I been playing this game for a while now...and I notice the "Hate" threads that always pop up about killers and XYZ being unfair, and XYZ should be nerfed, and XYZ should be buffed etc etc etc.
But I've noticed that ultimately, NONE OF THAT BS MATTERS, because the devs won't address the root cause of our own communities behavior (ha sick pun m8).
Its all psychology and time. And I'll give you my reasons why, and which killers I play, and which behavior traits pop up when playing them.
So lets say I'm playing Spirit!
Spirits pretty common yeah? Fast killer, flys around the map smacking people. No real secondary objectives...she's just a brute where throwing your face into situations usually solves them.
1 person goes down and hooked
1 gen gets done
1 more person goes down and gets hooked
1 more person goes down and gets hooked
Gen 2 gets done.
1 more person goes down and gets hooked
1 more person goes down and gets hooked DEATH
Gen 3 gets done.
1 more person goes down and gets hooked DEATH
4th Gen gets done.
1 more person goes down and gets hooked
5th Gen gets done.
1 more person goes down and gets hooked DEATH
Exit gates open 1 person leaves.
Whole match maybe takes 7-10 minutes tops.
And during this time I'm SWEATING MY ASS OFF teleporting on cool down, never missing a mind game, cracking as many people over the head as I can get while at the same time running thanatophobia and dying light and I'm tunneling, proxy camping, disrespecting pallets, and doing anything dirty and clean to win. Some people would call this a good match....I call it sweat!
Take that same match as trapper, and I've got 1 down with 3 gens left and am mid chase for the 2nd total down that match. Match could end in 5 minutes if I don't take any slowdown perks, and I'm definitely not getting as many downs as spirit. Hes big...but across a map he cannot move....
Take that same match as Pig, or Plague (both killers who capitalize on secondary objectives) And I can have a match last 15 minutes plus....I'm not sweating.....I don't have to camp, don't have to tunnel....and suddenly I don't even care if people get away because the match lasted long enough for everybody to profit. Hell I'll even be feeling good enough to give people hatches.
^ This is the psychological conundrum. Different players play and want different things out of a killer, and the way this grind is set up, you're lucky to kit out a decent roster with as many perks as possible so people pick up "Mains".
This wouldn't be an issue if there was a performance standard for killers across the board....but there isn't. Other killers are simply playing completely different games from each other considering the difference in their kits. On top of this, other killers have COMPLETELY DISPROPORTIONATE AMOUNTS OF TIME COMPARED TO OTHER KILLERS ON THE ROSTER. ^ This breeds different psychologies among "Mains". You'll have Pigs or Docs or Plagues who play one way and do so casually because they have plenty of time to either profit or make mistakes. Other killers get LITERALLY NO TIME AT ALL in comparison, and have to sweat, camp, and do other disgusting things that survivors deem "unfun". The amount of effort required is also disproportionate. So you end up with sweaty Bubbas, Sweaty Trappers, Sweaty Blights, Spirits, etc.
^ Because if you play these killers without sweating, you will ultimately run out of time and lose......period.
This is a problem I've noticed and a lot of other killers will swear by "Oh just increase gen time or something" Which is nice and all but, increasing gen time would just make killers who already perform comfortably with the current gen times OVER perform with buffed gens.
So I'm curious what can be done about TIME with certain killers and not others. So that the stress to perform on a hamstrung killer doesn't result in "unfun" playstyles.
The logic is actually really simple if you think about it. You could have 30-45 minutes to finish a good lunch.....OR 5 minutes to finish a good lunch and choke midway because you're rushing. ^ Do that over the course of days, weeks, months, or years because you've chosen X killer...and viola...you're spitting food on everybody near you because you only have 5 minutes to eat everyday and have developed insane and toxic ways to get your food down, as well have developed anger issues because other people get 10-45 minutes to eat.... Its like being in prison....
A lot of that is killer inexperience, lack of map knowledge and how to apply pressure, inability to end chases in under 30 seconds, etc.

I find Pyramid Head really fun because you can make insane hits through walls. He's also powerful too so I always recommend him.
BILLY BABY, the true OG of fun, even with the nerfs. Unfortunately they over-nerfed him to the point where you have to really focus to do well, but the fun factor is still there. Also, for me Demo is a ton of fun and so is Meyers. Wraith is a bit too strong but also fun.

