It's because they're scared that reducing the gtind will means players having nothing to work towards and thus won't play the game.

But there's going to be a breaking point at some point where the grind is simply too much for new players and user numbers will start to decline.

They need to make the change before that happens, not after.

And that is just stupid of them. If you want to play any killer regulary with decent add-ons you have to level them anyway even without getting perks. And there are a lot of killers. Not to mention there are 2 new characters every 3 months with 6 perks and 18 perk tiers

  • You didn't get my point at all!

  • @Superyoshiegg said:

I don't understand why people complain so much about the grind when *they* are the ones deciding to Prestige every character three times over for a single cosmetic set.

Newsflash people, Prestige is optional and not part of the grind. There's no point in going past level 40 (when you unlock the third teachable) on characters you do not play. Yet people still dump several million Bloodpoints into characters they're never gonna play, and then complain about it.

Getting every character to level 40, and the perks you want on your mains of choice, should be considered the grind. Not getting *every character to level 200+*. Of course that is going to take forever, because its not supposed to be done by the average player, and provides no benefit when it is done.

Of course I'm an absolute extreme example and not the normal player. But the avarage player does invest a fraction of the time I invest in this game. And because of that they have a really hard time trying any new character especially killers.

I'm not complaining for me, I prestiged on purpose for completion. I complain about the game beeing absolutely beginner unfrendly. It's not just the grind you have to learn so many maps, killer-powers, perks, Add-ons, how to play against spcific killers, how to play killers on different maps and still have to work your ass off to get a proper loadout on your prefered character.

Also you literally paid real money for those character and not just the teachable perks. It might occur that you want to actually play them and not just have them in your loadout, and by playing I mean playing them with proper perks!

  • @KSzerker said:

Grind's fine, stop prestiging and unlocking all the garbage unlockables if you hate grinding.

I never said someone has to prestige and I'm also not an example for the average player. I'm a more extreme example anyway. I complained mainly that the grind is too intense for newer players. And that is definitely the case. You have to play hundreds of hours to be able to play different Killers properly.

As you can see it is possible when you play 5 years straight and commit a lot of time to this game. But only less than 1 % of the playerbase actually plays this game that much. The majority of players has a really hard time having a proper loadout on killers they want to play.

  • @SweetTerror said:

I hate to make a blanket statement like this, but Behavior isn't going to do anything to reduce the grind. It's been over 5 years, and this has been a constant complain that has never gone away. And what makes it worse is the fact that they know that it's a big issue with their player base, and yet they still don't do anything about it other than give us some codes here and there for free blood points.

Well it has been reduced drastically twice already. Bloodwebs in 2016 were way bigger than now and you would only earn a fraction of the bloodpoints that you get today. Also you could only get one perk per bloodweb.

But because the game gets bigger and bigger every 3 months, and the last grind reduction was a long time ago, we need anotherone.

congratulations friend , you must feel amazing right now :D

It's not the first time I have all characters, First time was after the Resident Evil Chapter.

As someone who has bought the game the other day and has 15 hours so far, I was just shocked to see how unbelievably grindy the game is, not to mention that not all killers you can get for free, you have to spend real money on them, I'm already giving up on the game, i can't even level neither survivors nor killers because u get too little BP and it takes ages to earn shards, just thinking about how long it'll take me to earn 9k shards makes me sick

how much money did you spend buying the auric cell killers?

Well I play this game since release so I bought every DLC when it realeased. But no, I don't want to know how much money I spent on the game ...

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Nice. And then, when you have no more perks to grind for, then what?

Alone the struggle to get the 3 new perks of one chapter back on every character ist grind enough. Every three months ... And it is 6 perks when you have to do it on both sides.

  • Well I have 5420h and all characters on both sides P3 Level 50 All perks (Except Mikaela). Only took me 737 million BP.

3rd Bubba in a ROW who's done this.

Hook someone in basement, camp, get someone else, camp...

And they say camping is okay for the game.

    Go Figure.

When the killer camps, do gens and leave him with his 1K.

