  • Corrupt is the only thing that's going to keep them from splitting across gens like that early game. It will shrink the map a little bit to help you during the early game

  • I agree they need to go, or at least be limited to no more than 2 in a single building and no more than 3 per map

  • Idiots like these are why killrates are so inflated. I’m guessing these are the same types of players that hookrush basement while injured or sit and finish a gen while the rest of the team is slugged.

  • @Aneurysm said:

Some parts of survivor take skill, good decision making is probably more important for the role but you can lack both those things and get by with meta perks, bad map design, weaker killers, stupid matchmaking etc

The downside to nerfing ruin even though I agreed with it was the removal of any skill required to do the main survivor activity at all, even if chases now generally require more since map changes (abominations like the meat plant rework notwithstanding)

Yeah and thats really what I’m getting at. Maps and perks carry survivors so much and it inflates egos. These people never have to learn about good decision making, and the times when they do they blow it and throw the game for the team.

In fairness I played survivor recently and it reminds me this can apply to killer a little bit because you see how many killers are carried by being gifted baby survivors who they can tunnel out within 90 seconds. Then we have trusty old NOED.

In general though maps seem to be the biggest issue and second chance perk stacking swf which carries a lot of players.

  • Sometimes it’s a good strategy. However if you see the killer is clearly making some big mistakes and they resort to camp & tunnel off the bat its very likely they’re a victim of the emblem system and matchmaking. Both killers and survivors end up in red ranks by playing a lot when they dont belong there, for killers its often carried by camping and tunneling weak survivors and trusty old NOED.

Now they’re doing the only tactic they know to somehow try and stay afloat at red ranks.

  • “The number of bloodpoints you earn in a match also determines whether or not you’ll gain or lose progress towards your survivor or killer matchmaking rank, which does a surprisingly great job at bringing together killers and survivor teams of comparable skill.”

Yeah they barely touched the game because this is straight up not true. I see rainbow ranks every single day now. Unless the bigger audience in N/A than EU is allowing matchmaking to actually match similar ranks

It really is as simple as predropping pallets against most of the roster. You literally cannot get hit. And if you're on a map like Ormond, you can just hold W and have the "chase" take upwards of 30 seconds even assuming you get no pallets or windows. There's only a small handful of killers that that doesn't work against, but even then the second chances come into play.

I cannot stress enough how broken holding W and predropping pallets is. It takes no skill, it takes no effort, and it's stupidly effective. There is a reason people like Scott Jund call it "playing smart": It destroys most of the roster by denying any early hits/downs. Bonus points if they run into a corner.

Yeah this goes back to what I was saying about survivor not requiring skill.

I remember when you would see the tryhards who did have skill. They would sit on a gen until the last second because they knew how to run a killer.

Now a new playstyle has crept in. Hold W and run early. Hold W to the other side of the map once hit (extremely powerful on large maps or indoor maps), drop every pallet early. It takes less skill but its extremely safe and for killers that cant get hits at pallets its going to wreck their early game. Its why I think Freddy is overrated, if survivors play like this against him it basically squashes him.

  • @KiwiCoattails said:

I think it’s unfair to say that playing survivor doesn’t require skill, because it does. Sitting on a generator isn’t all there is to playing survivor. Knowing how to loop and counter a killer trying to down you, takes practise and not everybody is good at it. Knowing how to prioritise is a skill. Should you heal? Get the unhook? Get on a generator? Cleanse the totem? Also being able to remain out of the killers line of sight is something some people struggle with. Wasting the killers time by making them search for you in an area but not actually find you is beneficial to the entire team. This is something I do a lot and I get killers complimenting me on it saying how annoying it was trying to track me down lol.

Killer is obviously a lot harder to master and you’ll never see me state otherwise because I play both sides frequently. I just don’t agree with making out like playing survivor is easy because I constantly see people struggle at even the most basic of tasks. Some people don’t even look behind them during a chase and that’s one of the most obvious things a survivor should learn early on. 😂

My point wasn’t that survivors have no skill, its that the survivors often aren’t expected to have much skill. Many maps can carry survivors especially when combined with exhaustion perks.

Evading a killer around an L wall T wall until both windows block shows a skill gap between killer and survivor. Holding W through a map like Lerys for 3 gens does not.

