Literally take a Trapper, Hillbilly, Wraith or any other Killer not mentioned, and they're pretty relaxing to go against. Those that give the most pressure are the most annoying to go against. Blight may be a good pressuring new Killer, but he's very fun to go against.

I added Huntress to the list because I usually go against REALLY GOOD Huntress mains. And that, my friend, can be super annoying. Imagine constantly being hit by a hatchet across the map. What the hell??

I usually go againts really good Oni players that gives you no chance to escape from their dash.

While I think DS needs some nerfs (Mainly to do with how it can create "lose-lose" situations for the killer where a survivor has DS up, but is doing stuff like divebombing hooks or is working on a generator or totem and hides in a locker when the killer approaches) I think your solution is a bit overkill.

It'd reduce almost all utility for actual anti-tunneling.

I think the concept of it making Iron Grasp and Flip-Flop more useful is neat, though.

Personally I think certain actions should instantly deactivate DS. Almost all of these actions are ones that would directly contribute to "Gamestate progression" such as touching a gen, touching a totem (Especially a lit one), healing someone (Being healed and self-healing is allowed), and starting an unhook. (I don't care what people say, if you follow me to the hook and literally hook-yeet the survivor before his scream animation can even finish, and I grab you with an interrupt, that's not really tunneling,)

I agree,ds is just way too strong right now and it needs a nerf,I still dont understand why they changed the old ds at 45% wiggle progression.I dont think there is another change they could make for it to be balanced.

From what I can tell there are several reasons for which Killers camp:

    • Lack of Experience
    • "Retaliation" because they got rekt the game before
    • "Retaliation for BM (or percieved BM)
    • "Retaliation" because the Survivor used a perk the camper doesn´t like
    • Last resort tactic in a losing game in hopes of being able to capitalise on altruism
    • Endgame : In you example it may have worked, but usually they will position themselves well to be able to safe as soon as the critical range to the hook has been reached by the Killer. Depends on maps etc too, in my ecperience giving the last hook up to give chase more often than not ends up in losing both

It only worked because I immediatly left the hook after and forced the survivor to get back and leave, else I either get 1 extra hook and potentially kill everyone because even in the endgame after all gens are done and gates powered, you can still put pressure on them if you dont stay idle, camping the hook.

  • i'm sorry but its an easy perk to play around once you figure it out,in ptb people dont even play seriously, wait until the update goes live and see how bad it is actually

    • Rewards killers for active and smart gameplay like defending objectives or constantly moving around the map applying pressure
    • Punishes killers for passive gameplay - 2+ perks wasted if killer tunnel visions someone or camps
    • Creates a secondary, but not mandatory objective for survivors - you can do bones and do gens easier or forget about bones and have to finish generators in one touch.
    • Makes games generally longer which gives more opportunity for everyone to have fun.

Let this stay, thanks. This combo isn't broken or overpowered, people are crying only because they don't want to adapt to it.

I totally agree, only lazy survivors have something againts undying,if anything it makes the games more interesting like they're supposed to be.

I don't exactly know how to call this, but it left a really sour taste in my mouth.

I recently started playing DBD, circa a month and a half ago. I am a Solo survivor main currently on Rank 8 due to, I assume, my inherent capacity to remain hidden from the killer and being Objective focused. I have come to understand the nature of the game, you will survive some games, you will die in other games. Sometimes the killers camp or tunnel (deliberately or accidentally). Sometimes, you get a very uncoordinated team and nothing will get done or I am going to die on first hook. It happens, its the nature of the game. I can't blame anyone for doing what they think it's the best idea.

I've seen people complaint about toxic players, but this really took the crown as far as I've played. I go in Solo and start the match with another Survivor. We find a gen and complete it. As soon as we do, the killer comes in for us.

