They just don’t want to invest the time / money. It’s a pretty basic feature that comes as standard with most multiplayer games, but what can ya do.
-
That would be nice.
-
It’s good to know that I’m officially one of the best survivors in the entire game, and with under 1k hours. Impressive.

Hiding all game though is actually detrimental to your chances to escape if it means the gens don’t get done. The optimal strategy is a combination of hiding, doing gens and rescuing someone else if needed, and being able to delay being hit as long as possible while being chased.
The notion that on average people who try and hide all game have high MmR on average is a fallcy.
I agree hiding is not the best strategy, but my point is that if you do the bare minimum, play it ultra safe and let your team take most of the pressure, if you escape, in the devs eyes it makes you more skilled than someone who loops the killer all game, gets every unhook, heals every injured teammate, takes protection hits, etc, but who doesn’t escape because they sacrifice themselves to save everyone else.

This game wasn't designed with SWF at launch. It's in the game now and it isn't going anywhere. You either bring solo close to SWF and balance around that or you leave the game a mess.
Exactly.

I could understand this question if we were talking about a buff to surv basekit. Like if they go ahead with basekit BT or something. But just giving soloQ survs the information to play properly? I'm a killer main but I take little satisfaction in winning because my opponents played badly or simply didn't have the tools to compete properly.
The game isn’t designed around comms though. Working with limited information is intentional and is bound to lead to mistakes.
Bringing solo queue closer to SWF would render many killers too weak because comms break the original design of the game, so killers would need to be buffed accordingly.
-
This is very easy to refute and there’s no need to overcomplicate things.
How do we define skill? Does it not depend on your objective? Looping a good killer for 5 gens undoubtedly takes skill, however if your goal is to simply escape, and matchmaking is based on escapes, then isn’t it technically more skilful to hide while your less competent teammates do all the busy work?
No. It is not. Don’t be ridiculous.
-
Try not to get frustrated by it. The unfortunate reality is that BHVR just aren’t very good at balancing, and given some of their comments during livestreams, it’s doubtful this will ever change.
Its always good to give feedback but try not to get too invested and hopeful. It’s best to just take DBD for what it is and enjoy the fantasy of what it could be.
😭🥲

don’t worry all, we’ll still fix it! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
We’ll have to see how it pans out. That’s a decent nerf but CoH is so obscenely strong it may not be enough. I think it should take a bit longer to bless a totem too. Boons are just too time efficient at the moment.
-
You just have to accept that the devs don’t really know what they’re doing when it comes to balance and will probably miss the mark on most things they attempt.
All we can do is keep offering help and hope that something sticks.
-
Not much. Probs a mill. Didn’t feel much different than normal tbh.
-
I’m sure some of the posts are out of frustration but people do quit games all the time and it’s clear that many killers are unhappy.
-
I don’t think Pig is quite weak enough to warrant a nerf, yet.
-
It never ceases to amaze me.
-
Optional voice chat + a ping system would allow the devs to balance the game properly, but they’re dead set against it.
The only reason I see being given most times is that some people don’t want to use voice chat, but they could simply disable it and auto-mute everyone, so I don’t really see it as a good argument.
DBD isn’t a serious game anyway I suppose. I stopped taking it seriously shortly after I started playing when I realised it was mostly a party game. It’s odd that the devs have added an MMR system into a party game that they generally try to avoid balancing.
-
Oh I like this. Here are my ideas for powers:
[Wee Bit OP] Your tenure as a games developer has honed your ability to spot flaws within any design: Instantly nerf a weak survivor of your choice.
[Unhealthy Mechanics] You’ve a particular dislike of unhealthy or problematic game mechanics: Afflict the target survivor with the [Clunky] debuff, making them sluggish and annoying to control…forever!
[Sacred Data] Data is everything. Bend reality to your will; make it take the form of data itself: For the reminder of the trial, all actions of all survivors are nullified. The data suggests that you’ve already won.
😏
-
I agree it would still be a terrible perk without stacks but at least it would be consistently terrible instead of useless.
-
Despite being the strongest killer in the game, Nurse can be consistently beaten by survivors of a similar skill level, and considering how difficult it is to play her at said level I don’t see how it can be argued that she’s overpowered.
When she’s good it can feel unfair as there’s little counterplay other than trying to go down in a favourable position, but you can still win regardless, and if you nerf Nurse you essentially kill her at lower levels due to her initial learning curve.
-
Well, making the game completely unplayable for everyone is certainly one way to deal with the hacking epidemic.
-
That’s what I hate most about DH. The whole point of a chase is to outplay the survivor, but if you do they just press a button and reset. That’s potentially 4 outplays negated every 40 seconds. Pressure is a vital resource, and for it to be stolen so easily and consistently is clearly a problem.
-
Honestly no killer is safe unfortunately. But some are highly unlikely. Then again I thought the same about Wraith. I’d say Trapper is pretty safe though.
-
When I want to do well I almost always run windows but most times it’s still with a meme build.
-
I want to get into Spirit now that she’s been nerfed but I don’t really like playing with headphones on. Killer is already difficult relying on my crappy tv speakers lol.