  • @Zeus said:

Apparently it'll be getting graphically updated when the next chapter comes to live. Will the size be decreased and totems be well hidden? Definitely possible considering the other maps that were graphically updated got balance changes alongside them.

Aside from Ormond every other balance change to the reworks benefitted survivors so I wouldn’t have much hope for this one. Also remember to destroy the breakable walls at rancid abbatoir, fractured cowshed and torment creek to weaken the infinites 😟 really looking forward to that

  • I’m with ya there. You often hear about people having that one killer they absolutely can not stand, that they never want to play against. I thought it was ridiculous until Ghostface entered the game.

The worst part? He’s a popular pick! And they’re all often quite toxic too.

  • This would not be fair for all players lol this would be some BS for killers

  • Well that would explain why when I play survivor I’m getting put with survivors that based on their playtime have only been playing the game for 1-2 weeks tops.

MMR seems to think that 1-2 red ranks and a few grey ranks makes for a balanced game.

Calling SWF insanely OP or trioQ OP means you are not good enough to play in red ranks man... Good killers have no problem to do at least 2k against SWF with any killer...

Not to be rude but you should definitely check some youtube tutorial about how to chase in jungle gym etc... and one video about map control. There are good players that made some.

Pretty much everyone says it, people with thousands and thousands of hours say it, all the killer mains people love to put on a pedestal also say it, but ok they're all wrong and you're right. You're the smartest here, the only one capable of making a rational informed analysis of the balance.

And to the last part yes you fully did intend to be rude. Classy. If you're like this on the forums I can imagine what you're like in game, keep swf strong so you can give a little tap-tap of the CTRL button at the exit gates.

  • He said he plays solo. The other survivors haven't finished their sightseeing tour of the map yet.

You are right, the graph is good.

    Team 1 : 1 duoQ, 2 soloQ

    Team 2 : 4 soloQ

    Team 3 : 2 duoQ

    Team 4 : trioQ + 1 soloQ

In those 4 teams, you have 16 players : 6 players from duoQ - 7 players from soloQ - 3 players from trioQ

So 43% players from soloQ, 18% from trioQ, 37% from duoQ.

It's an exemple but this graph is what it means, it doesn't mean there are 50% ofthe trials that are composed exclusively of soloQ players... it means solo players represents 50% of the playerbase.

    SWF are insignificant.

But still, you ask for a nerf towards SWF, i prove you that they almost don't exist so you almost jump to a nerf duoQ and trioQ...

And the vast majority of players have their friend list private... so come on, stop the bad faith lol.

From my experience the majority of lobbys are swf. 2+2 I don't mind but I see plenty of 3 man (overpowered), and a fair few 4 mans (insanely op).

SWF do need a nerf I'm not sure why you're trying to argue that. Literally everyone with time and experience in the game says SWF is overpowered. Even people that defend survivor and try to be neutral says SWF is overpowered. What are you trying to prove exactly?

That is not the case at all. Freddy has been oppressive for a while and easy as hell to play. I agree that it's extremely frustrating to play against a freddy nowadays especially with the build everyone uses.

On top of that he has no cd on his power. I can play the game well and still lose because he's everywhere on the map at once.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxgD0FTP_6w&list=PLBTXXHJZvNPjwnAtCPljKvShnZwuAzZv8&index=15

This is Freddy being played by a very experienced killer vs very experienced survivors.

Spoiler: 4 people escape and taunt him at the exit gates.

It plays out exactly as I have said many times on these forums, Freddy has a weak early game. The Nea plays it extremely safe while the rest slam gens. Freddy can't do a thing as he doesn't have a power for the first 60 seconds of the game. By the time survivors are asleep he's almost lost 3 gens. All you need to do against Freddy is hammer gens and play the early game safe to put him in a bad spot.

Do you know why his killrate is so high? because most survivors walk around picking their nose for the first two minutes of the game.

What you have is not a balance issue it's a matchmaking issue. With the old rank reset you had to grind from rank 10 to rank 1 every month but the first few weeks of red ranks solo queue was a piece of cake most games because all the survivors were good. It's why so many killers used to derank or try not to rank up too fast because they didn't want to face the top tier. The final week started to get a little watered down, not too much but then reset happened anyway.

