Nope.
I've constantly been pipping or double pipping. There are times I safety pipped but I've never depipped ever since the update came out.
This was with adept Steve. Though my experience might differ to others.
-
Personally my matches has been mostly Escapes or All Gens being done. The only times I died or we never got gens done is when we are facing a Killer like Nurse & Spirit, someone DCs or we royally messed up.
(Edit: To add because I know someone will reply to me saying how OP the killers I mentioned are. No, we didn't die because they were playing that exact killer, we died because we were being overly altruistic and both of those killers can keep someone on a hook for long without needing to patrol that far.)
Got my remaining adept achievements in one day, and usually I find that to be rather bothersome because I heavily depend on Windows of Opportunity to show me loops in Solo queue.
-
You do at least know that even someone highly skilled would have trouble with DBD's spaghetti code right?
I'm not programmer, but I do know someone who is, and even he said he won't touch the code because of how messy it seems to be.
-
@Erak said:
You can turn it of by setting sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0 in your GameUserSettings.ini or does this not have any effect?
No they made it so you cannot change the settings anymore.
-
I have to just say, playing both sides I literally noticed no difference in how the game looks and feels. Then again I usually play games with AA on rather than it off.
-
Haven't faced a Myers myself, but I'll be sure to keep an ear out to see if this was intentional.
-
I suggest to start running a combination of Dead Hard + Windows of Opportunity. Should help you out finding the new loops on the new maps for now.
I've been trying to get my adept achievements for the remaining Survivors and it probably has been the easiest Adepts I've gotten in a long while with how every map is structured now.
It's fair, you can definitely keep the Killer busy for longer, but if you screw up just a bit, you're gonna get hit. That goes for both sides.

"if you know freddy is coming hope you get a skill check"
alright I'll keep that one in mind chief
That's not what I was talking about, though I guess I wasn't being clear.
I mean when you're near an alarm clock, not a skill check.
If Freddy's coming and you just came out of a Dream State from the alarm clock you have a long wait time before you go to sleep again.
If Freddy is busy elsewhere, miss a skillcheck or get woken up by another survivor. It's safer that way. You really want to use Alarm Clocks for long chases rather than just to stay awake when you have no reason to be awake for the time being.
-

but your never 1 minute to falling asleep (unless alarm clock, which spawns as far away as it can making it simply a waste of time ) you are almost certainly less then that
I don't it's super OP or anything, but the ability to "ice" a survivor out till their asleep just feels kinda cheap whenever it happens it's like getting punished for just existing
Which is typically why I try to make sure I don't wake up until I see Freddy coming from a distance (I always bring Object), Having 90 seconds with using the alarm clock really makes a difference when facing Freddy.
You don't really want to wake up whenever you can, you want to wake up when you should. If you can be woken up by other means you should, especially if he isn't immediately a danger to you.
-
@youarewronglol said:
I would agree, but the fact you still fall asleep while in chase kinda kills this, not like you'll always be 1 minute till sleep, it'll usually be a lot less unless you fail skill checks a lot to avoid this (bad idea)
To be fair, 1 minute is already a long time when you're in a chase. That's already 3 generators almost done if all survivors spread out. If Freddy manages to not hit you until you are put into the Dream State then that Freddy just shouldn't be at the rank he currently is at.

I hate the perk OoO... Using the perk suggests to me you want a chase, you know how to loop, and you'd waste my time so I always leave the OoO last to hunt lol. Not sure if that is common among killers, but I find the OoO get's frustrated when I point blank ignore them and take out the weaker survivors first.
If they do that, typically they tend to just be wasting their own time.
You want the Killer to chase you, but if they are busy with someone else, work on a generator, unhook someone, heal them, disarm traps, etc etc.
If they are chasing you rather than you chasing them, then good, that already basically nullifies one survivor from doing anything useful for the rest of the game ^^
Of course, I'm only talking about this as my experience as a Solo Survivor playing with Object. I rarely play SWF with it mainly because I rarely play SWF 🤷♀️
-
Completely fair and balanced, use it all the time in my main survivor build but love going against Survivors who know how to use it.
Wish they'll fix being exhausted on the floor soon though

