Did... did you make the screenshot with your phone?

Anyway, nice match. As far as i can see...

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ZNINNH3QIJH9/5mv8vkx.jpg

I must be out of the loop and uncool. If you play on console, is it unfashionable to take a snapshot with your phone because you're too lazy to do it any other way?

Did I touch a nerve there ? Hit the nail on the head ? Context is important. So why is it zoomed in instead of showing the whole picture of the match ? As far as the nea bubba goes... How is someone working with the killer (which is bannable) fixable by BHVR in ANY way ?

Did you hit a nerve? Not really. They're cropped because I'm fairly certain you aren't allowed to post names on the Forums.

But go on. Everyone is against you. Everything is an insidious conspiracy because my screenshots will have some profound effect on...nothing lol. Not everyone is attacking you or trying to ruin your fun. If you read what I wrote, I KNOW sometimes camping, or the appearance of camping (when it might not be) is necessary or perhaps the Killer's only option. I play Killer too. Not as much, as I'm still learning, but more than enough to understand the unique frustrations. As I said, I feel pretty discouraged when I'm matched with SWF's of much higher ranks.

We aren't all gunning for you, bro. It's gonna be ok.

Again. No one says it isn't a problem. But how do you tell when it's neccesary or not ? You can't. It would wreck legit games where it's the turning point for either side. I also like how you zoomed in and cut out gens, people alive, and any context of the situation. Other then what you want us to believe.

Wow lol. The whole idea that you think I'm hiding some crucial information is just ...bizarrely paranoid. I guess the one where the Bubba and Nea are working together must have had some kind of really great reason, eh? Something I'm HIDING.

I don't think there's any point talking to you if it's going to be that ridiculous.

  • Where I'm at, I play Solo survivor, never SWF, and camping ruins every single game. Probably 7/10 of my matches (red ranks). And *no one ever just does the gens and leaves*. The Killer is almost always rewarded for being a scumbag.

The problem comes in that unless someone is running Kindred, as Solos, no one knows the first person is being camped until it's too late, especially with stealth Killers. Usually, when someone is being camped they disconnect from the match, or kill themselves on the hook. So the Killer goes to the next survivor and the scenario repeats; disconnect or hook suicide, which means the game falls apart for the last two survivors and the Killer takes away over 20k BPs at least.

I'm really confused at the people saying it's not a problem or just rolling their eyes when other players talk about this. There certainly either isn't enough incentive to stop this practice, or the penalty (in bloodpoint loss) isn't enough. It's a miserable experience for me and I often just give up and stop playing for the day.

I posted these in another thread yesterday, but just a sample of my games at red ranks:

    campingnever happens.png dbd1forum.png dbd3forum.png dbd2forum.png myfav.png

The Myers just stood there camping the basement.

    • The Ghostface facecamp-teabagged me through the remaining generators.
    • The Wraith literally just beat me on the hook
    • Bubba- no need to say more
    • Bubba and Nea working together to farm me

I don't d/c when I'm camped and will hang onto the bitter end, but most Solos will try to rescue rather than do gens. I think it's because all Solos know how bloody miserable it is to get no Blood points and endure some small d- basement dwelling teenage neckbeard getting off on making another player miserable. If you know anything about DBD, you know hard-camping from the start (not endgame) is considered a scummy tactic. So these jerks choose it fully aware they're ruining someone else's game. I think these days at Red ranks, Killers who unbashedly camp are just farming bloodpoints from Solo matches because w/o the ability to coordinate, it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

But again, most solo survivors in my experience disconnect or hook suicide if they get hooked/camped first. So the Killer gets more downs/kills for those of us that remain. Everyone but Killer de-pips.

All that will happen eventually, is the Solo survivor pool will drop in numbers, maybe like, looking for an SWF group to make the game playable. So more SWF's will form, and as Killer myself, I dislike facing them so it will be discouraging especially for new Killers trying to learn. Someone else on the forums called- it's a negative feedback loop.

Killers often don't like playing against SWF's

Killers camp/tunnel the crap out of Solos

Solos feel they have to join SWF's to have a chance in a match

    SWF population grows

Killers face more SWF's feel discouraged.

  • I'm tickled that so many people here liked Fatal Frame. That was my first taste into survival horror as a kid, and it scared the shite out of me lol. Not to be that guy, but I felt Spirit in DBD was a bit uninspired in comparison, and i was a bit disappointed that they kind of 'used up' the Japanese ghost concept on something so...idk, not creepy. They just made her cute and naked.

