I knew someone was going to say this…are you suggesting the block option doesn’t work or because they’re a “hacker?” Cause if it’s the latter, I seriously doubt subtle cheaters care about console players blocking them. It’s the griefers who show their flamboyant hacks in the game, that are prone to removing the block.
Now if you’re referring to the former, I personally have never got rematches with any one I have blocked. I only block ragequitters and the aforementioned flamboyant hackers, and not even those guys I’ve seen again.
I'm not 100% certain and I actually really hope you're correct. I play on console, and if a player's profile is set to "friends only" we aren't even offered the option to block them. I have a suspicion that blocking only prevents them from communicating with you and seeing your profile.
Again, I hope I'm wrong.

Yea I’m running into more and more of these killers already in Tier 3 Bloodlust at the start of a chase. You can’t even loop ONCE. I’m like how are they that fast at the beginning of the game?? No speed add-ons on perks post game. I’m going to start blocking all of them now. These are the most dangerous cheaters.
I don't think blocking them makes a difference. You can still be matched with them.

Trickster tome was worst. I already hate him so much and it was so annoying facing with him again, again and again. I am okey for Piggy.
I hate the Trickster so much that I just avoided DBD for awhile during that Tome.
As for the Pig, yes. They're everywhere. I'm starting to feel the urge to disconnect on the loading screen when I see an RPD offering /**twitch.

Some people are really missing the point of the argument
the major issue wasn’t that “4% is OP”
the primary issue was the fact that it’s only 4%, so survivors use it as a tool to rage quit and screw over their teammates without actually quitting and receiving a penalty
the fact that it also screws over killers when it does actually work is just the salt in the wounds of a bad mechanic
removing it would make solo queue survivor a better place primarily
I disagree. I play Solo queue mainly, and I think it would make it an even crappier experience than it is now, or at best, make not much of a difference.
Solo queue is the Clown world of DBD. Of course, I try to avoid killing myself on the hook most of the time, but we're all human and if I'm on my 5th facecamping Bubba standing there nodding at me, and none of my team mates are on gens, I want to be able to opt out and move on to the next match. Another example is being on the hook, no camping Killer, but you've found yourself to be matched with a 3 man SWF. So none of them even try to come save you. In that scenario, of course I just let go and die. What's the point?
BHVR already extended the time it takes to struggle (didn't realize I couldn't say KY) on the hook with the newish struggle mechanic anyways.
-
No. Holy crap, it's only a 4% chance. A goddam miracle if it happens.

Hello, I'm always trying to do the rounds through campers, I'm slowly not having any fun anymore. There are perks that are too strong as a killer, e.g. the Nurse can teleport twice behind the other or the leatherface makes a one hit. There is also an op attachment for Huntress Ax which makes a one hit and that increases camping. The teamates are also braindead and get me off the hook when the killer is behind them. The ghost has a boost when it is visible too much. Today I met 99% campers in my rounds.
Wait... your team mates actually try to save you from the hook?
Wow.
-
Not commenting on the Boil Over perk here, just looking at the endgame chat and those survivors are jerks. I don't see Killers d/c very often, but when I have, I usually feel empathy because I know it was out of frustration. I think most of us have left a game out of annoyance at some point regardless of the side we play. Rubbing salt in the wounds is poor sportsmanship.