Since then however they changed rank reset so that now anyone who plays a lot ends up in red ranks and once you're there you're pretty much stuck there unless you intentionally derank. Some might lose a few games and drop to rank 5 but it's not long before they pip back to red ranks.

You have survivors with 6000 hours in the same tier as people with 100 hours. Everyone is crammed up at the top. I'd wait and see what happens with MMR, if by some miracle it worked as intended solo survivor would become a lot easier even without any form of communication.

I recently bought Freddy and I've played two games on him so far.

Both were against entirely red and purple rank teams, and I got a 4K in both. The first game I just ran Blood Warden (which wasn't used), and the 2nd game I ran Blood Warden and Brutal Strength (again BW wasn't used).

So I have to agree he feels pretty damn powerful.

Although I admit 2 games isn't a wide sample, however I have played against him a lot and he feels oppressing to face.

It's amazing that people keep saying things like these, that you can just pick him up and 4k at red ranks with no experience he's that easy. Because at one point people considered him strong but fair and nobody considered him insanely overpowered - that rhetoric only started after the stats were released.

    Don't believe me?

    Here's Otz...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5uUUAz7m1U

Listen to what he says in the intro. (around 7:30) "I'm going to try to play a killer thats strong, thats fair". - After he declines to use nurse or spirit with the best add ons.

Now of course he wants freddy hard nerfed because thats what the viewers like to hear, despite freddy receiving no buffs between this video and the present day

  • I kind of wish they wouldn't show stats because now everyone thinks Freddy is the most overpowered killer in the game when he's probably not even top 3. He's not even difficult to beat and yet now survivors either give up, disconnect or go afk as soon as the trial loads.

  • I got my marshmellows ready for a good camping session and now this. Come on steam I'm waiting to put the game on.

  • @YourNightmare From my experience that's BS. I play PC and the majority are either 2 players or 3 players partys. This has been consistent for a long time now and those stats do not reflect my experience almost daily for years.

Unless you want to tell me that 3 people who just happen to be on each others friends lists are all playing solo and just happen to get into the same lobby at the same time.

    By order of popularity

    2 players -> 3 players -> solo players -> 4 players

Some days though the 3 players can outnumber the 2 players.

  • It's not even worth trying. You look at him for x seconds and he looks at you, a single blade of grass comes between you for a second and now your reveal is broken and restarted but he gets to keep his stalk progress. Congrats now in a direct staredown you don't have enough time to reveal him before he exposes you.

  • It sounds a lot better than what we have now, but it also sounds incredibly powerful revealing every aura reading perk the killer has to the survivor. Making it a better and more desirable perk might have people running it more often which won't help relieve the aggravation killers have towards the perk.

Lets address the two biggest issues players have with the perk:

    1) Overpowered in SWF because 3 survivors get the benefits of the perk (information on killer location) with none of the downsides (having your aura revealed)

    2) It has been abused more than almost any other perk by toxic players over the years.

I actually think the second one is the bigger deal as it's what causes much of the frustration. Certain people that run this perk are class clowns, often just manchildren screaming for attention like a child would. Sometimes as killer you can ignore these survivors, but it becomes harder to do so when they run Object as it creates a solid link between you and the troll player. It's harder to ignore them because there's a big shiny aura on your screen everytime you turn around, tbagging you from a safe distance and calling out your every move to their swf friends.

You know how much frustration killers have with toxic swf and this perk, you really need to break that link between the killer and the survivor. Trolls who are only out to antagonize other players and ruin the game for them shouldn't be enabled in doing so and given a way to force the killers attention onto them. Your game is severely lacking in people playing killer and it's going to be interesting to see if you have the courage to make changes that players want in order to keep the remaining killers.

Again this sounds better than what we have now but it also sounds like a strong perk that would be run quite often by multiple survivors in a trial. Your post doesn't make it clear but does the aura reading ONLY apply to the obsession? in which case it might not be as bad, but if other survivors get the same effect at a different distance like currently then it could still be problematic.

I think the part about revealing the killers aura everytime they see yours should go, as that would reveal any aura reading perks the killer has and that's going to be too powerful in a 4 man group.

