I don't really think hexes are an appropriate comparison to exhaustion. Hexes are extremely vulnerable especially right now during the Boon meta.
Anyways, at OP: if you disable DH everyone will just use Sprint Burst or Balanced Landing + map offerings. Disabling Exhaustion perks in general wouldn't be a good idea either because that's a bit unfair. If you're going to do that then what would you disable on the killers side?
The point isnt to really disable things from both sides so nothing on killer, I know that will seem very one sided to some people but if we limited what we disable to 1 thing then we see the individual impact of not having that one thing and therefore better results.
As fordisabling all exhaustion perks I domt want that, just DH. Like I explained before to some others and in the original post DH doesnt require a setup or a certain situation like a vault or drop, I know you can 99 SB for example but that also requires more planning and thought.
Biggest issue with DH is the fact they can use it at any loop or tile to make that distance they normally wouldn't or to correct a mistake and fix it and that's why it's more of a issue or just more trouble some

You mean those Killrates where Killers claim that they dont matter if they are presented with Killrates over 60%?
Those kill rates are all play levels though, I'd be able to tell the difference in how my matches go personally and that's what I'm curious about. It would also be shown in all the stats still anyway but let's be honest alot of weaker survivors arent using DH to begin with
@Mooks said:
Turning perks or killers off won’t result in new data though since there are still currently PLENTY of matches where there is no DH or any other perk used etc. Even if people claim they see it in over 90% of their matches, it’s just a personal small sample size and there are still enough matches over time where you can collect data without the perk in use
it was different for Bloodlust since it is literally forced in every single match.
It would for me, like I said I see 3+ DH every game... even if I play survivor and I dont use it personally it's still 2+ every game.
So yes its make a huge difference to me personally and a small difference to others that dont see it as much. Like I said I want to see the difference when survivors dont have that mistake fixer, I explained it in the OP

Nurse is counter by dead hard but she beat all the other exaustion perk that probably why
I mean if she lands on you with her first blink it's just a guess to DH or she can just catch you with the second blink, can easily use lithe to get out of range, mix it with quick and quiet etc and you might escape for good.
I do get what you're saying though, but once again that falls into my point of DH being easier and safer to use anywhere

@Blueberry said:
Turn off all Exhaustion perks for a weekend to see the results. We would see a significant increase in kill rates. Exhaustion perks carry a lot, it's a literal 3rd health state every 40 seconds.
Well honestly I just want DH disabled first to see how much that one impacts the matches first, I feel this is the most trouble some as it can fix a mistake at a loop unlike the others which have to be setup or used in a more strategic way
-
@legacycolt said:
Ok but let’s turn off Nurse in that weekend too ok?
I mean I wouldn't care as I dont enjoy nurse personally as she plays so different to the others. But any reason why? You dont need DH to beat a nurse, any exhaustion perk is great against her

MMR starts you at an average MMR, and it'll take a few matches to calibrate. Stick with it, it really does get better.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2661640#Comment_2661640
To be fair, in your case 2 of those 3 games had nothing to do with MMR.
I totally agree that killers need proper unique MMR. Pegging a totally new killer you've never played before to the MMR of your best killer is ridiculous.
Oh yeah I get that but what I mean is at high level it just cant be fun at times let alone taking a break ontop of that.
Skilled players dont need mega safe loops to do well so when good survivors get that is a very boring game with very little actual gameplay from a killers perspective especially if you're a basic attack killer
-
Depends on where your skill was before, high mmr sucks especially for weaker killers so any time away and not practicing etc. Will just increase that.
I took a break for 20days and played my first few games today, first game was hackers, next meta swf and the next dcs so I just turn it off again lol.
If you're at a lower more casual killer level it might be okay?
-
If I can win without needing to use any pallets then yes, it's an issue.
Fact is some people are lucky and dont get mega sweaty groups, but theres alot of rng involved in maps and tiles which can change what could be a okay game to an unfair one.
I still dont get why people scoff at balancing a 4v1 it's not hard... the one is stronger, but that's not the case for most killers. Usually the survivor has to mess up, sometimes multiple times before they get downed.

