Lot's of variables,Yes certain killers make it very difficult to unhook. But you can rescue if you have coordination, going in one at a time is just silly, going in as a group of 3 with borrowed time and a flashlight etc can help you even the odds.

If they can incentivise killers leaving, like adding a baseline pop after hooking, you do 10% damage to a generator more than "x" meters away from the hook.

But this is completely unrealistic for Solo survivors who cannot communicate with each other. If the hooked survivor doesn't have Kindred, no one is aware that the Killer is facecamping unless they literally go for the unhook.

Also, no one knows what perks the others are running (unless they have had the opportunity to notice).

Facecamping, Hook camping by stealth Killers etc truly exploits the weakness of Solo queue.

Interesting suggestions though. Anything is better than what's going on now.

  • This is my experience too. This whole narrative that camping is just a tactic for inexperienced Killers and low ranks doesn't add up to me. Plenty of Killers in (formerly) red ranks camp ALL. THE. TIME. In fact, I'd wager that's how they got there in the first place.

My friend just coaxed me into trying to play tonight. 4 matches. EVERY Killer camped or proxy camped.

The last was a Ghostface who hooked a survivor at 5 gens, just cloaked behind a rock, and I was just done. I refused to engage. Just let him hook me with no chase and killed myself and logged out. I can't take the frustration anymore. It's almost an exercise in lunacy to pay for things in a "game" that does nothing but irritate players. The Bloodpoints from these matches are absolutely abysmal and it's all just not worth it.

As solo, I still have fun. When I get camped/tunneled hard, then I just join a new match. Since nothing is holding me back. Gen rushing is prevalent. There is no match without it at some point or another.

    Is SWF more fun? Sure!

If you want, you can easily find others to play with, on the official discord server. Give it a try. It might save you some bad experiences.

You know, I just might. I have an intensive job, so I've never known where to look for SWF's. I think my hesitation is because I don't want flashlight clicking, T-bagging d-bags. I try my best, and am competent as a survivor, but I have a life and don't live and breath the game.

But maybe there are more chill, decent people out there. Thanks :)

  • @miketheratguy said:

I stand by what I keep saying. Give the camped survivor some extra BP. "Why should survivors be rewarded for being caught"? Well hooked survivors already get BP for struggling, right? Incentive for trying to stay in the game and compensation for being stuck in a crappy situation? Just add some points to the "sitting there defenseless" phase and have the accompanying text in the corner read "suffering".

Hell, if they wanted to they could even make it a diminishing multiplier situation in which the "suffering" bonus decreases as the match goes on to balance out the fact that people who are camped early get virtually nothing while people who get camped late got to enjoy a full match.

Nothing dramatic, just a little extra BP to make up for the fact that they can't play which still allows for the killer to play however they want. Boom, problem solved.

They really should give the camped survivor a bonus. In Solo queue, every survivor camped just hook suicides or disconnects. I don't blame them. I've started doing it myself in certain circumstances.

Currently there is no incentive for those not in SWF to stick around and let the rest of us do gens.

  • @Tsulan said:

Gen rushing has been increasing since the sbmm dropped. Who would have thought that killers lose the will to play normal, when they lose 3 gens in the first chase?

You've been playing DBD for a long time (hopefully I'm not being too presumptuous). I find in my Solo matches (as someone who was formerly in red ranks), the genrushing thing is not common.

Do you think this a thing created by the advantage of SWF? Since the SBMM dropped, I've experienced camping and tunneling to a ridiculous level nearly every game.

To me at least, more and more it seems like the only people having fun atm are SWF's. Not Solos, not Killers.

I agree, I really don't like to Swf much anymore. Occasionally, we get some old friends together and have some drinks and swf. But for the most part I like the freedom of Solo. Ready up at my own pace, talk to my lady in between, maybe switch and play some killer.

But at the moment, the game in solo is almost unbearable.

My problem is that I only have one friend who plays a province over. I can't convince anyone else to play haha.

  • Since SBMM the camping and tunneling has been off the charts. Yesterday my friend coaxed me into playing a few rounds (we don't communicate, we just team up) and out of 6 matches, 6 campers/tunnelers. Ghostface who just stealthed by the hook. Wraith just cloaked by the hook. Blight? Proxy camping. Spirit, proxy camping and tunneling.