Since the very beginning we were uncoordinated, but we tried. The other player I found and me tried to coordinate efforts and finished another gen. The Killer brought a mori and killed one of the players so, by the end we were only three players and two gens left to do. I start working on a gen, the killer finds me chases me away... I try to work on another and the same happens. It's nothing serious, I think, just a dragging on game. Finally, Killer kills the survivor I did gens with so it's just me and another player to do four gens and I think "Well, we are not going to survive this". I find a key in a chest and think I can open the hatch if I find it, but still try to do another gen instead of just escaping (I rarely find the Hatch by myself prior endgame anyway) and I find the last remaining survivor. They start pointing at me. I stupidly assume they are trying to show me something, but the Killer comes and I run away. I find the survivor again and the same happens a few times until the Legion downs me and gives me a mori.

On chat, the player blasts at me and the others for being "useless" and "not getting anything done" (they used more colourful language) and then thanks the killer for letting them take the hatch since they didn't deserve to lose rank (they were Rank 4) for being paired with "bad players". It was then when I realised they were pointing at me to tell the killer were I was using their Empathy perk. The Killer didn't say anything and just left the chat and I promptly commented that if anyone had the right to complaint was the survivor that outscored all of us (the other player I was doing gens with).

TLDR; to sum it up, a teammate blamed their bad playing onto me and used Empathy to tell the Killer were I was so they could kill me and then take the Hatch then insulted me and the other players on chat.

Is this how Survivors in higher ranks play? Because this is surely toxic as hell.

hole mother of god, this is so freakin scummy, sorry this happened to you, this is why I dont play soloq,I rather wait until I find 3 other friends or make friends to play dbd with than go with soloq scums, and trust me,most people in soloq are trolls, scums, noobs or just borderilen psychotic toxic players, its really that bad in this game,if anyone reads this, please dont go soloq, get some friends and have fun together, its not worth your mental health

  • I mean the fact moris,ds,iri heads, maps like the game, hawking and lery haven't been touched yet should be a pretty good sign of it,maybe they didn't have time and gonna do it in the future, hopefully, along with mmr matchmaking,dc penalty, and camping penalty.

    @FirePhoenix115 said:

Now let me say first off that i don't think that stuff should be nerfed or buffed just because a vocal minority says so.

What i do think is that all the balancing that has been done so far and is still going on on the PTB is stuff aimed at people between the ranks of 13-6.

You guys have the ''fog whisperers'' and some of those are extremely knowledgeable players that play both survivor and killer and have some very fair complaints and criticism.

I'm not saying killer or survivor is the strongest right now because both suffer from pretty bad balancing depending on the situation.

    For example:

-DS and BT are one of the if not the most used perk right now, they didn't get balanced for almost half a year now

-Some killers (let's use spirit as an example) are way stronger than every other killer due to their mobility or impossible mind games for the survivors

-Some killers barely see the light of day and fairly so because they are just way weaker than average (example, pig, legion and deathslinger). when they do get picked it's mostly for the enjoyment of their abilities and not because of their viability

-In my personal opinion i also believe that gen speed is a bit too fast and that opinion does get shared by some other more experienced players than me.

These are just some of the biggest points that i can think of right now but my point is that these are issues that are clear as day and are also very common complaints from both sides so this all boils down to 1 question i have.

Are the people that do the balancing really that disconnected from the state of the game because they have a group of very smart fog whisperers from which i'm sure they can get some proper feedback if asked.

The reason i made a post like this is because i enjoy the game a lot and play it daily without exception and i hate to see it like this.

Also many points you had are just silly,I think gen speed is just right the way it is know, and if you think deathslinger is a weak killer, weaker than wraith or trapper,or pig, ghostface, you're in a world of wrong mate.

  • I have no respect for survivor that dc out of nothing, and the ones that kill themselves on hook and feed themselves to the killer for no reason? You know why BHVR babysits survivors so much, because they got used to it,they are a bunch of babies,I really tried my best to make soloq sufferable but its just the most unfun experience I ever had in a game, respect to the legend survivor who never do that especially the ones that can still play good without crutch meta perks like ds,dead hard.

