  • They've thus far ignored feedback on a lot of the map reworks too, and breakable walls. I've never seen a studio so determined to ignore the actual players.

No, I don't want spirit to become some F-Tier killer, all I'm asking for is some kind of hint that she's phasing. I don't want it to be overly obvious like what happened when she was bugged, but at the bare minimum just a small audio cue telling the survivor that the spirit is phasing.

And don't bring whataboutism into this, I absolutely hate dead hard, OoO, haddonfield, and all the other stupid stuff there are on the other side and I'd really like it if they were nerfed, but just because those things are broken doesn't mean that Spirit is a balanced killer. The whole problem with Spirit is that you have to guess if she's going to phase or not, and despite what you and others may think, there isn't any real counterplay to it (unless your using iron will and the spirit isn't using stridor). It's a guessing game where the odds are stacked heavily against you pretty much ensuring that if its a good spirit you get screwed over quickly.

And stop with the petty over generalization. I could say stuff like "Killers are never happy unless every map in the game has no pallets or vaults and they can instantly win the match whenever they feel like it." But I won't because it isn't true. Most people, me included, just want a fairer chance against her. Look at Blight, Oni, and old hillbilly. Those killers are very strong but also offer up a fair amount of counter play ensuring that both sides have a fair chance against each other. No one complains about them, despite the fact that they're strong because they have fair counterplay.

It's not hard to guess. If she stands still just don't run towards her and you don't get hit. If shes far away from you then she's likely phasing to catch up. I can't remember ever falling for the stand still mindgame. Just position yourself for all possibilities. And seriously play her, that's how I learn to predict her. A lot of spirits are very predictable.

  • A perk where you stab the killer with a glass shard and get a free escape off their shoulder made it into the game so at this point anything cam

It's because it's no fun playing go fish with spirit. People come to play dead by daylight. You can't read a spirit; you cannot see them. The counterplay people want is much simpler than pressing space bar. It's as simple as being able to react to her phasewalk which you cannot currently do. You have to make a guess. ( I will admit some guesses are better than other sometimes) If the spirit is competent, you're ######### lol.

You can read a spirit, play her and you'll learn to do so reliably.

Regardless though do you think it's fun for most of the other killers? where a survivor just runs in a circle over and over again and then drops a pallet on your head? and then runs to another to do the same thing over and over again? there's a reason why players especially at the high ranks are moving towards the "unfun" killers and away from the killers survivors enjoy, because having your friends hit gens while you just drop pallet after pallet wins more games than it should and a lot of killers are powerless against it

  • @TheArbiter said:

Early game, and depending on how good your teammates are at conserving pallets, it is a pretty much free escape from chase, late game when there are non left i'd rather have sprint burst or dead hard

Thinking pallets ever run out, lol

"I also feel like Freddys free camping is something of note"

Why would someone camp while playing Freddy? It is like camping while playing Spirit or Nurse...

Why wouldn't they camp? people camp with every killer.

  • None of the changes are surprising.

    • Trickster still has the crippling issues he had on the ptb. As expected they nerfed the one add-on people actually liked.
    • Smash Hit is now the most powerful exhaustion perk in the game. (that can be used more than once). Watch the video and you make it across half the map effectively ending the chase right there. Bearing in mind they're releasing this alongside a 110% movement speed killer.
    • Starstruck will be nerfed by mid-chapter most likely.
    • No way out it's still just as trash as before. It's just something that people who rely on NOED to win them games will be interested in, good survivors will just hide it out and complain it's boring.

They might as well just slap up a sign that says "come play our newest craptastic killer so that survivors can have fun tbagging you from the exit gates with their new perks and survivor".

With how restless survivors are becoming regarding queue times and the slop that BHVR keeps churning out I think it's safe to assume that the killer A.I is right around the corner. It must be or else they wouldn't keep doing the things they're doing.

The most hilarious thing is that people are perfectly fine when M1 killers are forced to mindgame and guess survivor's movements (while survivors use their 3rd person cam and red light advantage), but go completely nuts when killer gets that kind of advantage and they lose it.

    Survivor's hypocrisy at its finest.

That’s what I keep saying lol but its obvious none of them play killer. This is what trapper, wraith, learherface, myers players etc had to put up with for 4 years and think how bad and pallet heavy the maps used to be.

