I'm a new Killer as well, not a high rank and if a SWF group of friends swarms the hook, make saves in front of my face and buzz around me like hornets I'm not going to feel bad about downing them no matter how much they whine.
I feel like I'm on a crash course of learning to be evil even though I started off playing survivor entirely D: .

You were proven wrong way earlier you just dismissed it over and over. The amount of people being nice to you in the beginning quickly dwindled when you doubled down on your position and were very arrogant about it. ie Thats a fact! Youre just playing bad
Take your lumps
That's just it.
It was the condescending attitude from the very beginning, dismissing anyone else's opinion as them being "bad players", or they're just not as smart as you. That you alone set the standard for what is correct, and the burden of proof is NOT on you, but on legions of people who disagree with you. You dismissed all of their screenshots, videos, personal experiences with a side salad of mocking.
When I was a teenager, I would add ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ to my posts to purposely mock/irritate people I disagreed with. I was 15, and have since grown the hell up. That is the reason you were adding them as well. So you didn't just disagree with people, you weren't looking for a respectful discussion, you came in from the beginning with an air of patronizing superiority which rubbed many people the wrong way.
I'm not normally rude to people on forums at all. It's rare behaviour from me. But gosh, son, maybe reflect a bit on your own behaviour. I'm pretty new to the forums as well, and I was greeted just fine. It has nothing to do with TTV in your name, b/c most of us are reasonable adults and know that you can't treat everyone based on the worst of them. But there's a way to respectfully converse with others even if you truly believe at heart, you are correct and they aren't.
Other than this, if you discuss the game normally in other threads I'll treat you just fine.

I'm glad to hear that =)
I can only imagine her crawling from somewhere...
It's going to be really cool.
Even having her window vault be some creepy contorted crawl lol. Or they could have dark water gush out of gens like they do blood with Freddy.
It's not a licensed Killer, but I think a Jiangshi would work well as a killer too. It's a mythical Chinese creature- like a hopping half vampire, half zombie.
My other idea which would be kind of funny with a high creep potential based on design is Russian Baba Yaga.

Your comment doesn't really add anything to the thread. I was proven wrong because someone did what I asked them to do and provide actual evidence lmao, something you didn't do.
But go off I guess.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Grudge or other Asian popular characters.
I can't wait for more unique Asian killers and a cute survivor to complete that theme.

I like playing Spirit, and I like the Killer, but I'd also like to see something more traditional Asian horror too. Even Sadako from Ringu (as opposed to the American remake where they made Sadako into a cute child for some reason).
I can envision Sadako crawling out of a generator like she does the television lol.

Also, technically were all the centre of the universe lmao, so what you said doesn't entirely add anything to your point, but feel free to try again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Soz, looks like you were proven wrong on this in another thread then. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll bite.
In my experience in game, people with .TTV in their name are more likely to be toxic or selfish/egotistical.
As a Killer, they try to bait you, click flashlights at you over and over, teabag, do anything to get some "good/funny footage" and they don't care about how obnoxious it is or how miserable it can be for others.
Survivor side, they again go out of their way to be fancy, do risky things (like hook saving in front of the Killer)- because again, it's more about what they can get that's interesting for an audience at the expense of team mates.
Of course, this isn't all streamers. But it is a trend many people notice.
As for the forums, well people just disagreed with you on that one thread and you treated everyone like they were delusional, stupid, and your posts drip with patronizing superiority. That usually doesn't go over well regardless of your name suffix.

