    • Make it distance related rather than terror radius
    • Survivor loses endurance effect if they tap a gen or unhook (like DS)

    Good trade. Benefits everyone.

  • Rephrase the question "should stealth killers and freddy be free to camp hooks and avoid BT", there's your answer.

  • I've noticed that too. Worst part is a lot of the big influences tend to jump on board with this hypocrisy as well.

  • How many of these threads do we need before somebody gets the picture that players are not happy?

Its not too powerful its just useful for survivors to use, i could say BBQ and Chilli is powerful because many people use it, lets remove BBQ and because its not easy to combat.

It's very easy to combat, if a survivor goes down you get to a locker. Also take away the bloodpoint bonus (which has no effect in game) and see how many people still use it.

No, I actually feel less stress and frustration playing killer than I do solo survivor. Killer, in my opinion is in a really good state right now if you are competent with the power of your selected killer. How many hours do you have in the game?

While I disagree that killer is in a good spot, I do agree that killer is less frustrating than solo survivor. That's why I became a killer main now except for when friends are on for swf. As killer at least I have a chance to win, and don't have to sweat my butt off to carry a team.

    But I don't think it's a balance issue I think it's a matchamaking/ranking issue. Hopefully MMR fixes it.

  • Actually when 4 survivors stack all their second chances this is pretty balanced

  • @BlindMole said:

Why not just revert the nerf? Increase the lunge by 100% per token, isn't that what it did on the ptb? Might be mistaken, can anyone confirm or correct me?

It was but survivors said it was op on all the Myers running around with it and so it had to be nerfed into an F tier perk

  • @Sluzzy said:

He's definitely not going to be weak. Another killing machine with 3 awesome perks as usual. Survivor on the hand should pass.

I know right. I was on the other side of a pallet and he was throwing knives at me and I died. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE PALLET???

  • @Sluzzy said:

Spirit is certainly way overpowered, but this is very true for the majority of killers as well. In the majority of matches survivors can not deal with killers and their overwhelming perks that halt the game and how slow and hard it is to get the objective done. Killers can track too easily. Killers can apply too much pressure. Survivors are weak.

Who are the most balanced killers in your opinion? Are there any balanced killers?

  • @MadLordJack said:

The problem with Coup is that it's like Dead Hard - it interferes with normal chase mechanics in a pretty unfair way. Making it stronger could literally turn it into the killers Dead Hard, which would just make everything worse.

And? I don’t see DH being nerfed anytime soon. Besides 5 tokens spread across 4 survivors isn’t much. Not when its 2 hits to down anyway

  • @Caleegi said:

No. This has to be a joke lmao. Dead Hard is one of the best if not the best exhaustion perks which is why so many people use it. There are ways to combat it by baiting people to use it or waiting a few seconds.

How is it a joke? You just said it’s one of the best perks and many people use it, which normally comes from soemthing being too powerful.

You say there are ways to combat it, but if it was so easy to combat it wouldnt be one of the best perks nor would anyone be running it.

  • People saying things shouldnt be permanently increased.

Well fixated got buffed after much begging where you slap it on and now your movement speed is increased no matter what permanently. This is huge for stealth.

In chase spine chill permanently increases vaulting because the killer isnt going to be turning around for every window. Throw on resilience and every window you take is increased while injured which is basically the same.

This sounds like a good perk

i watched the first 2 minutes. That Adam does what every survivor does who doesn't know how to play against Spirit: he runs in a straight line with an obvious path to a structure. Those are easy downs for every Spirit. Second hit on Cheryl: well, Rancor. She obviously didn't move so it was easy to figure out she is hiding there. Third hit against Meg: He's saying "she's too easy" after downing her without even using Spirits power against her. I ended the stream after this. Those survivors were obvious noobs and he was biased from the start. He wasn't even using the sounds to pinpoint people, it was just very obvious were they were. I'm usually rank 1 after some days past rank reset at EU servers. Come and play against some of those guys. I still lose matches or 2k with her even tho i have maybe 300-400h alone with her (she's not my main anymore tho).

