  • As a survivor, when the killer doesn't camp and tunnel.

As a killer when I am competitive. 4ks are great, but when I face a good squad and made them actually worry about getting killed , that is also enjoyable.

Then I can feel good about 1 or 2 kills, watching their buddies flee the gates not wanting to even risk a teabag !

  • As a survivor:purposely sandbagging teammates, map offerings, and playing so immersed that the killer cant find you and not attempting to progress the game.

As a killer: tunneling folks out of the game with 5 gennys left or first hook moris.

  • Might be a toxic friend.

  • I agree, make every game have an obsession, cut us that don't run DS a little break.

  • Who cares about rank?

Not you if you are DCing.

You should have been able to beat this killer at loops, did a gen, farmed a teammate and got a pip, you were twice the killers rank

  • With the new hatch offering, keys have now become a strategy. Knowing where the hatch is makes it easier to plan on a hatch game.

  • I still won't use DS, but it does get tempting more and more. I have played killer too much to run DS. I won't run DS nor NOED. Just me, not commentating on the perks themselves.

But lately the tunneling is real. Once again not making a judgement on the tactics, just stating facts of the games I have experienced. I can't stand stand tunneling, but I understand it. Killer is hard and it is much easier the sooner you force a 3v1 or 2v1.

However as a survivor that can struggle with loops, tunneling just gets old. Or watching my lady constantly be the first person out of every single game we play because she is weak and just gets tunneled to death. It doesn't matter if we take hits, show ourselves to the killer, they all just take her out.

And like many have stated, if there is no obsession in a game, killer just straight tunnels from the start.

The irony is , it is the game so DS is completely fine to run. But then so is tunneling. Catch 22 I guess.

  • It is tough. I have had both kinds of games. Either I get great teammates, know the game, understand the strategy, do gens, safe unhooks, loops.

Or I get hooked after a decent loop and 3 teammates are creeping in the edges of the map.

And if that is the case, I am going for my 4% and hoping the next game are those great randos I adore.

  • Sounds like you ran into a rank 20 Freddy.

  • I'll say it again....

Good survivors dont give a ######### about No Ones Even Dead yet, and good killers don't use it.

  • Rank doesn't matter.

    Pipping system is BS.

And shame on your teammates for letting you do a 5 gen run and not taking agro from you to let you sneak off for a bit. Also for letting you doe on second hook after all that, at least make a trade.

I think you are looking at it all wrong. If you ran him for 5 gens, you won. Fk it if you died. You made him look like a joke and probably depipped him!

  • P3 Tapp, I think the best looking P3 survivor look.

Spirit, original body, geisha head, huanted blight sword.

OR Black school girl outfit body, the rest remains the same

Oh no, I take the L (I may be mad, but I'm no coward)

Usually when games go too bad as survivor I try to farm, but if the killer just want to get kills after two survivors dc (which is fair) I just try but have no hope of even getting close to winning

No doubt, I was just being funny

  • @bilaueta said:

Tbh dbd has made me hate to not be in control of a situation. Whenever I'm playing some board game and I am losing by a lomg stretch I just don't see the fun in the game anymore. It's sometimes my fault and sometimes the other players get lucky but I just can't enjoy the game anymore because I see no thrill in being left behind with no chance to catch up

Yeah but when rage quiting a board game, you got to pick up all the pieces.

@Orion the Lebowski reference, love it!

  • Yeah I agree, they're often not rage quits but bored quits.

  • As a killer, I don't care. You want to DC you just screwed over your team and made my game easier. I will probably not play sweaty and depending on how the game goes, I may let people escape. At minimal I will let them get some gennys done for points

As a survivor, when another survivor DC's. Fk you!!! This is a team game and you just screwed us all over. Idc if you are getting camped and tunneled. Struggle at least so we can get some gennys done while you are on the hook. Not to mention I will try to take hits for you if being tunneled.