That's a stretch. BHVR very clearly don't just base their balancing decisions on kill rates, or Nurse would be buffed tremendously. At worst they look at how a killer performs in lower MMR brackets and nerfs them if they're a little too strong there, but those nerfs tend to be kind of minor, like Wraith's post-uncloak lunge or Pinhead's addons getting minor nerfs.
If they based balancing on just kill rates, that would be wrong. If they based balancing on just kills and individual hooks, that would be wrong. No one stat is going to be that important, you need all of them.
But yeah I'd like to see more, personally. It'd be interesting.
If you think all those nerfs was needed then we are on a completely different level of play. But balancing for the low point is a god awful idea, I see about 4/5 different killers if I'm lucky and they all run the same stuff. The others are too weak, like I get it newer players want fun but so does everyone else... it's not like those new players make dozens of mistakes or lack the knowledge of how to run all the tiles etc. In the first place, it's just annoying as both survivor and killer at the high mmr, its stale and not really fun. The only pinhead I see is iri fang, they're still lucky to get a kill. Now I will never see him if all his addons got nerfed
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2661260#Comment_2661260
Eh, not really. Balancing around kills makes sense, that's the objective and the win condition. Still, being able to form a more precise view of exactly how trials go en masse would be very useful.
There's just no special emphasis on individual hook actions. You'd need to know that alongside kill rates, average chase length, what perks and items and addons are being used, what map each game is played on, successful hits versus whiffs, power use versus M1 damage, and so on and so forth. Hooks aren't special, they're just one part of what goes into measuring how a trial went.
Yeah but we always get kill stats, and if a killer gets 2.5+ they get nerfed in some way. It's why I said I'd like to see individual hooks as it shows more than just kills alone. Like I always say 2 kills can be 2-10hooks, that's a big difference.
@Jago said:
Imagine hoping for Bhvr to share stats.
I mean they do just not useful or meaningful ones lol
-
@jesterkind said:
That information is about as useful as kill rates, to be fair. The killer doesn't always get to do as many individual hooks as they'd like, if survivors try to kobe and fail, or aren't saved in time to prevent second hook stage, or stubbornly suicide on hook...
It obviously can't be used as a balancing point, but it also wouldn't hurt to know that alongside other important bits of information- a picture can't be formed without as much information as possible, after all.
Ah but your reasoning behind not using it as a balancing point is because of survivors do terrible plays or giving up, which while would affect the stats shouldn't even have to be a worry in the first place.
Would be a better balance point than kills and a more fun one too. More hooks means more chases, downs, outplays etc. Which shows more skill within the trial itself.
But I'd honestly love to know, like sure show stats like kills etc. With it but I seriously wanna know at which point do all the killers start getting less hooks even if they achieve the same kills if that makes sense
-
The ability to actually hook survivors lots within a trial. Especially on survivor sided maps.
Thatd be a nice power....
-
I just want multiple hooks and chases :/ it's all I want.... not allowed it at my level of play though. Im even forced into the perks I have to use to try balance the game.
-
Same hacker got in my lobby, same name and is trying to hide it. Like dude you escaped the trial while on my shoulder at 4 gens...
-
Nope, only S tier is nurse.
Fang injures sure but injures dont mean anything especially against good survivors. Look at legion

....And I find that it is not nearly as bad as people make it out to be - Approx 60% Escape Rate
I never get facecamped multiple games in a row, have 10+ game losing streaks, get bodied by NOED, etc.
Certain challenges (mainly Glyph + Escape and Survive + have X people Escape) can lead to ME throwing the game to try and get them, but most of the time I lose, it's my own fault.
I honestly feel like the constant exaggeration of certain issues makes it way harder for the devs to implement actual/meanwhile fixes.
Current Builds for anyone interested...I hardly ever bring items
WOO/Dead Hard/SC/BK
SW/WMI/Lithe/WGLF
QQ/HO/Detective's Hunch/Inner Strength
I mean that's why so many things are nerfed and made awful. Look at the game map, was apparently killer sided so look at that fix... god pallets... everywhere!
But I do solo most, it's not that bad. I legit had a day and got 19escapes in a row. I used DS, WGLF, random, random (DH if games are rough that day)
I stopped playing though, from hackers, BM and just the lack of fun I can have as killer some days is off putting. I cant just play survivor either as its boring only seeing the few viable killers. I'll keep playing halo till new things or better balance happens