The best/worst entitlement is when they say “its just a 50/50” with Spirit”, so their complaint is that both players have an equal chance, they’re literally demanding that they have the advantage in a chase.

I cant blame the survivors though years of whack balance from 2016-2018 ish has given them a skewed view of balance in the game

  • Why do people act like it’s a fact she needs massive and obvious counterplay? So she can become the next Demogorgan?

Half the things ok the survivor side, maps as well have very little counterplay and killers have to learn to live with it. Just use pallets and windows and learn to read Spirits. Its like survivors arent happy if the counterplay is anything more demanding than “press space bar to drop pallet for complete safety”.

The Nurse is more fun to play against though, in my opinion at least. The reason for this is that when I go down to a Spirit or have to slug through an incredibly long generator time on Freddy, it's just boring and not fun at all. It's more fun to play against a Nurse though because she actually makes the chase entertaining, even if I lose 99% of the time. Spirit and Freddy just aren't fun to go against. Also, getting an average Nurse is also fun because she will never catch you.

I would disagree just because pallets and windows/walls protect you against Spirit, Freddy and Deathslinger, they don’t protect you against Nurse.

The second part I believe is why people don’t mind her as much, because there are so many easy Nurses to beat out there. Likely people doing dailies or practise.

  • @Brokenbones said:

The only thing that worries me about Freddy changes is a comment from Ethan/Almo on the subject. I believe he said something along the lines of "Freddy is too strong, but we're not sure in what area/how".

Maybe what needs changing is more subjective but if you ask me it's how he can camp people to die and ignore BT because of oblivious

Sounds about right, balance team has their head in the spreadsheets rather than the game.

I also feel like Freddys free camping is something of note. Even if you dont have BT, a normal killer might respect it thinking its their and go after the fresh survivor, Freddy needs only to look at the left of the screen to know for a fact that BT won’t be active if the unhooking survivor is asleep. Then its a free slug or maybe even another hook if he wants to risk DS.

Freddys lethality also comes when hes knocking down survivors left and right and using BBQ/Discordance to teleport to Gens for Pop kicks.

Freddy is a bit of a mid-late game killer imo, a bit like Hag. He grows with power when survivors are asleep, the map is covered in snares, and hes juggling survivors for free Pop kicks constanty. His early game is incredibly weak, if a swf team rushes gens you can see how much it hurts him but naturally you play solo and claudette goes to hide in a bush, Nea goes to raid every chest for a flashlight and Bill....ends up being Bill. It’s all wasted time.

  • And this is why it’s ridiculous everyone complains about Spirit and Freddy but not Nurse. Nurse has less counterplay than Spirit or deathslinger.

Also killers like spirit, slinger, pyramid and yes even freddy often have to sweat for their wins. Nurse is harder to learn than all of those that much is true but when you reach a certain point with Nurse its actually easier games and victories than with any of those other killers.

  • Not even commenting on the balance implications, you’d need bots for this to work because bringing a survivor back minutes after they are sacrificed there is no guarantee that player hasn't left the lobby and moved on to another game

I am of two minds on this.

One one hand, folks are kinda taking it off topic with memes and it borders the line of bullying the person....

.......on the other hand OP is straight up insulting and passively aggressively attacking people just for playing a killer and with a nonsense reason behind it at that. (And no intention of actually discussing or hearing anyone's opinion but their own making the thread pointless anyways)

Moderation can be tough, that's all I am saying about that lol.

I get the feeling Sluzzy isn’t serious, hence the massive exaggerations. They just love creating a storm.

Also I was looking at the dbd stats website the other day and I saw a Sluzzy on there, if its the same player (and very likely it is) they’re in the top 150 players in terms of stats. Not including private profiles.

I think sluzzy can run rings around most killers.

Everything about Leatherface in DBD was a mistake. He attracts the literal worst of the player base like Meg and Nancy while literally existing as the ultimate camper with incentive to face camp rarer (Jake) survivors for some dumb cosmetics.

    Yes, I hate him.

Leatherface elevates camping to an art form.

Yeah that was the one. Its not the only example I’ve seen but it shows how well some people can hide their cheats. I don’t report often but if I see something fishy that doesn’t look right I report just so that it may help the moderation team make a case against a player if it ends up being a trend.

