  • Yea most places won't ban for this. If they really didn't want people doing it then they would have done what LoL did and just deactivate every single skin code in existence.

  • In the current state of the game if a team doesn't get more than 1 gen then they are playing terribly or playing vs Nurse. So in an average game where no one is playing terribly there will almost always be an open hatch. Then it just becomes a ticking clock for the killer to find the survivor before they find the hatch. Once they find the hatch it's up to the survivor how long the game is played out. They said something about letting both the killer and the survivor see each other once everyone else died and enough gens were done. Then, after a certain amount of time the exit gates would just open. I love this idea. Allows the killer to have some time to actually kill the survivor and it becomes a skill check for the survivor. Bad survivors who don't know how to juke/loop/etc won't be able to just free escape.

  • No one is wrong. It's a design flaw and shouldn't happen in the first place. They are working on a way to eliminate the hatch standoff but haven't come up with anything concrete that they are putting in yet. Currently just testing with different ideas.

  • There has only really been 1 official dbd tournanent and it was for all platforms. All the other tournaments you see are put on by mainly streamers and all the big streamers play on pc. So it's unlikely that they will have non official tournaments for console.
  • The only changes that really need to happen for killer are that games need to go on longer in the average game. Palettes/loops/other stuff won't matter nearly as much if the games last longer. Main issue right now is that you can destroy 12 palettes but it won't end up mattering because the games is likely over/almost over by that point. They just need to make destroying/wasting palettes actually matter.

As @Peanits mentionned, nothing has been announced.
But I am curious, what would you like to see in a DbD Halloween event?

I don't really mind what the objective of the Halloween event is. I just want some really cool Halloween themed cosmetics. I feel like most people just care about being able to get some really cool thematic cosmetics during events.

  • No way of knowing. They are waiting for the update to be approved on consoles. They could have put out the update on pc already. When the update comes out is going to depend entirely on when the update gets approved for consoles. It's likely that it will happen Monday/Tuesday but it's not guaranteed.

    Place bets now:

Devs: "Sorry we allowed the community to believe a rumor that we did nothing to dispel, and our own community manager trolled you all instead of trying to manage the situation, we are working really hard to get the chapter out, but we commited to getting it for all platforms at the same time, and we were waiting on certification/bugfixes. We will keep you informed as soon as we have a date, but we also can't commit to date because certain factors are outside of our control."

    OR

Devs: "You guys shouldn't have believed the wiki, if we havn't given a date for the chapter, there is no date for the chapter, just keep playing the game and don't worry about it, it's just a game why do you have to take things so seriously, nerds."

Nah they won't be condescending/passive aggressive in their remarks on stream. Not after the one stream where they literally said for us to "go play another game if we don't like it"

Or Option 3: "We apologize that many of you believed that the DLC was coming out this week. We are unsure where the rumors started, but we never officially announced any details as to a release date. Due to our legal team issuing NDAs we were never able to discuss publically confirmation or denial. All we were able to provide is a response of Soon. We were not trolling you, we just could not honestly state any details under that agreement. We know you are all excited and we know this will happen again in the future. To prevent this we request each and every one of you wait until we officially make a statement. The old quote Assumptions make an Ass out of You and Me rings true here.

What are you talking about? What NDAs? I mean sure not_queen and a few other members couldn't just post stuff. But dbd isn't owned by any outside company and answers to itself. So the higher management could have easily given permission to post/answer questions. And your last sentence is the biggest underlying issues. "...wait until we officially make a statement." That's the problem. They don't officially make statements so we never have any idea about when things come out. The rumors wouldn't have even been a thing/a problem if they normally announced release dates. If they did that then we all would have just waited for a release date announcement.

    Hello,

Why is it a stream today? The list says it will be a video. I think streams are better. But is it possible that today New Content is because of Stream?

Queen just going to address her SoonTM comment with another SoonTM -P

My guess is they'll just say they're releasing it next Tuesday with a bloodhunt date announcement as well

Is it possible they could release it tomorrow?

