You are playing two of the most annoying killers in the game to face. When the changes happen your games aren't going to get any better. People will still DC vs nurse and possibly still DC vs spirit. Even if they don't DC, they will just instantly suicide instead of disconnecting. The changes aren't going to make your games more enjoyable. They are just going to change how the people get out of the games they don't want to play.
-
The probable reason is that the Devs couldn't get the rights from the Scream creators. The mask is licensed by the company that designed it and isn't owned by the creators of Scream. The studio owns all the characters and the clothing itself, just not the mask. So what this likely means is that we aren't going to get a survivor, or at least not one from the Scream universe.
-
I'm fine with the current DS. It only works if you tunnel someone off the hook within 60 seconds. It's slightly annoying but not anywhere near as overbearing as it used to be. The only one that really needs to be addressed is MoM. Borrowed time and the other ones are situational and aren't that huge of a deal.
-
I don't see how people fail to understand that preventing people from disconnecting with punishments is not going to fix the problem. It's just going to ######### it to a different problem. If you stop people from disconnecting by force, they aren't going to magically become better teammates and play the games out like they should. They are going to suicide on hook immediately, annoy/troll/sandbag teammates, or they are going to do absolutely nothing to help their team. People look at games like LoL and similar games and see that they don't have a disconnect problem because they have punishments. What they have instead are people who get mad 10 minutes into the game and then "soft int" by only pushing their lane the entire game and dying any time someone breaths on them. Or they run it down mid lane and screw over their teammate. This happens far more often then you might think. Also, if someone gets annoyed enough to DC and doesn't want to wait to suicide and you give them a long queue time for leaving, it will lead to longer queue times for killers and likely survivors. Queue times for killers are already bad enough. Do you want to potentially add another 3 or 4 minuets to killer queue times? (The number could be higher or lower. No way of actually judging this) Punishments aren't going to give you a better gameplay experience. If they want to implement this then the devs have to come up with a way to punish people for suiciding/taking away that option entirely. They would also need to add a way to track if people are playing in toxic ways (such as purposely farming teammates or popping gens over and over that someone is working on) If they don't do any of these things adding a punishment for disconnecting isn't going to make much of a difference.

Coincidences. Nothing more. Or have you played like 1000 times vs Wraith lately and been next to him the Majority of time?
And well... You will remember those games where you spawned next to him, but not the games, where you did not spawn anywhere near him.
I don't play vs wraith very often. Maybe like 1/50 games. But when I do I notice that he spawns a fair amount of the time.
-
I feel like having things like a season pass, more themed events/adding more objectives while making the maps larger could be more fun and refreshing. We just need things that give us a reason to play.
-
The matchmaking is horrendous right now. It's a problem for everyone. At least 1/3 of my games result in me having to force quit or starting a game with less than 4 survivors.
-
I would be fine with it if they just made noises from being injured 100% instead of 50. That and possibly combine it with "this is not happening"
-
There isn't a good way for them to fix it right now. If they just punish players for disconnecting you will have fewer people playing the game. People DC when they get incredibly frustrated at the game. If they are that frustrated, they aren't going to suddenly become good teammates/opponents if they are punished for leaving. They will just suicide/troll teammates/be overall toxic in game. It's not going to make the gameplay any healtheir. Also, people who get punished/suicide/play a game they can't just quit out of, might just decide to not play any more games afterwards. This would drop the player base down a decent amount and would just make queues even longer. The only two solutions that I see working are providing rewarding incentives for people not leaving, or eliminating the aspects of the game that cause that much frustration. The 2nd one is very unlikely to happen any time soon. So, the only viable short term option imo is to come up with good rewards/incentives to entice people into staying in games even when they don't want to.

You are probably thinking about the leaked sound effects. I don't think so, as long as the creature has some sort of conscience and can be controlled by the Entity to take its hope and make it into a killer, I don't think so.
Kinda. The devs have made comments in the past about human only killers. But I couldn't remember if it was purely because of the cost of new tech or if it was because of lore reasons. Hopefully it's not because of lore. I HATE when games are held back because of lore.
-
Fear is completely arbitrary and subjective. What scares you likely won't scare me. No matter what changes they make, someone will and will not be scared by it. Also, consistent exposure to these "scary" things will desensitize people to a point where the game isn't close to as scary as it could be. That would just lead to the same "problem" you are having right now. There is no reason for them to try and artificially pump in things to make the game scarier.

