At the risk of generating venom from the forum (lol here it goes...), i HATE Wraiths. 99% of Wraiths I've gone up against camp and tunnel. The recipe is always the same; chase first survivor until he's finally down. Hook survivor. Stand a few metres from the hook and cloak. Wait for rescue, grab rescuer. Rinse, repeat. If they don't manage to grab the rescuer, they will down the newly unhooked survivor again and throw them back on the hook.
I run Kindred a lot and I just sit on a gen and watch their aura circling the hook, cloaking and uncloaking. If ONLY I got the hit and run tactics.

I like chases. They are very fun. My fun resides in making the smart play and outplaying the other players in any way I can(doesn't have to be moonwalking during a chase to catch them off guard). In this case it was smart of me to go back after checking 4 gens and finding no one. And it was about 40 seconds after I downed them. It was smart to make sure Jake went to struggle. And it was smart to not take the chase with Nea. Knowing that's telling me someone is close by for the unhook and heal. So it's fun for me to know I have 3 people occupied and I'm playing the situation well.
Just for discussion sake though, isn't it a no brainer that 2-3 survivors will be occupied if a Killer camps the hook? That's the whole reason so many Killers camp in the first place. Survivors often are altruistic, and try to make the save. Then it snowballs. The only other scenario is if they all ignored the hook and did generators. Which is what most people declare is the answer to camping.
Like, we all KNOW someone will try to make a save. That's one of the main objectives. In this way, it just seems like you're using Camping as the strategy.

Oh wow y'all must have played well, I very rarely don't 4k with Twins, usually at 4 or 5 gens as well.
I think I was just lucky. It was Solo queue and you know what a gamble that is lol.

I like you. You make me laugh. If i see you in game i won't kill you on purpose.
Can you just imagine little Victor running across a cornfield, flying through the air and face-hugging a survivor dressed as a little lobster? Tell me that wouldn't inspire more people to buy the Twins.
And thanks. As a casual player, I'm always looking to be spared.

It would be great if BHVR created some funnier cosmetics for Killers.
- Bumblebee outfit for Hag, or Las Vegas showgirl
- Disco Doctor. He can look like Elton John circa 1970's.
- Adult Baby Trapper
- Charlotte can be dressed like a chef, and Victor running around in a little Lobster costume.
The possibilities are endless.

I literally went away for 40 seconds. Checked 4 gens and even bonked one. I seen nothing in 40 seconds. So of course I headed back to the hook. They let the Jake struggle for so long. It was worth forcing him to struggle phase. Their behaviour dictated what happened next 🤷
You're free to play however you like lol. Different people, different interpretations. Hell, maybe I should try that more when I play Killer. I suck at it still. And as I said earlier, the times I've been "nice" and ran into a freshly unhooked survivor and gave them a chance to keep playing, they teabag me at the exit. And I think; "Never again".

Survivor unhooks lately have just been horrible. These goofballs love to unhook right in front of me and give me lots of free hits. After a few seconds wait of course.
This is true. I play Solo queue and I can't believe how many randoms unhook directly in front of the Killer. At most, they wait until the Killer is a few paces from the hook. It's annoying. I usually run BT, but I still assess the situation to give the hooked survivor the best shot to get away. But this one guy today wasn't running BT and would race to every hook immediately to grab the save. Even if he knew I was heading over to do it. I would be waiting until the Killer left the immediate area and see this Steve zipping by me.
As @HaunterofShadows said, it might have to do with Rift challenges.

