  • are you in the red or purple ranks?

they may have increased the requirements at the higher end of the match making to try balance out the good from the bad (not saying your bad just impacted by their change) and it might be overtuned and overall spread the ranks alittle better

I've come up with a very simple and easy solution!

    Run Detective's Hunch.

It is objectively better at finding totems and even reveals chests and gens + it adds them to your map if you have one.

As for locating traps, the chances of going against a trap-based killer is 1 out of 11, that's not alot, and that's just assuming that everyone plays every killer equally as much, Trapper and Hag are fairly unpopular killers, Freddy and Demo don't count because snares (I've never in my life encountered a dream pallet Freddy, and I've seen alot of Freddys) and portals are so easy to spot anyways.

actually 3 out of 11, freddy pallets and hag use traps to

  • went up against a nurse once who couldnt land a hit on me, even stunned her when she fatigued since i got her to stop just right on a pallet, she decided i NEEDED to be tunneled at that point, only medal i got that match was for chases because i had no room to do anything else, the only hook she managed to get was on a king who happened to cross our paths during endgame, she had NOED so unfortunately he was camped hard.

after match guy tried to say "gg ez" on the one kill she secured at the end, so i told him "if you call getting about 9k points a win ok i guess?", this clearly angered him because suddenly he started insulting me in polish so i just reported him and moved on.

not the most amazing match but it still lingers with me a year later because i was proud i could completely stop nurse winning a game due to knowing how to mess with his blinks

I love what they've done with the portraits and hook counter but everything else is just atrocious. Just move it back to one corner of the screen and everyone will live in peace and harmony

i think part of the problem most are having with the UI is years of game playing has formed a sort of unwritten law where most of the hud is ment to be along the bottom of the screen while health bars, minimaps and timers go on the top of the screen.

part of why i have issues with the top left is due to this sort of hard coded habbit

  • lockers are not a safety zone they are death traps.

most killers will search lockers immediately when they cant find you, at the start i would think these are safety zones till after 5 grabs back to back

  • remember that one topic that made you cringe about the guy and his anime figures?

yeah thats what this reminds me of.

  • encouraging the self unhooks which usually screws over everyone else with their selfish gamble?

    nah i disprove.

what they need to do is if the killer lingers close and no survivors are in the heartbeat range, the hook will actually slow down even more forcing the killer to either commit to that one death while losing ALL generators or actually go play the game.

likewise if that still doesnt stop the 1hook face camps? the player on the hook who's progress is being slowed due to killer proximity will actively siphon the points from the killer as punishment from the displeased entity

Where you a solo? Damn dude this is the kind of ######### that makes solo q unbearable. You quit as soon as the game started? 3v1 against an iri head Huntress. Thanks teammate.

i only play solo, yes that sucks but if the game is going to BS me im going to BS it and do something else with my time and not let the game get me angry, i went and played fallout 3+NV when i left, seriously if the game is going to pull crap like that im not sticking around to get tilted i'd rather just cut my losses and call that game session over and play something less enraging

  • spawned just outside spinechill range from a huntress, we both spawned facing eachother so as soon as the match started i got iridescent hatchet downed.

fun stuff, and yes i did ragequit after such a BS spawn.

  • decided to log in to put in my opinion.

this game for solo survivor will always be bad as long as the gap between SWF groups and solo is as big as it is.

SWF with comms basically gives you a built in freebie: Kindred, Bond, OoO, Small Game, Dejavu, and several others i cant remember the name of off head.

to get that same advantage a solo survivors currently needs about 7-8 more perk slots.

    the gap IS that big.

then theres taking into account that some survivors might outright troll you, sandbag you, do nothing and farm you which actively works AGAINST you as a solo playing making the game a 3v2 or in some sickening situations where a 3 man dislikes the solo a 1v3v1.

then you take into account survivors who rage quit on the first hook/suicide just because they got caught within seconds or dislike the killer forcing a 3v1 before a single generator is even done, but at least this one has a solution.

remove the ability to kobe off the hook unless you have a perk which make the base chance 25% so at least if they truly build for it atleast then it'll be understandable that they fail the dice roll. with the current mechanic of 4% chance with 3 tries more often than not the survivor will just use all 3, immediately go to phase 2 of the hook then rage quit by not pressing struggle.

changing the struggle phase into a hold button to give up wouldnt solve the core issue but at least you can design it so that those who give up automatically complete a generator (unless its the last one) granting the other survivors the blood points for pity sake and the sacrificed player can at least gain a pity penny.

