It might be good idea to wait for mid-chapter so you have better perks.

well yeah there is no reason to even play him UNLESS you enjoy playing him. there is no point when she does the same thing way better and I mean, I see him in comp tournaments but all slingers do is camp at 5 gens and it works 😂
They played him there, mainly because they kinda had to play him and there is many perks / items banned.
He is not that bad killer. It's kinda same as Twins, he just got worse, less fun and more clunky. Tournament players don't care about fun.

It's not fun because it's not reward for high skills play anymore, it's more like a guess game, even if you aim directly perfectly prediction at them survivor can easily dodge.
This is also happen to huntress but she also got another 7 chance with her adds on and map pressure. deathslinger is confirmed that you will add another 30 seconds of chase if you miss 10m shot, you also didn't miss because of your skills, you aim perfectly prediction but survivor win guessing game.
Huntress has also bigger hitbox and can actually flick, which he can't because of slower turn rate during ADS.

The ability to correct a mistimed flashlight save with a short click would be impacted, making flashlight saves even harder than they already are. Don't get me wrong, the person you responded to is repulsive, but let's not act like a flashlight click delay is even a remotely good idea from a gameplay perspective, in a game where responsive controls are a must. The only solution I can think of that would actually protect epileptic players without disrupting gameplay is a setting that makes flashlight beams anywhere from 0%-75% more transparent, on a slider. And that would be a client-sided setting that hackers wouldn't be quite so able to find a way around, unlike a delay on when you can reclick your flashlight.
You could make it as an increasing delay. You basically need to stop it once to correct it and I agree it should stay, because it's quite hard to do and impressive imo.
So if you stop it once nothing will happen, but if you will stop it more times per some interval let's say 5 seconds, it will increase delay and it will not get lower during that match.

I am not reading that... Try to use more spacing next time.

Well firstly I really disliked these changes and he felt 100% worse to play and I thought I will not play him anymore.
However after some weeks then I played many games with him and somehow I still find him fun to play.
However I still think they should buff him or revert some of these nerfs. The biggest deal breaker was the instant scope removal (+ huge terror radius).
If they didn't remove quick-scope, I would probably still play him. I wouldn't really care he got worse otherwise as a killer, but he would be still fun to play for me... Right now, he is not. I just enjoy Trickster / Huntress more and think they are both better than him now. I think Trickster is better, that's just bad...
-
@ThiccBudhha said:
He was designed to be fluid and emulate first person shooters and he is so responsive, I feel like I am playing Call of Duty! As a fan of firing guns in murica, Deathslinger is the most fun killer ever.
That may be true before nerfs...
But his ADS mechanic is just really bad to use imo.
-
I think almost everyone... except few masochists and players who never played him.
I actually think his skill ceiling got lower with nerfs. Quick-scope removed, also removed viability of long range shots and shots through gaps. Right now you just hold ADS, because trying to go for long range is too risky and anyone can react to it.
ADS mechanic is just terrible, low turn rate with small FOV. It wasn't issue before, because you just didn't use it with quick-scope.
-
That's the neat part, you don't.

I grinded my Ghostface and my Hillbilly into the ground. Back with Ranks I was aiming to become a Rank 1 Ghostface after SBMM I let survivors go on purpose, hooked them all 2 times for BP and then played just bad enough for them to escape as 4, I also did not give hatch but let the last survivor escape through the gate ever since...
My Cenobite never saw the glory of "playing to win" ever and as such he stayed on the "fun level". Still works good for me.
I do not know about this. They made some good changes like the latest Spirit change that was very well received. Also they buffed Trapper in a good way and made him more fun to play. Sure Trapper still does not compete very well (why can his traps be disarmed with bare hands while you need a Flashy for Hag?!) but he is still much more enjoyable and has some sweet add-ons now. The "escape and you are in dying state"-add-on is very mean...in a good way.
The devs are very unpredictable here...
Nurse bug fixes where also asked for like...forever and nobody talked about them. And suddenly here they are...
Its so random...the next patch could be a god patch that makes everything better for like 5 or more killers while also buffing soloQ and fixing maps or it could be another nerf to Twins and Clown with a buggy weak new Killer...
There are some good changes for sure, Trapper, Plague, Nurse fixed, Artist is good new killer, Trickster got buffed.
But then you have Twins, Deathslinger, Freddy, Wraith, some weird addon changes in this mid-chapter.
Some are good, some are bad, but truth for both is that it's just small number with long waiting. Trapper/Plague mid-chapter was just an exception.
I may get back to dbd with their Legion and Ghostface changes, but if they screw that, then I am probably done for good.

