In my opinion, that's completely backwards- the problem with Dead Hard is that it has two strong effects; dodging a hit, and making distance to a loop. Having both is far too strong, so one should be removed (or, y'know, toned way the heck down). The question is, which one?
Well, DH to dodge a hit is counterable. Sure, if they use it after failing a mindgame it's rough, but if they're trying to react to your swing it's possible to bait it out and exercise patience- especially if you're playing, say, Wraith, who has a power-fake that can force the DH out.
How does one counter DH for distance? You don't. There's nothing you can do about it.
I'd rather it have the fair, strong but counterable effect, personally.
How do you counter other exhaustion perks?
Except head-on, that is clear if you know about it, but SB, Lithe, Balance landing, Overcome etc. they are just perks to gain time.
If you would want to remove distance and keep i-frames, then you would have to buff a duration quite a lot and it would be just super annoying, you would also not be able to tell if he activated it or not...

So the part of DH that everyone hates most is the main effect?
I hate validation more...
This way DH wouldn't save you if you get mind gamed etc.

I think they probably haven't updated some of the ratings since the characters originally came out.
Just for reference here are all the official difficulties
Billy is easy? lol...
There are killers where I would be like hard to tell. For example Huntress, skill needed to decently play her is not that high, but her maximum skill ceiling is nowhere to be seen.

Nah, they can keep iframes and distance and exhaustion level. The issue is hit validation. As evidenced by the sudden surge of tears about Dead Hard after they added it. And those cowards won't add hit validation to vaults because they know how cringe it is.
Let's hope that fix on PTB will help a little with it...

Hatch doesn't lower your mmr and it doesn't raise the survivor mmr
I usually let 2 survivors just finish gens.
and even just hatch, it doesn't lower, but you gain less.

Probably because its usage was extremely high compared to his other add ons. And lets be real, chasing one Survivor and only hitting them twice to get T2 was a little dumb. Besides, instead of injuring the Survivor you just contaminated you have to down them. The difference this makes and the amount of times that this nerf will actually matter is probably close to none. But hey the buffs to his Iri's are pretty nice.
Oh also Twins add on nerf dumb
That's usually happens when other addons suck...
It's used too much is kinda dangerous argument. It would be quite funny to use same argument on perks...

I wasnt talking about the facecamping bubbas. I'm talking about killers in general.
Yeah and who is most famous for it? Bubba...
But fact is that if you would lower MMR for camping, or slugging. New players and noobs in general would be so screwed.
You think killers would care? No. It would work for them, they would get 4k each game, kill rate data would mean nothing because of that too.

So a reward for you as killer is going against weaker players to have easier wins?
Yes, that would be reward and I don't think that would be good thing at all.
It would make new player experience terrible, because you would have all those Bubba trolls stuck there with them with no way to get out of elo hell.

The only people who would be affected by SBMM counting hooks more than kills would be facecampers. I dont see how making it worse for facecampers is an issue.
And I think it's pretty valid me not wanting megs with 10 hours randomly in my lobby when I'm at more than 5k hours.
Because it wouldn't be worse. It would be better for them.
Higher MMR is not a reward for a killer. You don't see it, you don't gain anything by it.
Only thing that would happen is that camping would work for them even better.
Btw if he camped you, then your MMR would go lower and his MMR would go lower, so you would be more likely to play against him again. So current system is actually better for you, because you are less likely to play together in next games.
-
@Marigoria said:

I literally mentioned multiple times ways to improve SBMM, like not making it about escaping/kills, making it about what you've done during the whole match, not the outcome.
You havent added any solutions either, so how are you being constructive? And no, using your "feelings" isn't being constructive.
I agreed with you that survivor's MMR could be improved.
But then you decided to talk about killer's MMR, which I still consider best we can get. There are you feelings involved btw.
Hooks vs Kills. Kills are just better to use here, because it's same for everyone and it lets you play however you want. It would be quite bad way to design MMR based on hooks for multiple reasons, which you are just not able to understand. This has nothing to do with skill needed for it, MMR is just supposed to help with more balanced matchmaking and lower MMR for campers would be super dumb. It's like I would want to lower MMR for any survivor that just holds W most of the game. It doesn't matter how hard it is, result is what matters.
And that was something that I brought up anyway, your post is about SWF playing with lower MMR players and that you don't want to play with them.

