@Orion I don’t mean this in a rude or harsh way, but I don’t think your political rant has a place on the forum for an asymmetrical horror game in my humble opinion.

It's the best place for political rants. As long as we keep it civilized, it's interesting to know what the guys I play with think about politics. You say politics is very divisive. I say, with most people, if we actually listen to the other, even in the worst case we can get to that point of "agree to disagree"... and very possibly learn some new perspectives in the process.

Yes but you know what people on the internet do best, it almost never ends well. Walking on egg shells here and I think if we keep the convo related to the game the problem will
have a much higher chance of being solved and the conversation remaining productive.

It could cause more problems and fighting, politics divide people pretty harshly, and I think you’re better than that, while trash talking is definitely a problem, it’s ALWAYS been a problem since online gaming was first introduced, having thick skin is a self help way of being mature and moving on instead of giving salty players the time of day to make you the subject of their temper tantrum.

That’s all I’m trying to say, I’m not saying something shouldn’t be done, but I also think it’s a solution that anyone can get peace of mind from if they just don’t give confrontational individuals the attention they want to use against you. Just because someone else doesn’t have self control, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t as well.

I’m not implying that this problem should be ignored, but I also don’t think toxicity is the worst of this game’s problems right now.

Dude, my "rant"? I posted, like, two comments on Republicans - after someone else brought up politics - both of which put together were shorter than the first paragraph of your comment here.

Which in term nearly derailed the post’s original intent, yes.. it’s a bit of a stretch to suggest neo nazi’s are at fault for homophobic slurs in post game chat.. that’s just ridiculous, I think it’s because this game can be more stressful then fun at times and it gets people really upset.

My post is longer than your two comments because I know how you are, and I’m not going to start some sort of argument with you, I just think it was really too far to bring politics into a gaming problem that has existed for over 10 years now.

Take your screenshots, file a case report, it gets taken care of. The problem gets dealt with. Don’t engage them and give them your anger or get upset, you’re only hurting yourself. Have confidence in who you are and embrace your options, but don’t let someone you’ve never met make you think you should be ashamed of yourself, don’t respond to it, report and move on.

There are better ways to discuss the problem and find a solution without potentially setting someone else off on the forum because you offended them with a mere personal perspective of a political party. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not arguing about this with you. There are better ways to discuss this problem.

EDIT: counted 8 comments pertaining to the political subject. That is indeed enough to be a mini-rant. I’m done replying to you on this thread. I understand your frustration Orion, I really do, but I think it’s Best I leave this topic alone and move on, as I really don’t believe there’s much else productive to be said here in this conversation.
  • @thesuicidefox what’s your gamer tag? Me and @Nickenzie are on Xbox as well. :)
  • It’s a disadvantage in most cases honestly. As a survivor, killers will prioritize you because P3 signifies that you’re a serious player or are very experienced. It all depends on perception really. It can also scare survivors into gen rushing as fast as they can if they see a P3 killer and aren’t confident.

What frustrates me is that my Xbox One X could probably run the game better than 99% of PC's out there. But since the game wasn't built for this platform I'm stuck with 30 FPS until the optimization patch comes out.

If you were triggered by that let me ask, can your PC run Gears 4 in 4k 60FPS?

    No? Didn't think so. Checkmate.

Yes? How much money did you dump into it? Probably like $2000 or something. I paid $500. Checkmate.

    @Nickenzie said:
Actually, I have invested into the Xbox One X and it's the equivalent to a PC. Perfect 60 FPS except on certain maps like Haddon Field. Nurse is actually playable believe or not but I cannot speak for those who don't have the most powerful console in the market.

Hate to break it to you Nick, but even the X doesn't run the game at 60 FPS. It's locked to 30 FPS because they have to build for the lowest specs, which is the base Xbox. It does indeed run better than a normal Xbox, but frame drops are still a real issue.

We can't edit file to increase the FPS lock so we're stuck at 30 FPS. My apologies.