The Epic Games store has a variety of issues.
Particularly, in terms of saves, and syncing across different PC’s.
Let’s say for example, I play and I have a level fourty five character that I got from thirty. If I don’t manually back up said save, I lose that progress.
And if I tried to login in on a different PC? I wouldn’t have any of my progress.
Epic Games store is horrendous. It’s only propelled via the success of Fortnite, but much like that- it’s not going to last. Steam is much better.
Unless Steam changes it business model, more developers will continue moving to Epic. Epic only takes about 10% of the profits made from game sales. Companies that don't need the advertising/are going to do well enough already have zero incentive to stay on Steam.

I hope they dont follow other games and add a season pass. I mean we barely get cosmetics as it is and the season pass would probably make some exclusive. It seems like a money game that they just want to add to benefit themselves
That's the entire purpose of adding cosmetics. It costs them money to make and they need money to fund updates to the game. I would love if every item in the season pass was exclusive. Buy it and support the devs and get cool, exclusive cosmetics. Or, you can choose to not purchase the pass and it has zero effect on your gameplay.
-
I think the season pass needs to have exclusive cosmetics in it that can only be obtained from the pass. After the pass ends, they can't be obtained again. This would give me and other players a reason to purchase it and a reason to continue playing the game. Would also discourage DC. If the items weren't completely exclusive to the season pass/could be gotten at a later date, I wouldn't care about it and would likely play a lot less because of it. The cosmetics don't have to be super fancy or anything, just decent exclusives. Decently exclusives with a handful of quality cosmetics.
-
Why do stupid people always assume that the same people working on cosmetics are also the same people who do game design or the actual coding
-
I would much rather have a paid version. And your idea could just be implemented into the account levels we already have. Have fewer cosmetics/ones with less design, but still exclusive to leveling your account more. Would help stop the DC problem. Or at the very least cut it down some.
-
For a season pass I would much rather it just follow a similar formula as other games. Level it up and as you level it up you get different, exclusive cosmetics. That's the appeal of season passes for me. I want to more reason to play the game and I want to get cosmetics that are exclusive to the people who play enough to get them.
-
Also, even if you manage to force people to stay in games where they would want to DC, it's just going to increase the toxicity within the game. It's going to likely result in a lot of those players not trying to play the game out/ immediately just suiciding to the killer. Either that or they are going to be incredibly toxic in game by sandbagging/popping gens/other toxic things. These people aren't going to suddenly become great teammate because they are forced to stay in the game.