    • 90% of Spirits are Bots. They can be easily outplayed by faking a run to a pallet, stop and walk away. Or drop the pallet on the "wrong" side. Slow vault or fast vault in a direction she doesn't anticipated. I escape fairly often against the usual Spirits
    • Nurse is much stronger. I've never seen a (non-cheating) slugging Spirit with Infectious killing everyone in the first 2 minutes. A good Nurse is horrible to play against and much more unfun to me, even though i would say i'm fairly okay in juking and mindgaming the mediocre Nurses
    • There are some "guaranteed" downs for Spirit if she doesn't mess up but even then you can try to juke her/ mindgame her (double back, change direction, fake your scratchmarks and walk away, be creative!) to gain distance. I don't think that's unfair at all. If a Bubba caughts me in a deadzone, i'm dead, end of story. Mindgaming is part of every killer gameplay btw. Saying it's not counterplay is just wrong, because if you mindgame my M1 Wraith at a L-T wall then you just countered me. If i would have caught you with Wraith in a deadzone it would be a free hit, how is that more fair?
    • Remember it's about wasting the killers time and Spirit is a very slow killer after using her power. She can either use it in chases OR for map traversal. Survivors always complain about not having this absolute shutdown hard-counter, but you're not supposed to deny a killers power completely. You're not supposed to run someone for 5 gens. You're supposed to go down eventually, because there are 12 possible hook states.

Yeah I imagine this is most of the spirit haters. They get the game, play survivor, read the reddit, watch a scott jund video, hear spirit is all kinds of OP, go into a game at rank 14 vs rank 14-20 survivors with a pre-conceived bias and in their mind have it proven true without questioning the results further

  • @BadMrFrosty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/237185/i-can-t-main-spirit-anymore

Typically, I've found a lot of players who main Spirit don't have the patience or skill to play nurse, so they just crank the volume on their headphones, run the best meta perks, and go afk playing MiNd GaMe SiMuLaToR (bonus points when you make the guessing even more interactive with stridor). There's no real skill that goes into just 'hearing real good and zooming', but a lot of Spirit mains, I theorize (me forming an idea, but not necessarily saying this is fact), are terrified of losing or not 4k'ing. So they do whatever they can within their power to win, and their killer of choice reflects this. If she's ever changed to require even the tiniest amount of actual skill, these people are in for a rough reality when they have to switch to Nurse (and actually overcome her many bugs/issues) or play other killers.

That’s a really ignorant way of looking at it. It’s like me saying survivors just want to be able to run in a circle, drop a pallet and tbag with complete safety. They’re afraid of not escaping so they desperately want killers to NOT play other killers, just keep using the ones that are easy to loop where survivors control the chase.

  • Really? The only good thing about that chapter was Undying imo which is just a bandaid for bad totem spawns. The rest was entirely forgettable (including Blight).

The worst chapter imo is Halloween. It introduced a perk so broken and overpowered that it has impacted the game more than any other for the next 4 years. Not to mention at the time the original versions were the most unfair and unfun perks in videogame history. Also Haddonfield.

Another bad one was Darkness among us. Not only has Legion been nothing but suck since day 1 but he came with an engine update and the sounds in the game has never been as good as they were previously since.

Shattered Bloodlines was a good one. Good killer and some solid perks all around. Also demise of the faithful, interesting killer and head on and corrupt intervention and infectious fright are all great perks.

  • imo it shouldn't be but if survivors can flick and 360 then killers should be able to do this too

  • Did you have fun?

  • @Dragonshensi said:

Honestly from both sides this game would be more fun if the killer was more powered. It would force the survivors to work together more, value their time and goals, etc. and best of all they couldn’t afford to be toxic and troll. This game is suppose to be horror, though honestly it’s a nightmare for the killer.

See they want this game to still be either 4 vs 1, or 1vs1vs1vs1vs1. Historically they have floated the idea of every survivor their themselves and that they're not necessarily a team.

This in my opinion worked with the old hatch because there was almost guaranteed safety for 1 survivor. Now however I find that more often than not you die at endgame, the killer closes the hatch and the gates for me never spawn far enough to make it out. So it makes no sense survivors not working as a team because there's such little chance of escaping otherwise.

  • Sometimes a company needs it to do anything though. Look at survivor movement, they went up in arms and BHVR just scrapped months of animation work to appease people.

The problem for me is they've had almost 5 years to learn from DBD and we end up getting Gideon god pallet plant. How did they not foresee the issues? the worst part is when it comes to criticism it's complete silence, which makes me think it's staying like this for a good long time. I don't enjoy ragging on a company but sometimes I'm baffled at the quality of things they put out.

Bugs aside a lot of the game is good but it just seems weird how map design in this game always tends to have huge glaring issues.

  • My man, it was generally agreed upon that old Bubba was not a very good killer. Old Bubba required "skill" because he was very underpowered, so you needed to be really good with him to overcome the handicap. New Bubba has most of the same weaknesses to be honest, but now he can catch up a little better with the chainsaw rather than going down.

