I kind of wish the game had a stat site where you could look up average stats like scores and kill ratios by killer. Everybody assumes Spirit is top tier (including me) but we don’t actually have good data to back it up. 🤷‍♂️

As far as the complaints, some of it stems from Scott Jund for instance complaining about Spirit and Deathslinger being “boring” to play against. His opinion is that at loops you can’t actively do much against a Spirit with Stridor or Deathslinger, the ball is in their court to miss an attack. Of course you can do things to increase the chances they will miss (e.g. use terrain to give yourself some cover from Deathslinger, move unpredictably and use noisy objects to muffle your own sounds in chases when you think Spirit is phasing) but in his opinion those things aren’t “interesting to do” and are “robotic”. (Personally I think he’s offbase on that, to me “robotic” is using quick reflexes to dodge an attack because you see the animation. The counterplays of strategically deciding where to go and how to move during a chase are more of a mindgame I think.)

As far as why I think she’s a top tier killer, it’s because she has a combination of fast map travel and a solid ability in a chase at a loop. There’s only a handful of killers that can get from place to place faster than walking that also have a really good ability that helps get downs efficiently and they’re all top tier because of it (Spirit, Nurse, Freddy, and to some extent Billy although his chainsaw isn’t quite as consistent as the other three killer’s abilities at loops so I put him at fourth here. Hag is a special case, she can cover a wide part of the map without chases and doesn’t care about loops really so she’s also really good, probably around number four or five.) That’s just my opinion though, like I said at the top I don’t have stats one way or another to back it up.

All your points are descent, but walking instead of running doesn't do anything. She still knows where EXACTLY you are.

No she doesn't. Have you never played Spirit before? Survivors disappear when she phases.

Im just a mediocore survivor, but without iron will against a spirit there is 0 counterplay. If im injured it doesnt matter if i run, hide, walk, crouch, without the killer messing up massively i cant do anything but guessing and praying.

I don't use Iron Will but I do use Spine Chill. I have juked plenty of Spirits while not being injured and while being injured. It's not hard, you're both guessing on what your next move will be. Pro Spirit Players usually know the move you'll make next so they go to that spot immediately to ambush you.

  • It's a guessing game for both sides. I don't really see why people are so mad at Spirit. Are they mad because Stridor provides massive synergy with her Power? Imagine if people had that same energy for other perks that had good synergy with Killer's Powers. Like STBL with Demo's Shred, Ruin/Suirvellance with Freddy's teleport, Thana with Plague, Sloppy with Oni.....

Like honestly, she's an average Killer that you guys hold to such a ridiculous tier because people play her more often than others.

  • You do realize that ranking up in this game is like breathing? You would have to literally try your hardest to not Rank up / Derank in this game

If they don't wake up and were also a certain distance away. They had a few different options to wake themselves up to, alarm clock, fail a skill check, have someone else wake you up, IIRC adrenaline, be hooked (Not exactly a good way tho) They never knew what direction he came from, but he also couldn't touch them in that state.

Alarms clocks didn't exist and I don't recall Teammates being able to wake you up. You had to either fail a skill check or a Teammate fail a skill check while they healed you.

  • @LintyScorpion said:

No. Never. His old power was becoming an m1 killer to survivors he's used his power on. That is completely garbage. He may have been overbuffed, but he doesn't deserve to revert to that. No killer should at that level of weak.

Except he always knew where they were at on the map and for those not awake, they never knew the direction he came from.

This perk has seen a massive boom in popularity. And because of this, it has shown how busted it is.

Put this perk on a player that knows pressure and you're in for a crap day. Since the time spent in that round isn't gonna be hunting for totems, it's gonna be spent getting rescues and doing gens. Then, all of a sudden, Devour is revealed and suddenty you're done for, since most likely the player will know that people are gonna be totem hunting now, because who risks a gen when a totem that allows you to be insta-eliminated is in play?

This perk is so so boring. It either needs to be deleted/reworked or outright nerfed. 36m grants a token or something like that. This perk is the worst thing to go against (since where are these players that "do bones"? - I never vs them nor get them as teammates.) I was once going through a phase of using Thrill Of The Hunt and not a single totem was done in almost 3/4 of my overall matches. It was a NOED bait to get people scared of the totems and doing them as priority, obviously, but no sod cleansed them. And why? Because in the majority of the matches, they were pressured so hard that they had to focus gens and rescues appropriately, no time for totem cleansing vs a killer that has you on the ropes. That is the most solid reason you'll get for why Devour Hope needs hard nerfing or reworking.

