Use them all Hex build at Rank 1 and I get consistent 3-4ks. Granted I use Ruin / Lullaby / Third Seal / Devour. It's fun to use the build and allow the Survivors to dictate the flow of the game. If they get mad at me for using the build (and they usually always do), I just blame them for how they refused to cleansed.

Hex perks in generally are quite weak and not worth running.
The only hex that's currently worth being a Hex imo is DH. It's actually high risk/high reward. Almost all the other hex's are high risk/low-average reward.
Most their effects aren't good enough on top of totem spawns still being god awful years later.
Yeah they'll seem effective at lower ranks where people don't know what they're doing, but so will anything at that stage.
No Hex perk is weak. If they were, they wouldn't be Hex perks. These perks are powerful enough that they have to be put as Hexes so it's up to the Survivor on whether or not it's worth cleansing them.

In rank 1 games at least one survivor has Prove Thyself. One less doesn't matter when you are a M1 killer since you can't end chases in safe pallets AT ALL.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1515633#Comment_1515633
Well, pallets are worse than snares tho.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1515640#Comment_1515640
Believe me, he is. I have lost games just because the map existed. If it wasn't there I would have won those games but I didn't because using a map doesn't require any skill whatsoever. You learned how to use a perk and thats good for you, you used skill to counter the killer but maps don't require skill.
This proves you're just baiting people with this post because you'd rather focus on Freddy's Pallets being "worse" than snares compared to everyone calling you out for being a bad Trapper. Gg, gl

Wait, what does Freddy have to do with this ? Anyway, I guess you want me to "form a strategy". So, what is that exactly ? Even if they don't see you place the traps they can just tap the map and see where your traps are. You become a M1 killer. Why are we still talking about this ? Isn't my point clear ?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1515508#Comment_1515508
Yeah, you can't. Thats why I switched killers but now I have to leave the lobby.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1515517#Comment_1515517
I don't think you know how Small Game works. It doesn't show the aura of the trap, it just tells you there is a trap. Besides, Small Game is a perk that counters Trapper with skill since it doesn't hold your hand and says "heres the trap" while maps do that and they can make playing Trapper an absolute nightmare.
If you say "thats stupid" and "don't play if you are so scared of survivors" you are missing the point. Maps require no skill to use while completely removing the Trapper's power.
Map counters Freddy Pallets. And again, it doesn't matter if you pressure them and cancel/minimize loops. It's not complicated.
-
Just going to highlight and quote what you said in your post. "There are a few things I've learned though from the discussions as well as the relatively short time playing the game (nearing the 100 hour mark)". "..The first four honestly I can't say one way or the other since I really don't have enough experience personally with the game..."
You're new, and you don't know much. You've seen to just compiled everything everyone else has said, twisted to your narrow (I say narrow because you've hardly put any hours into this game to formulate a concrete viewpoint with supporting evidence) viewpoint and simply made another post. If you've put more time into the game and less in the forums, you realize that half the issues the community has is based on bias.
-
So? Do you leave the game too as Freddy when they have a map? Or Hag when they have a flashlight? Form a strategy, employ proper perks or add-ons, and you'll be fine.
-
You have no negatives for Freddy but you still put him behind everyone else? You crazy.
-
Freddy is balanced all around which makes him top tier among the rest. It's why he's unliked so much and found to be boring.
-
They are useless but honestly, I don't even use his add-ons and I consistently get a 3-4k. The greys do make a difference but he's pretty capable on his own. Not saying his add-ons DON'T need a rework though.
-
I expected OOO to be the scummiest perk since it's usually toxic players who utilize it. But DH? Really? A perk that is anti-camping and to a degree, anti-tunneling? Idk who YOU'RE playing against who uses DH the way you describe (I use it often but I hardly meet high tier Killers who run it when I play Survivor on PC), but DH isn't commonly used like that. Also a perk that a Survivor controls by letting it stand or not? Jesus, talk about entitlement.

Weakness is time and skill check. Next.

Oh good greif has this not died yet
I'm so done with this thread and it's op. Please just leave me out of it by this point.
Didn't die because the post is only 2 days old. Not like this thread was posted months ago. Also means you can't be criticized for your comment. If you have criticisms against a specific perk based on it's ability, that's one thing. But calling all players who use it bad because they "rely" on it is just ridiculous.
I sometimes run an endgame build on my DeathSlinger that involves BW and NOED. Do I rely on the perk? Of course. But I setup my entire build for the endgame.

Again if you rely on the perk to get kills you're bad as killer.
If you rely on the perks to escape you're a bad survivor.
That's such a false narrative.
"If you rely on X Perk, you're a bad Killer/Survivor"
Guess we just shouldn't use perks since we rely on them to win huh?