@Gwinty said:
In my opinion people play the game for their Killer. They do not play the strongest Killer to win or the best Killer to get 4ks with, they play because they see a character and like them. This is of course a very personal thing, which makes it difficult.
When I look what Killers I play this fits very well. Sure I tried to play Nurse and get good with her, because I wanted to see just how broken she can be. But even as my kills got more and I got better with her and could feel that aura of OP she hes I did not get the feeling.
I quickly returned to playing Ghostface even thou he is tons weaker than her.
Later Cenobite came out and I got him as a gift. He quickly rose next to Ghostface far quicker than Nurse. And a while later I found Hillbilly and then Oni with Oni probably being the strongest Killer I play right now.
If DbD wants to keep their players invested they have to appeal to them on a personal level and bring them joy with their Killer. This is mostly done by giving them a clear strong point to which they can play as well as a smooth kit and personality. The Killer does not have to be super strong but it has to be unique and feel good.
I think the same appeals to survivors. The majority of survivors do not want to run "meta-perks", they want fun perks to use and outplay the Killer. Prove Thyself? Bad perk for this. Deliverance? Hell yeah!
This is why exhaustion perks are so good: They give the player a good feeling when they can make a play with them.
Now looking at this I think I would advice BHVR to focus more on the "fun" aspect and the smoothness of the game. I will play a wonky, unbalanced but fun game. I will however quit a balanced and unfun game in a matter of days or hours.
For survivors this means buffs to the less used perks and more mechanics where they can get a reward beyond a numerical value (Boons are good for this...as much as people hate them), for Killers this means more focus on their power and less on perks, more fun add-ons that alter their power (gives a fresh feeling) and for both some more numerical changes. No need to stay stale on values...
It wasn't that big issue before, but it was kinda ruined by SBMM. It's harder to enjoy playing weaker killers and there is just a threshold where you will get destroyed quite often.
So to enjoy weaker killer, you basically have to lose on purpose, so you don't get there. I was doing it with Pig and Legion and it helped for few months.
And let's be honest, with their speed of changes -> not many per 3 months, this will just not get fixed. Last mid-chapter gave us quite a lot of hope and it was destroyed this mid-chapter, for me at least. Nurse mains are probably happy tho.

The huntress main knows every hole you can hit through h and lands shits from miles away and the pyramid head main seems to have a third. Eye when it comes to hitting through walls and I just thought if I would do this with legion or ghosti I would have a hard time cause sometimes it feels like hitting a wall with certain killers
Yeah, you can see that on Legion a lot. It's just annoying when you get against a team where you will never get any chain hits.

Yes: Customizable basement. Let me make that place personal and show people my collection of random stuff that I aquired by playing the game.
As a cookie for free player: Charms that come with your rank at the end of each month, changing every 2-3 month or so never to come back.
I would also play for new Moris. Make Moris base, give them a stupid condition and let me buy a costume Mori for my character and I will do it. Even if Ghostface and Pinhead already are in S and A tier Mori-wise.
I also like the Artists very much. Good counterplay, hard to play and master Killer yet fun mechanic that makes such a difference if one knows they tricks. Also the chase music and the design are a kicker, her pallet kick animation...overall a good Killer. Yet nobody plays her and I wonder why. I see more Legion than Artist...
I personally only bought Jonah. Cool looking dude, funny perks (Boon: Exponential made it to my heart quickly and Corrective Action is so good with one of my friends who can not hit skillchecks for her live...). Also good design and a good scream.
I think a new character at least per 1/2 year is pretty good for the game. However they need to find something to keep things fresh and spicy during the waiting time...
I hope that condition will not be something to use on last survivor only. RIP free hatches :D

Its amazing in combo with pop, I use it since it came out and it carried me through the games way too often already.
It's not that good, because you usually can't get Eruption active along with Pop, because it's often on cool-down at that moment, but it will let you know where to go kick a gen, so it kinda works like pain resonance.
I have played it on Legion and Wraith mainly. Usually something like Eruption, Surge and Pop, but Eruption got kinda overshadowed by pain resonance lately.
-
@BenZ0 said:

Hey, I can be whatever I want in my basement. So I will be both. Grill your butt and make a drink from your blood for other survivors.