Because I am not trying to ruin anyone game. I am simply playing the game. I am not here to collect any salt, just trying to win and do my objective as killer : kill the survivors.
The truth is : survivors hate loosing. They are 3 main strategies in DBD :
- Hit multiples survivors to get many people injured and try to get downs fast enough so they don’t have time to rescue, heal and do generators at the sale time : this strategy is dead since the introduction of circle of healing. Now that any survivor can heal himself, you don’t have enough pressure.
- Gen regression : again, with the introduction of circle of healing your totems will be cleansed extremely fast again good survivors. It’s not working anymore.
- Snowball with starstruck : this strategy is strong on nurse, trying to get everyone exposed and down them all. But it is very stressful after a while because messing up 1 starstruck can be the difference between winning and loosing.
- Endgame : with no way out + noed. This strategy is to tunnel 1 survivor and kill him fast. This guarantee at least 2k, and more if you can kill someone else before end game or if they fail to hide during no way out.
See all I am doing is evaluating my options and trying to win. I don’t have to receive insults or death threats for it, I am just playing the game. The goal of the killer is to kill the survivors, not babysit them and give a great time for everyone.
First and foremost; in no way do I think wishing death, cancer, telling someone to kill themselves etc is acceptable. That's totally crossing the line.
That being said, you should expect a bit of sass for your play style. Even though camping/tunneling is technically not against the rules, it's incredibly annoying for a survivor to wait 10 minutes for a match only to be immediately tunneled out of the game. It's such a waste of time for them that it's natural they be irritated. To have the Killer then go "Victor was hungry" could be seen as adding salt to the wounds of a person who could only spectate an entire match who didn't get to play at all.
In your screenshots I dare say you seem to be baiting their frustration, then wondering why their messages get increasingly toxic.
I think the best way to avoid the ones taking it too far would be to either disable end game chat\ or at the very least don't engage them. It doesn't solve the greater problem, but at the very least, you don't have to see it anymore.
-
I can't stand the current MMR system. Playing Solo queue is crappy enough without a system that encourages selfish gameplay and camping/tunneling. It's bizarre to see the devs praise themselves emphatically that they've created such an amazing thing when it's terrible. I play probably 90% less than I did before the SBMM.
-
The issue I take with SBMM is that I don't think it's working well at all when it comes to Solo queue (the devs don't actually GAF about Solo experience). I went from playing this game maybe 4-5 nights a week after work to playing once a week, maybe 4 matches due to the idiocy of the MMR. I get constantly stuck with potato team mates who make stupid plays, and stupid decisions. Some of them have only been playing the game for a few weeks and have nothing but yellow perks.
So what happens is, they go down immediately. I manage to survive the entire match, escaping chases, doing gens, doing hook saves etc, but because the hatch was reworked to be almost pointless, I often die. That's what happens when you're matched with a crappy team. You die. And it doesn't matter how well you played. If it's just you and the Killer left, you WILL die unless you get lucky and find the hatch. Even at that, they've stated that hatch escapes "don't count". Which is also ridiculous.
Then the next 4 matches are face campers. And most people know that unabashed camping/tunneling is almost a guaranteed win against Solo queue. Even the devs have said this. So if a Killer face camps and tunnels, that increases the chances of death exponentially in Solo queue. Which lowers your MMR, matching you with even worse team mates. Soon, you are trapped in MMR hell, and you can't really get out of it. So the game just becomes more frustrating than it is fun or challenging.
Personally, I think what we're looking at here in the video is ego. They just think they're right, and no amount of real testimony and player experience will change their minds because that would require reflecting on the idea that they worked for 2 years on something that is seen as a failure in the eyes of a large percentage of the audience.
-
Am I still having fun?
Well if you call spending an entire match doing the majority of the gens, saves, heals, only to watch a substandard 3man SWF leave me to die on my first hook knowing MY MMR will drop and theirs will go up?
Oh, it's a blast.
Or loading into a match, hearing Trickster music and immediately knowing the Killer is a 14 year old facecamper *every single time*.
Yeah screw SBMM. It just sucked the fun out of this for me. I now only play maybe a few matches one day a week,

Had to do some digging.
Thick David: Our True Hero : deadbydaylight (reddit.com)
SHREK in Dead By Daylight - YouTube
Pretty sure Shrek was a Clown skin and sound pack, but the video took it a step further.
I spit out my drink laughing at this LOL
-
I've been starting to wonder if the MMR is just turned off or something. It's been SO bad lately. And as you said- I've noticed being teamed with absolute potato survivors but the Killers are very competent, resulting in a blood bath. It's just awful.
-
I've noticed an increase in blatant cheats being used. Like the match I loaded into with a Hag that literally was flying around the map at light speed. She downed everyone and left us to bleed out. 2 people d/c'd, I had to wait the full 4 mins because I didnt want a penalty.
Just the other day A killer (Ghostface) and survivor were working together to catch me. My friend that I was playing with had been long sacrificed, and I was being really elusive. Suddenly they both disconnected at the exact same time, and my friend and I both had identical 30 minute penalties even though neither of us d/c'd. Not sure if that was a hack, but it was pretty bizarre.
On the survivor side, I was in a match and this Jake had instant heals. He picked me up from being slugged in about 2 seconds. It wasn't For the People. And he was just tapping everyone who was slugged to almost immediately pick them up (match against Twins and the Killer was trying to slug everyone repeatedly).
The flying Hag was something else though.
-
If there is no good reason that I wasn't saved before struggle, I'll just let go and let the entity take me. It's morbidly amusing to see them actually start running for you (finally) when they realize it will be 3 vs 1.
After that, I spectate and watch them die :)
-
That stuff would be so OP the survivors might as well spawn hooked lol