I haven't said that it's not an issue. It definitely is. But it's a visual one, not a mechanical one. Please read the replies and try again.
So you think losing a Rank through a Killer disconnecting, and remaining at that Rank, which affects who you're matched with in a survivor queue is "just visual" even though it affects game play.
What is it like to be the center of the universe, that your personal experience is so correct, and so absolute that it becomes truth the world over? I'd like to live that way for just one day. But alas, that cursed objectivity keeps screwing me over.
-
I'm a new Killer and at Rank 16, I've been matched quite a bit with SWF groups where 3 are purple rank with maybe one yellow rank. I've only had DBD since beginning of January so I've been wondering if that was normal for the game. Some people have told me it might be about Killer availability. They said there are far less Killers than survivors, so sometimes there are weird match ups.

the visualisation of the pip system is broken, but not the actual mechanics. If you do well you get pips, if you do badly you lose pips, hence why I made the post about how people are trying to exploit the latest update just to rant about.. nothing? I guess? (Which is what my whole post was about).
What is happening to you personally is not the baseline of truth for the entire game. Just because you haven't experienced it, doesn't mean thousands of players are automatically wrong or mistaken.
I've lost 2 pips for a Killer disconnecting. It wasn't "just a visualization bug". It was a literal de-rank. This has been happening since the update, and maybe by the time you studied it they've tried to apply some fixes. I've noticed just in the past day or so that I sometimes pip normally, but at the same time, every third game I de-pip when it says I safety pipped. I still de-pip when a Killer d/c's. I lost 3 ranks the first few days after the update. I was trying to grind my way back up so I don't have to play with potatoes who leave team mates to die on their first hook while they crouch in a corner, but I've opted to just play Killer until said issues are fixed.
We aren't all blind and dumb. We know when we're losing full ranks.
-
Survivor: Steve. Idk why, but always seem to be some hotshot who performs unsafe hook-saves, or wants to dazzle the Killer with his magical looping but ends up sandbagging team mates.
Killer: Nea + Meg. Always with flashlights, likely to teabag and disconnect if you hook them.

Prime directive: Repair Gen. Do not stop repairing gen. Do not even think about stopping repairing gen. Teammate is not gen. Proceed to next gen.
I wondered if I had gotten thrown in with new players who had no idea what the cages are, but nope. A Rank 12 and Rank 8.
Maybe they were SWF together and the rest of us were just meat to them, so they wanted to try to get the last gens done and screw us solo-queue riff-raff. I enjoyed spectating and watching them fail miserably.
-
I was playing survivor today, running Kindred and ran Pyramid Head around the map until he finally caught up to me and put me in that Cage of Atonement which spawned directly beside a Dwight working on a generator. We were far from the Killer.
It would have taken him just a few steps to rescue me, but instead, he finished the gen, ran past me all the way to the other side of the map to work on another generator. He outright ignored me. A Meg in the distance noticed the guy left me there, and tried to run a direct route to grab me before I was at the equivalent to struggle phase, but got caught and was hooked in the basement. Neither of the 2 team mates left even tried to rescueus and we both died on first hook/cage. It was insanity lmao.
Do I expect them to be punished? Nah. I mean they got what they deserved in the end (both hooked pretty fast). You have to wonder what goes through some people's heads lol.

Like I would down someone and an INJURIED survivor would be near like thanks for giving me the opportunity to down more than one survivors
Exactly!
Even when they are rushing the hook, I make a conscious effort to go for the saviour to avoid tunneling. But then the injured unhooked person tries to sabotage the hook..
What am I supposed to do? Of course I slice her. Then I get a d/c.

One time I was slugging because every time I downed someone the rest of the team showed up trying to get a flashlight save or try to make sure I couldn't hook them. One of them got mad and the one that bleed out was like that took forever lol gg.
there are a lot of fascinating people in this game lol.
They give a Killer no choice but to slug and be around the hook. As Spirit, as soon as I hook someone I phase away and can be on the other side of the map pretty quickly. I don't want to hook-camp because I know how annoying that is to survivors.
but FFS, if you all flock to the hook, and never let me leave it, what do you expect? That I will graciously stand back and watch you all save and heal up while blinding me?
-
@Phasmamain said:
Just forget about the fact they are communicating and think about your gameplay. Try to abuse altruism and slug when possible. Spirit is quite strong so once you get better with her it shouldn’t be a problem
I heard that slugging is considered toxic, but I suppose it's necessary in certain scenarios. For example, I often have matches with survivors rushing the hook. I literally can't get away from the hook without them trying to rescue a survivor. Then they try body-blocking me, or sabotaging the hook- and yeah, I've surmised that slugging is the only answer in this case.
But again, you read that "slugging is toxic".
Idk man. I'm trying to play clean but sometimes some things can't be helped.

