  • Some of us take shots of bourbon then a quick piss or blunt before a game.

Maybe chill a minute, we will save you when you get hooked first!!!😎

  • I kill them all normally , but I dont slug for the 4k.

    Race you to the hatch.

Giving points by category is wrong. Already killers are toxic, in this way not only increase unhealthy competitiveness, but also fuse unsportsmanlike play. Congratulations.

Can I ask what you mean by, "Already killers are toxic?"

As in all killers? What do you mean by toxic?

There are playstyles that are not my favorite, however I wouldn't label them toxic.

  • Yeah after a long time playing killer, I tried my hand at survivor. And indeed it is the more chill role. I can drink bourbon and BS with friends and still escape, if things go right of course.

Occasionally we run into some serious killers that wipe the floor with us, we don't play that tryhard.

But after the game you just feel like, well that didn't go our way, next match.

I mean if its working then the killer will keep doing it vs you when they realize you are a easy pick.

Just pay attention and realize how you lost the chase and learn from it and you will eventually be able to loop at least to a basis degree where you can waste at least a gen in time.

As said before though if you are being tunneled you are the only one really playing the game as chase is the game really.

That is the truth. I have gotten better myself. I just keep encouraging my lady that she will as well.

Firstly correct no everyone does, thats why you got to practice. Its not to hard when you play for a while and understand loops.

secondly, no tunneling is not meta at all as it as said previously lets gens be done and breaks pressure.

It only works in certain situations, and at that is typically only done when the killer is scared of losing and needs to kill a survivor quickly.

While I certainly agree with you in principle.

What I see constantly applied in game is massive amounts of tunneling.

I agree it should be a bad strategy to use from 5 gens on, unfortunately unless you SWF it usually works out for the killer.

I have no problem with tunneling as a tactic, swing momentum type of tunneling. My displeasure is when a killer uses it as their main strategy and not a tactic within their overall strategy.

Sadly you just demonstrated you have no clue what you are talking about.

No, you don't use perks to counter tunnellers you used chase.

If they chase you and you alone then your teammates can pop gens quickly for the second time.

    Pay attention.

But not everyone has the skills to loop the killer for a long time.

I agree, the counter to tunneling is strong looping. But if you are not a strong looper, then your game is over.

Had a GF straight tunnel my lady last night. She DS him, still tunneling, I took a hit, still chased her, another teammate took a hit, still chased her, I healed and took another hit, guess what he did?

If the killer is a straight tunneler, they dont give a #########. Luckily she had a couple good runs and we pounded gens and got doors open.

I am not telling people how to play, but tunneling is the meta killer gameplay right now.

  • @Afius said:

I like when you get blamed for tunneling when their teammates unhook them right in front of you.

Yeah that's actually camping and tunneling!

  • Fk farming!!!!

I play to have fun and get better. I want the challenge of either being chased or chasing some one and hooking them.

    You want to farm?

I think there is a Farm Simulation game out there somewhere.

    You want a challenge?

You selected a challenge from the tome.

Accept a challenge and present one.

I’m not denying that a forum opens up discussion on criticism and opinion.

But they were over the line in directly implying how I should and should not be playing, and in a marginally attacking way as well (which actually breaks forum rules).

"Marginally Attacking", I dont think I understand that term.

Is it like he kind off said something you didn't like?

I certainly don't want anyone to feel attacked.

I reread his comments and the only thing I see is the diction he used in describing the tactics in the post, I believe he called them garbage.

Which, I understand can be taken offensively.

My point is that when we make discussions, we are going to receive feedback, some off which we may not agree with.

    Please don’t patronise me.

I know these things. I DO these things. But I don’t see the sense wasting time hooking 1 survivor whilst 3 others are free to do gens. If I come to slugged survivors to pick them up after downing 1 or 2 others because I’m at a point in the match I see strategic value in that, but they’ve crawled away, so be it.

You’ve no right to tell me how to play, just as I have no right to tell you how to play, provided you’re not breaking game rules. Which I a NOT doing: that is I am NOT breaking game rules.

I agree with this, until you post it on the forums.

Then you open yourself to the opinions of others.

It is BS to message a person post game and tell them how to play.

But if you make a post on the forums, you should expect others' thoughts and perspectives.

Or are we just supposed to be "Yes Men" to each other?

  • Yeah, I had to turn cross play off. I know console was already at a disadvantage.

Now with the new bug, it is silly to try to play vs. PC .

PS4 got brutally penetrated by this last patch so im guessing thats the source of your issues.

    "Brutally Penetrated " damn!!!

Someone has been playing Myers too much! 🤣

  • I think the map looks pretty good tho!

  • Yeah Otz said it was actually a buff. He stated you can still "blindly spam your range attack" so no change there, which I guess is his power?

  • 4 Blood Pacts sounds better than 4 DS's!