So it seems experience has been mixed so far with the new MMR. I played two matches, the second one I pipped up to rank 16. Now I dont have to play the rest of the season if I choose not to, as my rest will be rank 17. Skill based MMR no longer considering play time reached: explain how a rank 17 guy with 2 hours play time past 2 weeks is skilled enough to face a rank 10 killer? Thats one more than the max of 6 I am supposed to face.
I can KINDA understand the low ranks coming in. Like having a player who just naturally picks up, winning all 10 games with ease and getting good points in their initial games. MMR analyzes it and sees them at a high skill level, and throws them at people who are on the "same" skill level.

Don't know if you really missed the point or just trolling, so I'll try to be more didactic.
In the "old" ranking system, I was facing mostly ranks 1 to 4, with some purples, so I was facing survivors equal to my killer rank and my skill level.
Now, in the new "MMR" system, I'm facing babies, game after game, it's not fair to THEM, and if it continues like this, it will, for sure, ruin the experience for new players.
As Almo said, they were "running" (or should, at least) the MMR calculations in the background but didn't bound matchmaking to it untill today, so I should be high MMR with my Oni, who I've been playing for at least 2 months in a row, these 2 months being in red ranks, but now I get matches mixed with rank 20, 14, 7 and 1, who're soloing, that's really bad for the ranks 20 and 14, who should be facing a low MMR killer.
You were facing players equal to your Rank. Not your skill level. I've played plenty of matches as Rank 1 against other Rank 1-3 Survivors and there have been times where their skill level was clearly well below or well above mine. Just because you face lower ranks due to the MMR does NOT mean their skill level automatically drops. Again as I've stated, there are people who legit deranked purposefully or took a break and had their ranks reset multiple times to have the rank they are at. It does not matter.

So you are telling me that when I, a rank 3 killer, get paired with rank 20 potatoes newbies survivors, it doesn't matter? 'k bye. The MMR system is already botched and full of crap. Even though I'm still playing Oni (I've been playing him on red ranks for about 2 months, so my "MMR" should be high) I now get paired with greys, yellows and greens, even with the f. up rank system before that kind of crap didn't happen (unless it was red ranks SWF with greys).
You went from rank 20's to Yellows and Greens so clearly it works. That means your skill level is where it's supposed to be.

Explain the logic “ mmr” players with similar skills .............. the entity isn’t just laughing right now
Actually, I can. You're going to sit here and tell me that players (especially Streamers) don't purposefully derank themselves to have easier games that they can win? Or that when people take breaks, ranks aren't reset on the 13th of every month? I'm a Rank 1 Killer but at one point, I got reset all the way down to 15/16 when I took a long break from the game. Imagine the disparity in skill there when I had to climb my way back up past the low levels where some of them are actually where they are supposed to be. But hey, what do I know? I only played the game for a thousand hours.

Dude. Let’s put it like this I brought dbd yday for my Nintendo switch I have played 5 completed games I am a rank 18. So I’m technically a new player. But being paired with rank 1 killers who clearly have hours in the game, explain the logic ................ “ it’s the mmr system ” I’m not geting the same “skill level” in 5 games then a rank 1 killer. Stop being ignorant to the issues here.
Ah yes, because players who totally suck at the game never got all the way to Red Ranks before because Killers either farmed, Hex: Ruin was changed, etc. No possible way, every Rank 1 Survivor/Killer should be the "best of the best" and didn't get their by luck or anything.

You asked to be able to change your killer in the lobby, to counter players looking in the files for what killer you're playing. I quoted the problem with that for you. As far as I know, from what I've read on other forum threads, those files are encrypted now (but I don't know for sure).
So, exactly what kind of fix are you requesting? You haven't been very specific.
I didn't ask for it to be changed back. Jesus dude READ THE POST. I referenced on how that tactic was countered prior to the roll out of MMR. You've provided nothing to help the discussion aside from FINALLY talking about the actual tactic and that it may be encrypted.

And you obviously didn't read the quote, or you simply don't care about the abuse that would follow by allowing killers to change in lobbies. You're literally asking for something that will be abused.
@LordRegal said:
Really what needs to happen is survivors need to be locked in on build/items before they queue. That prevents the exploit and realistically you shouldn't be swapping around much in the lobby anyway. Keeps them from using any of the exploits surrounding lobbies.
LordRegal get's it.
Only issue with that though is offerings. Sometimes I'll throw in a last minute offering if I believe the party is going to do well or if we want to try something.

You're missing the point. We're not complaining because our number is a whole lot lower than their number, we're complaining because a killer with 2 thousand hours in the game should never be against new survivors. Yes, rank doesn't matter, but that's because the new MMR system is supposed to be more accurate than rank. They mention that what they've seen of their MMR system is "promising", and yet I've seen dozens of posts from both the xbox test and since this went live of severely unbalanced games. We're not complaining about the rank disparity, we know that's been ######### for a while. We're complaining about the new system being seemingly worse in the skill discrepancy, the very thing the new MMR system was supposed to solve.
There have been players with 2 thousand hours and are hot garbage on a specific Killer or just being a Survivor/Killer in general since they main one side. Yes there is may be a SLIGHT issue based on knowledge since even if you absolutely suck at playing something, you have the knowledge before-hand on how the game works. But MMR will eventually correct that and put you where you need to be. This thing literally just rolled out. It's not worth rushing until you given it legit time to correct itself accordingly after a few matches.