I like the idea and definitely think a timeout would be reasonable if the player had the opportunity to rejoin the match.
There is one fix that I think would be super easy to implement and would at least decrease disconnects a little.
REMOVE the Leave Game button.
Why is it even there if disconnecting is frowned upon and if done enough a bannable offense? Just get rid of it. Don't give players the option to leave the match if you don't want people leaving matches.
Without the button I think the amount of current disconnects would decrease a lot. I don't think the majority of people disconnecting currently would be willing to alt+f4 their game and relaunch it just to quit out of a match.
People can just alt tab out and force close from task manager. Removing the leave game button would do nothing. And yes many people would still disconnect. And instead of leaving and playing the game more, they might just force quit and decide to not open the game again. This would drop the player base a decent amount and just result in longer queue times. Terrible idea
-
The solution to fixing DC/s is better if they look at a way to reward/benefit people who don't DC vs punishing people who do. For instance, if I get incredibly angry and want to disconnect, having a 5 minute timer isn't going to dissuade me from disconnecting. It's just going to make me wait longer to play or make me not play at all. It would also hurt queue times even more than they are now because people would either not be playing or they would be waiting to queue because of the punishment. Instead, give people more of a reason to not disconnect. If I'm in a game where I'm having zero fun, my teammates are playing like absolute monkeys, and I'm not going to get any meaningful bloodpoints, I gain zero by staying in the game. The only thing that I lose is the xp for account level which on one cares about. A good place to start would be making account levels actually mean something. Currently they are pointless and don't really have a purpose (aside from shards which could just as easily be added to post game like they previously were) Attach cosmetic and decently sized BP rewards to account leveling and reward people for staying in game. I would be a lot less incline to disconnect if I was working on unlocking a new cosmetic or two from account leveling. Punishing the disconnecting players with timeouts is just going to further along the queue and is a lazy solution imo. Games like LoL can get away with these kinds of timeouts because they have drastically more players to fill the gaps. DBD can't afford to do anything that lengthens the already annoying queue times.
-
It wouldn't create diversity. It would just change up what is and isn't meta. People are always going to gravitate towards what's the strongest at the time. Making this change would just further enhance characters like the nurse and make some survivors completely unplayable in high ranks. The way game is never going to be diverse because the meta perks will always exist. A change like this wouldn't change up the cookie cutter builds. It would just nerf the cookie cutter builds and force everyone onto a few characters like Claudette or Meg/etc. Diversity will never happen in DBD unless every single perk becomes niche and only fits a certain type of gameplay that isn't related to survival/chases.
-
I think the best solution to keeping players more interested in an unfun game is to make devotion levels (account levels in general) actually give you cosmetics and rewards. Also, don't allow quest progress or xp from a disconnected game. If the rewards for getting higher levels was enticing, people would be less inclined to constantly give up xp. Ultimately though I don't think anything can really be done to stop it entirely.
-
Nerfs: Nurse needs to be completely gutted or reworked. Billy needs a mobility nerf
Rework: Freddy needs a complete overhaul/rework. He's designed in a way that prevents buffs alone from being a good idea. Just buffing Freddy would result in him being zero fun to play vs and that isn't healthy for the game.
Buffs: I think Trapper and Leatherface are the only two killers who feel weaker than the rest of the mid tier killers. I'm not really sure what you can do to trapper aside from a rework to buff him. Leatherface could possibly be buffed by just having addons reworked. -
I wouldn't encourage people to spend money. The change they made was mostly to protect their profit and do exactly what you are doing right now. They knew if they didn't change it that fewer people were going to spend money on the costumes. By all means buy the costumes if you want to. But, don't praise the devs like they did some heroic deed.
-
They have 7 killer costumes (3 pieces each) we can grind out and unlock only one of these (3 pieces)kisfenkin said:@Elegant said:
I would have rather gotten nothing than and the costumes on the store than having a super lame event like thisI don't get it.. maybe I'm misinformed. They added a bunch of cosmetics for the event. From my understanding at least some are available to be ground out in game. How is this any different than the Summer BBQ? Did people think that was lame too? Or is the upset all about last Halloween's event?
Personally, I don't care much about cosmetics. I won't pay cash for them, but if given a way in game I might make a reasonable effort to get them. I am hopeful that the event provides some way to earn extra blood and the possibility of free cosmetics. What else is everyone expecting that is missing from this event?
The devs hyped it up like it was going to be bigger than it actually is. People are more annoyed now because it feels like a cash grab. Hype up an event, get us excited to unlock cool costumesx only to tell us we will have to buy them instead. Other events didn't have cosmetics we couldn't unlock -
That's relatively common in the games I play. Events usually bring in an influx of players that often ends up bringing back toxic players/swf groups who just want to be dicks.
-
It's not that bad. It just forces you to play the game slightly longer. So instead of finishing it in 5 hours it might take you 9

Which I hope helps encourage them to keep such a model in the future.
So, I was never unhappy.

