I think it's not because of CoH in any form.
I think it's still fallout from the SBMM that BHVR will never admit failed.

You know what I mean dont fake to not understand.
There is only masculine gays represented in video games. The queer culture is forgotten.
There is only space for heteronormative looking characters in video games. And Im sad.
Have you played Final Fantasy 7? Wallmarket couldn't have been gayer.

That was homophobic.
And you're trolling.
I'm just another "wrong kind of gay". Sorry so many of us disagree with you, hun
-
*laughs in gay*
I'm gay. I just assumed some characters with ambiguous backgrounds could be gay. Personally I didn't need BHVR to revise an existing character (who had a gf).
I mean, why not just make the next new survivor gay or something if it was so important?
Not mad about it either tho. Whatever.

I've faced that before. It's so bloody tedious. The matches last forever. We get no unhook points.
No idea why Killers play that way

I have the same experience in 95% of my matches. It's always the same style of play I encounter. Camping from distance or face camping. It's not the killer that I hate, it's the way people play him. Same to huntress btw.
It's true it's actually the play style of the person behind the Killer. But due to Trickster excelling at camping and tunneling specifically ( or as you said, proxy camping), I find people who choose him just choose to play that way (as illustrated in this thread). Huntress can be a punishing proxy camper as well, but it takes some skill to play her (fridge-sized hitboxes aside). You can get some value out of Borrowed Time on Huntress, and it is certainly possible to dodge some of her hatchets. But just my opinion/experience.

I am not the one in here frothing at the mouth over a video game character?
No, I responded to a thread asking a specific question about a specific Killer and gave my opinion just like you did lol. I mean it's a Dead by Daylight forum. People will be making posts and replies about the game. We all won't necessarily agree with each other, but that's what forums are.
It's not a difficult concept, here.

Basically the same place I am at.
I've always been in favor of killers getting stronger and I still am, but when for killers to get stronger all they do is make perks garbage for solo q and still useable to SWF I just can't agree with that.
Exactly.
I see posts complaining about CoH (even after two nerfs) all the time. But the problem isn't that the perk itself "gives a free perk to all team members" as often stated. It benefits SWF's far and above Solo queue. Because SWF's have tons of free perks by virtue of communication.
It's built in: Kindred, Bond, Empathy, Empathic Connection, Dark Sense etc etc.
The ability to strategize and coordinate perks and items before the match is a huge leg up. Knowing your team mates skill level is an advantage. Insidious basement camping Bubba has no power over SWF (unless they let altruism kill them). All need to be done is announce: "Being facecamped". No one will budge from gens. But face-camping often decimates Solo Q matches and that's why it happens so often.
Solo Q is at a distinct disadvantage. So whenever I see constant forum threads "Nerf Dead Hard! Make CoH far more trouble than it's worth! In every match, ONE survivor has to load in already hooked, and that hook has to be dangling over a zombie pit which is encircled by diseased flames!"
I'm just like... holy crap time to find a new game lol. At this point, I don't think the Devs will ever address how miserable the Solo Q experienced can be. They're too busy pandering to SWF's and pumping out cosmetics/making a new Killer.

I mean it's what he is good at. You can't blame people for playing into a characters strength.
Nobody said the survivors had to swarm me at the hook, in the basement, but they did.
Is it my fault for taking advantage? I don't think so. I guess I should have just let the survivor who followed me into the basement unhook while I went to reload?
Dude, I'm not telling you how to play your games. Seems like someone is a wee bit defensive.
-
Glad it's not just me who noticed. I didn't even realize something was happening with the MMR (busy irl), but I'm not surprised. I play once a week now. Yesterday evening was just abysmally miserable in Solo Q. My trend was the same as yours; matched with team mates who didn't seem to know what they're doing, and the Killer is obviously very experienced.
One match I was the fourth lobbied with a 3 man SWF ALL running No Mither (I would have lobby dodged, but put the dog out before I saw their very similar names). They lasted a combined total of 5 minutes. I didn't touch a gen. I was running from hook to hook saving them as they couldn't even wait until the Killer left the area to save each other. Total sh*show.
On the end screen, in many of my matches, I outscored my team mates by well over 12k Bloodpoints. Insane. It's not a boast. I'm not a great survivor. I'm competent, I'm a good team player, but I'm not going to be making a channel showing off my skills anytime soon LOL.
So yeah. Something is completely messed up.

