  • Slug the brave one, search the map, use the brave as bait.

If they get the brave one up and disappear. Slug the brave one again, rinse and repeat .

  • I play the perks I think will give me the best chance to win and has synergy with the killer's power.

However when I play survivor, I do like to play at least one perk from that character. So my Tapp has Detective's hunch, My Feng has Alert, etc.

I will use other teachables, but i like having at least one of their own perks in my survivor builds. IDK it is just fun for me.

  • I guess it is all in your perspective and how long you plan to play the game. I have almost all characters P3 and have unlocked every perk. But that is just me.

I like being able to play any build i want.

It is really how much do you want to grind.

I mean it's nice but I just don't find it optimal. It's the same reason I stopped running it on pyramid head. I've gotten grabs with pyramid head and it's hysterical but spine chill is meta enough I don't find it reliable.

I think the only person I have it on is leatherface (along with pop) because he just 1 shots you if he closes the gap and then you pop the gen for another tinkerer proc. And I know you can achieve the same result with ruin undying but I don't like leaving half my perks to RNG. Or having to dodge lobbies because there is a map.

I can understand that. I just have so much time with Spirit I could play her without perks. I have mained her since she came out. And that is one of the reasons I put her on the bench, she is very strong and people will constantly DC against her.

But I may end up switching the build, will probably put her back on the bench soon. I am just having so much fun being so strong with her right now.

I don't see why you would use tinkerer on spirit because even when she is undetectable they can still hear you phasing up to the generator. Unless you are just walking up to it but you may as well have monitor if you are going to do that.

Don't forget the notifications at 70%.

It makes it easier to control gennys, also sneak up get first hit. Or grabs. Grabs with tinkerer have been amazing.

Then a quick phase to down them. And you just had a 5 second chase.

That almost doesn't count. You can play nice as nurse or spirit, freddy, oni, etc. The super strong killers can afford to do it. But I don't play them often, I usually find them too easy to play into solo Qs.

I play the M1 killers mainly, and it's just not possible to play nice with them against opponents of equal skill level. I put very little weight into stall perks because against a true genrush team they are not going to help you at all. The 20 seconds of regression from pop is hardly going to be worth the time to even walk to a gen and kick it. I'd rather run perks to end the chases as fast as possible, and help me power through BT/DS if needed.

I hate ruin undying. It is strong, but RNG. I still had games where both totems are dead in under a minute, and I never used it again after that.

Like I said,I just broke her out of retirement.

I have been playing wraith recently and having fun.

But was kinda curious of how strong this would be on her.

Also with discordance and tinkerer. Even losing both hexes early, I still get a lot of notifications.

Facecamping is a rarity because I normally lobby dodge if there are 4 survivors with flashlights or if I know they're a swf.

I think what I dislike about killer is that the first games are super easy because the survivors a quite new, don't know how to loop and getting a 4k is easy but then as I rank up the games are less rewarding and way more stressful. I wish I could just dodge the mean messages on xbox because I don't see why people feel the need to tell someone they're bad

Killer is definitely the harder role. I swf and drink bourbon all night as survivor and just have fun.

As killer I play sober and can't lie, I am sweaty. But I will adjust to my competitors, if they suck, I chill a bit.

But the only way to get better is to keep fighting and trying.

I disagree with that logic. I play at rank 1 with ~6000 hours and I facecamp on the regular. I camp, slug, and tunnel any time it is beneficial for me to do so. It is a zero sum game.

The survivors don't spawn on the hook, the hooks are earned. The game has been out for 4 years now and people still act like generators can't be finished within 5 minutes while survivors equip up to 16 extra lives.

I literally have games where I lose my first generator for a 10 second chase. I had it happen today. Spawn in, walk across the map, hit someone. They dumb tech me and I have enduring, so I just grab them (I love the dumb tech so much, free hooks) and by the time I bring them to a hook the first gen is done. I'm instantly in a defensive posture after that, because I know it's a gen rushing team (nothing wrong with that btw) and need to play accordingly.