No, I just started and I'm learning all the weaponry myself if you know any good streamers drop some names. I study this game like I used to watch Dowsey play DBD back when Oni was released.
I never watch streamers, always figure stuff out myself as I'm usually always good at games. Think I'm onyx in ranked atm, but if you're new its probably helpful (if you didnt know) body shots do the same damage as headshots when the shield is up (this is with weapons like pistol, AR, BR etc) this means easier aiming then finish with the headshot. (Repluser is a push ability... getting a splatter seems odd lol)
@GoshJosh said:
Didn’t know Halo became an asymmetrical 1 v 4 since I last played!

I did also say completely different games.... but I haven't got 1 BM or put at a disadvantage due to imbalances. It's nice to game, be rewarded for skill and not get BM every game lol

Btw, do you know how to get a repulser splatter?
-
No.
But remind me why we gave him a huge terror radius.... pretty sure this killer barely had a 2k average and they nerfed every aspect of his design.
-
Because hes easy and takes no skill.
You know the same argument used every time they say a killer is OP. Iv had people rage quit my doctor and send hate when I haven't even used my power on them, was a streamer too and I was told even if I used my power he would DC so his chat didnt have to watch something boring...
Totally not because the survivors are bad and get outplayed though

Nope. I’m getting bored as well. My sessions aren't as nearly as long as they used to be. When I think about it though- SBMM and knowing what constitutes as a win killed this game for me. I had more fun as a Red Rank 4, martyring for my team to escape with 26,000 BP and Pipping. I miss those days.
Yeah the win stuff sucks, times iv done so well as survivor and be left to die on first hook and I'm told I'm bad lol.
Biggest killer for me is that 2K 2E. Since we're really forcing that I cant play as chill or get as many hooks, I dont care about kills but the fact I can be forced into camping and tunneling to try get some control has put me off the most.
I enjoyed chases and HOOKS! Nowadays I cant go for multiple chases and still get alot of hooks

STOP. Seriously, this discussion has nothing to do with keyboards so stop arguing with each other
-
(Xbox) I'd wish I could turn mine off without being hit with stupid long wait times, I already wait awhile even with it on so off Is a nightmare.
Honestly main reason I want to turn mine off is due to all these pc hackers etc. I know it's not every game but I dont want it, I'm also meeting alot of toxic BM in matched from PC players which is another off putting thing along side the advantages of edited settings.
Nothing against anyone on any platform but if I could choose to avoid stretch res, filters, and hackers while reducing BM I would. Sadly games take far to long to do this.
Oh well I'm playing crossplay halo infinite atm, no toxicity or hackers etc. On there only difference is the easier aiming which is a given. Better crossplay experience than DBD, even gears had better crossplay

I have a...love/hate relationship with DbD.
When I'm not playing it, I want to play it.
After playing it for an hour or two, sometimes I want to set fire to the entire internet.
I agree completely about killers. The devs' balance decisions feels off to me at times, frequently nerfs won't be surgical and will instead cripple an already struggling killer (Wraith, Cenobite, Deathslinger) or nerf an entire playstyle (Undying nerf significantly reduced the viability of hexplay).
DCs - oh my. If there was one thing I'd change about Dbd rules wise, it would be to reduce the amount of DCs.
Hacking - yeah. I'm honestly more scared of the subtle ones. It's a very tough issue for a smaller developer to solve though, as even massive Esports frequently struggle to stop hacking. Hacks have become incredibly sophisticated.
That said - I really do enjoy the game, and the better I get at it the more I enjoy it. MMR, when it works properly, has definitely improved my match quality.
Yeah I'm in the same boat as you about it all. Honestly now I'm just taking a break, going to play halo beta.
I love DBD but it dont feel rewarding or interesting nowadays. Such a shame tbh all the liscene content is a dream come true yet I cant get the enjoyment from it especially at the level I play as it gets more bland.
Oh well, I understand why so many have left before me lol I was just stubborn