There was so much they could have done.

This is the best way to put it. I solo survivor and my experiences are a completely mixed bag. Sometimes I have loads of fun whether I win or lose. Sometimes I have an absolutely miserable time and don't even want to touch the game for the rest of the day because I get matched against several experts in a row, have crummy teammates, and / or get paired up with survivors who are working with the killers which is the most pathetic, rage-inducing ######### this game is capable of.

I wish I could say that I had a consistent way of enjoying this game, but I don't. I just hope for the best.

This is accurate and how I feel too. And jfc I'm getting more survivors working with the Killer these days against the team to farm points. It really is infuriating, especially if you're the last survivor. Other day I had a Bubba and a Nea both hunting me and the other team mates were dead. Last night a Nea and a Claudette farming me and the other Solo survivor with an Oni (we got mori'd at the end, they ran put the gate with 27k BP each). And there's nothing you can do. Can't disconnect because of the penalty.

These people are just toilet film.

On the other hand, (and few and far between), I have fun with decent survivors, or ones that are chill and joke around. I guess that's why I still play. For those rare times I'm not face camped, tunneled, or farmed lol.

  • @DBD78 said:

"I probably have more hours then any of you"

And like any rank 15 survivor is complaining about facecamping 😄 Really get good. In red ranks facecamping more or less is non existent.

I'm still reading through this thread so I can't comment in depth yet, but LOL oh COME ON.

Everyone has been saying "Hurrrrrrrr GIT GUD, red ranks don't camp lulz".

False. I'm camped or teammates (Solo) are camped every other match in red ranks. Freaking laughable to say it doesn't happen, omg lmao.

    My last match:

    dbd1forum.png dbd2.png dbd3forum.png campingnever happens.png

This last one is my favourite vacation shot- a Bubba AND a team mate worked together to hunt me down and farm me for bloodpoints.

*But it NEVER happens at red ranks. Never*

    myfav.png

  • I still use it, but I don't think it's effective enough. In my experience, Killers go after me even more when I use it. At best, it slows the tunnelling down. It would be nice if it had the effect like the idea above where you don't leave scratch marks for a few seconds, or something to help you lose the Killer to give you a shot at getting away.

I agree with the idea that it deactivates once you touch a generator to work on it, but I think it's a bit too much that trying to heal yourself negates it. Maybe once you've completed healing, then sure. But there's been times when stealth Killers just follow me from the hook until I try to heal and then Decisive is gone.

For me, the camping and tunneling at red ranks (as a Solo) has become borderline intolerable. Yesterday I had a match in The Game with a Wraith ( 90% of Wraiths camp/tunnel), and he tunneled me through 4 generators. He chased me through 2, all around the map, and hooked me. Went a few paces from the hook and cloaked to camp (we all know it, that's what they do). As soon as a team mate tried to unhook me, the Wraith uncloaks, ignored the unhooker and went after me exclusively. Borrowed Time only goes so far, and he chased me injured all around the map again. Team mates (a rare instance of decent Solo survivors) did everything to get him off me, but no. He was a scumbag. He hooks me again, and cloak/face camps. 2 team mates come to try to help me out, he runs around them directly for me, I use Decisive Strike- and it just delayed the inevitable.

I went on spectate after I was killed, he pulled the same crap with the next survivor he caught even tho the gens were done at that time. He was a Rank 2 Killer. Of course, I de-pipped because I didn't touch a generator or interact with any other team mate the entire game. So yeah, a miserable experience and Decisive Strike didn't really do much to discourage it. It just gave me a bit of a head start for running lol.

Camping and tunnelling is ruining the game for me personally because it's so bloody pervasive. So I'd love them to develop some perks to truly help counter it.

More killers play the game, means more people buy skins and dlc killers

Survivors can actually play in the evening and don't have to wait 10 minutes for 1 game. Survivors more playing game = there is a higher chance they buy other suvivors and skins.

So it's a win win for the players and the devs. Just Balance the game and everyone has a better day :D

This would just make being Solo survivor impossibly frustrating.

I literally forgot I made this post a while ago and to answer what all of you have said, you see yes I was a little upset over silly things in the game like you said meaning how the survivors at the time were doing things while playing the game. Also sometimes people like too rant over silly things including myself. But anyway at the end of the day I'm sorry again for the confusion and also I really don't care how survivors really play anymore. I mean everything can be consider toxic now and it's crazy. So again sorry about all of this and I didn't think anyone would care about this old post.