Making it in a lot of times smarter to not be a team player. So with that mentality in mind, which is a lot of times created by the game itself, why would a solo player bring COH instead of just a medkit/Selfcare? Selfcare also increases healing of someone else afaik, and a medkit surely does.
No one, especially not the Devs thinks about Solo queue when it comes to balance and perk adjustments.
I'm a "team player" in Solo Q (run BT, CoH, shadowstep sometimes) and since the SBMM encourages selfish play, and rewards escapes over everything else, I'm often left to die on my first hook as 3 people run out the door. CoH was actually helpful for Solo queue in the beginning. If they nerfed it a third time, no one would use it anymore. It would become trash and we'd all go back to the old Meta. Even now, I see CoH less and less and sometimes I think dedicating one perk slot to team health and the rest for self preservation is the way to go. In that scenario, Borrowed Time is more valuable than CoH imo.
All anyone cares about is Killer vs SWF. Because SWF is insanely strong. I commiserate with Killers, but I'm getting real tired of Solo Q being nothing but an afterthought.

I just play him cause he is good at camping and can get downs pretty easy. My one trickster game today lasted like 4m as a cocky survivor followed me carrying my first down into the basement and got nuked.
Gotta spam the knives into them as they die too, omegalul

So, you're basically illustrating my post and showing screenshots of what looks like a big waste a time where no one earned any bloodpoints including yourself.
Ok?
-
Same happened to me. After 8pm it was a sh*tshow.
- Loaded in with a 3 man SWF- I was putting my dog out so I didn't notice until it was too late. They all had HEX: *witty thing* in their names. ALL running No Mither.
- ALL 100% incompetent.
- They died in the first 5 minutes. I maxed out hook saves on them- literally never touched a generator because I was just running back and fourth rescuing. At the end, Freddy found the hatch and I just stood and waited for him.
- By 10 pm I just logged out. It's pointless with such crap team mates and so many face camping Killer. It;s Saturday, so I have to wonder if the 13 year olds are playing.
-
I'm honest, I HATE Trickster. Can't stand him in a match.
For one, 99% of Killers who play Trickster are 14 year old jerks. I know probably not OP. I know there are exceptions as well ( you dont have to tell me), but BHVR designed him to lure in a very young crowd of vapid, giggling morons who lurve K-Pop and think he is like, soo 'kyoot' . ପ(๑•ᴗ•๑)ଓ ♡!!!!!
The vast majority of Tricksters camp and tunnel. When I get into a match and hear that music that sounds clownish, but is not for THE Clown, I just roll my eyes as a Solo queue player and wait for the first down. Should I save? Oh look, there's little Ji Woon face-camping and continuously throwing knives into the hooked survivor.
How bad ass.
I'm so glad I waited 10 minutes for this and wasted an item I'll eventually lose to this idiot.
Again, I know this does not describe the OP, but it's my usual Trickster experience.
-
- We shouldn't have to lose our entire inventory.
- If they insist on wiping our inventory/perks, and we grind to do it 3 times, at the very least remove trash brown items from our blood webs. For example, if someone is full prestige, do we really need "instructions" as an add on on a tool box so we don't get skill checks for all of 5 seconds?
-
Ah yes. Once again, Solo survivors are just meaningless garbage thrown to Killers as fodder so they don't quit playing after getting reamed by SWF's.
Honestly will they EVER do anything for Solo Q or do they just want us gone completely? Idk anymore. I only play once a week now b/c it just feels bad to play anymore not being in an SWF. But I still liked that one day a week.
-
Sorry to be that guy, but how did they nerf CoH and boil Over now?
Is this a 2nd nerf to CoH? And did they revert Boil Over to being useless again?
I haven't had to time to go searching for the info.
-
Killers aren't obligated to do anything if a survivor DC's. But from personal experience as a Solo queue survivor, it's bloody absurd to see the Killer still facecamp/camp/tunnel the next survivor they find after an early d/c. It's just bad sportsmanship imo.
-
That kind of turns it into a crappified version of Off The Record.
No one would use it anymore. Though I assume that would be the point lol.
-
They're just junk. Like the other 50% of sheer junk that BHVR makes us wade through on the bloodweb. Even keys are near useless now and yet cost a ton of BPs.
List of junk we waste BPs on:
- Reagents
- Brown tool boxes
- Green maps
- Keys (matter of opinion- but they shouldn't cost so many BPs anymore imo)
- Key add ons (b/c no one uses keys much anymore)
- Hatch offerings (if no one uses keys, why bother? The Killer will know exactly where the hatch is, and even if you brought a key, Killer will just stand on top of the hatch)
- Brown Chalk pouches (even yellow ones- do they do anything?)
- Bloodied Blueprint
- Torn Blueprint
I think getting a survivor/killer to Prestige 3 should remove most of the crap brown offerings from ones blood web.
-
I only play DBD on weekends with booze. When you're tipsy you don't care as much lol.
-
Am I the only one who loves it? LOL. I LOVE the Japanese Ringu franchise and find Sadako genuinely creepy. I love her animations, how she starts face down on the ground. Maybe it's because I play Solo Q and many times team mates don't know how to go against her yet but she's popped out of nowhere and jumpscared me quite a bit.
I'm still seeing her enough. Way more than I see Pinhead and Artist (tho I really like the Artist visually).

