So you got, and I quote: "a few matches" and now that is your resume? Rather thin on the evidence.

    Obvious Troll is obvious.

What the hell is the matter with you? This happens to everyone who plays Solo Q at one time or another. Grow up.

  • I've been through this entire thread now, and this forum is really something else. The wilful obfuscation of this poor dude's crap experience, the hair-splitting, nit-picking, some people insulting the poor guy, even blaming him ffs.

The point of this post is obviously to outline the ridiculously poor behaviour of a Killer who was purposely griefing the game for two random Solo Q players for his own juvenile laughs. OP might not speak english as a first language (correct me if I'm wrong) and it can be challenging to thoroughly explain a scenario if one isn't fluent.

Like who bloody cares if it was technically "holding the game hostage"? It was reportable.

I'm sorry for your experience, OP. There are some immature people playing Killer in DBD, and at times I surmise they think they're Larping as Ghostface (or w/e Killer) instead of gaming. They selfishly think 4 strangers are there for their amusement alone, and it sucks.

INB4: Yeah yeah survivors bad too. But this particular thread isn't about that.

  • Inner Strength. I love me my 8 second locker heal. I swap it out for a meta perk if I have a med kit, but I always like having a way to heal since in Solo Q there is no depending on other survivors for it lol

  • If a Solo survivor is being facecamped and tunneled from the beginning of the game I don't blame them for disconnecting.

  • Expectations: 0.

Yeah, I'm used to Wraith body blocking a lot too while cloaked lol

One of the streamers I watched before calls Jane "loose booty" and I can't forget that either lmao

I call Jane "Big Booty" because I heard it watching Ohmwrecker lol.

  • Demogorgon = Stompers McHissypants

Wraith = Mr Campy (I've almost never had a match with a Wraith who doesn't just cloak'n camp)

Trickster = The gay vampire ( It's not an insult, I'm gay myself. please mods don't memory hole me for wrong think)

Huntress = The Russian (I'm Russian. She is literally Russian. Please don't memory hole my post)

    Bill = Grampa

Quentin = Gollum (heard it on streams, can't shake it now)

  • This happened to me for the first time ever 2 days ago. It did allow me to get the hatch I have to say. I was right near it, and the Killer was Blight who could easily rush over and slam in the amount of time the sacrifice animation took.

It happens so rarely that I don't see why it's a big deal. The D/Cing survivor gets no BPs, gets a D/C penalty. And the Killer moves on to probably 50 regular games before something like that happens again.

I play Solo Q tho, so maybe SWF does it more.

  • As someone who plays Solo queue (only one of my friends play DBD sometimes), I've found there is no option but to run the same perks all the friggin time. I have to have BT, Decisive, Iron Will because the amount of camping and tunneling is horrendous and constant. My 4th perk slot I use for an exhaustion perk.

I'd love to try different perk combos, maybe have some fun with them, but w/o the above I'll just get tunneled out of the game so what's the point? lol

  • I'd trade it being deactivated at the Exit gate to NOT deactivating if I go to heal myself in a corner and the Killer catches up

  • I always cleanse totems. I'm so sick of DH and NOED that if I see one, I get rid of it lol.

I hate it though when team mates don't bother to look for DH or NOED. Locating the totem is my #1 priority when those pop.

  • I rarely meet a Hag that doesn't hard camp. So that type of thing is especially grating for Solo queue survivors, as there's no way to coordinate around it like the advantages SWF's have.

That being said, I just can't hate the Hag. For some reason watching her run around, the noises she makes when being pallet stunned just make me lol. I just love her design LOL.

I had taken this one Hag on quite a chase. She probably was after me through 2-3 gens. When she finally hung me, she put about 6 traps all around the hook, and still stayed really close patrolling (she just wanted me dead). All i could think about as I dangled, was how happy it would make me if they gave her a BEE costume cosmetic. Just imagine her with a yellow and black tail, a stinger, and two fluffy black pom-poms for antannae. She could have little wingalings too.

Why don't they get more creative with this #########? BHVR please hire me I have outfit ideas for daaayyyyyz.

Watch the date of the OP, at that point Quentin wasn’t even confirmed to get a rework.

Oh ffs I didn't realize this was thread necro'd lol.