Oh for sure I understand. I am still old school and do my best to chase someone I see with BBQ. Hell I got stomped the other day running Dark Devotion, Fire Up, BBQ, and Sloppy with hag. I suck with Hag so wouldn't surprise me to lose with meta perks but man was it fun. Just wish stuff like that wasn't handicapping myself. I did 4k the 2nd game with that build though.
Well I give you a thumbs up for using perks like that, cant say iv seen a non meta perk for the past few months. Even I dont run them, mainly because i dont wanna get bullied lol
I'm not a fan of playing hag either, not a fan of the playstyle. Last game I played as her I got 1 hook in 4 gens then slugged for the 4k. I won but didnt feel like I had fun? If that makes sense.
I'd love a game where youd see a range of perks on both sides, just buff them a bunch so every game is more different

You aren't obliged to play dude, Dead By Daylight isn't a hobby - it's a game. All games eventually become boring to the player, some people burn out and leave quickly (my friends barely played a few matches and never touched DBD again), and some people like myself play for hundreds of hours before finally deciding to move on.
Finding the gameplay to be stale? It's time to move on my friend. There are thousands of better games out there, the gaming industry's massive. You'll find something nice.
Yeah but I usually dont get bored, iv played 5 years but recently been a massive decline. Dont get me wrong I always play multiple games but DBD has lost that spark to make me want to even load it up.

Lol, dont even play blight.
Or hear me out, survivors could stop complaining? We're nerfing everything to the point survivor is too easy. But I guess we are balancing for bad player so sure, I stopped caring when they nerfed all pinhead addons but didnt change the range addons. Yes! Nerfing or reworking this add-on will help the skilled Blights stand out from the bad ones, that rely on this ridiculous add-on.
Eh, so what about all the survivor items and perks people rely on...
I get it, killers shouldn't win and should be harder. At some point this game is gonna be real boring, it's why I hardly play. No challenge for survivors nowadays hardly see a range of killers let alone perks so why not make them even weaker
-
Eh sure, we nerf everything for bad players might as well nerf this.
-
This should be in the feedback section especially since you arent discussing stuff but I'd like these.

Granted, the thread also does start with the opening of saying it went from good to bad, which already can be considered feedback.
So any tall to do with ptb gets moved?