We gave up lol. It's miserable.

  • @Clevite said:

Honestly, it's the same for solos as well. I'm beginning to think the only ones enjoying this are the 4 man swfs with 4 competent players.

It's been so bad playing Solo that I've come to the same conclusion. That if I'm ever to have fun in the game again, I have to find an SWF group.

No he just said "screw this game" and gave up. He had one game where he tunneled but he felt bad lol.

He's playing "My Time at Portia" and seems much happier than all of us lmao.

Okay, just to be clear - it's obviously not nice, BUT 'it's just a game' is the lamest argument ever. Because it's like 'game shouldn't get you angry', but it should give you joy? So it works both ways - if it can make you feel good emotions, it can make you feel bad as well. It can make you happy, it can make you angry. And some people just don't handle their emotions too well ;)

I get what you're saying but in this particular scenario, looking at the screenshots, 3 out of 4 survivors escaped. They all got decent BPs. They all probably +1 'd. So any bad feelings from them is absurdly entitled and unjustified.

every game for 2 days has been a super sweat fest, im not even in gold yet, then i get told i should "uninstall myself" because i lost a video game. if you want to deliberately thrust a bad time on my im going to do the same back.

Some survivors are just gross that way. I play Solo survivor more than Killer because it's BS to try to learn Killers as I'm constantly matched with survivors waaayyy above my rank. I just gave up. The survivors being smug and caustic whether they win or lose is just too much but the only beauty of console is no end game chat, and the ability to turn off messages.

My partner tried Killer for the first time the other day because BHVR promised that with SBMM everyone would face opponents of the same skill level. Well surprise! It's not working and he was stuck through 6 matches against really experienced SWF's.

Going into the seventh match I gave him advice: "Spirit. Lightborn. NOED. Tunnel those jerks down".

And as a Solo survivor I believe camping and tunneling are doing nothing but hindering the game for legions of people. But until BHVR stops rushing to generate new Killers and fixes the glaring problems, things will be miserable for everyone but SWF's. Apparently only they matter.

  • I actually saw you in a match where you were playing Pinhead. I'm like; "Omg! Grampa from the forums with the funny comments". I'm on console though so no end game chat.

to OP: That looks like the type of match I can only hope for playing Solo queue. Looks like everyone got to play, everyone made a decent amount of BPs. Those survivors are ridiculous.

  • What happened? 4 man SWF flashlight squad?

its 1k and if your implying anything but i bought it then your a damn fool

Screw the mortgage, the ill dependents, and the car payments . I have a frivolous personal item to purchase! I want to be cool too.

    Hold my beer.

  • Touching to hear a survivor actually care about their fellow Solo teammates.

When I see a key in the Lobby I just assume they'll screw me over and leave me for dead no matter how much I did for them.

  • @Triadequinaxor said:

Because i know every PC port of a game is a piece of crap, get a pc and get a life long abundance of good games

Some of us are adults and our parents won't buy us an expensive gaming PC

  • For those of us not in the loop (who don't keep up to date on what the plans are), what is this post in reference to? Are moris getting nerfed?

  • I'm a casual Solo survivor and though camping and tunneling was bad before, it's horrendous now. I log in to play a match, watch a Killer not even let a survivor 2 steps from the hook only to down them and rehook them and I log out.

What's the point? Is that even playing the game anymore?

My partner was sick of it so tried playing Killer. He has scarcely played it before, but had a bunch of BPs so leveled up the perks somewhat (no great perk selection, just original Killer perks on Spirit and a few purchased from the Shrine). And he faced survivors who were so obviously above his skill level it was ridiculous. I told him; "Hurrrrrr well apparently SBMM will adjust?".

6 games later and it was the same. A lot of the survivors were obvious 3-4 man SWF's. So I told him to equip Lightborn,NOED, and "start proxy camping and tunneling".

BHVR has got to look at stuff like this. Camping and tunneling make the game miserable for Solo survivors. Yet the existence of SWF's, smurfing, and an overall tolerance to bad manners towards Killers by these teams who think they're hot sh*t exacerbate it.