I kinda like Eruption too.
What "new" perks are good: Starstruck, No Way Out, Lethal Pursuer, Eruption, Deadlock, Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance.
Hex: Plaything+Hex: Pentimento is decent combo.
Hysteria might be decent, but CoH just ruins hit&run playstyle. It's sad that it doesn't work on Legion... It would also be decent on Deathslinger if he wasn't nerfed that much.

Oh, so many roleplay options. I want to be The bartender Bubba!
-
SBMM, Grades, CoH, Validation, Nerfs to my main (RIP Deathslinger), undeserved nerfs overall and bad decisions, overall approach.
SBMM made this game more stressful.
Grades made this game feel like a work to me.
CoH basically removed my favorite playstyle -> Hit&run.
Validation made it super frustrating to lose.
Approach of ignoring players that knows more than them. I felt so bad for Otz on his mid-chapter stream.
It's just not fun for me anymore. I am sometimes forced to SWF, but that's it...
-
I always try to go for Boop The Snoot.
I always respect Boop The Snoot and let those survivors leave.
Some people just want to have fun too, it's boring to play this game normally all the time.

There is so many things they could create and make money on.
-Let me buy a new mori effects, that would be big one, they said they want to make it somehow base mechanic in future, so it would make a lot of sense.
-Charms
-Gen / Hook / Locker skins
-Loading screens
-I want skins for Victor.
-new emotes for survivors (you really don't need some fortnite dances to ruin this, but some emotes would work like "hello", thumbs up / down etc.)
-Higher tier skins that might change during game based on number of gens / hooks. That would be cool.
Hmm, any other ideas?

I’m not sure why they bother still showing opponents’ grades at this point. They’re basically meaningless, especially after a reset. One of the devs asked the forums a month or two ago if people though the opponents’ grades should be removed and I think it was pretty much a unanimous reply that they should. I assume he put it on his to-do list of things to look into with the team but who knows if he’s actively working on it or if the idea got nixed for some reason?
Hey, grades are 100% useless info and it just confuses new players who don't know how MMR works. I wouldn't really care if it was account info only thing too, it's basically Player level 2.0, but it's just per month instead... One is for Shards and one is for BP, it would kinda make sense for both be private info.
The fact that you can see it in lobby is just a relic of the past.

Polls without serious options are nonsense. And if it does not include a "No"-option, it is a poll without serious options.
You can have it, but most people would just not care about it at this moment.
There was room to argue when it was released, but noone is going to waste time trying to change someone's mind now. If you didn't get it at this point, it doesn't matter.

Welcome to online pvp where your feelings don't matter.
This isn't just dbd. This is every online pvp. And like Mandy said smack talk is allowed to an extent. You make something like that bannable just for saying "gg ez" then all of a sudden everyone is banned.
If you can't handle the smallest amount of toxicity then go back to single player games.
smallest amount of toxicity
If you think dbd has only smallest amount of toxicity, then you play only KYF.
Noone cares about "gg ez" and that is actually really rare to see in dbd, almost noone says that. Probably because it's too short for them, not enough impact.

Yes, that's what I mean. You could shed a full rank in 5 games, and once you hit your desired rank it was easy to remain there. I'm not going to name names, but if you just google 'fog whisperer smurfing' you'll find a ton of threads on it.
Now, it's a lot more time consuming if you want to do that.
I think process is easier for survivors, you can play normally and just make to sure to die to egc, or killer, or escape by hatch.
Noone knows how many games you need to actually get that low tho... So it might take longer.
Thing is now, you can play and do whatever you want during that game, it was kinda hard to get your rank under 9 unless you killed yourself super early, or were afk.
-
@StarLost said:

I'm not sure.
Smurfing under ranks was way, way easier. It was so simple to do (you could shed ranks in about 5 games if you did it right) that even fog whisperers admitted to doing it.
That doesn't mean it's not still a problem though.

The game is balanced around low skilled solo survivors. When instead it should be balanced around skilled players. We had tournaments in the past. Why not make more and see how the top players perform, when they can win something. Then adjust the balance accordingly.
It also needs several game modes.
- One for new players, where they face other new players and learn how the game works, instead of being thrown into a sharktank.
- And a hardcore mode for veterans. Where everything (hud, perks, terror radius, scratch marks, SWF, etc) is turned off.
New players is just something that should be base for normal matchmaking. Naraka has it like that, I was so sad when I found out those were all bots and I suck at that game...
Hardcore mode sounds really fun, I want to try that.