I think this is a finite gripe about an overall larger issue that is a stale meta with little variation that leads to stale gameplay and obviously people that have thousands of hours are far too efficient in it. Too much cranking out new content, not enough refreshing current meta and reworking iconic killers to bring them up to date or in line with current meta. The trapper is laughable... so is meyers... because the meta has not changed, but perks have gotten stronger, and survivors have gotten better... leaving some behind. Freshness in the meta and updates to the current game are much better than adding killers the community doesnt even like to play (i.e.twins, slinger, tickster) because they are boring or too easily countered.

I'm sorry but it doesnt matter if you give these players 80 perks instead of 4... if they already refused to do gens, tend to hide round the corner of the map and cant look behind them let alone lead on a chase the perks wont make a difference.
These players are why solo Q is awful, when you have players that physically cannot play the game especially the basics at the rank they're at that's the real issue.
Getting 12hooks at 5 gens isn't because they're solo Q its because they wont be doing gens or belong anywhere near that rank.
Ranking is the issue not solo Q. Solos playing with some what of an understanding is the most balanced part of dbd. Solo Q doesnt stop you jumping on a gen or being able to loop.
Its just a flat out terrible idea to buff solo. the game does not operate in that vacuum

I am not saying she is fun to play against. But I dont think it is "unfair" because it is a mechanic in the game. Nurse has a very similar issue with the ability to teleport. Blight also has insane mobility and tech to 180. I am with you that she is not fun to play against and I dont like playing as her, but there are not a lot of spirits around. I think there are truly "unfair" things in this game that can be addressed.. but the killer is working as designed, so it is fair, but you can argue, not fun.

Its all fun and jokes until you get slugged over and over again and die on the ground.
That means you are playing poorly or the killer is new. It is pretty tough to slug a good team. and inefficient for pips. Generally, bad killers slug, because they cant keep pace with the game.... or are to scared to try. Some situations slugging is the right call as well.... or when survivors dive bomb hooks or try to hide next to a killer... what do you expect.

I'm trying to get as many different things put in place before the event starts.
I currently have over 3 million BP saved in the archives and will have nearly 4 million by the time the event starts.
I'm getting certain characters ready such as:
- Using all my flashlights on Elodie, Yun-Jin, Ash and Laurie. Giving one per game to my mates.
- Only putting points into my P3 Felix (he doesn't have all the perks yet).
- After Jill and Leon are released I'm levelling them up to Lv50 then using all their flashlights.
- After Nemesis is released I'm levelling him up to Lv50 and using all his point offerings.
This is what I'm hoping I'll have to start the event:
- 4 million bloodpoints in archives + 1 million saved + 90K in dailies.
- Leon and Jill ready to become P1 - these two I'm going to level and play during the event.
- Elodie, Yui and Laurie ready to become P3 - point dumps when I have no one else to level.
- Ash, Yun-Jin and Quentin ready to become P2 - level them all to P2 Lv50 and play them once I have Jill and Leon at P3. Otherwise I'll leave them at P2 Lv50.
- Nemesis ready to become P1 - for my killer challenges.
My objective is to get a ton of Gateaus on my survivors/killers. Hopefully they drop as often as they did last year but we'll see if they do. I'm being very particular about how I do this because I want certain characters to be my mains while also being able to use a Gateau every single game I play during the event.
So has anyone prepared themselves as much as I have?
yes. I have every tome (minus tome one which I did) pretty optimized and I have 2 45000 quests ready to turn in (trying to get a thrid).
I havent done the math, but I think I have about 10 million bps with all of the tomes 2-7, give or take, with a million bps. I just got these naturally, for the most part, and didnt turn in based on other peoples work... so it wasnt terribly hard. That being said, I also got all killers that I hadnt to 50 and most survivors. I was gone for almost 2 years... so I was in a unique situation, but it was fairly simple with ~500 hours of play over the past month or two to level up (no worries about prestiege).
I will say this.... it is sad to see that the game has not reduced the price of items on bloodwebs, allowed items to stay when you prestiege ( and perks) and reduced the size of bloodwebs.
There are over 50 chars in this game in a week and spending 2000-4000 hours to get them to p3 for purely cosmetic reasons ..... is very very poor thought out game design. There is little to no advantage for p3, it should not be that hard.
Doubling bloodpoints and cutting the price for items in half is a start.... but should be in addition to not losing offerings or perks when you prestiege... or if you have to lose them, get them back at the rank you had them, to avoid even more waste. Also reducing blood web size so you get to 50 faster. IT is only cosmetic..... stupid to make people grind for hundreds of hours per character. Especially with how sparse bloodhunts are.
double the bps given, cut the items price in half, dont lose stuff when you prestiege.... its only for cosmetics... its not hard.... with how much the game has grown... to stay updated with the amount of content you put in.... by realizing its become exponentially more grindy with all the new additions.