This so sad, I was so used to 15 FPS that 30 FPS feels like 60 FPS for me!

@Nickenzie DBD definitely runs at 60FPS on Xbox one X. I’m certain of it. 30fps never looks that smooth. It’s supposed to run 60fps for everyone on console but until the optimization patch we’re the only ones getting it. Btw, how are you enjoying the X so far? Hope you love it as much as I do.
  • Literally all you have to do to counter a nurse blink every time they blink, is run towards them just as they start to blink so they pop up behind you... they can’t turn around fast enough to wack you, and even if they could, you’re long gone.
  • Im sorry to say that but the game has been designed with sound being an important aspect in mind. I don't see a way to change it without heavy unintended side effects, even putting aside how much time, money and effort will have to be spend to make that work. DBD might not be for her anymore.
Maybe so, but I really don’t want to give up on it yet. I’ll find some way.
  • Remove the ability to down survivors with repeated frenzy strikes, and instead put them at 1% meter, if a legion strikes a survivor all the way to the 1%, a double stun is applied.

make it impossible for a survivor to go down from deep wounds while in the legion’s TR to prevent moonwalk exploits

if a survivor enters the legion’s TR three times while moving towards them then their aura is revealed to the legion for 2 seconds. (This prevents survivors from trolling the legion)

...then after you wasted your bleed out timer doing that, you have maybe 2-3 seconds to position yourself somewhere not in plain view before you start mending and are completely immobilized for the duration.

yeah, thats not really a viable counterplay tactic, just something that works vs bad players.

It’s all we got right now.
  • There’s more players now so they typically all join at the same time. I know it can be stressful, but if it’s too much I recommend playing hag or legion, and just focusing on filling deviousness, brutality, and hunting, and then go for kills.

Don’t hold yourself to a standard where if you’re not getting kills then it doesn’t matter, it’s really not healthy to stress like that, instead do what matters, pip.  Playing legion especially will teach you the patience and restraint of playing killer and actually reward you for not being greedy for kills.

Trust me if you play with the mindset that your goal is to cause as much chaos as possible before the survivors escape, you’ll enjoy the game much more.
  • @MandyTalk thank you Mandy, we are on Xbox but your efforts are appreciated. Until then all we can do is hope, unfortunately she is completely deaf and not hard of hearing, but I will find a way for her and continue to play test builds without sound.
  • You don’t need to use your right thumb stick... just swerve into them with the left thumb stick so they collide with you and you get a free hit every single time.
  • It’s the secret society of 1%ers that use the whispers perk. HAIL SITHIS.
  • I personally think you should run just perks.  It helps a lot more than totems do and they can’t be taken away from you.
  • What an unexpected request. Curious. Why do you have a problem with it?

The actual better question is, why are you trying to make it seem like the ######### aren't to blame for their behavior?

I’m not. Why would you play an online game and expect anything less? I’m not implying anything, I think you jumped the shark here, Orion, I’m not at all supporting trash talk, it’s just an easier solution to ignore it in general.
  • The better question is, why exactly are you letting it get to you?

  • I still am doing very, very well with him.
  • Survivors are getting buffed though, gens can be done in 15 seconds thanks to prove thy self, self care faster than being healed by another player (if it makes it past PTB) there are now medium vaults, Dwight perks got really good, status effect timers no longer stack, that’s just scratching the surface.
  • I still love him but that’s because I’m a sucker and I’m playing him anyway.

I play in 720p on the One X and since the update to the new unreal engine the frame rate is better but far from good enough, oh that's playing as the killer BTW.
I hope this update did NOT include the "optomisation patch" too because if it did... oh dear.
However, if the optomisation patch is still to come then should be awesome, 720p + unreal engine update + optomisation patch should see the game running at arond 50fps on the One X/PS4 Pro hopefully.