  • It is still a very strong perk. It still does everything it was intended to do.

It adds just a little bit of strategy to it as now you can't enter and win a chase . Down another survivor. Use pop and have another one on standby with the slug.

I mean high mobility killers probably still can, but others will have to decide on entering chase or kicking a genny.

Similar to how the toolboxes were nerfed to make them more strategic.

  • Wow!!!!

    I'll say it backwards, woW!!!!

    Damn, why nerf Discordance?

  • Doesn't really sound like a joke tho.......so maybe not literal?

  • They are easier to deal with as you can eventually widdle them down if they dont do gens.

For me, what I see, is less scary than what I don't see.

  • Yup, Im the same. I just yesterday found a blue haired Nea on the Shack genny. She ran down the stairs right at a survivor that just got done searching the chest.

I looked at her, and let the other suvivor go, and downed the Nea. Later found the same Nea in the bushes with a key while I was chasing someone els. Sorry, I am breaking chase and getting you Nea!!!

  • I give the Hatch if I hear it going to the hook. I don't walk all over looking for the hatch tho. I hear it, it's yours. If not, it's a 4k.

Although I will never slug for the 4k. It's a race, see who wins.

Exceptions are 4%, Tapps, and just really solid gamers that have impressed me during the match.

  • Nurse and Huntress would probably be the consensus.

Can't lie, I have seen some pretty good ones since cross play, I am on PS4

  • I believe Cypress should be basekit!

  • SWF is not going anywhere, and I don't see two different lobbies becoming a thing either. I am not sure how balancing will be done, but doubt very much you will see any big changes coming to SWF.

And I gotta say, we are not all, that powerful. We got our assess handed to us last night. I was impressed with the killers we faced, Huntresses straight killing shots. Even Speed Demon Wraiths that were constantly having someone on the hook.

We were playing catch up all night and rarely had a 4 man escape.

I understand that Optimal SWFs exist, but so to do Amazing Killers that can destroy a team in a short bit of time as well.

I think most of us are somewhere in the middle.

  • Yeah, giving up a perk slot of make sure you won't get blinded seems fair to me.

  • I dont dc, I just play through gritted teeth.

They are OP and often the killer just tunnels the first guy off the hook and moris him.

Faced a few yesterday. 1 killer just straight camped with his mori. Used his extra range PH to get me after last second save. Then tunneled dude through BT and moried him.

I'm sure he didn't have fun.

But the best feeling is when you get 4 out and end screen shows an ebony and killer didn't get any hooks.

They're in the game, really just got to deal with them.

  • @Kalinikta said:

The common response to gens going to fast is just learn to apply more pressure. Now that someone has a situation that applies huge amounts of pressure and people advising them to give it up. It isn't fun for the other end, it isn't beneficial for the bloodpoints earned... There is such a double standard at play.

Once I see survivors give me slack when my game goes south fast for me, I might consider doing the same. Dont get me wrong, I always try to go for the saviors, play the game well, spread the pressure, improve my killer skills and get 10+ hooks a game, yet those times survivors present me with gifts and huge mistakes I will capitalize. I lose enough games as it is, never seen survivors hand me a way back into the game so why should killers do it?

The guide book for fun games that people try and uphold seems very one sided. The play 'nice' idea seems to only apply to killers, for survivors is just called strategy, playing well and killers should just get good.

That is an extremely valid point.

And pretty much my reasoning when I decided to hang around the barn.

  • @Adirom175 said:

After reading many reasons to leave the basement, id say my reason to stay:

The reason I play killer is to be feel the power and control over the match (and for the bloodpoints as well)

But if there is an situation where you can use it to your advantage, id do it, because:

    1. Suvivors have to learn of their mistakes. If they got hit hard, they will remember it and learn how to avoid this next time. Do a different strategy or just do gens if its not possible to save a person of the basemement without the high risk of getting caught in action. I know this game is about risk as well, but sometimes you have to sacrafice something to still gain a bigger chance of success (be it higher bloodpoints/score or even an escape)
    2. I learned that showing mercy to survivors can be punishing in the late game, if something happens you didnt expect to happen. Your job as the killer is to get as many kills as possible (or just do it for the points if you dont care). But if you think mercy is the better choice, you have to remind yourself that the survivors wont see you as a real threat anymore, and attempt more stuff or even start to bully you, because they wanna do a payback for you even getting 2 people to the basement.
    3. If you gain high pressure and keep it, the survivors will respect you as a killer and will get too scared to attempt something, because they wanna survive as long as possible. Sure, there are many experienced players out there which care more about the survival of others than themselves, but if you do it right, you can beat those people again, and win really quick

Most of the people think its boring, which is normal, but for me its not, because there are still people which play killer just to have control over the game.