My main is Bill. He's my fav.
But if I want to switch it up, I also play Cheryl and Chris Redfield

I will say if the kate reported you for harrassment you'll get a notice from sony etc. This is ridiculous. I had a survivor harass me for being a bad hag. (I was just doing dailies). They started harassing me across my socials and threatened to dox me. I then got a messege from sony saying i violated tos and could be banned. Sony sides with whoever reports first.
I haven't received a message from Sony yet. I'm not sure how it can construed as "harassment" when she sent me a message first. I just responded to her.
@Laluzi , I'm usually not spiteful, but by the end of that match, I just didn't want the Kate to get the hatch lmao. I didn't even think I'd find the hatch before the Killer, and was fine with dying. But the DBD Gods smiled on me for a change.
-
I'm an Old and I have a job and a mortgage, so I've only ever played this game casually. I was optimistic about the SBMM when they were hyping it up. After implementation? Good God. The game hasn't been as fun. As others have said, it's made most games sweaty. Idk if it's due to the change in the matchmaking, but under the old Rank system, I got a lot more Killers who would goof around sometimes. Or give the last survivor the hatch/the door. I'm not saying this is required of course, but it was nice sometimes to have a bit of comraderie as two people playing the same game. Now? I've had a lot of incidents where the Killers will carry me to the hatch, pretend to give it to me and slam it in my face. Same with the door. They encourage you to open it, only to grab you and hook you. I'm not someone who has bad manners when I play (I just play normally. I don't *click click* or T-bag or anything) so I find that just childish, and now I don't even bother trying to goof around with Killers anymore. I miss it.
As others have said, the camping/tunneling at 4-5 gens has increased a lot. I go into a match expecting a camping Killer now, and it just results in crap Bloodpoints for everyone.
At least under the old Rank system you had something to try for. It was kind of fun to challenge myself to reach Rank 1. And the Rank reset wasn't as defeating as the new Grade reset. I don't even try to get to Iridescent Rank now. What's the point? I'll just go back to zero in a few weeks anyways and have to start all over again. I just hate it.
Then I learned the SBMM is based around escapes which does nothing but encourage selfish game play. So if I'm not selfish, and risk myself to save a team mate, next match I'll be stuck with utter potatoes.
Ugh.
-
As a survivor, I can't stand it when I'm the last man standing, and the Killer pretends to give me the hatch, or pretends to give me the door just to be a jerk and then hook me. I faced a Wraith once who only won because he practically face-camped (cloaked of course). Two survivors D/C'd, one died, and instead of just hooking me, he left me on the ground to bleed out while he constantly rang his bell. Those types of players are just there to ruin someone's day. Nothing more.
-
It still bothers me but only under certain circumstances. I play Solo queue, which is at a distinct disadvantage compared to SWF who can easily coordinate around it.
It bothers me if it's the 4th game in a row where the Killer just camps and tunnels (at 4-5 gens). By that time, it's just so repetitive, and frustrates me because it seems like that's all there is to the game. I get a bit apathetic waiting to finally get a match where the Killer actually plays the game rather than stares into the face of the first person he's hooked. As a survivor, you get next to no points for those matches. Especially if you're the first one camped. You don't pip either. So it's a colossal waste of time.
Even today when I played a few matches, just about every Killer camped and tunneled. In one match, a survivor disconnected seconds after loading in, so it was 3 vs 1. The Ghostface still camped the first hook at 5 gens. Just crouched behind a bale of hay and waited. It was ridiculous.
I've just opted to play the game far, far less. Maybe I'll play 5-6 matches a week with a friend (no coms).

