  • I do that if I don't feel like going through queue again. But, it's just super boring to play out games where people take in 3/4 tool boxes because it's clear their goal is to do gens as fast as possible and have a low interaction game. Which is super boring for a killer. I would rather not play vs it.

  • I dodge if there are more than two toolboxes.

Well ######### me, I guess. I took some time off work, so i could grind this out. Wish the delay was announced sooner.

Behavior will neve announce anything until the day it releases. That's what they almost always do unfortunately. They usually refuse to give any exact dates for things

  • The devs have always been dog ######### at talking to the community and telling us release dates. For spirit it took about a month after she hit PTB to come out and they never said a word about it. We won't know the release date for archives until it actually comes out. Which could be any time between Wednesday/Thursday and a month from now. It's a shame because i haven't played DBD almost at all since June because I've been waiting for the archives

  • The pass is the sole thing bringing me back to the game

  • The nurse nerf raises the skill ceiling. It will actually require nurse players to be good at the game and have a good enough understanding of the game. Great nurse players will be find after a slight adjustment period and bad nurse players will struggle a lot. Which is exactly how it should be. If spirit is the sole op character remaining, then she will hopefully get nerfed in the near future as well. One op character at a time

  • Good. This is exactly what should happen. You literally just said that "if they go through with the nurse nerfs, then people are going to go and play the other really op killer. Then, the devs will nerf the other op killer! If they don't, people are just going to run builds to counter the other op killer! Then I won't be able to rely on op killers to win games!"

This is precisely what should happen. Both killers should receive adequate nerfs. Survivors are already going to take a hit when the unsafe palette changes are widespread. Op characters shouldn't exist purely for the reason of being used to beat good players who would otherwise be a challenge on more balanced characters. This is awful logic.

  • @lunaticlifter said:

@Elegant the nerf even on pc is noticeable: Less map control, less snowball potential, more punishing from missing hits (dead hard also stronger)..meh

It's noticeable and it should be. Nurse is the most blatantly overpowered character in any video game i've ever played. And I played LoL when mordekaiser first got reworked. She had a really really low skill ceiling with a massively absurd win potential. The amount of skill it required to learn and play nurse at a high enough level to consistently win every game was so stupidly low. If someone were to play Nurse for 500+ hours and tried hard to win every game, they would rarely get less than 3 kills. I would honestly guess they would have at least an 85% win rate as nurse. This kind of win rate isn't present anywhere close to that number in any other video game. In LoL one tricks dedicate thousands of hours into their favorite character and almost no one in the game can achieve more than a low 50s % win rate in ranked games. You can dedicate a fraction of that time into nurse and get at least a 70% win rate and that's low balling the estimate. The update will finally raise the nurse's skill ceiling to a point where players actually have to invest time in her to learn how to play her, as well as learning all of the maps, while also paying attention to how survivors play. Really great nurse players will still be really deadly and mediocre nurse players will struggle. Which is exactly how it should be.

Well, i'm not really convincing them to change their opinion to mine, its more so to clash opinions and see why the other side thinks that way or something.

    It's fun discussing things.

clashing opinions is pointless if no one is going to change their minds or is open to changing their mind. At that point it's just two people throwing things at two different walls.

  • Unless they do a console only build/patch, they should never balance the game around bad performing machines/controllers. I'm 100% in support of adding a separate balance change if it's a console exclusive change.

  • Nurse will likely still be S tier for anyone who actually takes the time to get good at her and learns to play the game in an intelligent way. One thing DBD doesn't have that most multiplayer games do have, is a high level of mechanics and or game sense required to be top in the top rank. There are a good number of red rank/rank 1 players who know how to do well enough to survive/kill to get enough points to get a pip. But, they have no fundamental understanding of the game and why things are or aren't strong. Dead by Daylight requires virtually high levels of game sense to do well. The game is super simplistic and doesn't require a lot of learning to figure out how to do well and rank up. Ranking up is almost entirely a time grind instead of a skill grind. As long as you are half decent at the game and don't constantly dc, you will be able to hit red ranks. New nurse is probably the first killer that will actually require killers to learn some form of micro play and management. Use your blinks incorrectly and a good survivor gets away. Use them well and you get an easy down. In theory it should allow her to finally have a skill ceiling that not anyone can reach after playing 100 hours of nurse while finally having some form of outplay.

