The old one was 0.5 seconds and it certainly seemed to work pretty well. I'm confident that DOUBLING the available window of use will keep DH firmly in the meta

How many killers do you see fall for it though after they notice someone has DH? How many of those people that are using DH are using it for it's intended purposes and how many are just looking for extra distance to reach their next loop that they can stay at for the next minute? The only reason the Dead Hard that is on live servers has worked pretty well with that window is because you could abuse the living sh*t out of what it does. So I do actually have to disagree, with no way to abuse it (except MAYBE by bringing other endurance perks, we'll have to see), it won't be working as well as you'd probably think.

-If I am wrong, I will eat those words and I'm okay with that.

Edit: but seriously, 9 times out of 10, when current Dead Hard fails it still works

  • The only thing is for DH to work now, you need to be spot on with reading the killers movements. It is, after all, a 1 second effect.

  • Although that outfit would look good with a Twisted Masquerade mask, I have to agree with @MrJack20252 and say other survivors should get them. Claudette does get a TON of cosmetics (also Feng, but this post is about Claudette) and it's nice to see them not default to "Well we have only a handful of slots to give event cosmetics to characters, I know, let's give it to the character who gets a cosmetic every other collection!"

  • I personally view what the devs did more as a perk grind reduction than anything else. With that mindset, I think they did an excellent job. Personally I'm annoyed that they made it so you can't unlock the bloody cosmetics until you're Prestige 4, 5, and 6, especially when only a handful look good but that's just me.

I'm pretty sure that any scourge hook will give the benefits of all scourge hook perks you have. Currently it works that way.

That is true, but the question is more about the amount of hooks because they specified the basement hooks for Monstrous Shrine. Like right now, if you were to bring all the Scourge Hooks, you don't have 12 scourge hooks on the map with all the effects, you have 4 hooks on the map with all the effects.

What I'm curious about is, would Monstrous Shrine also spawn 4 Scourges around the map or is it specifically basement? If it's specifically basement, then if I brought Pain Resonance alongside Monstrous Shrine, would the 4 random hooks stated in Pain Resonance still spawn or would the basement hooks count as the "random hooks"? That would greatly effect how useful Monstrous Shrine is. You wouldn't want to bring it with other scourges if all the perks would be tied to the basement because that's what Monstrous says, they wouldn't be very useful.

  • You can't camp with new Monstrous Shrine because it doesn't do anything unless you're 24 meters away. They could add something like "If you're within 10 meters of the hooked survivor, it will slow down the hook state progression by 15%" or something like that. It would help address camping.

  • I agree that this update will be harsh on solo queue survivors. The changes at first seem good until you realize how bad this could turn out. Idk, I guess we'll have to test it.

I don't understand it myself. I find all the changes to be great and fair for both sides. I'm happy the meta is finally being shaken up and matches may feel refreshing to play hopefully. My only concern currently is Off the Record and how its current buff will affect the matches, but we have yet to see how it performs with the new base game changes.

I feel like a lot of people are just mad that either

    A. BHVR meant both sides meta so it just hit them that their favorite perks are getting gutted

    or

    B. Feel that the base game changes to compensate for some of the metas being nerfed, wasn't a good enough compensation (which I can get behind, but not enough to be all doom and gloom over)

ok DBD loyalist so you see no problems with this update??

Your post is about specifically camping and tunneling this update and how they "didn't address it." I said that they have addressed camping and tunneling. Maybe my comment came off a little too "BHVR can't do anything wrong" oh trust me I know they can do PLENTY wrong and I don't entirely think that they did the best job with addressing it. However, like @C3Tooth said in their response to me, killers tunnel through BT and DS even now. So honestly, they can address camping and tunneling all they want, but they will still happen. The issue is people who say they didn't address it when they did. There is nothing BHVR can truly do to stop camping and tunneling because they can't control their player base. Camping and tunneling aren't like cooldown times or gen speeds where they're embedded in the coding of dbd. They are strategies that come from people's brains.

Also, I genuinely want to know, from you. What do you think the devs SHOULD do to address camping and tunneling? Like you said, killers already wait things out like BT anyways, so what does it matter if BT is 5 seconds or 3 minutes? The killer will just wait it out if they're serious about tunneling you.

  • I don't think it will count for M2's since M2 attacks are killer specific and are different depending on the power. If they were to do it for an M2, it would be part of a power rework. M1 attacks every killer has and is the same amount of time. That is easy to rework.

  • You: "how do you manage to have a 40 perk rework & still dont acknowledge camping & tunneling?"

