be rewarded
-
@Phasmamain said:
Honestly the killer could be F tier for all I care so long as their power thematically fits and is fun to use
Nah not for me, I dont enjoy being a joke and getting BM all match because I cant do anything. Legion on the game at high level taught me that.
-
Me too bud, every killer and build is becoming so similar but I honestly cant blame it till the base game is looked at. Tbh alot of the changes are pretty simple just requires work and testing
-
And these comments prove my point....
Guys and gals grades have nothing to do with skill, the players you verse or your rank. Nothing at all.
You could have an iri 1 who has no idea how to loop or even hit skillchecks consistently or you can have an ash 4 which can loop like mad and hits greats every time.
THIS is why BHVR needs to have a text next to the grade and maybe in the endgame screen.
-
Grades mean nothing.
An ash 4 can be a better player than an iri 1. Grades just shows how much they may of played that month and still doesnt do a great job of that.
Please remember grades and MMR are separate.
-
Basically bubba is a noob stomper, most people that hate bubba cant loop or play efficiently... or farm hooks.
I like versing bubba though, tbf I like versing all killers but bubba is higher up 9n the killers I like to verse

To be fair I never mentioned dead hard.
I know you didnt but you was on about meta, and well I see 4 DH nearly every single killer game so its definitely meta which is why I mentioned it.
It was an example of a strong meta perk that doesn't need to be used every game but still is, unlike DS which if not used has the potential to make you tunneled out within a min of the match. Like I tried to explain (probably badly) some perks are needed to ensure a fun/fair match like DS, Corrupt etc. But other perks like DH arent needed, people just use it because it's a very strong and imo unhealthy but that's a different discussion
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
Yes, we know that it's boring. But there's a reason- the perks are meta because they cover up fundamental flaws in game design in a lot of cases.
There's a reason DS is so common- the second it's unequipped we're tunneled out of the game. There's a reason BT is so common- the second it's taken off we get facecamped.
There's also a reason why Corrupt is so common, or PGTW, or Ruin and Undying- because when they're taken off, the game suddenly decides to pair you with the best of the best known to mankind and- oh would you look at that, all gens are gone in 3 minutes who'd have thought.
The meta perks make the game longer for both sides, which is why they're meta- they're the best because they give the most amount of time actually inside of the game.
It's just frustrating, feeling so shoehorned into using the same perks every single game. I'd love to experiment with builds but I'm pushed into using the exact same ######### to stand a chance because wouldn't you have guessed it, the matchmaking doesn't let you use anything else because it doesn't work and one game you're facing sub-20 hour players, the next a 10k hour tournament squad
I get DS, and I 100% support that, hell I'd even say make it base and work off every hook but the game just isnt balanced enough for that. DS is the only needed perk for survivor though, they dont all need DH they could use lithe etc. But DH is better, easier and can be used at any loop to fix mistakes. They're meta because they make it easier with little effort.
Killer however. Well alots seems needed the higher level you go. I'd say something like corrupt is needed and sone other form of regression. I was sooo excited about that early game change but we didnt get it because casuals dont really do gens anyway and that's the balance point...
It's all a shame tbh, could easily buff the weaker perks to be useful tbh but honestly I dont think they can be bothered to make then useful. Why buff others when you can make new ones to sell....
I'd say killer has this worse, even more so due to the 4v1
-
You have to hide names...
And yeah if been playing 5years and apparently my team dont even know what a gen is...
Old ranking was better imo

If you want to make sure you get it put on distressing and double cool downs, every time you shock go center on midwhich

It's because they're too busy finding totems to bless so the game drags out like 10 minutes longer because someone wants to waste over a minute to find and bless a totem to have the perk self care equipped, or because for some reason they find it fun to hide the whole game and not do anything, whenever I don't have a squad I just play killer because at least that way I'm responsible for myself and I can't lose because of someone else's mistakes solo survivor is too frustrating these days you'd think by 5 years into the game people would understand how fast gens go if you just separate and do them
Its honestly ridiculous at this point, I dont mind someone doing a boon but the fact that's all they do, place a boon, move on place a boon. Or they just hide for altruism saves, I'll be working on a gen injured and they just tbag next to me for the whole time...
And now the event... my whole team is just jumping into snowmen at game start walking towards the killer...
Like this isnt fun for me... fact I do like a 3min chase most games and not one gen pops is stupid.
I have no idea what goes through people's heads nowadays, why play a game you arent going to do the main objective in or actually play

They’ve never said they balance around that
The games balance shows we do... and the fact I'm forced to do long chases and most of the gens for it to be close just proves it. If everyone played like me the killer loses.
And god forbid you go play killer without corrupt so every survivor spawns on a gen and you physically cant stop.
You dont even have to loop well if you do gens.
