Who says we do?
The game. The mass amount of players that still dont do generators.

Good point, I was in the middle of writing one when you posted - sorry I didn't get chance today to get it ready in advance, my bad.
I would of done one for you myself to pin but sadly I'm not able to get on and actually find out everything there is to know.
But it's all good just made a post as I assume its be helpful to most players, thanks mandy!
-
Well remember we have balanced the game for inexperienced survivors to escape so anyone outside of that bracket doesnt matter.
-
Hello! Yeah I dont need to think what mmr I'm at, it's very clear.
As for fun that's not likely at all, 1/20 games if I'm lucky and it's why I haven't touched killer in 20days...
I'm forced into the perks I use just to try have somewhat of a okay game, if I play certain killer or end up on certain maps I have to accept a loss. I'm not allowed to play in the fun way of going after lots of hooks because that ends up in a loss and a bunch of toxic and BM during and after the matches.
When the game isnt balanced for you and you're just not meant to do well and you still get hate and BM for it just isnt fun. Ever.
-
I have versed 1 spirit since the nerf she got 2 hooks.
Now I'm high mmr, the fact shes one of the rarer killers now just shows it was a very impactful nerf.
Survivors didnt want to make a guess/read but that's all spirit can do so it was abit hypocritical nerf tbh

Around hooks maybe? Let's say average amount of hooks should be 8-9 (more than half)
Yes please. I'd take 8 hooks 0kills every match over most of my matches atm. My games dont tend to last long enough for 8 chases usually
-
Play well without the slightest bit of BM towards the killer while also making sure I sandbang toxic teammates that are trying to bully the killer.
I'm old fashioned you see, I believe in treating people with respect even if on opposite sides

My hypothesis:
We know that MMR is based on kills and escapes. So how is it possible that even as you gain MMR as a Survivor, you still have teammates that still seem to not know how to play very well? Well, have you been in a match as survivor where that Claudette urban evasions around the entire map? Hides in a locker as soon as someone is on the hook? Only knows how to sit on gens and self care? These kinds of players will leave the lower ranges of MMR and get into the lower-mid/mid range. They will keep going up until they get exposed once they climb too high. They will face killers who will know all of their hiding places, or run builds that prevent hiding. Since they most likely never put time into learning how to loop, they will die, and drop back down to sabotage their lower and low-mid range teammates once again.
I feel like we see a similar phenomena with Killers who only know how to camp and tunnel. Sure they can "assure a 2K" up to a certain point. Then they will face hyper-efficient teams running all the meta perks -well-. Teams that know how to coordinate, whether they are SWF or not. They'll get looped endlessly, lose MMR, and go back to terrorizing the lower and low-mid range once again.
TLDR; SBMM evaluates efficiency/success, not skill.
Well the thing is I'm having to do 3times the normal amount. Like I had a game where it took a 10min chase for 3 people to do 4gens when in reality that should be a few mins at most.
Or games where i have done 5 gens and still got saves and chases.
It feel like I'm having to hard carry every match just to be in for a chance, I wouldn't say the killers are high level either (hence the longer chases) but why am I being placed with basically newer players or people that cant do the more basic of things? Like if the killer avoided me, they would win every game tbh that's how bad its getting.
I feel like I'm hitting a 70-80% win rate recently
-
Since his nerf... garbage. He wasnt the best anyway especially at high mmr.
If you want to practice and do insane shots with your power to not get much from it buy him.
If you want to win and have less stressful games avoid him.
-
Worst part is the players that dont understand are the devs balancing point.
-
Yes its needed. We should not nerf more killers.
-
Good. Why should pc players get an advantage over console players.
-
I mean they do... if you go for chases against good survivors you lose. Even if they're bad at looping you can still struggle if you play nice