That's the kind of attitude that breeds pay to win games. I understand where you are coming from, but letting Devs get away with ######### business practices isn't a good thing for everyone. A better solution would have been to just have more of the costumes available through grinding for people that had the time and available to buy for people that didn't.
You know that pay 2 win has nothing to do with cosmetics?
No it doesn't.. But that's the kind of attitude that allows pay to win to continue in other games. Most of Korea has the exact same attitude as you and virtually every one of their games has a pay to win model because they don't mind paying money to save time. So companies make games incredibly grindy and let them pay to pass the grind. Sure, this game is just cosmetics. But, they wouldn't hesitate to add pay to win aspects if they could get away with it and make more money. The only reason pay to win isn't prevalent in the US/EU is because most people don't have your attitude towards games.
As for your pay2win agrument, to a degree DBD already has a mild pay2win. Just buy the base game, and no DLCs. Now try to Rank up and face those Red Rank builds. Do it all without ever having any of the Killer meta perks, all of which come from one DLC or another. You absolutely must buy the DLCs for all those killer teachable perks to survive the upper ranks, unless you are a highly skilled player to begin with (and most players aren't at that level and never will be).
And the Shrine of Secrets isn't really a factor given how infrequently the truly meta-perks for Killers appear in there.
So, yes, DBD already has a p2w aspect to it. You absolutely need a variety of DLCs just to be able to do a whole hell of a lot above the mid-ranks.
A point could be made for it being p2w but most wouldn't consider the DLCs to be pay to win. Especially since most of the DLC killers and perks aren't that great comparatively. But allowing the DLC characters to be unlocked with shards mostly got rid of the pay to win aspects. Mostly.

This has nothing to do with them having backbone or not. It's a business decision. Their options were to either keep it the way it was out of pure stubbornness or to listen to the community and make changes. If they hadn't made changes, they would have lost money from angry players. There were a lot of people, including me, who planned on buying at least one of the new costumes but decided to not buy anything once we saw how lame the event was. Their decision wasn't out of the good of their heart or because they want to give back to the players. It was to protect their money. That's what a business does. You were wrong on every single thing you said. Indefensibly wrong.

No. What they did was fix a mistake that they made. People had every right to complain about the event. It was stupid on their part to only have 1 costume in the first place. Listening to what most of the community wants isn't "giving in." It's the intelligent thing to do. If they wouldn't have changed this, they likely would have made drastically less money than they would have otherwise. I mean yea a lot of it is whining. But it's justified whining. It's needed when people are unhappy with the direction a game is taking. If the Devs care about their game they will pay attention. Hopefully they increase the amount of skins we can get or at least learn from this event for the future. They don't learn from anything. That's their problem. They are completely out of touch with players and don't seem to care about changing. If they care about changing or the community they would speak out when we were outraged or would interact with us more. They just care about doing their own thing and making money. They seem to only care about the community when it comes to their profit. I think at the very least 3 of the full costumes should have been unlockable through grinding.

i mean come on the skins that were leaked looked so good did anyone really honestly think they would be free? It's not that the skins aren't all free. It's that they hyped up an event where we can only get one of those skins. They would have been better off just putting the skins in the store and not having an event at this point. If they are going to put the time into making an event, the least they could do is make the event fun and meaningful. They could very easily have made this event much grinder and made it take more time to get the vials. Then allow us to get 3 or 4 of the costumes. This would mean casual players would have still had to purchase the full costumes at the end if they didn't/couldn't play as much. It would also give both casual and veteran players a lot to do/look forward to. Also, it would have made players across the board more willing to spend money on the costumes they didn't unlock.
-
Personally this is the only event they have had that has actually annoyed me/made me mad. All the other events were kind of lame but I wasn't expecting much from them. At least with the other events you knew what cosmetics you were going to play for and you knew what you had to do to unlock them. There were no other cosmetics that were a part of the event that you couldn't earn and had to actually buy. The other events got boring after a day or two because I had the cosmetics, but I wasn't upset about that. However, with this event I was way more hyped up and now i'm just really let down. They have given me equally as little reason to play after I unlock the cosmetics and they locked other event cosmetics behind paywalls. My goal now is to just get the cosmetics as fast as possible and to go and play other games that have much cooler Halloween events/other events. League of legends still has their world championship event going on and Maplestory 2 has a Halloween event that's just starting. Other games have given a way better incentive to play their game right now and haven't pissed off the community in the process like dbd has done. I really have no idea who is in charge of these kinds of decision making at BHVR but they are really awful at their job and it's going to start showing in a loss of revenue and potential death of the game if they don't change something.