They could release it whenever they want. But it's not likely to release tomorrow. The stream is more than likely just to try and keep people from getting too angry that the update isn't coming this week.

  • And if it was coming out today they would just drop the update and likely not have a livestream. The livestream is more than likely a move to try and hold back the anger/frustration from people when the update doesn't come out. Would be really stupid from a pr perspective to not have a stream/update about the chapter today.

I could be wrong, but based on the banner at the top of the forums this morning it sounds like they will be discussing a few things. BUT I don't feel as though we will have a DLC launch today. If you look the 5 community members are going to be playing Deathgarden following the live stream.

Logically, I think they would all want to be watching matches when it goes live versus playing a different game. Sorry to use logic and I know most times logic with this company can be questioned, but I don't think the new chapter is coming today.

It's likely not coming out today. But devs playing deathgarden isn't all that relevant. That could just as easily be to try and bring up the deathgarden numbers because of how horribly the game is doing. (has like 50 people a day average) And they don't really need to watch people play the killers/survivor.

  • Yea there is a stream today (pretty sure there wasn't going to be one before) Probably to address all of the frustration/etc that has come out in the last few days. Which is a good thing to do on their part.

  • Can also check the dbd wiki for any kind of gameplay information

Freddy really doesn't need to be reworked, he just needs a few things changed.

Make his red paint brush not slow him down at all. It is a ultra rare item, and hard to find.

Make the transition from 7 seconds to 5 at default.

Make self care not break you out of dream world. ONly other survivors, gens and med kits can do that.

    Simple.

    He immediately is stronger.

They want to rework him because his current design is both weak and unfun to play against. Simply buffing him would make it to where he was really zero fun to play vs and that would just result in another Nurse issue (tho he wouldn't be as strong. Still annoying) They want to make him stronger while also having some element of fun on both sides.

I honestly think the killer is fine the way she is. She's going to have a decently high learning curve but she's not that bad. Currently she's a massive mind game killer and really rewards people for being able to play mind games well. I think she needs to hit live and be played for a little while before we can accurately judge what buffs/nerfs she needs. Look at games like League of Legends. Whenever a new champion comes out it almost always has a 40% (give or take) winrate because people don't know how to play it yet. After a few weeks/a month or so if the winrate is still low that's when Riot goes in and buffs the champion.

She has a high learning curve but is mediocre at best.

Also, BHVR doesn't work like Riot. There won't be any buffs until next year. Freddy was released for Halloween. He's been waiting for a buff for a year now.

Don't expect any Spirit buffs in the next 12 months.

She isn't mediocre at best. If you get really good at playing her she will easily be at the top end of the mid tier killers. Possibly even low end of the high tier killers. But I do agree with you that they are way too slow with balancing changes.

From what I've seen mediocre is the proper rating to give her atm... everything in her kit begs for help... the cooldown begs for an addon to be used, the charge begs for an addon, the movement yes 176% but still not enough to make up loss of time so you need an addon... on top of that she encourages the use of tracking perks.. .stridor, predator, etc... this is from what I've seen... I'm going to wait for for her to hit live and then we'll see how she does against the cream of the crop.......

Yea I can agree on that. Two changes I would make for her are way shorter cooldown and allow her to channel it while moving/only slightly reducing her speed while channeling.

I supported soonTM as an answer and still do. If the Devs say things like not today, then people will create threads in every single day and ask whether the chapter will drop that day or not.

However, I feel like that chapter was planned to be released this Tuesday or Thursday but due to bugs, maps etc. they pushed a little bit forward to solve problems.