Maybe on PC the skill cap is low but on consoles nurse is hard and require more skill then his PC counterpart.

No one cares about console. They won't, and should never take sup bar tech and controllers into account when making balance changes for characters. If they wanted to do a separate build/balance for consoles then sure. But until they do, they should never take controllers and lower FPS/performance into account when deciding on balance.

  • Because the community is really dumb. If you spend any amount of time on the forums and look at the kinds of things that most people end up saying, it's impressively stupid. They have no understanding of the game or how balancing should work. They have no logical evidence to back up arguments, just awful reasonings that can easily be picked apart. I would honestly just ignore almost everything you see on the forums because you are going to be wasting air trying to convince people on here.

You can definitely argue that, although I feel that the most problematic part of her kit was her addons such as 5 blinks and Omegablink. I feel like they overstepped "slight change", depending on how it plays out, it could be a huge gamechanger, at worst completely ruining Nurse, but at least we get to test it during the PTB so hopefully the devs listen if there is enough outcry.

Her kit alone is problematic. Look back at the dead by daylight tournament they had a while ago. No addons or perks for both surivors and killers. It was impossible for any team to win if they didn't play nurse and this was purely base power nurse. Virtually every game was resulting in nurse slaughtering everyone and people weren't even finishing more than one or 2 gens. This was also on a map that all the players agreed was an 'even' matchup for both killer/survivor. These were also a lot of the better players who play the game. If some of the best survivors in the game couldn't outplay base nurse/get wins vs base nurse, it's hard to argue that base nurse's power is fair or balanced.

  • The problem with this game is a vast majority of the players are really dumb and don't understand how to play the game or how it works. There are two ways to "counter" face camping. Teammates doing gens while the killer face camps and the knowledge that by facecamping without a survivor nearby the killer will lose points. For the first one to work, you have to rely on your teammates not being idiots and having the understanding to not go for the save when the killer is camping. This doesn't happen very often. Almost always there will be at least one survivor who runs near the killer while they face camp and nulls the point loss. That player also becomes useless because they accomplish nothing as the player is dying. It requires all 3 players not being a complete idiot at the same time and this is very rare for this game. So, it often ends up being worthwhile for the killer to do this because survivors are dumb. Second, the killer has to know about the point loss and care about it enough to not face camp. If a killer doesn't care about their emblem rank and just wants the kill, there is nothing to entice them away from the hook aside from all 3 survivors doing gens. Which again, doesn't happen as often as it should (it should happen every time once survivors find out they hard/face camp). The devs would have to implement some further penalties for hard/face camping or the community would have to become more intelligent on a mass scale for this to change. The first one is way more likely than the second to happen, but I doubt the devs are going to do anything about it even though it kills the game or a lot of newer players. I know a lot of people who have tried the game out and immediately quit after a few hours of playing because every game they play results in them getting hard camped as soon as they are downed. It's something that needs to be addressed but is unlikely to be addressed any time soon.

  • Nurse base is not fine and it 100% needed a nerf. No way to logically argue against it

to break from the flood of angry people in the streets of the realm of the entity, I am really really REALLY excited for all that juicy content, this is the healthiest thing they could have ever done to the game for a couple of reasons:

THE ARCHIVES ARE THE MOST CONCRETE LORE YET and a source of game time

not only do we get something to do which isn't "get chased with this character you never use for 3 bps", we get a reward that not even auric cells compare; actual lore.

We can finally get some answers! Some concrete information and even some pictures to check out on the characters past (maybe some "origin" clothes for killers where they look like their PRE entity days? Here's your idea mr BHVR)

THE Rift is the partial answer to burnout

burnout is terrible, when you really like a game so much that you end up not liking it anymore, it really does suck.