Okay, it takes 10-20 seconds to get to the person. They knew he went down at 5:00. So let's be generous and say it takes them 40 seconds to get there. They still would have gotten the unhook before Trickster got back. I don't accept you're "it's trickster so they have to walk" argument. Unhooking someone brings some inherent danger. If people want to slowly mosey their way over to the hook, that's on them.
I don't know why you think I take offense to your posts. I just don't like when people get hook defense and camping confused. Camping is the killer wasting their time sitting by the hook. Hook defense is when the survivors make decisions to make leaving the hook a bad idea.
You also never answered my question. You want the killer to run off when he has 3 survivors occupied, a bad decision that would make them less likely to win. You implied that they don't consider other players when they play this way. So what do you do? What do you do to help the killer out? What do you do to erase their mistakes? Give them second chances? That's what you're asking for here. You want the killer to intentionally misplay when the survivors play too passively.
You are the equivalent of the killers who complain that survivors holding down m1 is "gen-rushing".
A lot of it was obvious camping. Not all of it, but a great deal of it. The Nea tried to save the Jake. He chased Nea twice but not far and returned to the hook. He said it himself, that he expected and exchange on the hook. He expected to hook the saviour. It was part of his plan. I think most people understand this type of play against sweaty SWF's who are being ridiculous, or if gens are flying by and there's only one left. But at 4 generators,no one should be surprised if people call the Killer a camper.
Play however you want to play. I still think it's unreasonable to expect Solo survivors to instantly organize the moment someone is downed and do an unhook in a tiny 10 second window, or else it's camp city. But again-whatever floats your boat.
What do I do for a Killer? I don't play like a scumbag. I don't teabag, I don't click a flashlight, I don't body block, I don't act like a little moron. If I'm at the gate and it seems whatever survivors left are getting out? I leave immediately instead of hanging around, or being one of those jerks who wait for the Killer to blind him one last time. I've often sent messages to Killers even when I die and tell them thanks for the good game (if it was fun). I know all the above actions are irritating (having been on the receiving end). And most people who play also know that camping/tunnel annoys people because a quick Google will show tons of threads and posts all over the internet about it. I think we have at least 2 going on the forums any given day.
We just disagree. I'm fine with that.

What choice did they have? Not much. When they decided to ignore their teammate on hook until they're near second stage, they eliminated most of their options. That doesn't seem like the killers fault to me.
You say you consider other players, what exactly are you doing to intentionally handicap yourself to help the killer?
Ok I watched this again. He hangs Jake at about 5:12. Walks over to the nearest locker and grabs knives. He isn't really out of the vicinity until maybe 5:25 or so- but just to do a short loop around the building. By 5:48 he's already back at the hook (the base of the mound). Jake isn't anywhere near struggle yet. The idea that his teammates "ignored him", sorry I'm not buying it. It's normal that people are working on gens across the map. It can take 10-20 secs to RUN to another part of it. Since Trickster has a wide terror radius (I'm talking the treble of the music), most likely, survivors would walk so as not to leave scratchmarks, and to not run smack into him. This adds time on.
So again, at 5:48 he's back at the hook, and goes up it to stand right beside it. He commences to circle the hill tightly occasionally. Jake goes into second phase (struggle) around 6:17. That means he was right by the hook for 30 seconds BEFORE Jake hit struggle. Then he gets tired of waiting by the hook and jumps down, to see Nea running away.
I'm figuring, Nea had probably been there behind the wall looking for an opening for quite some time. Maybe even that full 30 seconds. But he never left the hook. Nea probably was never out of his terror radius. He chases the Nea, but leaves her to go RIGHT back to the hook. She probably jumped windows to make noise- anything to get him away. But no, he goes back up and stands directly beside Jake, knives raised.
Nea tries AGAIN to bait him away from the hook. Yun Jin is standing by. But once again, he refuses to leave the hook and we all saw the calamity that befell the survivors. He even tunnels Jake down. He hangs Yun Jin, goes get knives, hits only the generators closest to the hook (where he can immediately drop down when he gets the alert), goes back to the hook and stands there with his knives raised.
It's unrealistic to blame the team mates in this particular scenario, and doubtful they were ignoring Jake. If I were in that match, I might be tempted to just do generators and try to get out (optimal camping strategy for survivors). Yun Jin just killed herself probably because it was BS for her.
He posted sounding incredulous that the survivors labeled him a Camper. Alas, he was classic Camping lol (I mean, again, to each their own, but that's what it is).
I'm not sure why you're taking such offense to my posts. Everything can be observed in the video. Or else, maybe you can tell me what you think they should have done? Asking genuinely.

Camping is a neccessary part of the game. Sucks, I know, but it's very necessary and every killer has to do it when they need to.
It's necessary at times, and when Killer is down to one gen, or other pressure scenarios- hell, especially against obnoxious survivors, I completely understand. I find playing Killer to be stressful, and I usually go out of my way not to camp/tunnel when I know very well camping/tunneling would get more results.
There's been times I could down a survivor fresh off the hook (I run Nurse's, so alwaysthe Claudette behind a rock healing by the hook). I usually just.. don't because I know how frustrating it is to spend the entire game hooked.
Of course, that Claudette I spared is usually the one that hangs around to teabag me at the gate...
I just think it's lame at 4-5 generators.