As a survivor when the killer DC's, best feeling ever. Especially when you brought that Ebony and got 0 hooks! That is like a triple pip!!

oh I know, I was just being silly. On a serious note I think the concern @BioX raised about being a free escape if the doors are open is valid, as well as it making BT useless. there are also those situations where if 2 people are hooked then a third unhooks both the 2 phasing survivors can split to opposite ends of the map and work on gens, pretty much guaranteeing that one of them will finish. I'm sure there may be other exploits/concerns that I haven't thought of.

I know you are going for a guaranteed safe unhook to eliminate camping/tunnelling, but personally I would like to see a perk "Stolen Time" where if you are unhooked within 16 meters of the killer then for 30 seconds any hit that would put you into the dying state injures the unhooker instead. so if they unsafe unhook with BT we're good, if no BT then they suffer for it

I like that idea as well.

I guess it would have to deactivate during egc or you cant enter to gates when invisible.

But I like that stolen time idea. Might eliminate some hook farming

  • @FrootLoops said:

But.... how could survivors abuse this to frustrate the killers?

I think maybe instead the survivor should steal the killers weapon and run away at 118%, and the killer has to catch them to get their weapon back before they can injure/down anyone

I don't think it would be abusable.

It would also promote healing again and slow gen rush as you would lose invisibility if you touch a genny.

Okay that's a good idea for a perk but I think that a reworked DS would still make you get out of a killer's grab. I think the best they could do is to add a requirement to DS and make its duration shorter.

I like the idea of ot being a perk!

Smoke bomb soon as the unhooking happens the survivor can drop a smoke bomb if the killer is near by camping/tunneling or whatever the survivor vanishes to another part of the map 😀

    Love this!!

  • @musefan said:

Pfft... the survivors I play against already have that power. It's called lag. 🤣

Joking aside, I think it would cause too many problems.

Like, what happens when you want to heal the survivor immediately after unhook?

    That is a good question.

I guess you could forfeit it if you decide to get healed. Like perhaps survivors can see your aura for a few seconds.

If you allow them to heal you, you leave phase world immediately.

Or at least when the healing action is complete.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

isn't that sorta what 'off the record' does?

Not really, you just get iron will for a bit with off the record.

In this case you would be completely invisible.

  • @Terro said:

Just remove the spirit speed and I think it'll be really strong but manageable.

    That is a good point!

  • I love this idea!!

I would like ,just something, that makes playing each survivor different.

It would add something to gameplay, and the killer would know what ability each survivor had, perhaps indicating a style of play of those that pick said character.

None of the OP stuff, but like you said, botany on claudette, tenacity on Tapp..wtc

  • This is one of the biggest disconnects between the two sides.

I often wonder if killers would accept less kills if they pipped more for making the game more interactive.

I am admittedly a sweaty killer. But I adjust to my competitors. If I am destroying, I will take my foot off the gas.

    Maybe let a few escape.

But if I feel i am facing a sweat squad, well then i am doing everything for the 4k. Except slugging 3rd person, it's to boring I'll race the fourth to the hatch.

But i was conditioned to this by seeing no pip or even a depip and then getting tbags at the exit gates for playing to nice.

So I ask, killers, can we accept less kills if the pips were more dependent on hooks, chases, gen protection?

Or will we always need those 4ks as our win condition?

  • Always a thing!! Next topic

  • Just more proof Spirit needs a buff!

  • @OmegaXII said:

It is a strategy if it helps you win the game.

So, tunnelling is, technically, a strategy.

Tunneling is a tactic used in your overall strategy. You use it when you see the need , but as a killer your overall game strategy should be more in depth.

If tunneling is your strategy, then that killer is not a good killer.

  • @SMitchell8 said:

Tunneling is skillful because you still have to apply some skill to get a hit, especially against a serial juker. It's an effective yet annoying strategy, nothing wrong with it.

I would accept this as truth if said killer went after the best loopers.

But more often than not they just tunnel the poor noob out of the game.