TL:DR = close the gap between SWF and solo as well as changing hook mechanics to disallow suicide/trolling by removing kobe escapes unless you perk for it and change struggle so that if you give up it completes a generator so the remaining survivors at least stand a chance.

  • could you elaborate please?

  • @RaginRendon said:

What is the best way you think the devs can go about this?

logged into to post after reading a genuine concern.

the only way they are going to bridge the gap between SWF and solo atm is "free" perks while solo, as in if you are solo you get Kindred, a weaker Bond perk, a weaker version of left behind (half the hatch finding distance) and a weaker slippery meat that basically tries to escape once free of charge just before going to phase 2 of the hook with a 15% success rate not stackable or buffable by other sources.

then just disable them as more pople join a party so if you are a 2man party the slippery meat and left behind are disabled and if you are a 4man party ALL of them are disabled for you.

the reason i say these 4 perks in particular is that most solo players need to run defensive perks just to stand a chance at not being removed or farmed by the other survivors in that game and without the "hive mind" voice comms most SWF come with they lack most information.

by making these 4 perks baseline while solo the solo survivor stands a better chance at enjoying the game, after all how many games have YOU had where you are playing solo, get hooked after a 2minute chase and see 3 players coming directly towards you with a stealthed killer? with the baseline kindred this would put off those greedy little parasite survivors by showing them your not alone while also making your solo sacrifice play feel rewarding.

these 4 perks also dont tend to help SWF players anyways so end up not being used at all by them so only fitting that those same perks would be more useful to a solo player than a party.

That's your argument for defending against a mori? Dont get caught? Then heres my advice for keys then. Dont let gens get done. Your argument is garbage dude.

theres a big focus on stealth in the game, the fact you can HEAR and SEE the killer before you even encounter them and the fact there are many ways to avoid LoS via walls, corridors, lockers, shrubbery, etc further puts this big emphesis on stealth.

this is what helps you not get caught.

there are 4 of you, if one is being chased thats 3 free players to go do gens.

if you suspect the killer is camping a mori? rush all of the gens, by the time he gets his kill from a hook he's already wasting his game, he is punished for not applying pressure his item gave him.

meanwhile people with keys are REWARDED for mistakes by having ANOTHER chance at escape and can FURTHER be rewarded by the RNG gods by having a key from a chest.

the "hurr durr you gotta do gens" argument holds no water when its so easy to get 3 gens done before a single player is hooked.

  • @azame said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1806849#Comment_1806849

They arent comparable because moris have nothing you can do to hender or stop them. You have no franklins as survivor. You also cant see when a killer brings one til the match loads. Moris are stronger that's why they got nerfed first lol.

    uhhhh wut?

mori's punish you for being careless.

careless survivors are those who dont respect the danger a mori brings.

you stall or even prevent a mori by not getting hooked. something thats pretty doable against most killers minus a god nurse or spirit.

meanwhile how do you prevent a 4 man key escape beyond running franklin at all times in case chests give a key?

oh did we forget that you can earn the survivor equivilant of a mori DURING a game so you cant even predict it? survivors are the only ones who can pick up a key or 3 via RNG DURING a match AND USE IT DURING SAID MATCH.

    "counter play" that.