The Devs: *has an entire section in there dev update about camping and tunneling*

Ya'll really looking to turn a blind eye to part of the update just to be able to scream at the devs aren't you? Also what sort of changes would you have in mind that they can do that aren't perk related? The best they could really do is base kit BT without completely reworking perks into other perks then making the pre-reworked perks basekit and much weaker like they did to BT. Seriously, base kit DS would probably be like "If you don't get down and picked up in the next 15 seconds, it doesn't count." Considering how much they're changing this update, I think they did the best they can for the space they had to work with inside it.

  • My answer if I didn't already have everyone prestiged on the account I use to prestige, I'd say "I was going to do that anyways." However everyone is done on that account and I'm not planning on prestiging anyone else until the rework is out and I'm forced to. Which honestly isn't a problem with all the changes.

While I do think it is a heavy nerf, I don't think it's that bad for the perk. Once you get down to 3 survivors, either the game is almost done anyway as most gens are done or you're in such control at that point that the game is effectively over.

From a survivor viewpoint, Ruin being in play when one survivor died made the game near impossible to win. This will at least give survivors a fighting chance.

this song has aged well lmao

  • This is what happens when we don't read.

#1. When you prestige, you will no longer have locks on Perk Slots so you don't need to go up 15 levels to unlock all perk slots

#2. You actually don't need to get every killer to Prestige 3 to unlock all perks on all killers, only Prestige 1, at that point Tier 2/3 of the perks will appear in bloodwebs as usual

28 killers times 50 levels comes out to be... 1,400 levels. Sure, it's more than 1284, but it's realistically not much worse especially if you keep just putting points into Oni. You would realistically get all the perks on one character much faster by bringing everyone up to P1 then just draining points into 1 character than to Prestige everyone to Prestige 3.

  • Personally, I believe it would not be taken better if it was a new character. The devs already explained it, and it's honestly not that hard a concept to grasp, they don't want a characters sexuality to be the forefront of their existence to people. That's why they'll never make a brand new character lgbtq. People will automatically just call them the "gay character."

Also, the question you're referring to they were asked their favorite character. That doesn't really mean anything other than they like Yui.

  • Can you explain how Camping got buffed?

"Moving forward, Survivors will receive a 5 second Endurance effect after being unhooked. This gives the unhooked Survivor an opportunity to reach a nearby window or pallet, or for another Survivor to position themselves for a Protection Hit.

Additionally, the unhooked Survivor will receive a 7% Haste effect for 5 seconds. This will make them harder to catch and encourage Killers to shift focus to the unhooking Survivor." which then also turns off if you do certain actions which if you're being camped and tunneled you wouldn't be doing.

This to me sounds like a nerf to camping and tunneling.

BT also seems to have been buffed despite them calling it a nerf right? Once again a nerf to camping (I am not sure why they think giving a mini bt will decrease BT's usage if it ends up making it better than it is now)

Personally, it sounds like a nerf to camping and tunneling. Mostly tunneling, but camping will also take some level of a hit.

  • No, those are the 39 getting reworked in midchapter, there will be others. They honestly adjust perks often so I wouldn't worry about it being the only one

I was referring to the visual look. It's a bit messy, imo.

Aaaahhh, yeah it could be cleaned up a little bit to look better.

  • "Gotta say I'm not too big of a fan of the look of it"

Honestly all they really are showing is the new symbols and tally screen. I wouldn't think too much of it until we get to play around with it on ptb. Most of the overhaul seems to be more of a fix to grind so it's hard to get the point across in pictures. Even if they are just teasers.

  • I wonder why they didn't do one All-Kill to Sadako Rising? Did they ever give a reason? I'm happy he's back though

  • I honestly don't understand why they didn't do it the way they did before where they kinda just looked at stats over a period of time. This a lot worse.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

People really be jumping to conclusions before we have any information on the changes, for real.

They told us they were going to rework roughly 40 perks, they showed us 39. Something tells me, there's no more perks on that list. If it's not there, it's not getting reworked. At least not yet.

Do it as a killer, it's alot easier. Spam dead dog.

i tunnel people because im sick of my time being wasted at the exit gates. If people started leaving when they can i wouldn't be such a sole.

So because you can't handle waiting a maximum of 2 minutes (4 if you slug/hook), you're going to make it extremely difficult for others to enjoy the event and earn their rewards?

Edit: Also, in this situation you presented, you're in control of whether or not they stay. If they're actually waiting it out, chances are you aren't trying to end the game.

  • @Barbarossa2020 said:

Not everyone cares about bp farming. I got my 12 masks done im happy, now i can go about camping and tunnelling without having to look for a stand.

Meanwhile, some of us don't have all the masks because of people who share this thought process and just tunnel the first person they see out of the game.

  • I honestly think the answer is that they've ran out of ideas for challenges.

BHVR claims to have 2 million daily players. It'd be very embarrassing if those challenges don't get completed.

If that were even close to true then these challenges shouldn't take more than a day, yet here we are. We all know they aren't telling the truth

  • @xfireturtlex said:

    Definitely the toxic bs.