Solo Survivor is pretty much how I play the game constantly. I don't have any DbD friends and no one seems to add each other from SOLOQ ever, so... I enjoy it for the most part, it keeps the horror element of the game going when I'm solo q
Same!

@Kuinzu said:
Survivors do come with their own issues, and I think it's the toxic sides of both roles that lead players to constantly use meta perks. For example, Survivors don't want to be tunnelled or camped so they use DS/DH to prevent them from happening. Killers don't want Survivors to constantly blind them or crouch spam when they stun Killers or get to the exit gates, so they use lightborn/NOED.
Solo survivor has always been the bottom rung of importance to Devs. Then Killer. Where as SWF is their darling cash cow.
I think 4 man SWFs can absolutely obliterate Killers who aren't really advanced and experienced. Coms and the ability to plan, strategize before hand, organize perks/items etc is an insane advantage. SWF's can also be cocky and show it (not all, but you know the ones). Killer in turn might have no choice but to tunnel one person out to have a shot.
Enter casual Solo queue (moi and company lol). I think some mid-tier Killers learn these tactics from streamers or whatnot, and use the same method. It is so easy for a Killer to win if they face-camp the fist survivor downed against Solos. Many Solo survivors being camped at the beginning opt for the 3 min penalty and D/C. I am so tired of the 3 vs 1. . Yesterday I had a Freddy so determined to tunnel me out he literally chased me all game and then facecamped. And I mean i could see up his nostrils he was so close to me. It was a rare match where my team mates knew what was going on, and despite knowing they could all run out the gate, they tried to make the rescue (team mates all coming to rescue me? It's like winning the Solo queue lottery it's so rare. One had BT and though they mobbed behind me, Freddy still went for me. He downed me again, postured, did cocky gestures, and DS got me out.
So yep. I can't play a game where I don't bring BT or DS. It would be foolish not to. I'd love to try other perks, but at the same, I'd like to have a shot at playing the match I waited for LOL. I know Killers feel the same about some gen regression/gen control perks.