Last friday, Nvidia released a plugin for Unreal Engine (the engine dbd uses) which allows develepors to easily add DLSS 2.0 to their game. It would be really awesome if this feature was added to DBD, since the game isnt that amazingly optimized and this would really help. DLSS boosts FPS with about 70-90% (sometimes 100%).

Before, Developers would have to contact Nvidia to get DLSS support in their games, but now, every game that is made with Unreal Engine can easily add this feature, so BHVR has no exuses not to add it (im pretty sure?)

Ray Tracing support would also be amazing, but thats a feature i can imagine is a lot harder to add. It would make the game look amazing and should be done while they're already reworking most maps with the graphics rework. Some years ago, Ray Tracing was just a joke, but now, when both Nvidia and AMD GPUs (and new consoles with AMD GPU) support the feature, BHVR should really consider adding this feature.

Nvidia Reflex would be way more important to reduce latency.

  • The problem is right now, that the the flashlight save timing depends on the killer ping. There are also other heavy latency and desync problems, that were completely gone right after 4.5.2 but are back now. So when you didn't get a save but should have it most certainly is because your killer has a high ping. That is not solved by giving a free FLS every time the killer picks someone up, but rather by fixing the desync and latency AGAIN.

The window to get a flashlight save kinda sucks. Sometimes I'll get it and sometimes I won't even though my timing is pretty much the same everytime. I just think if you get points for the blind and the flashlight does the animation they should drop the survivor. It's rare you get the opportunity to do so anyway.

    NO!

Franklin's Demise is at the very top of my list of things I do not like about this game. Every time I go up against a killer that uses it I literally just feel like giving up. I have never had a fun or interesting match against this perk. I never have enough time to retrieve my item because after you get hit you have to either lose the killer in a chase or get unhooked quick enough to get the item back and in both situations I lose my item most of the time. I am so hesitant to play anything above a yellow item in fear that its just going to get deleted with franklins.

I think this perk needs to have some changes. Instead of knocking the item out of your hand, make the item unusable for a short amount of time. How about 30 seconds or even a minute? That way you at least have a chance to use the item and escape with it rather than having to worry about trying to recover it again.

It is just an item and the killer wastes an entire perk slot for it. What are you complaining about. Also I think since the Franklins change I lost one item to actually despawning it.

  • @jacindazs said:

Well, we did a pretty good job so far... UNTIL NOW! I play this game 3 years!!! And this change is terrible. Terrible. Who create this. Why? What was bad about all information in one corner. It looks like circus now. Disappointment. Seriously disappointment.

I play since release and there were a lot of things I disagreed with and didn't like but it was always possible to forgive then. I mean I was a billy main and loved him and the devs even said they are happy woth his performance and basekit and only want to tweak him a bit. In the end they destroyed him and took every bit of fun from billy. So I stopped playing billy.

But the bew hud and animation changes are so fundamental that I am seriously thinking about stopping playing this game after 5 years and 4.5k hours.

  • My hit validation feedback.

If you wouldn't have mentioned that it is active, I wouldn't have noticed it. Therefor it doesn't work. High ping killers and also survivors still have a benefit of their bad connection, so vpning is still an easy way to cheat. Also in the past few weeks I noticed that the killer ping now even affects FL save timings and other things.

Conclusion it does not work and doesn't do anything. But low ping killers are punished and grabs aren't just canceled no you don't even turn a canceled grab into a M1. So instead of beeing down they are fulllife.

  • ANIMATIONS:

First of all the old animations were completely fine. They weren't the most modern or realistic but they looked good and fitted the fast paced gameplay.

Therefor changing the animations shouöd result in better looking, more realistic or modern animations. And that is not the case. The new animations look completely unnatural and robotic. Idle standing animation is like a marionette hanging on strings. The running animations are stiff and don't fit the speed at all. It is difficult to add realistic animations to a game where you are able to move unrealistically fast. Also the transition animations may be a good idea, but the won't work in this game where you can change directions instantly. In Red dead Redemption 2 for example where they have really realistic animations they also included inertia to the movements so that you can't turn unrealistically.