Don't give it a second thought. Your post is from Feb 2020 and someone decided to indulge in some thread necromancy for whatever reason.

We know where most totem spawns are and one always runs detectives hunch. Had a killer dc the other night because he had not gotten a kill and depended on his noed. We knew where it was, got it and rescued with bt. Also had ds. He stood no chance. He dc'd. Don't depend on noed with a good team.

Dude I know lol. Not everything is a teachable moment. And as a red rank survivor I see NOED and Devour Hope on lots of Killers these days anyways

  • OH I forgot the most important part of my story on how to deal with toxic survivors- i drink while playing Killer. Not ashamed. I freakin' drink when i play that shite.

  • I'm a red rank survivor (if that means anything lol) but I'm still a fledgling Killer at Rank 15. I'm trying to play it more, but I find I'm often matched with SWF groups far above my rank and I find it just a crappy experience that discourages me from trying Killer more. Was playing this morning ( I have time off due to lockdown), and in one match I was matched with an SWF where two survivors were Rank 4, one was Rank 8, and their final friend was Rank 15 like me. Not really fair at all. The two red rank players of course, had flashlights and egos so large that they'd require their own weather systems. How did I know? The way they throw a pallet then dance around right in front of me. I'm on console, and they were on PC, so can 360 and all that BS. I did however discover the other 2 players were the weaker links, and went after them more often. The Rank 4's did everything they could to bait me on infinite chases- jumping and out of windows constantly, slamming lockers, etc etc. But nah, I kept focusing on gens and eventually killed their 2 friends.

Because I'm a Baby Killer I run NOED. I have to. It's therapeutic with the bullshit matchmaking I have to endure. But i also leveled Blood Warden.

Toxic SWF's are very altruistic. I always catch one with NOED opening the gate. I leave him slugged until the other gate is open- then hook him and bam. Exits are blocked. It ALWAYS catches them by surprise. Always. It's glorious. So the one Yun Jin fancy pants rescues her pal Flashlight Dwight, they hobble off to the open Exit gate, and RUH roh! Can't leave :[ . And I have NOED.

    >:)

Okay yeah that was definitely me then lol

I'm glad you had fun, I usually get insults thrown at me in every after game chat.

    Do you remember which map?

"Slugging being the only thing a killer is good at promotes really unhealthy gameplay."

No, slugging is not unhealthy game play. The hate for slugging is completely irrational. You can do more things on the ground, you have a second chance at life, and there are multiple perk/item counters to slugging as well. There is no rational reason to hate slugging much less is it unhealthy.

This is completely random, and sorry for that, but I think recently played a match with you (I was solo queue). If I'm right and your name here is the same, just saying thanks for one of those few decent matches I've had in days lol.

If not, I'm a crazy old man and disregard

  • @miketheratguy said:

The Wraith is OP now. I hate it. Invisible + super speed + totally silent even when uncloaking = real pain in the ass match.

And yet even with all these buffs, 95% of them still go a few paces from the hook and camp.

Adam looks decent and definitely agree with you about Bill and Felix.

    True. Forgot about Adam.

  • I spit out my water lol'ing at this. That would be disgusting beyond all decency.

  • Do all female characters in games have to be attractive to you? My God, look at the goblin males in this game; Quenton, Ace, Dwight- possibly the only decent looking dude is Felix, and an elderly distinguished Grandpa (because he's my main).

  • @Zixology said:

I think we can agree that there are some that need a bit of a... "facelift" though.

    cough Quentin cough

But his goblin face is part of his charm!

  • I've noticed an increase in hook-camping. Last Saturday the game was borderline unplayable for me as a solo survivor because just about every single Killer was camping the hook or basement, and tunneling the hooked survivor even with Borrowed Time. I'd be throwing myself in front of them to change to me as a target just so those poor players could have some semblance of a game, but nope. It was ridiculous. You'd think a red rank Freddy would be able to play in a less scummy way, but why put an effort into it when you can do easy mode?

I mention the Freddy because after everyone else was dead, and I was the last, he decided to hijack me and carry me around the map, dropping me, picking me back up etc. I didn't struggle and went to get a drink, and went I came back he was still at it being a jerkwad.

As for Decisive Strike, I have to run it all the time and every other second chance perk because camping/tunneling from the start of the game is like, 7/10 matches for me. I just can't wait for the BT change where it will work on the Ghostfaces and Wraiths that hook someone and stealth a few paces away.