  • You can definitely kick him everytime, you just have to go for it asap and not delay.

  • I don't expect a 4k. I just want a game where I feel like I lost because the other side played well and showed a lot of skill, not held shift+w, dropped god pallets, and pressed E for free distance.

  • fix the windows, please.

Seal off the little one like last year, this is an infinite against 110% killers.

With the larger one, it doesn't need to be ultra unsafe like it was last year, just move the window a tiny bit closer to the breakable wall.

  • @Kebek said:

When 4 potatoes face off against 1 potatoe, the single potatoe team will have the advantage since he has 4 times less potatoes on his team and has to coordinate and rely only on his single potatoe "skills".

That's why killers win too much. Even if you overbuff potatoes, there's still going to be 4 times more potatoes in one team. You would know that if you played during infinites with only 3 killers in DBD and they still managed to kill just as often as they do now.

lol potato math, I like it

    I made a little picture.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/PT6WBLMA5U6G/groaning-shithouse.png

I assume they're talking about when window 1 is open and 2 is barred, as window 2 is worthless coming from that side.

I actually haven't seen this one recently myself but it definitely seems like it could be a near infinite. There's some blocks that the survivor has to run around by the breakable door window, but the time saved from the killer having to go long around window 1 (or vault it) would definitely make up for the distance lost on each vault for the survivor. Bamboozle or go home for this setup it looks like.

The breakable wall doesn't really do much thats the issue, it's too far from the door. I think blood lodge has the same thing where theres no point to having a door because it's a mile from the window.

I've never seen 1 and 2 open at the same time but 2 being looped becomes an infinite against 110% killers

  • @gatsby said:

    @TheClownIsKing

The antidote is just a more niche, harder to use anti-loop mechanic on a Killer that already had anti-loop.

Honestly, it gives the Clown more options, but the entire rework is weaker than the exhaustion bottle add-on they removed.

Yeah it feels like too little, too late. It's a little extra for Clown but it doesn't really fix any of his issues and tends to have him reloading a lot more.

  • Don't suppose anyone could explain why this window was brought back? it was removed now it's back. What gives? escape rates of the map?

  • I read this a lot, it's why nobody wants to play killer.

Regions don't make a difference on the skill of people you verse... I play at all times and maybe 1% of games if a sweaty SWF, I don't mean your typical "toxic SWF" who click their flashlights and t-bag, I mean ACTUAL tourney squads and those are the most fun games for me since they actually bring a challenge.

This game is not as much of a sweat fest as you think

Yeah and the number of killers you run into that are 5000 hour tournament players are very slim too.

Fact is that balance trickles down. If killer and survivor aren't balanced at the highest level with ultra good and experienced players on both sides, then they aren't balanced for good players either. I see plenty of good swf at red ranks, all know how to loop well, all have a lot of game knowledge, all play smart. All spread out and rush the gens. Killers like Trapper and demogorgan don't suddenly become viable against this. Hell I see players with more hours than many tournament players, only difference is they probably don't have unique call outs for part of the map but its easy to describe areas anyway.

We don't use killrates to say freddy op. We use our own experiences. Also, if you go by killrates, nurse is the worst killer in the game. Demo is balanced.

no everyone uses killrates for freddy and its the reason he's getting nerfed

If we go by our own experiences then freddy isn't as strong as he's made out to be

  • It has been brought up multiple times. Survivors said its fine so don’t expect anything to change.

They weakened this window in early 2020 just to bring it back in late 2020. Then they added the fat shame tree as the cherry on the cake. Its an intentional choice.

Also the small window is an infinite against Deathslinger and Huntress.

  • He’s very latency dependent. If he works, he’s strong. If he doesn’t, he’s just an m1 killer that makes survivors snap out of it occasionally.

Just look at a previous comment I sent with the link to the twitch clip

We did. Rank 14-20 gameplay as we expected. Any killer can clean up at those ranks.

Sad part is? The developers balance around this level.

If spirit is so braindead and easy then lets see your friend take on a rank 1 swf with meta perks. Should be easy right?

I cant tell if youre just trying to bait, if you are wp

If not, stop acting like all youre going against are sweaty SWF. I understand your favorite streamer probably thinks so as well but I think its time for you to form your own opinion

Come play my region and you will see that is the case. Those that have playtime listed start at 2k hours minimum, ive seen it go up to 7000 hours regularly.