If you see from my post aswell, you'd notice I am not SWF. So, why do you care about the SWF experience, on a post from a solo survivor? I'm talking about solo survivors experience.
Can you quote me where i am "crying" or are you just having a bad day and things seem more frustrating to you than they really are?
That's just what I feel from your post and comments.
No arguments, no ideas how to fix it, you just complain, which I consider crying -> just nothing constructive...

Your post started about SWF, no ######### I am going to talk about them.
Your only argument was crying that you don't like to play against it (camping), or crying that you don't like SWF playing with new players.

I remember playing survivor for the first few times after maining killer for a year and half or so. I was downed in seconds, seriously I was a joke.
If I would have posted then, I would have said how under powered survivor seemed as well as unfun.
While accurate to my own experience at the time, not completely true.

I applaud you trying both sides of the game, but perhaps wait until you get some experience before posting about how hard it is.
Both sides require experience. The more experience you have the better the odds of winning .
It doesn't have it be based just on how game ended, but it's interesting to see how most survivors react when you are losing. Which is more likely main reason why his first experience was so bad.

Your first question makes no sense. It doesn't matter if you have perks or not! Their ego is too big! If they see someone better than him they will just camp and tunnel which is very lame.
Edit: when you chase a perk less survivor too much you are a loser. This is just embarrassing.
It's cute that the only reason you could think of is that they are angry, because you are "better" than them...

Both of them are kinda SWF only thing unlike CoH.

Not everyone plays SWF, and "2 escapes most of the time" isn't a win if you're the one who died on the hook. And I dont see how pressing m1 all game when the killer is afk in front of the hook, either, but I guess that's your preferable "masturbating" method.
I have never said I am doing it, but it's funny to see how you react when you run out of arguments...

30ms is still a delay, even 1ms can have validation if it hits within that window frame.
validation doesn’t affect low ping killers
So you want to tell me that you are playing with 0 ping?
Also it's not just based on my ping now, survivor's ping matters too.

also, billy gets robbed of chainsaw hits a lot aswell.
im also aware of what it’s like when you loop a huntress, get behind a wall and still get hit with a hatchet. validation doesn’t affect low ping killers, you would have nothing to worry about if your ping is fine.
Lol, then you don't know how validation work. My ping is under 30 ms. Since when that is high ping?

They did do that- or, they did the more effective thing, which was to give him a cooldown after lowering the gun before he can raise it or swing for an M1. That was by far the smartest thing they did in that batch of changes to him, alongside removing the ability to quickscope. The problem is now that his aim speed is too low- not the speed to raise, though that could be looked at, but rather his camera speed while he's scoped is pretty abysmal, I'd look at changing that.
I'm not sure how fake-ADS could still be done, outside of the far more tame faking once or twice to bait DH or something. He literally can't do the fake-ADS strat anymore because of the removal of the quickscope and the fact that there's a cooldown before he can swing- we're not talking literally about faking the animation, we're talking about the strat where he'd fake the ADS repeatedly while advancing on a survivor because they either made the quickscope he could do very easy to land by running straight, or they'd zigzag and lose a lot of distance, at which point he'd just keep faking until they either ran straight or he was close enough to swing.
He can't do that anymore, it can't possibly be used more now.
It is used way more.
And they made it possible by buffing his ADS movement speed, so you don't actually lose that much distance.
And because ADS is so slow, survivors also try to dodge more, because it's easy to react. So you always fake few times to see how survivor is going to react and if he keeps dodging, you just keep doing it while survivor is losing distance, if he doesn't dance for you then you just shoot him.
Another reason why you do it is that your time to down is way better if you start with M1. It's really slow if you start with shooting, because you have to reload.
and I agree that camera / turning speed is just terrible. Whole ADS mechanic is weird to use. They should just install CoD and copy ADS.
Not best example, but works:

If you give it on first, survivor mains would cry too much.