  • Did watched Jen a bit on twitch, she ended up letting herself killed by the killer for no reason,I really dont understand this toxic survivor behaviour.

  • @thisisntmax said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1645782#Comment_1645782

There was penalty and survivors abused it, also you can punish him by doing gens. If survivors swarm the hook why would killer leave it? I mean I'm not gonna pretend u aren't there and give free unhook

This will determine both teams to either do gens if killers camps,or go for the save if killer goes for the gens and find other survivors.

  • @Maperson said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1645225#Comment_1645225

I think you know that it's not how it works, they could easily abuse that idea

Either way, there has to be a penalty for camping.

  • I didn't,I've come across really good killer and survivors playing on console, honestly the difference isn't that big.

  • You people need to chill, can you not take everything over proportions all the time?Nerfed?nah more like pyramid head is more skill based anymore and not anymore m1 spam for easy down. His power always seemed too op because if you vault he gets you with his power,if you dont vault,he gets you with his m1,if you think that wasn't something that needed some tweaking you are just wrong.

  • @Maperson said:

And what if survivors swarm the hook?

    They die?

  • @OllieHellhunter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1645107#Comment_1645107

it is currently a bad play yet people still do it however if it would extend the hook time aswell as increase other survivors action speeds then it would in a lot of cases be beneficial to do it. as youre relieving pressure off those doing gens.

If you wanna loop a killer exactly in the hook penalty zone, you wont last for long.So I think it will benefit the killer more in the end.

  • @OllieHellhunter said:

Sounds similar to a lot of other suggestions, and sounds good on paper, but what stops survivors just looping the killer around the hook?

The fact they need to do gens and from what I know, looping the killers around hooks is just overall bad.

  • I honestly dont mind the pop change, its not really a big deal, and this will make killers go for gens more when having pop,I've seen so many killers running pop running around without a care because they had 1 minute to decide what gen to pop,if they wanna chase and everything,I honestly like all the upcoming changes in the ptb and hope more perks and maps will be reworked,a step in the right direction if you ask me,still waiting for that ds nerf and all the survivor meta perks that haven't been properly balanced in the past.

  • Its not really a nerf but I guess some people cant read or they understand only what they want.

  • @Peanits said:

That usually happens if a file is corrupted during an update. It's easy enough to fix, you'll just need to verify the game files: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

After that, you should be fine.

As a side note, you don't have anything to worry about. You won't be banned for that, the game is just recognizing that there's missing or corrupted files and preventing you from playing.

I was just disconected in the late game of a match because of the new update, good to know from now on to verify the files after a new update.

  • @GoshJosh said:

Huh? Lock three perk slots in order to create "room for diversity"... got it.

    Hard pass.

Well its more diversity than seeing everyone running ds,dead hard, unbreakable, adrenaline every game I guess.

  • @Auron471 said:

thanatophobia, makes survivors afraid of death, so they will stop doing gens and heal instead

That means you can just stop them from healing, that means they can neither do gens or heal,so while chasing, you know generator speed will be much slower.

  • I honestly think undying is good for the game, survivor grew too lazy, never doing totems unless they see a light up one, this will make them cleanse totems more and that's a good thing, and before you say i'm a biased killer main I play survivor just as much as killer .

  • You probably cant see his potential yet but its alright,he's still pretty new.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

I’ve had my fun with Blight, but no other killer feels as “right” in my hands as Clown.

Far too many times as Blight where I’ve come up short and I’ve thought “if I were playing Clown right now...”

    • I can cut survivors off between tiles (or restrict options) and get hits in just like Blight, BUT i’m not restricted in my ability to hit the survivor.
    • Clown’s power is more dangerous than Blights at loops, and I don’t have to risk losing sight of a survivor or over shooting.
    • I just really don’t need to be travelling to opposite sides of the map quickly as Clown.