Just thought of a few more:
The Invitation
The Ritual
The Endless
-
Unofrtunately I can't watch Babadook or Hereditary because gosh darn it Im so tired of dogs dying :(.
-
I'm a huge Horror movies fan, But I might have different taste than you.
Looking at your list, I wonder if you'd like "It Follows", "Ready or Not", "Light's Out"
Others that are good but not quite your genre and if you don't mine subtitles:
Gonjiam Haunted Asylum (South Korean- REAL creepy)
The Wailing (slow burn, but excellent acting and hard to anticipate ending)
Creep (no subs, its english and also amusing- great acting)
The Girl with All the Gifts ( from UK)
-
I use Lithe instead.
I'll show myself out and sit with the mediocre survivors lol.
-
I never use keys now. I hate having to spend 7k BPs on the bloodweb for an "ultra rare key" when it's basically less useful than a yellow tool box.
Though I can totally understand the problem it was to have a 4 man key escape as it was before, as a Solo survivor I kind of miss the idea of having a chance to save a team mate. I'm thinking about those times when there are only 2 survivors left and seemingly no hope, but if I could just locate that survivor and get them to sneak with me, we'd do the impossible.
Now the keys are just trash (imo). I have a ton of them piling up in my inventory. Devs really sucked all the magic out of them. And now that the hatch doesn't even appear unless there is only one survivor left, it's almost impossible to get a hatch escape against so many high mobility Killers. They always find it first, and you have no chance at the door either.
-
AH yes. Another USELESS perk now. Thanks BHVR. Meta stays the exact same.
I wasn't even using Boil Over and only saw it occasionally, but much like Lucky Strike, when people ######### and moan, the perk gets gutted into obscurity.
BS company.
-
It's a hideous Trickster skin. Looks like something from Midsummer's Night Dream meets demonic kindergarten craft class.
Don't see any hate behind it, just bad taste lol.
It's kind of like their new "Baba Yaga" skin for Huntress. I'm Russian. In no way does that skin give off Baba Yaga. It gives off French circus clown. Doesn't mean I think anyone at BHVR hates Russians.
-
It was a bug that they released Twitch shirts to everyone who has Jane. You weren't supposed to get it.
-
Might be an unpopular statement, but even as a Solo survivor I d/c if I see an RPD offering because I know it will be a gong show. Either a Pig and I get to start with a trap on my head and no way to see the Jigsaw boxes, or else, the Killer will camp, and now- if I'm a fourth in an SWF a long drawn out game with Boil Over.
Ii If just happen to get the RPD map, I deal with it but if I see the offering I just nope on out.
-
Yeah the Boil Over fiasco is resulting in some really crappy team mates.
Had a Steve in Grim Pantry running it + Flip Flop and he did absolutely nothing else all game. He went into one of the structures upper floor and all of us picked him up at least once. We did all the gens, had 2 survivors on hooks, he opens the gates and immediately runs out. Didn't even try to help even though one of them was hooked right by him and the Killer was chasing me.
But hey, according to Behaviour, he's the skilled one, and the two that died deserve their MMR to drop.
-
@dugman said:
You should have said "I want a good perk that prevents survivors in the dying state from going through the exits", because like everybody above said there's already a bad perk that does it (Bloodwarden).
It's not the best perk, but once in awhile, when the stars align and the gods smile upon you, Blood Warden can be a beautiful thing.
-
I tried to play a few matches today and I simply couldn't stomach it anymore. So many Killers were camping and tunneling from the start of the game.
Had a Ghostface not even let a David leave the hook (his first down at 4 gens). Poor David must have only been able to play for 2 minutes tops. The Killer was teabagging everyone he facecamped.
So though I'd love to stop running BT and Decisive, in Solo queue both perks are essential if you want to have any semblence of a game. I can't not run them.
The Ghostface said he was face-camping in all his matches to punish any survivors who try Boil Over. I checked after the match and only one person was running it and it wasn't even a good map for it.
-
I tried the Boil Over perk and eventually unequipped it. I agree it's very situational. I think it helped me once on Badham and overall wasn't worth it.
For Killers worried about people using it to be annoying, I think we'll see a surge of that and then it will die off as soon as the kiddies get bored.

It's true, I just don't know why it's true.
Again, my theory is more mature players at certain times of day. The worst time imo is between 5pm and 9pm and gets bad around noon on weekends. I think it corresponds to how many kids are playing. INB4- not saying that all really young teens are bad or anything. Some are probably incredibly skilled. But I notice the levels of altruism fall the more kids are playing randoms. The camping/tunneling goes up. If I get caught being the fourth wheel in 3 man SWF's where every Feng is dressed in her Manic Pixie Pastel Kitty girl cosmetic and they make rash, stupid decisions lol.
I'm sure I've offended at least someone with this opinion, so just to throw it out there- anyone can feel free to disagree with me lol.