Read my post right above this for the answer to why I camped the Jake for phase 2. It's just the smart play at that point. I did camp the yin-jin. But honostly at that point. We all knew the match was over. So I'm trying to end it effeciently as possible at that point. By either making them die on hook. Or trading 1 for 1s. I'm not saying someone might not get upset at that. But honostly. I'm just trying to get us all in a new game at that point
Ok? By your own words, you planned to camp Jake until he hit struggle phase. And since you were sticking so close to the hook, of course another survivor would bait you into a chase to get you away from it long enough to save the hooked team mate. What choice did they have? You just stated you didn't want to let that happen. You expect to stay by the hook, and down any attempts at a rescue- you don't want to go off hunting and chasing, you expect an exchange; hooked survivor for saviour. Then you admit you camped the Yun Jin.
Ergo, they accused of camping (as you said). And yes, you did camp. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I mean, play how you like, but it would have been a pretty unfun match as a survivor imo. You said you camped Yun Jin "because the match was over so you wanted to end it quickly". Well, even if you would have won the match eventually anyways (probably, 4 gens were up), is it really so terrible that the 3 leftover survivors might have earned a few bloodpoints through normal gameplay so they didn't have to depip?
I know I'm in the minority of people who consider other players, I just can't help myself. It's a character flaw.

People will call you a camper. If you don't let them get unhooked safely. Get in your face to body block with BT AND not follow them after. Even though they cost you time and a hit on someone else.
I had a group call me a camper the other day. And to their credit I did at certain points. But I also went away from the hook for a full minute before I ventured back. In one of the scenarios they were calling me a camper for.
It was this match. And most hooks I went away from. But I camped them all according to the survivors 😂
To be fair, you were pretty campy in the middle there ( I didn't watch all through to the end). You basically camped the Jake at 4 generators. He went to struggle, and you prevented anyone getting near the hook to rescue. When Yun-Jin tried the minute someone distracted you, you downed her AND the freshly unhooked Jake. Then you camped the Yun-Jin, (you went around the corner momentarily) and the Nea basically thought; "Well screw it, I don't care anymore I'll try". She had no choice really because you wouldn't really leave the small area. Going up the stairs a bit, or hitting a nearby generator and going right back is still campy. You never went to patrol any other gens. You never left that area of the map. Just waited for a rescue attempt.
The Yun-Jin suicided on the hook probably because there was no chance she would be rescued.

Yesterday I played a match (Solo queue) against a Bubba and the first survivor downed disconnected immediately. Second team mate killed themselves on the hook before I could get there.
Third team mate gets caught and hooked in the basement. 3 gens left.
The Bubba STILL camped the basement. You would think he'd know that with 2 of us left, we had very little chance of escaping. But instead of letting everyone, including himself get more BPs, he stood there on the basement stairs.

Huntress couldn't capitalize on an instadown unless the savior doesn't have BT.
Other than that, it's cheap, yeah

But 24m is huge lol. You can certainly get to the nearest pallet/window/etc.
So... Huntress stands on a hill, hatchet raised, 24m away and bam. Deathslinger stands just far enough, and aims, waiting for the unhook.
Spirit goes just far away enough, waits, and zips back in an instant. Same with Wraith, but oh yeah. I'm sure the freshly unhooked, injured survivor just has to GIT GUD™ , amirite?

It's common. I'm straight and have been attacked by gay players because I'm using the charm etc. Apparently I dont have the right...
Nowadays it seems people always want a way to either play a victim or be seen as better... I dont get why everyone cant just get on and enjoy a game regardless of real life genders, sexuality, race etc. Main reason I didn't support the idea, not because I dont support those people as I do but the issues that come with it seem alot and unneeded. People want to be proud I get it, but you can be proud without making it all about that and that's what some players are now doing as well as those targeting those players. Both are few but it all adds up in the end.
Dude, I'm gay, and feel free to wear the charm. The rainbow isn't gay property and no one has the right to dictate how you dress your lil' character.
But don't mistake a small handful of Woke SJW's of being any kind of authority. It sucks for the rest of us, but there is an extremist, vocal minority around these issues. Usually, they have never experienced any real oppression their whole lives, yet they feel the need to police everyone else. I immigrated from Russia. It's not good to be gay there, and yet I'm far more chill than some of the little militant twats here in Canada who grew up with wealthy, supportive parents in a gloriously free country.
Wear whatever you want. I think it's great if you like to signal you're cool with human differences. Don't worry about people who live for the Oppression Olympics.