  • Quentin's face got a rework.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyMSyWSZ5XQ

David, Tapp, Adam, Ace just look like refined versions of the old face

Dwight, Meg, Claudette look refined but a bit better. Features are evened out, eyes less buggy, jaws better aligned.

Nea they just seemed to take the character out of her and make her generic cute girl.

Quentin, Laurie and Jake HUGE step forward. They all look so much better.

Feng and Kate, though they look a lot more refined as well, they did not managed to keep their faces true to form. Feng's lower face is off. Before her face was more rounded with a softer jaw, and now her mandible is too far forward. Her lips have been thinned out tremendously, and her mouth is not only too wide but too far down from her nose. In that way, they gave her more masculine features and sucked the fat out of her cheeks giving her a harder look. Though her hair looks much more detailed, better colours, they got the shape wrong. I think people liked the volume at the crown of her head. Now it's like slicked and going out like a triangle, making the top of her head too small instead of a classic bob.

In the below pic of Feng, if you gave her a haircut like Dwight, I'd have a difficult time knowing if she was male or female (aside from the neck down lol).

    feng.jpg

Kate, though I'm glad they too the shell-shocked look out of her eye, they somehow managed to make her look like a really angry chipmunk.

    JUST MUH OPINIONZ.

    • Working on a generator, and Mike's Tier 3 kicks in, followed by that noise that someone is insta-dead (Judith's tombstone).
    • Devour Hope popping
    • When a high mobility Killer finds the hatch and closes it within 3 seconds of hooking the second last survivor. It's like a universal law in Solo queue that the second last survivor WILL be downed directly on the hatch. Or that the hatch will appear steps from the hook.
  • Yesterday I was fairly certain i experienced a cheater playing Huntress. When she hooked the first person I was standing on the roof of Thompson house beside an opening (so I could angle the camera to see where she was heading). She turned and threw a hatchet at me. So I assumed she must have had BBQ and noted it for the next hook.

So next time someone got hooked ( it was all quick succession- she was downing everyone one after the other), I saw a Bill crouched close enough that he wouldnt show up on BBQ. There was no way she could have seen him. Yet she went right around to his exact location.

After I was hooked, I ran across the map, and walked a pretty great distance to the shack. She downed someone else and I was in the basement (was gonna look for a med kit). I go inside a locker for a good 10 seconds. More than enough time to wait out BBQ. I go and check the chest out. This Huntress ran from the other side of the map, into the basement and downed me. I wasn't healing, so it couldn't have been Nurse's. I was flabbergasted.

    She hooks me and leaves.

At this point I'm incredibly suspicious. No gens are done. Everyone has been hooked twice. And for shits and giggles I decide to test this out. I purposely HIDE. I skulk around because at this point she's just death hooking people. No one has touched a generator. It's a wash. I'm the second last person alive, and Huntress comes into the Thompson house (I was leaving no scratch marks. No blood), and goes to the exact locker I'm in and grabs me.

It was bloody impossible she would have known I was there.

End game screen, she had NO BBQ. NO aura reading/info perks. No top tier perks to speak of. Just things like green sloppy butcher, lullaby etc.

I don't usually conclude someone is cheating because it's really easy to assume and really hard to prove. But this was something else.

  • It's called taking a protection hit. There's even Rift challenges encouraging it, and BP reward "Distraction".

I get it being really aggravating if they're body blocking the hook when the Killer is trying to hang someone. I've had it happen where they all crowded me to allow enough time for the downed survivor to wriggle free. It's incredibly risky though and backfires more than it rescues, especially with the perk Starstruck. Equip that and watch survivors scatter.

Conversely, if a Killer is tunneling a single survivor into oblivion, it's unreasonable to expect their team mates to just sit by and let it happen. Of course they will try to take the heat off, or take a protection hit to get an injured survivor out of the exit gate.

Oh I get it I play console I know full well what the issues were before I fixed em with an SSD, the problem is the whole player base abused the lack of DC penalty to the point all games became ruined. It sucks for you it really does and if people only DC in those circumstances I would be fighting for it to stay off, but the overall quality of the game has just tanked due to babies dcing on their first hook, or first down, the ######### I've witnessed over the last week as a solo que survivor and killers has just been insane.