I'm not too bothered by the nerf since DS has still saved me in a lot of clutch situations. I think it works fine as it's intended.

Please explain to me your experience with Yui’s? What’s wrong with us?

To be honest, I don't really allocate toxicity to a character ;) . I've seen some nice Yui's. But it's the same scenario as the toxic Nea; the more pimped out their avatar, the more toxic they seem to be.

  • I main Grandpa Bill so I might be biased, but when I play Killer, I don't see a lot of them being toxic. Had no idea a lot of people find Cheryl's bad either.

I think top tier for me is : Steve (always), Nea, Meg, Ace, Yui.

But mostly I can tell level of toxicity based on their skins. You get a Nea wearing super bright colours + dangerhair and you just know it's going to be interesting. Steve is usually toxic regardless of fashion lol.

yeah i know he was, just saying that type of behaviour turns people away. ive never been triggered like i was. i know i should just ignore it but i just wish there was a way (a failsafe) of some sort to be like, ok, that was BS, you arent gunna be punished for it. i know i shouldnt care about pip but i do and will until i get rank 1. im not hell bent on pipping every game, i just dont like that situation where its nearly impossible without a SWF on coms to lose progression.

I'll share my Bubba experience from yesterday which made me take a break from the game for awhile:

I'm playing Solo survivor, which is usually an exercise in masochism anyways lol. Match starts, all 4 survivors spawn in the same place. 3 of them hop on a gen, so off I go to the other side of the map to find a gen of my own. I hear the telltale sound of Bubba's chainsaw and think; "Oh crap, here we go". I don't know why, but in my personal games I find most people who choose to play Bubba are jackasses. So I'm prepared for camping and just hope to safety pip.

The screaming starts. A Yui gets downed and hooked. Then when someone goes for the save, and like clockwork, is downed at the hook (so yep. Camping. What a surprise). A minute later, the third survivor is downed. So I'm left as the only survivor up, one person on their second hook, two slugged, and Bubba just standing there camping. Another BS match.

I creep over and wait, because I know the children who play him like this have zero patience and eventually he picks a second survivor up to hook them. I creep and unhook the one struggling, he drops the survivor he's carrying and runs after her- I run Borrowed Time so he had to chase her. I picked the other two slugged people up. He eventually downs the survivor he's tunneling and death hooks her. He quickly downs another survivor again who disconnects.

So it's just me who has never been hooked, and a Nea who's injured. I opt to just try to get whatever BPs I can out of the match and go back to complete my generator. Suddenly I hear the injured Nea come over with Bubba in tow. But he isn't chasing her. Oh no, he's running beside her. They're BOTH hunting me. So this NEa has decided to work with the Killer to find me. Just GREAT. I creep around, break a totem (for my closet heal), and think; "######### am I going to do now?". I CAN'T d/c, because remember, that would give ME a penalty. I have to endure this crap until the bitter end. So I get annoyed and give it my all. The Nea spots me and points me out to Bubba, and he and the Nea chase me. I manage to actually pallet slam him twice, and keep them going for awhile. He finally gets me and I plan to just kill myself on the hook. But when he hooks me, the Nea starts FARMING me. She unhooks me, and Bubba slams me down again. Nea heals me until I'm up and he slams me down again.

    This happens 3 times.

He hooks me the second time, and Nea unhooks again for point mine. He downs me as he's waiting right there, but picks me up. I use my Decisive which catches them off guard and I manage to make them chase me awhile again ( I have lithe so I got some distance). But eventually they catch up to me again. He downs me, the Nea heals me up and this happenes over and over until I'm almost bled out. THEN he death hooks me.

    And I de-pip for that shite-show. End game stats: I was rank 3, I de-ranked to 4.

The Bubba was Rank 5. So this trashy play-style is obviously rewarding.

The Toxic Nea was Rank 10.

There really has to to be some way for survivors to be able to leave a match w/o a penalty. Because it was really infuriating to be used as a point-farming tool for these two sociopaths. They didn't even give a ######### that I'm actually a person in my living room playing the game. I'm on PS4, and I report them, sure. But I know those Playstation reports go into a big VOID and will never be addressed.

  • @RenTheCat said:

And no survivor should be able to leave the game early and get a win while giving the killer a lose despite them not finishing objectives yet keys, maps and hatches are there.