I agree that rank doesn mean skilll but it has nothing to do with players who think that way and lose on purpose.
I am with you in the fact that you are frustrated. This is the worst matchmaking of any game ive played... which is why I was saying its casual. I am with you ... and the devs know... there is a better way to do this... .but you wil never stop people from trolling.... or doing objectives for dailies or archivese... its a part of the game
I laugh. I recommend getting into positive twitch streamers or with a community that likes to play. you can hit me up on steam here is my friend code 74508282 makes no diff how good you are or if you arent rank 1 to me. I have about 1200ish survivor hours in reds and I am not amazing but I can hang.

I've read multiple posts (not here) of survivor players who admit playing bad to de pip and play against less experienced killers because they think they don't belong in their rank (red and purple) they do it because they feel like they get stomped pretty often.
The problem here is they are ruining the game for 3 other players and there is probably no way to solve this since you can't tell if someone is doing it on purpose or they are just really bad playing.
I am interested in knowing your opinion on this? shall rank be hidden to avoid this?
Rank is not indicative of skill. Rank means nothing.
gameplay at lower ranks is much harder to stomach than at high ranks.

The reduction I feel would be good only if they added the increased Bloodpoint earnings. If you reduce how much you need to spend by half on (most of) them, as well as boost the amount of Bloodpoints earned in matches, you'll level up your character within around 4 to 8 levels per match, which is what should really be the case rather than possibly leveling them up once or twice.
And I also think that Prestige should allow you to have more Perk Slots available to you in base; so if you prestige once, you get two slots to start; you prestige again, you get three, and the final time, you get all four. Gives you more incentive.
I also do agree that something needs to be done about the Prestige system. Perhaps considering how much Bloodpoints are spent to prestige anyway, they should reward you with around 250,000 Bloodpoints per Prestige perhaps, that way you can kickstart your progression faster.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2241714#Comment_2241714
That or maybe all universal perks are available right from the gate?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2241738#Comment_2241738
I can understand why they have ranks, which gives players a sense of "progression", but I also do agree that leveling up perks is too archaic, at least in their current way.
If they had to keep them, I would argue that we should be able to level Perks up by themselves with Bloodpoints, rather than having to sort through them in the Bloodweb. That way you only need to obtain one of each Perk in the Bloodweb, then focus on leveling them up in the Perk menu. Again, an innovative way to really make grind better without having to force people into the Bloodweb and spend so many points to possibly not even go up a level.
The reduction I proposed literally makes bps more worth it.
More perk slots is a horrible idea. You want people to run 4 hexes, and 2 chase perks? Or bt, unbreakable, soul guard, adrenaline, dead hard, etc? no one wants that.
-
@ShinobuSK said:
Depends on the killer but mostly not worth it. At least not as a Plan A
You can run Ruin with Pop so you have backup after totem is gone.
And other Hex perks shouldnt be something you can rely on either, just a bonus to your build
This is wildly inaccurate. Hexes are used in most top ranked killers builds, with some using them better than others. Hexes are also far more valuable than pop if you are bad in chase. Hexes are ALWAYS plan A, unless it is noed. I think you mean you should not rely on them staying up, which is a much different point and those that have them, depending on if you can afford to defend it, know this. Hexes are far more effective at higher level gameplay. Even the slowdown from losing it early can make it worth it. Though I think there should be a protection on hexes for 60s or so to start the match.
-
They need to be reduced more than that. that is merely maxing bps 2x as worth it when we have over 50 and more coming characters starting june 15th. It is unreasonable that you have to spend 2000 hours to get them to p3 and get perks you want. Perks should be allowed to be purchased (not at random) and bloodwebs should also be shrunk in size. put another -500 on all of the things you listed and dont lose items or perks when going next prestiege... or at least get them back at the level you had them when they appear in the bloodweb... and that is a much better start.
Cutting the bps down on items, even by half, is not indiciative of how big the game has gotten since they came in, nor how many items and perks have been added to purchase. You should be able to p3 all survivors in a couple hundred hours. its purely cosmetic and they make money of micro transactions. p3 used to be bc there were only one outfit... bloody or not.