  • @ast2astRegMgr said:

If a killers only objective is to kill survivors then is there a specific order you kill them in or have I missed something in the killer rule book. I don’t think there is a single killer in DbD that would come across a survivor on a gen and think to himself oh you just got off a hook let me go find someone else to kill and if you go down because a teammate does a unsafe unhook then I think you should be made at that teammate for than and not the killer. Plus with BT there’s no reason to go down on an unhook anyway

Finding someone on a genny is not tunneling.

But hitting someone, proc BT and still chase them down to rehook them, is the type of tunneling that is just unfun to play against.

Maybe instead of blaming a killer's main objective to KILLING, blame team mate survivors for unhooking, either at 1st hangtime, and or right when the killer just hooked. Survivors have this mentality, that if they get caught. Its because the Killer cheated.

You're being chased by a killer, what do you exactly expect a KILLER to do. It's part of the game.

Go play Outlast. If the big huge dude finds you. And gives chase and catches you. What do you think will happen? It ain't gonna care for your feelings, so why bother with typing up complaints when it's a versus enemy. It's the objective.

Tunneling is used far too much when in actuality, It's just a Killer being a Killer and is chasing their victims. And for the matter of it being 4 survivors vs 1 killer. What's that really say about Team play.

I dont think it is incidental tunneling that bothers people.

But when someone enters the match knowing they are going to tunnel their first catch right out of the game, ignoring all others.

Even those of us that stay to take the hit and, if need be switch places. Only to be slugged as the killer tunnels the other survivor through BT and all.

That kind of tunneling is just BS.

When it goes from tactic to their strategy.

  • Make the hooks respawns like PH cages if killer camps.

And please something about tunneling. It is just so boring to play against every game.

My poor lady is about done with the game, because she cant loop and killers just take her right out of the game.

I took two hits for her yesterday, killer just left me slugged and chased her and hooked her, 3rd hook.

Like ######### anymore with this tactic.

  • @Deadeye said:

Confirmed. But I can also add that this month I had a pretty nice streak of just rare tunneling attempts or something like that. The last 5 days it is more like 80% of the games being PURE and obvious tunneling and camping, including mori off the hook.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1649781#Comment_1649781

Gratzz. Then you belong to the group that everyone hates for a more than valid reason

I agree. The tunneling is just the norm now.

Do killers just care so much for 4ks they don't want to even git gud?

Just tunnel people out of the game with no concern for gen pressure

  • Im a Tapp main, so I don't have this problem.

  • I think the Devs are trying to make the game more strategic and force decision making by both sides.

Remember the rationale in nerfing the ######### out of toolboxes?

Now a killer will have to make decisions deciding whether to enter a chase or kick a genny. With old pop, you could simply go chase another survivor, hit them twice to down them, and still have time to kick a genny. It makes the perk need more strategy then simply knowing that you had a pop in the bank and plenty of time to use it.

DS is BS but, I always see it more akin to NOED. Both give an unearned advantage for failing.

Blame the devs for killing healing and the items. Anti heal meta is the fault of the devs and the survivors getting more wise and running iron will.

No, I totally understand why. It is just the way the game is played now.

I mean sooner or later survivors were probably going to figure out pounding gennys was the best counter to almost every killer tactic anyway.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1643090#Comment_1643090

You don't compare normal DBD with tournament DBD.Those guys were playing a completely different game

Except every killer watching it seemed to take it as the gospel to now tunnel and camp.

  • Tunneling sucks, but with current no heal gen rush meta, sometimes it is a necessary evil.

I know with our Swf, if you try to hook each of us once. We will be popping the last gen when you maybe got your third hook.

So as much as I hate it, I understand it.

Plus to OP, if you ran him for 4 gens, is he supposed to just give up on you now? He already committed the whole match to you. Might as well finish the job.

  • I like the new sound, just for changing it up.

When did they change them back?

I do play on the PC. And I love the Cross Play because Console players are silent, so I don't hear them say ANYTHING. :) So I would expect since Console Players seem to have fewer options to be bad sports, that perhaps that is why Console players often don't understand how much PC Players encounter.

That has kind of been my suspicion as to why we don't see it so much.