No, I get you. I play solo survivor (because I profoundly hate myself) and during the event probably 5/6 Killers just face-camped or hard tunneled at 5 gens so and with no d/c penalty, people didn't put up with it for a hot minute.

My partner was playing and this is what a typical match for him looked like during the event:

    camper.png

Idk what to think about that because I understand their frustration. No one wants to bring in 4 cake offerings only to have Ghostface hook the first survivor and stealth behind a box beside the hook.

He's trying to convince me to remind him why I want us to play this game. Alas, I have no real good answers.

  • At red ranks the Killer is just doing this to grief 4 random strangers. If they guaranteed a safety pip for survivors that escape a camping killer, I don't think it would be rewarding for them to troll in this manner.

  • @Razorbeam said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2376642#Comment_2376642

Lag or poor performance aren't reasons to DC, if we are talking hard crashes ( which is a rarer issue ) then thats acceptable, but when it comes to poor performance you know what you're getting going in and if you're choosing to take that on and you que for a game you're signing up for the match.

Then they should NOT have Raccoon City map enabled at all. I'm on console, and the lag and frame drops/glitches are bad enough on the normal maps. When I load into the new RE maps ( 3 times in 2 days), the entire game freezes. It's unplayable. I sort of have to d/c because I can't move and it's the only option to leave the game.

  • I see him all the time personally

  • Omg this is so unfortunate :( . I play Cheryl a lot. I LIKED the circles under her eyes. I liked how she looked worn out and sleep deprived. Now she looks like a generic Sim with a swollen face and no character. I regret grinding her to Prestige 3 now. Why do they have to "fix" things until they suck?

  • I had it once today, and once yesterday. It was unplayable with the lag and I had to d/c both times.

Also Nemesis makes every map even more laggy than any other Killer. I have to deal with screen freezes on skill check screens (gen explodes), freezing before any hop- lag switching to be right in front of the Killer when I've gone up two flights of stairs. It's such BS. But I don't want to miss the event entirely just b/c I'm on console.

  • But I love getting hit by the Huntresses hatchet around a corner and up two flights of stairs.

And who doesn't want to jump down a floor only to get hit by Freddy when you're half way down?

  • I sometimes try to stomach solo queue. So unfairness happens constantly.

So in today's batch, let's see... well aside from the constant bloody camping and unabashed tunneling at 4-5 gens: I completed the first gen, and the Huntress found me and chased me throughout the last FOUR gens. It was the longest chase I've ever had playing DBD. I was gobsmacked that this Killer just continued after me, past multiple gens being worked on, as they all popped one after the other. Wouldn't you know it, when the last gen popped, that's when she finally gets a hit on me- and NOED. But of course.

I get hooked, and watched the auras of my crummy "team mates" open both exit gates and leave. They didn't even try to search for the totem. Sure, the Huntress was being campy, but for the love of God. They had plenty of time to try to find the totem and idk, maybe give it a shot? Nope.

One of them even took a hot minute to grab an event Halo.

Solo queue is the WORST experience this game has to offer. I'm convinced the developers couldn't give a rat's behind about us.

  • @laKUKA said:

With my friends we stop playing until they fix it, and the most wonderful thing about this is that, we discovered a lot of games that are fun!

I'm at this stage. It's been crap for me since the RE content was released. Constant lag, lag switching etc. I went from Rank 2 to Rank 12 now LOL.

A lot of it was being disconnected constantly (while the DC penalty was a thing). Then they disable the DC penalty, and my rank dropped way more because the camping/tunneling is just insane during the event, and as soon as someone is camped they disconnect immediately leaving the rest of Solo survivors to flail around with a tunneler which = depips.

It's a miserable experience at the moment. I just started playing DBD in January and I've never seen a game company that would leave so many players with a broken game for what is it now... a month? More?

  • Tunneling is a real thing. When a Killer grabs the first survivor, and ignores everyone else to camp the hook and go after that injured survivor exclusively while others are literally throwing themselves in his path until they're hooked again- then repeat until that one survivor is out of the game.

I was tunneled yesterday by a Pyramid Head. I ran him through 4 generators. He ignored everything and just went after me the entire game. He finally downed me, parked in my face on the hook, and my team mates were running around him and he wouldnt move. Whenever they tried to rescue me, he'd just down me again pretty fast and the other 3 escaped without a scratch. It was dumb lol.