She was evil, but she was too cute imo. Sadako was more creepy looking.
-
I don't understand the question, but I'll say this; I hope to God it's Sadako.
The American version of Ringu was a crappified version of the original (imo). I've no idea why Hollywood made Sadako into "Samara", a cute little kid. It kind of sucked the creep factor out for me.
-
This looks like all of my recent games. I stopped playing DBD as much because I don't know anyone else who plays so it's Solo or nothing. But since I stopped playing regularly ( I play maybe one evening a week now), I think my MMR has dropped so my team mates are absolute potatoes, and every Killer camps and tunnels from the first hook. Since MMR is based on escapes (2 years to develop such an idiotic way to judge skill), I barely ever escape and I'm trapped in MMR hell.
So I'm inclined to play even less. I feel like the devs only care about SWF, and luring in new players by constantly adding content.
Anyways, the old Rank system was far superior. I was in red rank, and usually got competent team mates. Killers at red ranks camped a hell of a lot less. This Grade system sucks.
-
Kate's is really awful.
-
I hate Trickster. I'm not saying "omg nerf him" or anything. But he is very map dependent. If you have a map with high walls, it's fine. If you're in the open? Nah. You're going down.
Regardless, every Trickster I have played against just camps and tunnels anyways. So I just roll my eyes when I load in. The fancier the cosmetic, the greater the camping with him lol.
-
I have an intensive job and I haven't read on this. Is he getting a nerf? Direction to where I can read on it would be appreciated.
-
I've offered if the Killer seemed to be really out-matched, and especially if on top of it, the other survivors are being jerks to the Killer to add insult to injury. I just stop, point at the hook. Most times though, the Killers don't accept it. Not sure if it's that they don't understand.
I've also seen people stay purposely to get taken by the Entity to give Killers some kills. It's not common though. Since SBMM, I've almost never had a Killer give me the hatch either (I don't expect it, but I've noticed it's become incredibly rare as opposed to 6 mos ago).
-
Nah, that Feng is just being precious here. Don't let it get to you.
-
yeah, I'd be interested. Just the thought of not being left to die on my first hook lol
-
Sorry, didn't read all the replies to this. But to add my thoughts; I think BHVR was just trying to cash in on the Koreaboo/Weeaboo demographic.
I haven't played in a hot minute, and tried logging in today. I see some anime crap with Trickster and Im like; "Oh, the little girls will love this! he is SO kawaii!".
No, but really, my thoughts were "Why are you trying to make this happen? It's like 'fetch'. It WON'T happen!".
-
Hmmm
I think I'll just post to say WELCOME to DBD :)
lol. You will be experiencing this frustration for the entirety of your stay here. God Bless.
-

Boon totems are useless in soloQ. SoloQ is still the same hell it has always been.
This is true. I've scarcely found them helpful so far. People with the perks will spend endless amounts of time to locate and bless/rebless totems instead of doing gens/saves. Idk, hasn't made me switch the meta perks.
-
It's such garbage. I just played 8 survivor matches (Solo). ZERO escapes. Every Killer borderline face-camped and tunneled right off the hook, so I gave up. There's no point because I don't want to deal with that all the time.
So I dusted off Killer, which I haven't played in months (and I was never that great at it because I feel console is severely disadvantaged that way), I'm up against a 4-man SWF who were doing flashlight saves, hook mobbing/blocking- an obviously coordinated team on coms. They all had their perks cohesive and everything. I tried to stomach it 2 more times, and always the same. I only got a kill or two because of NOED.
It's so ridiculous.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I've never been one for Reddit, but I just want to be able to speak my mind without worrying about it being deleted or re-written, and then me subsequently banned when literally no forum rules have even come close to being broken.