- Unbreakable - Killers want to be able to slug you without you being able to counter it.
- Borrowed Time - Killers want to facecamp you without being able to counter it.
- Decisive Strike - Killers want to tunnel you without you being able to counter it.
I wish Killers realized that survivors aren't using a meta perks because they want to, they are using meta-perks to counter uncounterable tactics killers use. You literally can't do anything about slugging unless you bring a perk. You can't do anything about face-camping without a perk. You can't do anything about tunneling without a perk.
Survivors are using these perks because they have to. Otherwise they'll be sitting on a hook looking at Leatherface revving his chainsaw.
There are 4 survivors, that counters slugging just in itself.
-
You was meant to say "survivor mains be like" haha.
Nah so many people dont even consider how else they can use perks, they take it at face value but lower level I suppose
-
@KajdanKi said:
Why not use meta?
I get slugged everytime when there is one more survivor left.
Facecamp occurs in 75% of the matches.
What do you expect people to use?
There are many good perks that arent meta, all meta is nowadays is second chance perks stacked.
@Fantasy said:
Why would they run the other 90% of useless survivor perks instead?
Not true, far more good perks than 5 for survivor. It's why I said the devs should rebalance it. Its boring AF.
-
@ColonGlock said:
Distressing makes chases harder FYI
Random perk wheel, I have 5 years experience btw. But I'm wraith so distressing didnt do anything, the point is all I see is meta, on every survivor...

I know right, that random perk wheel blessed me today lol

@solidhex said:
I tried it today and in the games where i needed it the most it doesn't active. I had to completely go out of my way and go after that Laurie even though she hasn't been hooked yet and 2 other people were on death hook. They just rushed the last gen injured while i was chasing her.
It's a far better strategy to go after 2-3 survivors and leave one for the end to 1-hook them. Yea i get it is healthy for the game but i feel it has limited use. If the gens get blocked when there are 2 people left and fight for hatch it has not really any value for me.
Wouldn't even say you're winning if it activates either tbh. Iv had it activate alot without really trying and I still lost by alot.
Interesting perk though, perks that encourage me to hook multiple survivors I like. Wish more things became base to promote a better play style tbh but camping and tunneling is the new meta, works more often than playing fair

I am sure if I kept playing in the same way I played during the good ole days then I would get to see plenty of him eventually.
But I really don't want to do that.
Oh no trust me I played relentlessly on his release and you barely see him, I'm honestly not sure what lvl mmr would see him tbh. Hes rare like billy lol

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/298515/whats-the-point-in-pinhead
It's all about the chains, baby!
I use Pinhead quite often and win quite often. (Mind you, I probably have quite the low MMR.) As far as his box goes, as soon as a survivor picks it up, he can teleport to it and get that survivor. Plus, if he finds the box, he can not only start the chain hunt instantly, but also see the auras of the survivors for a few seconds. I don't like what they did with his chain whip (maybe that's just me, but it seems "softened"), and I hardly use add-ons as I'm really bad at using his special. (I'm just not quick enough with the aim and fire)
Ah well I'm quite high in mmr, I'm also a pretty damn good shot too (or I was when I played him alot) could always curve round corners, over rocks etc. Lol.
I'm glad you're having fun with him though, just a shame I'm not able to anymore. But I hardly ever teleprted to the box I always shot chains at a distance to interrupt them and then get the box from them with Franklin's.
He really was my main for awhile, sad to see him go down in potential tbh
-
@GeneralV said:
I..don't know.
Everything about Pinhead is a great mystery to me.
I left the game prior to his release, and on the two separate occasions where I came back for one or two trials with friends I didn't get to see him.
Honestly I loved playing him before, he was a killer I always wanted since I first played DBD lol.
But yeah I hardly ever see him when playing survivor, I did see a few the day before the nerf using his iris before they became useless lol. They still didnt do that well, hes a rough killer for not much reward tbh so I guess that's why. Chains are difficult on controller too 😂
-
Spirit.
Not even tried the new version since the stridor nerf, whenever I play her IW is soooooo common and honestly they just knew where I was. (Tbf I always did her with brown addons so maybe that's why as you cant correct mistakes
-
@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
When I want to play him, I play him for fun.
If I would care about winning my games even with the best perks and decent addons I would not feel like "This is the killer to win" unless you put a lot of hours into him which is probably not worth it for how powerfull are other Killers.
I cant have fun with him at the level I'm at anymore hes too high skill for his actual power, mainly due to all the addon box nerfs which make it so hard to keep the hunts active
@Phasmamain said:
His chains are 100% better than Freddy’s snares but his main strength is the cube but that’s pretty rng based
Maybe just as you dont need to setup but it's far harder to use the chains and yeah getting chain hunt to activate is so hard at the higher level and like you said that's the main strength

yep, I wasn't thinking in that way for some reason. Thanks for the explanation. It was a small map too so very doalbe.
Its alright, I'm sure most people have made that mistake. Gen speeds can be rough anyway but if you're doing basement bubba expect fast gens