Git good and learn to evade the hatchet. Killers can't evade the hatch because even if you close it they can open it again with the key.

lol @ "GIT GUD AND AVOID THE ONE-SHOT HATCHET THROWN FROM OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP. YOu SHOULDA KNOWN IT WAS COMING".

You can reverse this thinking onto yourself. "GIT GUD" and sacrifice the survivors before they use the key. I mean they NEED most of the generators done in order for the hatch to even appear. And in the case of a Killer closing the hatch and a survivor opening it again, that scenario is only possible usually when there's one survivor left.

Who cares if one survivor gets the hatch with a key every few games?

  • @RenTheCat said:

I find it funny how they don't nerf keys or instaheals or brand new parts but somehow an extremely rare and expensive addon for the huntress that almost nobody uses and if they do it's because they had to grind A LOT gets nerfed immediatly.

Guess Myers and Clown are next. Shame.

Instaheals? You mean an anti-haemorrhagic syringe? That's not instant, it takes 16 seconds. And they did nerf brand new parts like 2-3 years ago.

Iri Axe -heads were insane. Huntress's hit-box is already the size of a mac-truck, and she can often somehow get you around corners. No Killer should be able to one-shot down from half a map away.

  • As a survivor, I rarely teabag. Certainly not during a match at pallets. The few times I have is when the Killer has been a hardcore camper and tried to tunnel me down. It's sort of saying "Despite your scumbag tactics, I escaped".

As for experiencing teabaggers at the gates when I play Killer, I went ahead and equipped Blood Warden + NOED. I once had a glorious match with a cocky SWF, far outranking me, and they were teabagging at the gate while one of their friends died on the hook. They were pretty shocked when I advanced on them and and oop! can't escape :(. lol

  • @CheyeneKL said:

Or you could just play him the way I saw every single red rank Trickster main play him within the last week- get one down and then continuously hang around or return to the hook to make sure you get to spam your knives on a non moving target for an easy second down. Or tunnel the guy who just got off hook, that seemed to be a common play that worked Really Well 🥴

I think Trickster is cool in concept and design but I really am not enjoying the playstyle people have adopted with him- it works really well in solo queue because people constantly make horrible decisions there and force altruism at stupid times (mostly due to lack of communication, I guess) all while working like snails on vacation when it comes to gens. In my 4 man SWF? He gets maybe one or two kills, if he is good. I've yet to go against a Trickster that doesn't heavy proxy camp hard enough to ALWAYS see someone go for the unhook and make sure he is there for it.

I've only played him a few times and he definitely seems like he has a high learning curve- I suck at FPS games anyways so I wasn't expecting much, but geez some loops are REALLY hard for him to deal with lmao

This made me lol because I have the exact same experience. Every Trickster I face just hard camps and tunnels right off the hook. That's it. Over and over.

  • Killer: I DC'd because I was just trying out Huntress. I'd never played on her before, and at that time I had scarcely played Killer at all. At Rank 18, I was matched with a flashlight army of Meg's SWF group. 3 were purple ranks, one was Rank 16 (so I guess that's how they got matched with me). I had no idea what I was walking into, and as you can imagine, they kept swarming me, blinding me, trying to bait me etc. It was a miserable experience. So yeah, I d/c'd and have never tried Huntress again lol.

Survivor (Solo): I try my best not to DC, but I did it once today. My evening matches went like this:

Camp/Tunnel. Camp/Tunnel. Camp/Tunnel. Camp/Tunnel/Slug. Camp/Tunnel/Mori- by this match, when it was a Huntress with Iri Axe heads, hooks survivor in the basement, stands outside the shack on the hill with axe raised- witnessing the first survivor be taken by surprise when they go for the rescue and get insta-downed...

I gave it a go, but bloody hell, man. I just said F** it and d/c'd. I'm so sick of camping and tunneling lol. I have to find a new game.

  • I'm on console, and this is happening to me *all the time*. Constantly. I throw the pallet, it's down, I'm clearly on the other side of it, and yet the Killer hits me THROUGH the pallet. It's so frustrating.

It's happening to everyone I know.

The killers also barely get any BP and possibly de-pip as well. Killers get BP for chasing and such. If they are killed quickly the Killer gets nothing.

Yeah but to even use a key, survivors must complete X amount of generators. That leaves time for Killers to chase/hook etc. Maybe they won't pip up if survivors escape thru the hatch, but they will *safety pip*. If a survivor is face-camped, he de-pips and gets zilch.