@xTalon32 said:
Quoted from @MandyTalk in another thread:
"Nothing to do with being survivor sided at all!
It's locked in because when you search for a match that's when the matchmaking happens, so if you queue with your strongest killer for example and then decide to change to another killer whilst in the lobby you are going to struggle...that would also be abused the other way around - you'd queue on your weaker killer and be matched with survivors of that skill level, then switch up to one of your stronger killers in the lobby.
The difference for survivors that there's no difference between characters in the same way there is for killers."
You seemed to have completely missed the point of my entire post.
-
It's almost as if MMR is calculating your Skill Rating and not your Rank. Which means that as far as MMR is considered, you along with that "brand new" player have no statistical data to pull from until you create the record for MMR. Everyone is on relative equal terms until about 10 or so matches. Have you never played OverWatch Comp or CoD? Literally the same thing.
So I say again.
RANK. DOESN'T. MATTER. Stop bringing it up, Rank means nothing to MMR.

As the news has said:
RANKS
DON'T
MATTER
It's about Skill Rating. You know how many players purposefully deranked to get out of games where they are supposed to be at? If it's your first couple of matches, MMR has to find out where you scale and adjust you accordingly. Have you guys never played OverWatch before? They do the exact same thing for competitive. I think CoD does it too. If it's NOT your first couple of matches, then you are where you need to be.

The stand is a novel by Stephen King about a plague called captain trips that kills 99% of the earth's population. Multiple parties are set up across America to survive. This evil sorcerer called Randall Flagg builds an empire in the apocalypse as well. The novel is regarded as one of King's best works and is over 1000 pages long. A miniseries was made in the 90s which was also pretty well received. A new miniseries is coming out in 2020, which is very highly anticipated from us Stephen King fans. If we aren't getting Pennywise in the game, Randall Flagg or the dark man would be an amazing killer or Stu Redman as a survivor. I think out of all the Stephen King stories, the stand has the highest potential to be in dbd.
Much as I loved the book, I can't see it happening.

He's slow. His bottles are hard to hit on a chase. Usually i can hit a bottle when i can just walk and do a basic attack. Playing by the survivors rule book and hooking every single one of them 3 times when their rushing gens its hard... really hard!

I've noticed a lot of players saying "You should balance toward the highest level of play". This game play fallacy is has been around forever and I'm going to explain why it doesn't work. It's actually very simple...
When game play is balanced toward the "Highest Level of Play", you exclude the casual player base, that makes up 90% to 95% of your game, in your balancing decisions. It basically causes the skill-cap to become so high, that only 5% to 10% of players can actually play the game.
Examples...
- Starcraft II was balanced toward the highest level of play and the game became a spectacular failure. It became so skill-capped for high end play that all of the casuals left the game because it was literally unplayable to casuals. This game alone, should be a text-book reason why you don't balance toward "The highest level of play". The game had everything it needed to become one of the top games ever. It has a massive loyal fan base to both Starcraft and Blizzard. The esports world was hungering for Starcraft II, after the popularity of Starcraft. Yet Developer decision after decision, made the game harder and harder for casuals to play, because every decision was based on the most skilled player.
- The Nurse in Dead By Daylight. Here's another great example in our own game, where "Balancing Toward the Highest Level of Play" doesn't work. The Nurse has become so skill-capped, because she was balanced towarded the highest level of play, that new players won't even attempt her, casual players stopped playing her and only the best Nurse players pick her up. However, when the best Nurse players do play her, she gets 4ks within minutes of the start of the game. The only reason she works in DBD is because there are many other killers that casuals can play.
The better option for game play balance is balance game play around casuals and use high-end game play to adjust game play that can be exploited by very skilled players.
People don't play Nurse because she's bugged as hell though, not because she's hard. No one minds a high-skill ceiling when it comes to Killers and they love the reward they reap when they master the Killer. It's why you see Spirits, Docs, and underrated Killers running around.

half of them have ds/unbreakable combo lol. This is one of those sweaty swf groups
So... slug them again? I'm not sure where the confusion is here. Either way, you create pressure and degrade their ability to survive. I've also seen lots of solos rocking the same builds in the same number. Doesn't mean they're SWF's nor does it mean they're sweaty. Imagine being called sweaty for running any meta perk or getting a 4k.

Idk, seems like a common build you can fight against. Don't tunnel. Pretty easy

I think Demo is fine where he's at. I get consistent 4ks with him and I don't use any add-ons at all. I do believe his add-ons themselves need to be redefined. But other than that, he's a good boi.