BHVR needs and deserves some negativity for their consistent thick-headed refusal to listen to their community time and time again. I have actually lost count of the number of times people have waited months or years for a change, even a simple one and had them ignore it, put it on the backburner or outright mock people affected by it. So screw their feelings; I'm a customer and I will be served.
You were almost on a good path, then you devolved into petty negativity. They have a product and you can choose to use it as is, or not. That is the counter to you being a customer. Do not digress, but assist progress. I am not saying to not be critical, but how you approach things is as important as what you are trying to have fixed.
-
Not my main, but I love playing michael. I think his tier 1 movement should be faster and you should be able to get out of tier one quicker and also be able to stalk survivors another 50% before they go red. games can take longer and if you hook after downs, you need more tier 3s. could be much like Oni and go away when you pick up. and based of what you didnt use, you are allowed to get that stalk back. or it stays at 70% or wherever you picked up.

Anyway, regarding the last bit, he was going to play survivor in Hexy's tournament (killer was going to be DeviB iirc). Then the team was excluded due to ping.
Again, my opinion was based off of the footage I have seen of him that is worth watching at a high level.

I would agree with that bit I mained huntress and deathslinger
The real problem is his design. Not that it is crazy bad, but you cant really make him more lethal at range... and buffing his main event could make him way too strong when survivors are grouped or in dead zones... he could cut people down like the chainsaw on bubba... at range.
I can tell you it is a very noticeable difference in lethality at range when using the usb and coca can.... vs using the item that takes more knives to down and gives bp. That is the metric I am using to say that making it take 6 shots or 4 shots to down would be very very strong. huntress and slinger both have more lethal ranged attacks. but they are also much more predictable, or in the case of slinger, counterable.
It feels like he needs something that slows survivors the more knives they have in them... but that might also be bad. It is a tough call. I think he needs to be redesigned. It was a shame to see him come out as he did and then see the tuning pass not actually address the issues that players have with him.
Maybe give him a better element of stealth, or ability to "trick" people. It is a tough ask. much like pig and trapper. they have to change the killers in ways that stay true to the story, but make them more playable. I am glad I am a consumer, not a developer, in this case.

Indeed, it should fix it but we know it probably won't. That is why I've said to not keep hopes up.
The game is entirely csual though so I think they should do away with ranks since they dont mean anything and the matchmaking is horrible. They are working to improve matchmaking based on some sort of MMR system that has been undefined. I can tell you that it made queue times STUPID long (ten minutes +) when they did that one day release, so I am sure they are either rethinking or making a new system.
I actually think a very accurate MMR system would be horrible, it would require killers to play more meta killers. and matches would be a lot sweatier and ruin a lot of the fun. I have almost 4k hours in the game. I am fairly decent at killer, but I can tell you that I enjoy knowing I can play almost any killer and wont get completely stomped if I play a killer that has less leathality or pressure and it allows me to have more fun builds.
Ideally, to me, the MMR would be a mixture of win rate overall and win rate vs players with high win rates and also win rate vs players with high hours (500-1500) then win rate vs players with 2000-5000 and finally win rate vs killers with 5000+ hours. It should also apply to both sides at that point, as it is an indication of overall skill and parsing time played as survivor vs time played as killer is also inaccurate if someone plays 90% killer .... and has 4000 hours but 500 hours on killer.... they are also going to be better than most survivors that have 500ish hours, in most cases.
map knowledge, perk identifying, and game sense play the largest part in being "good" at either role.

OK well I think you have taken what I said in a negative light. I was simply providing an alternate view while it felt like you were being intentionally inflammatory or sarcastic. Its all good bro. I do enjoy harder challenges and I actualy wish they would have a separate set of challenges (not required to get to the next level for those who dont want to do it) That are REALLY hard, and might give a separate charm like a nightmare mode for challenges. or a line below the level wiht 3 "ver y hard" challenges. I would do that out of fun and for flavor. Maybe they give you a bloody party streamer, or double bps of a normal one. just ideas, but I think harder challenges are more fun, as some of the current ones are wayyyyyy tooo easy.

He used to dedicate sperate days for both killer and survivor, so definitely flex
Yea for sure, I think the majority of his skill was in survivor comparatively, contrasting Otz, who is better at killer, for instance. that is all I mean... to help them decide if he is the best killer main to watch.... because I would say no... both for information and from a skill level. He and Truetalent are one in the same.... Very strong, way better than me, but not phenominal at killer when compared to Dowsey, Otz, Umbra, Ralph, etc. people like that.
Tofu is one of the most mechanically even on both sides, as far as I see it. I love his gameplay, sometimes he gets a bit cringey for me because he repeats stuff a lot (to be entertaining and silly) but I hate repeating, its all on me, but sometimes I FFWd his vods to gameplay.
I would advise staying away from people that are overly negative and toxic like Angrypug and at times truetalent (who blames the game a lot) and even though scott jund is an amazing player, he is (rightfully so) critical of a lot of game design, but it overtakes his stream.
Sorry for a mini-rant. I love most of those streamers for diff reasons. the only one I cant watch anymore is pug. he used to be funny with his play but now all he does is talk down on the game and his viewers.... or more accurately ... the majority of his content is negative, in my opinion. He changed a lot, I was sub of his for over 2 years, but I cant anymore. Brings my mentality down on things.