As for the cosmetics, it just gives you a random one....probly not the character youre on. Killers can unlock survivor cosmetics and vice versa. If you dont see the character pop up before it goes away, just check around.

I did, both times it happened to me today. It just straight up didn't give me one.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

You have to select the challenge to personally contribute to the challenge, your personal contribution is not passive as far as Im aware, though I kind of expect this to be one of the slower challenges to complete for the community since not everyone kicks gens, also some regression perks such as Hex: Ruin do not contribute to the challenge since it's based on the point scoring action of damaging a generator. I reckon "Be chased by the killer" and "chase survivors" will be an absolute breeze to go through considering how common both actions are, very rarely do you find very immersed gamers in DbD, at least with MMR being in the game.

Also the community challenges works either 1 of 2 ways (and Im not certain as to how it works so pick your poison):

    1. You can only contribute as much as the challenge will allow for the community challenge.
    2. You passively contribute to the community challenge but you need to contribute to progress.

I understand you need to have it selected to complete the "personal contribution" part of the challenge, I'm just mostly wondering about the global progression. Also, if you're right and you need it to be selected for any of your own matches to go towards it, then these challenges will never get done because no one is going to keep a challenge selected that they can't actively do.

  • Honestly? Yeah, I do think it would take the place of one

  • Personally, I've only had issues with them when there's multiple in a round. People seem to rarely bring them and I'd still say probably only 5% of those BNP matches actually feature multiple.

He was confirmed to be the most popular killer in June 2021. He was buffed before that.

So then why is it that he was nerfed because of popularity and not because he was buffed? From what I remember, the developers said he was being nerfed because they thought he was too strong. It wasn't like with Ruin where they attempted to nerf Ruin because it was too popular.

Wraith was the most picked killer and they proceeded to nerf him a few months later... Huntress next? :(

Didn't they buff him thought prior to nerfing him? I don't see the correlation.

Squid Game was utter garbage. (spoiler warning?)

    • The acting was subpar (especially from the VIPs).
    • The plot was just ridiculous (like why on earth did they decide to go back into the games???).
    • None of the characters were interesting except Sae-byok.
    • The horror aspect was nonexistent.
    • The writing felt predictable and lazy.

You are the only person on this planet I think I've ever heard say they don't like Squid Game.

  • @DrDeepwound said:

NOED has been nerfed numerous times into the weak hex it is.

Can you imagine how these current survs would deal with old NOED that was not tied to a hex?

    LOL

You mean the perk that only activated when the exit gates were open and only instadowned when you had Tier 3? Oh yeah, so much weaker. (I know egc didn't exist at the time, but I'd argue it's stronger now even if it doesn't have the attack cooldown reduction). Oh and it also existed when survivors were much much stronger than they are now. Remember instagens? Instaheals? EVERY MAP BEING WORSE THAN CURRENT THE GAME.

  • I'm someone who uses DH now a lot more than I used to, and since starting to use it, I can say my opinion of it hasn't changed and is even more solid than before. Dead Hard (along with perks like Circle of Healing) are horrible and do not belong in DBD. You say that Dead Hard is interactive, but it's not. It really is not. Nothing is considered broken if it's well made, that goes for real life things and video games.

  • @Regulus47 said:

Nope. That would be broken on victor. Just release him next to a dropped pallet, herd the survivor into it, get free down. And that's just the first thing I can think of.

This perk is fine. It's practically a free down when it activates so I think it's fair that survivors get warned it's in play. It's like boil over

Perks don't work on Victor, this wouldn't happen. Also there's a delay before activating so it wouldn't work even if perks DID work on Victor.

  • I love how I read this as I'm on my Playstation doing old challenges and this one I'm doing happens to be the "Open 2 chests while using Ace in the Hole" challenge.

  • @Laluzi said:

Yeah, it's pretty dang cruel. If it's bad now, I pity the survivors who join in the future and have to clear up old tomes. At least right now, we associate No Mither with the challenge and there are killers that will take pity on you for it after your team inevitably gets wrecked. Give it a few weeks and No Mither's going to be 100% free real estate again.

I already feel bad for how many key/hatch challenges there used to be.

  • The perk already seemed pretty weak, especially with the delay between the hit and activation. When I saw this was a thing, I thought, "This perk is never going to get any value."

  • Well the 6th Anniversary patch is already out. Also, why do people keep thinking the developers are actually going to remove a perk? They won't. The best you can hope for is a complete rework of the perk (if a nerf isn't what you're looking for).

  • @Hel24330 said:

Did you double pip? You need to have 2 pips for the trophy to be unlocked.

  • I can guarantee that's a bug. As the devs (and forum mods) like to say, if it's not in the patch notes, it's probably unintentional and should be reported.