I actually find this really ironic; when there's a larger volume of survivors, you're matched with worse players than when there's less of them.
It's true though. When I have a day off and manage to play in the morning, my matches are way better. Far better team mates. Sometimes I wonder if it's because it the late afternoon DBD gets bombarded by the after school crowd.

There is a killer called "Hag"?
Jokes aside, when you face it don't give him any satisfaction. Don't condemn them, don't try to belittle them to use hacks. Just, don't talk to them. Just move to another game. And if you happen to find a survivor one, ignore him or, even better, go to the basement, face a wall and wait for them to finish the gens and get out (look at something else in the meantime).
Don't give them attention, they feed with that. More attention you give to them (in chat and ingame), more inclined they will be to cheat again. This is what us common player can do right now.
I'm on console, so it's not like we have end game chat.
The ones I encounter have slugged everyone (speed hacks, teleporting hags, flying) and left everyone to bleed out. Can't even disconnect otherwise I get a penalty.
I've also been in a match where a survivor and Killer were working together, and they did something where they both simultaneously disconnected, and all survivors regardless of is they died (and me who escaped) got a 34 minute disconnect penalty (all of us, exactly 34 mins).
-
You mean the Hag isn't supposed to be able to fly? /sarcasm.
After about 9 mos of not seeing any notable hackers, in the past 8 weeks I've encountered 3 flying Hags.
-
After years of complaining how Killers camping and tunneling out a survivor at 5 gens is incredibly frsutrating, and the Devs themselves acknowledging how it decimates Solo queue matches, of course they came up with a system that rewards this kind of behaviour.
In Solo queue, basing it on escapes has lead to a drop in altruism and an increase in incedibly selfish play. I've seen survivors completely and totally screw over team mates. Lots of leaving people to die on their first hook, and in end game stats, these same people have done the least in the entire match.
To Patrick, that's "skill".
-
These videos were borderline therapeutic for me lol.
That being said, not every instance he complained about is an issue. I run Boon; Shadowstep w/CoH a lot. There are times I've saved team mates by putting up a Boon where they're looping allowing them to mind game the Killer more efficiently.
Other than that, Solo queue is the Clown world of DBD

Keep living in your bubble. 🙄
Technically my Trickster is "OP" because i win more than i lose with him. Then you look at what the survivors are doing and they just sit there on the gen and let me get close, Then they just hold W and let me land all my knives for a quick down. They don't understand how to use tall structures to waste copious amounts of my time or to run early when the lullaby starts playing .
Eventually i get a team with a combined 20k hours (i am not even kidding or spitting hyperbole) and at best i can land 2 or 3 knives between all the trees and junk they keep between us as i chase, while always running away super early. They never run in a straight line and do a quick side step as they run that doesn't seem to slow them down at all but makes the majority of my knives miss.
Body blocking is also common amongst good survivors. as seen here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcRZ7BMFGn4
Killers win when the survivors are severely below their level.
That video: That looks like a very coordinated SWF.
I think the reigning hierarchy of crappiness in DBD still remains: SWF---------------------------->Killer-->Solo queue.
SWF's has such a crazy advantage it's insane. My Solo queue matches are a gong show.
-
I don't understand what the skin has to do with Baba Yaga. I remember suggesting Baba Yaga as a Killer on this forum a year ago. My partner and I are Russian and..Baba Yaga is like, over 2,000 years old, always looks like a babooshka. Yet they made Huntress sound like a 17 year old girl dressed as a french clown LOL. I know BHVR has issues with female characters over 35 though.
Don't get me wrong, I still can appreciate the cosmetic itself, I like that they're adding new things, but I'm kind of disappointed it's not really Baba Yaga :[ . It was a missed opportunity for something really cool.
-
"The point of the thread is that I do seem to find that nearly every single match I'm having to really sweat just to get 3-4k most games."
But I mean, do you expect to 4k with little to no effort every game? Because that isn't really balanced either.
-
My friend was running it and didn't have a clue it had been buffed or any of the drama surrounding it. Was in Badham, and she got slugged in the basement of the school (the basement with the hooks was in the shack). The Legion couldn't get her out of the basement w/o her wriggling off, so he left her slugged and camped her until she bled out while everyone else left (after making noble efforts to save her). Legion was pretty sore about it.