Console survivors are just as good but cant see their playtimes but they tend to do 4man swf a lot more.

Its actually much rarer to see a killer on this level and if you do its either a streamer or a Russian nurse likely practising for a tournament (god hep you if you go against this, slugging and tunneling at 5 gens with stretched res). This makes sense with the queue times because nobody wants to play killer, so most left are either green rank casuals or people that play for a living

  • @gibblywibblywoo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2050314#Comment_2050314

I know you're baiting but those 1% swfs barely exist nowadays, most left the game long ago. Nowadays they're about as common as a pro Nurse. Yes, we need more killers that can counter the top teams. But having a killer that basically has no counterplay is not the way to do it. Nurse, as strong as she is, does have counterplay. I don't see anyone complaining about Nurse.

The killer should be strong in the killer players hands, not the other way around.

I dont get where you’re pulling your stats from.

I play on PC EU. Seeing survivors with 2500-6500 hours is the norm. These survivors are certainly not rare.

The god tier spirits? Now those I never see. Most are boosted by tunnel and NOED like all killers.

This is how I know you’re just repeating what you’ve read online, you act like Nurse has so much counterplay while Spirit has none. Spirit has far more counterplay. Nurse can teleport through walls ffs there’s a reason she’s the top killer in tournaments. The tourney players all agree Nurse is much stronger. Someone like zubat a very experienced killer says Nurse is much stronger, and then you have survivor mains like angrypug, salty and with thousands of hours lol but has seen it all and knows Nurse is stronger and theres NOTHING you can do against a great Nurse. Im only using these as examples but its something you’ll hear again and again by people who have thousands of hours on the game and have seen and gone against it all over the years. You can day Spirit is easier to play but you can’t say Nurse has more counterplay, or that its easier to beat a good Nurse. Nurse is the only killer in the game that at this moment in time could actually be called op.

Nobody complains about Nurse because nobody sees her anymore, let alone good ones. Spirit is only hated so much because she’s popular.

  • Yeah its repeating maps a lot.

Are you for real? Rank15 gameplay, account level 160+ versing actual grey rank survivors?

I'm not saying that Spirit doesn't have bulls***t mechanics but c'mon... rank15... of course your friend is going to slaughter them but he could as well played no-blink-nurse or perkless clown or one-handed while cooking his dinner and the result would have been the same.

Sad thing is, matches like this might be what BHVR is balancing their game off.

Is it actually rank 15? 😂 well there’s a surprise

Should see a Hillbilly at rank 15. They absolutely crush other teams

  • I will warn you a lot of players will treat you very unkindly. Others might just ignore you

Personally I see an object I am extremely toxic to them.

  • Tru3 has pointed this out a few times. The game is balanced around 2 kills/2 escapes, yet its so quick to give you ENTITY DISPLEASED at red ranks for a number of hooks and 2 kills

I dont care about pips or ranks though. Ive been rank 1, got the achievement, dont feel the need to prove anything. If I go up i go up, if i go down i go down. You cna be matched with green ranks at red, and vice versa red ranks at green so what does any of it matter? I just play my rancor roulette build now and have fun rather than trying to go full meta and win

You’re talking about the highest level in this game possible. I’m sorry man but let me just say, ######### that level. I like DBD for being a casual game and the highest level that competes in tournaments is such a joke. The average player base can lose against any killer but will pretty much never win against Nurse or Spirit if they’re good which is a problem.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2050333#Comment_2050333

Dude, I’ve been playing Oni a lot lately and he’s so fun even though I’m pretty trash with him.

Then how do I escape against so many spirits?

Nurse however I agree, shes in a leage of her own

But its easy to say most killers will never win against a good swf. I see many comprised of players with between 2000-6000 hours. You arent beating these games with a clown or a trapper. Umbra is a legendary huntress and even she says swf bullies huntress so she has to switch to spirit to compete.

  • @GannTM said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2050314#Comment_2050314

By viable, do you actually mean viable at winning every game? Nurse and Spirit both need nerfs because of how uncounterable they are.

Viable at having a chance of winning.

Even then, Spirit is a maybe. Only Nurse has a chance of winning every game.

For every other killer in the game some trials are unwinnable. That is not good design no matter how you try to spin it. Both sides should have a fair shot at winning

  • Everybody says its terrible but BHVR being out of touch with players again seems to think they’ve done a pretty good job so far

  • Only 2 killers are actually viable.