  • I don't usually D/C, but recently with the SBMM I killed myself on the hook against a Spirit.

3 tunneling Spirits in a row. I always go in with a mindset of playing normally, but when a Killer is scarcely allowing my feet touch the ground after being unhooked, and tunneling through DS, I know I'm not going to get a chance to play the game. High level Spirit players have a reputation for tunneling, and they can take you out of the game so fast. I admit, after 4-5 matches like that one tends to get frustrated and bitter.

I usually hate it when team mates D/C as it screws the rest of us over, but I can understand being absolutely fed up and not wanting to entertain players like that for one more second that you have to.

Not saying OP plays like that or anything. But a LOT of Spirit players do. A lot. Every one is human and this game can get to the most chill of people.

  • For Solo survivor it's just tunneling sweatlords, So I stopped playing 2 days ago.

My partner wanted to try Killer. Literally a former Rank 20, and was matched with survivors that obviously knew the game very very well. Flashlight saves, knew how to loop, body blocking etc. By the fifth match like this my partner got frustrated so I told him to just face a wall and let the survivors escape.

They sought him out, and started trying to blind him and flashbang him just be little arsehats.

Now he will probably never try Killer again.

  • I didn't get anything either. I reached Iridescent 2 "Grade".

It sounds like your issue is with bad randoms and not pinhead himself.

    That's certainly part of it.

I also think BHVR designs Killers leaving Solo queue and console players out of the equation. The Chain hunt is a lot worse for console players due to not having the same level of mobility.

My point still stands though, for all of the reasons pointed out, I find Pinhead tedious and frustrating to face.

I like him, like his design, like the music etc.

  • No, still getting camped and tunneled by formerly Rank 1 Killers.

  • I was looking forward to him, but I have to say, Solo queue against him is a miserable experience. I don't D/C, but I do fight the urge to.

I think Pinhead illustrates just what an advantage SWF has over Solo survivors and Killers alike. It's super frustrating for Solos because for one, it's as if 90% of them are allergic to the puzzle box. i can't rely on anyone to actually solve it before it screws us over. Yesterday (can't stomach playing today), I was the only one doing the box. At one point, 3/4 survivors were injured and the chain hunt was looming near. I run injured to unhook someone. The healthy Quentin who has never been hooked, who is working on the generator closest to the box, doesn't bloody bother to even try to solve it. I had to run injured across the map to get the thing, chain hunt begins- and of course Pinhead teleports to me and I get downed.

I honestly just killed myself on the hook. What is the point in even trying? Then I spectated and surprise! They're immersed in the Chain Hunt and it's chaos.

  • It's awful. I've never had such a miserable experience playing Solo survivor before.

I'm just going to play the game much, much less.

  • In my experience, most survivors don't find it funny. So expect loads of salt, disconnects, people killing themselves on the hook etc.

  • Bill, Jane, Leon and Cheryl always seem to at least try their best.

  • PS4, Same. Game crashed.

Good GOD BHVR, can't you be professional at anything?

Why should you want to play killer if you never get survivors of your rank?

Bro, you necro'd a thread from May.

  • If I didn't get hit by a Huntress hatchet through 2 walls and around a corner, how would I know I'm playing DBD though?

  • It's trash for Solo survivor too. My issue is the constant camping and tunneling. It's nearly every game now.

Solo survivor was always bad, but since Wednesday (Tuesday was pretty good? I don't know wth happened), I can't even hope to play the game as intended. Killers will camp from their first down. When that person disconnects, they camp the next person.

One Pinhead was facecamping so close to the hooked survivor he was body blocking all attempts (and that was at 3 generators). And most of them are supposedly former Rank 1 players. The he sent a message afterwards gloating about ruining the game.

I wonder if the imbalance and advantage of SWF's have been exacerbated by SBMM and Killers are just embittered to the point that they're making every game as miserable as possible. Or else, maybe they were used to getting 4 Kills a game, almost every game, and now that they're being matched with survivors that can handle them and maybe get 1-2 escapes, they're ticked off so just use the scummiest tactics available.

I just don't know but I hope something changes.