Swf isn't "op" anyway. As they pointed out in the main post, "only a very coordinated swf" which is far from the *average* swf
SWF is the definition of OP. Just because some people mess about doesn’t change that. I can mess about on Nurse but she’ll still be the strongest killer in the game no matter how badly I do with her.
-
I love a good troll.
-
I like to pretend I see Myers / Ghosty stalking a gen sometimes, can usually get someone to miss a skill check or two 🤪
-
If we are talking mechanical design but disregarding execution, Blight for sure. Imho his power is the best designed in the game.

Yeah.
I'm completely against the removal of the masks, I feel it sends the wrong message (essentially, giving a lot of power to a handful of mean people in that they now know they can force the removal of something that a lot of people really like by using it in a racially provocative manner) and establishes a dangerous precedent. You've basically surrendered to the trolls and the nasties. It's the bloody 'okay' symbol all over again.
I'd bet that the 'racist Bubba' types are cheering inwardly that their trolling has had a definitive effect on the game itself. If I'd been in charge of this, I'd have MAC banned them and called it a day.
That said...it's not my game, and this isn't a hill I'm willing to die on.
You’re absolutely correct and they will see it as a great victory. I know the types. This is what they live for.
-
As a survivor main I honestly couldn’t care less. I’ve got CoH. You guys can proxy camp with Artist to your hearts content and while it will be annoying, it’s perfectly fair game imho. Not the best way to go about balancing a game but this is dbd after all. I’ll take balance seriously when the devs do. Until then all gloves are off. It’s not a serious game anyway, unfortunately.
-
Well, having played many pvp games over the years, DBD has significantly smaller updates than most of them despite being a simpler game with fewer meaningful variables to consider, etc. There are also several long-standing issues BHVR won’t address for whatever reason. It can certainly be argued that they are either lazy, have their priorities out of whack, or are stubbornly following an outdated game-design philosophy.

CoH is one of the most overtuned things I’ve ever seen in a pvp game. Just memeing around with a full boon totem build has won me so many “unwinnable” solo queue games it’s a joke. What’s a killer to do at endgame if you have a boon on the other side of the map? You can just rescue over and over without fear. The killer can’t do a single thing. And that’s the least of it.
-
I do it to let them know that they only downed me because I’m on console.

And we're still like a year or so away from that happening, particularly for Xbox, due to several issues all happening at once.
I agree in something like normal times we would be at the end of support for PS4 and Xbox1 already.
The thing is, for BHVR a year is like nothing at all.
-
It wouldn’t surprise me of they’re waiting for the majority of console players to move over to the new generation so they can shelve the idea altogether.
-
It’s “normal,” unfortunately. The game is just obnoxiously dark on series x. This is the only game I’ve played that genuinely causes me eye strain.
-
It’s weird. I don’t know why everyone is going on about that video as if it proves anything to do with power balance between the two sides. It literally just shows that a particularly talented individual who plays the game full-time as a career, and has a history of setting and achieving against-the-odds challenges, can do well in solo queue if they sweat, even with a handicap.
Doesn’t that already go without saying? 🤯
-
Does that mean Blight is the same on console now or are there still tricks you can only do on pc?
-
When is Claudette getting removed?
-
The whole situation is comically ridiculous.
Removing consistently used and enjoyed content from your game because it was misused a handful of times over the course of 5+ years? That’s mental 😂
Of course it would have taken a bit more work, but simply banning the individuals engaging in harassment is the best option, no? I mean, you can’t literally remove or censor every little thing that could potentially be used to harass someone, right?
Claudette will be next, you’ll see! Oh the irony of it all.

Your privilege is showing. Your claim that the harassment barely happened because YOU personally were unaware of it means literally nothing. Fog Whisperers and streamers have caught video evidence of it happening. It's been documented. Do some research
Ah, of course! The “privilege” buzzword. Your crystal ball is telling you that I’m a privileged individual…I best shut my mouth 😂
The simple reality is the harassment barely happened. It was a few instances over the course of 5+ years. That’s it. To remove content for over 99% of the playerbase over such a niche situation is a huge overreaction no matter how your slice it.
Want to know a better solution? Just ban the individuals engaging in the harassment. Job done! But no. We have to stick a bandaid on it instead, whilst giving the finger to fans of the content.
You can’t censor or remove every little thing that could potentially be used to engage in harassment. It’s literally impossible. The only solution is to have a proper report system in place.
Next we’ll be removing Claudette, you wait and see 🤪
-
The harassment barely happened. Let’s be honest. We are talking about a handful of cases where some douche recognised an opportunity to troll someone, but everyone makes it out to be an epidemic because of a few Reddit/discord screencaps.
Sure, any harassment is bad, but is removing legitimate content from the game appropriate response? A handful of people get priority over the vast majority. We may as well remove Claudette too. Some gimp somewhere has used her to be racist, that’s guaranteed. It’s the same thing, no? Where is the outrage? We need some Reddit screencaps!
I don’t actually care for the masks, but it’s a shame seeing companies bullied into removing content from their games. You have to try to see the funny side though. It’s sort of racist to remove them, right? If you think about it, we are singling out minorities, telling them that they can’t handle it. That’s a sad state of affairs.