Well thanks Blight but I’m shelving you as an “every now and then” killer. I’ve had too many chases where I’ve missed a hit and thought “I wouldn’t have had this problem as Clown”

Always go back to your main man,I used to main doctor because I really enjoy playing him,but recently I got back to wraith and i'm having a blast.

Is it just me or is this map, in comparison to all maps released after it, pretty godamn boring?

I actually love snow themes in pretty much all games, but idk, i had the map a few times yesterday and i just find it so boring compared to other maps, i can't explain why really.

Idk, maybe y'all can make sense of my problem with it.

I love it because its the only actually day map with snow,to me is one of the most fun maps to play, hell even on killer.

  • Lol I hope this game will never be free, its not that expensive anyway, this game being free will ruin it for good, since cheaters already exist and pretty hard to deal with.I agree with the game not being free, the only thing I would like is a way for players to obtain licensed killers or auric cells without irl money.Like grinding.

  • @Pawcelot said:

    1. Camping actually does hurt killers by draining their points and making it harder for them to rank up. However, since most players seem to be incapable of actually NOT saving, and therefore rewarding the camping killer by trying, camping won't go away anytime soon. Speaking of that, did you know BHVR actually tried punishing killers who stay near hooks by slowing down the sacrificial process? It was abused by survivors so they removed it.
    2. Killers get more points by default because they're the one who stays the longest in a match. It helps that all of their BP categories involve survivors. Survivors only get a lot of BP if they escape the trial, as one category is basically locked behind if you escaped or not. If you make it so that survivors can gain as much BP as the killer for doing less, then people will stop playing Killer.
    3. Playing solo survivor is the hardest experience Dead by Daylight can provide. There's a reason why SWF is popular. If you find it too hard, find some friends or join the DbD Discord to find people to play with.

Yes,camping hurts everyone in a match, the penalty should be different, like literally force the killer to leave the hook and pressure gens.

  • @Avarice10 said:

It shouldn't be brought back, it can be abused, killers can hold a survivor hostage and force them to dc so they eat a ban, it's not a good idea and no one wants to eat a 72 hr ban because of a hacker. A killer once dc'ed and I ate the ban too even though they left the match.

do you even realise that without dc penalty you can just leave the game with no repercusions and fk up the game for everyone else, and that's just a bug not intented. If onlt they would fix it faster.

  • @Axe said:

They need to solve that hack issue that keep happening towards streamers where they get locked out for 72 hours

Too many issues with this game, too little solved.

  • What people from the community actually work on dbd that way? Also BHVR would never allow that because its BHVR,dont compare Valve that's not only getting that for TF2 but also they legit allowed a community manager team to push a huge l4d 2 update soon.So yeah, huge difference.

Trust me man, I know the pain. Earlier in the AM, I had a match against Doc in The Game. I had not gotten hooked all match and was saving everyone/healing them/doing gens. We have 1 more generator left that was at 95% until the Doctor comes and he starts chasing us off the gen. I was injured while the other two survivors were healthy so he starts chasing me. I try to take the doc away from the last gen thinking the other two would stay to finish it, but nope! I get downed and he hooks me in front of that generator and see the other two survivor auras across the map.

They did not stay to commit to finishing it for some reason and gave the doctor a reason not to leave my hook or the almost completed gen that was regressing. I don't blame the doctor because that was the smartest play he could do. 1st hook of the match and I go into struggle and barely get saved. While I'm hooked I'm thinking OK maybe they are not going to save me because he is sticking around the hook, so they SHOULD work on another gen right? Nope. All 3 just stand there not doing anything.

Eventually I get saved and finish another gen by myself because the other 3 survivors refused to do anything afterwards.

This is in red ranks btw...

    This,soloq is pretty much unplayable.

  • @YokaiPhaseshift said:

When the new generators were released I was super stoked! They were gorgeous, I loved all of the new survivor animations of them fiddling with wires, pulling levers, twisting pipes, and more. And I thought the new sound design was great too; keeping the same progession noises but adding new sounds for each of the different pieces a survivor could mess with while they worked. They all melded together nicely to give this rich and detailed sound when multiple survivors were working together.