Problem is the perk combination is a viable and rewarding option for any killer and not just Freddy.
As a rank 1 killer who regularly plays predominately Freddy, Ghostface, Dr and occasionally spirit I will play thana, pop, bbq and dying purely because it's a strong combination to apply pressure and slow gen speeds. Swing chains, I rarely use on Freddy mostly because they never appear in the blood webs and secondly I prefer fake pallets so adding another add-on which strengthens that ability such as blindness works well.
As someone who plays with Object of Obsession, curse you and your fake pallets! D:<
Seriously, Freddy with Pallets and Snares is like night and day for me. I often run Windows of Opportunity on my Survivor build because it helps to find loops when playing Solo, but Freddy with Pallets just COMPLETELY overwhelms me with information on possible pallet spawns. I will blank out on which pallets are real and which isn't.
Doesn't make him any less intense though, just means I still need to learn when facing a Freddy who uses pallets.
-
I've said this in other threads but basically I think the reason people complain is because Dead by Daylight gives them an ego to live up to.
It's easy to let yourself go when you think of how great you are after beating 4 other players, or how great you are after beating an "overpowered" killer. But when something stops you feeling like that, it all comes crashing down.
NoeD is just one of those things.
-
It's actually probably one of the better updates to come out in recent months, I love the new maps as survivor (haven't tried it out as Killer), it feels a lot more fair but more challenging. Matchmaking still iffy though, I'm being matched with Rank 8 Killers, but I suppose that is still within BHVR's 8 rank range.
-
Correction, it's the logic of people who only play one side of the game.
-
Actually I noticed that from the update prior to this.
I think that'll happen if you only use Hatchets for damage, because I noticed I stopped gaining deviousness if I just rely on my hatchets all the time.

@Cheers said:
To me Spirit matches are great. It really brings out the use of Iron Will and Spinechill, and her chases are unique.
As for Freddy, majority of them use Forever Freddy, a build that uses Jump Rope and Swing chains, usually paired with other slowdown perks.
Additionally, in the chase they just spam portals, making each loop impossible to run.
I do admit Freddy players who play like that tend to play with a more boring playstyle, it's basically Legion on steroids (and I mentioned that I dislike Legion). But it doesn't bother me as much as Legion though because Freddy himself is still rather fun to chase around. If they spam snares they tend to be horrible at chases.
I know someone who is a Godly Freddy and he literally never uses snares, only teleportation. Basically playing him purely as an M1 and Teleporation Killer. I dread playing against him. Because I know I will lose even without him using Snares or Pallets. He is just that good. And that skill is transferred to the other Killers he mains like Doctor and Hillbilly. Such a good player, I honestly wish more people are like him.

I play Spirit as well (or played, currently not really into Spirit because of the Sound Bugs), so I know this. However, she has nothing to lose when doing the Stand still-"mindgame".
Well, I also main Spirit but I will say though my experiences with standing still tends to be hit or miss. Sometimes you get Survivors who just panics and doesn't know what they are doing. Other times they got far enough to another loop/pallet and I've wasted my power to catch up to them.
I have to make sure where they are going first, I don't immediately start to phase the moment I see they are moving away from me. I want to make sure they get a good distance so I can predict where they are heading next.

Yeah, and when you run away she can phase after you.
That's why I said to get out of LOS, because she then has to guess herself where you went. She does have a cooldown before she can activate her ability, and during that duration she won't be able to see Survivors.

I'm not concerned about rank as your devotion reveals more about how long you've played. I'm more concerned that this picture doesn't tell me anything. The username is blacked out for privacy, but that could also indicate this is a stolen picture. Also with the way rank reset works and has for the last few months, you don't need to play much to get into red ranks if that's where you were before the reset. I'd much rather see your Freddy level.
I always black out my username in this forum, because I don't like people in the forum who I don't know knowing the name of my account.
Also where would I look for the picture if it was stolen?
I would show you my Freddy level but I'm honestly just not interested in continuing this discussion, believe me if you wish or not. Plus you probably wouldn't buy it anyways, or claim I just "stole the picture" from someone else or somehow photoshopped it based on how this conversation is going.

@White_Owl said:
Tbh I prefer her this way. Always found the stand-still-to-win tactic very lame.
You know you can counter that by running away from her and out of LOS right? then hiding? Or using a flashlight to confirm whether or not she is phasing (You won't blind her if she is actually phasing)
If Spirit stops, it's generally a good idea to NEVER run into her.
EVER.