Short of starting from square 1 again, it would be really hard to change the balance in a meaningful way.
Power creep is a huge problem right now with perks on both sides and recent perks confirm there are no plans of reducing it. In fact, it's getting worse. Games are often won and lost because either side randomly brought in perks for a situation that came up in the trial.
Tile spawn logic, spacing, orientation, and RNG needs to be torn down and rebuilt. RNG, again, is way too big of a factor. It's a source of frustration, not fun. The window of a long wall jungle gym should never under any circumstances face an adjacent pallet or window. Shack window should never be adjacent to a jungle gym. These things shouldn't still be issues in a game this old. I don't think the devs have a good understanding of high level gameplay. They understand the spreadsheet, but not the reasons behind the numbers.
The rng aspect isnt an issue. Each section of the map is a random tile so they can basically add a new code so this tile spawns X amount in this map, or if 2 of X tile spawn 1 of X title spawns. So it's not really starting from the ground up, but rng does need to be changed for sure. I'd still like the windows on gyms/shack to be more risk reward by making them smaller.
@StarLost said:
A few thoughts from someone happily in the 'intermediate' skill range. Which is the area you sort of forgot, and I'd reckon encapsulates far more players than 'high' skill.
- Map size isn't the problem, in and of itself - outside of some specific killers. It's more a matter of complexity (RPD, Haddonfield), the amount of 100% safe pallets (The Game), the presence of pseudo infinites (Badham, RPD, Haddonfield), the amount of 'freebie' gens (RPD, Haddonfield) and verticality.
- Overly small maps (DDS) tend to be killer favored at most levels, taking Game pallets/interaction with boons out of the equation.
- Shack is fine. It gives you one totally safe pallet, then it's basically done. The problem is pseudo infinites (the office on RPD is the big offender, as is the 'basement' house on Haddonfield and some Badham tiles) and overly prevalent safe pallets.
- The other big problem is killer balance. Right now, killers either need crazily high mobility (Blight, Spirit), excellent traversal (Nurse, Hag, Demo sort of), independent pressure (Pinhead, soon to be nerfed into obscurity) or anti-loop (Artist, Nemesis, PH) to be viable. M1 killers are sort of dead without abusing one or two really strong addons.
- If the infinites and freebie gens were fixed on Haddonfield, RPD and Badham and the safe pallets/nearly map wide boons on The Game were changed, killer balance would feel a lot better. These maps are the big offenders.
TL/DR - your observations aren't wrong, but your fixes need to be a bit more nuanced. I'd say that:
- Fix pseudo infinites by either removing 1 vault from these locations, or adding a gap in the barriers.
- Remove a few doodads near pallets from The Game.
- Move some of the 'freebie' gens on Badham, Haddonfield and RPD to somewhere you can actually pressure.
- Split RPD into two maps. It's just too big for it's level of complexity.
- Lower the 'roofs' on Haddonfield slightly, so that you can't reenter windows from them. This allows 'scouting' behavior, but stops the houses from being so oppressive against some killers.
- Stop boons from projecting their effects through floors (The Game).
- Give CoH a balance pass. It's just too strong in SWFs that build around it. It shouldn't stack with other healing effects so aggresively.
- Revert Pinhead, Wraith and Deathslinger nerfs, or compensate these killers elsewhere.
Agree with alot of that, especially those unwarranted killer nerfs who wasnt over performing. But you nail most of it, sadly I cant suggest every change I'd like as well be here all day lol.
I do feel big maps can be an issue, gens are so split causing pressure as a solo killer is painful. As for the tile like killershack, the pallet will still be a god pallet, I just mean shrink the distance from the open door to the window so there more mindgame and less safe, so you can risk the window for longer use etc. Or use that pallet for safety. I'm completely okay with 1 god pallet on every map, just not dozens like the game lol
@Bennett_They1Them said:
maybe something like that for skill checks would make unnerving presence worth running. (something to make skill checks harder based on rank)

Describing asylum there by the sounds of it lol, I hand shack window into a gym into a safe pallet. Safe to say I ran that doc there for 5 gens, without even using a pallet... broken af
-
@vacaman said:
The thing is that as both survivor and killer looping and chasing around jungle gyms, LTs, shack is really fun the better you get at it. The other option is safe pallets everywhere (the Game) wich makes chases very boring and with less skill cap. I agree with the map size though, they should be smaller like Rancid Abattoir, i think it's the perfect map.
Simply shrinking the gyms would still allow all the same potential as before at the high level, just stops the ability to wait at certain spots and be safe by reacting. For example you wait at the corner of the gym and you can make to the window/pallet on reaction making no chance of a mindgame.
Shrinking them gives the killer more opportunities to be tricky or mindgame and stopping that wait here and be safe etc. Obviously at the low level it wont matter, if seen them camp pallets like this even with enough distance to make the window lol

People treat the game as a hardcore, ranked, test of skill, and ragequit when they don't win. Then in the same breath complain about MMR because "it's not a competitive game it's a party game."
When you treat it as the casual party game you all claim it to be, you'll enjoy every map, every killer, even the ones that don't work in your favour.
I'm happy for mmr. I want things to be balanced though so I can have a chance, this map removes that for me. I want all killers to be decent so I can actually verse them and not the small few and I want to play without landing on a map like the game as legion to have no chance as a basic M1 against the mass of safe pallets.
I certainly dont see the game as casual neither do the people I'm versing lol, I see that as an excuse tbh.