Lets nerf one of them so we only have 1 viable killer

The swf squads really don’t like losing do they? Why even bother playing a game when there’s no risk of losing at all?

  • That’s probably because you give up on 1st hook Sluzzy

  • @Firellius said:

Okay, but what is DH's competition? Distortion? Off the record? Poised? Technician? Visionary?

When something is almost always on the table, it doesn't necessarily mean that that is overpowered. It can also mean that other perks are just not viable.

Considering there are 4 survivors to 1 killer, survivor perks should always be less impactful.

The problem this game has is that it was so poorly designed and balanced in 2016-2017 that survivors now only accept genuine second chance perks as good perks and they undervalue any other good perks.

Survivors often see perks from a different pov. Take old DS for example. A lot of people said “its just a 5 second stun” and thats all anybody ever saw so it didnt seem like a big issue. Then you player killer and realize just how much damage that extra chase did, especially if there was more than one.

The problem with survivor perks is that theh stack. This quick tap E for distance can be used every chase for every survivor. That results in about 12 extended chases for killer and if theres a lot in that area to work with it can be very damaging to the killers time.

  • @Crypticghoul said:

I'd just like to add another rant to the pile that I stopped playing killer because I'm tired of the obnoxious toxicity and second chance perk spam from SWFs. I find it hard to want to play as killer anymore.

But the queue times are so ridiculous for survivor at night that it's just not even worth waiting the time it takes to get into a match, which sucks because I would like to play but at this point it feels like you're waiting as long as the actual match takes.

Yeah its very tilting. Seeing the same maybe 6-8 perks on every survivor, they hold W every chase, tap E to outplay, and have a second chance for every scenario, all of which aren’t very skillful but they’ll tbag at every pallet and get abusive after the game as if they’re esports level gamers. Many of these survivors are carried by perks and abysmal map design and it boosts their egos. The most boosted their ego is the kore they tbag. I’ve had a tbagger almost every game now for no reason.

I find myself so tilted by all of this that rather than quit im just playing in scummy ways. Facecamping, hitting on hook, kind of funny watching these players rage quit though when the killer decides to be mean. But thats all the game has become now, each side trying to be as toxic as possible to ruin the game for everyone else.

In fear of derailing this topic here I go.

    "You're one of those people"

Yes I am, and I have the skills to back it up. I would unironically consider myself an incredibly good PH player, unlike everything else in this game which I'd say I'm pretty awful at.

It was a buff. To a good pyramid head the change was a buff; very, very few survivors are able to exploit the small window of time given when you cancel your power, and the reduced cooldown on POTD makes both missing less punishing and hitting even more rewarding.

I stand by my statement that he's one of the strongest killers in this game, and if you think he's only good in "a few situations" then you just need to get better.

He has one glaring weakness, which is the predrop-and-w-key style of gameplay as that renders him effectively powerless, however the second someone attempts to loop you it's over.

Everyone called it a nerf, even Otz called it a nerf whose word seems to be gospe around here.

You’re literally the only person who has ever called it a buff. Even the devs said its a nerf.

But ok, I’ll come to you for any and all killer advice from now on because clearly you’re the expert

edit: for what its worth I agree with you about his weakness. Too bad with MMR on that was every survivor, every game. Im less concerned about how powerful it was and more worried about how mind numbingly boring it was to play against. Thats a killer I probably wont be touching once MMR is on.

  • Lmao posts like this are such obvious lies or disinfo its hilarious

If your friend only plays survivor, picked up killer for once and got the 4k he was obviously against rank 20 survivors. Any killer can get the 4k at rank 20. When i first started this game i got 4k with 110% speed killer without using my ability.

Spirit is not that braindead and easy to play. Source: the thousands of baby spirits I’ve ran for 5 gens. Spirit does not dominate that hard at the lower ranks, newer players actually have an easier time with Trapper because he’s faster.

Rank 1 is the same. When you watch good players go at it, or watch a tournament, or a 1 vs 1 with very good players, survivors actually last quite a while. There wouldnt be spirit 1 vs 1s if she won every chase in 5 seconds.

This is reflected in her killrates. They aren’t out of the ordinary and she has never had the highest killrate indicating that her performance is roughly in line with all other killers.

The idea that anyone can pick her up and win regardless of skill is hyperbole and slander. Stop drinking the r/deadbydaylight koolaid.

  • Because the gens go lightning fast so people are resorting to playing hard as fast as possible because you have no idea what kind of team you’re up against

‹ 1 2 3 … 16