I understand the struggle, as I am also a rank 1.

But, I don't facecamp. I don't go out of my way to tunnel, but if you run in front of me I am hitting you.

Honestly I just recently broke my spirit out of retirement. I wanted to see the new ruin, undying, tinkerer build. I haven't lost a game with her yet.

I know she is strong regardless. You can still lose two gennys very early. But then they just all die with 3 gens left instead of 5.

That is why I put discordance on over bbq even tho I miss my bloodpoints. Now I constantly know where everyone is.

Read my reasoning for it, and that's not the point of the post

I read your reasoning, you cant defend toxicity with toxicity.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

    Golden rule.

Anywho, you want to get better with a new killer, do what many of us do.

Take the early L's and keep readying up. You will get better.

And dont let survivors tilt you. Hook the clicky tbaggers and go hunt down their friends. You won't get better face camping.

  • You lost me at facecamp!

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

Your real goal is self actualization and reaching a Zen like state of calm. This is achieved through constant suffering.

    That is hilarious!!

  • @ClickyClicky said:

The funniest moments are when a survivor relies on second chances all game, gets a narrow escape only due to a perk and then post game they brag about how good they are despite the fact that were literally carried the entire game.

    Yeah, exactly.

You didn't get outplayed, you got outperked

  • @AvisDeene said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1682464#Comment_1682464

Face camping is okay when you do it to someone that you caught after a long toxic chase. I did it the other day to a Dwight who loved to vault spam non stop just to annoy me and get me to chase him. He wanted my attention and I gave it to him. But rather than face him, I stood next to him facing away from the hook so he could see my face as the entity took him.

I will do the same to anyone who t-bags and points every time they get a pallet stun on me. Like, yeah, I know, you got me, you don't have to rub it in, but if you insist, I will do the same.

Yeah, what is the meaning behind the point at pallets? I always thought they were telling me to chase someone else.

  • Tunneling is real, there are many killers for whom it is not a tactic but a strategy. Sometimes I have to completely give myself up to get them to stop tunneling a teammate. And even then they just leave me slugged on the ground and chase the other survivor to their death hook.

But at the same time, for many killers, there just isn't a lot of time. Sure there are some great killers that can be a bit "nicer" in their play styles because of how skilled they are. But many others are just learning/perfecting their game and don't have that ability.

Also if you do choose to ignore a recently unhooked survivor and chase the healthy rescuer , and do this four times through a full stack of BBQ, well you probably just lost 5 gennys.

The problem is really the gen rush/no heal meta gives killers very little time to waste. And often taking the first target you see and the quickest way to a 3v1, is the best odds to swing a momentum in the killer's favor.

My question is, if camping and tunneling were somehow completely eliminated, would survivors be willing to do 6 gennys or add say 20 seconds of gen time to each genny?

  • Yeah I had MoriandIcloseapp as my name. It was about 50/50 if I would see a mori or not. Although I did see a whole lot of Judith's Tombstone Myers, which I thought was pretty creative.

  • I just kill em all before the EGC, then they have very little time for tea bags

  • It is hit or miss for me. Some nights I get great maps all night. Other nights , it's like 3 Haddonfields in a row, no offering.

Same as survivor. Those are the nights I love the triple Haddonfield.

  • @ABannedCat said:

Its also pretty nuts on Nurse (if you know your blinks).

Sadly I dont see this meta staying up for long, since developers tend to nerf killer meta perks (looking at you old Ruin).

Ah yes, I bet it is nasty on Nurse as well. I am not great with Nurse.

I have wondered about the Nerf of Undying. If anything it should just be the aura reading. But we will see.

  • It would be a lot more fun for killers!!

  • I feel this would be too strong. Most survivors would still not heal and concentrate on gennys, however now they would have that self care in their back pocket for emergency situations.