  • Yeah I was really into it before the update. But I'm on PS4 and it became technically unplayable (and I guess they're trying to fix that). I went fronm Rank 3 to Rank 9 when Nemesis came out (Rank reset + being constantly booted from the game made me lose pips). Then they took away the d/c penalty and in Solo survivor that means people d/c all the time

The camping and blatant tunneling is ridiculous anymore. I'm just so over it. With no d/c penalty, people who are being camped just disconnect and I kind of don't blame them. They'll lose a pip anyways, so why stare into Nemesis's face for 2 minutes to lose a Rank when you can exit immediately?

I logged in to play yesterday for the first time in almost 2 weeks, got about 3 matches. I just didn't care anymore. What's the point?

  • They could have been a 3 man SWF, where one wussed out so the other two d/c'd with their friend.

  • Before I was unable to play anymore due to the game freezing constantly on console, I played a few matches where every single time the Killer was Nemesis lol.

And yes. My God, the camping/tunneling is horrible. One match the guy just did nothing but chase me the entire time. I didn't even touch a generator. He chased me through 2 gens, and downed/hooked me. I was rescued from the hook but he was staying real close and he started on me again through BT- then he downed me again, and I used Decisive. He continued to chase me until the doors were powered, then opened.

I died, everyone else got out. I de-pipped because of course I did. Couldnt touch a genm couldn't rescue anyone. It was miserable LOL.

  • I haven't been able to play since the update due to constant lag, freezing and randomly getting booted off. What did the Franlin's nerf entail anyways?

  • I'm on PS4.Had to log out (Solo survivor) because I've never experienced the lag/freezing etc in this game until now.

It is unplayable atm for me

  • I have a PS4 and just had to stop playing because..well..it's unplayable. Constant freezing.

If BHVR wants people on old gen consoles out, can you just have the decency to tell us?

  • ....ok, I know I'm old and out of the loop, but what "new ban system"? Have a link?

  • @ClumsyTrapper said:

So like solo queue group therapy? I like the sound of that

    Exactly!

"Grandpa, why don't you tell us what happened today. Go at your pace, no one is judging you here."

Grandpa; "I was at Coldwind. The Hag was prancing around in her red evening gown, which is traumatizing enough- but then a Jake was hooked. We ALL know Hags proxy camp, right? RIGHT? They hook you, then lay traps at the base of the hook. It's a THING. We either have to crouch walk to unhook, or burn them with a flashlight. Well I didn't have a flashlight because I seem to suck with one, so there I go, carefully, painstakingly crawling- inching ever closer to the hook to save Jake. He watches me slowly yet stealthily reach for him, and just as his tippy-toe reaches the ground the jackass breaks into a RUN. A bloody run.

Why? Whhyyyyyyyyy?? Corn will never be the same for me every again D: "

Yeah I agree with that. I just don't agree with the mindset that solo queue isn't fundamentally awful.

There should be a subforum here "Solo Q Therapy" LOL. So many of us have been traumatized, we could have a "safe space" to be heard :).

The only people breaking rules there are the people who DC'd.

    You can't punish perk set-ups/playstyles

I'm sure it will never be punished. And yes, I am well aware of DC'ing being against the rules (and yet, it happens every other match!). At the same time, no one can blame survivors for getting uppity either. I don't blame people for not wanting to entertain bad manners. But it's DBD after all :) . "It's a LeGiT strategy" and all that type of thing.

And I find it fun. The 3 times I did it, I had fun. I didn't do it to ruin anyone's experience, I did it just because it is fun to me.

Basement Boob basically means you camp. Which is not bannable. Periodt.

Uh huh. Last time I encountered an Insidious Basement camping Bubba, it resulted in 3 disconnects, no gens done, and I was left to find the hatch. Everyone depipped, no one earned many BPs, so If you aren't finding the idea of making others miserable entertaining, because you know full well that it's universally despised- can you articulate what you find fun about it?

and I know it's technically not bannable. But I hope it becomes punishable some day b/c it's griefing almost exclusively against Solo survivors, exploiting their inability to communicate.