I'm not sure if you interpreted my post fully. I'm not calling for survivor buffs, I'm calling for changes that makes solo queue less cringe and painful.
What is the attitude I should have?
"Jake is hook bombing me with no borrowed time and doesn't try to take a hit, lol gg guess I'll do better next time as the killer now has 2 slugs"? Because stuff like this happens nearly every game which usually results in a lose. I don't see how an attitude adjustment can change the outcome...
I totally get your furstration. I didnt mean to sound like telling you how to feel or play was my goal. I was simply trying to impart in you that for me (who has raged many times at many different games including this one) when I focused on having fun and staying positive, that helped improve my gameplay. I was not really meaning to address as a solution to your issue, because I dont think there is an easy solution that prevents people laying poorly.... .even mmr doesnt fix that, as people bm bc they got downed fast, they dont like a killer, dont like a map, think their teammates arent playing the way they want.
my point was to take the focus off them, have as much fun as you can in a match, and move on if it sucks and have fun in the next one!
I have played thousands of matches and only a small percentage were truly just a throw fest. I think when you let other people affect your fun, you let the devil win. They changed you. Youre better than that and you can just say aiight.... prob wont see them again. ima have fun getting better at looping, or whatever you want to improve at.

@GeneralV said:
Unfortunately, this is pretty common. The upcoming MMR system should fix it, but don't get your hopes up.
I disagree, especially since ranks do not relate to player skill and you can grind red ranks by gens/hiding and dive bombing hooks, fairly easily. MMR may help, but it will encourage de-ranking if it is a full mmr system due to wait times, making an even larger problem of afking and toxic gameplay. the game is supposed t obe casual. ranks dont matter. anyone that has played the game for any extended period of time knows the disparity in skill level amongst red ranks.
The real issue is that you just need time in. I have thousands of escapes and thousands of 4ks.... sometimes I get rank 10s. This is more of an issue with perception. someone like me that has thousands of hours, probably shouldnt be with players that have a couple hundred.
Just remember it is casual. the ranks dont actually mean anything and the pip system itself is aimed at discouraging camping and what not.
Have fun and do your best, also, get some perks before you play killer if you are new. Even experienced killers can struggle wihtout perks.
Also depending on what time you play, there may be a ton of survivors on and not a ton of killers so you get matched with ranbow ranks. as you play more you will learn to tell. They are also taking steps to help diversify this.

I have immense fun even when solo. I think most of it is in your attitude. You can get unlucky wiht players regardless and even MMR wont fully solve that when it is implemented. Survivors definitely do not need buffs. lol or an additional perk slot, high level play has survivors dominating in tournaments and when swf. 4 strong survivors beat a strong killer, almost every time. It is more consistent that you have strong killers who do well because 1-2 survivors are almost always the weak link and the game is extremely hard with only 50% of your team doing what you need to get out and the others getting downed quickly or afking.
If you change your attitude you will enjoy the game more. I dont mean to discount your perception, but I have a lot of time the game and what you are stating is not the reality of solo queue, as I know it, after over 5000 escapes, and even more 4ks.