You're almost there- quickscope is what made fake-ADS possible. At least now you actually have time to properly dodge once he commits, instead of being forced to choose between making the shot super easy or losing distance by dodging early.
Both fake-ADS and quickscoping were part and parcel of the same issue, it's them in combination that was the problem. Both needed to go, there's really no way around that.
As for your other points, why do people think I'm going to argue that Slinger is in a bad spot right now? I agree. He's not really got a niche right now because the niche of simply liking the reel mechanic is going to be hampered by the fact that he's pretty clunky. That doesn't change anything, it's just... repeating that there's a problem? Which we all agree on? Seriously, I'm not being sarcastic or trying to be an ass here, I'd love to know what I'm missing here, because from my perspective it really seems like the argument is "the only people who liked playing him were the ones who used the obnoxious and cheap lose/lose tactic so we should just give it back to them", and that's a very very underwhelming argument.
Once again: Forward, not back.
You don't have to remove quick-scope to fix that, you just make second animation slower (Deactivate).
That would actually be more fun, because Deathslingers would be forced to commit on their shots more, so it would be worth to predict it and dodge, but this made exactly opposite.
Fake ADS didn't really go, it's used way more now along with hold ADS and reason for that is mainly removed quick-scope. Even Otz is spamming it now.
It's just too risky and you get punished a lot if you miss, even potato can react to it, so why would you commit?
Yeah, sorry that was just my automatic response to explain why Deathslinger sucks now. Some people still don't get it... You are clearly not one of them, so I will try to filter it next time.
-
@Crowman said:
Also let's not forget that Deathslinger gives survivors a chance to prevent a down from a successful hit with the chain mechanic. The whole "quickscoping is unhealthy" only matters if you look solely at a single part of Deathslinger's kit and completely ignore everything else about his kit.
Limited range, Small projectile (only negative without quick-scope), can't down over most pallets, possible to deny down (objects / survivors), can't handle multiple survivors, punished way more on missed shots, slow time to down unless first hit is M1.
and we also have clunky ADS mechanic and 32m TR now (easy hold W).
-
@jesterkind said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2752598#Comment_2752598
Oh, well, I'm glad that you gave an advance counter, but let me still make the (correct) observation anyway: Hurr durr, this is not a shooter game.
The reason quickscoping works in shooters is that it's symmetrical and you can quickscope back to kill the other guy. DBD doesn't work like that. Quickscoping in this game is a cheap, uninteractive, boring mechanic that forces survivors into a lose/lose scenario. "Other" shooters (by which you mean, shooters, as this isn't one) are literally irrelevant, and I do not use the word "literally" cheaply or incorrectly here.
Bypassing completely unnecessary personal attacks on the dev team, let's take a look at your actual points. The thing is, I actually agree with them- Slinger is too clunky and slow to play as, and that's something they should be looking to fix! Nobody in this thread, myself included, is arguing that Slinger's current state is fine, what's being argued - correctly - is that reverting the changes they made specifically is a bad response. They made the changes for a reason, they should be moving forward and not back. Period.
How exactly is quick-scope considered lose/lose scenario?
This was used often for PH, there it makes sense, you either vault or don't and get hit in both.
How was that exactly changed for DS? You still can do this. So this argument really doesn't work here.
And I have no idea how can quick-scope be considered more unhealthy than fake / hold ADS. That is actually lose / lose situation, you run straight? I'll shoot. You try to dodge? I'll wait while you lose distance.
If you were good at predicting and made DS miss his quick-scope, then DS is punished a lot for any missed shots. Removing quick-scope only forced players to commit less on their shots and use fake / hold ADS way more, which I consider super boring.
Quick-scope was never an issue, fake ADS was and that wasn't fixed really, you still can do that. Quick-scope was what made him fun and you may say DBD is not FPS game, but FPS players were mainly those who played Deathslinger. What group is supposed to play him now?
He is just worse at everything other than STBFL, which still doesn't make him better even with 8 stacks and mending, which is not good tactic because of CoH atm.
He is way more limited than other ranged killer, so why was it so bad that he had something they don't...
-
Problem is that pinhead is soloQ stomper, because of his Chain Hunt wastes way more time than against SWF.
I wouldn't really mind buff to Possessed Chain and some nerf to Chain Hunt just so he feels better to play with. If you are unlucky on RNG and don't manage to keep Chain Hunt active, you are screwed.