There is a distinct difference between seeing someones name and then going out of your way to go to someones channel and watch the game so you can see what they are doing, what they are doing and what perks they have.

The fact that some people think this is a fair comparison is completely absurd.

Everyone in the game can see your name, the dozens of players you go against can see your name.

Broadcasting the game is a choice. If you choose to broadcast your game to the world you can’t be shocked that some people will look at your screen. I’m not against a streamer mode or them trying to block stream sniping but ive seen calls for it to be bannable which is ridiculous.

I personally dont care about random people clicking my profile looking to give me salt, however if its broadcast to someone with 6000 followers and he rants and rants about me THEN I start to get a little worried. It leads to witch hunts.

  • Its universally hated but complete silence from the PR team so far. Even the fog whisperers have said it sucks.

This needs an urgent fix by the mid chapter.

  • Yeah I’ve been eyeing up those toxic Neas for a long time. I’d love to have a mask made from her face

.....wait, that didn’t sound right. Am I on a watch list now? 😟

  • People should have an option to opt-out. Its the hypocrisy of streamers that gets me, they cry about stream sniping but they capture video of other players daily on twitch and youtube and profit from it. Some games let you hide your usernames, DBD should do the same. Some of these streamers use streamsniping screens to protect themselves but don’t hide the names of anyone else. Hypocrites.

I don’t really like streamers if only because I’ve heard the abuse they throw at players. The smaller streamers are the worst because some of them have no professional standards whatsoever and will bring up profiles etc or post their names on twitter and all it takes is a few idiots reading it to take it upon themselves to harass that player.

  • What is report abuse exactly?

If you see strange behaviour shouldnt you report it?

I only submit a ticket if I have 100% videoproof of cheating or griefing. If I see something that smells fishy but I have no direct evidence I report just in case. Maybe there’s no video proof because sometimes its hard to get but say I report a player who seems to be running faster than they should, not like 200% speed or anything obvious but more like a little bit faster, and lets say another 10 people that day report the player for looking suspicious then while its not direct proof it shows the report team that there is something fishy with this player. I imagine it helps with video evidence that isnt 100% clear too. If a survivor appears like they’ve gone through a wall but the video doesnt quite catch it but 20 other people have reported this player for teleporting then it paints a picture.

Because I’ve seen some people on streams who go low-key with their cheats so its hard to capture. I remember when tru3 went against a survivor who seemed cocky but mostly normal all game, at the very end they instahealed themself after they went down, it was a “blink and you’ll miss it moment”. If this wasnt a streamer there would have been no video evidence as nobody would have had time to hit record to capture it

Lets also not forget the noob trap walls like the ones in the badham's preschool/coal tower 2nd floor breakable walls that are solely breakable to screw over newer players who are trying killer.

For a mechanic that can only be interacted with by killers breakable walls are almost exclusively survivor sided.

    Are you surprised?

Also survivors can sadly still make the badham fence even running the long way around the school. That damn fence needs to go, along with a lot of the rest of badham. Those maps got adjusted twice and they’re still awful

    “Isn’t even all that”

Its one of the most powerful anti-slug perks out there, infinitely better than something like buckle up, and therefore its one of the most powerful survivor perks.

  • Its not just hatchets, Head On is busted too. At least hatchets are moving so latency is a thing. I dont get how head on gets bigger every update and now it reaches about 8m in front

I think you mean she's the hardest to learn, which sure - you'd be correct

And while I agree that doesn't mean it's okay to slug everyone to death at 5 gens. It's not exclusively nurse's who do this but they probably make up the majority of killers who quite literally slug until everyone's down, their unbreakables used then they 1 hook everyone to death

Well I was just going by the stats that everyone sticks by to say (x killer) is op.

But really yeah nurses slug at 5 gens because Nurse attracts the sweatiest of tryhards. Having said that the denate about hooks vs kills is all the rage right now. Theres a reason why killers are resorting to slug and 1 hook and that reason is because its literally impossible to hook everyone and win the game against good survivors. You cant do chase - hook, chase - hook, chase - hook. No matter how short the chases are the gens still get done

  • @Brokenbones said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2021642#Comment_2021642

Tell that to the Nurse slugging the whole team to death at 5 gens

Well she’s the weakest kill in the game so she needs to play hard

  • It seems a lot of the community hates them. Of course Behaviour is too proud to go back on them.