With the rift however, we finally have a partial answer to the burnout problem DBD suffers from

sure a pseudo battle pass is gonna be another riot fest in some people's eyes, but if it includes super awesome clothes as tier rewards + game currencies like bps and iri shards + challenges to complete to earn tiers it might just be the thing DBD was looking for.

    MID CHAPTER COLLECTIONS

they are just cool, everytime a mid chapter patch comes out and with it the collections, it feels like christmas, seeing all the cool designs and stuff; it's great.

    that's all ok bye

I haven't played the game almost at all since they announced archives back during summer because I was so hyped for the battle pass/archives and was really disappointed with the virtually zero summer content. I am incredibly hyped for this update and plan on playing the game a ton. It finally adds progression that I'm interested in

  • They can stop them. But, they would also curb their playerbase by a good amount of they add really harsh punishments for it.

  • For any multiplayeyr game like DBD that already has a big following they aren't just going to make a new game. The only reason they would make a new game is if there is something they believe is crucial to the future of the game and they can't implement with the current game's engine/parameters without having to fully re code the game. They won't make a new game simply for a graphical update because it would be a massive waste of money. Assuming they can't just update the current build, they would likely have to do a ton of coding just to make the game and upgrade the graphics. This would cost a lot of money and hours. They have no guarantee that people would buy the new game or if it would be as successful. It's a huge risk for only slight improvements. An example of something major would be if dedicated servers were impossible for the current game and they felt it was crucial for DBD to have them. Then, they might create a second game.

  • They devs have openly stated that they won't do anything about stream sniping and any reports it will be ignored. Sandbagging can be bannable but it's unlikely

  • They already have this. Ranks 16-20 are going to almost always be new players. Once you hit 15 you can't rank back down to 20. And you can't lose ranks until you but 15. So players are going to automatically be at rank 15 after playing for a short amount of time. Queue times would be horrible if they added another mode to queue for.

  • You can get all 3 of these characters/perks simply by playing the game and it doesn't take super long to get enough currency to do so. Troll harder next time

  • I get down to around rank 6 when I do play killer then either get bored and don't play until the next month, or I get tired of playing super sweaty and swap to survivor and play some fun games. Getting red ranks in this game isn't hard. It's more of a time grind than a skill grind. When they launch archives/the spark pass thing I will end up hitting red ranks because I will be playing a lot more.

  • That's how any games work. They buff and nerf characters as they see fit. The nurse has been in a ridiculous state for way too long. Any half decent company would have gutted her or reworked her a long time ago. They can remove her from the game as far as I'm concerned. She's completely unenjoyable to play against and not super exciting to play as.

  • Increase. Prior to the devotion system people would get shards at the end of each game. With the new system you only get them when leveling. Idk what the difference in currency by the number of games played would be. I'm not sure if 10 games (pretend the person had a single pip each of the 10 games) would get you more shards with the new or old system. The increase would only be to compensate for the change if the old system would have netted more shards per 10 games than now.

  • @Crazewtboy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/579223#Comment_579223

"It does nothing but give us currency" unfortunately it doesn't do that and that is the problem. All you get is the shards from going through the levels to get to devotion. Like you said though, you can't even display it! Although that might be for the best as it would just give killers another excuse to dodge.

I was just talking about the shards. And the devotion level could be optional or just shown in post game lobbies. It's just a stupidly lazy system that doesn't really serve a purpose. They could have just adjusted the amount of shards that were gained in the post lobby or increased the prices of items to compensate for the difference in shard gaining from the post games lobbies. It's entirely pointless to have devotion

  • Yes it should. It's already not a good perk. If someone wanted to take this perk purely to counter fake pallets then that's one less metal/useful perk for them to have in the game.

  • It needs a Nerf/rework. It's overpowered and overall just a really unfun mechanic that doesn't need to be in the game

  • The biggest issue my new friends have when first starting out is that almost every single killer hard tunnels until they down someone, then they face/hard camp that person until they die. The killer then does this until the game is over. For new players they can't possibly have fun vs this and it ruins any kind of experience for them. Most of my friends have never come back because of experiences like this.

