The thing is, the game has had competition - whether or not those games had strong playerbases or not, they were competition, but for one reason or another those games didn't last in the same way that DbD has.
Whatever faults you believe that DbD has, you can't say it's due to lack of competition, as the competition has come and gone and just hasn't been as successful as DbD is.
I mean I guess you can consider games like Predator Hunting Grounds competition, but that game just died out utterly quick. Competition to me is when a new game comes out, that's getting a whole lot of positive reviews and getting tons of people invested into it. That's a game that I would consider a threat
-
@Pulsar said:
Probably not.
Every time people say "this game will kill DBD" it fizzles out in like a month.
The only game that provided any competition was F13, and we all saw how that ended.
Blame the lawsuit for that

I myself as well used to like playing Spirit, until yeah you clearly start seeing how easy she is and how she has no counterplay. Honestly after Freddy gets hopefully somewhat of his old mechanics back, I'd say Spirit needs to be on the list of killers who need to be looked at. Because her biggest issue has always been that you basically have to play guessing games just to make the right move, and if the Spirit you're going against has good ears then gg. There's simply nothing fair about that at all
-
Gotta go with the face of the game, and I can only wonder what his Final Smash would be.
-
Expect it around the Anniversary Event, which will be in June.
-
Wonder how long it's gonna take them to update all the models for survivors and killers? Pretty much has taken them a year with these graphical map reworks, gonna take another year for all of these?
-
The tint to the maps are just an ugly green is all I'll say
-
Sounds like you need a break
-
PC Survivors are garbage to me because some of them like to hack, or a lot of them fail miserably at trying to tech. This was when I actually had cross play back on, turned it off because hackers are so afraid of getting exposed for how bad they are without their precious hacks.
-
Now that's what I call an OP build
-
Oni, the guy literally rips your tongue out and whacks you after with his kanobo.
-
At the moment it would have to be playing on Pallet Plant, because someone at BHVR decided to add tons of god pallets to this map. And every chase is basically break pallet after pallet simulator 101
-
They also have a practice mode as well by the way, that lets them go against bots for practice. You know how long people have wanted this for the main game? Instead we have to get tons of overpriced set outfits, and every update breaking the game in some way.
-
Honestly when they do touch keys I just want it to where a survivor can't open the hatch after it's been close by the killer, closing the damn thing is pointless when the last survivor just randomly finds a key and can open it in front of your face.
-
Dead Hard + Decisive + Rank 1 is the usual salty survivor for me. Like cocky survivors really think they're the best at this game, when in actuality they got carried by second chance perks.
-
Trapper is a very add on dependent killer, and I would say the most. Because starting out with just one trap is very punishing, and that's why you see everyone running extra traps add ons. Wraith is finally getting Windstorm basekit, and Billy got reworked last year. Trapper has been in a very desperate need of quality of life changes for awhile, it's seriously not that hard to give him Trapper Bag basekit.
-
Ranks don't equal anything to skill, it just means you decided to invest your time into this game and decided you want to make it to red ranks. That was my goal at first, but since that was two years ago being a red ranks don't mean anything. Being rank 1 on survivor and killer doesn't really mean anything, and ranks won't mean anything until we have the rank rewards once MMR officially comes out.

I don't think both sides agreed ruin+undying was boring. In fact many M1 killers loved that combo because it took a lot of pressure off them so they could enjoy the match.
Both sides did agree Nurse add ons were OP and had to be reworked but look how that turned out. Thank you devs -.-
Love the FF8 reference. Been a long time since I played that game. I don't even remember that quote.
Had this image for about a month, and forgot about it so I had use for it.

Favorites: DeathSlinger, Demo, Clown, Hag, and Oni.
Least Favorites: Twins, Spirit, Freddy, Legion, and Pyramid Head.
These are listed as my favorites, and least favorites to play as.

@Phasmamain said:
I just wish more people would play both sides.
Thankfully someone like me plays both sides equally, and can see the bs this game has. When I play survivor I don't stack second chance perks, because it's honestly boring. As for killer I should be allowed to play how I feel, because there's no rulebook telling me how I should play killer. At the end of the day it's a video game, but it's a video game that has so much potential to be better.

"Freddy being quite boring to go against"
How dare you call my babe "boring"? I will hunt you in your Dreams for that!
On a more serious note, I agree with you. But I don't know how to unite killer mains and survivor mains, it sounds like an impossible task.
Turn them into a robots, and put chips in them. And make them obey your orders, hell we should be doing that to BHVR.

I go through phases with games. Recently been loving World War Z again, as it’s just so fun shooting hordes of zombies lol. I also recently downloaded Remnant: From the Ashes as it was free on the PlayStation Store and I’m enjoying that a lot too. I always end back up on DBD, but I do find myself taking breaks.
I can only tolerate DBD about four days a week sometimes even less, the game is fun but it's moreso just not enjoyable to play when you've basically hit your peak at the game.
-
@Zaytex said:
Yeah, I'm losing interest in playing killer at the minute. Matches are sweaty to even get a decent result and when I'm on survivor, it's just a yawn against any killer who isn't Nurse, Spirit or Freddy.. and when it is them, it's miserable.
Think I'll take a break until Trickster revives the killer role for me, because its very stale right now.
Game tends to get stale after new chapters/mid chapters come out, I just wish there was more to survivor instead of it being looping 24/7. Game modes on DBD would be fun, but BHVR simply doesn't think it can work.