  • rather than nerfing the mori the way they did (making them near useless) they should have worked like most stack perks.

either you get 1 free kill with green after 2 hooks on ANY survivor (so hooking any 2 players = mori next victim you down) and pink being that you may kill one player after one hook and a second player after 3 hooks

    OR

they should have had max charges in the old form so green = 1 mori, pink = 2.

as it stands right now with the new mori requirement unless you play a meta killer in a meta build against sub par survivors you will never get any use from a mori because 1 chase = 1 or 2 minutes of chase vs decent survivors in which by the time you hook THAT survivor once, the other 3 have likely done 2 or even 3 gens, by the time you hook that same person a second time on a not so meta killer you will already be on your last gen.

and to put icing on the bull crap cake, mori takes much longer than a simple hook meaning that extra time for a "wicked sick nasty animation bro!" kill will likely cost you 3 escapes.

mori is more or less a self imposed handicap now.

meanwhile keys can win a 4 man escape if the team are lucky enough to find eachother or an orginized SWF group rush the hatch as soon as it spawns.

What if there was a perk that tiered up while in chase similar to bloodlust BUT the stacks created a global gen slowdown for the other Survivors?

Landing a hit would cause all stacks to disappear and it might take 5 seconds in chase for the stacks to start accumulating. The numbers for the slowdown could be pretty strong say maybe 10% per tier. Maxing out at three stacks.

It sounds a little strong, but the only Killers that would be able to use it would be the weaker Killers like Clown, Pig, Wraith, Trapper and Ghost Face. Because its a perk that helps out Killers that can't end chases quickly by giving them some reward for committing to long chases. The Killers that can get downs and hits relatively quickly would have no use for the perk.

why a perk, this should be baseline i mean this would encourage each survivor to try and take turns in chase then because chases would likely last longer and thus likely cap out.

if anything the chases should slow down gens by default and increases by 2% slowdown per 10 seconds in chase and bloodlusting increases this slowdown by 3% per 10 seconds (up to a maximum of 75% slowdown) this would also encourage an infinite looper to actually get caught eventually otherwise the game will go on far to damn long while buying those not so good killers much needed pressure time.

failing that they should apply a 2minute debuff at the start that slows down generator progress my 25%, 50% if 2 repair a gen, 65% if 3 and finally 85% if 4 repair a generator while this debuff exist but the debuff expires early if you manage to hook a survivor. this would allow for setup killers to have their needed time, survivors would be encouraged to actually do bones and killers who end games very fast could break their own debuff by landing a hook, survivors would also gain the tactical option of actually alloying themselves to get hooked to remove the debuff early at the risk of dying.

Since when could you get voted out as killer and just lose instantly on dbd?

Last time i checked, someone saying "Hey the killer is X (something you probably would have known in 5 seconds even without comms" didn't make you instantly lose

if you bothered to read i explained why comms destroys the game balance.

  • @calem said:

This is probably the most bizarre thing I've seen as killer so far. In the lobby, I noticed they all had ttv names and I checked their streams. They were all on comms with each other, had 2000+ hours each in the game (2 of them had over 4000), the usual stuff you see.

I loaded in Badham Preschool II as Slinger. I downed a Kate pretty quickly, hooked her, one of them dc's, the Kate then dc's. The Steve and Feng then come and find me to point at the hook. I figured everyone wants this game over. I hook Steve who dc's while on the hook, and hook Feng who dies instantly.

I went into one of their streams to ask: Why did everyone DC?

Apparently, they only DC when playing against Slinger. The reason being, "he is unfun to play against". Now, don't get me wrong, I completely understand where they come from when saying this. It's near impossible to react to Slinger's ADS insta-shoot, and you can gain distance on him simply by holding it up. But then they said he is "unfair". This is where I disagree and I think most will too. Is Slinger strong in a chase? Yeah, there is no denying that. But he is evened out in his insane lack of map pressure. He's a 110% move speed killer with no map pressure. They were all comms together, one of them had Prove Thyself, it would not have been hard at all to gen rush me (it was a Preschool map so it was large).

I watched the stream for another game just to see what they behave like, and it's honestly quite pathetic. They went against a Forever Freddy (Swing Chains, Jump Rope, Thana, Dying Light, Sloppy) and said that THIS game would be more fun than a Slinger. They proceeded to gen rush a Forever Freddy with the Prove Thyself.

My question for everyone is this: What do YOU think about Slinger? Is he fun to play against? Is he fair to play against? Do you think DC'ing against every x killer you play against is pathetic behaviour, especially on stream?