Considering the changes in the past, whilst I do want Legion (and Ghostface) changes, I have little faith that they will be good.
I hope i'm wrong.
Well, yeah. If they will screw it, then I will probably give up completely.
Just their overall approach is really anoying for me.
Waiting for months only to get few number changes, which are often bad.
PTB where testing is usually worthless, because even if everyone is saying it's bad, they will do it anyway.
Ignoring players who know more than them about this game. I really felt bad for Otz on his stream after mid-season was revealed....
-
I am currently on like 3 months break. Just many reasons combined SBMM, Grade resets, CoH, validation, my main killer nerfed to ######### and probably some other things I have rather forgot.
Some of those things just took away fun I used to have and grades actually made it more like a work for me.
I enjoyed roleplayers, just doing fun things. For some reason it got quite rare, I had to actually force players to Boop The Snoot, that's how bad it was.
This mid-chapter did nothing really worth coming back for me. I will maybe try some games with Legion changes.

Sad to see a respected member of the forums like yourself fall like this, but I don't understand why and how do you view this game like its some sort of job? Unless you're like a streamer and I'm not aware of it there is nothing really to lose if you stop playing, or hell even taking a break
I myself have been playing for 4 and a half years, I've had my ups and downs with this game and every time I saw it go downwards I would take Mathieu's advice the way it was meant, play something else.
If you're not having fun with something, don't do it. Thats what games are for, to have fun. Thats what pretty much every one on this forum does, they play DbD for fun. Most of them wont admit it for some odd reason, but there is a reason that they come back again and again.
So, want to hear my advice? Literally uninstall the game and don't come back to it for a time that you think is best for you, it can be a week, 2 weeks, a month or even multiple months. The game will most likely still be here to welcome you back with open arms and hopefully you'll be back with a fresh and clear mind.
there is nothing really to lose if you stop playing, or hell even taking a break
Time.
When you spend thousands of hours on something, you just try everything to make it work, and when you give it up, it can be pretty depressing.

And in my eyes it would be useless. Without been given any form of high or low limit or other information for comparison, seeing the MMR number by itself is meaningless.
Not really.
Your killers have different MMRs, your survivor have different MMR. You could compare and setup goals where you want to get. We just have different approach.
I don't care about what opponents I got, if that game was really weird I could just ask them, but system is just doing it's best.

But what good would be seeing only your personal MMR value without comparison to your opponents, at least in respect to this threads topic.
Just your own MMR wouldn't have any information value to this in regard if you played bad/good or your opponents being of higher/lower MMR.
Main reason why I would want it this way is because there is higher chance it might happen. They are not going to show it instead of grades.

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever a flashlight needs to be clicked that fast. Damn sure not 12 times/second with a macro.
I would keep an option to do it like once or twice fast. It's needed when you have started to blind too early for save and is quite high skill to delay it. But you really don't need to do it 20 times per second...
What's most annoying it just takes so little charges, so you can do it for really long time. Well, I just let them bleed out for it...

That would actually be really good change for this idea.
It would be easier to implement and make some use of loading screen.
No need to track everyone's perks during lobby. They would need to do it only once before game starts and show it during loading.
No reason to dodge the lobby and you would know what to expect from your teammates.
-
No, streamers would be so screwed. Most killers just have a lot of counterplay in perks / items. It would be kinda broken each time you could see what perks and killer you are against.

That's why it would be personal (private) info. You still wouldn't know that often. You can ask them in end game chat, but that doesn't mean they will tell you real MMR, or they don't care.

For the killer part you are right sprint burst is probably better but if i start esitating between sprint burst and overcome i will just go dead hard because its the best perk in the entire game.
Yeah, Overcome will be used only by players that are sick of DH, but DH is just better.

I don't know if it was my being bad for my MMR or the matchmaking going haywire, because I can't see the MMR. Kind of the problem, that: did I just play particularly badly and underperform compared to normal, or did matchmaking pit me against a much better opposition so I was expected to lose?
And vice-versa when I win: did I do well, or was I playing easy mode? I don't know. I'd quite like to.
I would like to see MMR values. They don't have to show it instead of grades, but maybe as personal info for each player?
It would be interesting to compare my killers and maybe try to get them over some threshold.