Also the perk needs to be distance based not terror radius based because it completely ruins Freddy, imagine you're trying to mindgame a survivor around a loop just as the aura shows and they see you. It will probably happen a fair few times. Just make it outside x meters and this will fix the Freddy problem.

I am about one more toxic group like this away, from just face camping every game as bubba.

I'm at that point and it's therapeutic.

  • I've heard people say steam has had a few issues the past few days. I've had random bits of lag in DBD recently too.

  • I take the "revenge is sweet" approach. If it's a toxic group then my objective isn't to win anymore, it's to frustrate them the way they try to frustrate me. Camp and tunnel hard, hit them on the hook. Watch them rage after the game. Its why I've been on a Leatherface spree recently, he's really good at punishing toxic players.

  • She's listed as hard, and people did consider her a little tricky that's why you would see so many reddit threads of newbies asking for advice. The "shes braindead easy to play" is a myth that people use to throw shade.

A newbie to the game is not going to have the easiest time with her. At 4.4m/s you get easily looped, so just relying on speed and bloodlust isn't an option. You're not just relying on sounds you're going to need some game knowledge too because a lot of Spirit against good survivors is predicting what they will do next, where they want to go, how they might try to fool you.

She's not as hard as Nurse or Huntress is to learn but she's definitely not a killer that a newbie can pick up and win with.

  • I'm curious now, what was the reaction when the halloween dlc dropped and Myers could instakill? was it outrage? or was DS so unbalanced it drowned it all out lol

  • I still dont get why people act like Freddy is completely busted. Because of stats? The top percentage of players at this game, the sweatlords who go around from tournament to tournament all have Nurse as their number 1 pick. Perhaps there’s a case to be made for Freddy being too easy for his strength like Hillbilly was but he’s not actually overpowered. He’s not even a top 3 killer. In fact Freddy stands as a good example of general play vs high level play. He dominates public games yet barely gets a look-in in competitive play.

For me the balance is still survivor sided based on the early game, map design, and how swf can stack so much along with voice chat. I’d say map design is the number 1 issue.

  • What do you mean mori with little to no effort? All moris take effort now. Whether they use 10 seconds to do the mori animation or whether they use that time to hook you instead either way your survivor is toast. Sure he can avoid DS if you want to argue that but then he’s losing a BBQ or Pop stack which could be valuable.

    It's not a reach.

I'm calling your statement BIAS cause you're ignorant to the fact both sides use it.

Besides, we are the ones that asked you to name those survivors. YOU are the one who came with that claim or have you forgotten what u said in your statement and trying to brush it off? What's wrong. You can't back up your claim? Then why talk...

Because trash talking content creators gets threads closed here, and for the record I don’t agree with stretched res using Nurse players either.

I don’t see why you’re getting so aggravated by it.

  • If you have an NVIDIA card you should already have the software installed. If you have AMD then download reshade.

I cant help you exactly set these up but just play around or google them and you should find some helpful settings.

  • a lot of people have been discussing this recently so it’s not just you.

If you’re on PC you could try reshade or nvidia filters, on console as far as I know only your TV settings will help

  • Because a lot of killers camp and at this point the majority if survivors in this game decide the best strategy is for all 3 to sit around the hook.

Cute of you saying that you don't know the forum rules and that your comment was nothing more than a biased statement. I bet you don't even know what YOUR definition of 'toxic' is in your statement.

You get outplayed a lot & blame survivors for your lack of skill, don't you? and I'll quote @Toblerone007 on this one: "I think you're generalising and underestimating survivor content creators though. Using meta perks doesn't make them bad at the game."

We are free to discuss as long as there are boundaries.

For example I am free to give my opinion on Tru3 / Otz whatever it's good or negative as long as I don't insult them and I'm being respectful. As far as I know.

    Wow that’s a hell of a reach.

Why don’t you just to look them up? You’ll see some of them running stretch res. It is easy mode against the low-mid tier killers because it destroys most chances for mindgames. Maybe they have skill but it’s sure hard to tell when they’re running ez mode.

Your whole schtick seems to be downplaying the advantage from stretch res so I have a feeling for what kind of player you are.

Yea kicking gens really seems worthless unless you 100% know there isnt anyone on there for atleast 30 seconds.