I'm just gonna kill them and let the chips fall where they fall.
You have a healthy mind set.
The other day I was facing a Trickster at Haddonhell (solo queue) and he kept slugging the second last survivor. I kept picking her up (safely), and he'd keep finding her and downing her again. Just REFUSED to hook her. God knows how long that went on for, but she eventually bled out and I got the hatch anyways (sheer luck that I found a purple key way earlier in a chest). Some of the people on this forum are just willfully ridiculous lol. Everyone knows there are facecampers out there who do it specifically to ruin the match for the survivors.
Just last night I was playing with my friend (we don't communicate, just add one another), I'm Rank 3, my friend is Rank 8- we have lives and are casual players, and my friend is the first to get caught and hooked. I mean it happens. The whole game is designed around the Killer being able to eventually catch survivors and hook them. It's a thing.
Killer was a hillbilly that commenced facecamping at 5 generators. Literally just stood there, looking around and waiting. My friend runs Kindred and it was absurd. So the rest of us did generators until my friend died on the hook. Then the Billy eventually gets another survivor, proceeds to facecamp again. The remaining two of us finish the gens and escape.
EVERYONE de-pipped. In red ranks, you do not safety pip for maxing out objectives and doing nothing else. Killer (Rank 5) ended up with 6k BP.
In the post match stats, Killer's name was quite literally " BringMeYourSalt". So he was obviously doing this on purpose, knowing it would be a miserable experience for everyone. I thinks it's dumb that we all de-pipped for that match, and I appreciate the two survivors hanging in there so two of us could get out. Usually in Solo queue they would simply hook suicide/ dc. But there should be something in place that grants BP for that.

This.
The drama. Oh the drama. People are falling over themselves. And that's what I mean about it all be very tedious...but at the same time oddly amusing.
I'm gay myself, and I find it weird that such an insignificant speck ( a tiny rainbow charm in an online game where you run for your life or slaughter people) would bother anybody. I actually think the majority couldn't care less about the Pride charm itself. It's the hullabaloo and performative virtue signaling for this type of thing that creates the drama or rubs people the wrong way.
Glad it makes some people happy to have the charm though. I still want Demogorgon in a giant pink wig, a coconut bra and a floral sarong or I won't feel represented >:[
-
I can't believe a dinky rainbow charm needs a zillion threads dedicated it and so much drama.
-
If they wanted to do something for Pride month, I'd have preferred some Drag skins for the Killers.
I want to be on a generator, only to look over the horizon and witness Demogorgon in a gigantic pink wig, a coconut bra + a floral sarong with a matching beach bag.
I want Clown in Liz Taylor drag, from her 'thicc' phase, with a shimmery emerald chiffon mumu dress, over-sized necklaces and sparkly drop earrings.
Wraith with a platinum blonde beehive, Audrey Hepburn sunglasses, a fabulous lavender feather boa over top of a Hollywood starlet evening gown.
Trickster can..... actually nvm, he's already got it nailed.
THEN I will feel represented. A tiny charm? Pffft.
-
It's the worst with Huntress. I got hit with a hatchet quite literally after I hopped a window and ran around a corner (again). Even that Huntress paused for a moment because she thought the chase would go on but I was downed.
-
Had a match that just had me laughing. I don't know why, but Demogorgon players are some of the most chill, most fun Killers. I was in Hawkin's Lab and I'm just a casual player (Solo queue). I spawned on the second floor, and due to my extensive gaming history, I always feel the urge to 'loot' the chests. So I go into that locker room and start opening one when I hear a chase heading my way, an Ash runs him right into my lap and I just stare at Demo, he stares at me, I crouch my head in shame at my uncontrollable desire to take things that don't belong to me- he looks away, looks back at me, and walks off LOL.
So as the game progresses,we play normally and I was the last survivor. He shuts the hatch, and I see him down the hall, and I just crouch in shame again, inching my way ever so close to the door- he ended up letting me go, but me and my partner were laughing at it. It was just a fun match and honestly makes the game worthwhile for me.
I <3 Demos.
-
Sme survivors have lives, kids, mortgage payments, jobs, other things to do and play games casually to unwind rather than sweat about how super ah-mazing they can become lol. Guess they should just stop playing!
-
I like them because I can't help but burst out laughing when I hear Victor sailing through the air on the map like a demon baby lol.
It's true that most people using them go the camp/tunnel/slug root to victory. I think they were designed that way unfortunately.
-
For me, it's Pig. I just find it so tedious to run around and try to get a trap off my head. Whenever I see the Killer is a pig I just groan lol
-
There are so many great comments here to this thread, I'm pleasantly surprised. i can't respond to them all individually, but just want to thank everyone very much for taking the time to post. I've read them all and a lot of helpful stuff.