Yeah, you're definitely not a survivor main. You would know that Pop is absolutely devestating on a killer that can literally warp to an objective in seconds and demolish the progress on it.
Haven't reached Rank 1 this season because I've been on and off with University assignments.
But of course, you will say that Rank doesn't matter and I agree. Rank doesn't matter.
But really, do you think people you disagree with are just Killer/Freddy Mains? Is it really impossible for you to think that someone out there who plays primarily Survivor disagrees that Pop is not devastating, and that Killers like Freddy and Spirit is fine as is?

He's boring because the game slows to a crawl.
He also straight up ignores BT so he can tunnel for free.
He also just teleports to your gen across the map and pops it to kill any momentum you've earned from having him distracted for 70 seconds.
He's literally more boring Clown despite being a stronger killer. He puts me to sleep irl.
Pop is literally only 20 seconds, it's not as devastating as most people think it is.
And slowing the game down to a crawl? Unless you're a godly Freddy like someone I know, Freddy can't slow the game down to a crawl just by existing.
Also the thing about ignoring BT. If you know you are facing him, why even try to unhook when he is nearby? I'm pretty sure you can just wait until he either leaves or get someone who is awake with BT to snatch him while Freddy is distracted with someone else.
I mentioned before in the post prior to this that Freddy and Spirit are the two killers who I think forces the Survivors to play a 4v1, how a true strong killer should feel like. And that is why I think he should stay.
-
I've actually haven't been hindered much with the sound bug whenever I play Spirit, in fact it's still the same. Most people just suck playing against her, like always.
So even if they could hear her Terror Radius, they still panic and go in aimless directions.

Strong killers are fine. But if they're boring, I don't care for them.
How is he boring? He literally forces you to have a second objective which you can ignore, but can prove lethal if you keep doing that for ages.
He also gives you a time limit before he can use his power (if you haven't been hit) on you, the guy literallly keeps the threat level high. How is that boring?
-
Had a first game as a Solo Survivor.
Loved it, was able to basically run the killer around the whole map. I didn't notice any dead zones and the map looked so different.
I was playing in Ironworks of Misery. Can't wait to try these new maps as Killer. (Yes I am aware of the Rainbow Ranks, but I didn't notice a difference, everyone seemed to be playing as optimally as they can.)

Definitely what a Freddy main would say.
Eh, take it what you willl. I just want killers that aren't easy to go up against, Freddy and Spirit gives me that kind of challenge :)
I'm sorry if you just cannot take going against a Killer who is strong like him.
-
@Orionbash said:
Freddy is in need of a major nerf and I'm so glad that people are speaking up about it. He's the most OP POS killer in this game that takes zero skill to play. The only people you'll see defending him are Freddy mains or killers that switch to Freddy when they get steamrolled by a team that outplayed them just so they can mindlessly get their 4k and feel like a winner without actually improving. Everyone else recognizes how OP he is and agrees that he needs a nerf. But noooooo, just like everything else in this game BHVR gotta cater to the minority of killers that whine about not getting a 4K in every game.
Not a Freddy main, I primarily play Survivor.
I think Freddy is 100% fine where he is.
-
If you're not confident in your chase abilities, ignore the OoO user. Go after the other Survivors. They tend to be a lot less confident in their chasing abilities than the person using OoO.
If you are confident in your chase abilities, try to down them as quickly as possible and try to make sure they enter second stage on their first hook. That would leave them on death hook immediately and would be easier for them to keep down (Try to make sure they go down someplace you can defend without outright camping them).
Other than that, just remember that OoO is not as broken or overpowered as most people think it is. The kind of information it gives you is rather limited, and it's only mostly used to bait the killer to chase the Survivor who is most confident in their chasing ability.
-
Haven't finished downloading it yet but I will update how I feel with the new map updates because that is what I am most excited for.
-
I feel like this perk could use with some lingering effects. Like after you use it, it lingers for 5 seconds before it turns off for cooldown. Would make planning loops easier after vaulting once during a chase.