  • Oh Lord yes. And I've seen Pinhead to the point where I want to vomit when I hear the gong of the puzzle box when I load in a match.

Most survivors I match with seem to be downright allergic to the box. One time I was the only person doing it until I was injured and out of heals. I'm working on a generator, and I think; "No. Surely one of the healthy survivors will go for the box".

Oh hell no. That would be ridiculous.

I honestly have no idea what's happening to people who say these things. I believe you - I'm not saying that you're lying - I just don't understand why others are having such a different experience. I'm solo survivor as well, sometimes I play with 1 fellow survivor friend, and I've been floating between the copper and gold grades. My opponents have been as well, in fact many of them are ash, and only occasionally do I see an iri who usually isn't especially amazing. With a handful of exceptions everyone's been decent to good, which is where I'm comfortable saying I am also at.

I'm whatever they call the Red grade (iridescent? Idk- I mean supposedly they don't mean anything and yet I'm constantly matched with similar colours. Go figure).

To be clear, I've never had any sort of ego or delusion about my skill level. I just play the game because I liked it and it's somewhat addicting. I'd rate myself as being a competent and dependable team mate. My shortcomings are mostly when it comes to looping. I find it difficult on console to navigate the way I want, so I'd say I'm mediocre that way lol. So it's not that I have any problems facing Killers at my skill level.

My issue is that the camping and tunneling is basically constant. I mean CONSTANT. It gets to the point that I'm shocked when the Killer plays normally. My friend convinced me to try a few matches with her this evening (we don't voice chat, just join together) and it was the exact same thing. Constant face-camping. Tunneling right off the hook, or through borrowed time over and over.

Most of these Killer's are iridescent, or formerly Rank 1-3.

It was honestly better before. I just find it flabbergasting how bad it is.

And I really wanted SBMM to work. But other than Day 1, it's been a nightmare for me.

My post a couple spots above yours shows pretty much the same thing for me, but as Killer. The 8th was nice and seemed fair. But the 9th and 10th have been an absolute debacle, MMR is clearly not adjusting down for me, and I'm not logging in today for a Round 3 of this mess. I honestly don't know when I'll be logging in again. My last break was for nine months.

I hear you. I take breaks now and then, but honestly, the game is unplayable for me in it's current state. I don't spend my free time on a game where I have to endure a bunch of little jerks abusing other players for their own personal amusement. And I know for a fact this behaviour runs both ways (I've seen survivors be absolutely terrible people to Killers).

I feel like this system is rewarding bad manners at this point.

  • @GrayEyes said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2489655#Comment_2489655

Everyone killer camps these days because the killer experience after sbmm is terrible only solo survivors ever thought it was good I play mostly killer like 70% but I do also play survivor and I can safely that most killer games I face sfw and most survivor games people kill themselves on hook or are just straight trolling and hiding in lockers not doing gens

And the sad part is I win most of my games so these are the games I'm getting after winning not after losing after winning

I play Solo queue and with the exception of a few jerks, every survivor was just playing normally. But I know how some survivors in SWF's can get, and I know they're annoying.

But at the same time, My escape rate has gone down since SBMM. This "50/50" escape rate or whatever they advertised is NOT true. They must have collected that info from people who don't play with scumbag tactics. I have no idea how BHVR can collect any useful data on play skills when Killers do nothing but camp and tunnel. That would be completely skewed information.

  • I agree.

Just played 5-6 matches. Every single bloody Killer is camping and tunneling from the first survivor they down. Either I have to give up this game, or I have to find an SWF because that seems to be the only way to have fun now (or so I hear).

  • I had really high hopes and a positive expectation of SBMM. I sincerely wanted to believe the hype, and the pamphlets BHVR released singing it's praises.

But it has truly been nothing but a misery for me as a Solo queue survivor. Never in my wildest dreams did I think things could get worse, but BHVR apparently excels at that.

My first 5-6 matches after SBMM wa implemented seemed pretty balanced and fun. Then something happened and the past two days? It's been hell. Not a single fun or fair game. Every Killer is a Rank 1 (formerly I suppose) and the camping and tunneling is off the charts. I just played 5 matches and gave up. Every single Killer not only camping and tunneling survivors at 5 gens out of the game, they've all had atrociously bad manners. hitting people while they camp them, one left me as the last survivor to bleed out while he just stood there in front me watching for the full 2-4 mins (whatever length it is). I've had messages from a Killer "GG I enjoyed watching you die" (another camper).