Maybe insta regression would work too so they cant just touch the gen again mid chase. (only something like 5%)

I agree with that as well. 3-5% just something small. Sometimes you get a 2 man, you chase one and the other taps the gen, and you get this back and forth action. I’ve done it as a survivor too. Even something minor like 3% would stop that.

  • @Pilot said:

such as? Surely you know who to name and I wonder what's your definition of a "big name survivor"

I do but me making a comment like that and throwing out streamer names is very likely against the rules of the forum.

  • I’d like them to try slightly faster regression as an experiment. Maybe Ruin tier 2 or something, 300%. At the moment it doesn’t really feel worth kicking gens sometimes

  • What I find funny is how all of the “toxic” big name survivor main content creators that think they’re so good and have their fans calling them “teh bestest surviv0r evar!!” All use stretch res as it destroys any chance at mindgames. Stretch res and second chance perks galore, really shows how many of these people are carried.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/234157/why-are-killers-expected-to-have-skill-but-not-survivors

Most things that take no skill are slowly getting changed or removed. The map reworks (with the idea of removing busted set ups at least), The DS changes, old MoM, old insta heals, the key changes, ...

I'm all for those changes. Reward players for their skill and not because they have an item, addon or perk that grants them this, but this should apply to both sides. I admit though that sometimes the "no skill argument" doesn't really make sense. I'd argue that Pyramid Head actually takes a lot of skill for example. But killers like Freddy or add ons like iri head, they don't take much skill or effort to use. Freddys playstyle is extremely easy to pick up and he has all these small benefits to him like the slowdown add ons and the lack of a terror radius. I don't mind Freddy being a strong killer, but I don't like how easy it is to play the killer.

No the map reworks are the opposite. They were fine last year but the graphics updates have gone backwards. Look at new meat plant, literally no skill required. If you run windows of opportunity you’re invincible against against almost any killer aside from Nurse or Hag

  • 1 second into the match and 3-4 survivors are often on gens against good teams.

I dont see the issue. Survivors get to start their objective asap they spawn next to gens. Why shouldnt killers get to start their objective early?

  • Play killer for a few hours and you will see why.

Well, to be fair, if Laurie has been nerfed into the ground so should Michael!!

Seriously, there's not enough Daddy Myers. Everyone thinks they need an unfair advantage with Freddy when Michael can easily get it done. He definitely needs no buffs for sure! His addons might be the best in the entire game, ability to actually kill a healthy survivor? Normally I would say that is completely overpowered but with Myers I make an exception :)

Anyone saying his tier 1 needs buffing, look his tier 3 please, a 1-shot with a gigantic reach! He needs a slower start to balance out his 1-shot! And Oni has a slow start too for a reason.

You make a good point. Tombstone piece balances out a lot of his weaknesses.

  • Yeah you used to be able to curve around the rocks but now it kind of sucks you in.

  • I agree it’s annoying. Its not the idea of the perk I have an issue with, its the survivors that just run up and farm people off the hook without a care in the world 2 seconds after you hook them.

I feel BT is overpowered but no BT survivors are underpowered ya know?

Its all survivors can use against campers, and yet it allows people that take advantage of it to make braindead saves without any thought or strategy.

A survivor like that would only hurt their own team in the end tho. This would only work against a killer who doesn't really know what they are doing as well. Survivors definitely take skill to play.

And yes, looping effectively can be hard for newer survivor players.

No it really is an effective strategy and it only works against bad killers? Lol I’ve seen it work against Otzdarva himself. Some killers really have very little in their kit to deal with it

  • Infinites, Decisive, map rework last year (which they later backpeddled on in the graphics updates)

  • @Shoottokill_Shinsou said:

Because a single survivor is 25% of their team. Meaning that they should only have the difficulty of killer divided by 4. It isn't fair to have a killer that doesn't take skill, when killer is more powerful than the survivors and doesn't take extra skill to compensate. A powerful character that doesn't take skill is never fair. It's fine if a braindead killer is like wraith or doctor, because they are weaker to compensate.

They should also only be 1/4 as powerful as a killer and yet the game is full of survivors who want to go toe-to-toe with the killer. That wouldn't be the case if they were only 25% as powerful.