I mean most challenges can be done without hurting your team. People just want to rush through the challenges as fast as possible and some are quite long people get impatient
-
Nope. They lost my vote when they said we arent balancing for your level.
Call me old fashioned but I like a game that rewards me for my skill and keeps me in mind when it comes to gameplay and balance lol
-
Because 3 gens can get done in 80 seconds (1.20) then all 3 on the fourth can be done in about 35seconds so in total 4 gens can get done in 1min 55seconds if you dont add travel time.
You went 80+80+80 when that's not how it works, 3×80 can be done all at once

I got my adept the other day for the artist and I'm still in the ash grade.
ASH grade is the easiest to get the adepts maybe your doing something wrong
Nope, just mega high mmr (thanks to the shared mmr) so gen speeds are insane as well as the second chance perks.
Fact is I can load in, shoot 3 crows at the gens miles away and each gen will have someone on. I'm at the point in mmr where no corrupt equals 2 gens gone min.
Like I said I have been downing players so fast iv gotten 10hooks 3k and still not got it because they done gens to fast.
Every game is 4DH, 2+DS and then a mixture of BT, unbreakable, adrenaline or a COH (last 2 perks arent as bad)
Iv never had an issue with adepts before, but now mmr is in the game my 5 years experience means very little when rng and balance isnt on your side. (If only I could use a 4th perk for my adept)
-

Probably because I'm versing nothing but sweaty af people rushing gens as fast as they can.

Well I got 10hooks, 3kills and 1 escape (only hooked the person who escaped once) and I wasnt even close.
Like I said stupid af gen speeds

Wait for the 13th and you can get your adept with like 0 kills

Ranks dont matter, I belong in red too I just havent played much this month. I was rank 1 pre grades
Just tank your MMR for a few matches
Rank means easier pips mate so even if it's the same game a grade 1 will have a harder time than ash 5.
And yeah tanking mmr will likely be the only way. But that's boring and not something I should really be forced to do, especially with my skill and experience.
Knowing my luck I'll keep getting haddonfield lol

BHVR is one of the companies who almost always bring updates at every plattform at once.
Dont make stuff up.
Umm alot of games post updates and do it on time... this isnt the first time there has been an issue with an update.
Remember the time next gen got an update early and couldn't play crossplay... that's one example of many. It's not made up.
-
@Pig_Is_Pog said:
title- haven’t received update yet?
Looks like a new gen issue if you have next gen console.
Typical bhvr cant even get an update to go through on time. Every other damn games manages it though

That's why you give them the main house. Let it be a deadzone. There are 4 walls you can kick out at the start of the game for immediate benefit (Main house second floor by window, Killershack by window, and 1-2 on the row of gens across the street). Breaking these walls at the start and kicking pallets relentlessly turns the entire map into a killing floor. It's generally one of the best killer maps.
Midwhich is another good pick as your hex will be very obscured, generally.
Well it's not that I chase there it's more the fact they all run there, even if nothing is there they will still go there to just run in circles to waste time.
I guess I can set up her power there though so might not be so bad, thanks for your input though I can give it a shot
-
Give her a month. Look at pinhead, a killer which power isnt the easiest to always hit and is questionable as antiloop as it can break so very easily.
He got every addon nerfed. I could let fang go but the others was overkill. So I'll expect the same for her especially if she has some strength
-