The injured running animations are also really stiff and are almost not distinguishable from the full life animations. So have have to look in the top right corner to see if this person is injured.

And of course the new hitbox issues probably caused by the new animations are absolutely unacceptable. The animations contributed almost no improvements but on the other hamd caused a lot of new issues and should therefor be reverted until they are in a way better state.

I mean the look as clumsy as the beta animations. Like wraith running without any body movement.

  • HUD:

The old hud was minimalistic and organized you could see everything without looking around the entire screen. And I loved it.

Things I don't like about the new hud:

    - The new character portraits don't fit in the games artstyle at all and look out of place there are already suggestions here with other portraits.

    - those new text lines e.g. "Find generators to repair" might be suitable for complete beginners but are completely obsolete for many people with thousands of hours and are simply blocking screenspace. You could make these texts toggleable with the show tutorials button in the settings.

    - If I bring an Item to the game the icon for that item in the bottom left corner is bigger than the character portraits that give me important information about the game. I have noticed that I didn't even recognized that someone was injured because it is so subtle.

    - Bleed, struggle and mend bars are way too small compared to the rest.

    - And why is the power button as a killer shown twice M2 in the bottom left corner where the power icon is and also in the bottom center.

    - The positions of the old hud where thought through and organized. The new positions seem to be completely random and it doesn't seem like that anyone who plays the game regularly designed their positions. It 8s just straight bad design that you have to look in 4 corners of the screen to get all your information. Especially for people with big monitors or even tvs. They have to move their head to see survivors statuses now.

  • @Trashmaster said:

Cleansing a totem takes whole 8 seconds? Nope can't do bones that's a whole 10% generator progress lost right there

People need to stop listening to survivors who whine about ruin undying. They make it seem like it's impossible to win when killers run these perks. I'm a killer Main and beat this combo in solos! This combo only seems op because you have survivors who hide and do nothing whole game or leave gens when they hear the TR.

    https://youtu.be/wzanAto9XLU

Most players are bad at the game. Because there are tons of maps, killers, killerpowers, perks, add-ons ... to learn. Almost every player lacks of game sense. They don't know what to do best in many different situations. To learn all that you need to play thousands of hours. It goes well when you started to play this game early on, and new content got added over time. But when new players start this game they are bombed with a massive amount of content they have to learn all at once.

An because the ranking system isn't based on skill but rather on playtime during a season, even players with only 100hrs are reaching rank one (especially in SWF, or with ruin undying tinkerer support wheels). And that's why so many bad players are on Rank 1!

  • @TheeclumsyNinja said:

I get that at low ranks its strong, but ranks 1-3 its simply a way to help you get some trackion.

I as a killer do not wanna sweat 2/3 matches against good swf with all their op perks completely untouched for years when the killer finally gets something to help early game at red ranks and its nerfed within 3 months.

The devs say they want something to help with early game... well you had it but all the bad survivors complained so you nerfed it into the ground immediately.

If they complain about something as simple as doing totems what the hekk are you ever gonna be able to do to help early game lol

Devs need to get a back bone, stop babying bad survivors and force them to learn how to loop in a chase.

It wasn't a help for early game. It was a pair of suppot wheels for bad killers. GIving you an immens ammount of time by litteraly doing nothing. Just like old ruin.

I was fine with PTB Billy, but I'm not okay with live version Billy, especially with the feeling of bumping into objects.

PTB Billy felt just as weird as it does now.

  • You can turn it of by setting sg.AntiAliasingQuality=0 in your GameUserSettings.ini or does this not have any effect?

  • @nos4a2 said:

Agreed! I am a billy main and he is very clunky and almost unplayable I don’t know why they messed with him at all he was fine .

They did it once when the legion came out when they gave him his snow plow hitbox for the chainsaw. That was weird but ok but now it is just unplayable.

  • I'm just wondering how they will detect players skill. They are trying this for 3.5 years with their ranking system and it isn't working. Andif they did find a system to track players skill correctly why wouldn't they put that system into the ranking system. Why even bother to make a new "hidden system"? What is the reason for the ranking system in the first place.