TL;DR 4 salty streamers on comms DC'd solely because I played Slinger who is apparently "unfun and unfair", but Forever Freddy is acceptable.

    how orgasmic was this?

treasure the moment for it will be your eternal bliss

let's just say the rules have been bent.

    It's a level playing field.

And I take it you favor Freddy over Myers?

well if were bending rules just to allow some killers to exist physically and such Freddy loses, without the Dream world he's just a frail old pe... erm old toasted guy where as Micheal is a juggernaut who barely seems to notice pain.

nurse can float/wall phase so hag wouldnt be able to land a hit.

clown might be a sexy chunker but how can he compete with a drugged up loony?

demo is killable by mortal means, Phead isn't, i mean hell you can chop, explode or even lava melt him and he keeps coming back.

ghosty would beat piggy in a game of stealth and wits, sure piggy can get ahold of people without being caught but it takes a true expert to willingly leave a trail and still not get caught, even so much as to leave evidence for them to help find him.

legion would just break down and cry to the shock therapy, i mean most of them are just late teens and teens are very well known for breaking down crying over the most trivial things so an actual torture session would break them where as doc literally does his own surgery to load himself full of eletricals and such to enhance is own body.

plague cant do much beyond slap you with a lantern if your already a deadboi so immune to sickness

huntress vs trapper, oni vs spirit and the chainsaw bros would defiantly be a far less obvious one and im unsure who would fair better in those

Technically the dream world is a part of Freddy's power, so it is not included in this.

if that is the case Freddy couldnt be appart of the turny because he himself is a nightmare same as Phead being a projection of James' psyche

  • Freddy Krueger would win every time because he's a dream and there for always has the advantage of fighting in his realm because everything living sleeps, the only two who might stand a chance is spirit and wraith and thats only cause they are spooky ghosts and even then because they are ghosts they dont sleep but rather get laid to rest EVENTUALLY where as Freddy will forever remain a Nightmare because hell itself rejected him.

unless we are allowing satanic illusions and projections as candidates that can fight nightmares, in which case Phead would probably be his only worthy competition since he is a figment of imagination made real so imaginary is kind of like dreaming? but thats stretching it.

only other slasher who was rejected by hell was Jason Voorhees and thats if i recall because he refused to stay dead.

Umm. It’s not the same thing because on DBD the survivor’s job isn’t to figure out who has been doing the killing. It is to repair gens or distract the killer long enough.

You have a much higher chance to cheat in Among Us because finding out who the killer is IS your objective. On DBD you already know who the killer is you can figure out what they have. Found a hex near shack? Oh well I know it spawns there too, don’t need comms.

This is probably the worst comparison I have seen.

did you actually read the post? i wasn't comparing the playstyle i was comparing how information transmission via voice comms kills a huge part of the game.

and i even specifically pointed out for Among us its incurable because of how the game is mechanically while with DbD it CAN be alleviated.

i feel like a lot of the people making the same "how can you compare them" comment are not reading the explanation WHY i made the comparison and im getting close to making a TL:DR just so people will actually MAYBE read something but again if they aren't willing to read the first 2 paragrapsh are they going to be bothered to read a single line summery?

Never before cross play on PS4 had I seen so many profile names ranging from inappropriate to downright appalling and hateful.

I’m just guessing it’s PC via logical deduction because PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo have pretty thorough profanity filters, and a user has to get very creative and abstract in order to bypass those respective profanity filter. And even then they’re usually easy to report (on PS4 for PS4 profiles at least).

Why does steam (I’m guessing Steam) allow free reign on all the vile language known to man to be used for a publicly displayed profile name?!

because steam doesnt know how to filter player user names, sure they are censored on the steam profile pages but in game they are as clear as day.

  • @azame said:

I find it very hard to believe the devs are "survivor sided" or have a "survivor bias." I get killers need buffs and some killers need reworks but damn stuff on the killer side needs nerfs as well. 1 nerf does not mean the devs care more about the survivors.

