  • Personally I just wished the devs scrapped map offerings. Almost always when they are played, they turn into a miserable experience for whoever didn't bring it. Like they just feel pay to win without actually being pay to win.

To my knowledge, if you own the characters you still need to level them up to unlock them. Only these players who don't own the DLC have it as common perks + different icon.

I wanted to know if this was true or not (even though I kinda knew the answer already but wanted to double check). So, I went and leveled up Nancy on Steam.

    Screenshot (846).png Screenshot (847).png Screenshot (848).png Screenshot (849).png

So here's everything. Level prior to leveling, what character info says, that Steve's perk showed up despite not really having any perks unlocked (I have a few), and that Nancy's Level 30 perk did not appear in her Level 30 bloodweb (at least as a teachable, idr if it was Better Together or not)

  • You answered your own question with the first few words. Steve, Nancy, and Demogorgon no longer have perks. They are common. Therefore, they won't become unlocked with Prestige. I believe the game in the "Character Info" even states that their perks are in the common pool now and are no longer associated with them.

  • Every character to release after Chapter 20: Resident Evil is not there

It's because There are way more daily rituals for killer than there is for survivor since every killer has their own daily ritual.

Well that depends, how are daily rituals selected and how do the different killer "rite of" rituals count?

For example: Let's say they select the type of ritual first. There's 9 different types of survivor rituals and 4 different types of killer rituals. However, if the "Rite of" type doesn't actually exist for killer and every "Rite of (enter name here)" is considered its own type, then yes there would be 34 different types of killer rituals to survivors 9. However if "Rite of" is the category and then it selects which killer you get the "Rite of" of, then survivors outweigh the killer rituals 9 to 4. Also, if they just spin all the rituals and you get a completely random one, that's even worse. Take it like that and there's 129 survivor rituals and 112 killer rituals. Which, then again, the survivors would weigh out the killer rituals.

    Something like that, anyway.

Probably what the devs thought placing that

  • If they were, I feel like we would have seen something in PTB or they wouldn't be holding back what the reward is.

  • @Seanzu said:

    Does it really reward failure?

People play more "greedy" because they have Dead Hard, you didn't outplay them and catch them, because they knew they had Dead Hard, killers are also faster than survivors and also have bloodlust (which actually rewards failure, for free, unlike Dead Hard, which is a perk slot), so it's almost inevitable you'll catch up to a survivor.

    1. Bloodlust was introduced when infinites were a thing which isn't on the killer
    2. It still rewards failure despite this, you aren't supposed to want to greed pallets and vaults, pallets and vaults (more so pallets) ARE the free second chance similar to bloodlust. What I'm hearing this point is "Well people get to play in a form that would usually fail due to the existence of Dead Hard. The killer didn't outplay or catch them because they had a perk that allowed them to use a usually failing strategy." That doesn't make it a good perk. That does not mean it doesn't reward failure. It rewards failure.
  • How you know that detail was worded horribly, this is like the fifth post I've seen today asking about it

  • this is going to go down like when people heard Huntress was getting an add-on pass and cheered that they were changing iri head and flower babushka or when people were convinced it was a spider killer for the anniversary. Once again assumptions based on one sentence and now you're going with it. It will then be a let down when you realize, that wasn't entirely what they meant.

Two dead, one slug. I didn't see a notification but I was shocked.

To be clear : I was in "The Game". I've downed the survivor on the other side of the closest basement pallet and grabbed him immediately. As I turned, I got hit by the pallet.

No boon, as for Unbreakable it was literally an instant down/grab.

If they didn't have Power Struggle and the only other person alive was slugged, it kind of doesn't matter what the map is. If they didn't have Power Struggle and that happened, then yes it was cheating. If they did have Power Struggle, idk? Maybe?

You still need a lot of BP. Most players arent even close to have the total amount of BP to get it on all killers, let alone all characters.

Right now, only 50 players or so have the amount of BP needed to get all characters p3 all perks. Changing the prestige system would give about 30% of players p3 all perks on all characters.

I'm not trying to say that's not true and I guess I didn't phrase it that well. It's not a good reward to give bloodpoints because the people who would actually benefit from a reward like that, aren't the people getting the reward since the reward is dependent on how many characters you have Prestige 3. The devs phrased it like, "Each prestige level 3 character on your account at the time of the update will receive a distinct reward, with specifics to be unveiled a little further down the line." If it turns out to just be bloodpoints, which at this point is real possibility because everything that feels distinct is out the window in this context, it would suck. Let's say you have 1 Prestige 3 character, you're getting 1/57-59th the reward of someone who has all the characters in the game Prestige 3. So who's truly getting rewarded? The people who don't need a currency reward.

Yo I gotta ask. What did you run on Survivors while doing this? I can never decide what build to run on them while grinding out BP. Always swapping out the other two perks whilst wglf and prove thyself is always on it. Also may as well ask since it's a bloodhunt, does your build change any for those? I'm close to havin all killers P3, about 2 left to go...with alot of them being all perks.