Every time I try to use a fun build or try to play a killer that isn't meta defining I lose and get taunted by the other side.
Every time I switch my perks to something different I lose because I needed those perks that game, but then when I use them they never come up in gameplay and I don't get to have fun with my build.
Every time I want to try a new killer out I get run around in circles and added to some lofi montage video, and whenever I actually get a kill I don't get to feel good about it because the person I killed gets upset at me.
I need tips, please, I want to enjoy this game but its like its doing everything in its power to make me hate it and myself more and more.
I know I'm not the best at the game, I want to get better at it, but every tip and trick I've used from youtubers, twitch streamers, and the devs has not worked at all. I need some help, please.
If your advice is to "play something else", then why play the game at all? If the only way a game less frustrating is to not play it, then why play it in the first place?
this is not a meme response, but a lot of it comes down to your attitude. do not let other things players do affect your enjoyment in the game.
When I first started to learn nurse, I got tbagged for quite a few matches, engame chat was rough here and there, but just ignore it, or move on and dont even look at it. Dont worry about rank. its not indicative of skill. I regularly dominate red rank teams who are easily outclassed by lower ranked players or other red ranks. It is all about time in the game, map awareness , understanding of game pace, game sense for when to do what, and understanding and identifying whatthe other side is trying to do so you can counter it.
Winning is defined by you and you alone, to me as long as I am improving, I am cool with it. Adopting a good attitude and not worrying about ranks increased my enjoyment ten fold. You will run into tilting situations, but its less about what happens to you, and more about how you handle it. Dont give them the satisfaction, you can always just go another game. If you have to, and someone is slugging or holding the game hostage, tab out and watch some twitch or youtube on another screen, throw on some music, go pee or get a drink.
Its a super casual game and some people try to pretend it is more. To me its about playing iconic killers and survivors and having fun. In general killer is much more stressful because you are against 4 people, survivor if you hate life, you can get out of the match faster and it is generally more chill and you have downtime.
Playtime helps you get better. Learn maps, learn to loop and anti loop, learn to mindgame from both sides, use items dont hoard them, have fun with challenges new and old, watch streamers like otz, tofu, and other positive influences. The community can be a great resource, regardless of what some people say. Make friends or go to discord/forums and find people to swf with. I regularly solo queue but play with friends a lot as well on weekends.
NO ONE CARES if you win a game, when the next game starts you get a fresh opportunity. Keep a good attitude and know that with time you will get better. If you are new, there are a ton of perks and maps and killers to get used to, you will get more comfortable and do well with all killers and survivors, when you have more experience and knowledge and can read the game and dictate pace.

things like Murky Reagent even when I have 4 people and we all burn them I can barely see a difference. does it effect anything or are they just pointless? I feel like if there is one it should seem much darker and burning more should make it more like actually being in fog.
they used to do a lot more, but short answer is yes... but people change their settings and cran gamma and brightness to try and gain advantages, so they barely do anything.

Did he play Killer?
Almost without exception all great or longtime dbd players play both side to some extent. He has videos on both. I personally saw him as a survivor main, but it could have just been the youtube algorithm feeding me that info.

My last post was absolutely an unnecessary, passive-aggressive attempt to insult. My apologies.
Have a good day.
Its all love. We all want the game and community to reach its best potential. I applaud your sincerity and introspection. You're a stand-up person and square with me. I am also passionate about the game, perhaps I come across rougher than I mean as well.

the trapper and Zarina skins are brand new made for the rift and they have been given challenges accordingly just like how Claudette and Oni did in the previous tome and clown and Adam in the one before that its a trend they started in tome 5
the Kate skin is part of the waterfront massacre skin line along with the Dwight, David and Nea skins we got recently. basically its a free skin from that set just like how in the first tomes rift we got the nurses Halloween blight cosmetic when all the other skins had to be bought or earned through the event.
the blight and huntress skins are just re-colours of existing skins
the Claudette skin is one of the community's " design your own cosmetic" contest winners
and they said community designed skins will always be free if i remember correct. also, as I stated above the rift is a one time purchase if you complete it, I believe you get the cells back, or very close to it.

But Kate's outfit isn't free... It's under the premium (and will be available for shards later I guess).
If you complete all of the levels, you get the cells back. So in essence it is free, or WORST case, 10 dollars (one time) for every future premium path.