I'm going to keep making this point until it sticks. Since patch 2.0 it's been a nerf for survivors nearly every patch. How is that survivor bias? The pop nerf I dont think its needed but it makes sense. The devs have to rework ds not just decrease the timer thats why it wasnt changed yet.

One more thing if the devs are really all for survivors why have all items and add ons excluding fire crackers, keys and their addons(soon to be nerfed) been nerfed?

    That's all.

I'm making this edit because people also say the devs are killer sided if they so something in favor of killers. So my new conclusion is if you say the devs are bias towars any side you are very much wrong.

when the survivor side can go 4 man no voice comms 0 perks or items and still stomp a game. you know theres a balance issue.

  • whooo thats a lot of replies while i slept.

ok to summerize what i mean with comms does break DbD not AS bad as in Among us i will admit but to the point where its no longer the same game anymore as for example if your enemy is suddenly a hivemind (voice comms announcing everything to eachother) killers like trapper, piggy, plague and wraith become so bad they are borderline useless because your power heavily relies on the disconnect of your enemies not knowing everything.

for example if i go trapper, i let the enemy get 2 gens while i setup, whatever typical trapper stuff but then even during chases nobody is getting into traps and then i SEE someone running towards one hidden just around the corner of a loop but suddenly he kneejerk reactions the other direction before he's even made the turn you will soon start to realize they knew where all your traps were because everyone told eachother "trap at shack, trap in grass near loop", etc so you now basically lose your power because without detection perks (i'll explain more in a sec) they still know where everything is rendering you into a mindless follow and slash killer or m1 only as its known.

now if you think Voice comms still doesnt break both games to the point of being nearly impossible to play (i mean you still get those really bad survivors even with every second chance perk and full map knowledge they still do stupid plays), almost 40% or so of perks survivors have are based around if killer does X, then killer aura is revealed or survivor does X killer/survivors are revealed for this example we'll use fengs pallet insight, if the killer breaks a pallet you see where he is for a few seconds ANYWHERE on the map, this is an information perk, OoO is an information perk, bond is an information perk, buckle-up is an information perk, spinechill is an information perk, etc.

now imagine having almost all of these perks baseline just because you can talk over a microphone which these perks were CLEARLY not built around because they have conditions that need to be met to share the information. you nearly have 50% of the survivors perks built into your play just because you are SWF, now its upto the players themselves to exploit this knowledge and share it, a smart or swat SWF WILL use all of this information, i'v seen some seriously disturbing swat SWF groups completely floor even the best of freddies or spirits, some of them to the point they will run ZERO perks because they are dabbing on people to show how strongly coordinated their plays are, coordination only achievable due to the hive minding that is voice comms.

now if that doesnt sound like voice comms is game breaking then you are likely part of the problem or in denial.

the game needs voice comms built in at this point so the game can be balanced accordingly, even if not everyone uses voice comms, adaptive perks (as suggested in first op) specifically for those solo players is an option and anyone in a SWF not using voice comms at that point are choosing to ignore their advantage (consider it hardmode) and even if this becomes another area for toxicity, honestly this would be more tolerable than the end game chats many SWF tend to dump on people just because they have the Neapolitan complex.

Survivors who are repairing Generators within your Terror Radius reveal their Aura.

Survivors who stop repairing Generators within your Terror Radius reveal their Aura for 1/2/3 second(s).

that would be pretty broken on something like spirit.

now if we make it so while within your terror radius repairing for 3 seconds reveals them im cool because this would make it hard for spirit but better for everyone else

Voice comms makes Among Us playable. Public solo matches are so unbelievably garbage. More DCs than a full day of playing DBD. And no I didn't read your short novella on your thoughts once you said there's be no tldr.

i disagree i have quite the blast playing Among us with just text chat.

well if you didnt read it then i wont bother explaining that i listed solo survivor buffs, SWF adaptive nerfs and specific killer adaptive buffs depending on how big of a SWF group you would be against or that for each SWF in the game the solo survivor or killer gets a bloodpoint boost.

i mean it be a waste since you didnt read ;)