As Leatherface, anyway, as if they are near a pallet, you know, they usually dead hard into the drop, buying them another few seconds at best.
I did lie though, I know how annoying it is to deal with as other killers. But you know, I have to stay in character as a toxic Bubba one trick pony or I might lose street cred.

You can 100% P3 a killer day one, you can also get almost every perk on a killer day one because you don't have to P3 them to max them, additionally survivor is even more so irrelevant because all survivors are the same, so you only need level 40.
If they're worried about players P3ing then it can be done hands down, day one, if they're worried about players Maxing all perks, it can be done almost day one, on top of the incoming monthly 2m bloodpoints it will absolutely 100% be possible to max characters on their release from this day forth as you can stack monthly reset rewards past the 1m bp.
Yeah, I am known for it...

People almost have this anyway, those who take the time to save challenges on the tomes and redeem on the-day of release get them to P3 in 30 minutes and then just have to grind a little to max, survivors don't matter in the slightest as you can level 40 them and unlock the perks on someone else and same thing.
You can't do this each chapter, not enough challenges. You need 6 875 000 BP on a killer and 7 700 000 BP on a survivor..

You know what I mean. They'll get all the stuff they want. It's not like they make more money from it. The most likely reason atm for it is just because they're to lazy to change a couple numbers. Right now. It's a F2P type of BS. And currency limits are also dumb in even F2P games.
I wouldn't mind cap removed and this is just only reason I can think of why there would be a cap.
It wasn't there since start, was it? Maybe someone old school knows better.
Another reason is that they force players to play more each new chapter, so you basically gain more data on new killer and new perks faster, because lot of players are trying to grind it asap.
-

"you would have players with maxed killers / survivors same day it was released"
If this is why the cap remains, then this is bad reasoning on BHVR's part. I'll play a couple games with a new killer just to see what they're like, and then I'll play other killers who actually have perks to earn BP and unlock stuff on the new killer. After Artist came out, I spent the last couple months not playing her at all while I earned BP to unlock her perks. (Yes, I had a lot banked in the Tomes and what not, probably a million or two BP, but when RNG is a ######### then I'm still left without the perks I want.) Now that I've unlocked the perks I want on her, I don't feel like playing her anymore.
So... yeah. I've noticed I often don't see new killers as much as I used to. A new killer will drop and I'd never know it from my survivor matches, I hardly see the new killer at all.
But you have to play and you will play against new perks, or with new perks, so more testing for them.

That still happens anyways. Just not in terms of prestiging but for those who don't prestige at all they basically get them max right away anyways.
If you have all perks to get everything without prestige costs around 6 875 000 BP on a killer and 7 700 000 BP on a survivor.
So good luck with that. You need a lot of challenges saved for this and it's not possible to do it each chapter -> not enough challenges.

Earning and spending 6 million BP or hoarding up to 6 million BP have the same amount of playtime.
If you're that dedicated to maxing out characters, you're already in and probably don't need subtle manipulations to make you play more.
That's not really how this works...
This would work only if you were not spending for anything else.
Cap is forcing you to play for longer duration whenever new chapter is released.