These are great suggestions. Thanks guys!

Lol you really don’t like the fact that you’re either really bad at the game or you play like a dick. Either way those are the reasons you get hateful messages, if you did nothing wrong you wouldn’t get them
No one, especially new players, deserve toxic, abusive messages. In fact, I'll go the full mile and say no one deserves to be told to "kill themselves" over a damn video game regardless.
If you think otherwise, you're a questionable individual, but I'm sure it's on purpose.

Well you’re doing something wrong cos like I said, I’ve never had any hateful messages on PS4 and my inbox is freely open. You must be really bad at the game or something to get so many.
Ok troll.
-
@Mugombo said:
I play on PS4 and I’ve never once had a hateful message. It’s probably the way you’re playing
No.
I play both Killer and Survivor and I had to turn off messaging on my console. My first afternoon playing Killer I started getting messages post-match telling me "how much I sucked" from survivors who escaped.
On survivor side I got a message filled with insults from another survivor after the game because I didn't save his ass from the hook first. It was a scenario where he and 2 team mates rushed every hook like idiots, never waiting for the Killer to get far enough away for saves and they all ended up hooked or slugged. So there I am, the only one who was doing gens, and I had to decide who to pick up/save first. Who was the most viable?
So post game I got abusive messages from a David I couldn't get to in time (and the Killer was camping him).
You're full of it.
-
D'Cing causes pip loss too. Bear in mind there's a pip/emblem bug atm affecting a lot of survivors where you lose pips for others d/c'ing, or you get a blank Unbroken emblem.
The other day I was playing survivor and lost a full rank because the Killer DC'd, and everytime I safety pipped it would depip me. I think they're working on that though.
Anyways, facecamping is annoying just the same.

I’ve literally seen it in every multiplayer game I’ve ever played. It’s just the way things are, and people won’t change.
I have played many MMO's.
What I have seen on DBD in just a few days is a significant deviation from the norm. Maybe it's different in mainly english speaking games (I'm not a native English speaker) , but don't pretend this is just some kind of regular occurrence. It's not the average, which is why I took note of it.

Not childish advice, its litarly the age rating for this game + everyones always ultra toxic ingame so its not everyones cup of tea.
By your logic, harassment, insults and poor behaviour are just a regular part of the game. That adults are naturally accepting of such conditions, and to find it shocking at first means you're child who can't handle it so gtfo.
Questioning the toxicity is literally the opposite of immaturity. I was surprised by an onslaught of asshattery and sought suggestions on how other people handle it and have since taken their advice and made messaging 'Friends Only". Prior to this, I didn't know that was an option. So I found what I was looking for here, and a lot of the replies really helpful so I'm back to enjoying the game.
-
Omg you all have been so helpful! Thanks so much for all the feedback and advice, I've turned off messaging/put it to friends only on my PS4 already.
Kiatening to all your stories, I can't believe how crazy people can get in this game! I'll certainly take the recommendation to try survivor side too :)

I didn't say it in an offensive way, maybe you get offended too easily,I always press continue instead of dealing with post game chat toxicity.
I wasn't accusing you of anything or offended by you. I meant it that you seem so used to the messages that they don't register with you anymore. So basically my goal would be to become more like that :)

Tbh you're probably gonna get a lot of heck for your killer choice, too, as bad as that sounds.
Turning messages off is the best option to not see them.. but you don't see the good ones either.
Hi!
Why is the killer I chose a problem? I'm curious now lol.
I chose her because everyone says she looks like me haha. That's it.
-
Judging by this I'm concluding this type of behaviour is normal for DBD.
-
@GoobyNugget said:
The best thing thing you could do is just say "gg" and move on, you dont have to even look at the messages
Dbd can be very frustrating even for new players, but the good thing is nothing bad will truely happen.
Just move on
I know that in theory, just on PS4 the messages pop up in your face.
Maybe I can disable them entirely. Thanks