Camping and tunneling doesn't tell me much. There is a different between skillful / called for and min / maxed tunneling or camping that puts the nail in the coffin , punishes alturism and loses 0 map pressure without giving the survivors any headway into their win cons and incorrect Camping and tunneling that loses pressure, lets the survivors proc 3 gens, proc camaraderie or something else cute and get everyone out.

If you are a good survivor you should be able to reliably escape in almost all of your games and pip or double pip pretty much every time, solo or not. There are very few players on either side that can challenge a good player on the other side. All problems can be solved with self improvement until this game becomes like some Esport where everyone is super good but we're nowhere near close to that yet and in the current climate / attitude of DBD we might never get there.

Dude, do you play solo survivor? It's almost impossible to "double pip" if you get nothing in the altruism category. I had a textbook face-camping Bubba today in a match. He hooks the first survivor he encounters, stands in front of them nodding his head. That survivor disconnects.

The NEXt survivor he catches, gets hooked, kills themself on the hook. Same with the third survivor- hook suicide, because I guess no one wants to deal with some BM jerk.

I finished maybe a generator and a half in this- cleansed a totem ( I have Inner Strength), ran from him LOTS and escaped through the hatch.

I safety pipped. That's it. Why? can't rescue people from hooks and get Altruism when they kill themselves.

Sorry, how do I be so amazing a player that I double pip with that? lol seriously, bro.

If the killer is good enough SWF shouldn't really be able to counter them, it just gives you a better shot.

I'm fine with skilled Killers. I'm down to lose to them too. I'm talking almost exclusively about camping/tunneling. I've lost a full rank today because match after match, Killers hard-camped the first hook, and instead of doing gens, survivors I was matched with (Solo queue) kept trying to rescue and got obliterated. Only in SWF can you instruct people to do generators and GTFO.

And I cede that point willingly, that is wasn't the norm. But it was a problem that wasn't going to go away, and in my view would get to exactly where we are now, and sadly... we ain't seen nothing yet! The longer a SWF plays together, the better they get. The longer Solo strangles, the more SWF we get. It is a feedback loop and until it is addressed... well... we both know the score.

    ^This.

Solo survivor has been so bad lately, that I'm either considering giving up entirely (because it's too frustrating) or simply putting together a SWF. It just seems like it's becoming necessary to play SWF to counter the endless camping/######### tactics.

The difference is the Killer is punished for ending the match early. If survivors managed to get hatch at 2 gens they aren’t punished for it.

I don't understand. If a Killer uses one of their ultra-rare add-ons to end the survivor's match in 60 seconds, or if a Killer face-camps a survivor with a key, that survivors gains barely any bloodpoints and de-pips. Is that not 'punished'?

In what way is the Killer punished more than this?

Well, because I'm new I don't know exactly when red rank begins but yeah, given the hours that I play I'm usually between rank 14-20 (my average seems to be about 16). When I first started playing, which was about four weeks ago (almost the exact same day as the All Kill release, whenever that specifically was), I seemed to be consistently matched up against others of roughly equivalent experience. Since then - I honestly don't know what happened, this is before the patch from the other day - I began noticing that no matter my rank, I'm now seeing people as low as 4 on a consistent basis and I THINK I've also encountered a couple of reds. On the 13th I was happy to see that "oh good, I'm with all 20s again". That lasted a couple of hours before it was back to me at 15 or 16 and killers at 10 or less. I read that the matchmaking is based on hours played? That's absurd. If it's true I wonder if it even takes hours PLAYED as opposed to hours queued, hours in the menu, etc., into consideration. I also wonder if it calculates hours played as one side versus the other. Shouldn't the matchmaking of a competitive online game be based on your win/loss record? Maybe total bloodpoints earned? Something other than "this guy got a phone call and left his game running for two hours, he's ready for stronger competition now".

You're correct about the communication issue. I appreciate that my teammates almost always start edging towards trying to unhook me whenever it happens, but there are times when I prefer that they just concentrate on that last genny or two and let me hang for a bit. None of us are mind readers of course, they can't know that I'm willing to "take one for the team", or at least wait a little for them to find a safer moment, but yeah - face tunneling sucks because when you're there, you're usually there for the long haul. Either the killer will NOT go away so the teammates either ignore me completely or waste all their time roaming about trying to wait for him to leave, or they DO distract him and get themselves slugged as I sit and watch us all lose the match even harder. I personally do feel that camping is a valid strategy in that it CAN be countered, but that doesn't mean that the game is any fun for the person being camped. That's like saying that survivors should have endless flashlights who can just stand there and blind the killer the whole game.