Basically play on pc for advantages.
You can try your tv settings but it wont look right. Either way it all makes the game look worse imo.
-
1. At game start and now is the worst, as for the best? Well been playing the game 5 years so hard to pick 1 part
2. The game map, seriously how am I meant to win at high mmr with a basic attack killer... too many safe pallets.
3. It's good, just wish the higher level was kinds looked into. Mainly tile setups and rng.
4. Fun, horror franchise and competitiveness
5. Usually worried, just patches in general start to bug me. I see killers nerfed alot when they arent needed. Means I see less killers and have less viable ones to play.
6. No idea had the game since the start. Play less and less nowadays.
7. No. It's an awful lot to grind, no real tutorial, I cant play with a new player as they will get screwed by my high mmr. Game isnt new killer friendly.
8. Most toxic, only game I can play and get a hate message if not multiple per match. This is more from salty survivors, but the fact theres 4 players and I get a message compared to 4-30 on other games and I dont

You said I lost against a pig in your first comment... clearly didnt read. So yes I can say that to you because it had nothing to do with that at all.
And yes the removal of a completely unbalanced map is fine by me. I would not miss it at all, I do not play the game to be given a map I have to lose (by a large margin) because I verse people who can actually play and as a basic attack killer have no say in the matter.

Let's lose a killer and a map that thousands of people enjoy or have enjoyed because the OP got his butt kicked by a Pig. Let's do it.
Well done for not reading.

It's...fine. It's not the best map, but it's far from being Badham, Haddonfield or RPD. At least there are no frigging infinites or freebie gens.
They need to stop boon totems from working between floors.
Nah rather any of those over the game map, 20+safe pallets is awful and just not fair. At least even with preschool you can avoid certain things or get the pallet gone. The game however is just multiple safe pallets in every direction

I hate that this is something people are asking for. Your basically asking for dbd to become more stale when it comes to map rotation and on top of that your asking for characters to be removed for newer players as well like in what world does that sound like a good idea?
What's stale is never having a chance. They know full well it's full of god pallets and yet keep it. So yeah hope the liscene goes, will get rid of that garbage unbalanced map while I get to keep the characters

Facts, man. No wonder “kill rates are high”… which makes DBD appear killer-sided.
Well a kill would be god damn lucky on that map without camping, even then its be BT body blocks etc.
Honestly I dont get what we're even balancing around, seems to be people that lack even the most basic of knowledge (new players)

It's kind of sad this is becoming a popular thought on the threads. It really shows that, while licenses are initially exciting, the maps that accompany them are bad for the game and players would probably br happier without them. I hope this inspires the devs to make healthier changes where they can.
Well I was sad at losing hawking's even as survivor, it actually had some very good loops and strong positions to be in. Not to mention some weak pallets would create near infinites but bad players never got that.
I just hate this map because they see you at every loop and they're just stupidly strong if not god pallets. So its force to break about 20+pallets

What does this have to do with a killer’s terror radius? Irrelevant point.
These are the people we balance for, no idea what the hell is going on. Apparently a 2 story terror radius is the same as an insane amount of god pallets lol

Still not going to be able to snipe unless the survivors are just sitting on a gen so you can hit them twice. Not likely to happen at all, nice idea though

Honestly basekit Blight without Tinkerer is one of the most fun experiences in the game to face imho (I was using a meme build at the time) so I'd really hope people don't complain about him too much. Alch ring and maybe Blighted Crow I could ask for a tweak to but his actual basekit? Please let that stay.
Oh I have nothing against blight I love versing him no matter the build he has. Do wish they'd fix the sliding though.
I just feel alot of the community hate a challenge, wanted to do a few hours of doctor today but everyone keeps giving up. I'm not even an amazing doc, waste more time in lobbies than iv got to play so far