I’ll have to check the new Fall Guys update out! I haven’t played that game in so long but I did really enjoy it. It was just some mindless fun and I loved my slurpee cosmetic!
Been playing Fall Guys since it came out, the amount of fun I have is just endless on that game.
-
Kate because she's a literal waifu, and probably one of the most beautiful video game characters I've ever seen. Yeah I simp pretty hard for video game characters, I was born a simp.
Clown because I just love being as annoying as possible to survivors, and love it when I go against some bully squads and end up stomping them with Clown. Plus he's a very underrated killer.
-
I'm done playing fair honestly, the gloves are basically off when it comes to those god complex survivors. Play however you would like to, and if the survivors get salty then you know you did a good job. Must not feel good to them when the shoe is on the other foot, but it's fine for them to "bully".
-
Yeah Tru3 definitely struggles with Clown from what I've seen, from what I watch he tends to spam his bottles quite a bit when playing Clown. Tru3 also isn't good at Hag, because she simply doesn't fit the mold of how he enjoys playing killer. Otz isn't exactly the best at Doctor, and he admits that he's not the best with Huntress, DeathSlinger, and Blight.
-
Corporate greed at it's finest
-
He desperately needs a rework, the game keeps evolving and he gets even more outdated. He's fun to play even though he's quite weak
-
Would have been nice if they would tell us when they're releasing the new chapter, instead of having to make a Fog Whisperer tell us it got delayed.

Isn't it funny that they have a few community managers, but you never even see them on this forum anymore? Maybe once in a blue moon you see one pop in here to answer a non-important thread, but that's it.
These community managers were way more active, but now they are non-existent.
Note: Nothing personal against the person behind the title. It's just an observation from my end.
It's mainly just the mods on the forums now

Your note about Trickster being one note is exactly why I like him. His power is more simple compared to other Killers and I don't have to put too much brain power in when playing as him, that's just a playstyle preference. Like how I enjoy Leather face and Demogorgon because their powers are relatively straightforward and simple. Blight requires big brain bounces and timing to hit people consistently, Nurse needs a ton of training practise and map knowledge/survivor move predictions. I prefer simple straight forward Killers. Even then, definitions of straight forward Killers may vary between people.
I believe BHVR have chosen this strange middle ground between not being transparent yet still trying to keep people informed, but in the most minimalistic way possible. They give us the bare minimum information outside of concrete dates. They will typically let us know when something is about to come out, but stray from that (like now with a fog whisperer letting us know the update is postponed to next week or later) occasionally. They need to either dedicate communication to being transparent, or stick to their guns and give us no information about upcoming content unless they know for absolute certain that it is accurate and correct.
Complete transparency would not be perfect. Even if they set solid dates, and then had to correct themselves and tell the community that content has been delayed, unreasonable people would still be mad, or those that took time off for a release that BHVR themselves "set in stone".
A complete lack of transparency would also not be perfect. Doing this would give people less time to prepare for a release, and would leave excitement and anticipation floating in the air. However, if BHVR fully dedicated to this stance and made an official statement on it, the "no transparency" approach could work well enough if they aren't confident in being transparent.
something along the lines of,
"We have decided that it is in the best interest of our community, that we withhold information regarding upcoming releases until it is known for certain that the information we give is completely accurate and assured to meet the deadline. We do not want to mislead the community and cause distrust, so we feel that is is for the best to only inform you when we feel it is the right time to do so. From now on, when an update is ready to be released, we will let you know. Do not expect updates to be released on any day other than when we announce it. We hope you understand our stance and our reasoning. See you in the fog"
Pretty much worded what they could have told us perfectly

In all fairness there was never a release date given to us and it was just speculation but I do have to admit the communication between the devs and player base is getting steadily worse. I mean remember when the god awful animations and UI was first implemented and they were silent for ages.
Least they fixed it, but their communication definitely is still not the best.

I was ready to play my buff up main (wraith) but since it not coming I will finish so my challenges and have a break. The game is too stressful on me and it is affect me in the most negative way.
Yeah I'll take a break as well once I get these remaining challenges done, only have six left to do. I just don't know how someone can even play this game everyday, and not feel like they need a break. Like I didn't even really want to get on DBD yesterday, but did it for the reasons I stated above. I was honestly more excited to get on Fall Guys once I was playing yesterday, and man that new update is impressive.