So maybe two survivors left, they finish last gen, you get one on hooked, normally the other is going to leave. But now they can go hide, self heal, return with BT and possibly DS and you just turned a 3k into a 2k.

  • I am not sure if it needs a nerf or not. I run Tapp in a swf so we can get totems pretty regularly.

I think it depends on the killer using this build.

I recently unlocked it, and tried the old Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer build on Spirit. I haven't lost a game with this build, albeit, I don't lose a lot with Spirit to begin with.

But I was curious to how powerful it would be on my Sweaty Spirit Build. It's pretty nasty.

For moris to get nerfed/removed. I made a post a couple months ago about how moris should be reworked and a dev replied saying that they would look into fixing keys and moris sometime. I just hope that it doesn’t take until next year for them to do this. As someone that played only SWF and now only plays solo que, moris are so so broken... I get so sick and tired and occasionally make a deep sigh ever time I see that black offering on the offering screen to the point where I just dodge them now. I don’t wanna explain into this to much but yeah I think that keys are unfair as well but you need to do a certain amount of gens and have a certain amount of survivors alive in order to use them. But please devs, hopefully you can rework moris soon.

So sorry my friend, but as many of us know, it is always a Mori Christmas! I would recommend not playing on Christmas day, although it may last about a week.

And @PigMainClaudette Throw in some Bourbon and you have a perfect Christmas there!

  • Our SWF is me, 42, my wife 39 and our daughter 22. Our Fourth is usually someone we have met through gaming, Ironically often killers we have faced and enjoyed a good conversation with. They range from 19 to 36.

You have to be 18+ in our SWF.

  • Did you restart the app before playing? It may only be a visual glitch on your end. Once you restart the app it may show your true rank.

  • Lore wise the goal of killer is to toy with and hook survivors. Slowly eroding their hope of survival.

But play for your own win conditions and you will have more fun, maybe not pips tho.

  • Sounds like the mm is working. You are sliding back to where you belong.

A rank 10 killer is equivalent skill to a rank 6 survivor, considering skill needed to play killer.

If you want to get better, you need to face better competitors. Embrace the challenge and you will improve.

Or say ######### rank and play for your own win conditions.

Killer is harder than I thought! I always feel bad if survivors end up escaping and then the bad feeling just gets worse so I play worse 8(

I'm taking to watching Otz but I don't know who else to watch because I'm a survivor main, my main issue is pressuring gens and missing during my chases (I'm not sure what you mean by macro play, please explain!)

    Watch fungoose for learning.

And longlivmac if you just want to have some fun and be part of a family.

  • Sounds like in those 3 examples you gave us, the killers were having fun!

Because when someone gets unhooked you know that there are at least two survivors in the area. So why would you run off to another area, especially if you don't even know if survivors are there in the first place.

I go after those I see on BBQ, or those I have found on another genny or in tracking. I do not immediately turn around and go back to the hook when the notification goes off.

Not judging if you do, just not my style. Ofcourse if no one is on BBQ and you save him 3 seconds after I left the hook, well then that is to the detriment of the team.

  • @SMitchell8 said:

I ll hit whoever is closest to me when I return to an unhook. If the unhooked player runs into my path, im not going to bloody ignore them.

My question is why do so many killers just return to the hook now? Remember when you used BBQ and crossed the map to catch a new survivor?

Returning to the hook has become the thing to do, which obviously is going to increase "tunneling".

I understand the whole that's where the bait is argument. However we aren't fishing, we are hunting.

  • I understand how frustrating camping/tunneling can be. Although camping doesn't bother me as much as there are ways around it. Tunneling annoys me more, but I do understand it, and as others have stated, the counter to tunneling is good looping.

My question would be what do you suggest killers do in the current meta? Gennys can go so fast, so the tactics that killers use have changed, if they indeed want to try to pip.

So here is a question for survivors, even tho many won't answer it.

Would you accept 6 gennys needed to open exit gates if camping/tunneling could be completely eliminated?