Ongoing and deliberate attempts to annoy and frustrate the other person, not to win? Yup, that's what bully squads explicitly set out to do. They even admit it.
About the only saving grace is that it's relatively tricky to consistently stalk one person in DBD and make their experience awful, but I wouldn't put it past people.
Even though it’s besides the point:
Ongoing: That doesn’t just mean while you’re playing a match. It would have to be targeted, over a period of time. You can already be banned for that.
Deliberate: Merely engaging in these actions in a deliberate manner alone is not enough to qualify as bullying. As we have already established, the actions in question are not inherently “bullying” actions. To even have the basis for an argument, you need the full definition, not just parts of it in a vacuum. That’s not how definitions work.

Bullying definition from the national centre against bullying:
"Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening."
All these apply to the situation, especially the social and psychological aspect. How does it being online change things at all? There's plenty of cases of bullying online.
This sounds exactly like what everyone is describing minus the physical aspect. So yes, it is bullying.
"It’s not bullying though, that’s the point." Your point is wrong and detrimental to addressing the issue.
No. They do not apply. It’s a multiplayer video game for adults, about murder. This is not real life and there are no victims. Also not that it makes a difference, but you misunderstand the definition you quoted:
“Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening."
The highlighted words are significant. In fact they’re the most important words in the definition.
Moving on:
Q) Is it also bullying when the killer to kills a survivor? What about hooking them? How about just hitting them?
All of these actions clearly match up to your definition of bullying too. Are you honestly going to tell me, with a straight face, that simply playing the game is bullying?
I have to be blunt here. You’re entitled to your opinion but that doesn’t mean there’s any validity to what you’re saying. Some people will play along with this lunacy, probably out of fear of being labelled “pro bullying” or some other nonsense, but the vast majority know how ridiculous the idea is.
Hitting an imaginary hook in a computer game is not bullying.
Clicking an imaginary flashlight in a computer game is not bullying.
Spamming a crouch animation in a computer game is not bullying.
Camping a player in a computer game is not bullying.
Killing a player in a computer game is not bullying.
Q) Also, how do you account for the fact that you’re not psychic, and have no idea of the intentions of the other player?
There are a plethora of legitimate reasons for all of these so called “bullying”actions that have nothing to do with trying to get a reaction, or being “toxic.”
So how do you define what’s bullying? If it annoys you, is it bullying? If you don’t like it? Would that not be you bullying other people by taking away their options? It sure sounds like it.
Maybe if someone only teabags 3 times, that’s acceptable right? How about 4 though…Yes 4 is the bullying number. Anything 4 or above is problematic.
Same goes for flashlight spamming. 3 clicks maximum if you’re just doing it for fun. 4 clicks or more is bullying territory and should be a bannable offence.
Don’t even get me started on hook hitting. If you hit the hook even one time, you’re a big fat bully. Why else would you do it? You’re clearly engaging in an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm.
Come on now, enough with this lunacy 😂

Bullying online is still bullying. No matter how many times you say people should just get over it there is still another person on the other side.
It’s not bullying though, that’s the point. DBD a computer game. Clicking an imaginary flashlight or spamming a crouch button is not bullying.
People should try and learn to deal with it in a different way because at the end of the day, they are the only ones who give it power. That’s the healthy approach, and it will spill over into other areas of their lives too.
Verbal abuse is a different story entirely. That’s actual bullying. Not hitting an imaginary hook in a computer game about murder.
-
Doing totems is easy, it’s just that people choose not to do them, which I understandable considering you don’t know whether or not the killer has NOED. However, it’s also understandable if someone dies to NOED in the absence of doing totems.
I think people neglect to acknowledge the fact that you can just cleanse NOED once it procs, which again easy to do if you have a rough idea of totem spawns or pay attention to where totems are throughout the course of the match.
Additionally, using NOED means you sacrifice a valuable perk until all generators are completed, which is a significant factor to consider.
Lastly, NOED in most cases will net the killer 1 extra kill unless you play into it.
I really don’t see an issue. It’s probably the weakest second chance perk in the game and can be countered in a number of ways. Just bringing a map renders it useless. Yes, bringing 1 item can negate an entire perk. Not to mention totem perks.

Depending on the context, it's bullying. It doesn't matter if bullying happens on-line or off-line; it's still bullying.
No it is not. Your definition of bullying is extremely flimsy. It’s a computer game, and it’s an imaginary flashlight being clicked. An imaginary hook being hit. Etc. That’s not bulling, no matter how desperately you want to pretend it is.
-
It’s debatable as to whether or the not game is improving. I could just as easily say, why are you so happy with the game despite it getting worse with every update, and it would be just as valid.
-

Or people could not be toxic. There is a real person on the other end which makes it more than just a video game.
No it doesn’t. We are talking about trivial, meaningless nonsense like clicking an imaginary flashlight in a computer game, and trying to twist it into some kind of abuse lol.
However, if you manage to invent a mind control device that can take away people’s free will, maybe you can use it to stop them from engaging in whatever you deem to be “toxic” behaviour.