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1640621#Comment_1640621

I would agree with this in general, as I think someone who behaves like hot garbage in one role, would certainly not become a saint in the other. However, judging by my own experience, most people must not play both in equal measure as I simply don't see the kind of horrors from Killers that I do from Survivors. I play both roles equal, and I accept that how I'm treated as a Killer will be VERY different.

Yes the messages that I have received that are over the line have come from survivors. I have never received hate mail from a killer. Ofcourse my survivor is not as skilled as my killer, so I probably rarely would be considered "toxic" as a survivor.

But, in a 4v1 , mathematically it makes sense that a higher number of hate would come from the larger group. If killers where sending a higher percentage of hate messages, while only being 20% of the player base represented in each game. That would indicate a significant problem.

Well I'm a Rank 4 Killer now (slide back to 5 and 6 often and then fight my way back down) and I would LOVE to report that potent Ranked Survivors have fewer creeps, but sadly that isn't the case. What does happen is you get a LOT more proactive, good sport Survivors who talk and give you a GG to make the jerks less irksome.

So it works like this.... I get the same 40-50% behaving badly, but the percentage of really good post game chatter goes up from 10-20% to about 40-50%. You get more good, proactive folks, but no fewer human garbage. :) Sadly, I see about the same number of hacks and lag spikes. That seems a constant at all levels.

Do you play on PC? Do you think it is more of a platform thing? I just don't see it as often, but I do try to play as fair as possible. Not that the tactics used should matter in how someone responds to defeat.

My question about rank was really referring to OP. I was curious if he was indeed a rank 20 and as such are these baby survivors really running around tbagging?

  • @jayru said:

Trying to satisfy survivors to avoid toxic behavior is like saying "well my bf hurt me, but it was my fault because I wouldn't shut up".

No matter what you do you're gonna get toxic survivors so don't try to cater to them BUT.....

For me personally whenever there is a match where the survivors are good players and don't resort to trying to make me mad as a strategy, I'm more prone to being more lenient if they aren't doing great

It is not toxic survivors, it is toxic players. If you have a "toxic" play style you will probably bring that attitude to whatever role you choose to play that day.

  • I have read a lot of these comments and it seems everyone's experiences are so different. I have had some terrible death threats but I have not gotten one in a long time. It is terrible if people are getting destructive messages, especially if it is happening on the regular.

I just do not see this toxicity that many say is so rampant.

I wonder if it is more prevalent on some platforms over others.

With that said, I gotta wonder about OP's post here. 75% are jerks. I just don't see this at all. Also If you never play killer are you a rank 20. Are you telling me rank 20s are running around just tea bagging killers now?

And are teabags that big of a deal. I mean I would argue straight face camping would be less fun than a couple pixelated squats. Neither one would I consider toxic tho,

  • I try to be as fair as possible. I wiggled off yesterday do to the hook bug.

I just stood there and waved to hit me and pointed at the hook.

The killer was so surprised. I figured he had me, BS he gets screwed out of the hook. And when I play killer and it happens it drives me crazy.

End game chat, the killer said thanks! He said that had never happened before and it was good to see sportsmanship was still alive.

That made me happy. Even as I was left to die on my second hook. Forehead.

tbagging, flashlight clicking, genrushing, sabotaging, bodyblocking, emotes, going for the unhook early, going for the unhook late, pallet looping, using a window 3 times, looking at me funny, need I go on?

Is this sarcasm or do you really believe all of this is toxic?

The only 2 I would consider toxic on your list is tbagging and maybe FL clicking. Although both may be tactics to get the killer to chase you as opposed to tunneling a teammate.

Which for the record, I don't find toxic either, maybe unfun to face, but tunneling is not toxic.

If the killer loses, survivors are toxic! Didn't you know this? /s

    What does the /s mean?

Also, I know. Everyone says something one side does is toxic, when it is probably just game mechanics.

  • Sometimes you lose dude.

I respect your positive attitude expecting 4ks each game. I myself go into each match expecting 4ks.

Although it is unreasonable to believe you will never lose. Take the L, send some GGs and go get the slaughter the next poor bastards.