Previously I almost never got messages like that.

I don't know what the hell is happening anymore.

  • Same is happening with me in Solo survivor.

Most of my matches are nothing but hardcore (formerly Rank 1) camping/tunneling Nurse, Spirit, Blight- oh and a slugging, facecamping Pinhead for good measure.

I don't get it because I've never been a sweaty player. I'm competent, but I'm not God-tier by any means. Yet after loads of matches apparently this is where I'm placed. It's really a miserable experience. I'm not even going to try today, because idk if I can stomach it.

  • Is it weird that I actually like the Twins (I like their design, I laugh my arse off at little Vic), but they were not just unfun, but a misery to go against. Just down survivor. Place Victor by the hook. Camp, tunnel, slug.

So I'm conflicted. Love to see a hideous baby flying through the air, but the devs designed their power in a way that promotes a play style most people despise. Not sure about how they were nerfed though or how it affected players who main them, but apparently it was detrimental. I barely see the Twins anymore :( .

  • Conversely, I have a game of Stardew Valley going because I find it relaxing before bed LOL.

I don't believe I've ever insulted a Killer and told them to "get good" if I escaped. It's rude, juvenile, and a waste of time.

You seem to...kind of loathe this game though. You sound as if you despise the entire premise, alluding to the idea that 4 v 1 is just unfair for Killers (when you say survivors are allowed to make mistakes but Killers aren't). Killers CAN screw up imo. I've seen Killers make a wrong move, get pallet slammed, lose chase and switch to something new on the spot. They can still do pretty well.

In the end though, if the game bothers you this much, maybe try survivor side? It's true there is much less pressure playing survivor.

Otherwise maybe turn off end game chat?

I felt bad for her too. On her second hook, I made sure I went to get her ( I always equip BT) but unfortunately she was on death hook like 2 mins into the game thanks to Steve.

  • Yeah as soon as schools out, it becomes insufferable

As Survivors, my matches have been rather chaotically impaired. For the first couple of matches, I got competent teammates... then, I'd get people that barely stand on the game, but at least 70% of my matches have been against camping Killers for some ungodly reason.

As Killer, I get rainbows on Survivors, no death squads or anything of the like, but I get very bad Survivors teamed up with great Survivors.

This is what has happened to me too.

First 4-5 matches were decent. Now? "Red" (Iridescent?) rank Killers, CONSTANT camping and tunneling. Constant. I just gave up today because it's so bloody annoying. So much BM, Idk why it's happening.

I'd like to get nice teammates, but I get a lot of newbies even if I have 3.3k+ hours... sometimes with good killers, sometimes with awful killers.

And I can't get killer lobbies if I don't get +10 minutes on ready.

I'm so tilted right now, I don't gonna lie. I was 2 months away and came back for pinhead but can't play with him bc I don't find any lobbies with him and with surv I'm suffering... this is so inconsistent that I want to stop playing again...

No, I retract what I said previously. My first 4-5 matches with SBMM were ok, but it has quickly gone to #########. Like, I have never been so fed up playing this game. Almost every Killer after the first few matches has camped and tunneled. Tunneling Spirit, Blight, Pinhead (because he's new so the campers have to try him) over and over and over. Every Killer has a profile BOASTING about having crappy manners and treating people poorly. Oh, and a higher amount of team mates than usual who work with the Killer against team mates.

I'm like.. near done. I don't know why I play this game, why I give any money to this company when they allow this stuff.

  • Personally I don't miss it

  • Yeah, I don't get it either. My matchmaking has given better quality team mates, which is nice, but at the same time, I can't help but miss striving for something.

Omg thank you so much for your summary. I mean that genuinely.

I often play Solo survivor, and can confirm; team mates ruin the match. Like, do they know about flashlights and crouching?

At the same time, I've experienced too many basement hag campers. Their entire build to get a survivor in the basement, then 700 traps, but they don't actually leave the vicinity.