Who th considers TOH to be NOED bait? My guy, if it glows, it goes. If it's dull, it still goes. Just do bones. Hell, most of the maps have it in such obvious places that you have go out of your way to NOT find a totem.

  • @HierDoctormain said:

I main doctor in hag and that's some impressive work with most of them having spine chill although with the build that you have they weren't allowed to do many gens especially if you made them to your three most of the time

I don't main Doc. I was doing that mainly for the Challenge that requires Survivors to scream 45 times and The Game is the easiest to do it on. Plus I wanted to ham it up.

How were they playing toxic? If you don't mind me asking

It's been so long on what the perks were exactly. But they All had top tier tool boxes meant for sabotaging hooks. And all game they would focus on saboing hooks immediately if I downed someone. Of course if I slugged, they had perks such as Flip-Flop and I think Tenacity where they would immediately get their wiggle progression to half / 3-quarters of the way through just to escape my grasp with no hook in sight.

All 4 T-bagging the entire time, pointing, the typical bs. So come around end-game when I snowballed them with Demo, I just slugged them all and let them bleed out.

  • @RossSama said:

Lol, yeah, those damn sweaty SWFs! Even though they clearly suck at the game and their builds make no ######### sense. They have one decisive and no unbreakables, one dead hard, one borrowed time.

You clearly have never played against an actually strong team, huh?

"I'm gonna play double iridescent doctor with a game map offering and then post the screenshot on the DBD forums when I inevitably win!"

Not impressive, and shows A LOT about you as a gamer and what you consider to be "impressive".

Because only GOOD Survivors run DS, UB, DH, and BT huh? Any other perk? Well clearly they're just a trash Survivor because they didn't have those perks. Oh, they're a team? Well they must be trash for not having the exact same standard of what you consider to be a Meta build and losing to a Killer you deem to be bad.

  • Demo.JPG

As I've said before, Demo is honestly fine. These are my usual games. I get consistent 4k's and when I meet a pretty good team if not the most toxic SWF's group there is, 9/10 times I'm walking away with 2k. I don't use add-ons at all for Demo and I am by no means a Demo using expert. But I've been maining him heavily compared to other Killers I used to play in recent months. If you want to tweak his add-ons, by all means do so. But he's in a pretty good spot with more potential I've yet to unlock when it comes to proper portal placement.

I hardly ever use him. He just has all that junk because I got him all teachable perks and the add-ons came with it. Hours of grinding went into getting him there. Only used him specifically to get the scream challenge done.

  • @Dehitay said:

Why would they use so many oak offerings without either sabotage abilities or perks that can pick them off the ground?

You mean like flip-flop and another perk or 2? I've seen that build before on a prior SWF's team. Didn't like their toxic playstyle so I slugged them all and let them bleed out.

Guess these guys thought flashlights was all they need.

  • His power isn't immediate. Until he can activate his power, assuming he even can depending on the team, he's just an M1 Killer. Unlike most of Killers who can use their powers at will to aid them, Oni has to work for it. And when you do get your power, well hopefully you find a Survivor in time within your 60 second window who isn't a god at looping.

  • Play how YOU want to play. Don't listen to salty Survivors who get mad because you run X Killer, Y Perk, or Z Add-on/Offering. You'll be getting a lot of toxicity, and a lot of hate just for beating them or losing to them.

  • Can i at least get a TLDR if you got no paragraphs?

  • If bad players want to be bad, let em. Can't win that way unless the team is a bunch of potatoes.

  • @Botiz said:

Why do I get punished for being able to down and hook survivors really quickly? It makes zero sense and is extremely frustrating.

Here comes the arguments of just "leave them slugged!" - however, with all the things you have to remember when playing killer (pressuring gens, making sure no long chases, mindgaming loops), when i'm downing and hooking different survivors so quickly, it's easy to forget who you've downed/hooked. Not to mention the possibility of Unbreakable or Soul Guard being in play too.

And yes, I did just come from a game where this just happened, where I was playing Bubba and two of the survivors had both DS + Unbreakable. I can play games with Spirit, Freddy, Bubba, potentially Huntress and Demogorgon too and have it happen to me, where i'm hit with DS when I don't tunnel.

I get it, it's supposed to be an anti-momentum perk... but why? Why should I have my momentum slowed for playing well?

So bored is the word you use?