WGLF, Decisive or Dead Hard, Prove Thyself, and BT

I am 100% sure that it wont be Bloodpoints. It would be a very bad move to give Bloodpoints for people who have unlocked so much already and will not really need them due to the grind reduction.

I agree it would be very boring but what else would they do?

It's not a cosmetic or charm

They probably aren't going to give iri shards for cosmetics or new characters because we'll have those

They aren't going to give us auric cells because that's a bad move on their part

what else is there really? I guess they could do something new or give us rift fragments but people who have the time to Prestige probably don't have issues gaining rift fragments

  • @TotemSeeker91 said:

I mean, I only have 2 people P3ed, and that's doc, and kate, and after this update... probably still doc, and kate, lol

Personally I'm speaking from a standpoint that I feel a lot fewer people would have. As of right now on live servers, I have every killer and survivor Prestige 3 Level 50, if they hand me bloodpoints when all teachables are basically going to unlock at Tier 3 on every character anyways, it's not going to feel like I was compensated or rewarded. It will feel like, "What's this for?"

  • You'd think with roughly 35 maps in the game this would rarely happen

  • But how many of them are playing at the same time? It doesn't matter if this game had 1 billion players, if only 1,000 are playing at a time

  • Because every single tome has both character specific challenges and perk specific challenges? Literally look at any tome and you will see it's not just this. They try to get you to play the character, but also they want you to experiment with their perks (which is funny considering some challenges require you to bring nothing but the perk).

  • Devs: We're going to make sure that we call it a distinct reward

Community: Okay so it's going to be a cosmetic or charm of sorts

    Devs: No

    Community: ...

But seriously, if they do a reward and give us bloodpoints that's not good. The new prestige system will, more or less, destroy the grind. You'll barely need bloodpoints anymore unless you don't have every perk on every character. Which, depending on how many characters you have P3, that might not be that tall of an order. Even just prestige in general because for every prestige your character is, everyone else will get that perk unlocked at the tier that corresponds with the prestige. (Last sentence was worded horribly, but we get the idea)

  • Literally your first 4 sentences is exactly why they're doing this. Also the meta isn't 40 perks, only like 10-15 (MAX). So they're going to buff some weaker perks and nerf the meta, at least that's their end goal, we'll see if that happens. After all, Ruin was nerfed at the beginning of 2020 because it was so strong and overused and they just managed to make it, at least as far as I'm concerned, stronger.

  • I have killers (many in fact) that are Level 50 and don't have BBQ at all.

  • That's disgusting I hate this challenge

  • Honestly, I haven't been going strictly after it. I noticed when I tried that, it was just aggravating and annoying. So I've been focusing on other achievements and challenges and I'll get it eventually. Apparently I only need to do what it says 4 more times.

  • Anyone who says that literally shouldn't be trying to do the rift because they obviously don't have the time or energy to play the game. The most efficient way is to actually play every day and do all the challenges. That's the most efficient way. Not afk-ing. Honestly, you don't even have to play every day if you do the challenges. I haven't played on my switch in a few days and I'm (on a technical standpoint) ahead of where I should be on the rift still.

I honestly agree that if you don't do something during the match, you shouldn't be getting exp for player level/rift fragments. All you're doing is clicking one button, walking away for 20 minutes, then coming back to click the button again. That's not playing and shouldn't be rewarded.

Thank you, it's been a challenge

To be fair though, from the other end there are far more 'wait, my hatchet literally passed through them, how was that not a hit?' moments for Huntress.

    Latency is a fickle mistress.

The things people don't understand unless they play Huntress lmao, although it does SOMETIMES still happen when playing Huntress where it's like "No that probably shouldn't have hit"

  • I know the devs did confirm it's bugged so maybe it'll be more confusing on live servers, but as of PTB I didn't find it confusing in the slightest.

  • @JaviiMii said:

As far as managing expectations goes mentioning a "distinct reward" was a very bad choice of words. It is guaranteed to make people have very high expectations (that are kinda doomed to be disappointed). Continuing to be secretive about it only makes it worse with all the speculation. --- Though, with cosmetics and charms confirmed to be out of the picture there isn't really much left. But with the new Prestige you're supposed to "proudly show case" the Prestige-Level of every character (probs in the end game overview where ranks/grades used to be) so it's probably related to that. If it is that, I think it's worth it for the characters I actually play. - If it's not even that I'll probably be pretty disappointed; in that case no mention of any kind of reward should have been made at all. Generating hype is one thing. - But having everyone inevitably bummed is shooting yourself in the foot in the long run.

I agree with all this and honestly I hope your Prestige Level for your character does replace the survivor/killer emblem on the tally screen where the ranks/grades used to be.

  • I would think they'd create a maximum increase for the bloodwebs because eventually you might see bloodwebs with literally just rare-ultra rare stuff and like 1 or 2 common/uncommon things. For some characters that's not a bad thing, but there's a few killers and to a degree the survivors that would suffer from that happening. (I take it you'd have to be some crazy prestige level for that to happen, but it would be possible)

  • It's weird because they even say on the official website the "final living Survivor standing." Which is like, okay which is it? Final living or final standing? Those can be very different things. I'd also assume that if it just activates on the last non-hooked survivor, it would only trigger in the event no survivor can unhook themselves. So the survivor downed would have to be either going to struggling or death hook while everyone else is struggling or death hook in order for it to activate.