For example camping leatherface at the start of the match. They do it for the feeling of power, if they catch an really toxic survivor, or just wanna show the teammates that he can have control over the match. (Yeah there are really people out there who do that, I asked those people)

So yeah, like I said, this is my reason why I would stay at the basement.

Thanks for your well thought out response.

I am often on the side of, "let's kill but be as nice as possible " mantra.

But after a year of debates on this forum. And a couple devotions as survivor, trying to get good there. I have learned that being a ruthless killer is not only acceptable, but perhaps common practice.

And as I get my rank back to rank 1, I kinda decided I was gonna try to take every opportunity presented to 4k.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

depends on what I'm trying to do.

just playing normally and no one is around? I leave. I rather have a longer game.

trying to do some challenge that requires killing in the basement or something else among those lines? I stay.

I'm not just gonna let someone walk besides to save the others... but I'm usually not rushing to win a match.

Yeah, I did have to kill everyone in the match using the perk ruin .

So that did contribute to my decision.

  • Thank you my friend!

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

I'd just leave. Especially with that build.

I've also found that you can still play nice, but still play hard and you rank up rather quickly still.

    Yeah it is true.

I usually play at rank 1, but after a couple of resets, I have been trying to get good with survivor, I just wanted some quick pips.

Also in my time as survivor I have learned many killers will just take advantage of a situation like that , which greatly increases their odds of winning.

  • @JacobD said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/198517/so-i-gotta-ask

Its "scummy" meaning obviously the 2 guys in basement aren't exactly having a great experience but tbh they ######### up pretty hard to get 2 people in basement and its easily the best and easiest option to win. I never go for basement wins cause sitting there is kinda boring but again they messed up big time for it to come to that even if you built with that in mind(iron grasp/agitation)

Yeah never really play like that, especially early.

But after watching some streamers I was like there really is no incentive to leave.

I didn't just stay in basement completely. When discordance hit I would chase them off and the return to the barn, was the corn map.

But was an ez 4k, got the pip , which is all I was playing for at the moment

  • Thanks all for the replies.

My normal game play has always been to just leave.

But recently I have been ranking back up after a few resets so I have been a bit more ruthless.

I figured a quick pip would be nice.

Blood points don't motivate me anymore as I have plenty .

But I guess I could be a bit "nicer" next time.

  • @Adirom175 said:

Its your decision if you leave the basement or not.

It depends, if you wanna secure a win and stay, or you leave, risk your high pressure and maybe get more points after the game.

The thing you have to remind yourself is, you wont see those people again. Maybe if you immediately search for the next game, but there are around +30000 people playing this game every day. Survivors will forget who they went up against and wont care if you played like an ass or not. They may be tilted to you, but wont do something like hunt down your adress or something.

This is a Videogame, where you can decide what you wanna do, be it playing Spirit with stridor or Infinity Tombstone Myers.

The reason why you play this game is to have a fun time. So dont be afraid to ruin the fun of others, just dont care and do whats right for you.

Im still upset that people still think you have to follow the "rulebook of dbd", because they expect you to have limited options.

Shorted: just ######### on it, dont feel bad for playing like a dick. You paid for the full DBD experience, so you gotta use the full DBD experience!

    Thanks, that is so true.

I just recently tore up the handbook. I have for a long time played killer as close to the handbook as possible.

But now that I find myself edging back from a 50/50 player into a 60/40 killer I have noticed you get very little respect for playing "nice."

So why I will always try to play with good sportsmanship, I will be fully exploiting the opportunities that l see.

  • Oh, I thought descend beyond was the September release.

There has been quite a few changes recently. Perk tweaks and new killer.

I am just not able to tell you off the top of my head.

Perhaps someone else can, or the notes maybe.

    Welcome back!!

  • You mean since last month?

  • Against 4 DHs, I'd say well played my friend!

Overall they are strong. As a killer I don't mind them😎

As a boosted survivor using DH, they are completely OP and should be removed. /s

  • The only way dc penalties are a big deal are if you continually DC.

  • @MusicNerd_TC said:

There are no strategies that I consider toxic, that's right, tunneling, gen rushing, mori on first hook, stacking slowsdowns, slugging, using BNP, using DS and unbreakable, using OoO, camping etc aren't toxic, because they are real gameplay strategies.

I would consider cheating, talking ######### in the end game chat, and literally waiting out the entire bleedout timer while standing over a survivor toxic, because it wastes time.

If you consider basic gameplay strats that you don't like toxic, then I don't know what to say, just change your mindset.

    I agree with this.

There are tactics that aren't my favorite. But I wouldn't consider them toxic.

  • That looked like a fun game for both sides to me.

  • @AvisDeene said:

I'm not a Spirit main, but my experience from playing against them is that they love to rush the hook the second someone is unhooked. I think they just walk away, face the hook and have their finger ready on the trigger.

Spirit is meant to be played as all offence.

    Attack, hook , repeat.

    Cruise gens and hook survivors.