By saying that you show me that you don't play against people with a minimum level.
If you can hit two people with Plague Corruption at once twice in the game without camping or farming, send me a video because you are probably the best Plague player out there.
What does that even mean? what is minimum level? are you saying red ranks? I have been red ranks since ranks were implemented... Ranks are not indicative of skill level, as they are achievable by grinding and doing the right things to pip. Players still dive bomb hooks to get challenges done and for blood points, you can find people working on gens together, you can find them healing, you can find multiple people, multiple times in a map and if you use her puke you can hit multiple people with regularity. I am not the best plague player and probably only a good killer, nothing amazing. It seems like you are just trying to discredit, or prove your point by being belligerent. If you think that those challenges you were referring to are only achieved by farming, then that is ignorant. It is a challenge, and not all of them are meant to be achievable the first time, or in every trial. I recognized they are more difficult, and I like the difficult ones. They are also still entirely optional if you find yourself unable to achieve them. I have never farmed for any challenge, but I have altered gameplay to do so.
It is more important to me that people have fun. For instance, the Tome one with the trapper took me a considerable amount of time. Back then trapper wasn't as outclassed as he is now, but some of it is rng. The older tomes have more time consuming challenges in general and that is okay too. not everything has to be done in a day. I am okay with locking in the challenge when I want to play plague and maybe getting it maybe not. I think I got it second or third game, so it wasnt an issue, but again, I struggled with the kill everyone as doctor a year ago or whatever it was, and had many matches of getting tbagged because I just didnt have the requisite skill on doc, or honestly the game awareness or map knowledge yet. I can sweat out a 4k on pretty much any killer, but that hurts the community and newer players get a bad impression. It is important that people like the game, or we have longer queues and less variety.
If you play for fun, then you get them along the way, or dont do them if you dont like them, but complaining about variety and optional challenges just because you think they are difficult is a unfortunate way to be. Just stay positive, and have fun, you will get better and or you will have some of the crazy matches that we all have where survivors get overly altruistic and you punish it. hits still count through BT and soulguard, etc. Put ranks and challenges out of your mind if it stresses you out, and in my opinion the game becomes more fun, and you can focus on what makes you a better player.

But there are also skins of other Survivors like Kate / Claudette or Killers like Blight / Huntress. Why have they decided to make challenges of Zarina and the Trapper?
I ask because I don't know if they have something to do with the lore of the Plague and Bill or just completely random.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2239184#Comment_2239184
These Challenges simply encourage farming or even camping, I don't understand why they aren't able to think of Challenges that are really challenges and not a joke.
If you choose to farm or camp, then that is on you. Challenges dont inherently call for that. That is just trying to cheat the challenge, that is totally optional. They can be completed in normal gameplay. It might take a couple matches, but who cares? Have fun with it, or dont do it.

It's an usual thing now to add different characters on the level 3 and 4. Like we have Adam in the Tome 5.
P.S. I think that this challenge will be a mess like the Plague's one from the recent tome on level 2 :(
This is significantly harder than that challenge, Imo at higher ranks, its not often that people step in traps 4x. I like trapper, but that is a tall order that could take several games until you get inexperienced survivors. Regardless I think challenges that are challenging are the most fun.

I've worked with a lot of very articulate people. But just because what they say sounds good and they say it with confidence, doesn't mean they aren't full of crap. The majority of them always got mad too when called out and proven wrong. And the majority of the time they would just deflect and say it was the other person's fault and refuse to discuss anymore.
You didn't further the discussion, you tried to break down what I said, then had a poorly though out anecdote about being new to the forums. You only tried to discredit, which I ignored. If you have something you want to discuss, then we can do that, but you did not in your previous post. Even in this post you are attempting to instigate, rather than discussing a point. When you want to have a discussion, I will listen, though you are losing credibility with transparent attempts to insult or instigate. Unless you want to actually discuss something, you can look for attention elsewhere.

I'm extremely confused what's considered holding the game hostage. I was under the assumption holding the game hostage is 2 survivors refusing to do gens or die as a result of the game going on indefinately.
To give some context, I was playing Billy with deerstalker. I hooked a few survivors but realized that the only way I was going to get anywhere was to slug hard, so I did. It resulted in 3 survivors bleeding out and one escaping. The one escaping accused me of holding the game hostage. He didn't explain himself further but by reporting me and that was it.
Did I do something wrong? Should I change my behavior? Any input would be appreciated.
The simple answer is that it is not clearly defined by the developers and people are telling you what they think. The devs have said that they make a determination with live staff based on evidence and encourage players to submit any supporting screenshots or videos, as it helps, if you have it.
People get frustrated with the game and have poor perceptions. Stay positive and just try not to be part of the problem, then hook the problems and sacrifice them to the entity :)