  • Except the fact that Boon: Circle of Healing has it's own data on that graph. I also don't think them reusing some level of code for a perk proves they're getting them mixed up. They can see entire builds and you think they can't tell if one perk requires a totem and one doesn't?

  • I'm not going to necessarily main them, however the grind to Prestige 3 Level 50 still continues with these 2 being added to the game.

  • I say other just because I have no f-ing clue what it will be

  • On paper they sound exciting, we'll have to wait and see though

What? Dredge will probably get nerfed by the time he leaves PTB just like so many others. Demo's portals are as good as this locker teleport provided you're not trying to use them like Hag traps. Demo is a hell of a lot better than Freddy, as he can close gaps and end chases much more efficiently, there's nothing circumstantial about that considering he was designed for such. Nightfall? Let me know when they actually apply total darkness and stealth because I can get the drop on people with Demo a lot quieter than what I'm currently seeing.

Considering Nightfall has already been acknowledged as very bugged, I can't imagine they'll do much to Dredge until they can fix it and figure out it's true strength in a trial. (Also who's the last killer YOU actually remember getting nerfed between ptb and going live, cuz I can't remember).

  • I just got it in my last round on RPD. It's a challenge though because I think Victor's max range is like 10 meters (don't quote me on that because I don't know that for certain).

  • "The Shrine of Secrets will also benefit from this progression system rework. 'There won’t be a teachable rarity associated with the Shrine anymore,' reveals Matt. 'You’ll be able to buy your chosen perk tier directly from the Shrine, though the higher tiers will cost more.' Upon purchase, that perk will be immediately available on every applicable character.

If you’ve already unlocked tier 1 of a perk – let’s go back to The Trapper’s Agitation for a second – you’ll be able to buy tier 2 and tier 3 from the Shrine at a discounted price. We’ll be sure to provide further information on the Shrine closer to release, so stay tuned." - from the article on dbd's official website

  • This is a joke... right? Like this has to be a joke.

Both 2017 and 2018 were skipped for survivor, while 2019 got two survivor masks. Ace and Dwight released in 2016, while Jane and Yui were released in 2019.

I'm disappointed that Kate and Feng aren't getting masks. The masks are really nice, but since I don't play any of the killers that are getting masks, and I don't play any of the survivors that are getting masks, I guess I'll just skip the cosmetics this anniversary. 😭

It's by Dead by Daylight Year, which is June 20XX - June 20XX, Jane and Yui (if looking at dead by daylight years) actually released in 2 separate years. Jane released in Year 3 which was June 2018-June 2019 and Yui released in Year 4 which was June 2019-June 2020

  • Wait where did you hear this? I've heard nothing about any exclusive charm/outfit, did they say it in the anniversary stream and I just missed it?

  • @HommeBizarre said:

If I'm not mistaken, you'll be able to unlock a tier of a perk for every survivor

Like exemple, tier 1 for self-care. And everyone will have selfcare tier 1

    (I'm not sure though)

    I'm confused too

  • One question I have for the devs is about the teachables in general after reading the article on the official website. Are teachables no longer a thing? In their article, they mentioned that the shrine of secrets is going to become more about unlocking certain perks on all characters rather then unlocking teachables. Also, if someone has already gotten a character to Prestige 3, will their perks automatically unlock at Tier 3 on all survivors/killers (depending on the character)? Will new characters that arrive get the perks or will you have to prestige again? That last one is assuming you don't find the perk in that specific characters bloodweb. Speaking of which, will personal perks still appear in different characters bloodwebs or are they now part of the prestige system specifically?

I guess that's more than one question.

  • 57 exclusive rewards sounds promising for me (technically 58 because of Playstation)

I actually kind of loved how there's only 12 characters this time, makes grinding for the loot less tedious (Gonna be real with you, I don't want to grab a pedestal cosmetic with characters I don't use but too scared to ignore their items in case I do want to use them, 20+ times in a single month. Hated the fifth year crowns for that.), and the cosmetics this time actually look really cool.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/JB9TZ3D46PGC/image.png

I love how Ace has one, out of every character in DBD he makes the most sense to be at a Masquerade and it looks aesthetically pleasing. In fact I like all of them (except maybe Trappers, although I think it's more "in comparison to the other masks" than me actually disliking Trappers). I hope we get more Anniversary events like this, a unique story with multiple DBD characters and aesthetically pleasing head gear on them, even if Ace and Yui don't get in next Anniversary I'd rather that than another unpleasant crown on everyone.

I get that Ace make sense and so does Dwight being the first survivor (like Trapper is the first killer both on a technical level) however, during the stream they mentioned giving a mask to one original survivor and killer from every year, and they gave Year 1 two survivor masks while Year 2 doesn't have any. It's not even like a "Oh Year 2 only had licensed survivors" because that's not true.