  • You run into 2 types of groups as Plague. People who choose not to cleanse and people who cleanse the second they get infected. And that majorly affects what your build is going to be for her. Since I'm at Rank 1, I expect people not to cleanse. So I run perks like Thana / DL / Blood Echo / optional 4th perk to either force Gen slow down or force them to cleanse to allow me to switch to corrupt purge.

Problem is I just played her yesterday. Before that, I haven't played her since they changed how her projectile is. So the arc through me for a loop for the first few throws.

  • No idea what you're talking about. I main him as Rank 1 on PC with no add-ons and I always get use out of his Shred every match.

  • Main thing to remember is that his trail is area control. That also means you can use it to negate loops almost instantly if a Survivor leads you to one. If the Survivor still chooses to use it, you got yourself a tormented.

  • "Tryhards"

WInning a game doesn't make you a Tryhard. It's the dumbest thing on the planet to say. No one goes into a game with the intentions to lose/forfeit unless you're dickin around with friends. I play on PC and as a Survivor, i hardly run into those Killers half the community talks about. And I'm a rank 1 on both sides.

Let's be honest here, most of the Console Players I played against just aren't that great in terms of skill level. It's not their fault either, it's PC vs Console, so what did you expect in terms of hardware specs and skill rating.

  • @ZephanUnbound said:

I personally don't use DS. Many killers at higher ranks are too scared to try picking you up if they know they hooked you recently anyway. Feels like a wasted perk slot for me personally, especially since I'm somewhat inconsistent at actually hitting the skill check.

No Killer is scared once they see that no one is the obsession. Typically the ones I meet, the minute they see there's no obsession, they have no problem picking you up immediately after your first hook to get you on your second/last.

  • @Zagrid said:

    And I can prove it.

Do you know how long it took to see changes for the most broken things in the game?

Freddy, Nurse, Hill Billy, Mettle of Man, DS, Legion, and hit boxes?

It took years for every one of the killers listed to have their problems fixed. Also, the changes regarding 2/3 of the characters were met with extreme backlash as the Game Design team did exactly what every player of those killers told them not to do, touch their base power. Whether or not the base power changes were needed, they went directly against player feed back.

How about Legion? We told them in the PTB that this power was going to drive people away from the game and it had no counterplay. The killer still went to live and it took months to finally get changes that removed the uncounterablility. And now we are left with a mostly garbage killer with few select times he could be good, but even still he is overshadowed by many other killers.

Hit boxes? Took years to finally get dedicated servers which was nice when we finally heard all of our dreams would be answered. But, as with most things and to very little people's surprise. Dedicated servers were a buggy mess upon release and almost everyone told BHVR to keep them turned off until they were what the community not only wanted, but deserved after so many years. To this day, dedicated servers are still buggy, still messy, and still being worked on while we deal with them. And now its to the point they can't be turned off since the game now relies on them so much.

The real salt to the wound, hit boxes are still buggy and fixes for them continue to be slow, and poorly executed. However, I can't hate on them too much as it actually feels like they are trying or at least making an effort to make hit boxes better. That can't be said about the next thing.

    Perks, oh perks.

I would have an easier time counting which perks were good rather than how many are completely useless. At this point im pretty sure even the game design team have a hard time remembering what perks are already in the game before making new ones that do the same thing as others, the only difference being a cooldown and different activation requirements.

I would list all the perks that are useless along with a bunch of community suggestions to making them even somewhat viable. But if you go onto this very forum and look for perk suggestion threads. They. are. everywhere. And yet, patch after patch, chapter after chapter, Cruel limits, Monstrous Shrine, Beast of prey, and countless other perks remain untouched after literal years of people saying they are useless.

So the next time you think the game design team at BHVR actually cares about player feedback. Just remember that Monstrous Shrine released when the game came out, and even after a post by this same team said they would get around to changing it. It has been 4 years since the game came out, and 2 years since that post.

Side note, the most recent PTB they released was a week old version of their build. How convenient that now they can brush aside any feedback they receive by saying "Don't worry, its a week old build".

So essentially... Game Design Team heard your complaints. Took a long time to work on it/find the best possible solution for it, and then proceeded to fix it. So... what's the issue? It seems you're mad more at the fact that they take too long and the final product still has flaws rather than them not caring. Because if they truly didn't care... then they wouldn't bother making the changes/fixes.

    So what did you prove?