The chases are the fun part of DBD, having the rush and excitement of a chase interrupted by some stupid breakable wall really takes a lot of wind out of what makes the game fun.

You can maybe break some at the start but it depends on spawn locations, also spending 30 seconds walking around a large building like ormond breaking the walls and then going for a gen gives the survivors plenty of free gen time

  • This perk is about all that have killers have to combat the gen speeds. Maybe there’s a reason the killers are slugging.

  • I think sanctum of wrath is one of the worst map for killers. I don't know the stats but I can not remember the last time I won on this map, feels like I lose the vast majority of games when this comes up. It doesn't help how you need to camp one side and if you lose 1 gen on that side you're basically screwed.

  • Well that explains why I've seen a few survivors run it recently. Now if only we had a perk that lets us see Blendettes easier too.

  • It's true. It has been proven time and time again that killers can't win via hooks if the survivors rush gens, you need to slug. So they've nerfed slugging about 4 times since I started playing, WGLF being the latest. It gets people up if the killer turns their back for just a few seconds.

Meanwhile survivors still complain about BBQ.....LOL!

I believe they were removed due to them being a buggy mess. Although I wasnt around for it, iirc sometimes you wouldn't load in as the killer that you wanted to play as, other times you could just crash.

No way. That doesn't sound like the Dead by Daylight I know 😯

  • They used to have splinters, offerings which let you try killers for free (though no perks or add ons) but for some reason they got rid of those.

I think it would be good to see them come back, and perhaps this time give the killers their 3 default perks to use.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

I don't understand why it's a big deal if a survivor tries to kobe right before you rescue them. As long as it doesn't put them in the struggle phase, I have no problem with it.

Because if you get off a generator, run across half the map, go to unhook a survivor and they kobe for the laugh then you just wasted your own time and wasted the teams time by getting off the generator and you get no points for it since you couldn't unhook, all this because some moron wanted to attempt a kobe after they saw you run across the map for them.

It's selfish and I certainly won't ever try to help these people endgame.

  • That's the great irony, it's a casual game with simple mechanics yet is played by some of the sweatiest tryhards in all of gaming and takes hundreds of hours to be competent.

Of course somethings let you get results without that kind of competence as skill. NOED can let killers get results with no skill and for survivors its certain maps.

  • rugby ball WGLF and bitter murmur bicep are what I always saw too. Then there's the obvious hot dog iron maiden.

  • This is where there's no point playing nice. I've done padded jaws Trapper and still been tbagged and had keys used against me.

These people cry about sweat builds but then pull out all the stops against the bad builds or low-mid tier killers. Shame they have the devs wrapped around their little finger and no doubt more killers will be receiving nerfs to satisfy them soon.

  • Keep facecamping them, you're doing god's work out there buddy

  • SWF burning haddonfield is annoying but in fairness I think it's likely due to the "fall from a great height" challenge and Haddonfield is the best map for it. That damn challenge makes it in to every rift I wish they would stop recycling it.

  • They're done with PH that much should be obvious. They milked the dlc while it was hot and now he gets left to rot like a number of other killers.

  • lmao! he's overrated if anything. His early game is incredibly weak which can be devastating to a killer.

  • 3%-5% regression on a klick, and ruin tier 2 regression (300%) after kicking a gen.

Ruin would still be useful for the auto regression. Right now kicking a gen feels worthless at times.

  • Billy because I know hearing his chainsaw at the start it's going to be a sweaty game and he's probably going to be within a chase within 10 seconds.

Maybe Nurse but it's 50/50 whether they're going to be good or bad. With Billy the sweaty games seem consistent.

  • You're trying to look at him, it's natural I do it all the time too as its intuitive but for some reason the game doesn't count it. You're looking downwards at an angle, you need to aim your camera much higher. It feels weird but it works much better. He can still be quite wonky at times though.

  • This would be amazing! back to the queue you go Blendy.

  • Yeah I want this really bad. If some console player wants to camp or tunnel me out then he deserves to receive my salt post game. Make it happen.