  • I've been saying since the week it launched. Devotion is utterly pointless and whoever put it out in it's current state is an idiot. It does literally nothing but give us currency that we were already getting in the post game anyway. It offers no rewards, we can't display it, and we can't benefit from it in any way. With the upcoming archive and battle pass I don't see them ever doing anything to not make it a worthless addition.

  • Unlikely. Their response (as well as a lot of others) I'd to just work on gens and punish the killer for camping. They don't take concern with how insanely annoying/unfun it is for the person getting camped. For people like me who have played the game a lot I know that the game can be fun and not everyone camps. But, newer killers tend to camp A LOT and it's hurting the game. Any time I play with new friends who are trying out the game, they rarely okay more than a few games before getting too frustrated and quitting for a while/forever. For a lot of new people all they play vs is camping/super hard tunneling killers and it makes them have zero fun. It's something that needs to be addressed but I highly doubt they will.

  • @Warlock_2020 said:

People need to stop responding with passionate positions and start using their head. This is not a survivor vs killer thing. This is a degree of concern thing. The only bug that earned a ban in recent memory was the Legion perma-mend bug. That is because it was not only game breaking, like the wakeup and tinkerer bugs, but it also caused the game to be taken hostage and added a whole other griefing level to the situation. Using it gave you the ability to absolutely dominate while also being able to take the game hostage where others could do nothing.

Enough with the crybaby tears. We are absolutely right in demanding a swift fix as it affects the quality of play, but stop acting like spoiled children in the process.

And even this was only bannable when people reported it. They didn't have a viable way of tracking it on their own.

  • As far as I know they don't have a way of tracking who is and who isn't abusing the bugs. People can do it as much or as little as they want because they don't have a way to check. Because of the way the game is coded, they also can't just disable things for some reason. So people are stuck with it happening until they patch it out.

  • Awful coding when the game was made. Like really bad coding. The "spaghetti" code has a ton of issues and it's resulting in random things breaking when they change unrelated things somewhere else. They can't predict it and it's going to take a ton of work to fix. I'm not even sure if they can fix the spaghetti code without making an entirely new game.

  • Every character should have built in counterplay. This isn't an issue with new killers. It's an issue with older ones and the core design of the game. The devs were clueless when designing the game and are still working to fix the problems

  • @NuclearBurrito said:

    I'd suggest migrating to deathgarden.

Deathgarden is an awful game and will be completely dead within 6 months. It's already down to 500 average active users within a month of it's relaunch. That's on top of all the advertising and sponsoring they did. Hopefully they realize it's complete and utter garbage and just let it die.

  • They need to. I will never play vs a nurse. It's an instant dodge as soon as I hear the scream. Even if I beat the nurse I can never have an enjoyable game. She's insanely unfun to play vs and she needs to be reworked or completely gutted. People saying base nurse is balanced are just dumb. In the DbD tournament they had a while back where no one could take perks or addons, Nurse won every single game and it wasn't even close. If you didn't have a nurse player on your team you didn't win. Base nurse is still incredibly overpowered vs base anything else. Sure, you might be able to win a game vs a base nurse. But it doesn't make it her balanced or fun to play against. It's an incredibly stupid design for a character and the fact she hasn't been reworked just proves how clueless the devs are in this game.

  • @yes said:

Why can't they add Bill to console?

They couldn't add bill because he is a Valve character and they were only allowed to have him on Steam. If DBD had its own standalone game on pc he wouldn't have been allowed on that either. He was a steam exclusive.

  • I don't play much at all. I was really hyped for the battle pass/stuff tied to it but having it delayed until the next chapter has left me disappointed and starved for content. They really really messed up by just having Ghost Face and Freddy rework during the summer and nothing else. The anniversary event was nothing special and I didn't even bother to play any games during it. Having just a killer and no survivor or map makes the gameplay just as stale/similar as it was before. Just slightly more interesting for a week or two. When the next chapter does launch, it will be around the same time as Borderlands 3 and a lot of other major game releases. I won't be touching any other game for a good while once Borderlands 3 drops. I feel like it's a major mistake to not have pushed out the archives/battle pass for a summer release. Far fewer people will be interested during September through December because of all the major game releases coming out then. I want to be hyped about this game, but they aren't giving me anything to be hyped about.