  • As far as I know skill checks are completely client sided. So it's your pc that lags.

  • Did you play solo on red ranks? There are players with 100 and even less hours on rank one. They have no game sense at all and you are telling me I am supposed to die with ######### teammates. No thanks. I don't play in a try hard SWF group. We almost never use items, don't discuss what perks we are taking we are just playing normally with voice chat. If there was no SWF I would be a killer main.

  • It's completely ok that the humming of the huntress isn't directional and the Oni music is slightly directional but Demogorgon and even more the new Doctor are almost not directional at all and that is what bothers me.

  • I play killer and survivor and I like my flashlights as suvivor and have no problems with them as killer. People that struggle against flashlights just need to learn how to counter them. Getting a flashlight save is harder than ever before. And you have an obsticle to face almost in every situation when you pick up a survivor. And if not just make a 180 and it is fine.

Blinding on palettes can be annoying but if you are wearing a headset you can hear them easy when they are injured. When they have iron will or are not injured you can still hear in which direction they are going. Also when you know that they will blind you just wait a second before breaking the palette, so they will waste some charges of their flashlight. Just look up for some seconds and break it then. Normally you won't be blind after the break animation.

  • I wish there was a shroud of binding for the killer. Using a shrouf of separation is just suicide for the killer.

  • They would have to tweak every map for that. Make them bigger and add more exit gates and change palette and window spawns. That is not really possible. Otherwise you could never escape because two killers can easily block both exit gates.

  • Use a macro and everything is fine!

  • Try it with a customer support ticket. But probably not.

    in Legacy Comment by Erak
  • It looked like that and it was perfect but after the Unreal Engine Update it was just as ######### up as the normal M1 hitboxes.

  • Unbenannt.PNG

I managed to get it even tough it was a pain in the a**!

    Some tips to achieve it!

    • I got it after Rang reset and I waited aswell for a few days after the reset till I played killer again. I was at Rank 11.
    • You should try to get iridecent Gatekeeper, Devout, and Malicious because for me chaser was the hardest to achieve. (I hooked everyone 3 times but still got chaser often only on silver. Damage from sickness does not count for chaser I guess).
    • To get gatekeeper iridecent make sure that the survivors don't do more than 3 gens.
    • Malicious and Devout were the easiest and I got them almost every attemt as iridecent.
    • For Chaser I tried not to injure people with vile purge instead I hit them two times.

All in all the new adept achievements are still just an indicator that you got massive patience or enourmous luck.

  • @Peanits said:

Legacy was given out to players who prestiged before a certain date. At that time, bloodwebs were much larger and prestiging took much longer to do. Since the bloodwebs then became easier, it was only fitting to reward those who had already done it with something special. Thus, legacy was born.

It will not be coming back out of respect to the people who earned it originally.

But it could be possible to do something similar just in another way. I got three legacy items but it would be cool if there was something similar again for newer characters.

  • @Milo said:

@Erak that was just for the OG surv and killers

@thrawn3054 its.... Still possible. But you need to have more patience than ever before.

I know that it was for the original killers. And yes it is possible and it does not bother me that it takes longer. It just does not represent any skill, it represents luck. And also I don't want to play Plague for 100 games to get it because I don't like playing her.

  • Yes and also people that already got them with the old system or even way back in the days where you only had to unlock all 3 teachable perks to get it. Have a big advantage in this point. I was lucky and got all except the Plague before the change.

  • @thrawn3054 said:

Wait, when did they make that change? That was a terrible idea.

The change came with the Plague

  • @PolarBear said:

Bring solo survivors more in line with swf and buff killers respectively is the correct way to balance swf. Not this.

Killers are stronger than ever before they don't need any general buffs. Some specific killers need them but not killers in general.

  • With the idiocy that you will find in todays randoms even on rank 4 this is just not a good idea. I don't play in a 4-man swf because I want to rush gens and get out as fast as possible. I play 4-man swf because I will escape once in a while and don't get wasted by dcing and suiciding randoms that go down within seconds.