Funny that you mentioned The Wraith, the worst face-camping I ever experienced was when I was the last survivor and he found and hooked me. I was at full health so I had nothing to do but just sit there. Apparently the other player had nothing better to do either so instead of running around the map or whatever he just started running circles around me alternating between bashing me with his cudgel and going crazy with his bell. Just a good solid minute of sitting there staring at my television, controller at my side, as some spastic ######### literally ran circles around my helpless ass just beating me and going "GONG! GONG! GONG GONG! GONG"! Same with the entire death animation (which of course I didn't struggle against). "GONG! GONG! GONG! GONG! GONG!"

I get it. You won. Now go graduate high school.

    Yep! LOL

Idk what it is with some people who play Wraiths. That's happened to me too, even in red ranks ( Red rank is 1-4 btw). I had a Wraith in a match who just slugged a survivor, and stood over top of them clanging his stupid bell over and over and over. No one could get near that poor survivor, and so of course, they ended up disconnecting. I don't blame them.

We got all the gens done, but this jerk had NOED, so he one-shotted another poor survivor, and proceeded to clang his bell as they were slugged, long after the other survivors had escaped, until that poor person bled out. He wouldn't even hook them. In that way, he was doing it to goad people to disconnect, as I'm sure he enjoyed the idea they would be the ones punished (the d/c penalty and all that).

trust, there are some very juvenile sociopaths in this game.

    You use common sense.

If the Killer is nowhere to be seen, and the hooked Survivor hasn't been rescued, it isn't super hard to piece together, especially not if it happens as commonly as I am led to believe.

I haven't defended facecamping, tunneling yes, facecamping no. I merely remarked that if Survivors actually did gens and punished the Killer for facecamping, they'd never make it out of Yellow Ranks. But they don't, and that's on the Survivors.

The point is, camping is BALLZ for solo survivors. You can be completely aware to do gens if you observe the Killer is camping. In fact, it's become so common, I just assume they camp on default.

The problem is, as a SOLO, i can't control what other people do. Even if it's 4 survivors vs Killer, that does not nearly make the survivors a team. At best, it's usually every man for himself.

So your saying that face-camping is MY fault because I can't control the actions of the strangers I'm matched with? Can you tell me how I do that?

  • @Dragonshensi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2120415#Comment_2120415

You ever thought maybe they put those add ons in after they spotted the key? Most killers instantly go hard cause a key can end a match quickly. When I spot a key in my lobby I change up my perks and add ons. I didn’t this time cause they found a key in chest. Look where that got me.

My point was that there are loads of ultra-rare add-ons for Killers that can end a survivors match prematurely. Iri-heads are usually a blood bath. Same with Tombstone Myers. You can be totally healthy, never been hooked, and BAM- you're dead, de-pipped, out of the game.

    What's the difference?

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2120401#Comment_2120401

The ONLY reason a facecamping Killer would pip is if Survivors didn't do gens and instead farmed each other off of hooks.

Camping is only viable if Survivors make it viable.

I will ask you as a great defender of the practice, the same thing I ask ALL defenders of face-camping; in SOLO survivor queue, how do you control or coordinate with 3 strangers to "juzt do genzzz"?

Carrier pigeon? Do I hire a psychic to channel me? How does that work? Cuz if you tell me the secret, I'll do it tonight!

    Lol looking forward to it.

I've only got about 400, maybe 500 hours into the game (probably closer to 300 when you take away queues, loading, bloodweb, etc). I'm an okay player but I'm still relatively inexperienced. It took me a minute to learn that face-camping can be countered by players focusing on generators instead of running straight for the save, but I still hate it when I'm the one who's camped. It's really not the most fun "playing" a game by just sitting there on a hook, doing absolutely nothing, slowly and helplessly losing the game through no real fault of your own. There have been times where I just put the controller down or went to the kitchen to look for something to drink. I have better things to do with my life than watch myself not playing a game.

So yeah, the red rank killers I get who play that way ARE a pain in the ass, but I just kind of grumble and shrug and hope for the better in the next match. When I face a red rank who is CLEARLY just an expert at the game, great timing and intuition, perfect combination of perks, etc., it's still not that fun but I at least get to sort of play for couple of minutes.