  • The only nerf I want for him is a cooldown on his chainsaw when he misses and have the cooldown increase with by the distance traveled. So, if billy wiffs his chainsaw it would have like a 6 seconds cooldown if he didn't go far. But, if he were to travel all the way across the map, it would have a longer cooldown (like 15 seconds). This would reward good play and punish bad play. It would create a skillgap between good and bad Billy players.

  • I've been saying for a long time that while in a chase or on a hook being camped you should get points when generators are worked on/finished. You are allowing the other survivors to finish gens by distracting the killer. Currently if you get chased for 5 gens and escape you likely won't pip. That's insane to me. You ran the killer for so long that you won your team the game and still managed to escape, but were punished for it. It doesn't have to be a 1:1 ratio of points, but you should still get a decent % of the gen points for distracting the killer. Same thing if the killer camps. Him camping you is allowing the survivors to work on gens. They still need to do some work on emblems and how ranking works. I still find it dumb that you can escape from a game really quickly and depip because the killer is terrible. (by terrible I mean that the survivors finished all 5 gens, escaped, and the killer only hooked 0-3 people). Survivors shouldn't get punished because of the killer's lack of skill.

  • @Carpemortum said:

I'd rather have new content, and it be half decent (with the forums bitching that its useless), giving some variety than one or two a year that are "community approved top tier".

Not only does more content and variety give the game more opportunity for different metas and playstyles, but if every killer were as good as you all want, survivors would cry every release and the same issues would present themselves, just on the other side of the aisle.

With Ghost Face in his current state he would be the worst killer in the game (after Freddy rework comes out) and would be nothing more than an M1 killer who didn't have a power majority of the time. Adding more content isn't good for a game if it isn't quality content. That hurts them more in the long term. People who were interested in coming back to the game for Ghost Face are likely to leave/not come back at all if they find out the killer is complete garbage. There are so many things that need to be worked on in this game (maps, objectives, etc) and pumping out killers every 3 months might not be the best use of their time right now. They should take a chapter off to address gameplay and balance to improve their game. Once the game is in a good state, they can go back to the four chapters a year model.

  • They are completely justified complaints. They released the killer in a state where his power is almost entirely useless. Obviously it's ptb and they have time to go through and buff him. But, the fact that he was released in this state is a bad sign.

  • Disconnects are just going to be replaced with immediate suicides. It's not going to change the game as much as you think it is.

  • There is no logical way that you can say archives aren't content. I can no longer take anything you say seriously LMAO

  • If if we "lose" two new maps, the maps we have gotten have been literal trash for the most part. They are all just a building in the middle and some random textures around the building.

    "Hunter is braindead easy"

This is kind of how I feel after watching some gameplay. The fact that you just kill people when you catch them make it seem like Hunter is just ridiculously OP. Maybe if you couldn't do it until the second or third down it would make a difference, but as it stands it seems to me that if you have good aim you should always win as the hunter.

That was the issue the game had last time. (That and no progression system) good/decent hunters had a 100% win rate because Hunter is really op. They didn't fix that with the update to the game. Most people aren't going to want to play scavenger when they have a near guarantee to lose.

Its not when you think about it, sure we wont get as much content as the past years have given. But this road map looks to specifically focus on reworking, and fixing massive issues with the game.

This means DCing is being looked into, dedicated servers, map reworks, etc. This road map its basically a game fix, i'd prefer they spend a chapter/roadmap on that rather than it taking months to be addressed.

It's literally the exact same amount of content as last year but with more stuff added. What part of any of this gave you the impression that we weren't getting as much as last year?

  • Basically we get ghost face and that's it. Then mid chapter we get Freddy. All the stuff to care about isn't coming for 5+ months.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 9