  • @MadLordJack said:

Gonna be honest, things like Basement Bubba are exactly what needs to be punished, so... Not exactly complaining, you are actively trying to ruin other people's trials. That sort of thing is absolutely bannable in other games under the term "griefing".

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Insidious Basement Camping Bubba is done solely to ruin a match for 4 people and waste their time. Killers who willingly plan to do this, know exactly what they're doing and get some sick amusement out of making others miserable- oh, but sanitize it by calling it "a playstyle". It's just trolling.

    Personally, I think it's griefing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2261256#Comment_2261256

I mean that's the nature of the game. you will always have situation's you don't have the perks for. Killer also has that issue. Miscommunication is the biggest problem in solo que. You will need to give up something for it. As a killer there are perks i want that i have to leave out because 4 is very limiting.

I understand the idea is selfish play and taking second chance perks is your best bet. But that is going to lead to the issues of miscommunication. I think Swf is way stronger than solo que and killer. But i would say killer and solo que are close.

Taking second chance perks is NOT "selfish play" necessarily. The biggest asset you can be for your team is actually being alive since we all know how many Killers tunnel one survivor out at the very beginning so they can secure their chances of getting 4k. The less survivors there are, the easier the game becomes for Killer. And you know, most of us bought this game to actually play it. The Killer has the choice and power to end the game for just about any Solo survivor at any time and they often do (again, simply camp/proxy camp and tunnel right off the hook). Yesterday I witnessed a Hag tunneling so badly that 2 survivors only came away with like, 3k BPs each. Kindred is useless against Proxy camping.

Those matches are the epitome of misery and occur often enough that second chance perks become a necessity. For some, their importance overshadows information perks. Meanwhile, SWF have; Kindred, Empathy, Bond- and a bunch of other extra perks by default. I think that might be what's rubbing some people the wrong way here; you're acting (maybe not your intent) like second chance perks are this fun choice and we're just being selfish if we use up slots on any anti-tunneling/slugging perks. But tunneling at high ranks is SO bad, that a Solo has a greater chance of earning more BPs and being able to play the game for longer by equipping whatever we can to get away and prolong the game. In red ranks, hell, you can bloody well depip even if you escape because of how the emblem system works.

Anyhoo, I don't think you and I entirely disagree though at base. I know all too well that Killer is stressful. I have to be in the right frame of mind to play it LOL. But when I do play Killer and get frustratedm it's usually when I face 3-4 man SWF's. Their advantage is ridiculous. I think the problem is that BHVR wants them in so bad for the $$$, so they try to balance Killers and SWF when the game wasn't initially designed that way. To me, Solo queue is just the chattel BHVR throws to the Killers so they don't quit lol. Because if the game stayed the same, but there were only SWF to be matched with, there would be no Killers because it's an exercise in masochism. If it weren't for SWF I'd play Killer more.

  • @Steah said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2261104#Comment_2261104

Yes because info perks like this really do help in solo que.

Buffing survivor to have this info for free will not help the other issue of bad team mates.

No one in your game figured out the killer had BBQ. That's on them. Unless you propose an ingame voice chat for the survivors then you will always have this happen with solo que.

I know it's my opinion but saying solo que survivor is no where near the strenght of killer is also just an opinion. Bad matches will always happen, but the amount of bad matches can be reduced by using perks like Kindred and Bond, but survivors seemed glued to their second chance perks.

When Ruin/Undying was at the peak of its power, the amount of maps, small games, and detective hunches didn't change. People are just too glued to their second chance perks. I get that it sucks if you want to run all the second change perks in the world, but that is the nature of the game. I have a lot of perk builds i want to run on killer but they give up too much in the form of game delay and tracking. I can still use them if i want. Just like a solo survivor can use second chance perks all they want but they shouldn't be complaining about totems or lack of coordination with the other survivors.

I personally run Kindred a lot. But it's not magic. And I can only spare one perk slot for information. Sometimes not even that and I've just learned to creep to a hooked survivor as I just expect the Killer to camp now. Most Solo survivors don't "cling to second chance perks" for fun. We do it out of pure necessity. The camping/tunneling/slugging in this game is downright common. We have threads complaining about it daily. And it's always the same replies:

"Oh PUHleeze! That's why you have to run BT, DS, and Unbreakable! EVERY match! You have all the perks available to prance away into the sunset! It's your fault for not equipping them."