An Object of Obsession player who knows how to deal with Hag almost completely invalidates her. It's a near guaranteed loss because one competent player brought a perk - never mind if they're communicating the information they receive on comms. Of course an average OoO user is beatable as Hag, because most players still don't know how to properly deal with her, but if you face an OoO user who knows to follow you around the whole game disabling your traps (while being good enough to loop a 110 killer without a power, which isn't the highest bar) there's very little you can do about it. At best you can hope to lay a trap while they're within TR range without them knowing, which will hopefully surprise them at some point, or getting a hit with Dark Devotion to buy you some time to lay traps while they can't see you.
The perk itself is an issue and BHVR have danced around addressing the problem for a long time. The entire Undetectable status was introduced because OoO invalidated stealth killers - it's not like anyone thought Alert, Dark Sense or Kindred showing the auras of stealth killers was an issue. Undetectable hasn't solved the perk fundamentally supplying too much information to the survivor side and it needs changes.
Undetectable was added so that Killers would be more consistent with each other, why do you think the community had a fit when T1 Myers was changed to have Undetectable? Their reasoning was not because of Object of Obsession, their reasoning was because they wanted the Killers to function more consistently, especially Stealth Killers.
And about the perk giving the Survivor and presumably team a lot of information. So what? Again, it's not like they know exactly where you placed down your trap. Do you really expect SWF teams to completely understand what their teammate who has Object is saying?
People who play with friends aren't going to always play optimally, even if one is running Object. And those who are playing optimally can still be defeated if you ignore the person running Object and go for the obviously weaker targets. Object won't give the person who is running it perfectly clear cut information, so how would you be able to abuse it to tell the other survivor what the killer is doing? And even then, most people can tell if Hag is placing a trap and shutting down a loop. They'll most likely just run for the next one.
"She's placing a trap!"
"Yes I can see that!"

So they actively see me place a trap yet they don’t know where it is?
Your serious right?
And those “Meta Perks” are the usual culprits at red ranks and yet they can be played around to a certain degree if we’re not talking Active DS+Unbreakable.
IT has an undeniable impact
IT can RUIN games
IT does create unfun situations
and it is ABUSED
This is so far from a secret and it’s so widely known yet i still can’t find actual theory to your points?
No screenshots of 4k’s or you stating learn to play around that changes the fact that this perk needs attention.
And how many of those games that are "unfun" do you realistically have?
Because I am pretty sure it's a lot less than you think it is.
-
This has been suggested, once again, many MANY times before.
Both the community and the devs has repeatedly said they don't want to add Survivor passives to the game because it would force everyone to just play the most 'Optimal' Survivor rather than just your favourite survivor.
Stuff like these will particularly have everyone playing these survivors only.
When running toward a vault point and within 10 meters of said vault point, you run 2% faster.
When you're healing someone in the dying state, you heal 5% faster.
While injured, you move 1% faster.
While you're the obsession, you recover from Status Effects 15% faster.
Your base chance of escaping a hook is increased to 10%.
I'm pretty sure no one would play Dwight, Claudette, Jake or Nea anymore because their passives are just objectively not as good as the other ones you listed.
-
@NursesBootie said:
Freddy's abilities require no skill to use. I think that's the problem most players got with him.
I'm pretty sure even with a low skill threshold you can still beat him. Quite easily in fact.
I don't have screenshots like I usually do, but the last couple of (Snares) Freddy I faced in Red Ranks wasn't too happy I was running Object of Obsession comboed with Windows of Opportunity.
Plus, as I've mentioned in my previous post, I feel like strong killers like him should stay that way. A killer should not have to put in 4x the amount of effort in an Asymmetrical game. It needs to be challenging, but not downright brutal and unforgiving as well as hopeless to have a chance to win. It's why some people disregard playing Killer because of how stressful select games have been, while the majority of them tend to be on the easier and relaxing side.

So your point being, L2P?
sure.
Im pointing the fact out that this perk leaves ROOM to be abused by SWF which is no secret like idek why you’d try and defend that with your reasoning being.
“my opinion” (there not always run by death squads)
When in fact they’re the ones abusing it the most.
And you fetching a screenshot from your files does nothing for me or your point.
Being able to 4k against it doesn’t nullify the point of the damage it does against a Trapper setting up or likewise to Hag.
You do know that they only see your aura, but not the exact location you placed your traps right? Like I can see you placing a trap, but I won't know where it exactly is because I'm far away from you.
And of course it is open to be used by SWF groups, but so are everything else. Removing Object doesn't really negate anything information wise. If they really want to beat you in a game, they don't even need to bring Object to do so. They can bring Unbreakable, Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike and Adrenaline. The "Four Horseman of Meta Perks" as someone once said.
Like I said, learn to play against Object. Because the person who is running Object most likely wants to be chased, so they can waste the most time. But you can just try to ignore them instead. The person using Object cannot always accurately call out mindgames and where exactly the killer is relative to their position.
Remember, they can only read your aura. But not your exact location.
Learn to play against Object.