If something like that is the case, we should be informed. People are waiting for the chapter to spend bloodpoints etc. It would be better, if something went wrong and they are behind their own schedule. At least they can say whether they will release the new chapter this week or the following week/s

they wouldn't take the update off ptb if they still had a lot of things to change/add/fix. Taking updates off test servers means that you have pretty much finished the update and only have a few things left to do. It's why most companies drop their update within a week of taking something off the test server. (unless something weird happens with it. In which case they normally notify the community that it's happening and that there is a delay)

  • It's fine where it is. It does exactly what it is designed to do. It stops flashlights

  • They pretty much removed infinites and bloodlust was orginally just a bandaid fix for terrible map design/infintes. They nerfed bloodlust to keep killers from purposely getting bloodlust 2 or 3 just to end a chase for free. Currently if a killer gets bloodlust 2 it pretty much guarantees at least a hit. To not get a hit with bloodlust 3 you would have to be playing incredibly bad. The nerf just balances out killer since they nerfed survivors.

They would not get a bigger shitstorm for delaying an update if they announced a release date as long as they communicated the reasoning behind the delay. Most people are understanding and know that updates/patches can sometimes get delayed. Saying nothing is always worse than saying something in situations like this

They know how toxic their community is.

They see this said community (that they CREATED, never forget that) acting as it usually do (toxicity fest)

But no, they'd rather don't say anything at first, to see how far it can go.

And when everything is already "burning" they also rather post their usual trollish answer, like "Go play something else" back then.

    Spilling gas on the fire.

Knowing this game's history, they still act all smug with everyone of us, even the most reasonable one.

Like some sort of disgusting scientist : "Let see what happen if say this LUL".

They already make money on toxicity (that they created, again) and even dare to act smug and mock their customers, after all of this.

F.U.C.K them, nothing else to add.

I don't even care nor was hyped about the next Chapter.

I just can't stand toxic peoples, and these devs especially.

You don't know their reasons to not tell the release date, could need some more testing for instance. We don't want another patch with new bugs like tinkerer2. Stop assuming you are being trolled.
If you get the "go play somewhere else" answer is probably because it's the answer you deserved, just look at the way you talk.
PS: you always complain about toxicity but you fail to realize that you are the one who brings the toxicity.
Edit: @giche (since the notification system doesn't work sometimes)

They don't even have to say the actual release date. But they need to say SOMETHING. They could easily say something like "the patch isn't quite ready yet. We ran into some unexpected bugs and are working on fixing them. We will let you know as soon as it's ready."

  • @BACKSTABBER said:

2-. Up to 24hrs after closing the PTB, say the exact date, time and timezone the DLC/PTB is online

3.- Profit, so customers (we) are happy and no dozens of toxicity threads on DBD staff

Honestly they just need to let everyone know 48 hours or so in advance of an updates release date. Far fewer people would have been annoyed yesterday or in the future if they actually announced release dates instead of just ninja dropping it all the time. People can't be disappointed if they know when something is going to come out.

No we aren't. It's stupid to force anyone to wait longer than they have to for the update. PC should't be forced to wait an extra week or two just because consoles take a while to allow the updates. What they should do is make sure that consoles get the update in as little amount of time as possible.

As a pc user I have no problem waiting for it to be done when it's ready. If I've got to wait an extra day r 2 or w/e for it to be ready for all platforms then so be it. It's not the end of the world, it's not BHVRs fault they're trying to be fair.

If you and the rest are so worried about how long it's taking then go buy a pc for all the console users and give BHVR the receipts so they can release it now.

It's normally a week or two minimum for console updates to get approved. So that would mean purposely delaying the patch on pc for potentially two extra weeks for no other reason than dropping the updates at the same time. There's a reason you rarely see companies release things on pc and consoles at the same time.

Yea it's really annoying. I don't know why they are so against telling the community about release dates/times. Every other game does it without much problem. Teasing can be fun/cool/interesting when they do it with killer reveals and things like that. But can you name a single other game that teases the release date of already known/tested content?

It's less that anyone is super "against" telling the community things, if BE is anything like the companies I've worked for. (Hi, former CM/Producer for various online games, but also a huge DBD fan.) It's more that dates can internally shift thanks to work taking longer or shorter, and missing a mark that's made public to the community results in huge backlashes, even if it's for a good reason.