I actually had a game where we needed one gen. Someone was afk in a locker, the killer was just ignoring all of the pings. The other was just waiting for me to die. I ran them for 5 minutes, lead them to the person hiding, and they still just kept tunneling me until I lost all hope and just stood there. They were fully intending to face camp me too, but I was already killing myself on hook before long.
I had a match where there were 3 survivors left, and we were 3-genned (Thompson House map). The Claudette and I did everything to get that last gen. The Trickster was just camping them, and wouldn't chase anyone for any amount of time. He'd just shoo us away from the generators for about 15 minutes.
The third was Mikaela and I had NO idea what she was doing. At one point the Killer had downed the Claudette, but wanted to hook her right near where the last gen was half done. I knew he was being pretty ambitious because it was a long way, and I crouched to block him from the hook and Claudette jumped off (it only took 3 seconds). That really pissed him off so he chased me all over the map and I took him as far away as I could. He eventually downed me and the Claudette finished the gen. It was my first hook.
Claudette finished the gen injured, so he ran right back and got her pretty quickly as the Mikaela, *totally healthy*, opened the gate and *just left*. Just like that. Didn't even look back, or linger, or think about it. The Trickster wasn't anywhere close to me until he came back to beat me on the hook, because apparently he had the maturity of a 12 year old. The Mikaela could have EASILY at least saved the Claudette who was hooked right near the Exit.
But no. All she did the entire match with her map was get every pumpkin, every totem, never tried to get that last gen and left us both flat at the first opportunity.
This game has convinced me that if we were in an apocalypse scenario, humanity would just suck to each other.
-
I've had a few Killers d/c since the penalties were disabled. Usually if they lose me during a long chase. After Decisive Strike, and often if their totems are cleansed early in the game.
I do agree though that survivors d/c for being camped/tunneled. They do that even when the d/c penalties are up. I've done it before (not condoning it). But when you're on your fourth match in a row and Ghostface just stealths by the hooked survivor waiting for the unhook, it grows really tedious.
-
Lucky. Mine have been the opposite. Survivors are playing more selfishly too. It's getting fairly common that I can go extra mile all game, and be left to die on my first hook when they Killer isn't even camping.

Some people were pretty.. yeah.
Others I found nice though. Most of the Mods are fine.

What is 99ing an exit gate?
It means a survivor opens the gate to about 99%. That means EGC isn't initiated and it just takes a tap to open the gate
-
I don't even understand why this is a problem.
The survivors already had time to 99% the gate. That means they could have easily escaped and most likely want to have time try to save a team mate.
MOST of the time this happens:
- There are 3-4 survivors left. When it's only two (and god help us, one) doesn't happen.
- A survivor 99's and stands by the gate waiting to open if another is being chased (which is the same difference of fully opening them)
- The Killer is camping the last survivor they downed because the gens are done. Survivors need time to try to rescue which may or may not be successful (If there's NO-ED they need to look for the totem. If Bubba is facecamping there are hook exchanges etc). In Solo queue, 80% chance they leave you to die on the hook and not even try.
What are these "free escapes" your talking about? Because from my perspective, they already practically opened the door. It's just they might have had a bit more time to try to save a camped survivor. Sounds like you don't want them to have time to do that. I mean keys have already been gutted to a point they're just about useless. The hatch now only appears if you're the last survivor, making chances of escape for last man standing next to nothing.
And now if you're the only one left, AND you aren't facing a high mobility Killer, or a range Killer, AND the Exit Gates don't spawn close together (like usual), your only hope (which is less than 16%) of opening that gate is to do it little by little and hide.
So that should be made even more impossible then?
-
Yep. It's miserable.
And now I have no hope of finding the hatch. I was never a hatch camper, but there is a huge advantage to the Killer when it only appears with the last man standing. Killer can run all over the map. Survivor has to avoid the Killer to look for it. I used to manage to escape thru the hatch as the last man quite a bit. But now? Killer almost always finds it first. What the hell is the point anymore.
-
Guess no one else noticed this thread has been necro'd. It's from July 2020

I play very altruistically as well. I always equip BT. If I have a syringe I save if possible to pick up slugs during endgame collapse shenanigans. I really try hard to get everyone out.
I don't think players on console are more selfish. Even if it were true to a degree of tendency, it might just be a matter of a younger player base maybe. If I'm playing on my day off, I notice a stark difference between playing in the morning, and after 3-4pm when school lets out. Or Fridays after 10pm with a full moon, stuff starts getting cray cray with trolls lol.