  • @SquirrelKnight said:

The funny thing is this is totally accurate. Except most groups of friends in among us keep knowledge to themselves. Look at streamers of the two games and notice a differenrince

this is mostly due to bias gameplay, i mean would you wanna be the "boring" friend if you just ruin it by telling when one of your group is the impostor? no because thats a buzzkill.

now with SWF they share all this information because the killer is NOT part of your little friend circle, so they dont mind making it easier for themselves by sharing everything because none of THEM are impacted by the buzzkill while the random killer guy IS.

hence why in Among us if you are the impostor and your a random guy the friends are happly to "tell on you" over voice comms because they get to have fun "winning" without impacting their own group while you get to have your fun ruined because you are not part of the group.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

So where exactly is the logic to compare two completly different games?

if you cared to read for about 30 seconds you would see i compared Among us to DbD because voice comms destroys the Antagonist role of both games. and much further into the post i explained how DbD is still able to be saved from this issue while Among us is mechanically incapable of being spared of this issue.

Its something they enjoy, im not the type of person to try and police others fun, that just sounds like a sad existence. This wasn't asking "is him doing this a good idea" or "should i do this" its, within the constraints of what my friend finds fun which is streaming, what can be done to mitigate the negatives so we can continue having fun games.

not have TTW or YT in his name, thats literally all you can do to stop a sniper because hanging your nads out for people to punch is an easy target, if people enjoyed his streams they would be attracted to it regardless because he would stand out.

so either they improve the quality of their stream and remove the obvious "tunnel me while 3-4 people watch!" name that is TTV or YT or suck it up and either deal with it or stop partying with said friend.

I play SWF sometimes and one of my friends streams to twitch. We do it for the social component, not for swat SWF type things. At the start of the game the Demo was afk which we thought was weird but not unheard of. He came back part way in. Apparently during this afk he was opening the twitch client.

We found out end of game he was watching my friends stream to get intel on the game while he was killer. Admitted it in twitch chat. It didn't help him much, he had well over 500 ping so, even hitting us through pallets/walls he only managed a 2k with both kills coming from noed.

My question is, is this common? Should we be concerned with this going forward? Is there anyone else here who streams and has found a way to deal with this other than extending the delay on stream.

i mean if your friend is stupid enough to put "TTV" or "YT" on his user name he's basically saying "YOOOHOOO! LOOK AT ME IM STREAMING AND HERES MY LINK! COME SNIPE ME!"

i mean would you broadcast your bank pin and card number in the street because your using a specific bank? of course not.

so dont be surprised people snatch up free intel if your going to basically stick your rear out at a sniper.

If you didn't notice. We have a lot of killers that are kind of similiar.

    Hag and Trapper

    Billy and Leatherface

    Myers and Ghostface

    etc.

    hmmm good point

  • probably not a werewolf, otherwise it would just end up being a mix of oni+demo.

if anything im hoping its Dracula or Frankenstein's monster as that video looks very story teller ish

I mean, the killers, they’re about the same as console killers.

But the survivors i think are a lot worse. I see a lot more just doing nothing, hiding. Since i’ve been on crossplay, gens have been notably slower.

And when ever i’m hooked i usually go to struggle cause a Yui decided it would be useful to finish a gen, then do a totem. Then look in the chest.

Keep in mind i had kindred.

    So um, Console Master Race?

how can you tell they were PC? if your xbox for example switch and PS players both show up with the same globe icon

With disabled crossplay, how can your queue times be too long as both survivor and killer? Are your ranks that different?

its on by default for the majority of players so most dont even turn it off resulting in a very small pool of those who have it off.

I don´t even know if there will be another rework, and if there will be, who do you think it´ll be?

    Thanks for answers!

likely piggy and huntress, the hunting gals

  • i consider myself a good sport when i play killer.

if the survivors are sandbagging each other, i stomp them to hard or only one guy is actually playing the game properly while the others just sort of troll the game i will usually lay down my blade/claw/gun and help the ones who are being victimized by them and help them farm a bit because i know what its like to be on that end of the sword as a solo survivor.