I too am on an X. Full 4k and the only framerate issue I get is when I hit a survivor in frenzy. Normal attacks are buttery smooth.
  • Sounds like you need to look up the perfect spec combination for your monitor/TV.
  • For killer it’s fine, but for huntress? You need to be a MW2 flickshot god to stand a chance with controller seeing as there is no aim assist.
  • Doesn’t bother me one bit. It’s never too late for Halloween.

Such a shame, that "timer ticking while mending" is useless, because it stops at 99% and does not down survivors.

Not true at all. He’s a near guaranteed hit based killer.  Lunge was increased, mending bar progress doesn’t save, mending is loud, and double stun was removed. That’s more than enough for someone skilled to make

    him extremely viable at R1.

    Uh, yeah, it is true?

Do you really believe he will be solid at R1?

I know it. He’s going to be more viable than Pig with these changes, and I’m a rank 1 pig. I know I can be viable with legion, and if I can, only been playing since mid August, anyone can.

What's the point of first, almost free hit, when you need to suffer as a 110%MS killer then? How is it going to make him viable at R1?

His lunge was increased, and his power  can be used at anytime during or after the 15 second recharge. Let’s settle on these changes and see how he is post release. I strongly believe he’ll be right where he needs to be. I’m confident in that.

I think that's actually a nice buff. Especially since now you can hear survivors mending, which means you can just leave them alone for a bit, and then go after them again when your power is recharged.
The more I think about it, the more I believe The Legion might actually become a viable killer, almost at the same level of Clown or Myers at least. We'll need to wait and see though how he plays when he is released.

I like that they made him a burst killer. I think Legion will be the most addicting killer for me because of how impactful is power is now.

  • Pretty good job so far for real and thank you BHVR. Dedicated servers and QOL changes are appreciated. Much love and respect.
  • I think the killershould get a bloodpoints multiplier every time he hooks a different survivor, with the multiplier disappearing if the killer stays within 10 meters of the hook for 10 seconds, as well as if they hook the same survivor twice.

Like a built in, aura free BBQ and chili meant to simply incentivize the killer to loosen up a little and focus on the bloodpoints instead of those trashy tryhards.
  • Who would be in it?
Members who are selected by the mods. Like the streaming promotion they did.
  • Too soon man, too soon. The legion controversy is already on the F5 scale, everyone needs to calm down.
    You may be right
I mean the killer is unplayable if your batteries died yeah. But it is functional. Just wait.

  • Hey bud, I’d like to share some insight on what is actually happening. At least on Xbox, there has been a bug since 2.2.0 that has persisted up until now.

Upon loading in, the code takes some sort of nose dive, and upon gen completion, killer stun, killer hit, or hook, the game will end and give the survivors the escape bonus bloodpoints and the killer loses a pip, receiving whatever bloodpoints they managed during the match.

Its just as infuriating for us as it for you, I promise. But be cautious labeling everyone as a rage quitter. I can’t tell you how demoralizing it is to have this bug happen, and be taunted with messages from some streamer calling me a rage quitter, followed by a bombardment of messages from the viewers.

Its a huge problem, I don’t know if it exists on PS4 and PC, but it definitely exists on Xbox.

  • And his swf friend sent me this one and this was hilarious, he never joined the party and never messaged me back too

Heh, you’re on Xbox. I can tell.
  • @The_Crusader the biggest mistake survivors still make to this day, is completing a gen while someone is hooked, I promise you that any time a gen is popped while someone is hooked, the incentive to stay only grows. The smart thing to do is stay off the gens, and make yourselves seen from a distance by the killer.

The trick that works works for me every time, is to stay about 32 meters from the killer, and just walk without making eye contact, make sure your character doesn’t turn their head, pretend you don’t see him and if you do it convincingly enough, the killer sees that as a free hit and will feel comfortable leaving that hook.

If he starts walking towards you, do not walk away until he’s closer to you than the hook, crouch behind something facing away from him, and when the TR music kicks in, you GTFO there.

There are are so many little clever things you can do and some of them help both sides in the nerves department.
  • @DarkWo1f997

I tried that earlier. Killer was camping someone. Just circling around and not leaving.