Either way I wish that there was a better matchmaking system. For all you skilled killers out there, trust me: I don't like being a "potato" (or a slightly more capable version of such) and making your game boring any more than I like being thrown against those of you who have been playing this game twenty times longer than I have.

At Rank 15 (I think that's what you said you were) you absolutely should not be paired with a red rank Killer. That's just ridiculous.

You will always hear people on forums saying "Camping? Just do gennzzzzzz" as the ultimate answer for this chronic problem, but anyone who plays Solo survivor knows it's a bunch of BS. For one thing, in solo queue, you literally cannot communicate or coordinate to the other 3 players to abandon the hooked one being camped. You can't control what they do.

Also, I think most solo survivors have empathy for the person being face-camped. We all know how miserable it is to work all day, come home to play a game for fun, only to spend it with a Wraith, most likely played by a spoiled, basement dwelling teenager, sitting in your face, beating you on the hook for 2 minutes. According to DBD devs/mods/forumers, abandoning all humanity, shrugging off the suffering of the survivor stuck on the hook makes you a great person and a highly skilled gamer. Alas, some of us just get pissed off at these small-d energy scumbags and try to save the person anyways. Even just so they know we get how much it sucks.

If it only happened once in a blue moon, that would be one thing. The fact that it's constant? It starts to get on one's nerves.

  • Disagree.

This weekend as solo survivor, I've had loads of Killers with ultra rare-add ons. Huntress with Iri heads, a Ninja Wraith (again add-ons), Tombstone Myers-

Numerous solo survivors have taken keys in, and the Killer just camps and tunnels them down. Just because it happens every once in a blue moon doesn't mean it's a problem.

  • @miketheratguy said:

I don't mind most red rank killers, in a lot of cases I can tell that they got where they are by being really good. Some are ruthlessly efficient to the point of amazement.

I've only been playing the game for a month though, so I just don't like being put in matches against them at level 15.

Just wait until you spend time in the trenches, grinding your way up, hoping for decent matches, only to find those Killers face-camping in yellow ranks were rewarded and continuing the same method at Rank 2.

  • @Trickstaaaaa said:

I have notice there has been in increase in tunneling after the latest DS nerf.

    THIS.

The DBD forums are incredibly Killer-biased. I mean to the point of lunacy. I took a month and played nothing but Killer, and I can see why people get defensive. In my experience, most of the issues when it comes to being Killer are directly related to SWF. When it came to just a regular solo queue, as Killer, I found things pretty balanced. With SWF? It was a shite-show. So I get that.

HOWEVER, in the last 2-3 weeks, the amount of camping. face-camping and unabashed tunneling I've experienced as a solo survivor in red ranks has been borderline intolerable. It's just constant. When I first started this game, everyone on the forums told me that the camping, and scummy tactics were due to being in low ranks. Lo and behold, now that I'm in red ranks, it's become far worse. It's hell to play Solo survivor. I've found I have to equip every anti-camp/tunneling perk available. Even then, I might be escaping 10% of the time in games.

It's absolute bullshit and I find myself questioning if this is the game for me. The Devs seem to think their players feeling this way is peak success.

  • @Mooks said:

Can you really judge by the end game screen?

ranks should definitely not be taken into account.

4Ks should still be possible. We don’t really know how you got the kills, did the 6K BP survs were just bad or did you tunnel/camp or did they let themselves die on hook?

I think it's safe to say that Rank 16's on average have way WAY less game knowledge and experience than a Rank 1 Killer? My friend is Rank 16-17, is new to DBDand has had this experience with red rank killers today as well. It's really discouraging for him and he just stopped playing because he thought it was dumb.

Not saying Rank is the be all and end all, but it certainly gives some info that Red Ranks are better than brown ranks.

  • Is this what is going on today? I've been trying to get a friend into DBD, but he's a Rank 17 survivor and tonight, has been matched with red rank Killers constantly.

Needless to say, he's done with the game and finds it pointless. Are they testing something?

  • Personally I wouldn't have gone for that heal like you did. You could see Oni was on your tail. He would have either instantly downed the Kate, or you.

No one was on a Death hook. You could have ran and waited until he hooked one and picked up the other while he was busy etc

  • @Orion said:

I mean, I definitely know which killers turn me on...

Oh, you meant something else. My bad, as you were.

In all seriousness, it's not the character, it's the player. The player wants to do something and the character makes it easier to do so. That's all.

    Killers turn you on? lol