Oh, ok. So that's what? 3 perk slots. Oh wait though- the best way to avoid getting hooked is not to get caught in the first place. You kind of need an exhaustion perk right? Like Dead Hard. Or Lithe because we all have to "Git Gud!". Chases are kind of a huge part of the game, and prolonging a chase is the goal. So that's a slot.

So what if I manage to get away from the tunneling Killer but he hasn't quite given up yet? Well I main Grandpa who has the loudest, ribcage rattling, chain-smoker's coughs, wheezing and gasps of pain. NOT helpful if I'm trying to stealthily blend with a bush. Probably not gonna fool anyone.

"If you don't wanna get tunneled y you don't have Iron Will, n00b?"

And I haven't even addressed the heal perk slot. I can't tell you how many matches I've had to run after a fellow Solo survivor, teabagging furiously so they'll heal me. They love ignoring heals especially against Oni. So screw that, I say. Next time, I'm bringing Inner Strength.

As I said before, Solo survivors have to create their build for complete self-sufficiency. We don't have the luxury of running multiple info perks of the 4 slots we have. Kindred and Bond with no communication are only helpful for one aspect of the game. We have all the other aspects to think about too.

To tweak a bit of what @NMCKE illustrated, to me, it looks like this:

[WEAKEST] Solo Survivors -----> Killers --------------------------------------> SWF [STRONGEST]

  • @Steah said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2261063#Comment_2261063

While i sympathize with your match, it doesn't counter any of my points.

Most of your points are "Just run Kindred".

It's way more complicated than that. The rest is basically your opinion that you personally don't find Solo that bad.

  • I counter Spirit by offering her a free deep conditioning treatment on her wayward hair.

But I tell her that her hair is stunning and that I want her to feel pretty that day :) . After which, maybe she'll let me go.

  • Yeah, I disagree for most of the reasons already stated.

I just stopped playing Solo tonight out of pure frustration. SWF being able to communicate with each other is basically like each team mate having a ton of extra information perks. And as @GoodBoyKaru said, the ability to coordinate perks is invaluable. Selecting your own team mates that compliment your play-style is also a massive advantage.

Like I had a match tonight against a Rank 1 tunneling Spirit (and thanks to the matchmaking test, I was the only red rank. The rest were purples so they should have known better). It was a blood bath. Rank 1 Spirits usually are anyways, but this Killer very obviously had BBQ. Not ONE of my team mates seemed to pick up on it. If I was in an SWF I could just call it out and the entire game would have changed. Alas, not one generator was completed. It was a circus of a match where I was just running my ass off all around the map unhooking because I was the only one with BT.

I refuse to believe that somehow that Spirit is having a rougher time as Killer than the Solo survivors being tossed to her like raw meat to a 700lbs crocodile.

There is no matchmaking fix possible to make up for the lack of information, and lack of ability to coordinate. The whole idea of survivor side is playing as a team, but Solo rarely feels one. Most of us have to create self-sufficient builds knowing damn well you can't count on anyone.

So yeah. Solo survivor is ballz lol. Something has to be done to make it less sucky.

  • My partner was playing survivor and first few games he was matched with green/purple rank survivors (he's Rank 7) against yellow rank Killers.

Then all of a sudden he was matched with a super sweaty Rank 1 tunneling Spirit- he couldn't understand why he was the only one running around unhooking, etc etc.

Post-match all his team mates were around Rank 15.

We just turned it off for the evening lol. Why bother.

  • Most of the time I just work on the generator anyways if the Killer is focused on the survivor. Worst that can happen is I get a swat if the Killer notices.

I understand sometimes that in the heat of the moment, as most gens are near pallets/loops, a survivor might run to the nearest. It would be nice if they then lead the Killer away once they realize a gen is being worked on.

As others have pointed out, nowhere near as irritating as survivors looping the Killer around a hooked person. That drives me nuts.

Then you get those winners who not only loop near the hooked survivor, but then unhook while the Killer is still on their arse.

  • My matches at Rank 3:

Pig, Legion,Pig, Legion, Legion, Pig- and then I turned the game off lol.