Needs to start at matchmaking. PERIOD.
Rank 20 Killers matching against red ranks is unacceptable and leads to new players literally being bullied by toxic survivors.
I’d have no idea how you’d even begin tbh.
Matchmakings been broken since i can remember.
No, that is intended. White Ranks (Rank 20-16) don't have any matchmaking whatsoever because getting a match there can take upwards to an hour. So they changed it so they get matched with everyone, so they at least can get into a game rather than wait up to an hour to just get into one game.

I understand yet many players, particularly new ones have trouble with these things. Do you think it comes from something else such as matchmaking? I know the devs have spoke on stream about optimizing or reworking matchmaking and/or the rank or emblem system. Also, what about character progression. It's slow for veteran players but for new players it's borderline unreasonable, don't you think?
I agree it is an unreasonable grind for new players, BHVR really needs to add more to entice new players to stay in the game and endure the grind by lessening it when they start playing.
-
Learn to play against Object, also most people who use Object aren't in a Four Man Death Squad.
I for one run Object in a Solo match because I want the killer to chase me specifically.
As for the perk making Hag & Trapper irrelevant, once again, learn to play against Object.

i dont use it anymore. i got away with DS a lot even tho i didnt get tunneled. i think its kinda annoying and unfair for the killer when he finds you randomly and didnt even thought about tunneling you but still get punished for it.
when a killer is a hardcore tunnler he deserves to get ds'ed not 1 time, 2,3,4 times! people who wanna make the game experience of other people bad should also feel the same. but when i play against a killer who is actually very kind and cares about the fun of other people i feel bad.
i said it long time ago, change DS to a FULL anti tunnel perk and make it usable 2 times for the hard tunnlers and let it deactivate as soon someone gets hooked. but i got a lot of hate for that. obviously then the hard tunnlers cant destroy the fun of other people right?
its not like you can just get tunneled 1time per match.
Honestly if DS was changed to that I would 100% replace Windows of Opportunity for it in my current build setup right now. Because I get tunneled A LOT. (I purposefully bring Object)
-
I just eat it if there is no other survivor immediately nearby. You'll be surprised how less DS has been used in high ranks, because I tend to find teams that just flat out didn't bring any Obsession perks.

My mistake, it seems like the delay was actually for the Escalation Tome and not the Mid-Chapter update. One of the many inconveniences of Timezones is not knowing when something is actually posted ^^;. My apologies.
-
Peanits actually mentioned in my thread about how he feels about a Casual Mode in DBD.
And I have the same opinion, I feel like having a Casual Mode will just fracture the playerbase even more.
I feel like a better approach is to give new players an incentive to keep playing until they have reached a high enough rank/level for them to be able to grind more comfortably with perks that are more suited for them to play and experiment with.
Maybe like a Bloodpoint bonus that decreases incrementally the closer to the level threshold you are. Though that may be a horrible idea that would disincentivize people from playing because they aren't getting as much rewards.
-
I'm pretty sure you can get more optimal rigs for cheap, my friend. Look up an AMD Ryzen 7. They're around 329USD and they made DBD go from choppy 30 fps to consistent 60 fps (even with other programs like FL Studio being on in the background). Of course they are probably more expensive now thanks to Covid.. Since everyone's working from home.
But if you want something cheaper than a Ryzen 7, there's a Ryzen 5 that is going on for around 169USD.
As for GPU, the base requirement is a GeForce GTX 460 which costs like 199USD right now.
-
I'm going to have to go with Legion, they may be fun to play as and I have gotten a good amount of 4ks playing as them, but their power is just probably objectively the weakest. Though that may just be my own personal experience with them.
I can get kills easier with Clown and Leatherface, but Legion I kinda struggle a bit. Yeah he can injure everyone in one go, but that requires them to be nearby to him, plus he also gets stunned for 5 seconds after using his power, and not only that but using M1 just resets your power for some reason.
I'm pretty sure that isn't a thing for Freddy, Spirit, Nurse, Doctor or other cooldown-based killers in the game.