You contradict yourself. You say "but I see many more troll or negative posts then posts to help have strong discussions and helpful critique" and when I call bs you say "I was discouraging that type of response, not saying that is what people do more than give constructive feedback".
You change your story. You say "I think it is on us as players to let them know we are okay with less content and more fixes" and when 2 of us point out that the community has, to the point they brought it up, you say "Remember they are a smaller company and a smaller dev team". Wouldn't less content development help a smaller dev team.
You say "They do not have to be specific with updates on what they tried and did not work, you are not the product owner. You are the consumer". I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are not trying to be condescending, but this is condescending. I am not a child that needs you to tell me how business works.
I see your forum account is relatively new. Is that because you are new to the game or because you just didn't want to be part of the community until now? I have been in this forum since it was live and was in the steam forums before this. I don't have 1000s of posts because I look at what is being posted and if it's already being said, I like their post instead of creating a new one about the same thing. After awhile of seeing people ask for feedback and not getting any, you stop creating positive post and just start getting more direct about stuff.
You say "They layed out their roadmap and goals in the stream. If people want them to prioritize something else and they get an influx of those requests, do you think they will ignore it" and "They have to know what to give priority to and there are (example) 200 posts on twitter and forums asking for cosmetics and none that are easily found asking for more communication or clarity. Let me point you to a post that many people have been asking for more feedback on.
I'll also ask you to go the the optimization section on this forum. There are 15 pages with about 30 threads on each page about poor optimization. The majority of them are still pending. Most of them don't even have a response from a mod or dev even asking for more information. Feeling ignored yet?
I am sorry that you cannot understand what I wrote and chose to re-post and continue to be negative. I see your post was basically just quotes and while I appreciate your interest, I am interested in conversation that has a sustenance, not thinly-veiled misrepresentation.

Did you not read the part when I said to use Nemesis or Furtive Chase?
So no response? Its not poorly designed then if there are several ways to accomplish it and you dont have to camp or tunnel? Thank you. You can not like something without it being poorly designed.

Maybe in your hands. I dont think many players with a ton of playtime would agree.

Maybe have the game run a check that sees that the person did literally NOTHING all match but wander around hiding, not doing gens, not cleansing hexes, not doing saves, not doing ANYTHING, only to let the last two or three people die so they could look for and / or camp the hatch?
I didn't used to see this very often but it's happened literally four times today, now twice in a row, and it's really starting to piss me off. If someone is literally contributing nothing to the match, and in fact acting as a deliberate detriment to it, I would be very happy to see this kind of behavior dealt with.
One match it's four of us versus Michael on Crotus Prenn. I start to notice that by the first death it's the same three of us running across each other, healing and saving and trying to do gens. Then it's down to me and one other person plus the mystery player. Then he dies. Then I die. Lo and behold, I spectate and they're just hiding behind trees waiting for the hatch. Thanks Cheryl. Next it's the FIRST time I've seen the Thompson House in weeks, but I can hardly enjoy it because I and two others are the only ones actually moving around and accomplishing anything. It gets down to me, again, and sure enough, after I die I have half a second to spectate before the final person runs from behind a rock or some crap and jumps into the hatch.
Honestly if this becomes a habit I'd be happy to see the hatch eliminated altogether. I'm rapidly becoming fed up with players who are just cowards and screw everyone else the whole game. Why even play?
I have issues when facing new survivors with them hiding, but it is rare I get newer survivors. There are also a plethora of perks that help you track, such as whispers, without hooks or gens being completed. Also be observant, survivors make noise, even moving in the grass ... map knowledge and game sense will help you. I agree it sucks. but its not that big of a deal compared to many other things and it doesnt happen much with experienced players.

I recently had a friend who showed massive interest in playing dbd after talking a bit with him he was even more existed when we started discussing perks he was super happy and then I told him how to get perks and how bloodpoints work and his face just dropped. My friend is ok with grinding but he said it himself this is too much he plays himself plays grindy games but he said himself he cba to repeat the same match over and over again to get more bp and to get the best amount of bp playing as killer he needs bbq which he isnt willing to pay for.
What is the solution to this? My friend doesn't want to play dbd because the bp grind is too long and he can't do what he wants to do (Experiment with perk builds toying around with them etc) without having to grind his ass off with perks he doesnt like using like small game.
There should be some other way to unlock perks or some way you can unlock chosen perks so you arent stuck getting deja vu (yes it has its uses but generally no) 3 times on the blood web and then run out of bp.
I have made many postws about this. I think they should lower bloodweb items to 1000, 1500, 2000, and 3000 and shrink the web. That would essentially make BP more than twice as valuable as they are now and cut down hundreds of hours to get all characters leveled up

Some of these challenges are so terribly designed. You should be able to do it if you put on Nemesis or Furtive Chase.
how is it poorly designed? It is a challenge..... not a freebie.... some are harder than others. Maybe try being more constructive next time and telling them how they can complete it, without saying that it is poorly designed.... which doesnt even make sense. It might seem silly to you, but there is no "design" element that is broken or poor, when saying hook obsession 4 times in a trial, when there are several different ways to do it.
-
this is also not accurate. use nemesis, furtive chase, etc. there are lots of ways to get the obsession.
-
it can happen. there are many many perks that can make that happen both on killer and survivor side. You should probably read before posting.