  • When I first started it was more solos, more healing, less gen rush, and killers therefore took pride in being a good killer using the so called "survivor rule book."

But the meta shifted to survivors rushing through gennys, not wasting time healing , more swfs, which resulted in less time for the killer to actually play the game, get hooks, patrol gennys. And of course after playing by the rule book, it was just constant locker spamming at the exit gates to ensure the survivors got to tbag on their way out.

As such, newer killers where told, throw out that rulebook and play to win. And behavior conditioned killers that to win, pip, they needed a steady average of 4k games.

So, now we have the sweat fest that is today.

I always ask, but no one ever answers.

Could we as killers accept less kills, if we were awarded pips for being more interactive, more hooks, more chases and such?

  • I love Thrilling, however, throw on a pudding and it's always triple bloodpoints

  • It is not tunneling as a tactic to swing momentum that is bothersome. But when a killer enters a match knowing full well they will be tunneling the first survivor they catch right out of the game., and then each subsequent survivor they catch.

When it switches from tactic to strategy is when it is unfun. I think we all agree there is a time when it is the best decision, and there are times when it is just ######### sportsmanship or lack of killer skill.

  • Four Nea's all with toolboxes, all dressed the same.

They were pretty damn good, saboing hooks, body blocking, switching midchase so I was suddenly chasing a Full Health Nea, constantly rotating back to gennys. I ended up with 1k, and that was because I tunneled the one Nea at the end because I at least knew that one was on death hook.

Tough game, but these are the games that make me play survivor. I want to be this good.

  • Probably because they are getting nerfed to ######### here soon!

  • Look, the devs try to come up with new killers. Thank them for that.

You should try to keep coming up with perfection every single time you design something. See how that goes.

The devs look at the game, design, and hope to make it better.

Doc came out during stealth urban meta.

Lastly, I'm am so tired of "this killer requires no skill" bs. Regardless of power, if you perfect a character, learn to use their individual powers and funnel them into the basic tenets of killer, especially in red ranks.

Well, you have a bit of skill.

  • Did you comment on your own post?

  • It will allow her to get closer before phasing, but it is not worth it on her, IMO.

Yeah, true. However, maybe if I mentioned that they were being salty to me straight off and I was actually trying to be nice with a small piece of advice as to something I noticed in their playstyle. Tips can be useful! Probably not with bitter people though.

Yeah I agree. Some folks just can't accept feedback.

  • Yeah, once I hit it I stopped giving a ######### about rank. It actually helps me stay chill during matches as well let people escape it I decide to. No longer have to worry like if I do that, I may not pip or lose a chance to double pip.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

I got berated by a red rank 1 for trying to give them tips to improve their game. How dare a rank 11 tell them - a rank 1 - how to play! The fact I was trying to help them after I had just sacrificed them, when they became rather bitter in their first post game chat after me..

It is just a game. Play as you would in either role. Yet I'd say people should play both equally to understand how each side feel.

I have found in life in general, unsolicited advice is rarely well received.

You can 1k with any killer if you just tunnel them off hook.

    I was just thinking that!

  • I is supposed to make it look like she is phasing.

So helps to trick survivors into thinking you have phased.

I prefer speed and reappearance addons myself.

  • The sad irony is the answer to camping/tunneling is often SWF.

    Chicken and egg kinda thing.

Maybe on PS4, but certainly not Xbox. I don't teabag anyone, well, unless they TRULY deserve it.

    I was just being funny.

I only tbag straight tunnelers. And that is in hope they chase me and let the other guy play the game a bit

  • On console you can't leave the exit gates without tbagging.

If you attempt to just run out, it's free Blood warden for the killer.

You gotta do it so as to not screw over your teammates.

  • Looks ok, but you don't leave many dulls for undying effect to work.

  • All depends on who is being chased. If you can run a killer for 5 gens, he is wasting his time and will probably lose.

If you can run a killer for 5 seconds, well, you are the weakest link....goodbye!

1 … 49 50 51 52 53 … 80