The best thing to learn Killer is to blame SWF for your losses, clearly. If you start early enough with that, you will 100% improve and will reach Red Ranks in a few weeks.
No, seriously, it is just practice. Playing Killer is not Rocket Science, it is pretty easy actually. Survivor is easier (but IMO Solo Survivor has more potential to be miserable), but its not like Killer is hard. You should focus on what you can improve and not think about the fact that SWFs have an advantage over Solo players, because this is nothing which will change. MAYBE in the distant future, but I doubt it.
When it comes to BMing, just ignore it, really. There is not really any point in being upset about that, those are some Kids who dont know better. BMing also does not affect your gameplay at all, so you can still improve when they teabag or do whatever what (and from my experience, those Survivors who really try to "bully" Killers are mostly not even good - they want to be like their favorite Youtube, but skip the step of being actually good at the game. Just today when playing Clown I had a Nea who teabagged me after a Pallet stun, just to dead hard into a wall 10 seconds afterwards...).
I'm not actually blaming SWF for my losses, but I think it's quite fair to say they have a decent advantage when they're communicating that Solo survivors don't have, and they can pump generators out incredibly fast. When I've downed someone, they can instantly coordinate to sabotage the hook, or body block etc. When you're a new Killer and face an SWF where 3 of them are red/purple ranks and only one is your rank, it can feel rather unfair and you scarcely stand a chance to do ok.
I don't play SWF personally (well with one friend on occasion but we don't communicate at all), only solo, and I agree with you that it can be a miserable experience lol. That's why I've moved on to try playing Killer.
As I stated, I don't expect 4k per match. But it would be nice to at least feel I gave them some kind of challenge, and regardless of how cavalier anyone is, I'm sure no one appreciates post-match mocking messages.
-
@ProfGameAndTalk Starstruck is actually a good idea, thanks! I've been wondering about trying new perks. I've become so frustrated that I'm even trying to get Franklin's Demise just b/c it might be therapeutic for me to see them all drop their flashlghts and tool kits.
@twocansofbean Atm, I'm playing Killers that I just kind of liked both in design and power. Maybe I should try Wraith. Thanks a lot for your comment. I'll check out your guide.

The rank 16 was probably because the last rank reset got pretty randomised. Some rank 1 survivors didn't reset at all, some went to green or brown ranks
I heard about that and I was wondering about it.
If that was the case, then it's just doubly gross that they felt the need to have such BM towards a Killer they knew was far below their rank. Idk, I'm an adult but sometimes I feel like DBD is filled with spoiled, 15 year old basement dwellers.

so what's ur point here? U got blinded by right angle and that's it move on
I asked a question about flashlights in the OP and many people replied. I learned a few things! That's what the general discussion forum is for.

Having a survivor teabagging me at the exit- that moment they realize I have Blood Warden. It's delicious.

Reading some of the replies to this thread just illustrates the problem in the DBD community. FFS, obviously OP felt incredibly frustrated tonight playing the game because Killers were acting like jackasses. Anyone who has played Solo survivor has felt this, and the responses here just dripping with aggression/vitriol are ridiculously unnecessary.
Personally I've had a shite time too this evening playing Killer, to the point that I gave up after 3 matches and walked away (I'm trying to learn how to get better at Killer but I'm constantly matched with red rank SWF flashlight squads when I'm only Rank 13. I just gave up on being matched fairly for today). It happens to all of us regardless of which side we favour. This game can be irritating as hell, and there are d*ckhead players both Killer and survivor alike.
I'm sorry you had such a crap time of it today OP. I've had days where a Killer decides to carry me around endgame, pretend to give me the hatch only to close it in my face- refuse to hook me etc. I've also experienced a Killer slugging everyone at 4 gens and refusing to hook anyone at all. Just left all 4 to bleed out. It's BS.

This isn't psychically possible it was either lag or u saw it wrongly also in order to get blind u just have to get the spot u don't need to be in front of killer literally u can do it by side too but from behind it's impossible lol maybe it was just a lag or who knows maybe new bug
- For the love of God, man. Punctuation isn't your enemy, I promise.
"It's impossible to get blinded from behind"- if you read the thread, I said behind or back and right of me (inbetween behind me and the side). It's obvious from this thread that loads of us have experienced being blinded in ways that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. If I'm gonna be blinded by a beam of light, it should at least make sense and obey the laws of reality.

there's the eternal question.
"how come whenever i try to blind the killer it doesn't work, but then survivors can blind me from the back of my head?"
i don't know, dude. i just don't know. i've looked up tutorials on flashlight blinding and how to do it and it still eludes me. i just need to accept my status as a map and medkit guy.
Haha same.