The long and short of it is that more people end up getting angry if something is stated to come out on a specific day and then, for whatever reason, fails to make an appearance on that day. It shakes people's confidence, causes a huge stir, and generally leads to more headaches.

Keeping release dates quiet means that the team can internally shift things as needed without causing ire. It also gives them the flexibility to add things that previously weren't in scope without threatening a release, if they want to cram in some extra community feedback changes. That or, as DCM pointed out above me, because cert for console releases absolutely 1750% sucks.

Also, I should note, no one should ever blame the CM for setting or announcing any dates. While the CM is the name on the post, dates are more frequently set by production, marketing, and executive levels. A CM's job is more centered on collecting community feedback, championing community positions in meetings, and explaining company decisions to the community at large. And moderation. Lots of moderation.

The release will come. :) I'm quite excited too.

I know that this is the main reason. It's just a terrible excuse. Of course some people would get annoyed if a release date was pushed back. But, it's even more annoying to never be communicated with. Communicating with your players is the most important thing you can do as a company and they are essentially refusing to do this. I'm not so much annoyed at the update not releasing as I am their explicit refusal to talk to the community who are clearly annoyed by this. I'm legitimately considering uninstalling the game if the update isn't out in the next day or two and the devs have still said nothing about the release time. I have no intention of playing or supporting a company that can't do the bare minimum of communication for their players

Basically. Teasing content/updates can be funny and stuff if they know when to do it. This is just really annoying.

  • ༼ つ ◕◕ ༽つ SUMMON THE CHAPTER. ༼ つ ◕◕ ༽つ

  • Honestly they are the worst devs when it comes to actually telling the community about any kind of times or dates. Literally every other game lets the community know when a patch is scheduled to be released several days in advance. If not not weeks in advance. In all honesty not knowing when anything is going live just makes me really uninterested in the game. I'm in college and I don't have the patience to keep waiting and waiting and waiting for any kind of update on an estimated release time. It's annoying because they know very well when they plan on launching it, they just choose not to tell the community. This is either from laziness/not caring or they want to avoid people getting angry if they announce a time and have to delay it. Either way it's still extremely annoying.

  • They won't do this. Every single killer (for the most part) would opt out and swf groups would never be able to find games. If they were going to do that they might as well just get rid of swf. The current route they are taking is a better one imo. Their goal is to bring solo players and swf groups to a closer level so they can make it easier to balance the game as a whole. And honestly once they find a way to extend games a little bit, it won't really matter that much if people are swf or not. They only real advantage at that point will be voice comms which won't make you lose a game in most situations.

  • Making gens take longer is something they have thought about but not a route they want to go down. The way they see it is that games are going by too quickly and they want to combat this by giving the survivors more things to do during a game besides just afk gens. This can be done with things like decreased healing speed or maybe even adding another objective or thing for the survivors to do. They are aware that the games are over too quickly and they are trying to find what they think is the best solution.

  • Idk what part of this is confusing you. It's a waste of time and money for the devs to work on a game mode that is only going to be played by a small fraction of the community. • Yea if you already had the perk before buying it and didn't get any BP I would open a ticket.

  • The devs have talked about this before and this largely comes from latency. The way it works is a killer swings and hits you on his screen but because of latency it takes longer to register the hit on your end. This has a lot to do with the fact that each lobby is hosted by the killer instead of dedicated servers. Dedicated servers will cost them a lot of money and I don't see them adding them even if literally every single player wants it.

  • It would be a pointless thing for them to work on. Especially if it was just for kill your friends. They should just focus on things that will actually benefit the game

  • Yea it's entirely educated guesses by us. It's been a month since the last chapter and they closed the test server last week. So they aren't getting any new feedback on the content which means it should be ready to ship to live. The Devs for this game do an awful job of actually telling us anything though so we won't know until it actually comes out.