We said the same thing about their so called Hex improvement they were talking about years ago but nothing came of that, hex's still spawn in stupid spots. That being said though I think we're long overdue for some perk adjustment because of the sheer amount of useless perks, the lack of variety and in some cases all out repeats of perks who only change 1 line of their rules creates a really stagnant environment.

For Hex improvement, what came of it was the new/reworked maps.

  • I mean... why not both? I never had to choose between those 2. I usually choose between Franklin's and Light Born. Light Born is my fave.

  • So basically from what I got skimming through this... DS isn't a Top 5 Survivor perk... not based on statistics or any factual supporting evidence.. But because YOU consider other perks to be better than DS? I thought you were going to whip out like a chart or something displaying the amount of Survivors you played with/against using DS with X number of matches you participated in to show that it's a hardly used perk.

No. DS is a highly used Meta perk. I myself don't use it, because I run other Metas like Bond / SC / IW / and an optional 4th perk like PTS or something. *Granted, ever since crossplay came out, I noticed console players don't use DS AS much. But I can't tell if it's because I'm playing with more low levels than usual as well since I'm Rank 1.

It's good that he did, because your old thinking just wasn't working out.

  • Grind is not that bad. When you play just to play, you're going to get 1 million BP in like a few hours, maybe less, maybe more. You can buy a LOT with 1M. Especially if your plan isn't to P3 T3 every single character.

  • Survivor is fun when you got friends. Least for me anyways. When Crossplay came out, I immediately started playing as Survivor with my Wife and her friends. It does get stale being a Killer, but that's because you only have 1 objective, which is to kill everyone. As a Survivor? You can do whatever tf you want. Wanna run a build to plunder all the chests on the map? Got 3 perks for that. Want to be a Detective and map out all objects on the map? Got items and perks for that too. Wanna play as the go-to healer? Got a whole set of perks for that.

  • Are people really just gonna ignore this screenshot?

Then he shouldn't put me to sleep if I wake up using the clock since one good blood pool placement and it's gg

One good trap placement from Hag/Trapper and it's gg. Imagine Freddy hardly ever being able to use his power because his victims don't fall asleep. That would make him strictly an M1 Killer in chases 90% of the time unless he catches a Survivor on the way to the clock.

  • I hardly use his Snares honestly. I mostly use his teleport along with the Ruin/Surveillance synergy which gives me map dominance and results in consistent 3-4ks. I never use add-ons either. He's in a good spot, people just don't know or refuse to play properly against him.

You at least read that i said that if a survival is in chase the timer count

and why would you slug someone that was hooking farmed just pick him and put him in the hook again

But.. why? It's not the dude's fault that he was hooked farm. And I'm not obligated to do anything. I can hook him again, slug him, or let him run away. So I do the middle ground that aids us both.

  • @Breque said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1581780#Comment_1581780

Why, everthing that camping and sluging do is to increase toxicity and its not even funny from the two sides

Because me slugging someone who got hook farmed instead of hooking them again immediately isn't toxic. Me staying around the area of a hooked Survivor because 1-3 others are in the area isn't toxic.

  • @Breque said:

Its kind of ez to resolve these two

For camping is just do an check every 5 seconds if the killer is at 15 meter from you the timer to the entety will not count

The timer will still count if an survival is in chase

Slug is the same as camping but instead of 15 meters put 8 or 10

Ez probleam resolved this will probably decrease the amount of people with DS and unbrakable

Dont say to that WoW CaMp Is An SrAtEgY because when you say that you just motivate that motivates the toxity of survival DS + UB and more DC

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/186942/compare-both-sides-best-perks

But jokes aside...... that's a bs comparison. First of all, idk any survivor perk that stays active for 120 seconds so you lost me there. I'm assuming you're talking about DS which only lasts 60.

Second, you seem to be operating under the premise that DS is the best survivor perk. It isn't. I can think of a list of survivor perks that I would/do run over DS.

    Borrowed Time

    We'll Make It

    Inner Strength

    For the People

    Saboteur

    Lithe

    Kindred

(DS fits around here for me. This is where I would run DS if I ever got tired of any of the perks listed above)

DS is totally dependent on the killer you're going against. People who have DS never get to use it against me when I play killer. Know why? Because after I hook someone, I go after the other 3 people in the game. The only time I'll hit someone who was just unhooked is if the survivors do it in my face, and that's just to either get rid of borrowed time and make them mend, or put them on the ground. But I'm not going to rehook them, I'm chasing someone else.

Pretty sure Hope stays active for 120 seconds

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 19