Today my game updated, and with that update came new sound effects to the generators. Specifically loud, grating, engine-revving sound effects. I get the effect the devs are trying to acheive, but I honestly don't like them. They occur way too frequently, and they are loud enough that they drown out all of the other, more interesting sound effects.

If there was an issue with the gen noises before, ie. They were too quiet for killers, then make the other sounds louder, that's fine. But it feels like all of the nuanced, subtle sound effects that were added in are pointless now, because I can hardly hear them over the screeching engine revving.

Would love to hear other people's thoughts on this as well.

I agree, oddly enough it also affects my skill check reaction, with all those engine noises rattling around that are pretty loud,I have an ever harder now.Not to mention when you get 10 skill checks in the spam of few seconds.

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Spaces my guy. They make posts actually legible.

As for your problem, that's just solo-queue in general. Although your version is an exaggeration of that experience.

It is RARE to see someone blow up a generator at purple ranks. Hardly any of them bring a torch. If they aren't using Sprint Burst, then there's very little reason to NOT run. And unless they're going a specific challenge, or have RESILIENCE then they'll usually let you heal them.

Its legible as long as you know how to read, sorry if you have problems with that.

  • @nick_larking said:

Playing as solo survivor is far more relaxed and easy than playing killer (both at red ranks). Ye occasionally you might get camped or 1hooked if you dont pick that one perk. if i play with a friend; Hell, even with a literal potato for friend she can stall the killer long enough just by instantly throwing down pallets lol.

Yeah,I agree to this, playing killer is buttclenching which is hilarious,it should be the other way, killer be scary and be buttclenching for survivor, but in dbd its the other way around, this game is such a chaotic mess lol

Oh boy here it is. Play Wraith into a team that clearly wasn't tournament-minded and all of a sudden Wraith is viable.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1617881#Comment_1617881

    Basically this.

Plus the ruleset made no sense. "Let's kill ourselves because hook states don't count for points but gens count for 2! Let's bleed out on the ground because it awards no points!" Nice.

The tournament's been entertaining to watch from other perspectives. That's about it.

not to mention that map was so situational for wraith,if it was any other map the outcome would have been different

it’s cool they did it, but bhvr themselves need to add support for it to go anywhere

Maybe in the future, but knowing BHVR,that's too much work.

  • @RakimSockem said:

It honestly is easier and more relaxing for me. I only have to worry about my choices and I affect how my game goes. Also, there's nothing survivors can do to stop me from having fun.

Meanwhile when I play as survivor, my fun can be ruined by getting tunneled, camped, slugged, or while i'm looping a killer for what should be 2 or 3 gens, my teammates are looting chests, saboing hooks, running after the killer waiting for a flashlight save and just overall making stupid ass choices. So even if I play an amazing game, I can still die with 4 gens left because my teammates did nothing.

    Yes,I totally agree with this.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/191335/my-thoughts-about-dbd-tournament

While survivors complain about Camping and Tunneling which are both legit strats of course, Killer complain about genrush all the time. It goes both ways.

You know what my thoughts are right now after seeing round 2 (No suprise for me, but for many apparently):

The only argument killer mains bring all the time are "SWF are OP" and this tournament shows that not even that is true. Killer are dominating, most games 2 or more kills. Even Wraith and Plague can destroy the best of the best teams on coms.

True,in tournament I was surprised to see so many nurses, but it kinda makes sense, nurse can be crazy good in the hands of right players but crazy bad in the hands of a casual player that does good with an m1 killer for example. Also I think the fact survivors we're not allowed to have more than 2ds per match was a huge factor, either way genrush is what you ultimately have to do as a survivor, this is why i'm frustrated when I play soloq as survivor,no one does gens, they just run around until they get downed then the other 2 survivors run around to go for the save and get downed as well, lol.

1 2 3 4 … 11