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/297201/so-how-do-i-go-about-getting-the-artist-adept
- Proxy Tunnel one survivor to limit their effectiveness and force them to take less risks
- Look for good slug off hook opportunities
- Map Offering should probably be Saloon. Let them do saloon and hanged man platform gens for free to create 1 level, ideal 3 stacks
- Try to do it immediately upon release as survivors will be going for their adapt, giving you more tunneling opportunities
- Queue during peak hours to have more solo queue survivors in your pool
Should be able to bang it out in 2-3 games.
@Bwsted said:
Merciless requirements are tied to rank color. Even if you face good survivors, you will be required to achieve less at low ranks. Therefore, trying after rank resets will give you your highest chance.
Play some trials and get a feel for her power. If you see things aren't going your way, it's better to let go and allow the team to escape.
She has a strong kit and 3 slowdown-ish perk. It shouldn't be too difficult.
So the rank thing is true as it should be easier. But sadly I can only play during offpeak time, I guess I could keep swapping lobbies to try find the new survivor but I'm not sure how long lobbies would be etc.
Usually I dont verse survivors doing adepts even with new chapters, but its definitely a good shout.
And saloon? Really I find that map difficult to stop, they all run to the main building no matter what which wastes a bunch of time and everyone finds the gens really easy and they go pretty fast. Usually the map I get the fastest gens lol.
-
The way today's going, nope.
6games in and I'm the only 1 to do a gen... like what are they doing all game ffs 🤣

@KateDunson said:
Be ready for 99% sprint then
That's fine, that requires being setup like I said. If everyone wants to hold SB for midchase it means they cant be on a gen. It's much harder to 99 SB effectively than it is to just use DH to correct a mistake at any loop.
It's why I'd love this test to be done, see if SB will actually be meta or even as effective, I personally dont think any perk will match DH but I'd like to see.
-
@IlliterateGenocide said:
Turn off all exhaustion AND slowdown for a week
No that's completely ignoring the point of this experiment. We disable 1 thing to see the impact it has.
If you want to disable slowdown thatd be a separate test, the more you disable the less you can see the impact of separate things.
I do find it funny though how you think the 1 perk (DH) is worth the same as every gen defense, DH can give multiple second chases throughout the game while some regression perks fix base game issues.
Examples at my level:
-DH can be used to make distance, this means even if I dont loop as efficient I can make it. If I get mindgamed I could use DH to correct the mistake. DH can be equipped on 4 people, easily used 3times per person.
-corrupt, physically stops me losing multiple gens due to survivors spawned split. Unable to actually stop by default
-ruin, still doesnt regress at the speed a solo can repair, base regression is so bad it's not worth kicking. Also a hex which can be spawned on.
-pop, removes about 20seconds on a solo gen, 11 if duo etc. So some maths that show 3 survivors on separate gens, even if I can chases, down, hook and then get to a gen in 20seconds there is still 2 other gens progressing far more. Chance of every down and hooks being 20seconds, impossible.
Theses arent comparable. While we can test no gen defense, hell I'd be happy to as itd show how needed they actually are. But during that time no one would want to play killer and the kill rates would massively go down but would also increase stuff like NOED being used
-
I kept running into the same hacker so I haven't actually played this event, so your experience has gone better than mine even if you didnt get as much BP as possible.
(Btw I dont queue 5+mins to find a hacker, multiple times in a row. No point in playing versing a hacker so I just came off lol)
-
@Johnny_XMan said:
Yeah and while they are at it...
turn off
Ruin
Undying
Tinkerer
Camping and Tunneling
Because these perks and playstyles are also used to "correct" mistakes and buy more "time".
If we use that logic we can remove all windows and pallets as they buy time.
But no, let's not get silly or ridiculous, both ruin and undying can be spawned on, you can lose both in 30seconds easy and it's not really reliable and doesnt actually fix your mistakes as a killer. Tinkerer is only really good with ruin, when ruin goes it's not that great.
As for camping and tunneling I'd be very happy to remove them as long as we fixed the chase issues such as mega safe loops/pallets to god pallets.
I'd quite happily make stuff like DS basekit but atm the game is no where near balanced enough to allow killers to go for lots of chases like people want to do. No killer wants to lose by a big margin because they dont have the time to do lots of chases, I can assure you tunneling and camping isnt fun. But neither is having no control or choice in how to play, why would people go for lots of chases if they get punished, games over quickly, BM after the match and just told they're bad.