No to be fair, he's actually very good at the game, both killer and survivor. His ego gets annoying sometimes though, anytime he plays against a tough team, he accuses them of being sweaty, when the sound of his voice starts getting faster and anxious lol. Everybody that plays good = sweaty.
He also criticizes some people for doing tactics as survivor or killer, but then you catch him at times doing the same tactics. And as mentioned, if he's getting destroyed by a team, oh this map is good for survivors, oh these perks I have are not optimum, oh Survivor goals are much easier and quicker to finish. There's always an excuse lol. Honestly I'd be less harsh on the guy, if he got destroyed by a team and just said, these guys were very good, well played. But there's always an excuse for getting outplayed.
Credit to him though, he still posts those videos on youtube :-P
Honestly he needs a break from the game, but he won't ever take one because of his audience. They simp so much for a game they can't bear to play at times, but still play it regardless. I just recently saw Tru3 was playing Fall Guys again, and it seemed like he was actually in a good mood to play something else for a change. Like I used to enjoy watching his content, he actually helped me get good at the game. What turned me away from him was the constant complaining, him never wanting to admit to his mistakes, expressing his ego quite a bit, and acting toxic towards people when even he is against toxicity. Tru3 is actually watchable when he's not playing Dead By Daylight, but once he plays the game I just don't want to see his content honestly. He's probably a nice guy in real life, but for someone who's about to be 34 he acts very childish when he's on DBD.

@Mooks said:
To be fair, even if they communicate with us that toxic part of the community ignores these statements and still complaints about no communications.
it’s a lose/lose scenario for BHVR.
also Twitter guy/gal is awesome.
Even though yeah the community gets toxic about things, there is things that they will be right about. Cause yeah we do understand the game more than the devs do themselves.

They make a routine of releasing patch after 3 weeks when they release the ptb so they should've thought that people would expect it to release today and inform people that it not releasing.
They should tell us when it will be release so that people would expect the release date from their twitter.
If people expect the patch today and people are getting disappointed then they're doing something very wrong and I hope they do something about instead of ignoring it like the rest of the problems
I literally had my challenges that I haven't claimed the bloodpoints from, and dailes yet to be claimed ready for this chapter. But looks like I'll have to wait another week, guess I'll just try to finish the remaining challenges I have left and get them ready for next week.

They have a lead community manager, a huge team of community managers, another team of ACM's then a ton of mods. And they say nothing. Every 1.5 months they make a post about the new update and that's it. Their communication was insanely better(actually anything is better than 0) when they had no community managers and it was just Mathieu and Dave live streaming every week.
Man those were some good times, sadly the communication doesn't mean anything anymore since newer people came in and took over.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
The communication from BHVR is piss poor and having to use fog whisperers to convey very basic information relating to an official release on new content is also, piss poor. At this stage in the games history I would expect much, much better from them. I'm a consumer who has literally put £100's into the game, from DLC to cosmetics, but that stopped with last years Halloween event.
The majority of BHVR do not care about us, they care about our wallets. The art, sound, design departments are really the only parts of BHVR that I can genuinely praise.
I love the game, and that's why IT'S SO DAMN FRUSTRATING when the developers seem so complacent to let it sink, all in the name of money. They will bleed the game and it's player base dry until it's gone and they move on to the next project, if it's even successful. If they were smart, they would give up short term profits to rebuild the game from the ground up and set it up for years of seamless future updates, but instead they are willing to let it sit and fester in bugs. As long as it works and it generates revenue, who cares about the bugs and performance?
Sure, this delay is one event, but I've been here for years. False promises, bug ridden patches, poor community communication, monetisation...I could go on. We, the community, are expected to sit back and just accept whatever they give us. The most I can do as a consumer of the game is play it without spending any more money on it, because I love it, I do NOT love the developers. My respect for them left long ago. It sounds harsh, but it's because I care about the game and ideally don't want it to die like Evolve and Battleborn did, two games I loved and miss dearly.
Don't worry about being harsh, it's criticism that they need to accept and look at their mistakes. Like I would totally love to get the Minotaur cosmetic for Oni, but I want to see actual good reasonable updates to convince me to buy the overpriced set cosmetics. I know not spending money on any outfits will do anything to them in the long run, since they make tons of money anyway which won't hurt them in the slightest. Because there's still people who spend their money on this game, even though they have a huge toxic relationship with the game. But yet they still simp for outfits, and will continue to keep doing the same cycle over and over again. If I feel like getting outfits, it's just gonna be done with shards honestly.
-
I'll recommend Bronx and Umbra, two very good streamers who are actually solid at the game and don't have to find excuses to be made for why they lose. Umbra basically acknowledges the game for being a game, and doesn't take it seriously as to how much Tru3 does.
-
@Rizzo said:
We never officially confirmed a release date of the DLC.
But why is it so hard to tell people we delayed the chapter for so and so reasons? The lack of communication is getting beyond annoying at this point, it honestly feels like we the fans don't exist sometimes...
-
I really hope that this delay until next week is going to be towards making improvements for Trickster, but I think it's best we all keep our expectations very low right now since BHVR has a tendency to release updates that clearly suck and didn't need to be released. Examples the horrendous 2020 Halloween Event, and the Binding of Bugs chapter.
-
I'm pretty sure they start submitting approval to PlayStation and Xbox after the PTB's come out
-
SWF is literal ez mode if you're playing with three other people who are as good as you, and the communication they have is what really breaks the game. MMR won't be fun for people if all they go against is those teams who are just unbeatable, but maybe the devs might see the issues and hopefully could address this if the MMR actually goes as planned.