I baited him into chasing me. I go down due to a laggy hit and you know what he does? He then camps me.

And nobody was taking a hit for me.

So yeah....not worth feeding them because then they'll expect all their meals for free if you know what I mean.
It’s a comfort thing. If it happens often, playstyles will change to try and seek targets. It works on a majority but it would have to be in a coordinated group to make it work.

That one lone survivor being bait makes us clench our buttcheeks, something is fishy, and it looks to many like you are only bait that can get away itself.

Im sorry that happened, but when playing solo, I think it’s best to understand that you need to look out for number 1, if you see a survivor show you generosity while solo queue, what I do is I make sure to save THEM, as the match progresses, white list those that don’t do anything selfish, and abandon those who do.

wow Wolf... what a condescending response. "You find that game fun?"

it's almost as if you're being petty because you were proven wrong.

yes, some people enjoy minecraft, and just because minecraft CAN BE competitive it is NOT a competitive game at its core, nor does it need to be.

and even plenty of games that fall under the PVP category that are not competitive and not fair, but can still be fun. Unfortunately DBD is not one of those. I assume it has something to do with the very nature of the game and the reward system, but being horribly outmatched by a killer or by an SWF is not very fun and feels like you're wasting your time.
It was a joke, relax. Context is easily misconstrued through text. I enjoyed Minecraft for a while, it’s a great sandbox game where player freedom is unrivaled and exploration is up at one of the best experiences in that category.

Gathering resources and building can be a fun and engaging grind for many, the combat of that game is absolutely atrociously horrid, but everything else is easily an enjoyable experience for any audience.

I just cannot really go back to it because I prefer more sinister-toned games. That’s a preference.

Edit: I know for the context of other games it doesn’t apply, but the only thing that should be discussed here is DBD, and that is why I didn’t go out of my way to specify that.
  • The only killer that camps, is either very new, or extremely stressed out. I’m going to give you a little experiment.

The next time a killer is camping, have the rest of your group go to the hook, the killer will turtle at first, but if he gets a successful hit, HE WILL CHASE THAT SURVIVOR.

If you ease up on the killer, he stops camping.

A lot of people do not realize how unhealthy that level of stress is and how terrible it is to endure.

“But DarkWo1f, I shouldn’t have to do cater to someone.” You’re not, dummy. You know what causes a killer’s stress? The thought of losing to a bunch of T-bagging, taunting, and trash talking survivors.

YOU are intimidating to most killers, it might not be intentionall, but the P3 Claudette you’re playing as also belonged to a toxic survivor with nothing but bad intentions in mind and the brain sees Claudette’s from that moment on, as an unpleasant presence (if you can even manage to see her that is)

and it’s really just not fun to be made fun of. Not letting it get under your skin isn’t the same as anticipating disrespectful and belittling post match chat. It’s instinctive and it kills morale.

Its a borderline panic attack, your hands will shake, your breath will rattle, it’s too much to handle for a lot of people and if survivors would just walk up to and high five the killer, he will chase the next survivor.

I really wish everyone would look from the other person’s point of view. If the camper in question is rapidly looking around, possibly missing some or almost all of his swings, and patrolling an extremely tight area, he is stressed out.

Where as a troll often holds still and waits. Sometimes even just staring at the victim until they die.

There is body language that you can read through camera movement and behavior.

EDIT: Same goes for survivors, if I down them twice before a gen is completed, I leave them to be revived and seek a new target. Stress can also be read through early pallet drops, running around the perimeter of the map, and staying away from everyone else on the team.

The community needs to better itself. And the only way to do this is to reward the kind gestures we are given by the opposing force. It makes a huge difference guys.
  • These two things cannot exist without the other. Fun is fair, fair is competitive.
    Yes they can.
    Minecraft is not competetive....
It can be competitive. There are PVP servers and the idea is to get all the resources for yourself and hide somewhere. It still applies.
